The FCC have gone ROGUE?! .. ‘Dis is gon’ be good! :D

When I received this troubling news (from this video), I was quite terrified. So there you go, people who said “if you aren’t freaking out, you’re not paying attention”.. this time you’re right!
It appears the FCC has had enough with getting their ass handed to them by We The People, and have decided to go rogue (even while nearly 100% of Americans(Democrats AND Republicans finally working together) have supported Net Neutrality to remain, this is pretty much grounds for treason.
It’s one thing to ignore the advice of another, but it’s another thing to ignore the rights of hard working, tax-paying Americans who voted these people in to represent us. To go against Freedom and Democracy, would be quite bad on the chairman of the FCC. America has spoken. Stand down, Ajit Pai.. or be eliminated in supreme court by the 2nd Amendment.

Yet to say I’m not terrified would be an understatement. Yes it’s in the constitution, written with “We The People” (not We The Government), but this is an unstable political year for the U.S (when not even our own jackass of a president knows how serious things would be without Net Neutrality). I fear that even if the trial of the century(even bigger than the OJ Simpson trial) happened (The FCC versus the United States of America), it’ll be rigged in their favor.
Some content creators are of course, fearing the worst of this (as if the world is ending). Because this wouldn’t just affect Youtube, but critical technology to help the US fight the war against terror (and then some). This shit will affect the entire planet, like a solar flare threatening to destroy all modern communication (and send us back to the stone age).
Ajit Pai fails to understand this. He feels he’s finally doing something no one else had balls to do. He’s also treading dark waters if he continues, which I said before, will only get worse for him.

The FCC “boogeymen” again want to remove Net Neutrality

Oh look, the same song and dance as before, where people tell you “if you aren’t freaking out about Net Neutrality, you’re not paying attention”.
For those who don’t know, Net Neutrality isn’t taking away your right of watching pornhub at 3 in the morning, but turning all of the internet into the world’s largest microtransaction. So if you thought paying $35 for a stack of coins in a mobile game is bad, picture having to spend it to send a tweet on Twitter. Not to mention, they would also have the right to slow down websites as they see fit.

I will admit, I’m kind of scared. Especially for the fact the FCC wants to remove the Net Neutrality law from under the dinner table of the Thanksgiving holiday (where no one notices).
One of these three Congresspeople (their Twitter handles listed below) need to be persuaded to fucking leave alone the Net Neutrality law. So internet, do what you do best and get one of these to reconsider not turning the World Wide Web into a cash cow.
@AjitPaiFCC {- Chairman of the FCC.
@BrendanCarrFCC {-A commissioner of the FCC.
@mikeofcc {-Another commissioner of the FCC.

I have contacted all three in hopes to persuade their minds to keep Net Neutrality. If you care for a free internet, do what I did and vote to keep the law intact.

Starting immediately, I’m doing no more game reviews

So hey, back at this again. This post has had a long time coming, but I finally got down to it. It’s a response to the responses I’ve gotten from you folks from this post(if you haven’t read it yet please click the link), about how my reviews are different than that Cuphead ‘review’.

And the responses have been many, but they seem to have been split 60/40. 60% of you say to not stop doing reviews, that they’re helpful(and thanks for letting me know this), and some of them also appreciate that I have stopped using my bad skills as a gamer as a negative of the game.
Again, thank you so much for your support! That means a lot. To hear my reviews actually help, I’m very glad to hear that.
.
However, there’s the other 40% who say that I complain too much, the reviews aren’t helpful– and most importantly… are out of date. That by the time I finally get my hands on the game, it has already been months (if not years) since the game’s release of when I finally do my review. And by then, most people had already made a decision, making the review a waste of time to make.
And this has really got me thinking, especially after these two recent really bad excuses for reviews. Both have a lot of games and DLCs attached to the IP. And instead of actually doing my homework and reading up on the lore, I took the easy way out and said “this is all I can give you”. Infact I didn’t release the second one (which was HITMAN: The Complete First Season).

