Possibly restarting video production today / Another game

Two things here. First off, the extraction site is healing nicely. Thank you for your kind emails of getting better soon. It means a lot, and lets me know you guys really do care about what I’m doing, and understand that health always comes first.

I don’t have to put a gauze in my mouth anymore, thanks to putting teabags in my mouth instead(dentist told me to). They helped what was left of the bleeding. Because of this, I feel I should be OK enough to start recording videos again. My speech might be a bit slurred; still recovering from the dentist. So, just warning you. But I’ll do my best to be as clear as I can.

.
On top of that, I may or may not be getting ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ in the mail today from Gamefly(depending if they deliver on the weekend). This game (I feel) is going to be fun to review, and I might even buy it (it’s $24 compared to $60 on retail).
Dan likes it, so I might. Then again I might not. But how can you not like a guy with two longswords (that are also upgradable)?

Anyway, even if I don’t get the game ’till Monday (which is more likely), I’ll still be reviewing the first of the two free PS+ games for the PS4.

December 2015’s PS+ lineup for the PS4

Two games this month to mark the end of 2015. This just made my life easier. Unfortunately, the videos will have to wait for up to a week before I’m able to record them, due to recovering from the dentist (can’t review with a mouthful of gauze).

Anyway, this month’s PS+ games for the PS4 (that I’ll be reviewing when I’m healed up), are…
Gauntlet: Slayer Edition
Kings Quest: Episode 1 “Knight to Remember”

As I said, “up to a week”. In 4-7 days I should be back to normal and able to record without pain. I’m sure you all understand.

Independence? More like MOBpendence!

Independence for mobs — free of being slaughtered. At least, that’s what they believe. They’re pretty much everywhere, and also populating their numbers.
With me, I wanted some Tar for the two lanterns I made. Both are 35QL. Not bad compared to five years ago.
First off, Fall has come to Independence. And second, I was going to Xanadu (not the server, the old village) as I remembered somewhere there was a tar pit. Discovered a half-done cave canal that was linking from the North coast to Black Pine Forest. Seeing how I actually had my sickle with me (unlike the last time I visited), I decided to go there first.

Took awhile to find the canal, but I did finally find it. It’s called “Pingpong’s Folly”. I remember seeing a ‘Pingpong’ in kchat. Anyway, I went in. Was greeted by an Aged lava fiend who tried to grab me out of my boat and nom on my head, but thankfully I was too fast. The tunnel stopped, with a bunch of boats (finished and unfinished) littering the area. Ahead was a long, bumpy tunnel that went up. Halfway up this unlit three wide tunnel, my Combat tab started to flash again. A bear that I didn’t see, aggro’d me. Was able to outrun it without getting damaged (the whole “outrunning” will be said a LOT in here) and made a mad dash for the boat, screaming “COME ON!! RAISE!!” at my character raising the anchor.

The bear didn’t pursue me further, so I stopped. Off to my right, I saw a deed guard running towards the front of the cave. I’m thinking “Oh wow. Get back up there and help him!” So I did, and the bear was dead. There was also another lava fiend near the exit of the tunnel. I ran backwards, trying to lure it to the guard. It died too.
Finally with the tunnel secured, I went up and to the exit. Here.. I didn’t recognize where I was. The landscape had really changed. But I went on and started harvesting pine tree sprouts with my sickle.

Before I was able to get 20 sprouts, I had encounted four spiders, a mountain lion, and two wolves. No med wounds. Was pretty blown away with the number of mobs I encountered. Though it was a bit hilarious. You could play the Benny Hill theme for how much I was running back and forth trying to keep the spiders off me.

And then, when I tried to get back to my boat… a diseased mountain lion and a bear somehow spawned in. It was like the game was trying to kill me.. literally. So I made a mad dash for the canal entrance, down the tunnel as quick as I could, and made it to my boat. Thankfully, being lightweight, I was able to outrun them.

So I went to Xanadu, thinking surely I won’t see as many mobs as I did before. Arrived at a dock and got off, went up a ramp and there were these two large doors infront of me… and also an anaconda who wasted no time chasing me BACK down the ramp and to my boat. Was able to pull the anchor up just before it was preparing to attack me. Kind of lured it away. Then I turned around and got back to the dock after losing the snake.
Back up the ramp I went, and went through the doors. Right from the start, a crock AND a scorp both saw me! I’m all “LOL NOPE” and run backwards. Thankfully they didn’t run after me due to the doors.

By this time I’m getting really concerned if I’m going to reach that tar pit.. alive. I found an alternate way up, and prayed it would be mob-free. I see a ‘hell horse’ in the distance. And when I think I’m safe, a cave bug shows up. Here, I’m all “FUCK this! I’m going home.” And then to top it all off, before I can get to my boat, a troll somehow spawned in. What the FUCK is going on?!?!
Was able to get away from both the cave bug and the troll. Was seriously fed up and knew I had to focus on getting armor, just to survive this new Mobpendence.

