Website back up after a hosting technicality

So, that was pretty awkward. Four days ago, I said how it was this website’s birthday. With it being that, that also means I’ve paid the hosting (as the domain comes with it). Since it’s on an automatic pay system, they get to choose when the $60 is taken out.

Well today I was checking my email, and Thunderbird was telling me how my website mail was timing out. Thought “meh, probably an issue on Arvixe’s end. Better check the website just to make sure.” I do, and my heart goes into my throat when I see the website has expired. Again, the yearly fee covers the domain, and I was pretty sure the thing has already been paid months ago. As you see, this didn’t make sense to me in the slightest.

So I have to ask Arvixe. Waited three minutes to speak to someone using their Live Chat. The person takes 10 minutes until they respond to me. Looks like they still haven’t hired more people and are working them like slaves.
Anyway, they got the domain back up as you can see. The reason is due to a technical glitch on their end that kept my domain from being automatically renewed (as it’s free with the hosting). Hopefully this doesn’t happen again next year.
Don’t remember if this ever happened in the past with angry and I having beniesbuilds.com, or even further when I had a website for TV shows.

Happy birthday, Benies-Blogs.com!

It’s been one year since this website went up from the remains of beniesbuilds.com. I still remember the hell I went through of Arvixe…and what lead to this being a thing. All because I wanted to know when they would take the money out. It was such a simple question, and yet I was forced to wrestle them to the ground to get an answer.
So, yay. A somber victory. Wish I had prepared a cake, but I don’t think a website could ‘eat’ it.

But anyway, here’s to another year and even more blog posts!

Happy birthday to me (40 years old)

The big 4-0. Can’t believe I lived this long. Though I’m probably going to start to dread my birthday years in the future, as I’m not going to be getting any younger. I do in ways, feel older. Not in the best way, though.
Last year’s politically correct image of what a ‘birthday’ really is, I decided to ‘show’ this to everyone I knew in Discord in order to get a reaction out of them. It’s only failed once (but it’s to be expected in a channel that no one gives a fuck about me… the MRT Discord channel).
Oh well. Can’t win ’em all. At least Google has once again gave me a nice present. But even mother nature doesn’t care, as today it’s going to be off and on rain with a Marginal risk of severe weather around dinnertime.

Got $100 in the bank from my mother, so I’m thinking of buying Starbound and the Fallout 4 Season Pass. I had also considered buying No Man’s Sky, but really..it’s not worth the $60 asking price (at all).
Other than that, I’m currently enjoying the first slice of my birthday cake. It’s another one of those chocolate on chocolate cakes from Kroger.

Apparently furries dislike being stereotyped

(As always, my words are my own and do not represent the opinions of others).

Furries, creatures of unknown origin. Where they born as humans and somehow morphed into animal-like beings over the years? Or did they just suddenly decide to put on a fur suit to hide from their own insecurities as a human? Who knows.
I personally, have absolutely no problem with furries (being a scalie myself). But what I do have a problem with, is they rarely (if ever) act like who their dressed as. They tend to act like a normal human, which just gets under my scales for some odd reason.
This mainly brings me to what’s been happening on the MRT. Since this isn’t game-related, I found it fitting for it to be in here. But this also isn’t just the MRT. It’s also what I’ve seen of Youtube.

Take Vulpicula for example. He says his name is German or something for ‘Fox’, yet he isn’t going around trying to dig holes or run from the sound of a horn(or ‘Yiffing’). Instead, he’s a game developer and an overall great guy to talk with. He uses nearly the same kind of capital letter and pronunciation that I use (if not better).
Yet again, he refuses to act like the suit he’s wearing. And one time I swear he seemed like he didn’t even want to be a furry (yet he still logs in with the same emotionless fox suit). Quite an odd fellow.

