Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8Fx1JgC5Dw

Yes, Gamefly fixed their mistake and sent me a working copy of the game(though it took an entire week to get it). I’m very happy, as I didn’t want to be forced to give up my subscription. Also, I won’t be as … opinionated if it happens again.
Now it’s time to finally be able to sit down and see why Dan put this game as #3 on his “Totally Not Poop Games of 2015” video.

To understand this game, is like to trying to understand coding by just looking at the words and phrases. And I don’t. This game isn’t anywhere as lenient as other series games; meaning it doesn’t care if you started the series with this game. You’re literally forced to play the other games to understand what the fuck is going on.
There seems to be four sets of stories. Please note all three of these are assumptions in my part and may not be true; a “This is what caused the series to start” story, a “This is what happened last game” story (mixed with a “Geralt’s Dream” story), and the current story.

You play as this old guy named Geralt. He is known as a “Witcher”; a slayer of humans(bad ones of course), and demons. He has two swords. One for normal combat, and a silver sword for things like werewolves. Witchers have a history of doing anything for coin; never doing anything just because it’s a good thing to do. However, as the person playing the game, you can change that. Think of this game’s dialog, similar to a Telltale game, but with no limits to what you can pick (or “Person will remember you suck at choosing properly.”)

In the beginning of the game, after you see the guy you play as taking a bath in a tub… I couldn’t stop staring at his wife’s behind.. and boy did they show ‘dat ass a LOT.
Anyway, after saying you’re going to train with this 14 year old girl who wants to be a Witcher, you’ll be able to do tutorials. I recommend you do these if you haven’t played (like myself). The first one is movement, vaulting over things, and going down ladders.
The second involves combat stances and special Witcher abilities that you can use against your opponent. Once you had enough of your teacher handing your ass to you, you can sheathe your weapon by pressing left or right on the D-Pad.
Just before this story ends, you’re “introduced” to ‘The Wild Hunt’; a group of spirits unleashed by… who knows what the fucking hell from, but wow are they ugly.

Then the “Geralt’s Dream” story ends, and the current story begins of finding some person in some place. But before you can do that (and if you haven’t learned from the “story” tutorial), there’s another combat scene with Ghouls (and the first use of the silver sword). Was able to kick their ass easily.
After that, you’re introduced to your horse (named “Roach”). You learn how to canter and gallop with him.

At this point of the game, I think you can start doing side quests. I don’t really know, I never tested it. I was too busy trying to understand what the fuck I was just presented to (the backstory).
But I feel if I just not focus so much on the story and more on the actual gameplay, I might like this game more. Time for the review. This written review (in my opinion), was tough to write.

.
Pros;
-‘Dat Ass in the beginning of the game. They sure know how to sell the game to geeks that will forever keep their virginity.
-Good, proper combat.
-Characters feel lifelike.

Cons;
-Confusing backstory. Who is this woman they’re trying to find, and why was she part in a fierce battle?

.
Final Verdict: Kind of wish the game wasn’t so heavily story-driven, and the devs realized that newcomers would get into the series now. Also the ‘dat ass’ part was clearly planned to sell the game to people that still have their virginity, which I didn’t really like.
I will be playing this some more. Maybe my opinion will change.

Too much to put as a title (Wurm is love, Wurm is life)

Another busy two days. I’ll go over each and every thing as brief as I can;
-The house is completed, exactly as planned in Deedplanner (with the exception of needing more nails and planks than listed)

-I wanted to buy a floor loom instead of making one (as really, I don’t need it as a long-term thing). Eyywa gave me the loom for free (and 40 square pieces of cloth to make the two armchairs for the patio next to the house).

-My friend convinced me to get a Knarr, and especially the way back home when I used my new Cog… having no wind to help me. I arrived just before 1am EST. Ugh. I think it was a mistake to get this thing. But… that view from the crow’s nest.

-The next day, B2 helped me push the floor loom away from the Cog and up the secondary ramp to the deed. I don’t have (and cannot build) a wagon. And a wagon is the minimum that a floor loom can be loaded into.

-Because B2 helped me out, I decided to give him my sailboat (and the other Pocket Sun lantern). With a Knarr, I’ll never need a sailboat. I then proceeded to try to buy a Knarr.

-B2 convinced me to sell the Cog to pay for the Knarr (as it would cost 9s to have it delivered). I got it down to 7s if I would pick it up… in Xanadu. Used every bit of silver I had left in my bank. I also used the new Plot Course option and had B2 sail west.

