“Clean up your stuff please” / New mailbox, old memories / Saint’s second life in Xanadu

Yesterday and today have been quite busy. Let’s just go over each one in order;

“Clean up your stuff please”
Been trying to drag Saint’s ass and get everything he made out of the temp pen (so I could build the farm properly). Also, Saint’s been hanging out in Xanadu for a few days. I’ve asked him if he’s exploring or something, and he’s refusing to tell me (or it could be because I may’ve been asking the wrong questions).
He said he would come sometime that day, and I continued with my list of things to do around the deed. BTW, the deed is pretty much complete. I’m just doing the required

New mailbox, old memories
Another thing is I told Saint how I really appreciate the mailbox he made for me (and had it enchanted). However, I didn’t like how he never told me if I wanted a spirit tower (which I don’t). Yet he acted like he didn’t care. And so I bashed the old one down, and made my first mailbox (a spirit cottage). I would’ve built one of the wooden ones, but the picture on the wiki just made them too ugly to even be worth building (at least the spirit cottage looks like a 1×1 stone building). I also got someone to come from Exo in order to get it working. They got the mailbox to be at 98 Courier (which will receive mail within three minutes). The person wanted to get it to 101 (which he claims would be instant).
He also stated that he somehow remembers my name from somewhere, and started asking me a few questions. It was soon discovered…this person is the alt of the guy who I….paid 8s to remove those three Clay tiles(thinking I would be kicking over the docks). Fuck me, how the past comes back to haunt me. Thankfully I was able to change the discussion back to the mailbox (of how he kept failing to get it past 98). He eventually gave up. Tried to discuss payment, and he said that it’s not required. I felt bad, and gave him half a silver for coming out here.

(To continue from the first topic…)
Saint came about five minutes after the guy left, and got everything I asked him to..without a word. Yes, I feel like a bad friend..no, I KNOW I’m a bad friend. But this is why I live alone (like a hermit). But Saint’s over 100 unfinished forges are in the way, and I was still pissed off as he promised that I could rely on him (and he’s letting me down).
And after that, he sailed away.. yet not without removing himself as a citizen of my deed. That was the nail on the coffin for me. I just didn’t feel like doing anything after that. Saint clearly didn’t want to be there, nor did he even say “good job with the place!” That right there made me feel emotionally drained.
So I went back to playing Slime Rancher instead.

Saint’s second life in Xanadu
Today, most of the day went to watching this one guy play the early versions of Slime Rancher. I also wrote that touching blog post about how I felt wrong about my review of the game (and how I feel it ‘requires’ a backstory). Decided to hop into Wurm after I got back from dinner, and then asked Saint about this thing he said he could make for me (aka a Larder). Wurm Winter is coming fast, and I need to get a Larder by the time the ground is covered in snow (to collect snowballs which serve to keep a Larder’s interior cool for long-term storage of food (such as the Breakfasts B2 has been making for me)).
I also need to get the farm going (which I keep being lazy and not wanting to do because farming is BORING in this game).

