…but I REFUSE to give up! I am dragon, hear me ROAR!!

..Ok, maybe that was a bit too much, but you guys get my point. A dragon doesn’t give up until it gets what it wants. And I’m not giving up. Infact, I’m already working on an idea as I speak. I’m going with the same idea of relocating the ‘canal’ to face the center of where the token would be. The rest of it, just took inspiration from looking at my old pictures of my trips; mainly Exo. What really got the creative juices flowing was remembering that 1×2 ‘Boathouse’ next to the river. I had an idea to name it ‘B2’s Diner’. It would have a table separating the two sections of the structure, and the back would have a crude fence (where there would be tables). The idea really looks good and I’m quite happy with it (that’s a good start).
At the end of the ‘canal’ (actually, I have no idea what the correct term for this is. Is it a ‘cove’? Is it a ‘river’? …Ehh, whatever), I would have my house. Yet I haven’t had an idea how to decorate it (that it won’t look like an exact match of the one I had in OR), or of it not having a forge in it. I want to go for the whole secondary building thing.
Another idea was to make it -like- OR, except the twin gravel path would have the thing running through the middle. It also won’t really feel right IMO. The point of having another deed is to start fresh..not rebuild what you had at your old place.

I made a list of what buildings I require (and want). My house, a spot for Tulsi’s house, a central area for grinding Blacksmithing and anything else that requires a specific crafting object(like a Loom), Boat Docks, a Horse(maybe even Bison) pen area (and perhaps even having an area to raise up livestock like cows/sheep/chickens etc), Cart storage, and then finally Item Storage. However, most of these, I’m having conflicting ideas of what goes where and how to construct the structure. This is the first time in my life I had to plan out another deed for myself (that wasn’t an attempt of rebuilding OR).
After staring at the plan for an hour (and still debating on if I should put horse pens behind the diner or the smeltery), it was clear I was in need of help from Saint.
I approach this by saying “I’ve been working on a new plan that I’m actually going to like” and show him, then start talking about what I just said up there. As I talk, the Event log catches my eye yet again about the forums now available and to change your passwords… it’s been TWO DAYS since the forum came back up with the security updates! SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT ALREADY!! GEEZE. He claims it doesn’t bug him (how it ‘only shows up every half an hour’), after I said I wish there was a way to turn them off.
I also explain how I want to change my password, but I have forgotten that the email is pointing to my original ISP (who was InsightBB, before they got bought out by Time Warner, and before they’re now called Spectrum). I used the ‘Contact Us’ option on the forum and told them to please change the email (so I can change my password). I have yet to receive a response. Saint suggests I make a ticket…I just got done seeing that annoying Support tab popping up everytime I log in/server transfer a week ago (after that incident with getting stuck behind a locked gate)! I am NOT going to be annoyed AGAIN (just to get my damn email changed)!
Getting back to the point I came on, he was too busy with his own deed to assist me, and then goes AFK. So I stop talking and patiently wait for him to respond. During this, I’m continuing to work in Deedplanner, trying to get the slopes going right. I use my docks as a good example of getting the slope to look smooth (with the depth being 21 dirts down). After a lot of hell, I finally got it by having the global height set to 15, and then lower the tiles to the water to -7 (which is 22 dirts). Also, Warlander(the dev of Deedplanner) has FIXED the ‘fail to adjust the global height and try it again = crash’ issue (in version 2.8.5)! HELL YES!! 😀
That issue has plagued me for quite some time. Glad to see it finally fixed! He also says in a later version, we will no longer have to manually adjust the global height after importing a map; that it will automatically realize the water level and match it to how it shows ingame! I can’t wait for that.
Anyway, I’m heading back up the side ramp, get to the top and my Combat log flashes..another Aged troll. What the hell? That’s like the 3rd troll in that SAME spot in a week! Where the FUCK are they coming from?! Actually, it’s the forth troll this week, as one of them was a ven troll.
Someone needs to NPC up and be all “The trolls are getting bold and harassing homesteaders in Inde! Please kill trolls and bring back 25 {Troll Ear}s as proof, in order to quell their numbers. *Rewards: Wad of gum x5 | 2500 Experience*” Be all WoW here, and have the drop rate of troll ears a true grind. lol