I went to the Alliance tab, hoping to get some sympathy (and maybe some advice). What I got, was a LOT more than that (in a good way mind you) by a guy named “Ghostofdeath”. He offered a full 50QL set of Studded armor. All I had to do was go there and pick it up. Seeing I was halfway to home, I turned around and went there.
I arrived north of Quincy Mine. Ghost was busy imping the set, so I decided to go to his place, ‘Valyrian Steel’.
Unfortunately, having no knowledge of the roads here, I got lost quite a few times. Even having to outrun a troll and a wolf. I swear to god, the game hates me for coming back.
Telling Ghost I was lost, he got on a horse and tried to get to me. An hour passed since he said that. Though I was in too much pain with my severely-throbbing tooth (which is now been taken out by the dentist, and I’m recovering as I speak). Though I didn’t realize he was already talking to me in Alliance chat as I was in Local, waiting for him.

As I waited, I remembered a few days ago that Kylebooze gave me this map, and told me it’s better for road navigation (and also more up to date than the ‘latest’ 2013 community map). I found it is possible to get to his town, by simply following the Cobblestone road. So I went back after he said he took the troll down. When I reached the part where it goes up and Southeast, I met him on a horse. He gave me the studded set and I quickly put it on.
I then told him how all I wanted was Tar, and he said he would offer some. He also offered a means of faster transportation; a horse of my own. Of course I jumped at the chance to get another horse. So I followed him back to his village. As we walked, he asked me what kind of weapon I had. I told him I had a longsword. He asked what QL, and I told him it.. followed by how this is the best Ivan could give me at the time.

Halfway to his place, we encountered a Hellhound and a mountain lion. They were no match for him. And I also helped for some free FS(Fight Skill).
We made it to his place safely. It’s pretty nice. He has two 10-floor buildings he calls “The Kraken”. I also saw he had a staircase… yes, an actual staircase in Wurm! And it wasn’t even one of those “right click to ascend” deals. You could go up and down it as if it was a ramp. Very cool.

So he lead me to where the horses were, having to unlock many doors and gates for me to pass through. Then at last we arrived. There were two horses. The ‘Mature fat Swiftdog’, he gave to me. He said it was a “5 speed” horse (whatever that means). But she was built for speed; having all the really good characteristics of a racehorse.
He gave me a piece of rope, and also had to unbrand it to make it mine. Even gave me a saddle. On top of that, he gave me a 50QL longsword and a shield to boot! He’s a really friendly guy, and I can’t thank him enough.
He says how he knows how hard it was when he “first started”. I didn’t really have the guts to tell him that I came back 5 years ago (even though I did tell everyone a few weeks ago of when I did come back. Maybe he didn’t know?)
Anyway, I got on the horse and raced back to my boat, trying really hard to relearn how to drive a horse… it’s not like a mount in WoW or GW2. But I believe I said that before.

I’m nearly to the boat, and I see an Aged black wolf. I’m thinking “SERIOUSLY… actually, you know what? With this new armor and horse, I’m going to take it on!” and did so. Health nearly was halfway red and green when it finally died. Fearing I was going to see Bad or Severe wounds, I checked my character window… and not even a Medium!! 😀 The new armor WORKED! 😀
I grabbed the corpse as my trophy, and took it with me to the boat. There was somewhat bad fog but by the time I was heading back to the Darkenstone Canal, it started to slowly lift. Mobs are one thing… not being able to see is another.
Made it back home with my new horse, and put it in the house. Then went to bed, hoping it wouldn’t move while I went to get my tooth taken out.

The Walking Dead: Season One – Damnit, Lee! Stop tripping!

Title: The Walking Dead: Season One
Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher: Telltale Games
Release Date: *Unknown PS4 release date on Wikipedia*
Game Engine: Telltale Tool
Number of Players: Single
Genre: Choice-driven drama / adventure
Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6g8SxMB7OSc

This was the first game I got from GameFly as part of my 30 day free trial. It was to see the start of The Walking Dead, having got Season Two from PS+.
Is it good? Yes. It actually makes sense, compared to the last game. And it has zombies in it. Lots of zombies.

The game starts in and around Atlanta, GA. Unknown year.
You play as Lee, sitting in a cop car with his hands cuffed and being taken to jail for an unknown crime. You’re going out of the city on an interstate. And while the cop driving the car keeps harassing you, something is going on that’s causing tons of cops and other things heading towards the city. As the officer keeps talking, someone walks infront of the car and causes the car to go through the guardrail and crash.

Lee survives the crash by escaping the crashed cop car, finds the keys of the handcuffs and frees himself, only for the officer (who looks like his body was drug out of the car) to turn into a zombie. Thankfully, the officer’s shotgun and a single shell are nearby, allowing Lee to kill the zombified officer and escape, having more zombies chase after him (while tripping a lot. Lee is notorious for frequent tripping).

Then you meet Clementine after killing her zombified babysitter. And that’s where your adventures continue. Overall, I really like this game. It’s better than Season Two, as it actually makes sense. Though I’m still curious of how did Lee find himself in the back of a police car, handcuffed.
And also, where did the zombified babysitter come from, when there was no one in the kitchen except a pool of blood and footsteps leading into it?

Anyway, time for.. (Lee trips over the review for comic relief) DAMNIT, Lee!!;

Good:
-It’s a fun game. It really pulls you into the story and makes you want to play more of it.
-The characters are lifelike and easy to understand their feelings.

Bad:
-$15 price tag. $10 would be more reasonable.