-Went to Xanadu with B2 (him driving my sailboat). Got lost a few times, but managed to find my contact. He bored us with his bias opinion about Knarrs; saying Corbitas are better and blah blah blah just give me the fucking boat already!!

-I got the Knarr! Very happy with it. Even in bad wind, it doesn’t behave like the Cog. Had to navigate the rest of Xanadu and finally got to the open ocean.

-B2 went back home to Indy while I went to Xanadu’s capital: “Glasshollow”. I’ve been told that Xan’s main market is here. So, I expected a larger market than FM.
–Made it to the market. They have three separate sections for their market. A “Dragon Market”, “Harbor Market” and …. “Lumpy Market” (the hell?!). It’s smaller than FM, yet it does have more stuff, such as a Wurm Museum(showing some of the things a player can craft) and a “Dragon Hotel”. FM will always be the biggest (and the oldest) market! As Indy is the oldest server.

-Went home. Soon as I did, I managed to get a buyer for the Cog; a place I passed by when I had bought it; near the Bay View Canal, called “Iron”. I delivered it there, with B2 behind me. When B2 and I arrived, I had to wait for the buyer to get back from dinner. Soon he gave me the 4s, I gave him the key, and turned perms over to him.
No more Cog. No more horrible mistake. And no more having to eat humble pie.

-Back home again, and put the 4s back in my bank. I also learned (from Reaping) that 40 Large crates are what I could use for my new Knarr, for also using it to haul heavy things I buy(such as dirt). It would also give me room for if I want to buy a bed or a better forge (or whatever that can’t fit in a crate).

-Learned that having 99 Nutrition isn’t that big of a deal(you only get a 5% increase to skill gain). This really defeats the need to make meals (and stick with “tried and true” Stew to keep my fat layers in check). The only real reason is because your food bar doesn’t go down as fast, when your nutrition is higher.

-When Christmas Eve gets here, and my alt is at Impalong watching the impers imp our stuff, I’ll be at FM eating the buffet. Then I’ll find the public mine near the market and grind mining as much as I can (with Sleep Bonus also active). I need to get my Body Strength up from 25 to 29, so I can drag my Knarr.
I’ll be going on horseback while my alt takes his sailboat.

.
I still need to make furniture, buy a bed, build the Storage Shed(still haven’t done that yet), and of course make the lamps that will later be imped at Impalong (I could always just buy them, instead of making them and imping).
Unfortunately, these plans could be delayed even further as another person from the MRT Server is planning to join my settlement tomorrow. I got to pick him up around 7-8pm EST.

“Mature starving fog spider moves in to attack you.”

… will soon be a REALITY!! D:<
So, if you heard the sad news, Oracle has passed away early in December (on the 2nd). I personally never really liked the guy. He was always too harsh. Two times (that I can remember well) I had to deal with him back in JK:H, back in 2008 and 2009.
The first time was when angry got stuck in a mine and I told him “not to move”. Oracle helped him get out of the mine. The second, a player was arguing with him about my neighbor’s trees.

And now he’s gone. Yeah…. he will be missed greatly. 🙁
But his legacy will still live on, in Wurm. Oracle was known to activate the dreaded “fog machine”, and caused some near white-out conditions where you couldn’t see a few tiles infront of you. Fog has always been a real pain in the ass in Wurm, especially when navigating.
And with the fog, came the whole “fog spider” joke; a legendary spider that hunts n00bs only when it’s foggy. Yet it was only a joke… until NOW.
In two weeks from now, the feared fog spider will actually start hunting when the fog gets thick enough. And I hear there’s also a swimming version… where even if you’re on your boat, you’re not safe from its 8 legs of terror! The humanity!!

So, hide in your house when it gets foggy… for the fog spider comes.

“Rolf creates a rare great day infront of you on the ground.”

A lot of good has come from today (and also last night). And holy shit, are they good ones;
-Started making planks for the house.
-Had a Nahjo Priest come from Deliverance to cast 80 ‘Courier’ on my mailbox. Now B2 won’t have to go so far.
-Gave B2 prem(they still have the Prem + 5s option). Now he can drive my sailboat! No more rowboats for him!
-I now want a Cog for cross-server travel.
Major update for Wurm. We now have spiral staircases, and a “Plot Course” option for boats that I can go to any border in Indy, and go to any of the servers! Now I can go due West from my house and be in whichever server I choose!! 😀 It’s also completely optional too! You can still cross-server to other servers the normal way.
-Major discount on the cost of mailing items. Now it only costs 1c instead of 10c for same-server mail, and 10c for cross-server mail. This is a lot more reasonable than before, when it took a whole silver to send all of my items to B2.