However, that laughter turned into…mmm(drama). I told Saint about the frequency of trolls ‘in my deed’, and he says “put up some fences”. And I..WHAT?! Ok, did you not see my main deed is walled up (when I showed you my current OR plan)? I tried to explain that “in my deed isn’t in my main deed”. Then I started feeling like shit and apologizing, telling him it’s the stress talking.
He says he was AFK all of that time, building a lot of his deed. Decide to drop that silly ‘argument’ and (trying to actually be friendly here) asked him how’s it going so far. Says it’s going great, and shows me what his place would look like once it’s completed. And it is pretty damn nice (minus the crash I got when I tried to load it into Deedplanner. Thankfully it didn’t keep me from viewing it). What really caught my eye was this blackish area with forges and stuff, and a structure having various objects in it. I really liked this design, however I told him “I wish I had Slate in my mine”. He says that it’s ‘hard to find’ but knows where he can get some.

I didn’t want to claim it as my own, because that’s wrong. So I tried to think of a way to make it work with remembering a really nice non-deeded area in Deli (that had a Workshop). It started off simple, but then I had another idea to make a ‘yard’ area (surrounded with stone arches). I called it ‘The Grinding Hall’. Thought of calling it ‘The Grinding Yard’. Though I had to wait ’till after I got back from dinner to try this idea. Coming back, I tried it and liked it..for about 10 seconds. Then it felt ‘too big’ and ‘too much open space’.
Came back on Wurm and asked Saint what he thought of it, and he said “try not to make the deed too big”. Wasn’t that the point of having a 29×29 plot? Though the more I think about it, I think he was using my own words against me (when I told him a day ago that I didn’t want it to be too big). And really, I don’t want it too big, and I stick to that. Then I finally told him what I said earlier in this blog post (about having conflicting ideas). After I get done explaining everything (in hopes he was done enough to help me), I asked if he could, and he says “do you have a deed up?” I stared at that question, then said “I don’t know how to answer that question. Yes/No?”..praying he wasn’t going to say what I’m thinking……and he does, saying “when you get the deed up, let me know and I’ll help you”

And I…I…I fucking lost it. FUCK this ‘friendship’! The gloves are COMING OFF! Yet I was also mildly confused at the same time. I explained to him the purpose of what I’m doing, hoping to hammer it into his head. He claims “it’s too hard to create the map”. Dude. No. Mapping is done! Now it’s the planning stage! And he says “can’t plan properly without a good map”.
My anger swelled. H…HOW is what I’m working on, NOT GOOD ENOUGH for you?! Okay, pal. You asked for it. And then I proceeded to (yet again) remind him why I’m even doing this, and what his ‘purpose’ was. He continued to ‘ignore’ me, and I just kept it up. Then, I said “look, I know you’re busy building your deed, and I’m sorry for ever bothering you”. I said I could’ve asked the forum, but reminded him again about the dead email preventing me from resetting my password.
..Finally, my anger changed to pure pain, trying to apologize for what I’m saying and why I’m this way. I said “Saint, I’m not you. I can’t come up with an idea just like that”. I also said “I’m sorry for using you”, and “I’m the worst friend ever. This is why I have no friends.”
He responds 5 minutes later, saying “relax bud” and telling me he was AFK and was “talking to some folks that showed up”. *facepalm* Ohhh fuck me.

