Dragontail Hideaway – Three weeks since I moved from Inde

Wow. Three weeks already. Guess it’s a good time as ever to go over what I’ve felt since the move from my ancient past. And all I can say is.. “ehh”. ‘Ehh’ to what I feel from moving away from Inde. ‘Ehh’ to what I feel about the new deed as it stands.
Bet you folks expected a more cheerful response out of me. But really, I don’t feel the need.

Why? Because this move isn’t going to change who I am in this game. To think, it would make me more active. To think…I would actually stop being lazy (and stop bitching at Wogic) and start grinding. You guys know it’s a joke. However I’ve been able to do things I’ve never done before (which is kill not one but two fog spiders on foot).
The only reason I moved, was the area is flat and I feel like I can work with it. And as for the overall layout of the deed… I dunno. It feels like something is missing, and I can’t put my finger on it. And it possibly isn’t going to be until the 25th when I might be able to ‘find’ it (in Exo).. aka, when everything isn’t white anymore.
(I hate Wurm Winter 😛 )

Okay.. so I lied. I do know what’s bugging me about the deed. It didn’t bug me at first, but now I’m starting to feel the deed’s layout is.. too ‘restrictive’. It feels like something thought of at the last second.
I feel the placement of the Diner, my house, and the Cart Storage are the three main factors of this. Let’s go over each one.
First, the Diner. This upsets me of how it’s a problem. The placement of it, I wanted so bad since I saw the one that inspired me to build it in Exodus. But the fact the Grinding Floor and the Diner are in two separate locations, I have to go out of my way to gather the fuel (and make a kindling) for the oven for B2 to make a Breakfast. I don’t know of any other deeds that have this issue, because usually their Cookery and Smithing buildings are close to eachother (for this reason alone).

Second, my house. I wanted my house to be infront of the ‘canal’ thing, yet this also blocks quick access to the other parts of the deed (having to go around the basin and through the Boathouse). The fact the boat dock area is nearby, that’s just an extra trip to get to the Diner (to drop off Meat after killing a few mobs roaming the forest to the West). I don’t exactly know how to correct this problem.
Also, I don’t like how my view of the lake is blocked by three bridges. And the house design itself… God, do I miss those views of living in OR. It gave a purpose of having a balcony to watch Sol rise.

And 3rd, the Cart Garage. The location was ‘forced’ upon me due to myself not liking the shape and style of the horse/bison pens. When it came to building it, it just looked..dated and ugly (even though it was also quite functional). This thing was supposed to be near the horse pens, and instead winds up on the other side of the deed (as I had no other place to put it). And I still don’t.

There’s definitely a balance that has to be done between ‘coolness’ and ‘functionality’. And I went with ‘coolness’ instead..and now I’m paying for it with everything looking..off. I really need someone other than Saint to help give me ideas (yet I’ll probably end up throwing them out because they won’t be what I want). Guess I could warn whoever decides to assist, that I’m “quite picky”.

And as for hoping of being more, well.. ‘popular’ on Cele (of no longer seeing a ‘fake dragon’ being better than me at everything), I feel that it’s pretty much been the same as it was on Inde..if not worse since the Rift. To feel I could be popular by ‘just being myself’..is a joke. Being ‘myself’ is bitching at the devs for every little itty bitty thing that gets under my skin (which is nearly everything about Wurm) and not wanting to do effort in grinding my skills up. I expect to be popular on trying to be witty, or funny…only for that to eventually blow up in my face a few times for saying the wrong things (and feeling like I’m being treated like a child).
Not sure what else to add here, that I haven’t repeated multiple times in hopes I can have a ‘pitty party’ with people. Fuck my RP sometimes. I wish it would grow up already.

As for any future redesigning, I’m mainly waiting ’till the afternoon of the 25th (when the snow goes away and I can actually SEE the roads). I am strongly considering expanding the deed to the maximum size I can go(29×29), and see what I can do. I want to try to ‘space out’ the deed’s layout. Maybe by then, it won’t feel as restrictive. However by doing so, I would have to rebuild and reroute the ‘Dragontail Bypass’ route (a road around the deed) to support this. I’m also thinking of putting my house on one of those hills to the West of the deed. Luckily I haven’t taken them fully down yet, and I’m sure I would get a much better view of the deed from there.
Again, stay tuned to see what I do with the place. I might make about 17 large crates and sell Clay or Sand (for 5s) to cover the cost of expanding the deed.
I also am trying to work on a road behind my house that will link to a mine to the West of here (and trying to make it look cool by having trees in the middle). However, it’s not as easy as I thought. The terrain is too uneven (and looks like it’s very gradually sloping up in the distance) to really get an idea of what to set the elevation.
Plus, the mine is actually WNW of me, and I got to figure out how I’m going to snake it through this forest of unseen death to get it there. Though, I also feel like I should try to start my own mine (hopefully closer to the deed). But with the rock layer in the area so low around here, I just don’t see it.

.
One last thing I want to say (this one has nothing to do with the deed, but is still Wurm-related). The next Rift event on Cele happens before August(the beam comes down on the 29th and the event starts on the 31st(at 12:58am), according to Niarja), and (weather, computer, and internet connection permitting) I’m going to attend it. This time, I’ll be prepared. I’ll have all the tools I need to assist the setup stage. Plus, now I know how the fights go (and what to do). So I’m no longer scared of the Rift. The horror stores I heard, are a myth.
Though maybe I got lucky, not having my horse die. I think I’m going to bring a backup horse (believe I have another saddle I can use to keep it from running away while not hitched) incase it does happen (if the vens live long enough ’till it’s go time).