So, I’m going to keep making planks until either I get the house built, or Ghostofdeath logs in. I remember him telling me how he had a Corbita and a Cog in storage, and was “trying to sell them”.
While I was building the walls on my second floor, someone named “Jberg” started offering a “halter rope”. He explained that you can use this to lead up to four animals with it. That is a real boon for me, so I got one. And with the new courier enchant (from last night), it arrived in my mailbox in about 5 minutes. Not too bad.

Two other things happened after that. The first thing was this guy named “Daash” offering what he called a “Pocket Sun” lantern; a 91QL for only 1s, and already painted white. That’s a hell of a deal, so I bought two of them (one for me, and one for my alt for Christmas).
And the other, a person named “Masterthief” wanting to sell a Cog. I had said I was going to wait ’till either I got done and/or Ghost got on, but I went against my own words and asked him how much he wanted for it. Was 4s, and came with the lock and anchor.

Got my alt on and he drove me in my sailboat to Rockcliff for pickup. When we arrived, I noticed he wasn’t in my local. Felt like he tricked me and stated to get angered. We waited for a half an hour and he never showed back on, so we got back on the boat and tried to find another. This one, was a guy saying I would have to travel to Exodus, and didn’t want to give me the coords where he was at. Before he did, Masterthief logged back in (finally).

I asked him that I felt I should get a discount for him not being there, yet he refused; only offering “my bad i had to go”. I was forced to accept it, seeing how I came all the way out here and gave him the 4s. He gave me the key to the boat lock and turned perms over to me.

So I had B2 following me as I’m controlling this behemoth of a boat back home. Got stuck here and there, and especially in the Bay View Canal that we used as a shortcut to get to our destination quicker. Also being so high up, I could see the entire world.
From my alt’s point of view (on the other side of the canal), all you saw was this HUGE thing coming out of a tiny cave entrance. Was hilarious. The rest of the journey, I had to deal with a gale from the west. Going from 16km/h to 1km/h due to one tiny push of the controls was funny. I also had to zigzag back home. Hearing the wind roaring in my face when I had to re-position the boat was funny.
Got it home. Also learned that they changed the mechanic for the crow’s nest view. It’s no longer the first person that gets an amazing view up there as a passenger; it’s the second.

A slight unfortunate thing, but at least my alt can still enjoy the view up there when I’m driving that big ass boat.

And lastly before I wrap this up, I made a fountain after my 6th fail (19% chance, and had to drop everything I was carrying to pick up the shards). Now, we no longer have to run down to the shore to get our Water level back up. And it looks better than the well.
And I also got the second floor done of my house. For the 3rd (and to make the entire area a walkable surface), I was forced to re-build the floor just above the forge, to build another floor above that. Then I destroyed the previous floor with my maul. The plan worked perfectly, though I thought the game fucked me over when I was using my forge and everything in it refused to go past searing hot.
Thankfully that was just a glitch and was able to continue to make what I needed. Now I’ll be going to bed and hopefully finish off the 3rd floor (and the house) by tomorrow.

Still got to build the Storage Shed for my carts.

Trip completed, back to Wurk / Winter only lasts 4 days?!

Woke up (ingame), using the WurmClock of when it became morning. I tried to go around the mountain more than I did last night. I got 3/4 around instead. The south side is very dangerous. There’s no roads, and not a lot of places to walk. The terrain is angled, and I spotted a bear in the distance. Just too risky.

I picked a few more sprouts… and some fights with wolves. Also I learned why I felt why you can’t lead and ride your horse when in combat… it was because I was “too far away” from leading the horse (even though I was right fucking NEXT to it!) What a load of bullshit. But at least I know.
Anyway, I got five sprouts and found the tunnel. The way back down was of course faster (due to being downhill). Also, I asked if there was a way to reach the tip top of the mountain (the peak). Was told how “the gm’s don’t like people going up Dragon Fang Mountain”. Why is it so forbidden to reach the highest point of the server?
They said something about the GMs have something up there that they don’t want others to see. One said how I could make a ladder, but it’s possible to have it removed..while going up it.
Maybe it’s where their cursed Fog Machine is.

