Learning the ropes and dealing with annoyances, all in one day

I finally got ahold of their Live Chat and got to speak to them. After 30 minutes, the password got resetted and I now have access into cPanel.
Already I’m blown away by the complexity. Some buttons look familiar, while others I’m scared to touch thinking they’ll blow my mouse cursor up. I did figure out how to change the theme to make the thing look easier to understand.

Even the File Manager, I had forgotten where I go to do webpages. Plus, I don’t know how to go about adding a second blog. I have to learn all of this if I am to own this future ‘benies-blogs.com’ website.
I did figure out how to change the homepage. Thank goodness for that. A standard index.html will still work. I just hope nothing happened to the blog there.

Also, I got ahold of Live Chat for the second thing. All answers were good. Everything looks good. And now, it falls to me to do it. I decided not to have them delete beniesbuilds.com for now. I need it up for reference, to make sure I get the first blog installed. Haven’t bought the new domain yet. I’m debating if it should be called .com or something else. It seems .buzz is available, which feels more fitting for a blog-only website (buzz = news, news of my words in a blog). Yet it’s also the most expensive option for a domain, being $33.50. Where a .com is only $10.

I also need to figure out how to do multiple blog installs (to get my General blog back up). Been told it’s possible, but it sure looks complicated. I have to use MySQL, something I’ve never touched in my life (or remember doing so). This is why I’m leaving the old website alone until I master this.

.
EDIT: Change of plans. Major change. Getting the new domain is now on hold until next month. I was planning on buying the new domain, thinking the $9.95 was a one time fee. It’s actually a yearly fee, just like the hosting. Infact, the date cannot be changed (again).

And again, I felt I had to hogtie a bull to get that fucking answer out of them. Seriously.. why? At least this time I stayed calm for as long as possible. But the more he(the Live Chat guy) persisted in avoiding my question, the more determined I got to force him to answer it.
He finally told me some bullshit about this “ICANN policy”, where the date cannot be changed. But wow, I had to take the horns for THIS?! Why? Why can’t they just tell me, without fighting me?
Yet even if it could be changed, the new bill would be nearly $70/yr. That’s more than what I would pay with beniesbuilds. And that’s just not right.

So I’ve decided to wait ’till either the 4th or 5th of next month, then have them cancel the old hosting account(hopefully there’s no cancellation fees). Then I won’t have to pay $10/yr more. I’ll get it for free instead.
I did also have an idea and had done an extensive search to try to find a cheaper .com option, then I could have Arvixe host it for me. Alas, I couldn’t find anything cheaper than $2.99 on GoDaddy, but they wanted me to agree with a 2-year thing where they would raise it to $15/yr. And if that is insane, there was this website of when I checked, it instantly went into its cart and wouldn’t let me look unless I registered. Found a way around it, and they want a whopping $34/yr.. geezus.

It looks like waiting is my only option. It seems it’s the only way possible to still pay $60/yr, but “change” beniesbuilds.com into benies-blogs.com. It’s not physically possible to change a domain’s name. Only way is to remove the old and usher in the new (and have a new yearly billing date).
Another thing I could do (and it’s actually smarter), is to just allow the hosting plan to expire on November 25th, then quickly get another one for benies-blogs.com. That way, the billing date would stay.

Either way would give me time to get familiar with cPanel, so in ways, this is a good thing to wait. I can do the same thing I was going to do on the new website; have a new webpage to replace the homepage(maybe put a visitor counter on it, just to bring back the old (good) days of TheBeaverDam.com), and have my two blogs pointing away from the main page (aka ‘beniesbuilds.com/games’ and ‘/general’). All I need to figure out is how angry managed to make my Games blog as the homepage, and change it. That’s probably going to be one of the hardest things to figure out.
At least, I wouldn’t be forced to use this piece of shit(that keeps thinking I want to share my blog posts with the world) anymore. It’ll be back on beniesbuilds (temporarily).