.
Final Review: It’s got zombies. It’s got a scared girl who just wants her parents to come home. It even has a klutz black person. What more could you ask for? Dragons with lasers coming from their eyes?
Now ZOMBIE Dragons with lasers coming from their eyes would be awesome. 🙂

Benie’s Great Cross-Server trip (and Tulsi is gone)

First off, sorry for n– actually, I got tired of not having enough time doing these updating posts about Wurm. So I’ll give the rundown of what happened;
-I finished the tower. Got two guards. Was enough.
-Found a HUGE mine of an abandoned village just to the north of mine, that has Iron and Tin deposits.
-(Long one) Tulsi failed to follow a simple direction, which was to take planks he worked on, up to the deed. Sometimes I feel he’s trolling me with his “short-term memory”. But he’s also just a kid. With that, I told him that Wurm just isn’t for him. A 10 year old really doesn’t belong in Wurm unless under parental supervision.
-Discovered how to build a second floor. Also learned that carts can go up a ladder with you.
-Gave Tulsi a tour ‘around’ the server (more like just going to the Freedom Market and himself going AFK for hours and not telling me where he’s been, to the point I actually left him).
-Learned that you can actually… FINALLY have interior walls now! 😀 I’ve waited God knows HOW long for this!
-Bought a lot of stuff at the Freedom Market. Shockingly, it’s still alive. Even got me a 71QL Large Maul that I used to remove some annoying plantations left over from the previous villagers of my old place.
-Sailed to Deliverance, and picked up B2. He was a bit away east from “Greendog”(the start town of the server). Had to take a really, really long cave to get to the western shore. He was picked up at a place called ‘Fippy’s Harbour’. Also, Deliverance is a really nice server. I need to go back and tour it one of these days.
-Managed to pick up Tulsi (after he got lost) on our return trip. Before we got back, he had to go. I (with his permission, of course) was able to get his (temp) password and turn perms of his rowboat and cart over to B2.

And that brings me to now. B2’s back on the deed, where he belongs. And as a side-note, I unfortunately have learned that when I eventually get horses again, attach them to a large cart and go exploring the roads, the horses… can’t go with me to the other servers. Here I was thinking of buying or making another Corbita, JUST for this…
I can understand why, but MAN that sucks. Alas, it looks like the only way to do that is.. on foot.
And the only way to do that is to get a set of Studded armor, with enchants which will actually hurt the hostile that hits me, giving me time to run away if it gets too ugly. I’ll also get a backpack with some cotton and healing covers.

But this’ll come on a later date, after I complete the restoring of Oceanside Retreat to what it was five years ago.

.
Right now I’m in my mine, trying to find another Iron ore vein (by mining a shard and using the Analyse option). I have detected three Lead veins so far (two, right on the main pathway). But Lead isn’t Iron.

EDIT: There’s no Iron in my mine anymore(with my low Prospecting skill anyway). My only option is to get it from another mine, or hire a person with high Prospecting skill to find some (hopefully high QL) Iron for me.
In this critical need for Iron (to make nails/lanterns/lamps), the first option is more doable. There’s the island, and there’s also the ‘El Rancho Knarr Canal’ to the North of me. And Ewwya told me some time ago that he thinks there’s Zinc in it. And I can use Zinc to make dye to paint my future lanterns, to make them even brighter.

And if it’s got Zinc, it will surely have Iron in it. I’ll have to go mine it myself, as B2’s mining skill isn’t that good. However, he can use my now Rock mine to help him get his Mining skill up. He can also find those two Lead veins I picked up. Lead will be useful for future mooring anchors.

The Great Haulgration (Part 1, bricks for the tower)

Day 8 of Wurm. Slowly but surely building the guard tower today, occasionally still having to deal with a random mob showing up and attacking me. I just simply lure it to my deed and let my guards have some fun.
Although Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I’m thankful of where we were taken in, was fairly close to my old place. Would be a nightmare having to travel across the server, just to get things. I’m also thankful that Ivan was able to get me a sailboat.

Shitting Bricks / Old friendships / Setting the phases

Now officially one week since I came back to Wurm, I spent most of the day gathering rock shards and turning them into bricks. Really wish Tulsi could help me with this lengthy task, but he can’t take two steps into a mine without his client crashing.
I also removed most of the people from my friends list, even sighing when I saw “Misterangry is no longer your friend.”
He hasn’t been on in just under 200 days. It’s possible it’s been that long since our… conversation (all over a website change). :/

Oh well. Time to move on. I do have a phase plan setup for before, and after we move into Oceanside Retreat.

Phase 1: Securing the land. Self-explanatory. The guard tower is the key to securing the lands around my deed (with the deed guards securing the deed). Clearing out the mine is also part of this phase. I saw a spider inside of it when I first arrived.
Phase 2: Temporary Shelter. Once the land is cleared of hostiles, the area will be safe enough to start moving my stuff over. I’ll set up a temp house to store stuff off the island.
Phase 3: Move in! Once everything (Tulsi’s) has been moved over, we’ve officially moved in. I’m also to give the old house to Ivan, as he requested it.
Phase 4: Make it ours. Here is were most of the work will go. I need to rip up all the flooring and replace it with what I had before. Also, the new house will be built.
Phase 4.5: I need Iron!!Change to the phases, due to finding out there’s no more iron veins in my old mine, I have to go mine a lot back on the island, and ship it to the deed. By this time, I should have the new forge and stove up. Once I have enough iron, I’ll be mining in my old mine in hopes to find another vein. I should also get some of the walls reinforced with planks.