Got back to FM. Couldn’t find WoA on a sickle or a chisel, but I did find a bridle (which from what I’m told, I won’t need a rope anymore). This will give valuable (even life-saving) time to get on my horse.
Checked out Black Dog Isle next, crossing the bridge there. Not really much to see here.
I took the boat bridge to get back home. My first ever boat bridge. Each boat can be boarded as a passenger. The point of a boat bridge is to let your stamina regen (so you won’t drown). Had to keep re-leading my horse, and one time I was again “too far away”(even though I was right infront of it).
Back on dry land, I made it back home. If you were to tell me 5 years ago that I would make it to the summit of Dragon Fang Mountain, I’d call you insane.

I also learned from the maker of the WurmClock, that Wurm only has four days of Winter. So that means by December 13th.. it’ll be Spring. Which is impossible (as 5 years ago, there was snow on the ground and it was nearing Wurmxmas).
He said a few years ago, they forced it to be snowing on Christmas. Yet also reminded me how on the other side of the world (aka Australia), it’s Summer.

.
With DeedPlanner, I now know exactly how many planks and nails I’m going to need to build the 2nd and 3rd floors of my house. It’s a good thing I bought those high WoA tools when I did. Because I managed to make 46 planks in under 5 minutes (and that was from one Overaged maple).
I also need to start making the lamps I’ll need to get imped at this year’s Impalong. Do wish it was near FM like back in 2010, but what can you do?

Hunger dealt with / Attempt at Dragon Fang Mountain #2

Yesterday, B2 made a casserole for me. It was a 40QL casserole. When I ate it, it was so good.
He also made stew, and I made a large barrel. Tulsi managed to make his first small barrel (with me having to tell him twice on how to light a forge).

So now we have plenty of Stew. Also, it’s served the same way I remembered back in 2010; two different-named fish in a pottery bowl. I KNEW a pottery bowl could be used to make stew! Also, with using a forge, this is actually better than an oven. Because the difficulty (quality) of the item increases when cooking with a forge.
I also plan to start getting B2 into making meals, but I need the corn that Tulsi found for me to grow. All is needed is a filet fish (a fish cut open with a carving knife), and a veggie. A friend said that a difficulty of 37 helps to raise your HFC(Hot Food Cooking) skill.
They also told me to eat the food when “warm” or “very warm”, never hot. The reason is the amount of nutrition. Your Nutrition level affects your skillgain. THIS is where I fucked up with my assumption! I thought your Food bar affects it, not Nutrition. Wow. 😛

But now I know, and I will eat my humble pie and enjoy it (even though it won’t help my Nutrition level).

.
It’s now today. So with food no longer a concern (for now), I hopped on my horse and made my way to Freedom Market. On the way there, I actually had the balls to engage a few wolves, and killed them. I can handle wolves with this armor.
The person that told me about raising fight skill, said to hunt wolves, wild cats, and bears. And also to run far, far away from hellhounds as I need Plate armor for them. Well, I can’t take on bears. They keep getting a medium on me.

Moving on, I was almost to FM; nearly to the southern shore of the Inner Sea. I was going on a one tile road with low stone walls on both sides. It went up. As it did, I was attacked by a hellhound. Thankfully the hill smoothed out and was able to get away… for the time being. Either another one (or the same one) managed to catch up to me and attacked again. At this time, I didn’t even realize I had just crossed the bridge that goes over the Kinoss Canal; the same canal that I used to get to Tulsi at the Freedom Docks after picking up my alt.
That was really cool. 🙂

After passing the canal, I reached the “East/West Mountain Highway” which went through that huge Tundra area that I saw when sailing to the docks. Now I got to see it up close, and also learn (from a sign), that Tundra still doesn’t grow back after being dug. Though what’s odd, why was it brown when I remembered it being white? Maybe it’s the season.
Speaking of seasons, Winter in Wurm is coming (possibly tonight or tomorrow). Kind of looking forward to that.

Next, as I was following the southern shoreline on the “West Coast Highway”. I also found the entrance to “Magranon’s Scar”, a planned road I saw mentioned on the Wurm Online forum. I went up the road and it turned into grass, sand and rock while still going up. I saw a bear off to the side. It aggroed. Since I was moving so slow, it managed to hit me. Turned around and was all “fuck this”.
I could had lead the bear to a guard tower near the landing, but I had no way of knowing if there would be stronger enemies. And not being able to outrun… it just wasn’t worth the risk.

