Maybe.. I was wrong of the truth of Slime Rancher

First off, I’m only doing this to get you barbarians off my back about how wrong I was with my review of Slime Rancher. Hey, I may roleplay as a dragon, but I’m still a human just like all of you. We all make mistakes. Now, put the torches and pitchforks away. Let’s settle this.
With that said, it takes a man to admit they’re wrong. But it takes a bigger man to admit they’re wrong with what they believe in. And I believe in solid gameplay. And ‘solid gameplay’ to me, is one with a backstory. “Nuuu Slime Rancher doesn’t NEED a backstory!” I was told.

And, that may be true. But just hear me out (as I said in my review). Every video game has to start somewhere. Every video game has to describe who the player character is, how the player character got to where the first scene of the game starts, what their purpose is, and especially… any relationships to (or from) the player character.
This ‘Casey’ person, obviously there was some romantic relationship going on between the two. And really, I don’t even care if they were gay or lesbian.

Flipping to the other side of the coin, I can also see how a proper backstory could be seen as ‘red tape’ over a very charming, silly, fun (yet also self-challenging) game of trying to maximize your profits in the most efficient manner possible (by collecting slime crap). I…I get that. Slime Rancher by all means, is not a bad game. Heck, it’s a really fun game, that anyone could get into. It just starts off really slow, but once you bust some Gordos and access the secret areas to collect the more rare slimes, you’ll be swimming in Newbucks. That’s the real fun (and challenge) out of it, as you also have to balance food supply amongst all of your captive slimes, of who gets fed first.
For a game that’s all about slimes eating and shitting, I really enjoy it.

So there you go. Though remember, what I said is my opinion. And as a reviewer, I’m entitled to it (as you folks are entitled to yours).

Bricks, Mortar, Iron fence bars, and the ‘easiest 5s ever’

75c for 280 Mortar, 40c for 470 bricks(not for the Grinding Floor), and also getting the ‘easiest 5s ever’. But even that, came with a payment. And that payment possibly would’ve pushed me way past the “I quit” point with Wurm.
Started off after realizing Saint wasn’t going to help me anymore. Continued to make bricks (and fence bars) on my own to wall the place up. I got tired of watching a 65kg lump get reduced to..nearly nothing after either failing/making 11 iron fence bars. This requires nearly two hours of nonstop mining for 100 iron ore (for 100 1.00kg lumps) after being in the Smelter).
And then watching it, all go away…feels quite draining. And so I did the math, and counted (including the ones I already had made) I needed about 28 more iron fence bars to complete the walls around the deed. After asking in Trade chat, a guy named ‘Necrodarkslayer’ PMs me saying if I come over to where the sermon is, I could get them for free. Though “sure” and went there with my large cart(there would be no way I could carry all of it in my inventory).

Got a bit lost in the process, being unfamiliar with the roads here. Asked him if he could escort me to his deed, and he did. There was an easier way, through the canal(and then follow the coast going East). However, his deed is under heavy construction (he lives on the other side of this flat hill(that I use as my navigational waypoint to find the south canal while out at sea)) and the easy way cannot be accessed (at this time).
The way there, involves going through one of the two large Peat deposits and accessing a hidden road, then having to go around several obstacles and finally crossing a bridge to get there. Wow. What a mess. Anyway, I got the bars. Yet I was a bit concerned this might not be enough (thinking I miscounted, which apparently Deedplanner has been responsible of making me do..even while following its mat list). He gave me more for free, and that was really nice of him.

Got them home, and I’m all “excellent! Now..all I have to do is make bricks”. And, I did the math again, and…freaked out at the number I would have to make. 470!! D:
Sure, to a high-level stone cutter, this isn’t a problem at all. Except I had a 90% chance to make a brick, with a standard stone chisel(no WoA or CoC, or even BoTD(which combines both apparently))..and to make 470. FUCK THAT. Time to pay my way out of this mess! However, with the three bricks I already had made, it turned into needing 467 instead.
Instead of asking in trade chat, I asked the guy who helped me before. He said he’ll do it for 40c, which was..wow. I expected to pay out the ass. I told him how I was going to do it myself and blah blah blah(stating how I don’t feel like ‘Netflix and Chill’ is good gameplay), and he says he uses ‘3 to 5 alts’ all with high stone-cutting skill. Holy fuck, and here I have trouble watching over two! I asked him what his secret was, and he said having a wide TV screen with four split-screen windows. Quite impressive.

He completed my request, and I went back over to grab them (and pay him). He gave me a extra large crate for free. This guy is pretty awesome, and I’m glad he’s a neighbor. He reminds me of Saint (except he actually doesn’t mind making bricks). He also has a family.
Went back home, this time taking a longer scenic route through Pryath’s under construction deed. Saw where the sermon is taking place. Mmm. Seeing this, the microstuddering isn’t that annoying to not deal with. It does clear itself out after 30 seconds (and goes back to normal). Yeah. I’m actually starting to get used to it.. not like I can do anything about it.
Now home. Got the bricks. All to do now is to build the walls! And I got this done in about three hours. I also started up construction on the farm.

Oh, and I also learned more about ‘Breakfast’ (one of the simplest things you can cook now, since the cooking update). I learned it takes 33 meat and 1 veg to get a 10kg breakfast. I also learned, I need to get the farm up quite soon (or we’re going to run out of veggies). Plus, I have to be the one that harvests them. The meat and the veggie (plus the QL of the bowl) determines the QL of the breakfast. Even though B2 can only do 20QL, that’s better than my… abysmal 3QL. And this also sets a problem (if I don’t buy a Larder soon). If I’m out exploring, how am I going to keep my fat layers up when we’re out of breakfast?
B2 can farm, but as I said.. the QL of the breakfast is also part of the QL of the veggies. His farming skill isn’t as high as mine, and it would lower the QL drastically. So I have to be the farmer (and the one that kills mobs for their meat).
That also sets another problem; a financial (and weight) problem. When exploring on another server, I can’t collect all the meat I can in a small barrel and expect the horse to not feel the weight. I have to go to a mailbox and mail it all to B2. Yet since price per item is 1c (and I have like.. 50 meat on me), there’s half a silver down the drain). I need to know, at what weight will a wild horse (with no traits) start to slow down (with my 2.5s horse gear), and go with that.

Moving on to the good part (as I did that thing again where I over-descript things), someone wanted 20 Sleep Powder. I had five, and knowing that 1 Sleep Powder = 1s.. hoo hoo. EASY MONEY! 😀
I offered to sell the five sleep powder I have, and he said sure. At the time, I assumed I could simply throw them in a mailbox (even though for some boneheaded reason… I thought my mailbox was my token) and COD them. Thank fuck that it didn’t allow me, or I would’ve been PISSED. I asked the person how I can’t mail them, said I never did this before, and would I need to deliver them. He never responded, which started making me a bit annoyed. Gave them back to B2 and went back to work on the fences.
He responds sometime later, apologizing for dropping out like that, stating the reason is his internet connection went down (and was still interested). Had to get B2 back on again and give me the 5 sleep powder, then set sail on my first ever delivery (to sell something to a buyer). I was to go to Pristine of all places, and look for a tiny island on the East coast. The wind was a gale from the North, and I unfortunately had to go into it to get to the Kami Canal (in order to get to the East side of the server). Set course for Del, then Pri after crossing. No problems crossing…it would be on the way back.
Sol’s going down as I’m trying to find this island. I see what looks like a small, flat island ahead (and a bigger island to the north). I decide to head to the bigger island.. or so I thought it was an island until I got close enough, and realize it was just a part of a much larger island. Had to sail South this time, in the dark. The wind is now a strong wind from the North, which isn’t giving me a good speed.
As I’m closing in on the first island I see, I get a PM from a ‘Mykoal’ telling me the buyer lost connection again. Finally I find the island, with the mentioned castle ‘and a lot of connecting bridges’. Person tells me the buyer can’t get back on, and tells me they’ll log on as him. I wait on the South side of the castle, and the person logs on as the buyer, and eventually meets me. The transaction is made, and I thank him for the business.

