A new direction, yet with old burdens (+ early game gearing)

As I said, I didn’t have high hopes for today…and it seems I was right. Even my backup plan has failed. It seems not many play this class as in the past, plus I’m being redirected to another forum to ‘get ideas’.
This is not good. It just felt like more and more like that dreaded (yet also true) feeling of “this game is not for you”..especially when I said “no I don’t want to ‘get ideas’, I want a build that will work” and being told “I doubt anyone can help you with that”.

As the day went on, I asked the Guild I had joined yesterday (called ‘Simple Traders’) if this is the Guild to ask for crafted gear upgrades..and got no response. So I feel like I need to seek a more active Guild. Within five seconds after asking, I get an invite to join ‘Savage Hearts’. The person leaves before I could ask them more about the Guild (like is it what I’m looking for and stuff) and decide to join it and then ask. The people here never tell me what this Guild is about (and there’s only one guy responding). I assume this is a ‘jack of all trades’ Guild (as they also PvP).
I decide to wait ’till the afternoon to ask them the same questions I asked the last one, as I had a few things to do IRL. With them done, I tried to rephrase my question as “what I should I set my Attributes” (noticing my build was..already set from what it was before (the only thing that resetted was my attributes and the Champion Points I placed)). Anyway, one told me to put it all in Magicka. Finally we’re getting somewhere!
Then someone asks if I have ‘vox’. Told them I never heard of it. Was told this ‘GameVox’ chat client, stating they would be able to help me better in it through their server. And so I did. Had to make an account, and got right in to their channel.
And talking to them, they pretty much suggested that I reroll as either a High Elf or a Brenton Sorcerer (to take advantage of all the racial passive traits). They convinced me to make a High Elf (as Brenton also has bonuses to PvP which I don’t need). I also had to buy the ‘Adventurer’s Pack’ for 1,500 Crowns to get access to the ‘any race any alliance’ thing (as it won’t allow you by default). So now I can play as any race I wish, and be part of any alliance I wish. That’s pretty awesome, and I definitely had the Crowns to spare for it.
After spending nearly 15 minutes on the character customization screen, trying to make this race that I’ve never played as to look like me (and gave him the most generic name I could possibly think of ‘Benie Thehighelf’ (it actually would’ve been ‘Benie’ but with three ‘e”s at the end. Sadly the game won’t allow that)) I was finally in the game…yet not where I expected to be (which was Davon’s Watch). Instead, I wound up in ‘Bleakrock Isle’, the new starting zone for the Ebonheart Pact. What was quite odd was they were telling me “oh it’s always been like that”.. uhh, no. My DK AND my first Sorcerer first started in Davon’s Watch (in 2015); this I definitely remember happening. So it’s obvious this got changed. But, ehh. No biggy. It’s fine.

What isn’t, is the game didn’t give me a staff when I started. They’re giving me Melee weapons when I’m clearly a Ranged class. Well, I don’t have to use them. I can still just cast spells and stuff. I just won’t be able to use Destruction Staff abilities (until RNG eventually gives me one from questing).
And that’s what I’ve been doing so far. I’m struggling with the hotbars, though. I need to find an addon that’ll make this somewhat easier (yet also be simple to set up). There are addons that I have (aka Sorcerer Helper) which are supposed to be helping me, instead aren’t doing anything.

.
EDIT2: Had to buy a staff from the first merchant I saw. It was a basic one, but I finally had the Destruction Staff skill unlocked. Now I’m a true Ranged class! Seeing everyone that was a Sorcerer running around with a staff on their back (and I still had a stupid dagger)..WTF is going on?!
So I managed to get all the way to Davon’s Watch and getting ready to do the quests I remember doing. However, seeing how I’m still in my Soul Shriven ‘gear’…this is starting to concern me. I need to wear Light armor, and I keep getting everything else. Also I tried visiting a Tailor (one that sells Light/Medium Armor) but all they had was those things that would allow a Tailor to craft ‘in the Style’ (instead of actually having.. uh.. ARMOR! How in the fuck am I going to make sure I’m doing enough DPS when I’m still stuck in the beginner clothes?!
I don’t want to harass that trading guild with gear requests. Yet I need armor. “Not worrying about it ’till Level 50” doesn’t work in this game.

There’s also.. meh. Having to do the old Single Player campaign (for the 3rd time). It’s not really the fact of having to do it, it’s the fact I’m having to do it as the same class and spec I was before (under the same Alliance). Sure I could had picked the others, but they talked me into staying with the Pact.
So I’m going to have to think of something about armor acquiring. And another thing.. I also asked this guild if the $40 ‘expansion’ was worth it to them. “If you like PvP it’s worth it” is all I really got out of them. Though another one claims that there’s ‘probably’ more than 40 hours of gameplay in there. Clearly I’m not going to get a decent answer.

.
EDIT3: So this just went from ‘meh’ to ‘frustrating’. After posting this blog post, I asked my two guilds of why the Clothing merchants don’t sell Light Armor. In the second one, a guy by the name of ‘TurboRaptor’ said something that made my heart sink (and my frustration rise); to not buy vendor gear and to “make your own”. Uhh.. UHHHH. Me.. MAKE stuff (instead of questing)? You got to be kidding. This is why I look for a crafting guild to prevent having to do this! The only time I ever made armor was in Skyrim (yet that wasn’t even legit).
However, I decided to go with it instead of do my usual “I DON’T WANNA!!” thing, hoping it would be easy enough. Said to look for ‘Jute’, green plants with yellow flowers. When I asked “How many of these will I need to make a set?” Was told ’60’.
Ohh BOY!! I can see where this is going! I do so love ENDLESS ‘collection quests’!! No addons to help me either! PERFECT!

Stuck to it, as I had nothing better to do. Went back to the starter island, and was told that “they’re everywhere”. I expected to see them BE everywhere and not have to fucking look for them! Sure, there were a few areas where these plants were kind of close, and then there were these ones that I collect one and not see another for over 5-10 minutes of running around like a headless chicken. They must either be on a set timer, I’m lagging, or someone’s been taking all of them before me.
There’s this ‘Keen Senses’ ability I can get. Managed to get it…*facepalms in real life* all it does is make it glow when you’re within 20 meters or closer at Level 1 of it. Yeah, that’s quite helpful.. IF IT WAS FUCKING NIGHTTIME!!! D:( How is this helpful during the day?! Put fucking neon lights on it! You definitely couldn’t miss that!
Dunno what more to say about this. I can’t really say “fuck this” as that’s just going back to my lazy ass ‘everything has always been handed to me in life and I never had to work for it’ past. But HOW in the FUCK do people tolerate this shit?!
I’ve decided that I’m just not going to let this be my main focus, and quest normally. If I manage to see these stupid flowers while questing (not even going to bother trying to look for them..let them come to me), then I’ll collect them. But that’s it. I refuse to go on a wild goose chase to find these fucking things!

Or even better, if my first Guild could help, to possibly give me all the Jude I need and grind the skill enough to get to a level I feel like I won’t fall behind (like if I’m Level 40 and my Clothing skill is like Level 6 or something (and I can only make up to Level 20 gear).
There’s also another passive skill that unlocks at Clothing Level 3, of hiring someone that will gather random things for you (on a timer). Though I feel this thing will give me everything but Jude (and feel like a waste of a skill point).
From what I’m seeing so far, I wouldn’t doubt it. The only thing that I did like is the fact the skill will go up with regular questing XP. So it won’t be as grindy. That’s good, I guess. But again(so much ‘again’) I worry more about falling behind of not focusing on finding Jude (and then making it a grind of having to search).