Being forced to find an alternative route, I went East until I could go east no longer. I ended up in Festival Cove; the home of the 2010 Impalong. I had also learned (from the several colossus statues) that 2012 was possibly the last year the Impalong was held here. There were also statues that I assume were the previous hosters of the event.

After this, the tunnel that I accidentally used in 2010 (before I found out I could had parked my boat at the cove instead of the docks) was still active. Though I had to deal with not only two black bears (one outside and one inside the canal), but all the lamps were off and I kept bumping into walls, even with my lantern lit.
But I eventually made it to Freedom Market! Since I’m here, I decided to look for a saw with WoA on it (as I need a LOT of planks for the house, when I come back).
There was a 76WoA saw for 1.60s, which isn’t bad. Another that had 99WoA for nearly 5s.. pass.

Right now I’m just waiting for sunrise before I try once again to reach the top of Dragon Fang Mountain. I did find an offline Wurm clock which I’m using to know when sunrise will be. It also shows what “Day of the *Month* in *week #*”, and what starfall(week) it’s in and the year. It also shows the season. And right now it’s between Autumn and Winter.
Lastly, it shows what is a good time to harvest what for the best yield.

.
Winter has arrived in Wurm! Everything’s covered in white. The trees have all lost their leaves (except the pines, of course), and we have 2D snow falling. They can’t even render a proper snowflake without it looking flat as paper when it floats by you.
The thing I don’t like, is the roads are matching the ground. In other words, it’s hard to see the pavement. This could be hazardous for me, when it’s time to head back home.
Might just postpone horseback adventures ’till the Spring.

Anyway, I’m still in FM. I bought $18 worth of silver (10s). So it’s $2 cheaper now. This is good. With that, I bought the saw. I also bought a 90QL toolbelt and a 87WoA hatchet. Fearing I will likely lose them if a mob managed to kill me, I got B2 on and got him to go to ‘Snoopz’, a village I passed by, earlier in the day. The way to get there is a new’ish canal (new to me, anyway) on the western side of the server.
He found the village no problem, and I was able to mail my stuff (with it costing me 80c as a shipping fee(10c per item)) to him, and he took it back.

At this time it was night again. Went away from FM, and went on that “north and left” path as I was told before. Had to setup camp again and wait ’till morning, while B2 sailed home in Tulsi’s boat.
Morning came, and I waited for B2 who was home to maintain the deed. He put another month’s worth into the token(so Village chat will stop harassing me), tended to my farm, and groomed my horse. Still waiting on the corn to grow, so we can start making meals instead of stew.

Back to me. I put my tent back in my pocket, hopped on my horse and continued on. Eventually I entered a village called “The Great Village”. There a sign, pointing kind of the other direction, showed “Green Ring Express – To Top Of Mtn”. My eyes lit up when I saw the “To Top Of Mountain” part and knew I FINALLY found that second tunnel!
And indeed I did. It took 5 minutes going up a twisty tunnel, with most of the lamps lit, but I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE SUMMIT!!! 😀
And my god, what a view. I’m finally on the highest accessible point of the server! There’s a road that goes halfway around the summit. Up above, is the tip of the mountain(and where the mountain got its name). Can’t seem to get up there, but I’m happy I made it up here at least!

Encountered a crocodile(can’t kill(didn’t try)), a brown bear(can’t kill), a spider(can’t kill), and a wolf(killed) while up here. I also encountered a lone village called “A Horror Film”. What a strange name for a village. Setup camp here for the night (had to log for the IRL night).
I plan to get some breathtaking pictures of looking over the summit tomorrow, see if I can get to the very top of the mountain(the peak) then head down and go back to FM to buy a few more things (a high WoA chisel would be nice for brick-making).

Why I nearly quit Wurm (again)

If you couldn’t tell from the title, this Sunday has not been a good day for me. After I said I was having issues with that disc and waited for the download to get done, I went back to Wurm to see if I could get to the top of Dragon Fang Peak. I didn’t get far… at all.
I had my sickle with me this time, and spotted a pine tree. I looked around. No mobs in sight. Hopped off my horse since “you must be on solid ground” to pick a sprout. As soon as I did, the Combat log started flashing. I tried to hop back on my horse, but it had no Lead option. Apparently you cannot mount while in combat.

