Before I start, I wanna give a big thanks to most of you, for the support of this series of exploring the Freedom Isles (and even some of you were asking me to visit your town). I shall be doing that once I get there.
So anyway, let’s begin. Day 4! Started off slow and pretty boring, then suddenly ramped up to “this is it, I’m done, I’m boned”, and now I’m resting comfortably in a pretty big safehouse on the NE coast of Deli.
I honestly didn’t plan to visit the first server on my list for this long, but there’s just so much to see and do. Plus, the reason it’s taking so long is because I’m completely new to the roads (unlike back in Indy). That and.. I didn’t try to go around the coast on horseback. I feel it’ll be either by Day 6 or Day 7 when I have explored enough, to head to the next server; Exodus.
Another thing I need to say before I start. Tulsi logged in back at my deed unsuspectingly. Got B2 on and had him teach the kid how to go about making and imping spindles to get his Carp up. He managed to get it up to 5, but that’s not going to be enough. However, there’s also another issue. All the work Tulsi’s doing could be nil and void, as he’s going on vacation next month and would be gone all that month (and you need to login during any 30 day period, to keep a non-prem account from being auto-deleted by the system).
I hate to say it, but I may have to build the house for him. But that still depends on what happens with this ‘inspiration-fueled’ thing I’m doing. I honestly have NO ideas still for the deed.
But let’s continue. Left where I logged out for the previous night and safely made it back to ground level. Tried to go further south to get around this appendage of the server, but I couldn’t due to the mountain in the way. Had to go back to near Yaga’s place and head East. Heading up, I looked to my right and saw a series of stone arch bridges going up. What made me check it out, wasn’t because “that’s cool, I wanna go up there”.. it was “it’s got ‘dragon’ in it!! :D” (Told you my IQ is that of a 9 year old) A few sections were called ‘Dragon’s Tail’. Easily accessible, too. There were a few other non-dragon bridge names. The view from the bridge was really nice. Got a really good view of Yaga’s place.
This was all part of a place called ‘Dracon Tower’, and the owner was kind of surprising. For one it didn’t have ‘dragon’ in the name. And two, it was someone I saw in last year’s Impalong (requesting her boat to be imped). Did find her boat ‘The Ladyship’ nearby. The person was even in local, but never responded.
Left the tower and continued to go east. The road split in two; one going SE and the other going NE. Awesome design. Don’t see this in Indy. I knew I needed to use the NE (left) road, but I thought.. why rush? Adventure!! Took the right path. But as I continued on, it looked like an alternate route up to Dragontooth Peak. So I turned around and went the original NE route. Why bother exploring something I already did?
This lead to the canal I went through on horseback. I even saw the troll that refused to run out. Crossed a bridge that went over it, and this finally hooked me up to the East coast. Almost done with my coastal horseback exploration route!
Right off the bat, I had a spider and a wolf to deal with. Soon I made it to a town named “Serendipity Bay”. Wait, what? I thought the bay to the west was called that. *shrug* Whatever, Deli residents. Be weird in a good way. 🙂
Continued along the coast, dealing with more mobs. I won’t lie, it was pretty boring here. The only thing that made it somewhat exciting was the mobs.. though this started to get downright ridiculous with so. many. spiders(a few times I had three of these things attacking me)!! Arachnophobia people beware! Yet it feels silly that I’m OK of dealing with spiders in a video game(Minecraft/WoW/Skyrim/Wurm.. whatever. I’m fine with it).. yet in real life, they freak me the fuck out. I guess because I know in a video game, they can’t come out of the monitor and … craw on my han– GEEZUS FUCK even thinking about it makes my skin crawl!
With this huge influx of spiders along the coast, it was like they were singing a song about killing players. So I ‘crashed their party’ by slaughtering every single one of these 8-legged horrors.
Wolves, wild cats, and mountain lions also wanted to join the party. So come on in.. the slaughter is on me. I also managed to kill my first crocodile (an Adol, but hey.. you gotta start somewhere). 🙂
Sol was quickly dipping below the horizon. With no deeds in sight, I needed to hurry and find a safehouse. Getting tired of the constant slaughtering, I made a run for it. This turned out to be a MAJOR headache with the horse only going up specific areas. And with five spiders, two bears, and two trolls chasing me? It wasn’t good, at all. And it just got worse and worse the more I climbed to where I was yelling at my horse to be like the horses in Skyrim that can defy gravity. I was scared for my life, and had no hope I would get away. Felt like, this was it.. they finally got me in a corner I can’t get out. This is where I die. This is where my adventure ends.
But it was like my mortal survival instincts were showing me the way to salvation, and BOY did it pay off as I saw this large (but slim) building on the coast. I made a mad dash for it. Sadly no guard tower here. The horse was able to keep up its speed as we went sideways on this hill, and finally saw what I was looking for ahead of me! By then, most of the mobs (except for two trolls and a hellhound) had backed off from the chase.
Ran like the wind for the awaiting guard tower, and started spamming ‘help’ to deal with the trolls. Dealt with the hellhound, then assisted with the trolls to get my health back up (with Life Transfer). At the end, two tower guards died in this assault.
I’m literally gasping for air IRL after it. How…in the FUCK DID I SURVIVE THAT?! Eventually I calmed down and set up camp near the tower to wait the night out, and hitched the horse to the tent. It felt like a really long night, listening for any rustling of leaves (and my Combat log flashing again). Overall, it was just the music of the night. Stayed on and kept watch at the mountain I just survived from being brutally rekt.