On second thought, I don’t fucking care if I do fall behind. Maybe if I’m high enough (and find a more active crafting Guild as the one I’m in feels deader than Jakob Marley), they’ll take pitty on me (by whining enough on how this is an endless collection quest :P) and give me the gear I seek.
But that’s a big ‘maybe’. Who knows what the future holds.

Back in ESO..and not knowing how to play :P

Wow has it freakin’ been a LONG time! It’s been so long that I don’t even remember what addons I was using at the time. I don’t know how to get on my horse. I don’t know how to fight. I’m too scared to really say anything (because I don’t want to be seen as a new player).
I think I remember having specific keybinds, having specific skills, having specific abilities…and that’s all I know. What I chose has completely been erased from my mind. Instead of feeling excited to come back, it feels scary. All of these addons I collected, I don’t know how I had them, or what their configs were set to.

I don’t even know where the hell I am. .. Oh wait, I’m in Stormheim in Ravenspire. Oy. I need to find a Guild..somehow. Maybe they can somehow get me up to speed (at least how to setup my char). Also I wound up outside of a small castle. I’m seeing people that are.. Level 560?! How in the fuck?
I don’t know how to drag addons around. All of this is alien to me. Someone please help me before I lose my mind.

.
After much scratching of my head, I finally figured out how to move addon windows around (the Numpad Enter key. Also the Numpad keys control the five abilities on your hotbar). I also figured out how to move the world map around (holding the Left mouse button), and how to utilize my horse for faster travel. I also went all the way to Davon’s Watch of not knowing where I need to go to do this ‘A Friend in Need’ quest to what I was told is unlocking the ability of getting player housing.
Also, I found a Guild in hopes to help me re-learn how the game works. Unfortunately, it’s a Trading guild instead of a ‘help returning player out’ guild. Though, this guild might help me with getting higher gear (I’m Champ Level 150 on my Sorcerer).
They seem like a nice group. One of them even helped me do what I could had easily solo’d myself (if I remembered how I specced my char). The person also kind of helped me set my Champion points. The reason why I say ‘kind of’ is, this person didn’t know my class and spec that well (none of them did at that time.. I’m hoping this changes when I log in tomorrow). As a backup plan, I asked here on the forum if they could help me. I feel they were able to before.
I just gotta make sure I actually listen to their advice and do what they say, and not feel like “wow, that’s a lot to remember”. Though I fear they’re going to go down the road of “you’ll have to experiment on how you want your class to feel”.
Experimentation takes time, and I just wanna play the freakin’ game here!

I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. I don’t really have high hopes (mainly for the fact I don’t see anything I need to ‘shoot’ for). However, yesterday I was able to complete that quest..and got what feels like a storm shelter inside of an inn as a ‘house’. I also learned about player housing, it’s kind of like the way it is in Wildstar. You can either purchase, or build furniture for yourself. The Guildie I was with said you can also find it as drops from killing enemies. Though at first, she said they come from ‘battles’. I’m thinking “are you fucking serious.. PvP?!” Thankfully that’s not the case. She claims that she got a few wall pictures from helping in a Dolman (even though the main questline is complete, they still exist.. which kind of kills the immersion).
Don’t know how you make furniture. I tried it myself, and it claims I didn’t have anything to start with. I assume you just gather wood or something to make the basic furniture. When in a house, you can place furniture anywhere you want in the house by hitting F5. You can also teleport to your house for free, anywhere you are. Pretty cool.

Also, that whole “Level 560” thing, I didn’t realize this at first, but that was their Champion level (like myself) that you start acquiring after completing the main storyline.
And finally, I discovered what the Morrowind ‘expansion’ covers, and it’s just that large island that Red Mountain sits on. It isn’t all of the area. $40 for that? Pfft. This thing truly is a joke (and should had come with ESO+ for free). But I’m done beating that dead horse. No amount of bitching is going to reverse their decision (and I’ll probably never know the real reason they went with this dick move against their subscribers).
I’m just glad I can still play this game without a subscription (or being forced to get this thing). At least they’re kind with that.

I…okay. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place

Last night I finally got ESO fully downloaded while I’m going over all of my old ESO posts. I’m re-remembering what also annoyed me about this game. Yet I hope that after not playing for so long, maybe the game is better.

On the other side of the coin, I’ve been trying to get Saint to.. yep, you guessed it. Help me ‘beautify’ my deed. All and all, I’m better off asking the Wurm Forum than waiting for him. See, he gave me one plan, then said how I don’t need all this space. Though I had to go eat dinner before I could explain. Then when I came back, Saint went AFK all freakin’ evening and night. He claimed the next day (today) his wife was editing photos (she’s a professional photographer, and that’s pretty awesome). But seriously, Saint needs his own computer.
And also today, he’s semi-AFK watching a movie while making mortar, barely responding to me to the point he goes AFK again. Alright, Saint. Fine. I shall never bug you with these silly requests ever again. Again, I’ll just ask the Wurm Forum for help (as I did before).

Now, back to ESO. Here I was ready to play and check out the new content! Load the game up, and I see a ‘new’ climatic (though I believe it’s from the Imperial City DLC). And then I’m presented with a thing that claims that Morrowind is not active on my copy. Mmk, that’s fine I thought. I got ESO+, so I’ll just find the code somewhere. Looked at my member info, and I see no codes. Starting to get concerned, then I remembered the email they sent me back in May of this year. I go over my email and find it..but it’s for the Morrowind Closed Beta (also the key doesn’t work, claims it’s invalid).
I’m thinking maybe they did send me the code but maybe it got lost, so I tried asking in the forum. Get a response less than five minutes later…which shocks the FUCK out of me. “Morrowind isn’t included in ESO+. You need to buy separately a code for the expansion itself.”

Uhh. You.. you got to be kidding. There’s no way. You… wow. There’s just, so much “wow” in this, both frustrated and shocked. How…WHY?! WHY IN THE FUCK, ISN’T THIS INCLUDED IN THE $15/mo I GIVE THEM?!? That’s. just. SO much WRONG!! THEY WANT $40 ON TOP OF THE FUCKING $15?!?!
WHY?!?!?! They fucking PROMISED additional content would come with your ESO+ Subscription! They have NO RIGHT to label this as an expansion and make this an additional charge. Plus, you can’t even use Crowns to pay for it!
Did a quick Google search after being told there’s been debates “several months ago” about this, and there’s a post from January of this year which looks like a 50/50 split of people furious about this, and people calling the furious ‘entitled assholes who don’t see this is a major thing’. This thing costs $20 less than the game, and it’s roughly around the price of an EP from WoW. Yet when it came to WoW, we knew our subscriptions didn’t include getting the EPs. These guys lied to us.
Also, and this is just awesome, I read that this thing is only 40 hours long. That’s NOT an ‘expansion’! It’s screaming “SCAM” to me!