So I was forced to run away and leave my horse behind, attracting more mobs. And they were all “WE FUCKING GOT HIM!! HAHAHA!!! NO MORE OF YOU NOT ALLOWING US TO PISS YOU OFF!! :D” and killed me. I of course had some choice words to say. Thankfully I had a spare piece of rope and another horse. I tried to lead them away, only to get a Medium. But I managed to just enough to get my stuff back (and the other horse) and bolted back home.
I was all “trip is postponed until I get more cotton”… yet this would be the least of my concerns.

After having a conversation with a person on another server about getting fight skill up, so I won’t have to run away anymore… I noticed my Food bar dropping lower than normal. At 6%. What’s even more weird, my Nutrition was at 17% instead of 10%. I didn’t eat anything to cause it to do that.
My Food bar kept going down, to 0%. I asked the global kchat what the FLYING FUCK is going on, and they’re all “LOL… you thought you could fast infinitely?! Wow. That’s too easy! Dude, you still have to eat! You just went though all of your fat layers!”

I am emotionless right now. I thought… I thought I would never have to fucking make Stew for the rest of my life; that Hunger would never be an issue. And now…. now…. I’ve been lied to. That’s how I feel. The other feeling, is making the mistake of believing that; believing it WAS that easy.

No. It’s not. It hasn’t changed since I left. It’s still as fucking annoying as before, where my alt was forced to cook. And now, he is again. All of that was a lie. A lie to myself, and a lie I assumed.
Both make me want to say… “FUCK…THIS!! FUCK THIS GAME! FUCK IT! FUCK EVERYTHING!!!!!!”

But I can’t quit either. So, Hunger hasn’t changed since 2010. I still have to carry a FUCKING barrel that’s filled of Stew with me, and my alt still has to cook Stew. Just.. like before. As outrageously pissed as I feel right now, I cannot quit. It’s only a small… minor inconvenience.
Yet I’m still puzzled why my Nutrition is at 17%. Shouldn’t it be at 8%? I guess this was before they removed starvation. I should had FUCKING KNOWN they wouldn’t remove the need to eat! Yet everytime I asked, they all made me assume there wasn’t no need, except for skills.
Either that or perhaps… perhaps maybe they misunderstood my question. I think they removed Starvation way..WAY before 2015. More like 2009. And indeed it was after I asked some questions. It hasn’t changed in 6 years. Why… WASN’T I TOLD THIS BEFORE?!?! So. many. WHY’s and no answers to them!

As for “asking for an apology” from the people I assumed I would never have to cook again, I never got one. I shouldn’t need one anyway. They NEVER actually told me I would never have to cook again. I am the one that assumed it. It’s my fault, not theirs.

Well, no use of crying over it. Now that I know, I just have to re-prepare. Though I don’t remember what my alt used to make Stew. I know it was Fish, but I’m not sure of the second ingredient (or even what he used to cook them in).
I’m almost certain it was a pottery bowl, yet everyone says no; that it’s to make casserole instead. They told me to use a sauce pan, and I can’t even make one with my Food level at 0%. :/

Going to have to prem B2 (as his HFC skill is above 20) and get him working on casseroles until my char’s strength returns. Then I should be able to make some sauce pans (and also an oven to cook them in).

In a way, it’s actually good to need to cook again. Because now I have a reason to make an oven and use that empty area of my house. Speaking of my house, I’ve used a tool called “Deedplanner” (a replacement to Mapper) and was able to build my house into something I feel I’m going to really like. Take advantage of having multi-levels and interior walls.
And here’s what I’ve done. You can view the images here, and here.

As you can see, there will be four floors (with the forth being the “elevator”(aka the opening)). The 3rd floor is the “observation deck”. The second floor will be my private quarters, and the first will be where the forge/oven, and storage will be. Behind the house is my future “tool shed”, which in the past I used to store my carts and other things (also had a catapult back then).

I may split the second floor in “half” (with tiles, you can’t really do halfway) and give one half to Tulsi and the other to myself. Or he can just live in the tool shed. 😛

No “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” review. Disc damaged.

I was hoping to have a good review of this game. I popped it in, and the game showed up in my library. Then something else popped up; a humongous nearly 18GB update. I decided not to wait that long and just do the review… but it freezes. I can’t get back into the menu (the Playstation button). I had to reach in the back and unplug it, just to gain access.
After going through some “You didn’t shut down the PS4 correctly. We will now force you to wait as we do really long scans” screens, I was forced to wait for the 3 hour update to download.