But I think what really made it feel like the final blow, is a review I saw of the new Wolfenstein (of today being its release date). I found the review extremely helpful as a gamer, and was way, way more detailed.
The way I’ve been doing it is inexcusable, and you folks deserve better. So…I have made the decision to stop all future reviews from this website. But let me just say this: the only reason I started is I wanted to stick it up the gaming industry where the sun doesn’t shine. But these very, very late reviews are not helpful. And I can’t believe it’s taken this long until I have opened my eyes to the truth.
I am not a game reviewer, and this isn’t even a ‘job’. It’s just been a hobby, that doesn’t help anyone. And with that, I will be closing down the reviews blog effective immediately.

In ways, this actually feels good to stop doing it. Having to make sure I know everything to a game is just so..draining. I still in ways also enjoyed it, listing what I liked and didn’t. Yet again, what point does it have when the review wasn’t made on the day the game was launched?
Even trying to pretend to be a game reviewer is hard. But it’s not just gaming, anything can be reviewed (even a set of stamps). If you don’t know the history of the product(or products) you’re reviewing, you will be ridiculed (and you + your review are redeemed worthless), by the many fans of the series of that product.
And even if you do, you got to have that review out as quick as possible (preferably by the day it launches).

I just can’t do this anymore. There’s a time of doing what’s fun for myself, and doing what’s right for the invisible community (that I pretend exists as I’m too ashamed to get actual people to look at this ‘website’, something that I still haven’t done anything to its homepage).

The EU could make YouTube’s Content ID System… law

(This blog post was sponsored by “OH HOLY SHIT, PLEASE DON’T LET THIS BE A THING!!”)
The original title to this blog post was “The EU could take over the Internet, starting with Youtube’s Content ID System”. And I’m not joking with this troubling news given via a Pretty Good Gaming video (which I highly recommend you to watch).
First off, there’s the flawed Content ID system of YouTube. Not being a content creator, I don’t know much about this. All I do know is this checks every video for copyrighted content, however it’s not mandatory.
But if the EU has its way, it will be. Not only that, but they’ll be demanding Google (who runs Youtube) to alter their bots. The EU would also be able to legally spy through using these bots.

Why is this bad (and why should you care even if you’re living in America)? It’s bad for people who are supporting British and European content creators (as this would mean more videos would be removed for absolutely no reason). It’s bad for content creators themselves (even people who do Let’s Plays). These bots won’t be able to tell the difference between a review, and a Let’s Play. If it sees a lot of long content that is flagged as copyrighted, the video(s) will go down without warning.

What’s worse is this won’t just affect YouTube, but all large media content hubs (such as GitHub, Wikipedia, ..even Steam) just to see if there’s any copyrighted content.
Let me give you an idea how this is going to work, and how this is eerily similar to what I’m about to say. There’s been several forms where I start an account and make out my first post (usually in the form of a question). When submitting, it tells me the post is ‘placed on hold’ for a moderator to verify that it’s not breaking the rules.
…Folks, THIS is the future of the Internet if this passes. Instead of this being for forums, it will affect any website that shares a lot of media-based content.

Now I doubt this pathetic excuse of a website would be affected by this. Then again, who knows how far down the rabbit hole this is going to go.
So now it’s time for my thoughts of this. To call this ‘ridiculous’ would be an understatement. We don’t need the EU to be the ‘parents of the Internet’ (just like these other attempts to spy using the internet by the US(that thankfully got shot down)).
Hopefully this will be as well. The EU has forgotten, that there are several instances where piracy actually helped with sales of goods (by the power of distribution, something a person who barely has any money to do it theirself).

Looking less and less likely that I’ll have new hardware by early next year

Lots to talk about here. First off, is the feeling that by the time I’ll have enough for the hardware, would possibly be by March of next year. $100 here (and that’s just bills), $100 there (for a replacement secondary monitor), $45 for a new pair of shoes that’ll probably last me less than two years (because they don’t make them like they used to).
Honestly I feel I’m never going to save. Having what’s left and trying not to touch it, isn’t working. Yet it’s also a pita to go up to the bank and grab $100 at the end of the month. And thinking I can call the bank and ask them to set up a temp account (without having to go up there in person and tell them what I want it for…even though it would only be a temp account) isn’t going to work.
If only you could turn your computer into an ATM, and have it spit out your cash through the CD drive. That would be awesome.

