Repainting wings = PAIN IN (HANDS)

The day where I finally stop telling friends “one day I’m going to add wings to this
avatar” and actually do it. I (reluctantly as the models are on a website (vrcmods) my friends told me to stop going to of what they (the website owner) did in the past and I dunno if they’re still doing it so I used a Private Window to hide myself from
them) grabbed the download.

So this wing pack I got (according to Bad) has 7 wings. Two of them are dragon wings. Looking at them, I chose these to be my wings;
I mean look.. they have actual wing claws!! I don’t have to depend on a friend from years ago to jury rig the damn things on the wings in Blender! Yeee!
Little did I know how much ‘fun’ it would be to recolor this bad boy. Simply throwing it into Gimp and using the Hue setting would prove a fail. The only way was to select each and every tiny pixel that makes up the wing arm and fingers (and eventually the
webbing) with the Fuzzy Select tool. This. simple task. took. WAY too fucking long!!
To be fair though, I was also doing multiple other things that were cutting in on this task.

Finally, by 1am I was DONE with both areas (the wing arm, fingers, and the
webbing), even going as far as making sure the wing claw doesn’t get repainted.
Getting the orange in was a bit of a challenge (as it looked more yellowish in Unity), but I found a ‘burnt orange’ color that works for my needs. Overall like the design, but I also wish I could remove most of the detail and go with a more ‘toon’ look (like my sona). But I dunno. Kinda also like the shading as it adds a realistic-like feel to the wings. Except this clashes with the ‘toon’ style of my sona..

Now, onto setting up the toggle animation to extend the wings (from their folded position).
I thought this was going to be simple. I’ve done this before. Just fold the wings via posing and make sure both the left and right wing have the same Transform properties. Easy as pie.
“Don’t. you. believe iiiiit!!”
I had the left wing done and wrote down the Transforms. I also wrote down the right wing’s ones as that’s what I would be using for the animation itself.. but when I tried to copy and paste the Transforms from the left wing to the right wing, it wouldn’t let me do it right. The wing kept on going off in weird ass directions.. and it was getting close to 6am again.

Blender speaks and nearly loses me as a friend

Meanwhile (around 9:20 in the evening as I was still working on selecting the wing skeleton in Gimp for repainting), Blender spoke by saying “are you doing ok now?” ..that didn’t help my mood with him. I expected more.. than him acting like this was my fault.
He also explained something he went though for the past two days. Not of being taken advantage of by these friends that keep asking him to do things (nooo not that), but of a friend who’s been in trouble of being an avatar stealer. Plus it got Orion and Shaw involved. This might had tied into why Orion suddenly wanted to join me when I was
with Bad.
Then after I told him that I was just giving him space as I felt he was embarrassed of my actions, he said “Yes…” Made my brain assume I was right.. and that hurt. Then I
said “don’t worry, I won’t embarrass you infront of your friends anymore,” he said “Ok.”
…Wow. Wow, Blender. If I’m that much of an embarrassment to you, why the FUCK do you still have me around?! HUH?!
Then he asked if I’m going to get on VRC. ..After what you just said?! No!! Never fucking again! He was confused, asking why. I stood there, my jaw opened. But instead of saying anything, I copied and pasted what was just said ten seconds ago. And instead of
saying “..oh my god, I’m so sorry!! I didn’t mean it like that!!”, he made it worse by
saying “I don’t get embarrassed easily”. Like I’m just supposed to remember him saying this right now, over how I feel.
Though he did say “I am so gosh darn bad with words” which did somewhat help, I felt the damage was already done with him persisting I join him claiming he finally took time off to be with me. Plus I felt ashamed he even did so. Sure it’s what I wanted, but having to ask for it brings me shame. It should had come to him, to do so (just like saying I’m his BF to his friends).
Simply told him “I’m sorry. I can’t.” Then he tells me that someone wants to speak to me. Since I didn’t feel like getting on, I said “They can talk to me in Discord, if they want.”
I then let him have it saying “even though you’re taking time off now, you’re just going to go back to how things were, back to your friends and forget about me after this is over. You told me you’d try to spend more time. Look what happened. Nothing changed. You keep promising but you tend to forget your promises.” ..I was this close from saying “I’m sorry but this isn’t going to work out between us…,” but I remembered what Bad said.
I thankfully calmed down, and tried to explain why I feel what I feel to him. “I have
been trying… trying… and keep trying to be patient with these problems of yours. I know you can’t help it. But some days my patience wanes.”

This went on with how I’m “tired of getting on and everyone I want to join is on Orange status” and getting tired asking for an invite.
Then he asks “What about DaG_GeR?” I said “The one that gifted me VRC+ as a troll? Oh I remember him.” So the guy wants to talk to me, and I said “And I know exactly why.” After the mass-purging of friends, he likely wants to ask ‘Dude why’d you unfriend me bro?’ as he never asked to join me or wanted me to join him. Plus we don’t talk that much.
Blender wasn’t sure, but eventually I was right. Wow. Some ‘friend’. But he said DaG_GeR “doesn’t ask for invites”. Ah alright, the same as myself. That makes sense. And after that, he told me the guy understood why I unfriended.
Went back to work on the wings after it.
