Currently snuggled in a public bed for the night(going to play tomorrow), in the ‘Insane Dragon Inn’ (it’s so insane that it doesn’t even have a roof). How did I get to this point? I finally took the plunge, despite multiple feelings (even the feelings of just stopping and go play another game like Minecraft), and..I’m SO glad I did! The sure beauty I’ve seen from Deliverance alone? Mind-blowing. And this is just some of the interior of the server. And there’s just so, so much more to explore and take in.
The most beautiful, have to go to the canals. Feeling like you’re gliding peacefully down a river (with mobs trying to bite and claw at you from the shore)..can this server get any more fucking beautiful?! 😀
Deliverance.. fuck man, I should’ve gone here to clear my head after what happened with the you know what. It would’ve helped so much. But this place also has hidden dangers that I gotta watch out (and forced to run away) for.
But before I got here, I was still having second thoughts back home. Though I also wanted to wait ’till the perfect time to set sail (in hopes to be at Deliverance by the morning).
My only female horse, still haven’t delivered her foal yet. It’s been two days with it saying “She will deliver in about 1 Day”. I’m starting to get worried that she’ll die during birth. She is old enough that it’s possible, though I hope due to the fact she’s still being cared for, it will overwrite any age (or failure) tick.
The other thing I feel I had to wait for, is Tulsi saying he was going to come on and start grinding his Carp up.
He finally came on during snacktime for me, but then had to go a minute later. It’s there when I decided that I was done putting this off, dropped off everything but the bare essentials, instructed B2 of what to do, hopped in my Knarr and set sail.
And wouldn’t you know, Wurm’s weather system once again is trolling the fuck out of me by having an East gale..in my face. What in the fuck did I do to piss it off?!
So with this annoying East gale, it took me longer to get around the North coast. Still, I wasn’t about to let it stop me from my goal of finding a new place to move.
I’m talking in kchat with CD and a few others about the Rift that opened (how someone mentioned it’s been less than a week since it closed), suddenly I get randomly PM’d by ‘Lyhrinae’, the CA that helped get me that high bookcase.
I’m thinking “uh oh..did I say something wrong?” (as that’s a typical response to seeing a moderator PM you, thinking you fucked up with your wording).
However, the person thinks we’re friends now and says “I gotta tell someone, I just made a 11.34 kg meal!! :D”
The person’s literally freaking out over making a huge meal, and all I can do is congratulate them. And that’s about it.
So as I was speaking to Lyhrinae, I wanted to check that high flatraised area that I kept passing by on my way to wherever. The West ramp up goes stops at a dead end, but the East ramp connects to a road that goes up to the flatraised area. On one end is a bunch of Steppe tiles, and on the other is normal grass. Saw no token, so whoever that sailboat belongs to, isn’t living here.
All and all, I don’t want this place. Feels like bigger mess than what I got back home, and so many awkward paths.
Passed the Northern Sea Pass and continued to look. When I thought there was just no hope, I finally found a REALLY nice flat area, next to the ocean. This..THIS IS IT!! 😀 THIS is what I wanted in a new place to live! Though I couldn’t explore it fully due to a troll and a champ wolf (this is what happens when you don’t have actual armor).
Sadly..it’s already been claimed. Though I didn’t even notice the “You enter Manor House Of The Lady April” message in my Event log, I saw the token. So, um..
FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU—!!!!!!!!
There’s literally like..NOTHING HERE (that’s a structure). So it could be one of two ways. Either the deed is under construction, or the deed will be disbanded by upkeep soon.
I marked the area as ‘POTENTIAL deed move spot’ in the ingame map and vowed to watch for the name of this deed to appear as being disbanded….hopefully. When it does, I’m going to swoop in and claim it for myself (using B2). ..But that would also backfire in my face as B2 would be the owner of my future deed and not myself.
Well, that’s also why I hope to find a place on another server. Therefore, the “1 deed per server” limit won’t apply to me (as it won’t be on Indy).
I visited Garit’s place as it started to get dark. I expected to see another one of those huge, multi-leveled sprawling deeds with lots of structures. What I saw, wasn’t bad at all. Though “why is it called ‘Jaxville?'” went through my mind. Sadly I was stuck behind gates and couldn’t fully explore the place (or see where he claims he has a black dragon hatchling buried), because ‘y u leave alliance, yo?’ (and Garit himself hasn’t been on in a week).
Nevertheless, I did get some inspiration for my deed (while also having the local tower guards deal with a bear and a hellhound that wanted to say hi with their claws and fangs). The dock area, that was pretty cool. He has a sunken level to access boats. But what I really liked as the Shipyard house. It looked like a real warehouse IRL(at least, in a game I played). The overhang on the back of the wall, really set the theme.
If(and that’s a big ‘if’) I ever decide to get into the market of making/selling boats, I’ll consider building one of these.
With that, it was time to turn south. I was going to go visit what’s left of Volcano Forest, but with no horse and no armor (and it being night), not really worth it. Seeing the East coast 6+ years in the future, it has really changed. There was even what looked like a skybridge being constructed!
Halfway from the SE coast, CD chirps in asking anyone “do you have eyes on the rift?”. I respond stating the obvious that YES the red beam is there. It’s quite hard not to be able to see it when it goes up to the sky(and is quite visible at night). Use your night vision, CD. Prove to these pathetic mortals that we can see better!