There’s another thing… I’m not even sure if it’s worth saving up now. Tech news just depresses me. The competition between Intel and AMD is ridiculous for someone who gives no fucks for taking the time to learn this shit. There’s just so much to learn, and it’s quite ridiculous.
All I give a fuck about, is getting a decent framerate on most games (on a low resolution). This makes my options very tiny (an example is, I feel I don’t need a 1080Ti). My 750Ti has been working fine for years. Though I do remember when I had gotten it back in 2011, the installer said “you could get a 960Ti if you had more money”, or something like that. Plus that was before this recent crypto bullshit that’s jacking up the prices of video cards (due to overwhelming demand).
It just gives me a headache when I hear Intel has found a way to be better than the Ryzen. Plus one said about how this competition is “great for gamers”..not to me. Not when I’m fucking trying to save on a set CPU. I don’t wanna hear that it’s not worth saving.
I’m not rich, nor am I being paid by people to talk about PC parts (and am surrounded by PC parts that I can build a system anytime I wanna). I get a monthly check, and I can only save so much. I don’t want to feel that this is a waste of time, struggling to save when everything’s going up in cost.

And before you suggest that I go to Craigslist or Ebay and try to get a discount, first off..Craigslist has nothing related to a computer in my city (or any cities around me). And second, I would rather buy the parts brand new from a legitimate site (like Newegg) than from a 3rd party, have it come to my house, install it, and it stops working a month or two later. And then I can’t get my money back.
Of course, that second thing is also true for brand new hardware. Such as this PSU I bought years ago and asked the installer to take care of it. It was DOA. That is, unfortunately, a real risk for pretty much anything electronic.

But what’s recently been bugging me about the Ryzen, is JayzTwoCents’ latest video. His two testbenches, with a Ryzen and an Intel system. The Ryzen system stopped working, saying it’s the video card’s fault. Yet the same identical cards are in these two testbenches (a 1080Ti). He swapped cards, and the Ryzen system is now working. Yet the same “faulty” card, now in the Intel system…is working.
He checked the BIOS version of both cards, and they’re matching. Then he says “the Ryzen isn’t perfect”, and also mentioning being lucky of having all of this hardware around him to bugtest, then mentioning not everyone has all of this.
Then finally, he did the most disturbing (yet true) thing I heard; “Some of us actually enjoy hardware malfunctions. I know I do.”
To say I enjoy things like that, is to say I enjoy someone smacking me with a long stick. Infact, I think there might be something wrong with my 750Ti (that or the secondary monitor). When watching a Youtube video (and having it paused and I’m in my primary doing a few things), there’s a chance the window the video is in, turns a solid green and Firefox crashes.
Maybe it’s “a Windows 10 thing”. I dunno. All I know is I never seen that before. Thankfully it only does it once a day, and hasn’t done anything else.. (yet).

R.I.P Secondary Monitor – 20??-2017 (but I bought a replacement)

Monitor: “HEY! Heard you’re saving money for PC parts? Welp..TOO BAD! Now you have to buy a replacement me! :D”
TV: “I’m so sorry for your loss, user. But I can work as a temporary secondary monitor for you ’till you can afford a new one! I hope you don’t mind the awkwardness.”

Son of a BLIP! I can’t believe this crap. It was working FINE yesterday!! However, I believe I remember what caused it. My mother needed to look up something, and I turned my secondary monitor to face her. It blinked strangely as if there was a short in the wire, but it turned itself back on and I noticed no more issues. And yesterday after booting up, it was blinking off and on but then turned itself on fully (with no issues afterwards).

…But today, I’m seeing a constant 4 seconds on, 2 seconds off blinking of the light. It refuses to give me a picture, period. Unplugged it from the switcher and directly plugged into my computer..no picture. Even tried directly plugging it into my PS4…no picture.