I also found my old blueprint of the redesigned Oceanside Retreat. Really do hope I placed the token where I had it last. But if not, I’ll have to redesign my redesign. Just, hope I don’t have to do much.
So, good news(that was almost bad), and bad news. I now know why the old citizens of my area, left. But I’ll get to that later. I finally… FINALLY got the 501st brick placed! But when I went to build it, “You can’t continue the tower now, another tower is too near.”
Of course, being close to the tower the house is at, that makes sense. But it really, really worried me. Because I remember a tower near’ish to the deed. That would sooo cripple my plans. I had to see. So I took a rare clay and a rare brick with me and went to my deed. Ran up the platform. Nearly to the deed, another hellhound is there chewing on my leg! Got away with barely escaping a medium wound.
Guards made quick work of it. With that done, I had also discovered…. I dun goof’d with the placement of the deed. 😛 It’s a tile too far to the North. I could say I didn’t have time to make sure it was set, as it was also past my bedtime. All I knew is I had to slap it down RIGHT then and there!
So, the only way to “fix” the problem and make sure it’s resized carefully, is to pay 10c and set it further south by one tile. And so I did. Now it’s… 11×12. But at least it covers where I remember it covering. And just because the token is a tile off to the North from my original plan, I can still do it. 🙂

With this done, I went past the deed and tried to find where I had placed the guard tower. When finding it, I tried to build it there. Was now getting a “The area must be flat where you want to build this tower.” New restriction. Fine. But after awhile, I finally found a place that seemed flat, built… and it was working! I was far away from the other tower to allow it!
And when it was done, it showed “You have a moment of inspiration…”. This means you just built something that’s a rare or above. This means I have a rare guard tower!! 😀
What this means, is I get to have an additional guard that isn’t part of the 10QL = 1 guard thing.
After that, I went over to the mine and thought about luring the spider out of the mine. Did so. A few seconds later, my deed guards come running over and dealing with the spider. With it dead, I was finally able to explore my old mine. There was no other mobs in it, thankfully. However… my only iron vein is gone. This is possibly why they moved out.
Well, I can improvise. But this puts another job on my plate to do; mine down and try to find another Iron Vein. The improvising, is get as much iron as I can from the island and ship it over (once I have the forge built).

There’s also another issue. A major one. When I came back to make sure I had resized properly, a venerable troll somehow spawned infront of me. No damage came to me as I was able to outrun it. It also caused the deed to be bugged, even after the troll died. It kept saying how “This settlement is under siege” and wouldn’t allow me to check the resize. A few minutes passed and it finally unlocked. Checking the resize, I got it. The entire deed (what I remember) is now covered. All I need to do now, is ship the clay and bricks over and build that tower.
But the respawning mob thing is really worrying me. What if it happens when I’m (or Tulsi) is hauling materials over? What if it keeps happening? I have thought of re-locating the guard tower closer to the deed. There’s still the area I used to use as where I had my horses… before they got stolen by my own stupidity (the whole “deed it or lose it” rule).
Anyway, I can use this to put the guard tower. So if this continues to be a problem, it’s right there to help me. Plus it’ll be in a closer spot than up in the hills to the south of me.

So now I’m faced with another, sudden issue. All of the clay that Tulsi and I collected for the tower, is gone. Even the clay I was going to use for the new forge and stove. The clay in Tulsi’s boat, all there’s left is one piece. What the hell happened to it all?!?! D:
I feel like this may’ve been my fault. Not sure how, but… meh. Whoever’s it is, the 501 clay needs to be dug again. 😛
So I’m spending the rest of the night, digging up and placing clay on the Guard Tower near my deed. I’ll do this myself if I have to. And with Tulsi still not on right now, it looks like I’ll be doing it all on my own.
Though he finally did come on later. And sure enough… he had the clay in his cart. So it’s HIS fault now. He apologized, and shipped the clay over to me. There, he helped me for a few minutes before having to leave to do homework. Came back about 10 minutes later.

Tomorrow, I’ll likely have the tower finished. Then I’ll begin all the stages to leave the island and call Oceanside Retreat our new home. Actually looking forward to undoing all the work of the previous owners of the land. 😛

“will not fit” / Deed guards are better than tower guards! :D

Day 6! Almost a week since I came back to Wurm! Again, no one was here. All my wounds healed up nicely(even the nearly 30 damage one). Thank goodness for that cotton.

Unfortunately I have an old (yet still new) priority that’s once again creeping up on me; Hunger. To hopefully neutralize this problem, I know I needed Willow trees near where my new deed is to make (hopefully indestructible) fishing poles.
So I started making some rafts, and fishing hooks. The rafts were(emphasis on ‘were’) going to sit in my boat to hold the small stuff, which will help to increase carrying capacity. I had to give my remaining large nails to making the rafts. They were actually for the new house, but I thought “ehh, I can make more”.

