Learning the ropes and dealing with annoyances, all in one day

I finally got ahold of their Live Chat and got to speak to them. After 30 minutes, the password got resetted and I now have access into cPanel.
Already I’m blown away by the complexity. Some buttons look familiar, while others I’m scared to touch thinking they’ll blow my mouse cursor up. I did figure out how to change the theme to make the thing look easier to understand.

Even the File Manager, I had forgotten where I go to do webpages. Plus, I don’t know how to go about adding a second blog. I have to learn all of this if I am to own this future ‘benies-blogs.com’ website.
I did figure out how to change the homepage. Thank goodness for that. A standard index.html will still work. I just hope nothing happened to the blog there.

Also, I got ahold of Live Chat for the second thing. All answers were good. Everything looks good. And now, it falls to me to do it. I decided not to have them delete beniesbuilds.com for now. I need it up for reference, to make sure I get the first blog installed. Haven’t bought the new domain yet. I’m debating if it should be called .com or something else. It seems .buzz is available, which feels more fitting for a blog-only website (buzz = news, news of my words in a blog). Yet it’s also the most expensive option for a domain, being $33.50. Where a .com is only $10.

I also need to figure out how to do multiple blog installs (to get my General blog back up). Been told it’s possible, but it sure looks complicated. I have to use MySQL, something I’ve never touched in my life (or remember doing so). This is why I’m leaving the old website alone until I master this.

.
EDIT: Change of plans. Major change. Getting the new domain is now on hold until next month. I was planning on buying the new domain, thinking the $9.95 was a one time fee. It’s actually a yearly fee, just like the hosting. Infact, the date cannot be changed (again).

And again, I felt I had to hogtie a bull to get that fucking answer out of them. Seriously.. why? At least this time I stayed calm for as long as possible. But the more he(the Live Chat guy) persisted in avoiding my question, the more determined I got to force him to answer it.
He finally told me some bullshit about this “ICANN policy”, where the date cannot be changed. But wow, I had to take the horns for THIS?! Why? Why can’t they just tell me, without fighting me?
Yet even if it could be changed, the new bill would be nearly $70/yr. That’s more than what I would pay with beniesbuilds. And that’s just not right.

So I’ve decided to wait ’till either the 4th or 5th of next month, then have them cancel the old hosting account(hopefully there’s no cancellation fees). Then I won’t have to pay $10/yr more. I’ll get it for free instead.
I did also have an idea and had done an extensive search to try to find a cheaper .com option, then I could have Arvixe host it for me. Alas, I couldn’t find anything cheaper than $2.99 on GoDaddy, but they wanted me to agree with a 2-year thing where they would raise it to $15/yr. And if that is insane, there was this website of when I checked, it instantly went into its cart and wouldn’t let me look unless I registered. Found a way around it, and they want a whopping $34/yr.. geezus.

It looks like waiting is my only option. It seems it’s the only way possible to still pay $60/yr, but “change” beniesbuilds.com into benies-blogs.com. It’s not physically possible to change a domain’s name. Only way is to remove the old and usher in the new (and have a new yearly billing date).
Another thing I could do (and it’s actually smarter), is to just allow the hosting plan to expire on November 25th, then quickly get another one for benies-blogs.com. That way, the billing date would stay.

Either way would give me time to get familiar with cPanel, so in ways, this is a good thing to wait. I can do the same thing I was going to do on the new website; have a new webpage to replace the homepage(maybe put a visitor counter on it, just to bring back the old (good) days of TheBeaverDam.com), and have my two blogs pointing away from the main page (aka ‘beniesbuilds.com/games’ and ‘/general’). All I need to figure out is how angry managed to make my Games blog as the homepage, and change it. That’s probably going to be one of the hardest things to figure out.
At least, I wouldn’t be forced to use this piece of shit(that keeps thinking I want to share my blog posts with the world) anymore. It’ll be back on beniesbuilds (temporarily).
