Spending a few weeks after the most embarrassing and immature way to kick off 2018, Logan Paul returns to Youtube and claims he has matured, and wants to give a message that all the sudden, suicide is not funny.
I did like the video, and it almost convinced me that he had changed for the better, but the fact Youtube’s ‘intelligent’ algorithm placed his video (once again) on #1 Trending, and he monetized the video, proves he hasn’t changed one bit.
So why am I suddenly talking about this entire shitshow now, instead of when it happened? I was busy in Wurm, and I didn’t know much about the guy. Now I know he used to have his own show in Nickelodeon (with his brother Jake Paul), and he’s been doing some crazy shit on his channel (mainly vlogs), and embarrassing America (and Japan’s culture) with his antics. The recent thing is going there and showing “reeeespppect” by yelling and running down busy markets and also throwing things, and also defiling a sacred shrine where people were praying (and being quiet.. unlike him) by throwing coins into a machine.
But what caused the hell to rain down upon him, is going in the forbidden ‘suicide forest’. There he saw a suicide victim hung on a tree (and filmed it, while chuckling to himself). This video got 60,000 views until Logan took it down. This caused national media attention, expressing outrage and disgust against the Youtube star. Later on, he said in a statement that he was shocked people were against him, and he was sorry. Yet he goes on about “I don’t want views, I get views”.
A day later, he tries to post a formal apology to Youtube, his 12 year old fanbase, and to the relatives of the deceased individual. A lot of people turned down this apology, due to how Youtube did NOTHING about this (yet bumped his video to be #1 on Trending (just like this latest one). As for myself, I felt I really didn’t need to express my opinion in a blog post (for others have already done so with videos).
His latest video doesn’t show any compassion for his behavior while he was in Japan, only talking to suicide survivors and claiming he was ‘immature’ and didn’t know that suicide is a bad thing. This is when I finally snapped, and posted this comment on his video;
“Honestly, I can’t tell if you’re serious anymore. How in the hell did you not know suicide is bad in the first place? I don’t believe in ‘immaturity’, you just didn’t care. You did it for the views.
You need to shut down your channel and re-think your life.”
As much as I wanted to respect him for talking to the suicide survivors(bless their souls for not giving up on life), the entire thing felt like nothing more than a stunt to get more views.
I knew suicide was bad way before he went to Japan. There is no excuse for his behavior.