Easiest 5s I’ve ever made! 😀 It felt good, actually GETTING money instead of watching it fly out of my token. Time to head home. Set a course for Del, doing the same thing I did but in reverse. Getting the “You will soon leave this island” blah blah stuff. Noticed it looked a bit strange (by telling me “If you keep going in this direction” followed immediately by “You will soon leave this island”), but I ignored it.
Made the transfer… “An error was reported from the login server. Please try later or report this using /support if the problem persists.” popped up in my Event window. My boat disappeared from under me, and I was swimming with no Stamina!! Panicked, and logged out, praying it would teleport me on Deli (near my boat). Tried logging back in, and seeing “‘Connection denied: ‘” in the loading screen. Now I’m REALLY panicking (and also getting extremely pissed).
Log in as B2, begging for help in GL-Freedom of what I should do. Most of them said to fill out a support ticket…I would rather drown than stare at a Support tab for a week. 😛 I shouldn’t HAVE to file for support! This is when I started to question if paying for this game was worth it, if this is the way they treat me (even while trying to play ‘the right way’).
Another one said for my alt to go save my main with a boat. Good idea. Got B2 in his sailboat and try to follow the same path I went. First I tried to find my boat in Del(thankfully the same thing didn’t happen to B2). Failed to do so. Went to Pri to at least pick me up. Tried to go the exact route I went before, getting as close to the server border as possible.
Had to get back on as myself. B2 found me, INSIDE the server border. He couldn’t get to me, and I couldn’t get to him. It was like an invisible wall. What’s worse is I’m starting to drown. Thankfully I was able to embark as Passenger and climbed aboard his boat, and was rescued. Went back to Del, and found my boat.
Got the two back safely and had no more issues. Now I have a fear of crossing the server border. I heard others having a similar issue, but never having it happening to me..until now. Hearing that it’s quite rare, and something the devs are apparently having a hard time pinning down(because it’s random).

Still, it’s going to be a LONG time before I cross any more server borders. But at least I know how to react if this happens again. Just remain calm, and stay logged out until B2 comes to rescue me. Plus, it keeps me from having to see a Support tab for a week.
I’m sorry, I just find them extremely annoying. I get the help I need. Excellent. Now please get rid of the ticket. It feels like I’m being harassed by a fuckup (like what happened with getting stuck behind a locked gate). I don’t need to see my mistake for a week! GET RID OF IT!! Having to file a ticket for this, of something of the dev’s fault (which SHOULD’VE fucking been FIXED BY NOW) and not mine, and being reminded of that? That would’ve been the last straw for me.
The thing I just said about “the devs have yet to narrow it down” was just my assumptions. No one gave a fuck that I was able to get rescued by my alt (that..and it was 4 in the morning).

“Sometimes, if you want something done. You got to do it yourself.”

This has been one of my main focuses when it comes to a Multiplayer game. I don’t like it when people offer their help to me, because there’s always a price tag somewhere. Even when someone says “if you need anything else, feel free to ask” I feel “alright, how much is this going to cost me if I ask for it?” Overall, I try to not feel ‘needy’, because it turns into “I want to depend on you to make me things”.

Yet sometimes, I reach a point where I feel I don’t have a choice and require help. For example, I need bricks and mortar made in Wurm. Saint, offered to help. But now, it seems he’s doing everything in his power to avoid doing just that. Though it seems both of us are getting confused here of who owns who. See, I agreed to pay him bricks for assisting..if he financed paying for the deed. He promised he would help me build the deed. Though, the terms of the deal was after the completion of the deed, that I would do the bricks.
Both of these things didn’t happen, except for Saint’s side. I turned down his money, because I feel I couldn’t do it to him(and to found the deed still costed a fortune). Yet, I still expect him to help me. Yet…why should he, when I turned down his offer to finance the deed? I really don’t know why, but I think it’s the fact he talked me into using bricks for walls (which require making mortar).

Saint, hates making bricks. This is why he’s got a friend to do it for him. However, the fact I’m not part of an Alliance (and respected), I’m treated like anyone who’s asking for this type of work done; being charged for the service.
I don’t like making bricks either. It’s very tedious. You have to grab shards, and combine them. The number of shards I need can never add up to the total of bricks I need (to cover for failures). This is what makes it tedious, and not exactly fun gameplay.
…And I’ve reached the point where I’ve gotten so tired of Saint’s excuses (having a real life isn’t one, by the way)..he keeps being busy doing deliveries for people. And it just seems he cares more about money than his friends (even though I would be an acquaintance to him).
I told him to just forget it, and I would just do the work myself. Very tired of the excuses. Though I don’t get why he just couldn’t say “look, I’m not doing the bricks for you. Find someone else. I don’t like doing them, that’s why I have someone else doing them.” Of course I would be utterly shocked of his reaction, but at least the ‘excuses’ will stop (and in a way, I could move on and either do the work myself, or pay someone else to do them).
I will probably do the bricks myself. But the mortar, I’ll possibly have to pay someone to make. That shit is a BITCH to make at low levels (and I rather not even bother grinding it..there are better things to grind).

Besides, Wurm’s core mechanic is supposed to be a simulation of real life, right? So…not everyone is ‘good’ at everything under the sun (aka, I’m not good at making mortar, or rope-making, or tailoring, or cooking, or coal-making…(etc. etc)). And just like in an MMORPG, I refuse to be taught how to do it. 😛
There you go! There’s my excuse.

Slime Rancher – PC Game Review

Hate farming in video games and wish you could spice it up? Now you can! Join the proud, the many, the slime ranchers! With all the benefits (and consequences) that come with it!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an Early Access game. I am doing this review with the current version (which is ‘0.6.0d’). All opinions will be based from this version, and will not be changed as the game gets updated (except maybe to revisit this game through a future review(which would likely be a mini-review)).

.
Title: Slime Rancher
ESRB Rating: T
Developer: Monomi Park
Publisher: Monomi Park
Price Tag: $20 on Steam (got it for 30% off during the Steam Summer Sale)
Release Date: *Unknown*
Game Engine: Unity
Available for these other systems: Mac, Linux, XBox One
Number of Players: Single
Genre: 1st person real life simulator

Game Features: Suck up slimes and other objects with the Luigi’s Mansion-like device called the ‘Vacpack’, and throw them in corrals. Every slime has its own diet (except for Pink Slimes which will eat anything) and must be fed correctly for them to produce ‘plort’. This is your goldmine to riches to get ‘Newbucks’. This money can be used to expand your ranch by unlocking sections. You can also use it to automate parts of the corrals (such as auto-feeding and auto-extracting plort, as long as you have room to do so).
However, the game uses an economy system that’s based on how many of that plort is sold, which fluctuates the prices daily. Keep an eye on the ‘need’ level of specific plorts, as you might find you’re no longer getting as much as you were the last day.
Slimes can be turned into ‘Largo Slimes’ by them eating the plort of another slime, but this slime will be too large to suck up. However, be careful these larger slimes don’t eat the plort of another, or they will transform into a Tarr and kill your entire business (including you).

Story: The ‘story’ is all messed up (from this point of the game’s development), but I’ll try to piece together what I can from the ‘Starmail'(messages in the game).
I’ll also try to be brief.
Some time ago, scientists discovered a strange, slimy (yet still Earth-Like) World a thousand light-years away from Earth. After sending in an expedition force, they discovered it’s inhabited by creatures called ‘slimes’; semi-sentient beings of goo. It was later discovered their droppings (called ‘plort’) can be used back on Earth to help humanity. And so, the term ‘slime rancher’ was born (by the corporate giant named ‘The 7Zee Corporation’) as people went to this planet that they dubbed ‘Far, Far Ranch’.
The player character, ‘Beatrix LeBeau’ is one of the newest people to be a slime rancher, and is placed in cryo “for a whole year” to arrive at the planet, and starts her new life as a rancher of slimes.