When it finally did, I tried again; thinking surely the game will work. … It freezes up AGAIN. Yet this time I was able to go back to the menu. A bit later, a window pops up saying how it cannot read the disc; saying it’s damaged and/or scratched.
Gamefly didn’t even bother checking to see if the game would work on their end. So I reported the issue to them, saying I want a replacement (instead of “Fuck it! Just give me the next game…”).

I also sent an email to Gamefly (they have a chat support, but it closes at 6pm EST). I told them what happened. I also tried to clean the disc with a piece of toilet paper. I feel I made it worse by doing that, though. :/
I’ve also sealed up the faulty disc, as instructed by them. It’ll go out with the mail tomorrow. Also tomorrow, I’ll be reviewing the second free PS+ game for the PS4. I told them to send a replacement. If this is also damaged… I might consider removing my Gamefly subscription. Second game I get from them and I’m already having problems, and it’s not even the 16th yet (when my free trial ends).

.
EDIT: A replacement copy is on its way in three days from now (December 8th, when it was shipped). They also responded to my email. Though I don’t particularly like their fake, generated response (claiming “we know your game time is important”… who are you bullshitting?), they also told me “we check every game, but it looks like that one slipped by”.. the same exact excuse I knew I was going to get.

But I shouldn’t bash them too much. This only happened once. Though I would like to know how frequently it happens.
Also, I wish it didn’t take so damn long to get to me. Netflix, I got the movie a day after it shipped! Why can’t they do that?! What’s even more ironic, is they have this “FastReturns” thing for certain games, where they will give you your next game quicker after you send back your last one(which was the first game I sent back). Yet I still had to wait three days to get it.. only for the CD to not work!

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition – And once again, Benie destroys food

Title: Gauntlet: Slayer Edition
Developer: Arrowhead Game Studios
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Release Date: August 11th, 2015
Game Engine: Bitsquid
Number of Players: Single / Up to 4-player Co-op
Genre: Top down hack-and-slash / RPG
Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuSGhzzMoKQ

So, Gauntlet. When I first saw it, I thought “Ugh.. not another RPG!” Then I remembered “Wait! Dan played this with his father back in 2014!” And now I got to. And I must say, it’s fun as it is challenging (even on Easy difficulty).

Gauntlet is a semi-RPG game(being class-based), but it’s more of a hack-and-slash “SO MUCH BLOOD!!!!” game. You can play as one of four classes. They are the Warrior(sword), Valkyrie(sword/shield), Wizard(spells), and Elf(bow & arrow). The Necromancer is a 5th class only available in this Slayer Edition, but you must pay for it to be unlocked.
When you start and activate a special pillar, a mysterious person named “Morak” shows up and tells you that he is “the only wizard powerful enough to summon the Gauntlet”. You’ve come here to test your strength in his trial, and also to find 3 “Lost Shards of Tyrfing” and bring them to him, and he will reward you with riches beyond your wildest dreams.
Though he has his doubts you’ll survive long enough to even reach the first lost shard, he wishes you luck. You must prove to him that you can handle yourself.

The object of the game is to survive the many horrors that await you. And your reward is lots of Gold. Said gold can be used as currency to buy new weapons and stuff; even customize your character. But you don’t have to go at it alone. You can bring up to four friends with you for a 4 player co-op. You can also play with others online if you have no friends.

After passing through the first two levels, you can either take the normal path, or the silver one. The silver paths lead to Challenge levels (how long you can survive). Be sure to do these, as completing them will award you with loads of gold.

When it comes to healing yourself, look for turkey and other meat on tables. But be careful not to accidentally destroy them, or Morak will either humor you by saying how “the food was destroyed by the crafty (class)”, or lecture you on not destroying food.
But destroying food, props, and even dying in humorous ways will grant you achievements. Some of these will even give you more gold.
Also, when it comes to dying, I think there’s a set amount of times you can die before it turns into a Game Over. So, watch out for that.

.
Now is a good time for my review, as Benie needs food badly;

Good:
-It’s really fun, and can be funny if you allow it. Yet it also gets a bit repetitive.
-Each class has their own strengths and weaknesses, and attacks.

Bad:
-Don’t really need a “Start Online Game” and a “Start Offline Game” option, when both options can still be played for up to four players.
-Unknown how many times I can die before it’s a Game Over. I think it might be linked to the “Skull Coins” thing in the upper right.