Personal thoughts while waiting for responses

I got a response for the first thing. They mention they have a cPanel service and also showed a few links. However, none of them seemed to show how I access it on their website.
I also did some Google searching, trying to see if I could find a direct link. All I found was a bit disturbing (not as “OH GOD WTF?!?!”, but “Ugh, really?”). It seems they can provide a ‘cPanel Hosting’ for $4/mo.
This leads me to believe, angry never got into this. I did respond to that email, asking “How do I access cPanel?”

The person also seemed to forget what I had said about angry not having access anymore. Angry told me that he left because I told him to. I did not. I just wanted him to think of how much money we’ve been wasting for as little as I use it. He obviously didn’t see it like that, as he had full control (as a programmer).
But all of that, he was doing for me. Not for himself. He doesn’t need me. … Maybe I’m the one that needs to think. Meh…

Well, the guy wanted my username and the last four letters of my password to verify I am me. So I did. Really wish this wasn’t the best option to reach them, but their Live Chat is still down (even know it claims it’s Online on their website. Very misleading).
Now I could call them (or even try for the 3rd time to reach their Live Chat), but to expect someone to answer on a Sunday is quite humorous. Though I’m glad the billing date isn’t close, or I would really have a problem.
But to have to pay to access cPanel; something I had gotten for free before? Mmmmm… well. If they say it’s my only way, I’ll do it. It’s only $4 a month(which is $48 a year). But I’m not paying it with this one. It’ll be for the new website.
I need cPanel. It’s the perfect toolset for the average webmaster (aka, me). It beats going into FTP and doing it the manual way, or learning coding and doing what angry did and SSH my way in.

.
EDIT: I found the cPanel! It was right there under my nose. Thank god this is not something I have to pay for. It comes with the hosting, apparently. However, I cannot login to it. It’s not the same password that I have. It’s the original one that angry gave me, but I don’t have it wrote down anywhere. So I’m screwed there.
There is a way to reset the password, but when I try it, I don’t get an email. It’s going to someone else (maybe angry). Maybe it’s being sent to webmaster@beniesbuilds.com, but angry may’ve done something and messed it up my mistake.
Dunno, but I had to send them a response for that. Hopefully he can pull up the old email, figure out why I’m not getting anything when trying to reset the password, and get me access.
I want to learn cPanel before I do anything else.

EDIT2: Beginning to feel this too is going to be a waste of money. $60/yr to host two blogs (just so I can have access to plugins)? There’s got to be a cheaper option. The days of me being a webmaster are gone. There’s really no point in paying that much, for how little I’ll use it. It’s like buying a supercar and never driving it. WordPress I believe does offer its own blog web hosting. I might look into this and forget Arvixe.
Though I think it can only support one blog, instead of multiple. If so, then that’s unfortunate.

Seriously, why am I so.. double-talking here? Here I said to angry “Dude, we’re wasting money on this thing. It’s just two blogs and you accessing via SSH.”, yet when I ‘take over’, I’m all “Hmm, I could make another site”.. I’m literally forgetting what I just said to angry! I said, it was a waste of money. So why in the fuck do I want another website from them?

…Because I love how fast they load. And really, this is possibly my ONLY option. I really doubt WordPress would allow me to make a domain just for my blogs, and have it at like.. $20/mo. Which is even more money in the long-term than what I would pay yearly to Arvixe.
On top of it, what’s the guarantee it’ll be as fast as what I get from Arvixe(since the website moved servers)? And also, my brain felt that having a ‘benies-blogs.com’ domain would have more of a purpose, as it would be the true nature of the site.

#BenieFuckedUpRoyally
Let this trend on Twitter. I deserve it.