Main Character: The player plays as ‘Beatrix LeBeau’, who has joined the Far, Far Range to start a life as s slime rancher. Not much is known about this person as she has no backstory, other than a mention of a ‘Casey’ who cares for her.

Side Characters: A mention of a ‘Casey’ who apparently cares for the player character (and calls her ‘Bea’). It’s unknown at this time if the two are simply best friends, or even more than that.

Enemies: Most slimes are nice, yet others also attack the player character in a ‘playful’ mood(like Rock Slimes which roll into a ball and attempt to smash themselves into the player). Yet there are two which are hostile to the player, one being an angered version of a ‘Largo Slime’ called ‘Feral Slime’. Their locations are easily marked with a nice, friendly skull and crossbones(that totally doesn’t say “DEATH BEYOND THIS POINT!!”).
And then, there are The ‘Tarr’, which is the result of a horrific transformation of a Largo Slime that eats a 3rd plort from a different slime. This new breed of ‘slime’ sees other slimes as food, and also using them to reproduce into more Tarr (which can cause an outbreak). But their favorite food…is the player character.

Combat/Health System: There’s four ways to stop a Tarr outbreak from getting worse. 1. Burn them. 2. Hurl them into the slime sea. 3. Splash water on them. 4. ..Run away screaming like a pussy.
However, running away is sometimes the best option, especially at night. If running isn’t an option, attempting to suck up the offending slime and blast it away (that isn’t into a wall), will work.
The player starts with 100 Health and 100 Energy. Energy drains from sprinting, but does recharge with time (same as health). The player doesn’t die when their health hits 0, instead she gets knocked out. Everything in their inventory is lost, the player shows up at The Ranch, and time gets set to the next day.

Maps/Levels/Chapters: The game takes place at ‘Far, Far Ranch’. Exploration is key to finding new slimes to feed (and sell their plort). It also reveals special ‘Gordo Slimes’ which are rumored to accept a crapload of food until they blow up. The result, is a key which can be used to open a ‘slime door’. It is unknown where these doors lead.

.
What I liked;
-The game is pretty cute, and it’s easy to understand it’s core features.
-Supports my resolution, however with no Windowed Fullscreen option.
-Every breed of slime has its own personality.
-The game has two game modes, with the original and a 5-day rush mode(no idea what it is).
-Plorts have a (claimed) purpose back on Earth, that benefits the human race one way or another.

What I didn’t like;
-There’s literally no refunds if you happen to mess up on an upgrade purchase. Though thankfully it’s not too hard to get your money back with enough plorts.
-Running back and forth begins to get repetitive.
-Lack of a backstory of the player character (and the relationship between her and this ‘Casey’ character), or even an end goal. Surely the end goal can’t possibly be “I’m gonna 100% completion this!”
-The economics mechanic (affecting plort wealth), IMO, fluctuates a bit too frequently and doesn’t feel balanced. Even plorts from slimes I don’t have, lose value.

Final Opinions/Thoughts;
As I said, the game feels really cute of needing to take care of slimes (and deal with their specific diets to get the most profit available), and you can’t ignore a Tabby Slime’s cute cat-like face. The interesting transformation of seeing a slime eat the plort of another. Of course it raises the risk of one of them becoming a Tarr and devouring everything (and creating more of itself).
Yet I also feel without a backstory or even a proper endgame, that’s all the game becomes. With time, the game will start to feel repetitive and a grind. I personally don’t want to see “make the most money” be the actual endgame. And what worries me greatly is I read this game is to be fully released next month, with only one more major update. If this major update isn’t what I said, I doubt I will personally keep playing this game.

However, this isn’t a bad game. If you’re into.. well, what would eventually be considered a mindless grind of trying to maximize your profits, then go on ahead and get this game. But please take this review to heart.

MRT’s 5th Anniversary

First off, enjoying my break from Wurm. If I see another piece of clay, I’m going to go insane. Attended the 5th Anniversary of the MRT today. Had a real blast. There was a parade, balloons, games, everything you could think of for a proper anniversary!!
(The above statement is false (about the Anniversary being fun)…)

What really happened is two events; a self-guided tour, and a few games of Connect 4 at the old Redstone Gaming Center. The first thing, I contributed twice to (as a secret project that happened a few weeks before this day). Godzilltrain asked me to first write down ‘a few paragraphs’ about I-0. ..It nearly turned into myself wanting to write a small novel about the history of the first Intermap of the MRT (though I did my best to trim it down to the important parts).
And due to myself playing Mass Effect Andromeda, I tried to make it where only the new visitors of the server would find it interesting (of this being ‘ancient history’).
I did an about face of the second request, of writing about the MRT Marina (yet ending with “MRT Historians closely guard the secret how this place is still pristine, to this very day”).

And the second was Frumple wanting to try out Connect 4 (to do some ‘casual tournaments’ as he claimed). I decided to just watch the others duel it out, and it was somewhat fun to watch. Twice, of seeing blind moves that gave the opponent the win (with one Stalemate happening). Like this time where one had a chance to win, but blew it by picking the wrong slot..only to lose a few minutes after. Hilarious.

After that, things…just went back to normal. I kept asking if there’s any more activities, and I keep having my question ignored. Decided to leave, and here I am writing this post to tell you about it.
Overall, it was better than last year. I just expected more to mark five years since the server launched. Not even a Spleef Tournament. Quite upsetting, but oh well. I hope to live long enough to see the 10th year (in 2022). I pray it will be better. Then again, who’s to say the server will last that long? What will happen if something happens to Frumple in five years?
But let’s just not think that. For what it’s worth, this was ‘OK’ for the 5th year.

The day Tulsi ‘moved’… out of Wurm (but for how long?)

“What the fuck did you do?!” is probably coming to your mind after reading the title to this post. And my answer…this whole thing has been my fault since I came back to Wurm. I tried to drag him into a game he clearly shouldn’t be a part in. Wurm is an adult game, full of people who understand that things take time to get anywhere (and are rewarded for their efforts), as like real life.
Tulsi, being just a kid, again has no business. I hoped I could teach him as angry taught me, and he -kind of- looked like he wanted to learn. Yet, he wants to play other games (Minecraft, ROBLOX etc) more than coming back to Wurm. I literally have to beg for him to come in and get things done.
He clearly, doesn’t like this game. And the proof happened the day we moved out of OR for good.

As I said before, B2 was to escort him away. He (as myself) told him to set a course for Cele. Tulsi seemed to understand how to do this after being told, and I felt there would be no problem. Just follow B2, and I’ll get him to our new home easy-peasy!
But when B2 crossed the server border into Cele…Tulsi no longer was behind him. Instead, he wound up in Xanadu instead. I got a bit mad, asking “why weren’t you paying attention?” He claims he thought he had it set right, but clearly not.
Told myself “it’s his first time crossing servers. Don’t be hard on him, and just get him out of there!” And so I did, telling him to set a course to Inde, do a 180 and go. Instead, he goes to Cele…..now on the wrong side of the server. FFFFFF—!!!
At this time, B2’s water bar was low (and his water skin was empty). So I had him go to the shoreline, moor there and wait for Tulsi to eventually show up, and went back to him. I couldn’t send B2 to assist Tulsi, as I had no idea how he could reach him. Instead, I did my best to talk him of what servers to hop through in order to get on the south side of Cele. With myself being completely distracted of trying to instruct Tulsi, I glanced over at my second monitor and saw B2 being attacked by a crock! Tried to haul ass out of there, but the crock kept interrupting his attempts to raise the anchor..killing him like the sitting duck he was.
NOW..it’s personal. I tried to blame Tulsi for B2’s death, saying if he just understood a simple order, we wouldn’t be in this mess…but again, it was his first time. Since I couldn’t kick Tulsi’s ass, I decided I wanted to kick the crock instead.
Had to sail home, and picked B2 up. At this time, Tulsi finally got to the correct side of Cele. I told him to fully look to his right (where the coastline stops) and take a picture for me to know where he was. He..doesn’t know what a ‘shoreline’ is. WHAT THE FUCK?! HOW can you.. that’s something they teach you in kindergarten!!
He wasn’t making this easy. However, neither was the sudden fog that decided to hamper my efforts even more. I told him to just head straight for the shore, but watch out for anything that tries to attack you. He understood this and did what was told of him.