Later on, calming down, I gave him one last suggestion of how we could still deed the place up, to ‘go in halfsies’. Yet he says he spent all of his silver on buying a few rare items. Wow. My thoughts? “Well, you said you didn’t want the money, so I used it for me”, and that’s fine. Wasn’t pissed, just..disappointed. Then I asked him, one. last. time, to please..help me with figuring out what goes where. He says “i can come out in a couple of days” I became puzzled of what he meant by ‘coming out’, and asked him. He said to come out to the spot and “it always helps to look at it in person”. I started feeling a bit frustrated and said “So you feel that map isn’t enough?” He says “not without the perspective”.
Alright, this is a bit upsetting (and I’m going to call BS after stating all of this), but fine. “So, by Sunday then?” I ask, and then he says “oh forgot, tomorrow(aka today) is my son’s birthday, and sunday is my wifes, so this weekend is not good for me.” I refuse to call BS over this statement, because that would be very wrong.
Knowing I get my monthly check on Monday (and then go to the grocery store on that same day), I tell him that day is not good for me….so it’s going to have to be Tuesday, which royally sucks.
What I am calling BS on, is him feeling he has to go there in order to help me. BULLSHIT! He’s only saying this to give him time to build his deed up. Ok, fine. So why can’t he just say THAT instead of making me think he’s purposely stalling in order for me to stop asking him for help!?
And WHAT the FUCK would coming back there accomplish?! I STILL wouldn’t have (or even bother getting) the silver to found it (until I knew I’m ready to found)! Plus, we have the mapping done! …Why isn’t it good enough? What is he not telling me? Now you know why I’m calling BS.

So now I’m trying to think of what the hell I’m going to do for these three (long) days in Wurm while I ‘patiently’ wait for Tuesday to roll around. It took time, but I’ve came up with two options;
1. Go explore Release (boat only for now).
2. Go to the area and map out the height of the back road (and see if that’s ‘good enough’ for him (without him having to come back down there)).

I think I might just do both. Use the weekend to explore Release (then on Sunday, go check out Saint’s place and check it’s progression since I was first there), and then on Monday (after going to the store and eating dinner IRL), I’ll go to the area and get the back road (including the hills in the back) mapped out.
And honestly, even if I deed it up, the mapping I would be doing, would be no different than an Import. I think he’s bitching because the hills (that he likes) aren’t there. I was planning to level them down as they’re in the fucking way. That, or he’s bitching because the map isn’t oriented the way he did it (though, which is actually the way Wurm’s exporter would do it, as it always uses North for its facing).
I feel I can’t work with it facing that direction. Why? Even though I enter from the
East, every structure there would be facing in that same direction (or at least facing the center of the ‘canal’). When I look from my house, I would be looking towards the lake (which is East.. not North).
OR, everything has to face North (because that clay hill is keeping me from changing it). Though..I think it was the fact I had to train my brain of the facing. To be forced to think North (but still plan East), feels ‘alien’ to me. Though eventually, I would get used to it.

“I’m stuck here for the rest of my life”

When you’re too depressed to even find enjoyment in watching a Youtube video (over a video game)… you know you need help. And not help in the game, but help from outside of it. Aka, to rethink your life.
And you guys know the game, right? The game I still wish I could go back in time and stop myself from having angry talk me into it.

Came on today, and Saint was on. I told myself to remain calm (and also don’t ask him about getting him to come visit me). Ask him “are you surprised to see I’m back home?” He says “I assumed you got bored and left”. I said “Well.. it’s the fact you logged out and I didn’t know how to get back to my boat.” And he says “ohh, didnt think about that”
…Didn’t….DIDN’T THINK ABOUT THAT?!?! AFTER I FUCKING TOLD YOU THE MAP IS UNRELIABLE?! …Oy. He said he was sorry for leaving me there. I said “luckily I had my alt save me and got me back to my boat”. He said “i have this habit of forgetting that not everyone knows everything i do”
*sighs* I calmed down after that, and forgave him. Honestly, I can’t stay mad. It would be silly. Everyone makes mistakes.