I have a few spare monitors in storage, but this was before I got my 750Ti and had to get new ones because of the adapters (no more VGA, it’s DVI and HDMI now). Thankfully the affected monitor has a VGA port which allowed me to unplug one of the VGA to VGA cables off of one of the old monitors, and try to see if it was this is just a short with the DVI to HDMI cable causing the issues… but it wasn’t; monitor light still blinking.
It’s official: it’s dead, Jim. And I’m still going “but that’s impossible!” as the fucking thing WAS WORKING BEFORE!!! UGH!! D:(

I have no choice but to buy a replacement secondary monitor. I am happy that it wasn’t my video card. Yet if it was, the primary monitor wouldn’t be working. I’m also happy that I can awkwardly AF (as I’ve been used to a monitor all my computing life) use my TV as a temp monitor.

.
EDIT: Tonight I went up to Best Buy and I bought this thing for $100. Saved $80 (says this monitor was originally $180..NICE savings). I just couldn’t handle the awkwardness of using a TV as a monitor anymore. I don’t see how certain people can do it.
This one has its ‘On’ light as an LED which is shining on my computer table (instead of a small light on the front of the monitor). The screen is also brighter than my primary, even with Windows 10’s Night Light. But I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually.
Funny thing though. Before I got the 750Ti, both of my monitors were Acer. And now it’s happened again. This one having not just DVI and VGA support, but also HDMI. Not bad.

Just got done getting it set up. It’s quite bright compared to my primary. Considering of switching monitors

My thoughts of the Las Vegas shooting…

There’s been a lot of chaos happening in real life recently. The three hurricanes in one month was one thing, and now a guy with no known reason (not a white supremacist, an ISIS follower, not showing any hate to anyone… gunning down innocent people from a hotel room overlooking a outdoor country concert in Las Vegas.
These people had no where to hide. It was a free shooting gallery for this guy. I could feel the confusion and fear, with them initially thinking it was just fireworks..only for it to turn into gunfire. They had no idea where it was coming from! …..Those poor people.
Hearing stories of survivors and their bravery of trying everything they could think of to protect others from harm, brought me to tears. Yet later on, I felt “meh, this is the norm. Happens all the time.” This is a normal response to have, yet it also doesn’t solve the problem here. I could have a friend or a loved one shot and killed by one of these mass shootings, and demand retribution for their death (just like the families of the victims).

We may never know what caused this guy (a billionaire from winning in Las Vegas) to snap the way he did. Was he drunk? Did he feel the human race is a parasite and must be wiped from the Earth?
Hopefully the motive for this senseless act will be known, soon.

And as to what could be done, gun control is still on the table. The fact he had powerful weapons (even some that can pierce through body armor), we definitely do need stricter gun control.
The thing is, this guy showed no signs that he was going to do this (and bought the guns legally). It was ‘easy’ before: denying weapons to people with a criminal past (and/or disturbed individuals with an intent to kill lots of people), but this is another headache for congress to deal with. Infact, I feel this could come close to infringing on the 2nd Amendment (the right to arm ourselves in order to protect our families and property).
I mean sure, if I was in this situation, I would be extremely upset, saying “I don’t care, just DO SOMETHING!!”

Though I have some questions, such as…how in the hell did he manage to get all of those guns up to him of that hotel room? Was no one paying attention to the number of suitcases going to the guy?!
And how is it legal to have high caliber weapons in a hotel?! Someone clearly wasn’t doing their job, and I dearly hope the FBI looks into this. I feel this could’ve been stopped, if people were paying attention.
Just because the guy showed no desire to mass kill…someone’s going to be fired in that hotel. Mark my words.

Also, I can only pray this makes our Clown in Chief, get his head out of his ass, put down the phone to stop tweeting, and lead the way he was elected to do. His words of this tragic event, really felt good to me. He showed that he cared about others instead of himself, and we need this as a president.
This is his chance to finally “Make America Great Again”. I’m actually tired of laughing at him, and hearing about how bad the Left is.