Morning started to come, and my Combat log did flash as a sudden wolf showed up and started biting my shins. Got the guards on it and it’s no more. Typically, wolves are no problem. But I’d rather be fighting on a horse than on foot.
The only good thing that came from that fiasco, was my FS got past 55! WOOT! Only 15 to go until I’m at 70 FS.
With the ground lit up enough to my liking, I packed up camp. Though I couldn’t ride the horse as there was a cave canal in the way, so I lead it across. Had another wolf to deal with, and a troll on the road that I tried to lure back to the tower. Was rather tricky with said canal in the way, but thankfully the tower was in range for the guards to run over and get the troll.
Northward travel stopped of another hill in the way. Seeing all of the mobs there, I decided not to chance it and took a detour inland, which would take me around the north side of ‘Mystic Lake’. More trolls, bears, and other assorted mobs awaited me as I headed up the hill using this three-laned road(with trees in the middle).
Reached the lake. Had to go clockwise as the map says there’s a way past the mountain going this way. Thankfully there was a bridge to get across. Things slightly calmed down in the mob department, which is always good for prolonged survival. Saw another mailbox infront of this place called ‘Hunter’s house’, and got B2 to mail me my toolbelt. Getting annoyed of having to open up my inventory to butcher/bury, when a toolbelt would make it easier to do so. Got it in 7 minutes. Tried to test out if a water skin in it would actually allow me to drink. Couldn’t. I can put the water itself on the hotbar, but it doesn’t stay there after it gets all used up. Very disappointing.
The journey continued, swinging around the north side of the lake. Things started to become more and more beautiful where I just couldn’t keep my finger off the screenshot key. The roads lead me to what appears to be a a medium-sized, very shallow river of some sorts. And my gosh.. GORGEOUS!! The little wooden bridge spanning it, with the hills behind it. ..WHY CAN’T I DO THIS BACK HOME?!?! I would LOVE this to be part of my deed!
Anyway, this road ended at a N/S road. Instead of checking the map to make sure I’m still going the right way, I’m all “I wanna cross that bridge” and did. Though seeing past the bridge to the north was disappointing as this ‘river’ ended at a bunch of rock tiles. Also, there was two bridges(they were just close together, I assume to simulate a footbridge).
After having my fun, I saw an adol troll and decided to try my hand to kill one again, because surely a teenage-aged troll won’t hit that hard, right? Though the troll brought a friend in the form of a black bear, which I quickly ran away from. Trolls are hard enough..I do NOT want to complicate things anymore with another mob biting me! Dealt with the pet, then attempted to battle the master.
And this troll nearly laid the smackdown on my health. With 39% left and my screen starting to turn red, I was forced to flee. Instead of checking my wounds, I sucked the life out of lesser mobs to get back to speed. Vampiric dragon. Fear me. Hell, I should’ve used that as my name instead of ‘Dragonhead’. ‘Vampiricdragon’.. mmm. Rings bells. Though it wouldn’t really suit my….. personality (and definitely my ‘relationship’ with the community).
Managed to kill the troll with 63% health left. Once again I had to kill several lesser mobs to heal up. My longsword be thirsty for your blood.
Ok, DH..enough creeping out the audience. Time to continue the adventure. I’m now starting to butcher/bury the corpses (while having to dodge stronger trolls). With Sol making its downward arc, it was time to leave the area and get back to the East coast.
The map would be quite unhelpful for the first time (and having trolls following me did not help the situation), showing me of roads that are supposed to going North are stopping shorter than they showed. Had to run back through the same area I just visited. An ‘Aged hell scorpious’ engaged me. I’ve seen these ‘hell scorpious’ things before, but never this close. And wow did it look straight out of hell.
Thought maybe I would get lucky and actually kill this thing, but I kept missing, and so did it. Fearing it was preparing to warm up a power attack or something (with those demented eyes of its) to take my health from 100% to 50%(or worse).. running away quickly was a much better option, and I did so.
Somehow I found myself back on track to what the map showed in a town called ‘Trinsic’; the home of “Wilca”(a CA). Using the town as a navigational beacon, I continued up to the NE coast. Stopped by at another grave reminder of why I’m doing this; seeing a gravestone of ‘venerable blue dragon’ with the skull of the beast behind it. After a short pause to pay my condolences, I pressed on, knowing I’m past those dark days. Still kind of– meh.
Solset was happening when I made it to this sand dune of the NE corner, with a pretty cool coastal town. There was even a house that looked much like mine, except bigger (a 4×5 while mine is a 3×3). It was also made out of ‘timber framed’ instead of ‘wood’. The emptiness of the second floor really interested me, thinking the person has the second floor as an overlook. Something I wanted to do but couldn’t pull it off(by using a staircase).
Had to hop off the horse to be able to peek through the windows, and I sadly didn’t see what I had pictured. The entire second floor was completely covered up. Disappointing. A house that big would had looked nice with an open air second floor.
Continued on, and started to look for a place to rest for the night. Found a house named ‘Contact Paulski for Perms’ that I was able to enter. It had a bed, which I promptly used.
Today, I imagine I will arrive back at my boat (having completed the coastal route). From there, I’ll go and check out Greendog again(and check out all of the road tunnels). Even try to find this area I got teleported to. This is where the real goodies of Deli will be kept (and the map’s reliability will be greatly needed(instead of just following the coast around)).
I feel my exploration of Deliverance is almost over. It won’t be long until I head to the next server.