Saint says he has one ready to go, and all I have to do is get to Xanadu and pick it up. Since what happened with that unfortunate incident of being stuck inside the server border in Pristine, I wondered if it was worth risking it. But the need of a Larder forced me to reconsider (plus, he says no charge). I was to pick it up ‘close to Summerholt’ on the map. After a bit of discussion to narrow down the exact location, I got a picture (that wasn’t exactly that helpful).
And so I left the deed, going North towards the Kami Canal (getting a breeze from the South also helped).
I prayed the login system would allow me to pass through and get to Deli (and then to Xan’s East side). And..it worked! No issues going there, or even going back home. It seems what happened was clearly a very rare event (that the devs have yet to pin down).
In Xan (similar to Pristine), I’m trying to find the correct way in.. and end up going too far North and have to turn around, feeling what I saw when I popped in was correct (and it was). And just like before, Sol is going down by the time I correct the error (and I’m traveling in the dark). And once again, just like Pristine, I’m going by the ingame world map, which only shows the land.
I enter this bay and cross under a few bridges (one named “Dragon’s Spine” which is pretty cool. Though the bridge itself was a standard stone arch bridge going across the bay).
Getting a bit lost here, trying to go by the picture Saint gave me and cross-referencing it with the world map. With Sol down, I couldn’t really make out where I was. I was forced to ask Saint if he can triangulate my position to get my bearings. He couldn’t help me as he “hasn’t had a chance to explore”, but said to keep going North. Did this, and he tells me later to look for an area with a lot of bridges, and “make sure there marble and slate”. I saw a very interesting area on my left that somewhat matched the description of what he’s telling me, took a picture and sent it to him, and he said yes, mentioned the center bridge (which has a cave canal).
I asked if I’m supposed to go through, and he said yes. And when I attempted to..oh GOD the micro-freezing! It was 10x worse than the sermon near me back home! GAH!!
Thankfully it went away enough to allow passage. And the inside of this canal, is unlike anything I’ve seen in Wurm. Typically, cave canals have lamps lighting the way. This thing, has braziers. It’s very wide, high, and has an alternate route going North. Saint said this leads to an underground marina. Wow.. I’m getting Deli vibes.
I met him on the other side of the canal, and he gave me a Larder. I..decided to ask him for another (as he told me I can have one in my boat). I told him I would pay him, but he just gave me it without question. I assume he’s tired of me saying I would ‘pay’ him, thinking I still owe him bricks.

I couldn’t drag them into my boat; was forced to carry them with me. Since it was night, I asked if I could spend the night checking out this strange place he lives in (and if he abandoned all the work in Release he did for his deed). I also finally asked him the right questions, asking if he’s helping out a friend (or the community). All he could say is “i like it here”. Says his current place is still here, and “this is something new”.
Started exploring this deed, and just like the canal I went through to get here, this friends..is a mega-deed. Yet it’s also a very special mega-deed. How special? Its similarities are of the MRT Server, of someone setting up plots in their city and asking if anyone would like to build in them. This.. is that. This mega-deed is sectioned into different plots, on different levels (it’s on a hill). It’s also.. wow. This felt like Inde’s prosperous past. The tiered levels. The dense forests. The fences. The areas to sit and relax and watch the trees sway.. DAMN this place is AWESOME(despite the micro-freezing)!! I can definitely see why Saint chose to start a second life here. It definitely feels like a community deed; nothing like anything I’ve seen in Wurm (over the years since I’ve played).
As I explored, and as I said I felt more misrofreezing, and happily explained my distaste of being in Xanadu. He says he spent $1,350. If that’s on a new computer (which I assume would be) or PC parts, I never bothered asking (though I would never do something like that).
I tried my best to just ignore my CPU screaming for mercy, as I continued to explore.

Decided to ask Saint where his plot was, starting to get a bit annoyed that a turtle could walk faster than me(with two Larders in my hands). He said to meet him where I first met him (which was back at my boat). And so I made the (very) slow trek back and finally got there. He showed up in the same wagon that I saw him with in Release, and I was able to hitch a ride for faster transportation, still utterly BLOWN AWAY with how beautiful this place feels.
He took me to his plot. I found myself on the other side of a fence when he parked his wagon. Luckily the Disembark helped to put me on the right side. It’s a pretty cool place, a small castle. He sent me a pic to what his ultimate build will look like. I’m not sure if the deed owner would allow this (as it looks huge), but whatever.. it won’t be me that’s in the frying pan. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing through.

With Sol now starting to rise, I decided it was time to head back home and I slowly made my way back to my boat. I didn’t bother asking him if he could give me a ride back, as I knew how busy he would be. Plus, a self-walk back to my boat really got me to soak up just how unbelievably pretty this place is (and how it puts mine to shame..). But I tried reminding myself, that once the trees naturally re-grow around my deed (which could take up to several RL months), my place will have that “omg.. I want to LIVE HERE!” feel as I first discovered it. I just wish they grew faster. 😛
I mean, I could help it out by randomly planting trees here and there, but the coverage won’t look natural.
Back in Xan (sorry I got distracted there. It happens) I’m heading back towards the way I came. But as I’m passing under “Dragon’s Spine”, I decide to turn around and check out Summerholt (you know, since I’m out here). I also decided to find and pull up the Xanadu community map, which reveals a surprise… if I had just continued through the canal instead of turned around, I would had been at Summerholt. 😛
I also saw there’s a way back out to the ocean through the NE, and I selected that to be where I would go to head back home.
Halfway to the canal, I stopped short and on a shoreline away from any deeds, thinking I can just drop the Larders and then load them into my boat (so I can move quick again). At the time, the area looked hostile-free. But as soon as I hopped out of my boat, a mountain lion and a ven anaconda attacked me. Geared up and finished both of them off with some damage (but nothing that required me to cotton or LT it away).
With them both dead, I butchered/buried and took their goodies, and threw them in my boat, then finally loaded both Larders. Yay! Now I can move 17km/h again (instead of 4km/h)!
Hopped back in (didn’t even bother mooring) and continued up to reach the canal.