.
EDIT3: The Sales person responded about 15 minutes ago at the time of typing this, also asking for my username and last four digits of my password. Funny how they will respond via email, but not Live Chat or even calling them.
Screw this “feel like I’m wasting my money” thing, because I heard WordPress Premium is $99/yr. And that’s only one domain. Fuck that. I may not use the new domain for its full purpose, but at least I won’t be spending as much money.
I did see that Arvixe offers its own hosting for WordPress blogs, for only $4/mo. But that’s only for one blog, not multiple.

The future of beniesbuilds.com – Do I fully own it now?

I’m still thinking on what happened a few days ago. In ways I wish I could fix what happened and pretend I never had a thought of feeling like I’m wasting my money. In others, I wish I could just forget the site ever existed.

Seeing how it’s still up, I’m wondering if this means that angry removed himself as co-owner, making myself the full owner of the website. If so, then maybe I can just tell Arvixe to shut it down for good (to literally burn the memories away). Or… maybe I could just take control of the site and try to get my General blog back up. I could use Kompozer and make some quick web pages to replace the home page, linking to both my blogs.
Yet by doing any of that, I feel it will only infuriate angry even more. Though Benie’s Builds started as my idea, he helped me so much with it. And to just replace them, feels wrong.

I dunno what I should do. I have been talking to his friend, goppend. He’s going to secretly ask him for me if the site belongs to me. Depending on that outcome, I’ll have to decide what to do with the website. I actually do hope it’s mine, because the due date is coming up in about two months from now (it’s November 25th).
But having it mine, I won’t have to really tell my friends on the MRT of what happened. They don’t need to know.
Another thought I had, was to basically buy another website and then pay for a file transfer. That website would be ‘benies-blogs.com’. It would pretty much kill off the name ‘beniesbuilds’ and have the website for its true “purpose”. Yet I would stay with Arvixe. Even though they didn’t directly answer my billing question, they still do damn good hosting.

I just hope the site’s control panel is as easy to understand and work with as I had when I was with NoMonthlyFees.com (and had ‘TheBeaverDam.com’). And I also had forgotten a part of history. Benie’s Builds used to be called ‘DragonContraptions.com’. I still have some old webpages I made on my hard drive, with Dragonforce’s lyrics on it. That was pretty fun going over the songs over and over, listening to the lyrics.

.
EDIT: Gop has informed me that I 100% own the site and I can do what I want with it. But I cannot log into Arvixe. Claims the password is wrong, and all the emails that I know that are active are not in the system.
I was literally forced to man up and talk to angry via gop inviting me into their group chat. After several rounds of ‘eternal torment’ of him having fun, he said to try the webmaster at beniesbuilds dot com email(spread out to deter spam bots), and that worked. I also changed the password.
I was actually going to do that before, but assumed that angry didn’t remove his email from it. He has, so it would just go to me.

Looking inside, I don’t see a Control Panel anywhere. I have a feeling that working on the website will all be done through FTP. Well, I left them two emails, one about this, and the other about going to a ‘benies-blogs.com’.
I’ll keep you posted once I have answers to these emails, via a new post (through this, not the website). And I also have more questions I should had asked them at the time;
1. Can the new website be placed on the current server(the ‘dallas122’ one)?
2. Once the old website is closed, will there be a new billing date? And if so, can I change it back to the current billing date?

But they will be answered in due time. I’ll just leave them alone for when they respond to me. Hopefully they’ll actually answer my questions as direct as I expect them to be.

The new home of ‘Benie’s General Blog’

So… I’m now forced to call this the new home of ‘Benie’s General Blog’. So, why? Why am I doing this? Well let’s say I had one of my episodes. More like, anger…
Alright. Here’s the story. See, beniesbuilds.com had moved a week ago to a new server. But there was a problem. Angry was not happy about reaching an area of the website that he was normally able to do so. He’s the brains of the site, and … I’m just the blogger. :/

He made a ticket with our hoster, Arvixe, about why he couldn’t access. And they said a bunch of things that I had no idea what they are. But it lead to them telling him that they would have to move the website to a ‘VPS’. It would had costed $20 a month.
Now that’s not bad at all. Yet, there’s one thing I wanted to know that they just kept attempting to avoid directly answering the question; can the billing date be moved. See, I get paid monthly. Every month. Doing it now, would be risky; compared to doing it like on the 5th of every month, would guarantee the funds would be there.