But the game decides to tell me: “The small raft will not fit in the small sailing boat.” It won’t even fit in a cart.. FFS! The reason is because, well… you guessed it! Wurm Logic! The classic “You will fucking DEAL WITH IT!! Have a nice Wurm day! :D” logic. The kind that I have always been annoyed by.
So the rafts, are useless to me now. The only way they’ll work as extra hold storage, is if I have a Corbita or up. I do plan to make another one, but in the far..FAR future. However, the rafts actually did have a current use to me.
Two things;
1. When loading a cart onto my sailboat, the hold of the boat (and the cart) must be emptied. I’m lucky I can even load A cart onto it, as both share the same 100 item limit.
2. I still had the clay to make the forge and stove. Since clay can NOT be out in the open for too long or it will decay quickly, I had to put it all into one of the rafts to keep it “air tight”. As long as it’s a container (not a pile), it won’t decay.

With these two problems sorted out (not to mention I would have to make a few trips to haul the logs back to the island, then go back and get my cart), I loaded the cart up and went back to my old place.
On my way there I spotted Tulsi’s rowboat. Went over to it and made sure he moored it. He didn’t. So I used mine and secured it, then continued to the deed.

Didn’t see the hellhound when I arrived, and it worried me a bit. Walked over to a willow tree. A few seconds later, the fucker shows up and attacks me again! Another medium wound, this time to my stomach. Again, I make a mad dash to my boat. And again, hellhounds can’t swim.
So I tried a daring move to get out of my boat, walked past the hellhound, and tried to make it for my deed. It followed me… fuck it’s fast, and vicious. But I was able to outrun it and get to my deed, running away like a pussy.
My two deed guards were ready to handle it, and they kicked its ass!!! 😀 I didn’t think they would be better than tower guards, but I feel this is money well spent.
I tried to assist with the massacre, but the hellhound kept turning my direction. And I’m all “ohh fuck that! I don’t want another wound!”

Now I see the corpse of ‘aged hell hound’ on the floor. REVENGE, BITCH!! TOLD you that you’re not going to stop me from progress! Spat on the damn thing for causing me so much grief, then went to work getting the willow trees. I chopped down three, using my cart to haul them to the boat.
After the 3rd tree, I took them all back to my cart, feeling like that should be more than enough. Though due to weight, I had to make three trips. But everything’s good now, and I managed to bandage my medium wound. Had some lights, but thankfully they healed up on their own.
On the 3rd trip to get my cart, I went up to the deed again and grabbed the corpse. If I could, I would rip its head off and put it on a pike as a way to scare away any mob that threatens my dock area.
Threw the corpse in the house, next to “bitey”. So now, Tulsi’s ‘friend’ has a ‘companion’ to ‘play’ with.

Came back after dinner, and.. well. A lot of things happened. Good things. But before I get to them, Tulsi was “lost” at sea. He had no idea how to get back to the island. So I asked him on Skype to share his screen (his iPad). He did, and I found he was at the mainland. Got him back to the island. After that, he realized he was kind of wasting his time (and even told me the day before how Wurm is keeping him away from the MRT). He doesn’t find Minecraft as boring as I do at the moment. So I let him go.

Anyway, here’s the other things that happened;
-Discovered that Hunger is no longer a requirement! It’s now optional, based around skill gaining. You will always fast, and be at 10% Nutrition. No more will you starve to death! Praise Rolf for doing this!! 😀 No more will I have to be forced to make Stew or scrounge around for a meal like a parasite! WOOT!
-Ivan came on, and turned ownership of the sailboat over to me. Now the sailboat is officially mine! I actually got a free sailboat! I can finally go cross-server now! I can use this to go to Deliverance (once Tulsi and I are settled in at Oceanside Retreat), pick up Beanietwo and get him back to the village. Not sure why he’s even there. I guess angry used him for something, then left my main for dead back at Volcano Forest. Though I did say I didn’t care what happened, because I was bored with Wurm at the time.

With the first thing no longer a problem, I can 100% focus on the Guard Tower. And that’s what I’ve been doing. I now have just over 1/4 of the bricks needed for it. Sometime tomorrow, hopefully, I should make the 501st brick.
Though I still wonder how I’m going to haul them to Oceanside Retreat and setup the Guard Tower. Probably take the cart over first, then haul the bricks while Tulsi hauls the clay over.
I’ve also noted that I can only carry up to 94 bricks in a small cart. I’m almost certain it was 100 before. But oh well. Nothing I can do about that. Even if I was to build a large cart, I don’t have any animals that could pull the cart. I’m not even sure if you can load an animal that cannot swim into your boat as you can with something else.

The hunger for Lead / Deed/Land Security > Guard Tower

Day 5 of Wurm Online. I was on my own. Eyywa was gone, as expected. So I prepared to make the mooring anchors. The ropes alone were a pain in the ass. 31 failures on the second one(Yes, I counted). And then when it came to getting the anchors, I realized I needed a Lead deposit. With none on the island, I knew only one way to solve this problem; hope someone can make me some. 😛

And that someone was a person named ‘Ede’. Lives around Harmony Lake, near the center of the server. Asked him if he could meet me at a nearby town called “Quincy Mines” and what he was offering for them.
He was going to make them for free, but charges a delivery fee of 20c each. So that’s 40c total. Thought I’ll just leave, and when going through the Darkenstone Canal, I’ll buy a silver and give it to him, hoping he has change for it.
So I set sail on the new sailboat. Felt good to be traversing the server again. Made it to the canal and bought the silver piece. Felt a bit worried when I saw how it went “in the bank” instead of my inventory.
As I was heading there, he asked me of why I just make some myself. So I told him that 1: There’s no lead deposits. And 2: The wiki says if you fail to make the mooring anchor, you will lose the rope. And from what hell I went through with a 6% chance of completion? FUCK THAT! D:<
However, he was actually nice by asking me if I would like some lead lumps and spare mooring rope, and I said yes. He offered it for free. So that’s nice of him.