With Tulsi out of the way (for now), I focused back on B2. Got back to his boat, and saw the crock that killed him (up on a hillside where I couldn’t get it). B2 got to his boat and looted his corpse. Instead of getting him out of there incase the crock wants a second go, I had him stay there incase Tulsi showed up. I get distracted again by him, and …B2 gets attacked by the same crock. Kills him again (and gets teleported back to the new deed) before I could try to tank it. This time it’s me VS the crock, and I’m kicking its ass for causing me so much grief.
Crock dies. Decide to throw its corpse in my boat (so B2 could make the first meal in the new deed). I am SUPER-pissed right now at all of this. I decide to go find this ‘fuck’ myself and personally take him back to the deed.
Find Tulsi a bit further West of where B2 died twice. He’s AFK, and I ‘ping’ him in Skype (by yelling “WAKE UP!!”). Without a word, he starts following me. I decide to calm down and tell him to let me know if I get too far (as I cannot see behind me). Not a peep out of him…he’s no longer following me.
He completely ignores what I said, saying “since i lost you i decided to go exploring”. At this time, I’m up to the top of my head with anger. So much that I decide to say “you know what? Go on. Explore. Just don’t come fucking crying to me when a troll kills you!”
After saying that, I calmed down a bit and told him “dude, you’re not prepared to explore. You don’t have gear or any way to heal yourself (or even a horse). Please, just follow me”. Eventually, he does. I told him how I feel he’s my responsibility in this game, and I’m only trying to protect him. And really, that’s the truth. Yet I have this issue of overprotecting (like a parent), and not just allowing things to happen on their own (aka, why I chose to resign as a Mod on the MRT).

Then it just started flowing all back to me as I continue to escort him, of the reason he’s even in this game. It’s all because of me. I was hoping I could get him into the game, to prove to myself that I could teach him what Angry taught me. Yet the more I thought about it..I realized it wasn’t just Angry who taught me, but several people. Vixeyrose and Yeosh(surprised I still remember those names) taught me things as well.
But in all, I actually taught myself to tolerate some of this game. Tulsi is much too young to understand that.
But the thing is, he refuses to go to anyone else’s deed in order to learn; he wants to stay with me. Yet I expect him to know his shit. And even if he agreed, I doubt he’ll have the will to keep logging in every day (as he hasn’t had it yet of living with me).

At that point, I had to confront him about this. I tried to catch him in a way he couldn’t use his ‘Tulsi head games’ to avoid answering the question, and admitted he doesn’t care for the game. And so I tried to do my best to convince him, to just..not play anymore. His response was “nooooooo!!!” (which I feel is just more of his head games. Sick of them).
Why I feel like it was more of his head games? If he really wanted to prove he cared for Wurm, his response would’ve been a lot different and more sincere (than just “nooooooooooooo!!!”).
And this actually had ‘perks’ to it, as where Saint suggested to put Tulsi’s house, is now the official Cart Storage building for the deed. This is mainly because I didn’t like the design he had for the pens (and wanted to try my own idea).

Posted in PC | Comments Off on The day Tulsi ‘moved’… out of Wurm (but for how long?)

Told ya it was going to be a ‘crazy week’…

…and I’m not even close to completion. Infact it’s been a crazy two weeks. I barely even remember how it started. I should’ve had this post done a long time ago, but I’ve just been so busy with post-moving and construction; having to do nearly everything on my own. Even worse is I haven’t had time to do any game reviews.
All I can say, is the new place is called ‘Dragontail Hideaway’ (which even has some official lore that I made up), and it’s smaller than it originally was going to be (21×21 instead of 29×29).

Since so much has happened between …whenever I remembered what happened to now, I’ll just post the parts that mattered.
First off, Saint. He’s been helping me (more off than on) with this construction project. I don’t know what I can pay the guy of once we (or just myself) finally get done with this thing (as it seems as it’s been taking way too long to build). I also have been forced to work around his schedule, of when he’s able to take a break from building his deed (and his real life of taking care of his kids). Though one time I felt like he had ‘bailed’ on me to avoid helping me make the second building that requires mortar. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Up next, is Tulsi. I told him my plan of moving to the new deed all the way up to moving…and then, well, I’ll explain later on(possibly in its own post). A few days before I founded, I (as B2) decided to bring him with me and see how he likes the place (while I was still at OR talking to Saint while going over planning with him, of the deed). Instead of walking around and telling B2 what he thought about the place, he gave my alt a ‘gift’ of several mob corpses I killed. When he felt the ‘gift’ wasn’t accepted, he picked them all up, walked to my alt’s boat and acting like he was crying silently.
And then came the big day of moving out of OR (and disbanding the deed). Managed to only need two trips (mainly with how full I made my wagon and it didn’t want to fit in my Knarr). Very thankful that I’m allowed to load it with stuff in it, or it would’ve made the move a lot more tedious.
I had B2 escort Tulsi away from the deed (while I blew up everything on the deed). I made sure to grab everything I could. The only thing I didn’t (and regret a bit) is all of my horses. I should had put them all out of their misery instead of allowing the looters to claim them and force them to breed with their horses. But, it isn’t that big of a deal; half of them were venerable anyway, and would be no use to them. I was forced to kill the first horse I started with since coming back in 2015 (due to my own failure for not knowing when a horse isn’t branded anymore, I cannot interact with their inventory (without taming). I had no choice…
See my next blog dedicated to what happened with Tulsi after.

Back to the new place. Gathering the materials to build the place have been..less than fun (which is why it’s taking longer than normal). This is mainly because I’m trying to move away from ‘everything Planks’ to Timber-Framed and Stone. Timber Framed, is surprisingly easier than I thought. It doesn’t require me to make bricks (nor even mortar). Just 5 wooden beams(with wide arches taking an additional beam), 10 mixed grass, and 20 clay per wall. Though, I feel like I’ve collected enough of it to make five guard towers by now. 😛
Stone is still ‘out of my league’ due to my minimal Masonry skill (though Saint claims I should have no problem making mortar). Still… 20 Clay / Brick, and 2 Sand (that doesn’t include needing to gather more to cover failures) to make enough mortar for just one wall? That’s..insane. Now I know why mortar is a good seller (especially for people who build huge castles). Saint alone, has a friend who is ‘shitting bricks like there’s no tomorrow'(according to him). I asked him if his friend still has his sanity, and he says yes. Adding “I send him 10k shards. When he gets done with them, I’ll send him 10k more”(claiming he needs 22k in total for his deed)… fucking HELL, and here I was worried about abusing my own friendship with Saint?

It took time to get over this ‘doesn’t feel like mine’ feeling when Saint and I first started construction. People walking around my deed, and even through it (like it doesn’t exist) to attend some Sermon to the South and West of here. Most of the time, the person (or people) in my local flat out refuse to respond to me. I also was an accidental ass to someone who stayed in my local for the longest time. Asked if they were lost and stuff, and the person says “I just stepped outside of my deed”. Ouchy baba.
I also think I pissed off Lathe (again, accidental) while he was working on the canal and I was building the deed, telling him that I get paranoid when people stay in my local. Not the best thing to say to someone who has been here longer than I have. Yet I can’t help it. I don’t have walls (yet), and I feel even with a deed, people can take stuff from me. I don’t mean to offend these people. It’s just my fear of having people around me (that I haven’t worked with). In that spot, I cannot tell where they are. When it came to OR, it was usually someone passing by via boat.

Speaking of friends though, I made one named ‘Moonjuice’ who lives on the North side of the Kami Canal(the East canal to the ocean). She even gave me two 5-speed horses for free! However, both were just born(which’ll take possibly near the end of July when they’ll be ridable)..and both are male. Saint suggested once to breed them with the ‘crap’ horses we have. However, after an emergency I saw with one of the horses in this temp pen we set up, being Diseased, I had to pull all the healthy ones out of it and into the new pens that I built.
Now he says he’ll try to ‘contact his Cele allies’ (once he comes back possibly sometime this weekend) to see if I could get some more 5-speeds (that would hopefully be a breeding pair) and then kill off the wild horses to make room.