And of course I can’t forget someone who has been slightly bugging me that their animal status is better than mine. It’s bad enough when you have an animal as your skin(and not act like it), but then have the animal’s name as your last name. Aka, CortesiRaccoon. He has even gone past that to show a rather (in my opinion) disturbing avatar on Discord of being in a Raccoon suit who is in a ‘welcoming’ pose.
And he, like Vul, completely ignores being in a suit and acts like a normal human. Lately he’s changed his avatar to look something like a blue dog in heat, leaning on a fence post.
That’s just..ugh. But what bugs me very much of his ‘status’ as a Mod when I’m a lonely Mayor (when dragons are much more powerful than a raccoon), is in the past, this is the same guy who drove me insane with WorldEdit requests when I was a Mod. Though back then, he was just known as “Cortesi” (he’s also no longer a Mod).
Don’t get me wrong, Cortesi’s a nice guy to talk to. Though I just wish he’d drop the “Raccoon” in his name.

But the biggest (and I have to say my words very carefully here) ‘insult’ to dragon-kind has to go to Aavak (who as I mentioned several times has a Youtube channel). But this isn’t just Aavak, but several other Youtubers who use furry or dragon avatars (one of them being IGP’s friend, WeaselZone). Hardly any one of them want to act like the avatar they have picked for their channel. And I’m really curious as to know why.
Why pick that avatar if you don’t wish to be like that avatar?

Now I know what you guys must be saying “Dude, grow up! Ever thought that they don’t want to act like the animal they picked is because it’s embarrassing?!” And you would be right. But why even be in a suit at all if they don’t wish to be embarrassed?
And of course your response would be “Because they like that animal? There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Well tell that to my 10 year old brain who thinks it is something wrong with that. I mean I get the whole want to be ‘born’ as a chosen animal, but there’s really no need to be embarrassed by it! If you want to be a fox, go ahead! If you want to be a dragon, go ahead! But I expect you to act like the animal you choose!

And I guess this is what furries are actually.. against? But actually I think I know, and Zootopia has probably given the answer to me. And it’s wasn’t the “Try Everything” song (which still makes me bust out laughing when CinemaSins got ahold of it).
The moral of that movie was mainly not to discriminate predator from prey (aka what’s currently going on IRL with whites discriminating against blacks).
But this isn’t exactly the point. The point, is even though you’re a fox, you’re not expected to be digging holes and stuff like that. You can act just like a normal human would, but as an animal. You’ve moved on from your animalistic ways and adopted the human life.

So really, that’s why furries don’t act like their animal counterparts. They have evolved from it. Not because it’s ’embarrassing’, but because it’s just not worth going back to those ‘dark’ days.
And that pretty much puts the blame on me and others that feel like they do need to act like their animal counterparts. As that’s mainly because how mainstream media has portrayed animals who speak human words in the past. This is how we were grown up into, that animal-like humans (capable of human speech) actually do act like their primitive brothers and sisters. And all the sudden, they aren’t.
It’s a shock to the system, and hard to comprehend.. especially for me.

Doing the two-step verification shuffle (Damnit, Steam!)

So this is rather ridiculous of Steam. Yesterday, I received two new trading cards from purchasing Stardew Valley. I was going over my trading card list when I saw I still had duplicate trading cards I needed to sell (that haven’t). Thankfully, this extra money is only added to the Steam Wallet and can act as a discount chest for purchasing a game. It has worked quite well for me in the past.

But now, things have changed and they make no sense to me. Before, all I would need to do is find the card I wanna sell, look at how much I’ll get for it and list that as the Seller price. The Buyer price(that the buyer has to pay for if they want my card) is like a few pennies more from that (I guess to cover Steam’s tax system). But it costs me absolutely nothing to do this.
Sorry, going back to the blog title. I was slightly rambling a bit there. There’s only one button of “do you wish to place your card?”, I say Yes, and that’s it! The card is now sellable and the duplicate is removed from my list. Simple. No muss no fuss.

