So I’ve been living under a rock (gaming as usual) and hear about this attack in Charlottesville, North Carolina though Twitter.. and reading the Twitter storm of people condemning the hate and bigotry that was done that day. And then there’s the hate against the President for not denouncing the people responsible for this act (some even saying he’s racist and needs to be impeached).
Listen, I feel bad for what has happened, and feel the people who were in these protests should be ashamed of themselves. I do not support this type of behavior from anyone. Yet also… I feel everyone needs to take a chill pill. The ‘Neo-Nazis’ as they call themselves, the White Supremacists, and the KKK… chill, guys. We’re better than this. What happened to the collusion with Russia? What happened to the claims that Obama wire tapped Trump Tower? Can we please get back to this hilarity?
Wanting to take an axe to the President’s neck by calling him a racist for not speaking up sooner, is a bit too much. Chill. Yes I don’t know everything, and absolutely NO I’m not defending Trump’s words and actions to this (or the fact he took two days to respond). But I feel people are getting too freakin’ triggered over the smallest things.
The thing about the President taking two days, I do actually feel he did need to know the facts. I feel the same thing. He too probably didn’t know what the hell was going on.
And as for if I support Hate, Racism and Bigotry, that right there really makes you guys sad for thinking that. The only negative feeling (when it comes to gaming) is criticism (I have to, I’m a reviewer). But I no means feel the desire to tell my audience how I feel about my beliefs, or if Mexicans aren’t allowed in the country. Everyone has a chance to succeed in life, no matter the color of their skin or not speaking English. I have no hate for anyone (except greedy video game publishers not caring about player satisfaction). And yes I’ll admit I’ve wanted to drop a bomb on the developer’s building for making me mad, but I wouldn’t actually do that. I would never actually use violence. I was raised up better than that.
I also have no hate for gays and trans-gender people. But I’m not about to make a fool of myself protesting in the streets (or taking to Twitter). I have better things to do with my life (like keeping to myself and gaming).
All of these movements and protests, even things closer to home (the government wanting to limit the internet), I just don’t want to get involved. Why? Just like voting, I feel my opinion doesn’t matter. There’s going to be tons of people that have already given theirs, and it feels like a waste to give mine in the sea of others opinions.
Plus, there’s always the risk of saying one little thing to trigger a lot of people and have them come after me (that or looking like a complete dumbass, such as asking the MRT Discord channel who’s going to see the eclipse next Monday.. only to be told “anyone who wants to”).
Hopefully now you see why I just don’t want to get involved, and why I just tend to keep to myself and game instead. It’s safer, and better on my mood (IMO). I’m not saying “I don’t care”, I’m saying I just don’t want to get involved.
If this makes me ‘un-American’ to not speak my mind of touchy subjects where there’s no way to win….then so be it.