After that, I told him I was going to head back down to the area and attempt to do the mapping, and said “don’t worry, I’m not going to ask you to go down there. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine.” I wanted him to do his work; no sense of him having to come down there (again), when he has stuff to do. It’s only fair. Yet I started debating with myself if this was the right thing to do (and I don’t just try to use his map instead). But I feel, that …well, I wanted it done in a way I could see it better, and be able to work with it.
I set sail and went down there. After exiting the canal, I met Lathe who wondered if this means I’m actually going to found the place afterall. I told him that the option is still on the table, but I haven’t 100% decided yet (and this is true). Docked in the canal thing and got out. The horse I tamed, was still tamed (so that means no mobs were here since I left). I looked in my backpack…and noticed I forgot to bring my gear with me. B2 had to come down there to give me it, by the time Sol went down. Since it was dark, I had him stay there until Solrise.

I tried mapping out the first tile in Deedplanner. I adjusted the global height to 25, and started adjusting the slopes. Started having an issue trying to make the tile at the bottom flat, but eventually after much trial and error I figured it out. But as I continued to play with it, the slopes just didn’t match to what I was seeing. Started getting frustrated to the point I want to pull my hair out, and debated about just going on and getting the 13.5s. Someone told me yesterday that “you’ll get a little silver back if you disband”..but I find that hard to believe. It wouldn’t give me a full refund (for not being happy).
I asked GL-Freedom, if there was an easier way to do this without deeding. I spoke to Yaga (dev of WurmClock), who told me that either I deed it up or map it out manually. Another person suggested to try to do a flat plan (and then worry about height afterwards). Thought about it, and looked at Deedplanner. Sure enough, there’s a ‘Water’ ground option! THIS will work, I thought. Went right to it, going from tile to tile, and placing what’s there. Within an hour later, I was DONE! FINALLY.. I have the area mapped out!! Now to go home, and try to think of what my future deed will look like.

Arrived back home, logged out and tried to get to work on a plan. …….And, no. I didn’t know where to start. I had a few ideas, but as usual, my emotions were fighting with me saying “how will this look? How will that look?”, and I couldn’t answer. I had no answer. The main idea I had was to ‘kick’ over the canal thing to face the center of the area, raise up the center, put the token on it, and build a “town square” around it. But the real issue was trying to figure out where my house would go.
That idea went to having the house next to the canal thing, then having a bridge to..something on the other side. But I just could not think of any ideas of where or how to put it. “Time to go in Wurm and bitch to Saint!” I thought. Oy.
And that’s what I did. Told him I had no idea how to start (and everything I just said). So he got to work, and, as usual, none of his ideas I liked (because they just don’t feel ‘normal’ to me. It doesn’t feel like something I would build.
As he worked, I tried to show him what my place looked like in Deedplanner (this is the next best thing of having to come over here).

I also talked to him about Tulsi (though saying “my friend” instead of his name), about me wanting him to build a 3×3 (if he ever got his Carp up). He suggests I plan it, and he makes the planks/nails. Now that plan would work well, if it wasn’t for the fact of having where his house will go being part of the wall keeping mobs out.
I could see myself setting up the 3×3, yet him not logging on for an X amount of days (for whatever reason he has) and trolls able to get through the nice gaping hole in my fence and kill me. When he’s ready (and stays on long enough to build the back walls in order to re-secure the deed) then I will do it.

.
Much later, he asks me “do you need an altar?” I said “I dunno, it’s debatable, but not right now”. And instead of that conversation ending there, he tells me that sacrificing rare items is “a good way to get 99% nutrition”. Ohhh, here. we. go. DRAMA ALERT!!
“Saint”, I said, “I don’t care about nutrition. Keeping my fat layers in check is all I care about”, adding “the less annoyances in my life, the better.” And that goes for real life as well. He keeps trying to convince me that cooking is a good thing, that it will help keep not only your Hunger bar from getting lower, but your Water bar. Told him I don’t care. I don’t FUCKING CARE!! It’s MORE FUCKING GRINDING!!! Watching more numbers go up! FUCK THAT!! I want to do something FUN, like exploring! Not standing in one place, clicking on the same buttons for hours!
That proves he is NOTHING..like me. Stop bullshitting, acting like you are. And since that, I (a lot more dots) dunno. I was waiting for him to defriend me, but he never did. He just continued helping me with trying to plan out the area.
Clearly, this game isn’t for me (and hasn’t since Day 1). I even said “before you tell me ‘maybe Wurm isn’t for you’, there are NO games out there that are for me!!”