Yet like I said, they seemed to refuse to answer my question. So… why should I give them a dime if they’re this stubborn? Even as I type this, I just still don’t see why. Even though I was told by others that they’re paid to give you a semi-direct answer, it just feels like a bad way to treat your customers.
And angry, who I hoped would help me with this… *sigh* he never really cared. If he cared about this thing he wanted access to, he would had tried to calm me down. Or even, offer to pay for it. It was almost like he was doing this for me, and not for him. Yet he never said that.

For many years, the website hasn’t been used for its purpose. Benie’s Builds.com, was supposed to be a website of where I could show off my creations from Garry’s Mod(and other building games like Minecraft), and not feel like a ‘failure’ for them not working right. However, that never happened. The purpose of the site pretty much died off, and it turned into me doing what I’m doing right now; blogging about random things I find unfair in the world… and angry used it as his own personal coding sandbox.
This pretty much woke me up. “Why am I paying for something I’m not using fully?” When I told angry, he did his usual silent treatment. He has grown tired of me always complaining. Though you can’t really blame him. This is why I tell everyone that meets me and says I’m a nice guy, that they’re making a mistake by saying that.

Yet, I never once thought of “I should backup my blogs incase he shuts down the website”. I had forgotten how easy it is. I then went to ESO:TU. Was having issues trying to connect. I had checked my blogs, and notice how quickly they were 404ing (yet all other websites were up). This is when I felt a lump in my throat and knew he did some things (such as shutting down the website). Checked my email and saw a few new entries. One about an ‘account deletion’. It wasn’t my hoster, but I assume what angry was working on.

Could I had handled it better? Yes, I could. Looking back… as much as this bitch was pissing me off by dodging my question, I should had said after the second email(as calm as can be); “Yes, I know it can be set on the date when it goes active. But can it be changed to another date?” Yet, why even bother looking back at that now? The damage has been done. This isn’t something I can fix. Not even an “I’m sorry” to angry will help.
He’s going to demand I change my ways. That’s the only ‘fix’. Stop yelling at people who annoy me, and learn to deal with things that annoy me. And I cannot agree to this. Even with the games I play, I get so pissed at ‘gay’ game mechanics (getting knocked off my mount/dying/getting stunned and unable to fight yet the enemy can/etc…).
And that’s not the only thing he did. He’s removed himself from my friends list on Steam, and has de-friended me on Skype. His mother (the account of her) has as well…. and I deserve it.

*sigh* Whatever. I won’t dabble into this anymore. As I said, the damage has been done. Looking back at it will only make things worse. So that’s why I created a new blog out of the ‘ashes’ of the old one, via having it hosted here on WordPress. I’ve been using it for awhile, and some of the features I’ve grown accustomed to are behind paid options. I’m using the Free version currently.
I also managed to create a new Games blog, and somehow angry has decided to keep beniesbuilds.com up long enough for me to export all of my posts and have them moved to the new one. The process will take time (they have to do it… go through all my blog posts. The horror), but hopefully it’ll be done.
As for this blog, I don’t know what angry did to the old General Blog. Probably dust in the wind now. Though that old blog barely got any posts, it was known for getting a lot of unwelcomed traffic. Which is why the server move happened.

Though the mistake I made will be forever burned into my head, things will get better in a few weeks. At least, I hope.

It’s that ‘special’ day in my life again

Guess what day it is…
Sorry for the stretched image

That’s right, it’s my birthday. Even Google has decided to celebrate it when I was looking up the above image.
I’ll be officially 39 years old around 10-11am EDT. Already getting Happy Birthday emails from several of the websites I have accounts with.