Finally (to finally wrap up this post), food is no longer an issue. Saint showed me how to cook ‘Breakfast’, which is much, much better than Stew (and easier to cook). It’s just meat and a veggie, and boom done! I tried to cook some myself, and was ‘reminded’ of just how long I had B2 cook for me over the years (with a 3QL Breakfast that barely filled myself up). B2 tried, and was able to make a max non-prem ‘20.00’ QL Breakfast. This is both awesome, and sickening at the same time. It reminds me of what Jukimo told me, that I should be doing everything on ‘my main’ and use my alt as a Priest.
Since this isn’t WoW (or a similar MMORPG), I refuse to call Dragonhead ‘my main’ (as he’s..me). Dragonhead, is me, in Wurm. I do not see him as a ‘main’.

So…I’m finally able to take a well-deserved break, and catch up with events outside of Wurm. The deed will survive without me (even though it’s still not fully walled-in yet). I got every structure complete (except for the farm and the ‘Grinding Floor’ (the second thing alone, I’m waiting for Saint)). Finally I can write and complete all of my game reviews, and play Slime Rancher (which I bought during the Steam Summer Sale this year).
Though, those things will have to wait, as the MRT’s 5th Anniversary is here! I will be talking about this in a new post sometime in the evening. I hope it will be a lot of fun and laughs. Though, I have my doubts (and I also feel I’m being ‘judged’ by a few people on the MRT Discord server), after stating I would come back on the same time as I did on Day 1. I decided against it, and will join as soon as I’m able.
(I feel people are more favorable of if their city will get Premiere than the anniversary. And people wonder why I rarely (if ever) come on the MRT anymore)

‘Day 2.5’ / Final pre-planning / B2, the Tulsisitter

Lots to talk about. Since there’s a lot, I will do it in spoiler sections for easier reading. Please read them in order to understand what’s going on.

Day 2.5

With ‘Day 2’ of Release’s exploration completed (having gone completely around the server and exploring everything possible by boat), I sailed back to Saint’s place. He promised I was going to get a few spare items for the new area (when/if I deed it). Even the fact he was offline, I went up there, got to his place, and parted ways with the horse.
Came on later than normal, having to go to the store and stuff IRL. He’s still offline, so… I decided to start up ‘Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Release (Day 2.5)’. This day was to head up those bridges of madness of the north, and get to the top! As I said, I HAVE to get up there! Started off by taming and equipping the horse, knowing I would probably need the speed to outrun anything easily.
The wind has shifted again to a gale from the NE(going SW). Felt this would work, using the canals ahead to get up there. However, I had to go DUE North in order to avoid going 10km/h (which means zigzag to face the canal openings head on).
Soon, I arrived at the bridges. Hopped out and mounted up on the horse, and attempted to cross the bridge. The first section went through a really tall (and fancy) building. Then came the bridge I wanted to go up since I first saw it. But guess what? IT’S A TRAP!! Lots of mobs attacked me on that bridge. In total count (of this bridge alone), two spiders, two trolls, a hellhound, two wolves. It was a mess. Thankfully there was a guard tower next to the bridge that I was able to get backup with the trolls. A road awaited me to more bridges (and more dangers to deal with). And it was nothing but incline. One time, I was on a one-tile road MILES IN THE SKY! FUCK YEAH, THIS ROCKS!
Near the tippy top was a troll on a bridge. I hesitated if I should fight it or bring it all the way back down to where that tower is. I decided to fight, like a true dragon! NOTHING is going to stop me from getting what I want!! 😀
Troll’s dead, left me with one Med that I was able to bandage easily. Then I got to the top…

Dude.. I..I…I CAN SEE THE ENTIRE SERVER UP HERE!!! HOLY FUCK!! This is what I truly love about Wurm. These are the challenges, I’m willing to face. And the reward, does not disappoint. And all I could do, was just roar out. A manly, draconic roar. This makes up for what happened on Exo, tenfold. Let that person (already forgot their name) have that stupid mountain..I got THIS. 😀
There’s also a deed up here (that’s properly named): ‘Vertigo’. That’s hilarious. Though what would be even more, is if I brought Tulsi up here (somehow). I could just see him bouncing off the side of the mountain, and then see ‘Penadragon is dead. R.I.P.” in my event log. Or actually, even funnier.. I do a “FUS.. RO-DAH!!” and Unrelenting Force him off the mountain. HAHAHAHahah…
And before you say “that’s mean and shameful! You should be ashamed of having that thought!”, Tulsi would actually enjoy it. Though he’s not ‘sick in the head’ or emo. He’s just being silly (he’s still a kid, people).

Time to go back down. I got stuff to do. Time to sail to Cele.

[collapse]

Final pre-planning

Finally back at sea level, I disembarked from the horse and lead it to my boat (not wanting to risk what happened at Exo of not being able to lead a horse on a deed)…however, thinking back at this, doing this wasn’t needed (I’ve been told before that I would had still been allowed to Lead (as long as I’m not logged out for longer than five minutes)). I left the spot, sailed to the coast, tamed and horse and got my stuff back. This is where we finally part ways. Then it was time to sail to Celebration.
I tried to go for this northern canal. Reached it, tried to go in, but it’s sealed up! I was forced to go around and leave that way. And by doing that, I was able to become nearly perfectly aligned with the canal to reach the area! NICE! Reached the area, it was dark. Here, I was going to do what I promised I would do for Saint on Monday (but I’m doing it today). Why? I got paid early, which means I can now afford to pay for the deed.
What’s going to suck about this final pre-planning, is I got two versions of the map that both use the flat map idea I tried to map the place out (and I can’t copy/paste sections between maps). So I thought of just doing it in the first draft of the mapping (and then hand-copy it over after getting back home), and got to work trying to match the height in Deedplanner to what it shows ingame. And now I have the main hill raised up.

I also attempted to see how much I was going to have to pay with this reduced size of 21×21. After I got in the correct tile counts of all four cardinal directions and then tried to survey the perimeter, and the page closed out. The Event log is saying “You cannot found the settlement here, since there are dangerous aggressive creatures or dens in the area.” What?! I did clear out a few lava spiders that were lurking outside the area, but I didn’t see anything (because it’s night). So I was forced to do a sweep of the area, and sure enough..an adol black bear that I didn’t see (again, night) shows up to attack. If I could, I would had sliced that bear in two for being in the area with my axe.
Went back to the midpoint and tried it again, and this time I wasn’t getting a Settlement option. Are you fucking SERIOUS?! Don’t TELL me there’s a timer until the spot doesn’t becomes available! However, I fucked up because I was supposed to be right clicking the deed stake..not the tile (after asking CA HELP). After everything was done, it showed 7s and 41c would be taken from my bank upon purchase (this figure is now wrong, as I discovered I need to expand West to 7 tiles instead of 6(as I want to wrap two roads around my house to serve as the West entrance to the deed). But I don’t think the price tag would change that much).
Overall, the livable size of the deed would be (from the token) 10 North, 10 South, 7 West, and 14 East. Smaller than OR, but bigger than when I first founded it. So this is done, and those two are the only things I really need done here. I then decided to flip to Skype and ask Tulsi (basing on when Solrise would happen) if he would be on in a half an hour. He first says he doesn’t know, so I had to wait ’till that time. Soon Solrise happened and I asked him again, and he responds a bit later saying sure, then asks how long the ride was going to take. I say “I pray one day you would stay on long enough and ENJOY the ride. But I guess today is not the day.” He says he’s ‘kind of’ working on something else.
This is when Saint logs in.