He suggested WU. I told him my experience with that game (which wasn’t good). I said even WU is community-based, but I would rather join an official server than the server of someone I’ve never met before (and deal with their BS).

.
.
And..that was basically it. I…I dunno what I’m going to do. I thought of visiting Green Dog and that deed in Exo again to get some much-needed inspiration, yet I feel it’ll be a waste of time. On top of that, I found out I got barely a silver left in my deed. That just proves just how much silver I’ve spent.
My anger with myself, has nearly turned to tears. Why do I refuse to change? There’s been so many great changes to this game (including cooking), and yet I still live life as if it’s still 2010. If I actually did the things Saint does..maybe I might actually.. enjoy it for once. But how can I enjoy watching the QL (and the enchants) of my tools go down upon use? How can I enjoy the fact I’m going to have to get them re-imped (and re-enchanted)? How can I enjoy the fact I have to use the Impalong (again) to do this?
Blacksmithing, is the main bitch in Wurm. Almost everything, relies on working with metal in one form or another. And again, I have to stand infront of a hot forge, clicking on the Create button in the Crafting Window (or imping with various tools, watching their Damage numbers go up until I got to get THEM replaced (such as a pelt). You can never rest. You are ALWAYS doing something! Either having to hunt for a pelt, having to hunt in order so you can get meat to make a meal, or standing infront of a forge! …How is this “fun”, I ask you? But like I said before, I did ask people if they felt this was fun. And their answer was “no, but it has to be done“..just like real life.

This is not the gaming experience I want to have. On the verge of disbanding OR, uninstalling the game, and trying to see if it’s at all possible to go up to a doctor or someone and get my Wurm memories erased. If not, then let’s pay for the research! I want them GONE! I want to forget I ever played Wurm!
I feel for doing so, I would had been much better by now.

Operation: Cele move – The aftermath / Fun with Saintdouglas

Got on today, and was about to talk to him (he had friended me yesterday) and noticed he was offline since an hour ago. I thought he just had something to do, so I set sail back to the area. Halfway after leaving, I had forgotten to grab my gear and had to go back and get it, then headed off again.
Emerged out of the south canal, and I saw a boat in the canal with Pryath digging away at the sides. I stopped and asked what they were doing, and the person said of working on the canal. So I bid them adieu and headed on to the area. …My heart sunk into my chest when I noticed both boats (his and his alt’s), were gone. Oh NO!! FUCK!! ..I’m the worst friend ever, I thought. I couldn’t talk in Local, because Pryath was in it and had to use PMs to myself.
I TOLD him I would come back!! Fuck. I then decided to tell Pryath what happened in hopes they would support me (or even help pay the 13.5s I need for this place). All they said was the same thing Saint said of considering making the deed smaller.
So, seeing a lot of things I still owned, I felt there’s no point of staying here anymore, so just go home. Tamed the horse, got my horse gear back. Got my tent back. After I was about to go load up my wagon, a hell hound tried to gank me. Quickly geared up and sunk my axe into its burning head. Had to cotton up once, since I didn’t gear up fast enough and it gave me a few nasty wounds. But all good. Grabbed what crates I could, loaded them up into the wagon, unhitched the horses (and let them freely roam..since I don’t need them anymore) and loaded up the wagon….and sailed back home.