I’m not supporting this bullshit, and I feel like kicking myself in the ass for doing it since I left and not being informed of this.. months ago. Cancelling my subscription. Call me “entitled” all you want, but they have no right to go back on their promises. It’s a spit in my face. You don’t DO that to your customers!
I can see this game is going to be losing a lot of subscribers. Also I went over the ‘content’ of the ‘expansion’, and…there’s barely any there. THIS is 40 hours worth of content, an unnamed boss, having another class…and a fucking PvP Arena!? I think I’m better off waiting for Skywind(of when there’s ever a release date). At least it would be FREE (for owning Skyrim)!

.
So, no ESO afterall because of this. I wasted a night being all hyped up waiting for this thing to download, for nothing. Wow. See what I mean about being hyped, folks? See what I mean about it crushing your spirit?! I think what happened with WoD was actually a good thing, to not trust mainstream gaming.
This ‘expansion’..(aka an overpriced DLC that should had come with ones ESO+ subscription(yet they labeled it as an ‘expansion’ to circumvent their own promise)) is a joke. A $40 joke. Ohh, but that $40 is just the standard edition, folks! For $60 MORE (yes, that’s $100) comes with all of THIS!
Ahahah.. wow. Of course, this also comes with the base game. But..and this is the good part, it does NOT include the DLC’s! 😀 AWESOME BARGAIN, HUH?!

Fuck everything. 😛
Anyway, even though I no longer have a subscription, I can still play the game; it’s not required to pay for the expansion(thank the maker). There’s a way to say “no thank you” and it showed my two chars still there (as Level 50 each). So… I could still purchase the 4 DLCs with the just over 26k Crowns I have (but never buy Scamwind). Infact there is this ‘Guilds & Glory: The 4-DLC Mega Pack’ for 5,100 Crowns. This seems more fair as it wouldn’t cost me anything (financially). And.. even if I decided to reconsider and buy this thing, I couldn’t afford it this month.
There’s also this thing I see in the Crown Store of…player housing?! 😮 NOW we’re talking!!

However, thinking hard..without this expansion, I feel there hasn’t really been any major attempts of improving the endgame. I have asked in a few forum posts about this and some other subjects. I’m still waiting for the “has endgame been changed” one.
Ehh. I’m not really going to lose anything by joining, right? I’m not paying for the game anymore, and the DLCs are technically ‘free’ with how many Crowns I’ve been collecting. I really have nothing to lose.

Though, I also think I might revisit the two other MMORPGs I’ve played, Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar, and see if they’ve improved over the years (or have gone the ways of this video game company that I don’t see how they’re still in business).

Strongly thinking of going back to ESO

When the game you’ve been playing for awhile is starting to feel like it’s burning you out (aka Wurm), it’s time to seek another game. And that game is something I haven’t touched in.. wow. Just over two years?! Dude, I’ve been away for awhile. Yet… like the lazy dumbass that I am, I’m also paying the $15 ‘subscription’ since then (hell, I’m even still paying for my WoW subscription. 😛 ) Guess I just don’t want to go through all the hell and the “we miss you” crap.
And the game I tell you isn’t WoW, but the game in the title (which has been apparently renamed from ‘Tamriel Unlimited’ to ‘Morrowind’). I assume this ‘Morrowind’ thing is the first official expansion to ESO (yes there was also the others, but they were more like small DLCs). This seems to be the big one.

The reason I decided to come back is I was going over some old Wurm posts to get some info about something, and then somehow uncovered posts from January 2015 about this game. So yeah.. just over two years. Wow. I remember my reasoning for leaving, being I found the endgame content was boring (and the fact they removed the Veteran rank system after completing the single player storyline). I felt the rank system gave a purpose to the endgame, and with it gone.. there was no purpose.
But now with a supposed official expansion to the game, I’m curious to see what has happened since then. Infact, I’m excited to come back. I don’t think I’ve ever been excited to come back to a game since WoW (before the trainwreck that was WoD).
I’m pretty sure all of my chars will still be there, yet I don’t seem to remember who I had. I’m not sure if I retired my Dragonknight for a Sorcerer, or.. what characters I’ve made. It feels like it’s been ages.

With this supposed expansion, I assume this means the single player storyline continues after the defeat of Molag Bal. Looking at the login screen, it’s clear the picture has been changed to look quite sinister. There’s lava coming out of what appears to be cooled lava. Perhaps, another “TAMRIEL IS DOOM-ED!!!” final boss that’s even stronger than Molag? Trying to remember the super spoilers, it is possible. Hopefully it’s not a pushover like he was. Granted, I still remember being quite timid doing the encounter as a melee character (feeling I wasn’t ready and stuff). Or was that my Sorcerer? Going over my old blog posts would reveal, though.
Oh cool. Now I’m at 3% into downloading the game. Goodness, this is going to take awhile– possibly ’till tomorrow afternoon if I’m lucky, would I be able to check it out. Also I didn’t name the folder weirdly, so I shouldn’t have an issue with ‘granny2.dll missing’ as I did the first time I tried to run this game. At least….I pray not to. The fact I didn’t bother wiping out the old subfolders and files (hoping it would just overwrite them, or just not use them if they’re unused assets), might mess it up. Just have to see.

A resizing rant (that nearly made me delete the game)

This is a small rant that I have to get off my chest. Though I doubt this will even help. Now, it isn’t the fact I have to drop 8 dirt on every corner around every adjacent tile around the token (because of “You cannot found a settlement here. Too close to water.”), but it’s trying to figure out just how much left I got until I have to worry about deed upkeep falling below 30 days.
Now this hasn’t really been a problem in the past (and… mmmm, let me just explain the rest) as I always took the total number of days and -30 from it to get the total days ’till I gotta worry about it.

For example, the deed as it stands has 63 days. -30 from that and I have 33. By my calculations, it won’t be until August 28th when I’ll need to pay attention to it (which is pretty good). However, and I’m still confused of this (if this is even a problem or I’m making this look harder than it needs to be), but apparently I also have to work around Wurm’s 28 day cycle. If this means 28 RL days (which I assume it does.. I think?) then there should be no problem. It’s as simple as just counting 33 days from now, right? This is how I’ve always seen it, anyway.

So why do I feel like a raving lunatic ready to blow up in your face? The answer, is one part of my fucked up 10-year-old brain yearns that its 100% confirmed in its thinking, to let the other parts of my brain know everything is all sunshine and kittens.
Instead, it’s like poking an angered bear with a stick in a cage. Eventually it will break out and maul you to death (by making you feel like killing yourself for apparently not having the mental capacity for coming up with the answer on your own, because fuck them helping out a fellow human in need). And I’m still licking my wounds while also cursing at said bear. Yeah, it was just like that.. just, the cursing was done outside of the chat for obvious reasons(as the APCA (aka the CA’s) would mute me for cussing at the bear in public).
Came freakin’ close, though…

*sigh* Half of me feels this is my fault by not just saying to myself “you know what? I’m going to go with the way I went before and never had an issue with. What’s the worst that’ll happen?” But the other half is all.. “Must have answers! Will not rest until answers given(the way I want them to)!!” Having a second opinion is usually a good idea. Yet this ‘opinion’ is seeing if I’m right in my thinking. And they just can’t answer with a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. If Yes, then I simply move on with my life. If No, then I’m going to want to know the true way. Yet their answer is “you got a brain, figure it out yourself”.
Alright, you elitist assholes. I would had not even bothered asking said question IF I FUCKING KNEW THE ANSWER, NOW WOULD I!?” IT IS NOT THAT FUCKING HARD!!..of course they would say the same to me, but come ON, guys! Please see it from my perspective.