Now…now I have to go through hell. After saying “yes” to the first thing, I have to say Yes via an email. Uhh.. why? I wouldn’t had said “yes” if I didn’t want to. Whatever. Ok, and then it gets placed on a week hiatus. Why? I have to get some fucking Steam Guard verification app on my phone!! WHAT THE HELL, STEAM?!?! Twice I have to say “yes” for a stupid Trading Card?! It’s not like I’m selling my organs to science, or upgrading to Windows 10!
Steam Guard has been more of a nuisance than helpful to me. But that’s mainly when I have to get into my Steam account via the Internet instead of the Steam browser. I actually feel like getting rid of it. Though, this would possibly do more harm than good. So I’ll just leave it alone.

If Steam wants people to trade Trading Cards, don’t make it hell on Earth. Of course, I realize that trading cards aren’t the only things one can trade. There’s also goods like weapons in some online games (like CS:GO, TF2, and others). Yet if they’re supposed to be traded, why does one have to do a two-step “Yes, I want to fucking sell it, Steam”?! Just why?
You’re not our parents, Steam. Stop acting like it.

Made a thread about 20 minutes ago, and had it locked without any reason as to why. Wow. Did get my answer, though. Quite obvious, too. Kids. They’re bitching they lost money (even though it clearly explains you’ll lose the card). That’s why they did this stupid thing.
*double facepalm* Thanks, Obama!

The things Microsoft is getting away with (Edit: Not anymore)

If you said the Windows 10 upgrade, you would not be incorrect. And like most of my posts, this one may contain vulgar adult language. If you are offended by such things, please do not read this blog post. Thank you.

With this out of the way, I guess most of you heard the rather highly questionable tactics that Microsoft is doing to ram Windows 10 down our throats. First, it was a simple popup that showed for Windows 7 and 8.1 users, installed via a “security update” that contained a program called ‘GWX.exe’. It was made undetectable by all anti-virus scanners.
Quite a few videos went up, explaining how you can block the executable from running in the registry. I even tried this, and it worked. And then Microsoft pushed another ‘security update’ with a version of GWX that could not be removed as easily. Right there, we knew they were up to something.

And now, it’s reached the point where the Windows 10 update will load itself even if you tell it not to! Basically, the ‘X’ button the upper right hand corner, that our brains have been trained to understand it means to Close the window, they made it where the install will happen. What the hell.
And congress is doing nothing to stop this. Microsoft not only lying to the consumer, but also literally misleading them!

Now I hear a few people actually like Windows 10 (after attempting to disable all known ways Microsoft will snoop through your hard drives). I don’t have a laptop or even a second computer, just to check out the OS. And even from watching a video, this guy is sitting there that he believes in a few years from now, most of us will forget all of this nonsense. I call BS. How can I possibly forget something like this?
You cannot convince me that 10 is worth knowing I have no control over who looks through my private files.
And finally, the free year for the upgrade will be coming to a close by the end of next month (July). I would imagine Microsoft is going to throw everything it has to force us to get this.

With that said, I cannot stress enough that if you’re like me and you say FUCK YOU to Microsoft doing this shit, get the GWX Control Panel! It will not only remove GWX.exe from launching, it will make sure NO traces of Windows 10 are showing up on your computer. Even going as far as disabling Windows Updates from automatically installing.
It’s also frequently updated to where Microsoft tries to bypass this, it will catch and stop it before it happens! It’s a great way to give them the middle finger.

Just one thing. The website that hosts is.. well, it does look slightly better than my homepage. But the program was well made, and well trusted.
So here’s the website, below this sentence. Get it, and tell Microsoft where they can stick Windows 10 in. Because it’s not going in your computer.
http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/

EDIT: Great work, consumers. You’re fighting back the beast! I hear lawsuits are being filed against Microsoft over Windows 10 (and WINNING them)! Now, it seems they have finally backed down with July 29th (the day the free upgrade finally expires) with a thing that gives you an option to fucking FINALLY DECLINE THE UPGRADE, and it will not bug you anymore!! 😀

Microsoft, if you didn’t release Windows 10 with forced Windows Updates and spying, I would had probably accepted your offer. Buuuuut, you didn’t. And it’s so.. SO good that we are fighting back your bullshit! It restores a small piece of humanity.

