Boat access (and Prem) granted / My old place

Day 4 of Wurm Online. Eyywa was on today. Still no Ivan, though. Today I’ve been focused on getting some carts. I wanted to teach Tulsi how to make one, but unfortunately he’s at some Club, and it’s been several hours (even as I write this) and he hasn’t responded to any of my messages.
Anyway, I asked Eyywa if he had any meals at their village. He said no, but could make some. Gave him some of my wood scrap as he needed some for kindling. Was able to get my Nutrition back up to a more comfortable level. Not so worried about Hunger now.

Later that day, Eyywa was telling me how he died due to a hellhound (a new type of mob… joy). He said if he recovers his rowboat, he would give me it. So that brought some hope to me. And then he left for a few hours.
Ivan came on as I was digging some clay to start construction of a forge and a stove for the house. I asked him if he could give Tulsi (Penadragon as he calls himself), perms to help work on the house. He claimed that I already gave him perms. Said that I can go to the ‘body’ area of my inventory and right click, there’s a new “Manage” option. Here I have access to pretty much everything, without a bunch of writs in my containers.
Told him how Tulsi said about “not being high ranked”. Ivan thinks it’s the fact he needs at least 5 Carpentry. So after that, I asked him about if I could have one of his boats. He did “give” it, but didn’t give me perms to manage. I think he was thinking I was going to PAY for it first, yet never said anything. But I think he was too busy talking to Eyywa who came on a short time later.

But before I could use the sailboat, I need to get prem to be smart enough to know how to drive one. This costed me around $17.50, for two months. There is no one month option anymore. Also, you don’t get 5s when you get prem. You must buy that separately. And there, there’s no 5s option. There’s 6s, which is another $17. Fuck that. You can also buy prem ingame, with silver. Reminds me of the WoW Token, though. But at least I can use a sailboat again.

Anyway, I also I asked Eyywa if I could still have the rowboat, and he said I would have to go with him in a sailboat and go get it, so I did. I got to see what was Samling(the former start of the server, and where you pop up after leaving Golden Valley and getting perm), which… well, to describe what I saw, it looked overgrown. It didn’t look anything that I remember it should look. So his rowboat was near it. He gave me perms and I sailed it back to the island.

.
When I got back from having to deal with my videos, I took the sailboat and sailed to where my area was. I finally re-remember the name now; Oceanside Retreat. Arriving, there’s several fireplaces here. And I also see a spider den sitting on my clay pier. It took me awhile to get my bearings, but I made it up to where my house once stood. It’s changed, and I actually expected this(as I had quit Wurm due to boredom). Even the walkway up was re-paved in planks, and it looked overgrown.
Going further, it seems the guard tower I busted my ass making, is gone; probably decayed. And the once village? It’s pretty much gone. Similar to what was mine, all that was left was the floor. There were also a few mobs patrolling in the area. I tried my best to keep my distance, but one of them (a troll) got aggro’d and gave chase.

So I’m quickly running around as I wasn’t carrying that much. Found out there was still a guard tower nearby and yelled out. I assisted the tower guards, having taken no damage due to being able to outrun the troll. One of the guards died before the troll did, and I decided to take the corpse for Tulsi to get freaked out (as yesterday I was running around carrying his corpse).
I’m thinking at this time that I overstayed my welcome and need to get back to the boat. I go the wrong way and die to a hellhound, and have to teleport back to the island.

So I take the rowboat I promised I would give Tulsi, back to the mainland to get my corpse (as it did have a few things with it.. such as my sword). Getting back, I had to dodge a bear and found the hellhound was dead (and so was another tower guard). Was able to loot my corpse, and then bury it.
Then as I was trying to make my way back to the boat, the bear engaged and took out 3/4 of my health. Looking at my wounds as the bear was “playing” with the remaining tower guards (and realizing the corpses I was carrying were weighing me down), I thought that I could just get home, heal myself, and bring my cart over here to get the corpses.

Made it back to my boat, then I heard something coming behind me. Fucking crock shows up to finish me off. Back to the island…
Now, I have to take a 3rd boat BACK to the mainland, get my corpse, and…. but this time, that crock was in the way. So I tried to lure it away. The plan worked perfectly. This is about the time Eyywa talks to me in Village chat, saying he’s 45 minutes away from the island. I told him that I have to get three boats back to the island. He said he would help me, but he was too far away.
Had to play a game of leapfrog; getting one of the three boats away from the other, getting out, swimming to the furthest boat, getting on that, and repeating the process…15 minutes past my dinnertime until I finally got all three boats back safely. That was FUN! *rolls eyes*

Before I had to go eat, Eyywa tells me that I should build a guard tower near my future place. Told him that my old one likely decayed.
And that brings me to now (as I write this). This is changing my plans, and I don’t know what is a higher priority (based on size and importance). Probably making more fishing pole spares, now that I know they can break. Survival should always be more important.
I think my problem with the fact how “it never happened before”, I always bought my fishing poles instead of making one. Eyywa told me that making one out of Willow, increases the chance of it not breaking. And it just so happens that there are Willow trees growing at my old village area. But the threat of mobs makes me feel the Guard Tower has a higher priority.
But a Guard Tower needs a shitload of materials, and I feel my hunger will be in the red before I’m finished. Now you see why balancing these two things, isn’t easy.

.
Tulsi came on about an hour before I had to go to bed. Eyywa was on, preparing to go somewhere far and see one of his friends. But he actually helped me deal with Tulsi.
I’ve actually been looking at this the wrong way with teaching him. Instead of trying to force the knowledge into him and make him remember, I could redirect him to somewhere that the knowledge is always available… the Wurmpedia.
With Eyywa’s help, we showed Tulsi how the wiki works. So now everytime he asks “How do I do ‘X'”.. direct him to the wiki! The wiki will tell him how to do it! 🙂

And with using said wiki, he was able to build the cart all on his own. I’m really proud of him. He’s learning the way he should be; by using the wiki. I really wish I thought of this sooner. But no matter, he now knows to use the wiki if he needs help.
And with that, Eyywa set sail on a ‘borrowed’ Knarr (that I discovered I could command. Thankfully it was stuck in the dirt and I didn’t accidentally take off with it) to lands unknown. It’s likely I might not see him until after Tulsi and I move out. Though Ivan still needs to get me perms for the new sailboat.

Before Eyywa left, he gave me a rope tool and said I could keep it. So tomorrow I’ll be making some mooring anchors for Tulsi and I for our new boats. And also starting construction on the mats for the replacement Guard Tower.
