A new direction, yet with old burdens (+ early game gearing)

As I said, I didn’t have high hopes for today…and it seems I was right. Even my backup plan has failed. It seems not many play this class as in the past, plus I’m being redirected to another forum to ‘get ideas’.
This is not good. It just felt like more and more like that dreaded (yet also true) feeling of “this game is not for you”..especially when I said “no I don’t want to ‘get ideas’, I want a build that will work” and being told “I doubt anyone can help you with that”.

As the day went on, I asked the Guild I had joined yesterday (called ‘Simple Traders’) if this is the Guild to ask for crafted gear upgrades..and got no response. So I feel like I need to seek a more active Guild. Within five seconds after asking, I get an invite to join ‘Savage Hearts’. The person leaves before I could ask them more about the Guild (like is it what I’m looking for and stuff) and decide to join it and then ask. The people here never tell me what this Guild is about (and there’s only one guy responding). I assume this is a ‘jack of all trades’ Guild (as they also PvP).
I decide to wait ’till the afternoon to ask them the same questions I asked the last one, as I had a few things to do IRL. With them done, I tried to rephrase my question as “what I should I set my Attributes” (noticing my build was..already set from what it was before (the only thing that resetted was my attributes and the Champion Points I placed)). Anyway, one told me to put it all in Magicka. Finally we’re getting somewhere!
Then someone asks if I have ‘vox’. Told them I never heard of it. Was told this ‘GameVox’ chat client, stating they would be able to help me better in it through their server. And so I did. Had to make an account, and got right in to their channel.
And talking to them, they pretty much suggested that I reroll as either a High Elf or a Brenton Sorcerer (to take advantage of all the racial passive traits). They convinced me to make a High Elf (as Brenton also has bonuses to PvP which I don’t need). I also had to buy the ‘Adventurer’s Pack’ for 1,500 Crowns to get access to the ‘any race any alliance’ thing (as it won’t allow you by default). So now I can play as any race I wish, and be part of any alliance I wish. That’s pretty awesome, and I definitely had the Crowns to spare for it.
After spending nearly 15 minutes on the character customization screen, trying to make this race that I’ve never played as to look like me (and gave him the most generic name I could possibly think of ‘Benie Thehighelf’ (it actually would’ve been ‘Benie’ but with three ‘e”s at the end. Sadly the game won’t allow that)) I was finally in the game…yet not where I expected to be (which was Davon’s Watch). Instead, I wound up in ‘Bleakrock Isle’, the new starting zone for the Ebonheart Pact. What was quite odd was they were telling me “oh it’s always been like that”.. uhh, no. My DK AND my first Sorcerer first started in Davon’s Watch (in 2015); this I definitely remember happening. So it’s obvious this got changed. But, ehh. No biggy. It’s fine.

What isn’t, is the game didn’t give me a staff when I started. They’re giving me Melee weapons when I’m clearly a Ranged class. Well, I don’t have to use them. I can still just cast spells and stuff. I just won’t be able to use Destruction Staff abilities (until RNG eventually gives me one from questing).
And that’s what I’ve been doing so far. I’m struggling with the hotbars, though. I need to find an addon that’ll make this somewhat easier (yet also be simple to set up). There are addons that I have (aka Sorcerer Helper) which are supposed to be helping me, instead aren’t doing anything.

.
EDIT2: Had to buy a staff from the first merchant I saw. It was a basic one, but I finally had the Destruction Staff skill unlocked. Now I’m a true Ranged class! Seeing everyone that was a Sorcerer running around with a staff on their back (and I still had a stupid dagger)..WTF is going on?!
So I managed to get all the way to Davon’s Watch and getting ready to do the quests I remember doing. However, seeing how I’m still in my Soul Shriven ‘gear’…this is starting to concern me. I need to wear Light armor, and I keep getting everything else. Also I tried visiting a Tailor (one that sells Light/Medium Armor) but all they had was those things that would allow a Tailor to craft ‘in the Style’ (instead of actually having.. uh.. ARMOR! How in the fuck am I going to make sure I’m doing enough DPS when I’m still stuck in the beginner clothes?!
I don’t want to harass that trading guild with gear requests. Yet I need armor. “Not worrying about it ’till Level 50” doesn’t work in this game.