.
EDIT2: Microsoft’s ‘free’ update to Windows 10 has finally expired! If you weren’t tricked to upgrade and stuck to your guns on your preferred OS(if you have Windows and not Linux or something like that), then hoorah! You’re FREE from the horror that was GWX.exe!
And if you’re using the GWX Control Panel, you won’t need it anymore. I personally am keeping mine active, just incase there’s a backlash over this and they try for one last push. Legally, they aren’t allowed to do this… but that doesn’t mean they won’t try.

Error: 30MB down not found.. readjusting to 200MB down

The update has happened. The free 200MB speed jump from my ISP, has happened. Happened around 1:55am.
Was deleting all of my watched ED videos (to help remove the thought of ever playing it), and went to the bottom to make sure I got them all. Notice the thumbnails weren’t showing up and thought it was just a glitch.

Went back to the Youtube homepage and refreshed, and notice it wouldn’t load. Just happened to glance over at my modem and saw it wasn’t connected. Instantly I thought “..Ohh shit! I’m getting the upgrade!!!”
A minute later, it went back online. Checked Speedtest and did a test. I had my doubts it actually was the upgrade, then my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw it shoot over 30MB, over to the red zone AND STILL GOING UP!!! 😀
And my upload speed is almost my old download speed, sitting at 24MB. That’s a far cry from being 5MB before. So the totals were 199.64MB down(did go up to 202MB), and the 24.00MB up.

Checked Thunderbird (my email client). No email from Time Warner. I assume I’ll get one in the morning. But this is AWESOME!! I’m 170MB faster now, and for the same price as before!
Ohhh…I can’t wait to watch a random Youtube video tomorrow afternoon, and pray to the lord and savior Jesus Christ, that I will never, ever, have a buffering issue when trying to watch a video in 1080p for the rest of my pathetic life!

.
Or.. so I thought. About 5 days ago, there was emergency maintenance. And since then, I’m getting buffering issues again. This time, Time Warner won’t do shit about it because they don’t see a problem on their end.
The problem is high ping, around 40-60. Yet they’re all “well, if it’s not at 100, there’s no real issue”. All I know is it was working perfectly. Now, it’s not. I’m still getting the 200MB.. sometimes. In some servers I check with Speedtest.net, sometimes the speed can be between 50MB to 230MB down.
Do know this, of what has been happening ever since the upgrade. When downloading, sometimes the speed fluctuates instead of staying at a constant speed as before.

Am I really not seeing the “fun” in gaming anymore?

When I was young, sure, I enjoyed gaming. But I believe I’ve finally reached that stage in my life that gaming feels.. boring. Maybe it’s the fact it’s all I really do for a living and nothing else.
Or maybe I’ve been playing too many bad games, that I just see no hope in what a “good” game is anymore. Or something I…I don’t know anymore why I’m like this.

Even when playing a game I’ve never played before, I try desperately to enjoy it. But it really doesn’t want me to. Because it seems the only “good” games out there are $60. Yet most of the time, that’s not true. High priced games tend to be avoided by most smart consumers.
I think it was Elite: Dangerous that caused this feeling. The feeling of un-ending ‘Game Depression’ of when no game out there is fun or interests me, no matter how flashy it is. Usually, it will go away over a week or two. This one, has lasted a lot longer. And…well… *sigh* I think the only real “fix” is a good FPS like DOOM. But then it’ll get to a point when the non-stop killing gets repetitive and not fun anymore.

Again, it feels like Elite: Dangerous did something to me. Here I thought it was Blizzard with WoD, but I think this game was worse in “breaking my spirit”. Its repetitive, grindy nature of making money could be the reason. And the sad part is, most if not all games are grindy in one way or another!
A video game is nothing more but a time sink, yet so is grinding. And I think this is what ruined my fun. To me, grinding = boredom. To the point I wish I could bash my head into my wall (without it hurting or causing me more fatal issues). But maybe then will I finally stop feeling this feeling. Hell, it almost feels like bashing my head against a wall is a lot more interactive than any game I’ve played this year.