And now this damn thing is eating me up and I can’t focus on what I was trying to do, as my head is filled with such rage (yet also a feeling of unsure to make things worse). I’m trying to just ‘move on’ and ‘let it go’ so I can refocus. But just like that annoying thing of “Your mind keeps reverting back to the ‘unfinished structure here'” when trying to plan another building/bridge, it just won’t let go. I feel the only way my brain will relax is with a good night’s sleep (and asking Saint if he knows (and hoping he doesn’t do this “I dont have to worry about it lol” thing he does to me). He did it to me when it came to wishing I could pick exactly how much silver I want from the Wurm Shop (instead of defaulting to its set values). Why even have a stupid ‘Other’ option when the fucking thing is pointless??
Meh. As I said, I came close to smacking the fuck out of the Delete key on my keyboard on the Wurm Online folder (and then setting it on fire and watch it burn for all……. the hell it put me through over the years).

.
.
.
“So WHYYYYY.. DO I PUT UPPPP… DO I PUT UPPPP… DO I PUT UP WITH youuuu–uuuUUUuuuuUUUuuu?! …….. WHYYYYYYYYYY… DO I PUT UPPPP… DO I PUT UPPPP… DO I PUT UP WITH youuuu–uuuUUUuuuuUUUuuu?!” D:(
(Because I’m bored and have nothing else to do. lol)

.
EDIT: I asked Saint the next day, who (in his own way) was helpful in getting me the answers I seek. And what he told me is pretty much what I should’ve told myself, that the way I’ve been thinking is the correct way (aka, that the 29th of next month is the correct date). There’s also another factor, something they could’ve told me instead of being assholes. And that, is factoring in time zones. Wurm’s servers are in GMT, which makes the date a bit off than what it should be (by a few less days). In other words, now it’s the 26th instead of the 29th of when I need to worry about refunding the deed. I mean I can throw in two more months (to not have to worry until November), but I also want to have enough spending money at the same time.
And as for getting over being trolled (even by people of my server), that’s just how far I’m willing to hold a grudge. *sighs* And it’s really not worth it. It’s best to just forget about it.
Infact.. ‘[14:38:21] You have switched off kingdom chat. [14:38:21] You have switched off global kingdom chat.’ That will solve it.

Posted in PC | Comments Off on A resizing rant (that nearly made me delete the game)

It’s the 25th, and the snow is GONE! Time to get “inspired”

The reason why I put ‘inspired’ in quotes, is I’m pissed off at myself for not being happy with the current design of the deed (and it hasn’t even fucking been a month since I moved!), and then the constant back and forth fights with my emotions happen. And this is when I “hire a 3rd party” (aka Saint) in hopes of ending the stalemate of giving myself ideas.

With the snow finally gone (happened in the afternoon as expected), I immediately went right to Exo to check out ‘that cool place I saw’. Used the East exit as I had (and still do as I type this) a gale from the South). Turns out it was actually on the East side of the server (instead of the West). After many server transfers, I finally reoriented myself to be on the South side of the server, and then followed the coastline, and this was all during nighttime. Closing in on the NE coast, I feel I went too far North and pull up the Deli community map (and also going over my old blog posts of exploring Deli on horseback). Sure enough, I did. The deed I’m aiming for is called ‘Ixtlan’. With Sol rising, I finally reached this beautiful, spaced out (yet small) deed. It has not changed since I first saw it on horseback. The purpose of this visit is to just see how this place differs from mine, and to get some ideas on how to improve my deed’s layout.
And from my overall observations, it’s clear to me that this place has no need for a boat dock area (as the boats of this deed are pretty much parked on the sides of this creek thing). Also, unlike me, the person didn’t put their token in the middle of a basin (which again was inspired by Green Dog’s layout. More on this a bit later).
The person’s “house” is… uh…does this person even live here? It’s an empty 2×3 with a few crates. Wow. That’s sad.
The roads are what I had expected, a few tiles away from the creek (allowing for trees to grow). If they were grown naturally or not, I don’t know. Checked out the ‘infamous’ Boathouse (aka the Diner back home). Of course, one less door on the front.
I was able to enter it, and only saw a few more crates.
Seeing a recurring theme to the structure-naming here.. as in, the ‘Boathouse’ is the only thing that’s named. Everything else is “‘s whatever”(aka the default name given after finalizing a structure plan). This is what made it hard to tell if the deed owner had a storage building (or a place to do smithing and cooking).

I visited the upper level on the South side of the deed, and saw the owner’s animal pens. No cart storage nearby. No carts nor wagons. No bison. And the horse pen reminded me of OR’s past (before I gave my horses proper stalls). It’s also the person’s..farm. Well, I think it’s a farm. Every crop is growing Wheat. Perhaps the person loves making bread as their choice of food?
Also, the person has a pen that only has cows. No bulls. No chickens. No pigs.. just cows. One ingenious thing I noticed is the person is using trees to keep the grass from being packed. Nice! Speaking of pens, he has another one next to the shoreline for more horses. Can’t have enough animal pens, I guess.

I’ll be frank– this place feels more like a starter town than an actual deed. I mean..come ON! How can you not have a place to store carts?! Does this person..even -live- here as I said before? Is this place nothing but a ‘showcase deed’ (like something out of ‘Homearama’)? If so, I feel like I got kicked out by security when a troll shows up from nowhere. With no horse, I don’t dare to charge head first into battle against someone that can easily knock me senseless with that club. Attempting to dodge and outrun it nearly caused me to fuck up, but I was able to recover a few times before the first blow was struck on my squishy head.

As much as I want to say “ok, I got what I want, I want to copy everything over to my place”..I can’t do that, and that’s frustrating. Fuck my morals sometimes.
Clearly, the biggest problem back home is that boat dock area. I thought it was going to be a good idea, but now it’s no longer the case. I need to come up with a better idea, and I’ll try to think of one the best I can (which usually means I’ll give up trying to think of one and harass the hell out of Saint to do it for me. 😛 )
The other problem is the Diner (stated in my three week post). I can’t just turn this into the same purpose as the one here, as that is completely copying the idea without doing any additions. I could just simply get rid of it, then scale down the Grinding Floor and turn it into the ‘DTH Smithing/Diner’ building. That will definitely solve the issue with fuel (but I’ll lose that cool little shack idea). Gotta think of something.

Anyway, now it’s off to Green Dog (as I stated before, it’s where I got the idea of having the token the way I have it. Though I had to go as it was close to dinner.
Coming back later on (having to wait offline staring at WurmClock for Sol to rise again), I was faced with a small dilemma knowing that GD can only be entered (and exited) via boat through the North side of the server, and an alternate idea was to snag a horse and then ride it down there. Eventually I decided to go with just sailing down (as I would have less mobs to deal with when on water, and it’s a more direct route).
Halfway there, I decided to visit the spot that inspired me of the Grinding Floor idea (which I’m still not really a fan of, as I feel it’s taking way too much empty space for its size). The undeeded ‘deed’ is still there. The only difference from three months is some of the roof tiles have decayed. Shockingly, all of the walls are still intact (probably have high QL). The Smithy is still as I remember it. Quite nice. Then it was off to GD.
Made it there, and to the center. It seems I..pictured the center differently than I thought. The token isn’t sitting on a single tile, but in a 3×3 area connected by two stone bridges (and two stone buildings on its North and South sides). Unfortunately (possibly without expanding the deed size) I cannot do anything about this. It’s not possible to relocate a token (unless you disband and re-deed). I’m not doing this unless I’m absolutely SURE I know where I’m going to put it.