Now, let me make this perfectly clear to you guys and gals. I’m not saying that I’m never going to deed here. If I can’t find anything on Release, the spot is still open for me (as Pryath reminded me). I just can’t afford it right now. Not until maybe next month when I get more RL money. Again, it’s still on the table, and available.
—-
Personally, I feel I still need to go here one of these days, and really get in there to do this planning job myself. I still need it fully done. Even if I ‘went halfsies’ with him (bought some silver and he gives me the rest for the deed), I still won’t know if I really WANT the place. Yes, it’ll give me two months after founding it to plan it out in Deedplanner, but since you can’t get your money back, how am I going to pay back his half if I can’t make something work?
As for making it smaller, I feel it needs to be its full size to see how it would look. If I feel I can’t really work with the size, then I will definitely consider making it smaller. Again…I NEED that mapping job done (fully)!

Headed home. What happened with me and Saintdouglas, I doubt was because he felt I left him. It’s obvious (to me) he left because he felt that I was done with this area, and why bother staying there anymore(again, even though I told him I would come back).

….
Came back on, preparing to leave to explore Release on my own (and then I saw him in my friends list). I reminded him of telling him I would be back, and he tells me the reason why he left is he tried to make 100 forges and failed to get a rare, got bored and went home. There was also another reason that I did forget to mention..this guy has had SEVERAL active deeds, yet sells them for profit. I don’t see how he’s even making a profit, to be honest.
He just had another deed sell for 7s, and he’s building a new deed (which is why he can’t come up here and visit my place). Then he suggests that I come visit him instead and see the deed he just sold. Then I ask him “if I visit your place, do you promise to visit mine?”, he said sure, and so this is something I definitely have no regrets over.
He told me where it was, I marked it on the world map, and set sail. And as soon as I crossed the server border from Indy to Rel, fog is forming! GREAT..just great. I’m a bit annoyed at Saint for not alerting me of this navigation hazard(before I crossed over). He acts like it’s no big deal, stating he “uses a compass more” during fog. A compass isn’t going to tell you jack SHIT when all you see is gray!!
While this is going on, another boat is approaching me from the SW and stops short of me, and the captain of the boat says hi and asking me where I’m going (in a friendly way). So I told them. The person claims they just came from there, and I asked if they knew Saintdouglas. Person says no, that they’re also new to the server. Wow, someone else exploring by boat (that they say they’re hunting instead)? Someone pinch me, I’m NOT alone in this!
The fog started to clear and I pointed my Knarr’s nose NE, following the world map. Asked Saint a few times, using some named landmarks (bridges, structures, etc) if I’m going the right way. He says yes, and “look for a Caravel”. I’m thinking “oh..great. There’s probably Caravels all over the shoreline!” Pass between twin islands, still heading of where I think he’s at. A lone Caravel appears ahead and to the right of me. I’m thinking it’s probably another parked boat…until I see it move towards me. It was Saint, here to escort me to his place.
I follow him, jokingly saying “you actually got it out of the museum?”(hinting at people who buy/build these big ass ships, and never use them afterwards(aka treat them as decoration in a museum)). Though he’s driving a special ship, but I would not know how special it was until much later (hint: it was made by a very popular person).
Arrived at the deed. Was the same size as Oceanside Retreat. No animal pens, but it did have a really nice lighthouse. Also a brick building named “She” (it’s a joke from the song ‘Brick House’). I even asked as a joke “was she built like an Amazon as well?” Told me it’s pretty thick brick made out of..Pottery? Yes, you can have walls made out of Playdough. That’s just awesome.