I’m sick and tired of games that the devs rely on 3rd party websites for players to get help with their game, such as Elite Dangerous and others like it. And it seems to be happening more and more with these newer games. Or, if they do explain it, they do it in a way that is too over-complicated where it makes literally no sense.
This whole money-hungry attitude instead of providing really good games, I feel it’s making me lose faith in the video game industry as a whole. Don’t really think I’m alone in that.

There’s also when I have an issue and make a post in the forums, I have to literally tell them of what I know about the game. They won’t look into my post history or whatever to see that I’ve actually played the game enough.
For example, I bought Wurm Unlimited. But before I did, I made a post stating that I’ve played the Online version and like it, yet I don’t like this. Made another thread telling them why I refunded the game. And I got a few posts about “I wish people would play the online version before they play this”…
Honestly, I was too fed up to even respond by saying “Uhh… I HAVE played the Online version, you idiot!”

Maybe I just haven’t found that right game yet. Or, maybe it’s true that there’s really no game out there that I will truly enjoy and keep playing (and won’t find a way to bitch about something).

iDNS: “Move your free domain over to be charged $45/yr!”

So I got a rather interesting letter in the mail today, from an ‘iDNS’. I assumed it would be another thing from a random company thinking I’m making money with my website. *facepalm*
But this one, had a warning. A warning that my website will expire “in the next two months” if I don’t move it over to these people, for $45/yr). AFAiK, Arvixe offers free domain parking. So, why should I, if ever, move my domain over to them?

I don’t know if I should be paranoid, or… it’s just, I’ve never gotten anything like this in the life of owning a domain. So I tried to contact Arvixe. And they..they didn’t really seem to give a fuck. Sure, they tell me that yes, the domain is free and I should not be getting an invoice. So…why am I?!
I wanted the rep to do research on this ‘iDNS’, but all they did was repeat and said to “please ignore those letters”. I could had fucking told myself this!!

So I threw the letter away. Still don’t know why I got this. My only guess is this was a scam. Even the website they provide (no telephone number by the way) screams ‘scam’. It’s a ‘www.idns.ac’ website. If you would like to help me do research on this, feel free to drop me an email of your results. And thank you in advance.

Why I’m not sure of what to do (video wise)

So, been getting quite a lot of emails of where’s the next mini-playthough. And my honest answer is…I don’t know if it’s worth doing it anymore.
I mean, it was fun back then. ESO was shit (to me) back then, and the videos gave me something fun and challenging to do. I almost felt like a true Youtuber. Yet I didn’t care for subscribers like most (if not all) other Youtubers out there. I just enjoyed doing it. I enjoyed getting the word out for bad games.

But recently, I began to lose interest. Mainly since last month. Guess I was getting bored with video games in general; bored that I can never find a game I like (and don’t shit on it because it made me bored due to over-playing it).

Another thing is I’m completely fed up of the 30 minute limit. I feel if I just had more time, I could make a much more enjoyable video. I would had loved to do a GTA5 Online video of me just messing around. Yet I would need a lot of recording time as that game is unpredictable. More time means I would be able to have the good parts, and remove the boring parts.
The problem is, there could be more boring parts than good parts, and take away the time I need for the good parts. And I only have 30 minutes to record…something, be it all boring or mostly boring and some good. Very frustrating.

There’s also another thing that’s uninteresting me. And that is Tulsi, my only subscriber to my second channel. He won’t watch my videos. One time I tried to get him to comment of one of my latest videos, and he just didn’t really seem that interested (or went AFK and never came back).

So…why bother anymore? And he makes it even more harsh by saying “im your only subscriber”. Remember when I said I didn’t care about subscribers? Yet what I would care for, is some “good work, keep it up” compliments. That’s all, people. That’s all I want. Just some support that you guys (and gals) like what I’m doing.

And…until I get it, I don’t think I’m going to be doing another video for awhile (if ever). If that comes to pass, I won’t remove the videos I’ve done. There’s no need for that. I just, won’t be doing any more.