There’s also.. meh. Having to do the old Single Player campaign (for the 3rd time). It’s not really the fact of having to do it, it’s the fact I’m having to do it as the same class and spec I was before (under the same Alliance). Sure I could had picked the others, but they talked me into staying with the Pact.
So I’m going to have to think of something about armor acquiring. And another thing.. I also asked this guild if the $40 ‘expansion’ was worth it to them. “If you like PvP it’s worth it” is all I really got out of them. Though another one claims that there’s ‘probably’ more than 40 hours of gameplay in there. Clearly I’m not going to get a decent answer.

.
EDIT3: So this just went from ‘meh’ to ‘frustrating’. After posting this blog post, I asked my two guilds of why the Clothing merchants don’t sell Light Armor. In the second one, a guy by the name of ‘TurboRaptor’ said something that made my heart sink (and my frustration rise); to not buy vendor gear and to “make your own”. Uhh.. UHHHH. Me.. MAKE stuff (instead of questing)? You got to be kidding. This is why I look for a crafting guild to prevent having to do this! The only time I ever made armor was in Skyrim (yet that wasn’t even legit).
However, I decided to go with it instead of do my usual “I DON’T WANNA!!” thing, hoping it would be easy enough. Said to look for ‘Jute’, green plants with yellow flowers. When I asked “How many of these will I need to make a set?” Was told ’60’.
Ohh BOY!! I can see where this is going! I do so love ENDLESS ‘collection quests’!! No addons to help me either! PERFECT!

Stuck to it, as I had nothing better to do. Went back to the starter island, and was told that “they’re everywhere”. I expected to see them BE everywhere and not have to fucking look for them! Sure, there were a few areas where these plants were kind of close, and then there were these ones that I collect one and not see another for over 5-10 minutes of running around like a headless chicken. They must either be on a set timer, I’m lagging, or someone’s been taking all of them before me.
There’s this ‘Keen Senses’ ability I can get. Managed to get it…*facepalms in real life* all it does is make it glow when you’re within 20 meters or closer at Level 1 of it. Yeah, that’s quite helpful.. IF IT WAS FUCKING NIGHTTIME!!! D:( How is this helpful during the day?! Put fucking neon lights on it! You definitely couldn’t miss that!
Dunno what more to say about this. I can’t really say “fuck this” as that’s just going back to my lazy ass ‘everything has always been handed to me in life and I never had to work for it’ past. But HOW in the FUCK do people tolerate this shit?!
I’ve decided that I’m just not going to let this be my main focus, and quest normally. If I manage to see these stupid flowers while questing (not even going to bother trying to look for them..let them come to me), then I’ll collect them. But that’s it. I refuse to go on a wild goose chase to find these fucking things!

Or even better, if my first Guild could help, to possibly give me all the Jude I need and grind the skill enough to get to a level I feel like I won’t fall behind (like if I’m Level 40 and my Clothing skill is like Level 6 or something (and I can only make up to Level 20 gear).
There’s also another passive skill that unlocks at Clothing Level 3, of hiring someone that will gather random things for you (on a timer). Though I feel this thing will give me everything but Jude (and feel like a waste of a skill point).
From what I’m seeing so far, I wouldn’t doubt it. The only thing that I did like is the fact the skill will go up with regular questing XP. So it won’t be as grindy. That’s good, I guess. But again(so much ‘again’) I worry more about falling behind of not focusing on finding Jude (and then making it a grind of having to search).

On second thought, I don’t fucking care if I do fall behind. Maybe if I’m high enough (and find a more active crafting Guild as the one I’m in feels deader than Jakob Marley), they’ll take pitty on me (by whining enough on how this is an endless collection quest :P) and give me the gear I seek.
But that’s a big ‘maybe’. Who knows what the future holds.