Ran around GD, desperately trying to get more “please make my deed look ‘cool’!” ideas. Sol’s on its downward ark and I’m getting bored. Time to go back home, and think of what I’m going to do (if anything) with the deed. Went back up North through the canals. But instead of continuing to go all the way, I stopped a few places in the canal to check out these unique underground structures (that I never did before). One had a pretty sizable cave system, having multiple wings and levels. The other, ended with a NOPE of a troll showing up as I was about to turn the corner.
Finally I was in the Northern sea, and got back home with no problems. So now, it’s time to think. As said before, I cannot completely hand-copy that person’s deed (as that’s wrong). Plus, it would be impossible with the amount of dirt I would need to raise the terrain in places (to simulate the higher points of the person’s deed.
No, I need my own ideas. I need to get in DP and really play around in it. The option to expand the deed in all directions (but East) is still on the table, but I’m sure it’s going to cost up to 5s to do so (and I won’t be able to get it back if that’s -not- what I wanted to do). It won’t be as expensive of a gamble as before, but I got to know if I really want it.

I also discovered if I wanted to put in the effort, I could build my own guard tower to the NW side of the deed (anywhere on or past the backroad, which would be out of range of the one to the ESE).

Dragontail Hideaway – Three weeks since I moved from Inde

Wow. Three weeks already. Guess it’s a good time as ever to go over what I’ve felt since the move from my ancient past. And all I can say is.. “ehh”. ‘Ehh’ to what I feel from moving away from Inde. ‘Ehh’ to what I feel about the new deed as it stands.
Bet you folks expected a more cheerful response out of me. But really, I don’t feel the need.

Why? Because this move isn’t going to change who I am in this game. To think, it would make me more active. To think…I would actually stop being lazy (and stop bitching at Wogic) and start grinding. You guys know it’s a joke. However I’ve been able to do things I’ve never done before (which is kill not one but two fog spiders on foot).
The only reason I moved, was the area is flat and I feel like I can work with it. And as for the overall layout of the deed… I dunno. It feels like something is missing, and I can’t put my finger on it. And it possibly isn’t going to be until the 25th when I might be able to ‘find’ it (in Exo).. aka, when everything isn’t white anymore.
(I hate Wurm Winter 😛 )

Okay.. so I lied. I do know what’s bugging me about the deed. It didn’t bug me at first, but now I’m starting to feel the deed’s layout is.. too ‘restrictive’. It feels like something thought of at the last second.
I feel the placement of the Diner, my house, and the Cart Storage are the three main factors of this. Let’s go over each one.
First, the Diner. This upsets me of how it’s a problem. The placement of it, I wanted so bad since I saw the one that inspired me to build it in Exodus. But the fact the Grinding Floor and the Diner are in two separate locations, I have to go out of my way to gather the fuel (and make a kindling) for the oven for B2 to make a Breakfast. I don’t know of any other deeds that have this issue, because usually their Cookery and Smithing buildings are close to eachother (for this reason alone).

Second, my house. I wanted my house to be infront of the ‘canal’ thing, yet this also blocks quick access to the other parts of the deed (having to go around the basin and through the Boathouse). The fact the boat dock area is nearby, that’s just an extra trip to get to the Diner (to drop off Meat after killing a few mobs roaming the forest to the West). I don’t exactly know how to correct this problem.
Also, I don’t like how my view of the lake is blocked by three bridges. And the house design itself… God, do I miss those views of living in OR. It gave a purpose of having a balcony to watch Sol rise.

And 3rd, the Cart Garage. The location was ‘forced’ upon me due to myself not liking the shape and style of the horse/bison pens. When it came to building it, it just looked..dated and ugly (even though it was also quite functional). This thing was supposed to be near the horse pens, and instead winds up on the other side of the deed (as I had no other place to put it). And I still don’t.

There’s definitely a balance that has to be done between ‘coolness’ and ‘functionality’. And I went with ‘coolness’ instead..and now I’m paying for it with everything looking..off. I really need someone other than Saint to help give me ideas (yet I’ll probably end up throwing them out because they won’t be what I want). Guess I could warn whoever decides to assist, that I’m “quite picky”.

And as for hoping of being more, well.. ‘popular’ on Cele (of no longer seeing a ‘fake dragon’ being better than me at everything), I feel that it’s pretty much been the same as it was on Inde..if not worse since the Rift. To feel I could be popular by ‘just being myself’..is a joke. Being ‘myself’ is bitching at the devs for every little itty bitty thing that gets under my skin (which is nearly everything about Wurm) and not wanting to do effort in grinding my skills up. I expect to be popular on trying to be witty, or funny…only for that to eventually blow up in my face a few times for saying the wrong things (and feeling like I’m being treated like a child).
Not sure what else to add here, that I haven’t repeated multiple times in hopes I can have a ‘pitty party’ with people. Fuck my RP sometimes. I wish it would grow up already.

As for any future redesigning, I’m mainly waiting ’till the afternoon of the 25th (when the snow goes away and I can actually SEE the roads). I am strongly considering expanding the deed to the maximum size I can go(29×29), and see what I can do. I want to try to ‘space out’ the deed’s layout. Maybe by then, it won’t feel as restrictive. However by doing so, I would have to rebuild and reroute the ‘Dragontail Bypass’ route (a road around the deed) to support this. I’m also thinking of putting my house on one of those hills to the West of the deed. Luckily I haven’t taken them fully down yet, and I’m sure I would get a much better view of the deed from there.
Again, stay tuned to see what I do with the place. I might make about 17 large crates and sell Clay or Sand (for 5s) to cover the cost of expanding the deed.
I also am trying to work on a road behind my house that will link to a mine to the West of here (and trying to make it look cool by having trees in the middle). However, it’s not as easy as I thought. The terrain is too uneven (and looks like it’s very gradually sloping up in the distance) to really get an idea of what to set the elevation.
Plus, the mine is actually WNW of me, and I got to figure out how I’m going to snake it through this forest of unseen death to get it there. Though, I also feel like I should try to start my own mine (hopefully closer to the deed). But with the rock layer in the area so low around here, I just don’t see it.

.
One last thing I want to say (this one has nothing to do with the deed, but is still Wurm-related). The next Rift event on Cele happens before August(the beam comes down on the 29th and the event starts on the 31st(at 12:58am), according to Niarja), and (weather, computer, and internet connection permitting) I’m going to attend it. This time, I’ll be prepared. I’ll have all the tools I need to assist the setup stage. Plus, now I know how the fights go (and what to do). So I’m no longer scared of the Rift. The horror stores I heard, are a myth.
Though maybe I got lucky, not having my horse die. I think I’m going to bring a backup horse (believe I have another saddle I can use to keep it from running away while not hitched) incase it does happen (if the vens live long enough ’till it’s go time).

Using horses cross-server might be a thing / Best. bug. EVER!