B2, the Tulsisitter

I asked Saint how was his wife’s birthday party, and he said it was pretty good. Then I asked him if he was good to give me the free stuff and said sure. I load up B2.exe (aka my second account) and get him ready to take Tulsi to the area (while I head back to Release to get the items).
Tulsi’s AFK for a good 20 minutes after logging in, then goes down and hops in his rowboat, ready to take B2 there.. that’s cute, except you have no idea where to go.
He has trouble trying to moor his boat, constantly pulling up the anchor and mooring back and forth. Finally he gets it and hops in B2’s sailboat, and he sets sail.. for one minute when Tulsi suddenly hops out and swims to the spot just north of OR, asking “is this the place” (at the time I thought he was saying “this is the place”, which annoyed me(as B2)). Tried to get him back into the boat and he did. Back to sailing.
He then asks if he’s allowed to go AFK. Listen, people. Everyone has a life, but I swear sometimes Tulsi deliberately does this to avoid having to sit through all of it when he could be enjoying the trip.

A few minutes later, he hops out of the boat again after seeing the sailboat and rowboat parked at the ‘abandoned'(yet still deeded) spot that’s up the coast, saying “free sailboat”.. *facepalm* ohh Tulsi, you have SOO much to learn, and I don’t think I have the patience to do it. Yes, the point of learning is for him to figure things out on his own, but I’m just worried he’s going to get himself (or something I need..like a horse or a farm animal) killed.
But I guess that’s part of Wurm. It’s supposed to be challenging (yet also rewarding). I just wish I knew how Angry taught me. Yet it wasn’t just Angry, but several others (such as how to build a house, how to make planks and nails, how to mine, etc). So that proves that I can’t teach Tulsi everything on my own, yet he refuses to leave my deed to go learn. And if he eventually does, I’m probably have to bail his ass out if he gets himself lost (and then logs off before I get there and doesn’t come back). Who the FUCK has the patience for that?!?! Maybe I should ask Saint one of these days.
..Sorry, back to the story here. Didn’t mean to monologue. He ‘discovered’ that he couldn’t take the ‘free’ boat due to permissions, and I asked him to get in mine and stay in “for your own safety”. And he finally listened to me.
Finally in Cele, I (as B2) followed the shoreline. Was a bit too far West, but I had to as Tulsi would likely bitch about how long it’s taking (as he has before).

Someone named ‘Corvand’ shows up in local. Tulsi says “who’s corvand”, the person says “the fucker who lives here. :P” Wow. Ok, not the jolliest of people, are they? Though I also had to get on Tulsi about what to and what not to say infront of people (just incase). I also told him…something someone told me in Exo (which was one of the most embarrassing days in my Wurm life) to just wave and…to not expect the person is ignoring you. Hell, even I learn things ‘new’ that SHOULD HAD BEEN FUCKING COMMON SENSE!! :/ To say “we all make mistakes”, I should’ve been beaten with a bat for being rude to people, thinking they were deliberately ignoring me.
Meh. Definitely never going back to Exo to explore again. Anyway.. I assumed Tulsi got the message. At this same time, I (as DH) am in Release. I’m too busy dealing with Tulsi that I had completely passed where Saint parks his boats, and didn’t realize until MUCH..much later. Turned around and had to go back up North.

Back to B2 and Tulsi, the canal to the area gets closer, and I tell Tulsi to please behave himself. Lots of people fill up local, and then Tulsi opens his damn mouth and says “dear god” and “how many players are here”. I quickly try to get the situation under control (to keep Tulsi from accidentally pissing off the entire server) by saying “Hey, guys.” This seems to work just fine, and Tulsi waves (he’s actually listening to me, this is a really good sign).
We then enter the canal, and he says in all caps “WOWIE IT’S A CANAL” and “SPOOKY”..ohhh my god. Finally got to the area. First thing Tulsi tries to do is get inside the fence that has all Saint’s stuff in (for me, when it’s time to deed it up), then he..tries to kill one of the wild horses, which I have to tell him, in all caps..”STOP ATTACKING THE HORSE.” Remember what I said how I was worried about getting himself (or something I NEEDED) killed? That’s what it was. Told him to move away from the horse, so it’s all good there.
I tell him to just walk around the area and see if he likes it (since he’s (unfortunately) going to be living here). I use this as a distraction where I can focus as DH a lot more. And by the time Tulsi says “I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU”, I finally find where Saint’s boats are and head up the roads. I wanted him to come down here, but he’s busy. I find him working on an extension of his deed, stating he’s trying to get a mine going to get more shards, and he says he’s got a friend “pushing out bricks like there’s no tomorrow”. Lol. Nice.
I ride on the back of this wagon as he throws the free stuff in my boat. I tell him “Thanks for everything, man.” Yet I also remind him of this promise he made to help me build the deed, and he says “sure, i love free xp”. Ohhkay. I wouldn’t call having to make a fuckton of planks, ‘free XP’. But whatever.
Back with Tulsi and B2, Tulsi gives B2..several corpses that I as DH didn’t butcher, including two pelts that Saint made for me (even know I have B2 holding onto several for me). I say to him “Thanks…?” He gets pissed off (somehow), takes the corpses and the pelts, says “no gift for you” and then goes to cry in B2’s sailboat (where he eventually logs out).

[collapse]

What. a. day, and it’s just getting started. This entire couple of weeks is going to be crazy. Either tonight or tomorrow, I plan to slap down the token. I’m still debating if I should go with ‘Dragontail Hideaway’ as the official name. Something about it just feels…off, especially when Saint yesterday told me how “it sounds like what a dragon does when it runs away”.
His words just feel a bit.. ‘harsh’. I know that was not his intention at all (of course not). But just hear me out. The way I originally saw it, the ‘Dragontail’ part of it resembles the canal thing, and the ‘Hideaway’ resembles how ‘out of the way’ and ‘quiet’ it felt when I first saw it of my initial exploration of Cele.

There’s also the MRT’s 5th anniversary I need to be a part of (on the 14th). But I actually love this kind of stress (maybe I’m the one that’s ‘sick in the head’, and not Tulsi). Though it’s mainly because there’s no punishment for failing.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Release (Day 2)

Started right back up from where I left off (even the wind hadn’t changed). Saint was offline at this time(had just missed him a minute ago). On the East side of this lake, I saw a cave canal not on the map. Decided to follow it, trying to regain my personal rep of being an explorer. All it did, was lead me out to the West coast. Turned around and went back through to Mercury Lake.
Started following the coast again. Saw the corpse of a fog spider near one of the two bridges. Nothing really interesting on the shoreline apart from a few castles. Went back through the cave canal into the South Sea. As I continued along the coast (heading for ‘Southwind Heights’), GL-Freedom started getting active, with everyone talking about PvP and armor sets. One even mentions about “wild”. Wait WHAT?! The Wild server is still active?! Though as I think upon it, it’s still the Epic server (just some folks still call it Wild). I decided to chirp in when they were talking about dragon armor making PvP pointless, of how I wish dragon armor was removed completely, mentioning everyone I spoke to (sellers) wore dragon armor, and how “it makes me feel noobish”. One says “good keeps noob in its place”…I stopped talking after that. Harsh much…? Another great reason to stay in the Freedom Isles (PvE)!