Arrived at my destination (trip took me about 30-45 minutes) and hopped off the boat. No mobs anywhere, yet all accessways to the interior were locked tight. I told my contact, and he said to meet him at this fort to the north of it.
Hopped back in my boat and went back north. Stopped at the fort’s shipyard. Again, no access to the interior.
Five minutes passed, and he told me to meet him south again (and to look for his wagon). I did, and saw him. A wagon pulled by four bison. So they got bison in the game now. Cool.
He unloaded a box, and then opened a trade window. I opened my inventory…. I didn’t see money in it. Fuck me. :/
Told him how it’s been five years and I forgot a lot of stuff about the game. He said you’ll have to go to a token and take it out, and hoped the nearby fort that’s locked up tighter than Fort Knox would have an accessible one.
Went around the fort, and all access routes were locked tight. No way was I going in. Did find an ‘Old deer’, though. New animal added.

At this time I was hoping that he would feel sorry for me for what hell I’m going through. NOPE! So I told him I would check the nearby island, and sure enough it had an accessible token. And this is where I fucked up even more. I grabbed the coin, went back to him, gave him it and he’s all “this is too much”, and “we agreed on 40c, not 100c”. Told him this is all I had. And this is when I remembered that you can use the token to get specifically how much you want out. UGH! So I had to go BACK to that island, back to the token, put the coin back in (had to move my bank there to do so), and take out 40c from it. I also took out the remaining 60c.
On top of that, he’s telling me how he has an enchanted axe for “only 60c more”. Told him I wasn’t interested (I only came here for the anchors).

Back to the guy. Gave him the 40c. Finally got the anchors! Then he asks me if I can load the box onto my boat. Said I should be able to as my body strength is up there. So I hopped into my boat and attempted; “The small sailing boat does not have room for the small crate.”
I’m thinking “FFFUUUU… ok, let’s just try to clear out the hold and work from that”. I do it to even the point there’s nothing in it, and still the message comes up. Opening the crate, I realized why; it’s past the 100 item limit allowed for that type of boat. He was trying to ship me about 200 lead lumps, and 8 mooring ropes.
He said we’ll have to melt them down and combine them ’till they can fit. He started chopping a nearby tree down and made three campfires to cook the ore. Because when you need a forge, a campfire can even smelt them(thankfully, he was using high QL campfires).
After about 5-10 minutes, the 200 lumps were reduced to five. They were able to fit nicely in my boat, as long as all of my other stuff. He left as I thanked him. I then snuff’d the campfires to put them out. Noticed they didn’t leave ashes anymore. This is awesome. Was a real pain to clean up (especially when I had no need for ashes).

Then I finally went home. Tested out the new mooring anchor on it. Works just like it did before. Very happy. Also had to moor up and go to the store. Afterwards, I got back to the island and moored up. I also moored Tulsi’s boat, and transferred ownership to him. So if I get screwed now, I won’t have that rowboat to help me (unless Tulsi gets on and gives me perms to access it).

Tulsi came on an hour later (while watching a stream from a friend of his. I had to drag him in). I got him to help me dig the 501 clay needed for the Guard Tower. We talked about other things, and how a Caravel takes a lot of work. I also showed him how to combine items. I originally thought we were going to have to make three trips, but then realized we could just combine them to not do that.

About 3-4 hours passed and we had the 501 clay. Tulsi had to go eat while I took my load of 250 clay back to the house.
While I was preparing to get the 501 rock shards by myself, I remembered what I went through with the lead lumps; how it was past the 100 limit. And a small cart shares the same space as a sailboat.
Told Tulsi that when he got back, to load his clay into his boat. And I also put my clay in too(that almost sounded dirty.. 😛 ). Then grabbed my pick and went to the mine. But what I would find out later would really annoy the hell out of me.

While mining, and combining, I discovered I can only have 8 shards at a time. What was worse, I discovered the cart has a 1,000 Weight limit. And 5 combined 160.00 weight rock shards are the limit. What was really bad, I couldn’t get out of the mine due to “You need to catch your breath, and stop climbing”. I’ve always hated that damn thing.
Had to drop one of the heavy shards, just to get the cart out of the hole. Managed to… barely. Even that drained my stamina to 0. But I was able to keep going ’till I made it out. Grabbed the shard and went up. Fell down again. Tried again and made it where I could keep going even at 0 stamina again. Tried to access the cart and it wouldn’t let me.. fell down again. Really pissed here.
Then I tried it again, this time dropping the shard on the floor as I went up. That worked. But I couldn’t grab the shard while outside the cave. Seeing how my stamina was back to normal, I climbed again, got the shard, and got out.
This is just one of the times I have to do this. Took the shards back to the house and asked Tulsi to make them int bricks for me, while I went to get more.
He couldn’t pick them up. So now he can’t help me with the tower anymore. So he left and went back to the MRT.