So what am I going to do on my special day? The same day I do everyday. Wake up, eat breakfast, piss. Then play video games. Might go on the MRT to ‘celebrate'(more like sit around being bored). But it also includes a cake(chocolate fudge) and pizza(triple cheese from Papa Johns). Nothing all that fancy. No silly happy birthday song. 😛
Though I can’t forget how it was different last year, when I got the WoD Beta key. And we all know how well that turned out….
I’m just glad to live another year. That’s pretty much all I’m really happy for. Though when I get in my mid-40’s, I probably won’t be thinking that as much.

Might as well take advantage of my OK health when I have the chance. At least I’m still getting out and walking twice around the block everyday. Last weigh in, I was back down to 258LB. So go me. 🙂

Windows 10, the “is it worth upgrading?” debate

Since the start of the month, Windows 10 has once again been in many people’s minds. Some don’t like it, because it looks and feels like Windows 8.1 (and it also feels like it’s for a smartphone).
Others like Windows 10, and are trying to get the ones still thinking about it to do so.

Myself? They claim the free upgrade is available until August of next year. So I got plenty of time to think about it. But the reasons I haven’t went on and done it, are thus;
-No Windows 10 Upgrade Adviser to tell me that my current hardware WILL handle the update with no problems. There is a 64 bit version, which is good.
-I don’t believe it’ll be easy to downgrade back to Windows 7, without having to do a clean reinstall.
-No real way to do a clean install of Windows 10, as this is an upgrade and not a full version (they don’t give you a product key).
-To do clean install after a complete wipe of my C drive, I have to install Windows 7, and then the 10 upgrade everytime.
-It looks like Windows 8.1 (with those movable gadgets). Heard they can be removed, but… it’s still the principle.
-No “earlier versions of Windows” theme (what I’ve heard and read).
-Hearing that Microsoft can legally look through all of my hard drive’s contents(even my private folders). There is an option in the post-setup of Windows 10 to allow or disallow this to happen. But I don’t believe it’ll actually stop it.
-Hearing constant “having issues with (game here) through Windows 10!”.
-I don’t need my OS to talk to me. I’ve been fine without a talking computer for many, many many (did I say “many”?) years.

I have heard that it also has Direct X 12, which promises to support hardware that can handle Windows 7 (and give higher FPS to lots of games). I don’t believe this, especially hearing the complaints.
I feel that waiting, will give game companies a chance to fix these issues for users of Windows 10 (not to mention Microsoft releasing updates (and SP1 for Windows 10)).

Microsoft still supports Windows 7 (and respects people who don’t wish to upgrade yet), but on a non-security basis. Just last night, I got 13 updates. So 7 is going to be around for a pretty long time until it’s declared “dead” to them (aka not offering anymore support).

Final week of weight loss, a recap

Dan’s ‘NerdCubed FAT’ thing is now over. Yesterday morning, I was at the doctor to get the gashes on my hand looked at. They weighed me, it said I weighed 262 LB.

So overall, here’s my stats for the month;
Week 0: I started at 260 LB. I didn’t start my diet until the next day (Saturday) due to bad weather.
Week 1: Constant rain chances. Had to go walking on certain hours. I lost two pounds, and went down to 258LB.
Week 2: Was better. I went down to 255LB. We had a really nice stretch of weather.
Week 3: Very, VERY hot week. Didn’t get to walk much. Gained 4 pounds to 259LB.
Week 4: Got my injury from tripping and falling, lost a few days of walking from it and the heat. Had a few nice days though. Weight was clocked in at 262LB.

Overall… I only gained two pounds from the start of the challenge to the end. Am I going to keep it up, even though Dan’s challenge is over? Yes. Yes I am.
Losing weight is one thing, but maintaining my current weight is actually more important. I am not by any means, morbidly obese. I used to be in the 300LB range, but have really lost it over the years. As long as I continue to watch my calorie intake and walk every day, I should be good and “healthy” for a (hopefully) very long time. I hope to live to see my 60’s.