Noticed the wind had shifted from a south light breeze, to a north light breeze. Because THAT’S realistic, RIGHT?! Only in Wurm! Passed by another dead ‘market’, though this one was funny. It was a ran down castle, something about Amsterdam. I still remember that really good video called “history of the world, i guess”, and said “‘Damn’ said Amsterdam”.. We got A DEADLY LASER that pillaged our stuff! (this isn’t from the video, just something I thought was funny and would be part of one of those Youtube Poops).
Made it around the mountain wall into Southwind Heights. Near the deed ‘Hidden Valley’ (that wasn’t so hidden), was a mine entrance that was really close to the water level. This was the canal to get further into the heights, of these coves and stuff. The cave canal, has really seen better days. I had to worm my way around a lot of collapsed walls to get to the exit. But unlike other cave canals I’ve seen, this one ends at an angle going West, entering a deed named ‘Retirement Plan’. Interesting. The place felt..dead. Lots of mountainous shorelines.
Directly ahead of me, was another cave canal. This one isn’t on the map. Went for it. Come on! BE AN EXPLORER! This canal was a lot better maintained, with reinforced walls on both sides(using veins as natural supports). Came out the other side, and felt..lost. Fuck me. I HATE NOT KNOWING WHERE I AM AT ALL TIMES!! D:{ …I told myself to juuuust, RELAX, and enjoy the scenery. And I did enjoy it. There were a few people in local here, but I decided not to ask for directions (again, just enjoy the view).
Ahead of me in a secluded area, looked like an abandoned deed. No structures, just a fence. There were a few mobs around (mostly bears). Closed in and was about to moor and hop out of my boat to deal with the bears, then suddenly I notice “You enter ‘Deed Name Here'” in the Event tab. Fuck. Did a 180 and headed back.
I managed to find the canal I used to get here, and got back to areas on the map. Used the other canal ahead of me and back out into the ocean! Yay, no longer lost. Swung around the coast, passing by a small Marsh island by the coast, and.. Day 2 of exploration is completed!

“Wait, done already? Why?” you might be asking, and my answer to you is that’s what happens when the server is small. However, I wasn’t completely done with Release..not yet. It will be continued in ‘Part 2.5’.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Release (Day 1)

The time has come to finally explore Release. Gotta have something to do while waiting for three days. However, instead of going right to exploring, Saint was shockingly online. I expected him to be offline ’till Monday.
Started off the conversation (while heading for my boat) with “Please wish your son a Happy Birthday from a complete stranger, alright?” And then, I just had to ask him.. of just why he feels the mapping job I did isn’t good enough, and he finally confessed that I didn’t do the height of the back roads (and the hills). I told him I would get to it this Monday. But I didn’t end it there. I said “if this is also about the hills, I’m sorry but I didn’t like the houses being here. Infact I was going to level them down”.
Next thing I know, he says to send him the map and he started getting to work (while I’m exploring the server). The point of moving there was to avoid living on a hill.

So as I’m trying to get some pictures at anything cool (as I’m going along the West coast of the server), I’m having to talk to him (and look at whatever plans he comes up with) at the same time. Got a bit chaotic, trying to get my mouse cursor to a certain point (so I can get a pic at the name that pops up with the mouseover).
Most of the trip (up to the point I had to set up camp near a guard tower) was pretty uninteresting (in terms of anything cool). Usually I would be logging off and doing something else (while paying attention to WurmClock for when the needle showing Sol’s position hits between 4-5), but I’m talking to Saint. While this is going on, I see a sailboat going by in the darkness. It’s the same person I met when I first arrived in Release, asking “did you find your friend?” I said Yes, then ask them what they’re doing sailing this late. Person says that they’re trying to get to the South coast. I have to state the bad news, of that they’re on the North coast instead.
Saint says he has to log off while during this, and does so. The person thanks me, and continues going West. Then I log out. I take this time to do a few adjustments to the plan.
One of these, is quite sentimental to me. And that is to dedicate the 2nd bridge that boats would be going under to enter the main point of the area, to.. Emeriss the Ferocious. I’ve seen a few bridges using ‘Something Memorial Bridge’ and I decided to call this one ‘Emeriss the Ferocious Memorial Bridge’. It’s not a gravesite, it’s a bridge named after her.
However…I have just recently learned there’s a character limit of 40 characters for a bridge(similar to naming a structure), and after counting(including spaces), I’ll be three characters short of the limit! That is fantastic news. Thank goodness.
Another change, is he originally tried to fill up empty spaces with farms. After a lot of thinking, I decided to have only one farm be behind ‘B2’s Diner’. I also discovered that I can squeeze in (for the first time), a 3×7 area for livestock (cows/pigs/chickens/bulls, etc). How well that idea will work, who knows.

Sol’s finally heading up and I log back in. I’m quite happy with the results of the map and I get in my boat and sail off, not even realizing I just forgot something very important (until later on). Now on the NE coast, I wave at a few people who say hi back. One of them asks if I’m ‘just passing through’. I told them I was just exploring. The person tells me a few places to visit, and I thank them (while trying to go around this bay to continue following the coast). Then the person asks if I’m looking for a place to live. I told the person that I have a deed back at Indy.
Their response is “that’s on another server right”. And I’m saying to myself “kick on it KICK ON IT!!” (telling my boat to go faster to get this guy out of my local).
An idea pops into my head, and I say “let’s say that Indy is my home”. As soon as I get finished typing it and send, the guy leaves my local (and never tries to PM me).
That was close.

I get a bit lost, using the world map as a guide to path my exploration route around a few islands and to also get to the mainland (so I can try to see everything there is to see). Finally find the bridge I’m looking (the same bridge I saw as B2 before he went South to pick me up). and start following the island around. I start to studder, see a deed that looks strangely familiar..and all the sudden a rush of memories hit me. THIS is near where Tulsi was (of trying to get him to be taught by someone else)!!
And sure enough, the deed was there. It didn’t look (at all) different from when I first arrived to pay Tulsi a visit. Since Saint was still offline, I had to wait to ask if he knew Ultradude (and if the guy is nice). Again, at the time, I didn’t trust anyone with ‘recruiter’ in their name.
Finally around the island, I head to the mainland. This time I’m using the community map (as it shows canals). Took this one canal into ‘Trigorn Tarn’.. what the heck is a ‘Tarn’? “A small mountain lake” says Wikipedia. Learn something new everyday.
The NW section of this ‘tarn’ really…REALLY caught my attention. Holy fuck did it! Someone built a wooden bridge, from the ground…to SCALE A FUCKING CLIFF FACE!! I saw other bridges that looked like they were connected to the top of this mountain cliff. OHH DAMN I want to go up there SO BADLY! The view must be KILLER!!! 😀
…If I only had a horse, I would had just said “fuck everything, I have GOT to get up there! OHH BABY!”
Passing by the really cool thing, I continue following the coastline. Was hearing tons of fire sounds playing..which means lava spiders are around. Sure enough, the grand one of them all (a champion lava spider)0 sitting on the wall. Decided to just leave it alone. I don’t purposely go after mobs unless they’re in my way (or have pissed me off that I want to kill the next mob I see).
Left that area (through the same canal I entered) and followed the coastline South. As I near the end of it, there were two bridges to the right of me (yet both crossing in the same place). Took one of them and tried to go enroute to a place called ‘Lotus Landing'(which claims has a market). Sol is also going down at this time, but I still had enough light to see where I’m going..right into a ridiculously-long landbridge (that did show up on the map)…why is this stupid thing existing?! The wind shifted to the Southwest, making me slower (I swear it knows which way I’m heading and the best way to troll me).
Finally arrive at the spot, and it looked completely deserted. The ‘market’, all there was left was two stalls (with one having a trader). There was a raised up area ahead of me, but all attempts to get up there are blocked by gates. Whatever. Saw a guard tower nearby (with a gate infront of it), and I’m praying this too isn’t locked, and thankfully it wasn’t.

Time to put my tent do– wait a minute. Why is the spot in my toolbar of where I keep my tent, empty? Suddenly, it comes rushing at me. I FORGOT TO GRAB MY FUCKING TENT!!
FUUUUUUCK!!…Luckily, I remembered the spot I dropped my tent, there’s a road going South that goes to more water. I was able to worm my way back up and got to the other side of the road. Got into my cloth gear in order to run faster..spider shows up out of nowhere, forcing me to re-gear to kill it. There was a tower nearby, but I’ve discovered since the latest updates, guards are having pathing issues.
One time (while I was still by my tent before) I called guards to deal with a wolf (something I can kill easily, but was too far to bother), I watched one of the guards go into the run animation, into the idle animation (right infront of me). Obviously, they’re bugged out. They used to respond more efficiently before, but apparently the Wurm devs don’t see this being important enough to fix. 😛
I’m just glad I have 71FS(almost 72), and can defend myself from nearly everything out there (including trolls).
Got my tent and went back to my boat. It’s night, but luckily I knew how to get back..or so I thought. I ended up passing what was a market(due to hardly any lights on the shoreline). Arriving, I helped myself to a total of 11 empty large crates, sitting right on the shoreline for anyone to take. Score!! Not only will these be useful in the future, I won’t have to make more crates! Win-win right there.
Got out of my boat, went over to the tower, slapped my tent down (telling myself NOT to forget it when I log back in prior to Solrise this time…) and logged out.