Alright, for the first thing, I’ve been hearing a few rumors that the devs are actually starting to FINALLY consider the possibility of taking your horse cross-server with you!!
I was confirmed of this sweet news before the Rift event started. Something about livestock cages and being able to load them. Now, there was a forum post about it, but I can’t seem to find it. But WOW is this fantastic news! Still, I wonder how Branding is going to work. I discussed this before with you guys, and how I felt it should say “(Horse) has been branded by and belongs to the settlement of (deed) on (server).”
Branded horses should come with a Nametag or some sorts to show this, and I feel this can either be purchased from another player/merchant, or crafted. Also, the QL has to be a certain level to allow a horse to cross servers with you (like 50). And it would decay as normal (simulated wear damage).

.
Moving on to the other point of this post, has to be the best bug I’ve ever encountered. I absolutely LOVED this bug (because of how much I hate Winter) and it really took me by surprise. I’m coming back from a delivery of 5k Dirt to Deli (trying to get my 5s back.. just something to erase the memories of the money I wasted on my past deed), got 4.5s instead due to this assaholic thing that caused the value of Dirt to drop to 80c per 1k. Well, 4.5s is definitely nothing to cry over. I will definitely accept it. 🙂

Came back to Cele no problem, and I noticed something very..strange. I saw green on pretty much every landmass around me, yet the trees in the distance were still covered in snow. As I got closer to Kami Canal, I noticed..several guard towers IN the ocean. Wtf? Where did these come from? Surely someone didn’t build all of these when I was gone.
Arriving at the canal, and….HOLY FUCK! The snow on the ground IS GONE! It’s like Fall AND Winter at the same time!! On top of that, trees I get close to change to their Fall textures. HOT DAMN! YES! BEST BUG EVER!!! 😀
I asked if this thing was even a bug at all in Global Kchat, and was told yes. How it’s a bug that happens when crossing servers. That’s strange, as I didn’t see this bug on Exo (the server I had to use to get to Deli’s East side to make the delivery). They also tell me about the towers I saw are also showing up from another server, and they can show up ‘in the ocean’.
This is freakin’ awesome, and it happened all the way back home. Finally I could see what I was doing with the bypass road without the snow blinding my view. This is what the transition into Winter should had been, instead of ‘suddenly, Winter’.

Sadly, the bug resetted itself after I had to leave for dinner, and it was snow-covered again. Meh. Anyway, just two more days until Wurm Spring (aka the 25th), and the snow will be gone (and I can see the damn ground again). 🙂

Dragonhead does his first Rift event, but with a cost

How to start off this mess in words? Dunno, but here’s some filler words until I can think of a good, depression-free intro.
*ERROR 404: Depression-free blog post intro not found in brain*

Well damn. Thought good and hard too, but I just can’t think of anything. Might as well get this started since I feel these are enough filler words. For those not in the know, a ‘Rift’ is an event that’s been happening longer since I’ve been away from Wurm. Powerful enemies come from this central beam, requiring a group to take out. There are three waves, each lasting about 20 or so minutes (depending on the strength of the group).
Loot is automatically awarded to all participants after enough rift hearts have been burned in the altar (at the end of the 3rd wave). The loot varies, but everyone gets two things that can be used to make runes for people.

How I got involved in this, was the day before yesterday (the day after seeing Saint in Xan). The red beam of doom is active again to my NW. The last time, I still had buildings that needed to be built. This time, I was finishing up with paving a new road wrapping around my deed (to serve as a bypass route for locals and visitors).
I decided to ask what gear I need and stuff like that, and… I really wish I didn’t. I was told to bring “a ton” of cotton as I would likely need it. Plus one asked if I had steel armor, when my highest is plate.
Began to have second thoughts; felt I’m not ready for this (especially as local Kchat continued on). “the timid stay home” | “you can do it Dragonhead” | “youll be fine”…. someone please shoot me for this embarrassment. Just end it. I don’t deserve to be called a ‘dragon’. 😛
A true Dragon Warrior would jump at the chance to prove themself. A true Dragon Warrior would have no fear of death (in a video game)…so why do I call myself one?

Childish side: “Oh man, dragons are so cool! I wanna be like one! FIGHT like one!! :D”
Common sense: “…Just no. You’re a coward. You’re scared of dying in a video game.”

Damnit, did I go into one of my moods again? Sorry. I eventually decided to to it. And yesterday, would be the day. By the way, it’s also Wurm Winter, which makes navigation tricky (as roads mask with the ground as everything’s white). Yet Wurm Winter also allows snowball collection (which Larders need to keep their interiors from not decaying as fast).
Oh yeah. Forgot to state when I logged in, I killed two fog spiders (solo’d). They aren’t as hard as I thought, but do they poison you a lot. Luckily I can LT the poison away with a few kills here and there. I also killed (with assist by a guard tower) a champ black bear. One of the locals even made a rug for me (for free) out of the fur I got from it.
Decided to head out about 8:40pm, to give me a few hours to get to the rift site. I tried to store cotton in a small barrel, and I can only get 5kg in it. I thought “yep, that’s it. I’m not doing this. I told them I have low Body Strength.” I felt there was just no way I would be able to carry ‘a ton’ of cotton, plus plate gear, and still be able to move quickly (if the horse dies on me while riding it).
Tried to composite, by dropping everything non-essential at home (to get as much speed as possible). This also including dropping my flint and steel (didn’t realize it until I was at the site and Sol was going down).

Started going there, as expected, I got lost a lot not knowing where the roads are. Somehow I was able to get on the main roads and made my way around Deadnoob Bay to the rift site.
Upon arriving, I saw a few tents. Thought.. this is it. I’m doing this. Let’s set up camp.. and pray I never have to use it. There were a few people here, clearing trees. I asked if this was the spot, and one said yes, then to “grab your hatchet and start clearing trees”.. ‘ah fuck’ I thought, having to tell them that I left all my tools at home. The person then asks me if I wanna barrow his saw to make planks.
I feel like “..why are we doing this? Aren’t we supposed to be getting set up for the Rift?” This is ‘setting up’, actually. Clearing trees, and making planks for a safehouse. I didn’t want any part of this, because…you know, I hate work? 😛

However, I was put to work anyway. Decided to just go with it, feeling that hey..I’m actually contributing to this thing. I then realized I also didn’t bring any form of device to fill my water bar back up (called a water skin). Yay.. more embarrassment!
The person said that a ‘measured jug’ is better than a water skin, as it holds 10kg. I’ll have to pass on that (until I ever get my Body Strength to 30). It’ll just weigh me down.
More people started to join the site as time went on, with some in kchat asking for the continents to the Rift. I got bored after making 150 planks, wondering if we had enough to complete the safehouse already. The person to build the house asked if I could help..left my hammer back home too! :/

Finally the building was completed as the rest joined. While they’re chatting like “ehh, Rift? There’s no Rift here. Let’s talk like it’s a normal evening!” while I’m trying not to chicken out. I had to ask them a few questions, such as how the fight goes and if we go after specific targets. See, I’m still using what I’ve learned in WoW. And just like WoW, I felt I was ‘the weakest link’ with my Plate gear barely at 70QL(with some pieces dropping into the 60’s). Yet they told me to just not solo any mobs (just like dealing with a troll pretty much, and getting guards on it). And as for going after specific mobs, the answer was no.