I thought for awhile, also wondering how in the hell I was going to be able to assemble the tower at where I was planning to move to, with mobs everywhere. Then it hit me. I need to re-establish my old deed and use the spirit guards there to keep the baddies off the property.
Told Tulsi to please come back, that we’re (technically) moving out. Made my way to the boats. He’s sitting there telling me he has nothing on him. Said that’s good, incase you need to run away.
So I showed him the way to my old place. Got lost for a bit, but found it. No mobs in sight. Felt too easy. Told Tulsi to watch my back as we made it up the platform to where my deed was. Halfway up, I heard grass rustling. I stood there, Tulsi near me… listening and waiting for a mob to pop up. Sure enough, one did. A hellhound. Before I could even say “OSHI–!! RUN!!”, it had taken half my health. Ran as fast as I could to my boat(can’t move so fast when you have the ‘Hurting’ debuff), the hellhound in hot pursuit. I feel like I literally jumped on my boat and pulled the rudder as hard as I could to get the fuck out of there! Saw the hellhound was stuck on the shore… WHEW!! Hellhounds can’t swim! 😀

Tulsi was freaking out, didn’t know what to do. I told him to run back to his boat quickly. So he did. The hellhound never noticed him. He pulled in his mooring anchor and got out of there. I tried to think of what to do, while fearing of checking my wounds. Both of them were Medium, so I should be able to bandage them without needing a healing cover.
I then told Tulsi a daring move (which I should had done in the first place…), to go back to the island and be there incase I die and need to retrieve my corpse. Told him that no hellhound is going to keep me away from claiming.
He did, and I went around the clay deposit. Made it back up and to the top. Searched the area. No mobs in sight. Phew. All I had to worry about was that hellhound.
I tried to quickly think of where I had slapped down my initial deed. Was able to move around while using the “Survey Area” option. I tried my best to get the markers to where I had remembered them.

I set the number of guards (there’s no “Light/Medium/Heavy” option anymore. Only Heavy guards now) to 2 and tried to found it. It claimed I needed a total of 8s and 21c to found. What the fuck?!
It had claimed when doing the form, it would only cost me 6s and 21c. After talking to the new ‘GL-Freedom’ channel(the new Global kchat), they told me that now, they want you to pay your upkeep in two months in advance, “to keep people from disbanding in a week”. So I had to pay for two 6s orders. That’s $20 down the hole. :/

But after doing so, I was greeted with;
“It is 19:02:14 on the day of the Wurm in week for of the White shark starfall in the year of 1053.”
“The settlement of Oceanside Retreat has just been founded by Dragonhead.”

Yayness! Oceanside Retreat is mine once again! 😀 This time I didn’t have to negotiate with some random person in Wurm to give me back my land! I settled with two guards. And they showed up a few minutes later. Now the deed has security against mobs. But only that area. I can still be ambushed by mobs while hauling my stuff across the sea and/or going up the platform to the deed. But if I make it up to my deed, the guards will hopefully make quick work of them.

After placing the deed down, I carefully made my way back to my boat, not knowing where that hellhound was or even if it’s still around. I finally spotted it in the same spot as before as I snuck by it. Got back in my boat and hauled ass away from there. Tulsi was confused if this means we have to move. Told him to stay on the island, but he was already halfway there. Then he had to go to bed. So I hope he secured his boat before he left, because I never saw it.

Safely back on the island and in the house, I tended to my wounds. Managed to get them both bandaged. I hope cotton will heal them. One of them turned into a light, while the other was a medium. That other one is nearly 30 damage. I think I might need a healing cover for it.
Anyway, I still have so much else to focus on before I can even think of moving in. I still need to make fishing poles out of willow (to take care of hunger). I still got to get that guard tower up.
And I still need Ivan to get on to get me perms for that sailboat. Once I have them, I could get Benietwo back on. But I’ll have to sail south to Deliverance(one of the many new islands), find out where he is and pick him up, then get him back here. I can’t go there without perms to the boat. The boat has to be owned by me before I can travel to the other islands.

As for Tulsi… he can stay on Minecraft. He can’t really help me here.

Boat access (and Prem) granted / My old place

Day 4 of Wurm Online. Eyywa was on today. Still no Ivan, though. Today I’ve been focused on getting some carts. I wanted to teach Tulsi how to make one, but unfortunately he’s at some Club, and it’s been several hours (even as I write this) and he hasn’t responded to any of my messages.
Anyway, I asked Eyywa if he had any meals at their village. He said no, but could make some. Gave him some of my wood scrap as he needed some for kindling. Was able to get my Nutrition back up to a more comfortable level. Not so worried about Hunger now.

Later that day, Eyywa was telling me how he died due to a hellhound (a new type of mob… joy). He said if he recovers his rowboat, he would give me it. So that brought some hope to me. And then he left for a few hours.
Ivan came on as I was digging some clay to start construction of a forge and a stove for the house. I asked him if he could give Tulsi (Penadragon as he calls himself), perms to help work on the house. He claimed that I already gave him perms. Said that I can go to the ‘body’ area of my inventory and right click, there’s a new “Manage” option. Here I have access to pretty much everything, without a bunch of writs in my containers.
Told him how Tulsi said about “not being high ranked”. Ivan thinks it’s the fact he needs at least 5 Carpentry. So after that, I asked him about if I could have one of his boats. He did “give” it, but didn’t give me perms to manage. I think he was thinking I was going to PAY for it first, yet never said anything. But I think he was too busy talking to Eyywa who came on a short time later.