While I was off, I started thinking of good name for the area (where my future deed might be). I went over Saint’s suggestions, and suggestions I got from Lathe(of putting ‘Sunshine’ in the name), and I believe I’ve come up with a pretty good name..
‘Dragontail Hideaway’. Saint wasn’t on, so I couldn’t ask his opinion on the name. I just like how it rolls off the tongue. Plus, the name can have lore to it, such as a dragon is running away from being hunted, finds this place, settles down, dies of old age, and its tail becomes the ‘canal’ (aka, becomes a part of the land). Of course, what happened to the rest of its body? And how could a dragon’s tail become a canal? Was it a water-based dragon?
Mmm..it’s really all I can think of in such short notice. I can always change the name in the future if I don’t like it.

Came back on, and continued exploring the bay of ‘Lough Scaith’. Someone familiar popped in my local, digging away at clay. That someone was Saint. I waved at him, but he just kept mindlessly digging away as if he was a robot. He was either AFK, or not wanting to say anything to avoid unleashing the pure hate he had for this. Just kept going, following the coastline. Nothing real interesting on this side of the server.
Swung around to the East coast of Release, following the coast. Eventually..I got to the spot where B2 had to pick me up in order to ‘rescue me’. As promised, I docked and went up the roads to get to Saint’s place in order to see the progress. Had to outrun a crock (with no horse, I didn’t really want to risk it).
And he’s been quite busy. His place is still a mess, but it looks better than when I first saw it. Most of the exterior walls are complete. I also noticed his alt in my local, and hearing the sounds of foraging/botanizing. So this is his ‘secret’ of how he does it; he uses his alt instead of himself for that task! He responded, first saying it was no secret and he already told me. I said “you never told me you use your alt to do it”. He says the reason why is he’s waiting for his Favor to rise, then disappears from Local.
I’m thinking “a likely story…” So that’s something I could have B2 do, if I decide to move to the new spot. Quite the brilliant idea.

Headed back to my boat to continue the trip. Sol’s going down as I left the port here. Spent too much at Saint’s place. Got to the South coast and tried to plot an exploration path around the many islands here. Unfortunately, some of these where going to be on my left side. Eventually I was forced to rest at Snake Island, infront of a guard tower on a deed called ‘Shamflam Pizzaplace’. Decided to get a few pictures before Sol finally went down. All three of Wurm’s moons are in the sky this night. Sirus and Valrei are infront of me, following Sol’s ark, and Jackal is behind me, being fully luminated by Sol. Since it was a deed, I couldn’t throw my tent down. But since I didn’t have a horse, this wasn’t a problem.

The next day came, and the wind has shifted to a South light breeze. Just great. and I followed Snake Island (including the big island) around. Eventually I reached the bridge I originally went under to get to Saint for the first time. I could see why Saint said this was an eyesore, and he was right. Infact, it’s not even needed. The bridge goes..nowhere.
Back on the main land (following the inner East coast of the South Sea). Passed under a bridge I remembered before (and not really seeing anything interesting), I eventually got to where I remembered Saint dropping me off in his Caravel. Got off and tried to follow the roads I remembered following up to his place. Suddenly, I felt I had egg on my face. If I had just went West a bit, then turned North at the 4-way intersection, I would had made it back to his boat. However, that wouldn’t get back to mine. While back at the spot, I spotted an old horse in the distance. Decided to grab it and take it with me.
Passing back under the bridge, I continued to follow the coast..soon I arrived at his old place. Holy wow. ALL I would’ve had to do was follow the coast and I would’ve made it back to my boat?!?! Ugh. Pfft..I’m no explorer. A true explorer goes everywhere, and anywhere. They don’t need a map. But at least now I know how to get there. I don’t feel ‘lost’ anymore. Passed by a lot of Saint’s alliance members’ deeds, on my way to the cave canal to get to Spawn Lake. In one deed, there was a fuckton of Cogs, Corbitas, and Caravels.
Finally I reach the canal, going only 12.02km/h. Was quite painful. Came out of the canal, following it on the right. Passed by the deed of ‘Shadowwolf’, one of Saint’s friends. Outside of their deed, I saw two horse statues near the store. I debated if I should take them. Discussed it with Saint, who says “they’re completely worthless and take about 5 seconds to make”..yeah, sure, Mr ‘High Mason’. 😛 To rub it in my face more, he said he hopes to get to 80 Masonry by the time he completes his deed.

Sol’s going down yet again, and I feel I have yet to get to Sloping Sands. I tell Saint I hope to get there before Solset, yet I’ve circled the entire shoreline and can’t find it! Looking closer at the map, I head back up North (slow as can be with a light breeze). A spot I was before, that I assume was blocked off…was actually accessible. It’s now night by the time I arrive at the spot, then log out.
The next morning…fog is developing. Instead of Sol burning the fog away, it seems to maintain its thickness for the longest time that I can ever remember seeing fog. Just then, the Event tab flashes showing “A new rift is reported!” I tell Saint if this is the reason for the fog not going away, and he says he doesn’t know, but strongly suggest I go do the Rift event. Ahaha..right. Not after all the horror stories I heard. The risks outweigh the benefits (to me).
The fog persisted, looking out it was thinning slightly and then thickening back up. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The starter deed had a bell in it, and I decided to ring it. I was curious what would happen (thinking it might even ‘scare’ the fog away). All it did was cause 0.08 damage on it.. fuck. Managed to repair the bell, and stopped using it. I didn’t know ringing it, increased the damage. I’ve never used one before. Saint had logged off at this time, so I was on my own.

It took until past noon game time until the fog finally started to slowly dissipate enough for me to see. I didn’t had time to watch it fully go away, as I lost so much time because of it. I left Spawn Lake via the cave canal, back into the South Sea and continued following the coastline (only going 11.76km/h.. I HATE light breezes as much as I hate gales in my face. The wind mechanic in Wurm is so unpredictable). I passed by where Saint first dropped me off and we went up to his castle.
After a good hour and a half later, I reached the ‘Black Market Trading Company’. Yay, the black market. I should find some damn good deals on questionable merchandise here! Well, I -would- IF..they had traders (which they had none). There were two people in my local here who I asked where the traders are. Neither of them knew, so I just explored this large deed. After finding no traders, I headed back to my boat. One of the two responded saying “No more shops, indeed”.
I felt I had to be ‘the first’ to state that the owner needs to change the icon on the community map to no longer show it’s a market, then headed West into another canal that will take me to ‘Mercury Lake’. I’m thinking “ohh great, so if I go for a swim, I’ll die of mercury poisoning?”
Sol is going down ‘early’ this time, thanks to that damn fog earlier. I explored what I can, getting concerned I wasn’t seeing a guard tower (this time, I have a horse).
Finally I arrived at the northern most point of the lake, seeing a tower on the shoreline (and a troll in the hills). Got guards on the troll as I approached the coast, not wanting that clubbing fucker to come down here and grief me.
Near me is a large cart, named in a very interesting way; ’02Jan2k16RedDragon’. Was there a red dragon here on January 2nd, 2016? Heck if I know(don’t think I was on Wurm at the time). I decided not to ask the locals, feeling that would be embarrassing (also didn’t bother looking inside the cart. Probably would’ve been empty).
I couldn’t get to the troll to assist the guards, because of the steep terrain. I had to go around the hill, and by doing so, lesser mobs (spider/wolf/scorp) awaited me. Killed them all, and got to the troll..no recipe. :/
Decided to butcher the guard’s corpse that was here (to piss off Vynora more), then set down camp and logged out..for the completion of Day 1.