The Pros (and Cons) of Windows 10 Home (so far)

I’ve been trying to play around with Windows 10 Home for a few hours now, though most of that time was trying to get my secondary monitor to turn itself on (as not even updating the drivers were working). I finally figured out the “reason” (and it feels really upsetting). Basically, I can no longer use my monitor to play on my PS4 (that worked perfectly in 7).

Fortunately, I discovered it’s not a fault with 10, but a fault with the user. I checked the wires, and discovered a single USB plug wasn’t plugged in (which was making the switcher part of my hardware, not work). Plugging it in, and I finally got a picture! Had another issue trying to get sound to work (this time I did have everything plugged in). The trick was to go into the settings of Line In and check the ‘Listen to this device’ option in order to get sound.
So yeah, I can play my PS4 on my secondary monitor again!
With that out of the way, I made a list of (so far) what I like, dislike, and find neutral about Windows 10 Home.
Note that these lists will be updated overtime, so keep checking them.

Likes;
-The Weather app. It really feels useful, even having an 11-day forecast.
-Having Ethernet and USB 3.0 drivers already installed (didn’t need my motherboard CD).
-Task Manager looks more streamlined, and easier to understand.
-Resource Monitor’s GUI is strikingly similar to Windows 7, but enhanced in places.
-I like the animation of closing and opening a window.
-Playing Wurm, I haven’t seen any major issues (crashing and the like). Seems to behave just like it did on 7. I still need to test Modded Minecraft.

Dislikes;
-When Windows Update is in its ‘pre-restart stage’, it doesn’t show me what’s going on (took upwards of 6 minutes until it finally showed a percentage..on an SSD).
-I can’t get rid of Cortana. She manages to turn herself back on even when I set all of her settings to Off.
-When shutting down, I don’t understand why it feels it needs to turn off the monitors before my computer turns off. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Neutral;
-Going to take awhile to get used to seeing everything jammed into the new Settings menu replacing Control Panel (this includes Windows Update).
-Even though updates are forced, 10 actually feels like it cares enough to not ram updates down your throat (by being able to set when you’ll be using your computer the most).
-The thing I thought that I can remove the “touch screen’ feel of the Start Menu, doesn’t actually work. However, I can close the individual apps down to get rid of them.

Oh the headaches you’ll have (of installing Windows 10)!

So hey guys, I finally manned up and upgraded to Windows 10 after over two years of delaying it. I’m using Windows 10 Pro(instead of Home). However, there’s a high chance I’ll have to go back to 7 (and it won’t be because I hate 10).
Let me explain.

Tulsi, I thought he had everything ready on his end in order to assist me if the need would arise. And I had the ISO on my USB Drive, all ready to go. And it made me feel confident enough to finally stop thinking about it and start the process of upgrading. After a few minor “issues” of forgetting how to get into BIOS (apparently it’s been long enough that the Delete key escaped my mind).
But finally I was in, and adjusted the boot order to the USB Drive. The installation went surprisingly well (no hanging) and I was in! And then it was time to find my Windows 7 OEM Product Key and activate Windows.
I typed it very carefully, reading back every letter and number. After the last number, Windows began checking if there would be no problems….and sadly there was (with it flat out telling me “it doesn’t work”.

Great. Just great. This is the same issue I had with reinstalling 7 (and had to get Microsoft’s phone support to help me). But this time, I don’t have that luxury. Tulsi is surprised and shocked that it didn’t work, but I wasn’t. It’s not a Windows 10 OEM Product key. 😛
He’s trying to find a clean Windows Toolkit for me..at least I thought he was until he stopped talking, and I can’t get a peep out of him.

Debating of going back to 7, knowing I’m going to have the issue with the key (again), and have to again get their phone support to help me. But with my luck, the key is probably expired (and I’ll be forced to go on and pay the $100, no matter what).
If I do manage to activate 7, I’m going to try the assistive technologies approach to get 10.
So this is just me, reporting in of what’s going on. This post will likely be edited as time goes by (hopefully with good edits).