Week 3 of weight loss… I’m more pissed than a wasp

For four days of Week 3, I’ve been unable to do my walking due to how fucking hot it’s been. Next week won’t be any better. And sadly, it has costed me.
I weigh one pound more than I did on Week 1….. yeah. All of that loss, has been gained back.
I’m on the verge of giving up here. Fuck this diet! My mother told me; “You don’t need to walk! Just watch what you eat!”… this proves I do need to walk!
And since I didn’t lose any weight, I’m going to make it harder on myself. I’m going to work extra hard to burn as many calories as possible.
I’m going to walk two times a day. Once in the early morning, and once at night. This is going to make up for last week. Was told around 7-8am in the morning would be a good time to do so (for the morning walk).
Last week will be the final one before this FAT thing is over with. On top of that, Dan said in a Twitch chat with his main moderator, Matt, that he’s going to “slowly gain it back” in August.

He looks too skinny to even THINK about dieting! His father on the other hand, should (and is). Plus, they eat healthy foods; foods I would never put to my mouth. So why in the fuck do they care about dieting?! Because this is, as I said before, nothing but a promotional gimmick to get people to go on diets (and he’s using his fame to do so).
If this was a struggling Youtuber, only a few people MIGHT care.

“The Earth will be dark for 15 days” says NASA… “LOL NOPE!!”

While Earth celebrates a successful 9 year mission in the making (New Horizons doing its flyby of Pluto), the human race is in for a major event in late November.
According to “NASA” (and this article), they have “confirmed” that between November 15th to the 30th, there will be known as the ‘November Blackout’. Aka, what you see at night (or if you lived up in Iceland during the Winter months) will be for 15 DAYS… 15 days, of complete darkness. Day and Night, total darkness.
How it will happen, Venus and Jupiter will get in such a position which would cause Venus to heat up 10 times hotter than Jupiter, and cause Jupiter to send a shitload of Hydrogen at the Sun, causing it to turn blue for 15 days. This is how long it’ll take for the Sun to recover.
As for the planet to get a new ice age, “NASA” actually said the tempature of Earth will be 6-8 degrees warmer, due to the color of the Sun (as we all know, blue stars are hotter).

.
Right…so, this is what “NASA” said as a statement to the public…. and if you haven’t figured out how ridiculous the above sounds (and as many times as I put quotes around ‘NASA’),.. well, this is clearly a hoax. If you have, congratulations.
Basically, I saw the whole New Horizons thing on Twitter, and there was this site called ‘NewsWatch33.com’. Along the strange news that I personally never heard before, one really caught my attention, and that was the article that I linked at the beginning. It literally scared the shit out of me when I read it. I couldn’t breath, I felt I was frozen in fear. 15 days of… darkness?! Fuck!! It felt like one of those “End of the World” scenarios. Yet as time went on, I started to question the authenticity of this article (especially the fact the official website, NASA.org), said nothing about it.

I looked around the web, frantically searching for anything about this ‘November Blackout”. All I saw where references to a major power blackout in the Northeast US around 1965. Nothing about this. I narrowed my search, and found this website called ‘thatisfake.com’. Just by reading the description, it said this whole “15 days of darkness” thing is totally and completely false.
Here’s the article, calling this ‘NewsWatch33.com’ site a fake news website.
There was also other entries that I found while searching, stating “The world will plunge into darkness for 6 days in June 2015”, and that was made last year. And of course that was obviously fake (as we’re currently in July’s mid-month).

I mean, if you think about it, there’s just no way something like this could happen. It sounds way… way too Sci-Fi for it to be real. And the fact it was ONLY on that website, really made me question if this was a hoax. And it was. So rejoice, my fellow Earthlings! The world ISN’T coming to an end.. yet!
Still, it pisses me off how the owners of these websites do this for ‘shits and giggles’ by initiating fear on the public. It’s just as bad as the SPC issuing out a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for an area of the US, when there’s no real need for one.