(No, I didn’t actually say the last bit, or the bit of using her night vision)
Finally made it to the Indy/Deli boat bridge, and followed it all the way. Though I don’t like how it stops 10 seconds after crossing the border(in a Knarr at least).
Now I’m in Deliverance, no longer using it as a dimensional slingshot to get back home. The line of sailboats to mark the boat bridge seemed to disappear as I approached the mainland.
Met my first local while preparing to start exploring the island. They said hi and..that was about it. I asked them if they lived here in Deli and I got no response. Almost wonder, if this server is where CD came from. Since she talks about things but never really finishes a conversation(and moves to a new one).
As I said, I’m planning out the route by pulling up the map of Deliverance (though Firefox). Spot (and visually see) a beckoning canal going into the center of the server.
Going through this one-tile wide canal with trees lining the sides.. such eye candy, much yummy! Wow. Don’t see these things too much on Indy. The only one that’s close, is the Hidden Bay Canal that connects to the SW coast to Kinoss Bay.
Can you imagine getting a Cog through this? The view from the crow’s nest? …Is there a word beyond “breathtaking’?
The first cave canal was quite interesting, for it showed people have made underground structures. And this long canal (yet surprisingly not as long as the FM Canal) opens up to..another level of sheer beauty.
…FUCK! I wanna LIVE HERE!! 😀 The rolling hills, the shallow lakes, the realistic-looking towns. This felt like real life. This, is the reason I still play Wurm, folks.
One of these various-sized lakes also revealed another beautiful secret. Besides another 1-tile wide canal (but going SE to NW), I came up to this quaint, undeeded, unnamed town. And wow, did the inspiration scream at me.
It had a cart garage. It had a workshop (that looks like something I would want), it had a hotel (quite nice), and a cottage. All but the cottage could be entered. This felt like every idea I had and was shown, all thrown into this.
Wanted to see if the place at least had a guard tower nearby, then a surprise bear spawned in behind me and gave chase. Ran to my boat as quick as I could, and wanted to pull the chain harder to get the anchor up faster as the bear was preparing to rip me up…yet thankfully it seemed to just let me go without even scratching me (after giving a chase in ‘bearshark mode’).
I’m sitting there telling it “If I had my armor, I would fuck you up!”. But it acted like it said “Just get out of here before I maul you in the ass.”
So the next thing I wanted to do was re-visit Greendog (though it would be my first time as Dragonhead). Sitting there exploring this large’ish lake, trying to talk to the locals (and ask them if there’s any good places I could move to). Yet most were either AFK or didn’t really want to speak past saying “hi”. Don’t really blame them. You got a total stranger you’ve never seen in your life going around in a Knarr, who’s trying to spark up a conversation with you.
Though I did actually have a pretty decent conversation with a guy named ‘Twigg’, who said to try the NE coast of looking for a place to move in. He also said how he’s been helping “to get all the lakes connected via cannal”. I asked him if Greendog is connected, and he said “the cannal to the south there does go all the way from what I’ve been told.”
Used the colorful canal (called the Rainbow Canal)..and it did not disappoint as it had every color option possible in Wurm via lamps). Just because I used to like rainbows (just the color of them) as a kid, doe NOT make me gay, alright?
And before I realized, I was on the outskirts of Greendog! When I realized, I moored and hopped out of my boat, and followed this road. It was lined with so many Lavender bushes.
Entered Greendog. Felt about the same size as The Howl. Expected a sizable market at least, but there were only two traders. Then I saw this sign that said to Examine it to learn about this ‘Deliverance Derby’ thing. Yet that would be a fatal mistake, of when I did, I didn’t ever think I would be teleported!
Soon as I teleported in, the manual combat window showed up with a wild cat trying to claw me. Managed to get out of there and then realize.. oh shit, I’m lost.
My first instinct is to contact kchat, hoping any locals in the area would be kind enough to help me out to get myself back to Greendog…and I received a not so welcoming response of, nothing. Started freaking out, seeing Sol setting. Trying to calm myself down and to just focus on going up or down this three-wide road (in hopes there would be a sign that points to Greendog). Mobs made this hard and I was forced to run away like a pussy..once again.
THANKS, Wurm Devs for not fucking allowing me to bring my horse cross-server!! D:(
Kchat got active, but only to say hi to another one of the locals. I’m getting annoyed as nighttime approaches and ask again. They act like they never even heard of this derby, and to ask in CA HELP for assistance.
Ohh how far I’m scraping this barrel now. So I ask them, saying “Well this is embarrassing.” (because it WAS. This is NOT the way to be self-sufficient!!)
I decide to head back to where I got teleported in, hoping there another sign to get myself back. Hidden in a corner is ‘supreme Get me outa here!’. Examine it, and I get teleported back to Greendog. Thank CHRIST that worked! I tell all the chat windows that I made it back no problem.
Back in my boat, the last rays of light are in the horizon. I decide to make a mad dash back to the North coast of the server (as I feared a bearshark is going to attack while I’m moored). Sadly, night fully falls before I can get halfway, because trollface has decided to change the wind direction to the NE..now giving me TWO headwinds to worry about. Plus it slows down the process of getting back.
Still, I made it and saw this run down inn next to the canal entrance (called the ‘Insane Dragon Inn’). Desperate for anything at this point, I moor next to it and hop out. Find beds. Takes me two minutes to logout(I assume because it sees having no roof being a problem).
And that brings me here. Tomorrow I’m going to start swinging around the outer coastline of the server and check it out.
Now I’m tired IRL.