.
And indeed, I do have good edits! I got it! 😀 But did I go through some fun times in getting it.
So I restart, get back into BIOS and reconfigure the main boot device to be my CD-RW DVD-ROM Combo drive, put my Windows 7 OEM CD in and start installing. As it installs, a thought suddenly pops into my mind. Remembering what I read on Microsoft’s website of the assistive technologies thing, to pick the correct Windows install based on your current install.
And finally it hit me of why the key didn’t work! Tulsi must’ve had Windows 7 Pro, which is why he was able to have Windows 10 Pro. I cannot, because I have Windows 7 Home. Yet Tulsi still wasn’t responding to me, so I continued with the install.
When I reached the point where it asks me to create a local account for my computer, it’s like my keyboard just suddenly died. I’m seriously freaking out, knowing I don’t have a replacement. Did try a backup keyboard thinking “if this one works, it proves my keyboard’s dead”, but it too refuses to work! I tried to do a ‘restart’ (which was having to hit the switch on my PSU). When the thing about “Windows didn’t shut down properly” came up, I was able to use my keyboard there..proving it’s not dead.

I looked on my phone, desperate for answers (because this has never happened to me in my history of installing a Windows OS). Someone mentioned something about “Windows 7 doesn’t have USB 3.0 drivers when installing. Plug your keyboard into a USB 2.0 port”. At the time it confused me, as I was pretty sure I had it plugged correctly. As I was about to check, Tulsi finally responded again. He suggested I try reinstalling 10 by using the key (and just going from there), but I told him I had more pressing concerns at the time.
Then I tried to move one plug I saw in the USB 3.0 port to the 2.0.. and it worked! My keyboard’s working again! So all of that time, I had mistaken one plug as the keyboard (when the real plug was still in a USB 3.0 port).
Talked with Tulsi, telling him I haven’t completed the Windows 7 install yet. But then I had a thought of turning off my computer, going back in BIOS and tell it to use the USB Drive, maybe it would take over. And sure enough it did.
When the first popup came to asking for my key, I typed it in carefully, and prayed to the lord almighty that it worked. It had seemed to, as this time I wasn’t presented with a “what Windows 10 version do you want” popup.

And now I’m here, and Windows is now activated! Victory! Thank GOD the key still works!! And now I have access to all personalization features.
Yes.. either I’m missing something, but it’s like half the features I’ve seen from other videos, aren’t here. It almost feels like ‘punishment’ for not having Windows 10 Pro. It feels disturbing.
Plus I don’t see any trace of this “delay updates for 35 days” thing. I’ll try to get these Windows Updates, and see if it might add it. Maybe what I have now is out of date..at least, I hope so.

Delaying the inevitable (Windows 10) some more…

Going by the title, yep I’m still with 7. Though, last night I got done writing a step by step guide (to myself) of how to go about grabbing the update (using this video who’s using the assistive technologies download). Going to be throwing this on my phone.
I discovered from a few sources, that 10 cannot be clean installed until I use the ‘Reset my PC’ option in 10, where there I have the option to wipe out everything on the drive. There’s these two options where I can ‘Just remove my files’ or ‘Remove files and clean the drive’.

According to the 2 minute 10 second point of this video, which goes over this step, the person claims that the first option is used “for most users”. However I’ve been getting a few conflicting statements that cleaning the drive is actually better(especially when not using the download, but an ISO on a thumb drive).

With the first video, I learned what needs to be switched off that has to do with “privacy” (which is pretty much everything). The only thing the guy didn’t switch off was this ‘SmartScreen’ thing. From what Tulsi tells me, it’s to protect you against certain Start menu apps that might use malicious code. Since I’ll likely turn them off (to remove the ‘touch screen feel’), I dunno if I’ll need it on.