But before I could use the sailboat, I need to get prem to be smart enough to know how to drive one. This costed me around $17.50, for two months. There is no one month option anymore. Also, you don’t get 5s when you get prem. You must buy that separately. And there, there’s no 5s option. There’s 6s, which is another $17. Fuck that. You can also buy prem ingame, with silver. Reminds me of the WoW Token, though. But at least I can use a sailboat again.

Anyway, I also I asked Eyywa if I could still have the rowboat, and he said I would have to go with him in a sailboat and go get it, so I did. I got to see what was Samling(the former start of the server, and where you pop up after leaving Golden Valley and getting perm), which… well, to describe what I saw, it looked overgrown. It didn’t look anything that I remember it should look. So his rowboat was near it. He gave me perms and I sailed it back to the island.

.
When I got back from having to deal with my videos, I took the sailboat and sailed to where my area was. I finally re-remember the name now; Oceanside Retreat. Arriving, there’s several fireplaces here. And I also see a spider den sitting on my clay pier. It took me awhile to get my bearings, but I made it up to where my house once stood. It’s changed, and I actually expected this(as I had quit Wurm due to boredom). Even the walkway up was re-paved in planks, and it looked overgrown.
Going further, it seems the guard tower I busted my ass making, is gone; probably decayed. And the once village? It’s pretty much gone. Similar to what was mine, all that was left was the floor. There were also a few mobs patrolling in the area. I tried my best to keep my distance, but one of them (a troll) got aggro’d and gave chase.

So I’m quickly running around as I wasn’t carrying that much. Found out there was still a guard tower nearby and yelled out. I assisted the tower guards, having taken no damage due to being able to outrun the troll. One of the guards died before the troll did, and I decided to take the corpse for Tulsi to get freaked out (as yesterday I was running around carrying his corpse).
I’m thinking at this time that I overstayed my welcome and need to get back to the boat. I go the wrong way and die to a hellhound, and have to teleport back to the island.

So I take the rowboat I promised I would give Tulsi, back to the mainland to get my corpse (as it did have a few things with it.. such as my sword). Getting back, I had to dodge a bear and found the hellhound was dead (and so was another tower guard). Was able to loot my corpse, and then bury it.
Then as I was trying to make my way back to the boat, the bear engaged and took out 3/4 of my health. Looking at my wounds as the bear was “playing” with the remaining tower guards (and realizing the corpses I was carrying were weighing me down), I thought that I could just get home, heal myself, and bring my cart over here to get the corpses.

Made it back to my boat, then I heard something coming behind me. Fucking crock shows up to finish me off. Back to the island…
Now, I have to take a 3rd boat BACK to the mainland, get my corpse, and…. but this time, that crock was in the way. So I tried to lure it away. The plan worked perfectly. This is about the time Eyywa talks to me in Village chat, saying he’s 45 minutes away from the island. I told him that I have to get three boats back to the island. He said he would help me, but he was too far away.
Had to play a game of leapfrog; getting one of the three boats away from the other, getting out, swimming to the furthest boat, getting on that, and repeating the process…15 minutes past my dinnertime until I finally got all three boats back safely. That was FUN! *rolls eyes*

Before I had to go eat, Eyywa tells me that I should build a guard tower near my future place. Told him that my old one likely decayed.
And that brings me to now (as I write this). This is changing my plans, and I don’t know what is a higher priority (based on size and importance). Probably making more fishing pole spares, now that I know they can break. Survival should always be more important.
I think my problem with the fact how “it never happened before”, I always bought my fishing poles instead of making one. Eyywa told me that making one out of Willow, increases the chance of it not breaking. And it just so happens that there are Willow trees growing at my old village area. But the threat of mobs makes me feel the Guard Tower has a higher priority.
But a Guard Tower needs a shitload of materials, and I feel my hunger will be in the red before I’m finished. Now you see why balancing these two things, isn’t easy.

.
Tulsi came on about an hour before I had to go to bed. Eyywa was on, preparing to go somewhere far and see one of his friends. But he actually helped me deal with Tulsi.
I’ve actually been looking at this the wrong way with teaching him. Instead of trying to force the knowledge into him and make him remember, I could redirect him to somewhere that the knowledge is always available… the Wurmpedia.
With Eyywa’s help, we showed Tulsi how the wiki works. So now everytime he asks “How do I do ‘X'”.. direct him to the wiki! The wiki will tell him how to do it! 🙂

And with using said wiki, he was able to build the cart all on his own. I’m really proud of him. He’s learning the way he should be; by using the wiki. I really wish I thought of this sooner. But no matter, he now knows to use the wiki if he needs help.
And with that, Eyywa set sail on a ‘borrowed’ Knarr (that I discovered I could command. Thankfully it was stuck in the dirt and I didn’t accidentally take off with it) to lands unknown. It’s likely I might not see him until after Tulsi and I move out. Though Ivan still needs to get me perms for the new sailboat.

Before Eyywa left, he gave me a rope tool and said I could keep it. So tomorrow I’ll be making some mooring anchors for Tulsi and I for our new boats. And also starting construction on the mats for the replacement Guard Tower.