The Samsung phone hacking scare.. that wasn’t a big deal

Before I start, I just want to leave this WARNING… this post is VERY long (and as detailed as I remember what happened). Please understand when attempting to read, and have patience.
Lastly, please understand I tend to get very… moody when I don’t get the answers I seek. Thank you.
-Benie

I’m finally using my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze, without fear once again. It has been quite an annoying two weeks for me because of this.
It all started with my father telling me about Samsung phones got hacked. I thought “that’s just not possible. There’s no way a hacker could get in without downloading a malicious app!”. He claimed he heard it on the news, yet I didn’t see anything. Still, it had me a bit worried.
During the (I think) 5pm news on my local channels, they mentioned it. It was a ‘software vulnerability’ that a hacker can get in and not only steal your personal info, but watch you using your camera and delete everything on your phone. My immediate reaction was, just not fucking use my phone.. ever. They claim Samsung knows about this and would release a fix.

A week later, my mother’s getting a bit annoyed at whoever I’m paying, saying “Why are you paying for something you can’t use?” I told her how T-Mobile can’t do anything about this, as this is Samsung’s problem.
After our conversation, this got me thinking. I’ve been meaning to see when said fix would be released for all Samsung phones (and why the media suddenly stopped talking about it, and has even to this day).
So I found Samsung’s website. There was nothing… NOTHING about this hacking attempt on the front page. This had me very curious, and also angered they weren’t putting more effort into informing their millions of users about this software flaw.

I discovered that Samsung’s support has chat as well, and used it. I asked them if they knew about this. At the time, they seemed they did and said “in a few days”(Keyword: ‘a few days’), a fix would be released. I told them I was too scared to even touch my phone when they said to make sure it’s set to accept software updates.
I then asked them if they would simply give me an email (or some form of notification) that said fix has been applied. They claim they couldn’t. Why? Seriously why?

I then asked T-Mobile. They claim (and still do) that they were never informed about this. They also told me of the times I’m afraid to use it, they would compensate me. At the time I didn’t know how that would be possible, but the person claimed they would look into my history and see when I have and haven’t used my phone. Also claimed they would leave a note on my account for the next agent to read it.
Lastly, was told to try to call Samsung to see if they could give me a second opinion. Curious, I did.

First call, the woman claimed that this whole “hacking attempt” was just the media blowing it out of proportion, and all of this other stuff. Not really helpful, as she never told me about the fix or when it’ll be pushed.
Second call, the woman here agreed with what I was told in chat with Samsung. I asked why(about not knowing when the fix would be released), and she claims that they can’t possibly tell me… how is that possible when they fucking work for the company?!

……………………

A week has passed, which brings me to today. I asked Samsung again in chat, thinking (and hoping) the fix was applied. I never got an answer until 10 minutes later after all of this other crap. Asked me what Android version I use (even after telling them I was too scared to turn it on).
Finally after another five minute delay, the fix STILL hasn’t been released. What happened to this “a few days” I was told a week ago? And then the person has the nerve to tell me to turn my phone on to “troubleshoot”, as if something was wrong with the phone. That… was my boiling point.
I said “There’s nothing wrong with my phone! What’s wrong is Samsung isn’t treating this seriously enough! Millions of Samsung customers need this fix! Where is it?!” The person tries to explain how they can’t push the fix all in one go, due to their servers. Oh wow.. all the sudden NOW you “work” for Samsung, when I was told before they didn’t know when it’ll be released??
I wonder if getting pissed with them, finally made them spill the beans.