I also learned Microsoft’s “attempt” to help curb the major complaints of forced Windows Updates… and they did a half-ass job. Instead of allowing the user to choose when to install the updates, all updates are delayed from downloading for 35 days, and then ramming them down your throat even if you’re ready or not.
How..is this helpful in the slightest? This is NOT what people wanted!
This would only be useful if I could say “OK, store the updates for 35 days, but let me choose when I’m ready to install them”. No! There’s NO option for that!! Either, I get them rammed down my throat NOW, or rammed down my throat 35 days from now! BULLSHIT!! HOW IS THIS FUCKING FAIR for the end user?!?
But another way to look at this, is that whole WannaCry fiasco (and how a lot of Windows 7 users had Windows Update disabled and became infected). This is likely Microsoft’s way to avoid being liable for the damages (by forcing updates down their users throats).
It should be up to the user, not Microsoft, to make that call. 😛

.
*sigh*… as much as I want to hug Windows 7 tightly and say “never leave me…*points at Microsoft while holding 7* Windows 10 is EVIL and SCARY!”, I know I cannot do it forever. Just like saying goodbye to a loved one who has passed..I got to say goodbye to my beloved OS.
But, oh how I’ve forgotten back in January 2010, when I still had Windows XP. Windows 7 64-bit was the way to go back then, and looking at those old posts(and my really bad writing skills), I was saying that “I’ve used XP for years”..just like 7.
However, it wasn’t XP losing support in a few years that eventually brought me to 7, but Fallout 3’s Game of The Year edition causing BSODs. That feeling of not wanting to upgrade, just to fix one issue.
…But unlike Windows 10, Windows 7 wasn’t forced upon us(and even attempting to ram the upgrade down our throats). It was an optional $100 upgrade.
And eventually, I did go with 7..and I never looked back. My games ran better. 7 felt like “this is my new OS”. Everything felt clean. And now, literally 7 years later, that time to upgrade to the next Windows OS has.. come again.

Windows 10, compared to 7 and even XP, looks like it’s completely changed from the ground up. It looks barely recognizable to either of those OS’ (only having the Start button). But having to left click on a gear to go to Settings, instead of Start/Control Panel? Having Cortana(something that didn’t exist back then). The stupid Windows 8-like ‘touch screen’ app menu. And then finally, the forced Windows Updates.
This entire shitbag is what has kept me from upgrading for years. However, thankfully most of these annoyances can be ‘dealt with’ overtime.

So… all there’s really left to do, is make sure what I have backed up when I was going back to my FX 4350 back in May, matches with what I have now. Then once I have that list written down, I’ll be pretty much ready.
Tulsi meanwhile is preparing me a workaround, for that off-chance scenario that my Windows 7 activation key decides to not work anymore, by giving me a clean Windows Toolkit and an ISO to burn onto my old 32GB USB Stick that I used for my PS4 videos.

However, I don’t think I’m going to need it. Because according from what I saw of the video that used the download to start the upgrade, the key is only checked once and Windows is activated using it, with no fuss. Hopefully that’s what actually happens.
Though, I also forgotten when I originally got 7, it was from a website called ‘Facepunch’, and there was a link to a collage kid who managed to get ahold of a bunch of Windows 7 ISO downloads. I also remember the key not working, but I still had access to the internet and was able to eventually get that issue fixed.
But when it comes to next year of once I get the Ryzen 5 and the new motherboard installed (hopefully by myself), I will definitely need that Windows 10 ISO by then.

One last fear I have since the upgrade showed up, is being ‘stuck’ with 10 (of not being able to downgrade even after using the OEM). I never did this kind of install of Windows in my life. It’s just with how evil Microsoft got in 2015 (with the whole “ramming the upgrade down the user’s throat” thing), it just feels like I’ll see the following;
“Hi”, followed by “Enjoy your stay with 10, because you can never leave” as the new welcome screen.
Yet on the other hand, I find it quite silly how Microsoft could stop my CD drive from running the CD containing 7(and then wiping 10 off of my SSD). I actually hope I don’t have to do that, though (and actually enjoy 10 as much as I do 7).

And that’s about it for this blog post. Nothing else to say here.