Finally, the time hit for the Rift to start, yet it didn’t start until about 11:17pm. The ground changed, turning almost everything to dirt (and placing these strange trees). Soon the mobs showed up. I expected to see a fuckton of mobs around the beam. Instead they were spread out, having to be pulled by a few people over to the group to be killed. I tried my best to assist, and got a few final blow kills. Yet most of the time, it was me running to the safehouse with mobs chasing me. I kept hoping the others would assist in pulling them off me.. but again, this isn’t WoW. There’s no Mages that can throw a fireball at a mob to pull it off me (or a pet that will help tank it so I can get away).
The mobs themselves, look like a race of dog people. It reminded me of that one-time event that happened in WoW where those tall constructs were attacking the lands of Azeroth. They had a slight Egyptian look to them, and to me looked out of place of what this Rift should be. I expected to see really scary-looking monsters of doom (like the Burning Legion).

Waves 2 and 3 had Ogres in them. Really tall guys that make a troll the strength of a wolf (and they cause a damage I’ve never seen.. internal organ damage that cannot be healed without Life Transfer). Nasty shit.
Finally, the Rift is done! Good thing too, as I really had to use the bathroom. When I came back, I noticed the rift was gone (and the talking pretty much stopped). All I could feel was shame. Shame of how this entire thing started, and shame of expecting people to give a fuck it’s my first time. All of them acted like “this is trivial.”
So yeah. First Rift. I survived.. yet my pride is now on life support in the hospital.
“Oh FUCK! No! I don’t want to die!” kept getting in the way instead of continuing the fight (unlike a true Dragon Warrior). I personally felt it was a bad run, because I had to constantly run away like a pussy instead of helping everyone. I even got criticized of this (in a way).

As for the loot I got (that popped up in my inventory), I got a shoulderpad, a Syril lump (that’s only .25kg.. LAME). Rift wood, and a Rift crystal (which can be turned into runes..with the right skill). Hopefully I can sell most of this crap. And as for ever coming back? Let’s say I have not decided. I have to…’rethink’ my life first. 😛
If I do decide to come back, I will come more prepared. Bring my hatchet/hammer/saw/steel & flint, and water skin with me. Then I can properly help with the setup stage of the Rift (and not feel like a n00b).

“Clean up your stuff please” / New mailbox, old memories / Saint’s second life in Xanadu

Yesterday and today have been quite busy. Let’s just go over each one in order;

“Clean up your stuff please”
Been trying to drag Saint’s ass and get everything he made out of the temp pen (so I could build the farm properly). Also, Saint’s been hanging out in Xanadu for a few days. I’ve asked him if he’s exploring or something, and he’s refusing to tell me (or it could be because I may’ve been asking the wrong questions).
He said he would come sometime that day, and I continued with my list of things to do around the deed. BTW, the deed is pretty much complete. I’m just doing the required

New mailbox, old memories
Another thing is I told Saint how I really appreciate the mailbox he made for me (and had it enchanted). However, I didn’t like how he never told me if I wanted a spirit tower (which I don’t). Yet he acted like he didn’t care. And so I bashed the old one down, and made my first mailbox (a spirit cottage). I would’ve built one of the wooden ones, but the picture on the wiki just made them too ugly to even be worth building (at least the spirit cottage looks like a 1×1 stone building). I also got someone to come from Exo in order to get it working. They got the mailbox to be at 98 Courier (which will receive mail within three minutes). The person wanted to get it to 101 (which he claims would be instant).
He also stated that he somehow remembers my name from somewhere, and started asking me a few questions. It was soon discovered…this person is the alt of the guy who I….paid 8s to remove those three Clay tiles(thinking I would be kicking over the docks). Fuck me, how the past comes back to haunt me. Thankfully I was able to change the discussion back to the mailbox (of how he kept failing to get it past 98). He eventually gave up. Tried to discuss payment, and he said that it’s not required. I felt bad, and gave him half a silver for coming out here.

(To continue from the first topic…)
Saint came about five minutes after the guy left, and got everything I asked him to..without a word. Yes, I feel like a bad friend..no, I KNOW I’m a bad friend. But this is why I live alone (like a hermit). But Saint’s over 100 unfinished forges are in the way, and I was still pissed off as he promised that I could rely on him (and he’s letting me down).
And after that, he sailed away.. yet not without removing himself as a citizen of my deed. That was the nail on the coffin for me. I just didn’t feel like doing anything after that. Saint clearly didn’t want to be there, nor did he even say “good job with the place!” That right there made me feel emotionally drained.
So I went back to playing Slime Rancher instead.

Saint’s second life in Xanadu
Today, most of the day went to watching this one guy play the early versions of Slime Rancher. I also wrote that touching blog post about how I felt wrong about my review of the game (and how I feel it ‘requires’ a backstory). Decided to hop into Wurm after I got back from dinner, and then asked Saint about this thing he said he could make for me (aka a Larder). Wurm Winter is coming fast, and I need to get a Larder by the time the ground is covered in snow (to collect snowballs which serve to keep a Larder’s interior cool for long-term storage of food (such as the Breakfasts B2 has been making for me)).
I also need to get the farm going (which I keep being lazy and not wanting to do because farming is BORING in this game).

Saint says he has one ready to go, and all I have to do is get to Xanadu and pick it up. Since what happened with that unfortunate incident of being stuck inside the server border in Pristine, I wondered if it was worth risking it. But the need of a Larder forced me to reconsider (plus, he says no charge). I was to pick it up ‘close to Summerholt’ on the map. After a bit of discussion to narrow down the exact location, I got a picture (that wasn’t exactly that helpful).
And so I left the deed, going North towards the Kami Canal (getting a breeze from the South also helped).
I prayed the login system would allow me to pass through and get to Deli (and then to Xan’s East side). And..it worked! No issues going there, or even going back home. It seems what happened was clearly a very rare event (that the devs have yet to pin down).
In Xan (similar to Pristine), I’m trying to find the correct way in.. and end up going too far North and have to turn around, feeling what I saw when I popped in was correct (and it was). And just like before, Sol is going down by the time I correct the error (and I’m traveling in the dark). And once again, just like Pristine, I’m going by the ingame world map, which only shows the land.
I enter this bay and cross under a few bridges (one named “Dragon’s Spine” which is pretty cool. Though the bridge itself was a standard stone arch bridge going across the bay).
Getting a bit lost here, trying to go by the picture Saint gave me and cross-referencing it with the world map. With Sol down, I couldn’t really make out where I was. I was forced to ask Saint if he can triangulate my position to get my bearings. He couldn’t help me as he “hasn’t had a chance to explore”, but said to keep going North. Did this, and he tells me later to look for an area with a lot of bridges, and “make sure there marble and slate”. I saw a very interesting area on my left that somewhat matched the description of what he’s telling me, took a picture and sent it to him, and he said yes, mentioned the center bridge (which has a cave canal).
I asked if I’m supposed to go through, and he said yes. And when I attempted to..oh GOD the micro-freezing! It was 10x worse than the sermon near me back home! GAH!!
Thankfully it went away enough to allow passage. And the inside of this canal, is unlike anything I’ve seen in Wurm. Typically, cave canals have lamps lighting the way. This thing, has braziers. It’s very wide, high, and has an alternate route going North. Saint said this leads to an underground marina. Wow.. I’m getting Deli vibes.
I met him on the other side of the canal, and he gave me a Larder. I..decided to ask him for another (as he told me I can have one in my boat). I told him I would pay him, but he just gave me it without question. I assume he’s tired of me saying I would ‘pay’ him, thinking I still owe him bricks.