.
Final Review: Really not much to say, except “It’s fun and you should try it out” if you have a PS4 and a Playstation Plus subscription, as it’s free for this month.

The trip to Dragon Fang Mountain / Tulsi’s back

Yesterday and that night, I prepared to go on that trip from my village… all the way to the Summit of Dragon Fang Mountain. Had to setup camp for a few times. First time was to go to bed ’till yesterday. And the other was a bio break.
When I arrived outside of Fort Jackson, I decided to head to where Ghost is (thinking the only way to continue south was going through his village).
Thankfully he was on and helped me out, even showing me the correct way of getting south. There’s an alternate road that goes around his village. Good to know.

About 5-10 minutes, I make it into the center of Freedom Market.. on horseback. Something I thought just wasn’t possible for me, and really wanted to try since 2010’s Wurmxmas (and seeing a lot of people on horseback dealing with the “Happy Holidays hug zombie” mobs. The way I went there, was taking the tunnel that went right through the mountain. Didn’t run into any mobs in there.

I found the POI I saw on the Map Dump (the reason I wanted to come there), and tried to go up. I made it halfway up, passing a “Dragon Fang Mountain (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)” sign. And indeed it was. The road turned into grass, which turned into normal terrain. But it did have a really nice view. Even got a view of the Freedom Market from up there.
Feeling defeated, but not going home empty-handed, I asked both the Alliance and kchat tabs of an alternate way to the summit. Both mentioned another tunnel that heads to the top, yet neither of them knew where exactly the entrance was.
One of them said to go “north and left” of Dragon Fang Market. I got lost in the village of “POP the Magic Dragon”, trying to find an alternate tunnel that goes into the massive mountain. They were all dead ends, with a mob inside them. Thankfully my horse’s speed really helped.
I asked again, and now the person that told me that, apologized. They thought when I said “DFM”, meant the Mountain; not the Market. I was supposed to go north and left of Freedom Market instead… 😛

By this time, Tulsi had let me know (after I told him to use the forums to post his issue with the game) that his game is running a lot smoother. Though he got confused on which ramp I meant as “the main ramp” to check if he would still crash in a mine (like my mine), and was forced to get B2 on and get him there.
Did so. Tulsi went in and didn’t crash. This is great. Maybe he’ll finally be useful to me now.
Seeing how it was almost dinnertime, I told B2 to just go in his rowboat (which he had to give perms back to Tulsi) and pick me up. I also made the mistake of inviting Tulsi to come with him. … Boy, what a mistake that was.
B2 tried to teach him how to get to me. He seemed to be doing OK (even after telling him it could take 2 hours to reach him) until he’s all “are we there yet?” He literally stopped the boat halfway before reaching the northern passage, thinking (and hoping) I would be there. It’s like all I heard from Tulsi was “waaahhh this is taking TOO LOOONNNNGGGG!!! WAAAAHHH!!!” Typical spoiled 10 year old attitude.

Felt like reaching through my monitor and slapping him for that, followed by “fucking GROW UP, you spoiled BRAT! THIS is what Wurm is like! If you can’t handle it, then don’t fucking PLAY IT! FFS!!”… seriously, I wasn’t anywhere this bad when angry was teaching me things. At least I listened to what I was being told. Sure, when I started I hated the fact that things took too long. But eventually I got over it. Tulsi cannot, because he’s too young.

“You see an aching bruise at the face.” is what he would see after slapping him. 😛
His excuse after picking me up, is “at least with the Guard Tower we actually did something”. So he just finds sailing boring. Well… most people don’t like it because of the always changing wind direction. But I’ve always loved sailing in Wurm. Seeing things from the comfort of my boat and realizing 7/8th of mobs can’t swim. 🙂

Horseback is a new’ish thing for me; why I’m doing it a lot. The sad thing about horseback, you’re stuck on the server you got the horse. With sailing, you’re only stuck by the wind and terrain.
But anyway, hopefully this teaches Tulsi a lesson to say NO to boat rides, since he doesn’t like long ones.

.
Anyway, I’m going to try again (after my videos are done) to see if I can find this elusive second tunnel. Now that I know where to go, the journey will be quicker. Though this time I think I’m going to stay on the Western shore of The Inner Sea (instead of crossing at the Darkenstone Canal) until I get north of Gurubear’s Crater. Because those roads also lead to Freedom Market (and the old 2010 Impalong location).

When I get back (hopefully from a successful trip), I’m going to breed my horses and then work on my house.