Made it to Summerholt, one of the many starter towns in Xan(due it being 4x bigger than Inde). It looked the size of FM in Inde, and even had a display of every boat in the game. Claimed it has two markets, which is unusual. The one to the North seemed.. dead (there was a single Trader (without a stall) and that was it). The main market was to the East, which.. well, in terms of the number of active traders, is FM-sized (the size itself I feel is bigger than Tap Dance Market, but smaller than FM).
I’m looking for a better stone chisel, one that can help me grind stone-cutting better (for any future jobs(such as having the itch of redesigning the deed)). Sadly, nothing here.
Sol is starting to go down again (due to my own stupidity that I could had been here a LOT sooner.. but really I wasn’t in a hurry). Made my way back to the boat, and I felt it was finally time to go home. Back through the canal, and then head North through another.
Nearly out of the canal’s East, and my CPU finally said “NO!! FUCK YOU! I HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT!!” and perma-freezed Wurm. And here I had just said “you know, Xanadu isn’t -that- bad. Infact I want to explore this place!”

Trying to come back online, and Wurm’s getting possibly the most ironic (and hilarious) update I’ve ever seen..fixing studdering issues (by fixing a few memory leaks). However, since then, it feels like the microstuddering has gotten worse. Still, I try my best to ignore it (because ignoring is all I can do until I get enough to fix this with new hardware).
Passing another bridge on my way to a North canal, I see a large market to my left. Decide to stop and check this place out. One of these traders actually has what I’m looking for; a 54 BoTD chisel for only 65c. Checked all the other ones to see if they had any better deals, but eventually I went with this one. To have the combined enchants of WoA and CoC as one enchant? Yes please. Now I can’t wait ’till the Impalong, so I can throw it in one of the coffins on the top floor and get it enchanted further. Though I had to ask if this could even be enchanted on the Freedom isles (or if it’s a Chaos-only thing). Should have no problem (in theory). But we’ll see what happens when December comes.

And with that (and in the dark once again) it was finally time to head home. Made my way through another one of these interesting cave canals. On the other side (and above me) was an army of charcoal piles lighting the night (with even more near it). Probably someone grinding the charcoal-making skill. And soon I was finally back on the ocean, heading north (still night). Decided to head East around the landmass there and head to Deli. I really wanted to check out Tap Dance Market back on Cele before heading home. But I decided to just head North instead.
Almost to the point of the server border, I saw another Valrei item. Debated on grabbing it, but decided against it as no one cares for them anymore (they’re too common now to be worth the 20c asking price).

Made it to Deli and Cele with no issues! I’m not lowering my guard, though. Going to try to avoid server crossing as much as possible (only for if I absolutely have to(such as getting those Larders)). I may have to go back to Deli in order to pick up some Camilla sprouts at Southport to complete the garden idea behind the Boathouse. Then again, I could just have them COD them to me (since I got a much better mailbox). Yet that would also cost way too much as every item (even in a container) is 1c.. ouch. That shit can add up into silver (since I need a LOT of sprouts).
Made it back home as Sol rose. Man, I hope the trees re-grow quickly. This place looks UGLY compared to that place. Still a bit teed off Saint cleared them out.. but it was the only real way to map out the place properly.

And so, it’s time to wrap up this post. Tomorrow I need to continue doing everything on my list to finally 100% complete the deed, and then do my own thing (like exploring). And as for Tap Dance, I can easily go there on horseback. It isn’t that far from my deed.