I couldn’t drag them into my boat; was forced to carry them with me. Since it was night, I asked if I could spend the night checking out this strange place he lives in (and if he abandoned all the work in Release he did for his deed). I also finally asked him the right questions, asking if he’s helping out a friend (or the community). All he could say is “i like it here”. Says his current place is still here, and “this is something new”.
Started exploring this deed, and just like the canal I went through to get here, this friends..is a mega-deed. Yet it’s also a very special mega-deed. How special? Its similarities are of the MRT Server, of someone setting up plots in their city and asking if anyone would like to build in them. This.. is that. This mega-deed is sectioned into different plots, on different levels (it’s on a hill). It’s also.. wow. This felt like Inde’s prosperous past. The tiered levels. The dense forests. The fences. The areas to sit and relax and watch the trees sway.. DAMN this place is AWESOME(despite the micro-freezing)!! I can definitely see why Saint chose to start a second life here. It definitely feels like a community deed; nothing like anything I’ve seen in Wurm (over the years since I’ve played).
As I explored, and as I said I felt more misrofreezing, and happily explained my distaste of being in Xanadu. He says he spent $1,350. If that’s on a new computer (which I assume would be) or PC parts, I never bothered asking (though I would never do something like that).
I tried my best to just ignore my CPU screaming for mercy, as I continued to explore.

Decided to ask Saint where his plot was, starting to get a bit annoyed that a turtle could walk faster than me(with two Larders in my hands). He said to meet him where I first met him (which was back at my boat). And so I made the (very) slow trek back and finally got there. He showed up in the same wagon that I saw him with in Release, and I was able to hitch a ride for faster transportation, still utterly BLOWN AWAY with how beautiful this place feels.
He took me to his plot. I found myself on the other side of a fence when he parked his wagon. Luckily the Disembark helped to put me on the right side. It’s a pretty cool place, a small castle. He sent me a pic to what his ultimate build will look like. I’m not sure if the deed owner would allow this (as it looks huge), but whatever.. it won’t be me that’s in the frying pan. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing through.

With Sol now starting to rise, I decided it was time to head back home and I slowly made my way back to my boat. I didn’t bother asking him if he could give me a ride back, as I knew how busy he would be. Plus, a self-walk back to my boat really got me to soak up just how unbelievably pretty this place is (and how it puts mine to shame..). But I tried reminding myself, that once the trees naturally re-grow around my deed (which could take up to several RL months), my place will have that “omg.. I want to LIVE HERE!” feel as I first discovered it. I just wish they grew faster. 😛
I mean, I could help it out by randomly planting trees here and there, but the coverage won’t look natural.
Back in Xan (sorry I got distracted there. It happens) I’m heading back towards the way I came. But as I’m passing under “Dragon’s Spine”, I decide to turn around and check out Summerholt (you know, since I’m out here). I also decided to find and pull up the Xanadu community map, which reveals a surprise… if I had just continued through the canal instead of turned around, I would had been at Summerholt. 😛
I also saw there’s a way back out to the ocean through the NE, and I selected that to be where I would go to head back home.
Halfway to the canal, I stopped short and on a shoreline away from any deeds, thinking I can just drop the Larders and then load them into my boat (so I can move quick again). At the time, the area looked hostile-free. But as soon as I hopped out of my boat, a mountain lion and a ven anaconda attacked me. Geared up and finished both of them off with some damage (but nothing that required me to cotton or LT it away).
With them both dead, I butchered/buried and took their goodies, and threw them in my boat, then finally loaded both Larders. Yay! Now I can move 17km/h again (instead of 4km/h)!
Hopped back in (didn’t even bother mooring) and continued up to reach the canal.

Made it to Summerholt, one of the many starter towns in Xan(due it being 4x bigger than Inde). It looked the size of FM in Inde, and even had a display of every boat in the game. Claimed it has two markets, which is unusual. The one to the North seemed.. dead (there was a single Trader (without a stall) and that was it). The main market was to the East, which.. well, in terms of the number of active traders, is FM-sized (the size itself I feel is bigger than Tap Dance Market, but smaller than FM).
I’m looking for a better stone chisel, one that can help me grind stone-cutting better (for any future jobs(such as having the itch of redesigning the deed)). Sadly, nothing here.
Sol is starting to go down again (due to my own stupidity that I could had been here a LOT sooner.. but really I wasn’t in a hurry). Made my way back to the boat, and I felt it was finally time to go home. Back through the canal, and then head North through another.
Nearly out of the canal’s East, and my CPU finally said “NO!! FUCK YOU! I HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT!!” and perma-freezed Wurm. And here I had just said “you know, Xanadu isn’t -that- bad. Infact I want to explore this place!”

Trying to come back online, and Wurm’s getting possibly the most ironic (and hilarious) update I’ve ever seen..fixing studdering issues (by fixing a few memory leaks). However, since then, it feels like the microstuddering has gotten worse. Still, I try my best to ignore it (because ignoring is all I can do until I get enough to fix this with new hardware).
Passing another bridge on my way to a North canal, I see a large market to my left. Decide to stop and check this place out. One of these traders actually has what I’m looking for; a 54 BoTD chisel for only 65c. Checked all the other ones to see if they had any better deals, but eventually I went with this one. To have the combined enchants of WoA and CoC as one enchant? Yes please. Now I can’t wait ’till the Impalong, so I can throw it in one of the coffins on the top floor and get it enchanted further. Though I had to ask if this could even be enchanted on the Freedom isles (or if it’s a Chaos-only thing). Should have no problem (in theory). But we’ll see what happens when December comes.

And with that (and in the dark once again) it was finally time to head home. Made my way through another one of these interesting cave canals. On the other side (and above me) was an army of charcoal piles lighting the night (with even more near it). Probably someone grinding the charcoal-making skill. And soon I was finally back on the ocean, heading north (still night). Decided to head East around the landmass there and head to Deli. I really wanted to check out Tap Dance Market back on Cele before heading home. But I decided to just head North instead.
Almost to the point of the server border, I saw another Valrei item. Debated on grabbing it, but decided against it as no one cares for them anymore (they’re too common now to be worth the 20c asking price).

Made it to Deli and Cele with no issues! I’m not lowering my guard, though. Going to try to avoid server crossing as much as possible (only for if I absolutely have to(such as getting those Larders)). I may have to go back to Deli in order to pick up some Camilla sprouts at Southport to complete the garden idea behind the Boathouse. Then again, I could just have them COD them to me (since I got a much better mailbox). Yet that would also cost way too much as every item (even in a container) is 1c.. ouch. That shit can add up into silver (since I need a LOT of sprouts).
Made it back home as Sol rose. Man, I hope the trees re-grow quickly. This place looks UGLY compared to that place. Still a bit teed off Saint cleared them out.. but it was the only real way to map out the place properly.

And so, it’s time to wrap up this post. Tomorrow I need to continue doing everything on my list to finally 100% complete the deed, and then do my own thing (like exploring). And as for Tap Dance, I can easily go there on horseback. It isn’t that far from my deed.