I left a not so pleasant review after the conversation, then called Samsung in hopes I would get a non-BS answer… and surprisingly I DID.. and then some! His answer was pure common sense that I should’ve had as a consumer.
He started off by saying “as long as you got a secure connection, you won’t be hacked”. I explained how I use my ISP’s WiFi and with T-Mobile when not. He said both are secured and I should NOT have a problem!
He then continues on, how pretty much anything can have a software bug in it to allow a hacker; even a computer. And how it happens everyday. I explained how the media said what the hacker could do (which is not really something I ever heard happening to a computer).
He said too (as the woman in the first week that I called Samsung) that the media blew it out of proportion. He said how it started is someone found the software bug, got in. It spread. However, the fact it was such an isolated case, that “it just wasn’t a big deal” to Samsung. Which is why they didn’t rush the fix.
An.. isolated.. case? Are you serious? Why.. in the FUCK wasn’t I told this A WEEK AGO?!?!?!
He deeply apologized, and said that maybe those three other agents weren’t informed of Samsung’s statement. Wait.. they made a statement about this?! They actually said something?!

Now everything is coming together. That explains so much, and also makes me happy I get to use my phone again with no worries! 😀 Several times I really, really needed to due to the constant storm chances last week while trying to do that weight loss challenge. Plus now I can listen to my music while I do my daily walk.

So I talked to T-Mobile(just got done) about everything that happened (incase they didn’t have it on record). They assured me how they didn’t have this “hacking attempt” on their records. However, they felt sorry for me (to try to keep me a T-Mobile customer of course). Though the outcome, wasn’t really what I had expected.
The person claimed I would get $5 back as credit for every day that I “chose to not use my phone”.. really? ‘Chose to’? I… meh. No. I’ve been through enough of that.

As for that note, I was never informed if it was there or not. I assumed not, when the person told me how “I was promised”. I ended up only getting $5 at the end… I haven’t used my phone in two weeks, and I only got $5. How is that “every day”? Two weeks, isn’t a day. *deep sigh*… what..EVER!!
However, the person made it better by telling me there would be no tax when I put in the extra $45 to pay for this month’s bill. No tax? FUCK YEAH!! :D… or so I thought.
Went to go and pay for it. Hello.. ‘Tax: $4.15. Grand total $49.15! PAY PLOX!!’ Um, no? Where’s my “no tax” promise?
Final conversation with T-Mobile, asking why is there a tax when I was told there wouldn’t be. The person, exclamation points at the end of nearly every sentence as an ‘attempt’ to make me feel welcomed, gives me an additional $4.15 credit. Now that’s something to exclamation point about!
In one hour from now, the person says the credit should be in the system (aka on their website). So, very nice. Very happy.

.
In conclusion of this very lengthy story… there’s really not much to say. I’m both happy, and pissed (at myself). However, I’ll be calm here.
I should had used common sense on Day 1. The media always likes to make things more serious than they actually are, just for their ratings. And they don’t give a fuck if it’s not actually true.
But given how they phrased the seriousness, wouldn’t you, my readers, do the same thing? Would you? If yes, then you know what I went through. If no… meh. I don’t care.
When it comes to my security (on both my phone and my computer), I take it very seriously (as one should). Not having answers of a fix, and Samsung claiming they don’t know when it’ll be (as if their support agents are separate of the devs working on the fix. They probably are), of course I would be very pissed and worried at the same time.
The fact Samsung said (to me)… nothing, absolutely nothing of what I should do as a consumer, it felt they just didn’t care for their customers. Yet in reality, it just wasn’t a big deal to push the fix quickly. And it took two weeks, to know this. Two. Weeks.

*sigh* Whatever. It’s done. I pray that something like this, never gets mentioned ever again by the media. I want to continue to trust Samsung that they know what they’re doing.

At the end, I’m just glad I can use my phone again, and not worry about this shit. I got enough things to worry about in my life.
As for the refund, I wouldn’t care if it wasn’t given to me if they were just as greedy as I was. Being able to use my phone again, is all that I want.