He gave me a small tour of the surrounding area, that ended pretty quick and said “let’s take the boat as it’ll be quicker”. Ok, let me go get my Knarr and…wait. You want me..to RIDE in your Caravel?! Ohh..my. Best day EVER!! 😀
And dude, it was just like the Cog (the view of the passenger). The first passenger gets the crows nest..BEST FUCKING VIEW EVER!!! Plus he tells me this thing does NOT shit itself in low wind (or when the wind is in its face)! Wow.. if we ever get horses being able to go cross-server (and I’m still alive to see it), I am getting one of these things (if they actually go by my suggestion of having big boats being able to carry livestock cross server).
I’m taking pictures like a madman, being up here. Even the fog that kept on forming, dissipating and forming right after, I didn’t mind. I had the best seat in the house.
We go under a bridge, and I feel like I had to physically duck of how low it looked! I haven’t experienced this view since I came back in 2015 (before bridges and all of that).
Parked in a spot, I hopped off and followed him to another place that used to be his (before moving out). Wow, he owns (well used to own) a LOT of deeds on this server! He’s also telling me how we’re passing by a few of his allies, and gave me a map that was filled with markers of where all of the alliance members are. Not even the alliance I was in, had that many members.

Checked out this castle. I started being all drama again, saying “I wish I could think of something like this, and have an idea how the interior would look”. Also sort of explained my ‘issue’ with being a huge fan of dragons (aka Champagnedragon being better than me in so many ways). He says “it happens”, that there will always be someone more experienced than you. I said how it ‘brings shame to me’. Thank goodness I didn’t go as far as to say..”I like to RP as one.” It was feeling awkward already.
Passing that humiliating thing, he said to head to the top to have a killer view. I did, and..it wasn’t bad. I’ve seen better from climbing mountains (via roads leading up to them).
He told me that the upkeep to the place was 7.5s. DAMN, that’s a lot! I asked him how in the hell was he able to afford the monthly payments, and he claims…he got it from four days of foraging/botanizing. Ugh. Asked “does that mean 4 days nonstop?”, and he said no and only did it a couple of hours. He claims it’s quite profitable…mmmm.
We headed back to the old deed, he allowed me to barrow one of his horses, and said he would give me a tour of the server. Sure, I’d love a tour from someone that knows these roads! Though this mainly turned into a tour of all of the deeds he (used to) own.
We were halfway to the spawn deed, and I told him I had to go soon (aka dinner). Raced to get to Sloping Sands (the name of the deed). When we arrived, I asked him if he would stay here, and he said no “but would pick me up”. Felt that was good, and left.

Came back, and he was offline — a minute ago after I came on! Just missed him! Since he promised he was going to pick me up, I stayed there. Decided to explore the surrounding area while I waited. They have a small market there with about 10 stalls. There was also a trader dedicated to selling high QL tools and stuff to new people. Now that’s pretty awesome, how people are coming together and making these things for anyone that wants to check out Release (after leaving Golden Valley). You know, as I type this, I wonder if I should go back there and get a few tools for Tulsi (to help him out). The tools he’s currently using back home, are decaying in that cart he made (from months of not being used, or not being in a proper container..whichever).
Looking towards the sandy hills to the North, reminded me of Roadside back in JK-H. All there was missing, was fences placed every 20 or so tiles up, with a sign saying “the man’s way up”. It even had a pretty awesome view up there, with one I felt should’ve been on one of those ‘wish you were here…’ postcards.
And Release as a whole? Wow.. I’m getting strong vibes from Deliverance here (that’s a REALLY good thing). The angled, sloping roads going through forests. The views…GORGEOUS!!
The minutes turned to a half an hour, and I felt I better get B2 to go pick me up now (thinking Saint may’ve forgotten about me by accident). The bad thing is, the Wurm Forum is down at the time for a security upgrade (and I had no way to get the Release Community Map to know where the canals are). Tried an idea to get a cached version of where the link would be, and it WORKED! Got the map in my hands, so now I’m ready for B2 to pick me up!
However, his boat being slow was actually a really, really good thing, as Saint came on as B2 was preparing to head into the bay and up to me. Had him go back home (to avoid confrontation with Saint), got Saint’s horse again, and we continued the trip. But all it was, was getting back to the old deed.
As we’re heading back to the old place, I asked him “so how did you get your hands on a Caravel?” He says “I paid someone 12s for it”. Ehh, whatever…and then he says “Enki owned it.” …NO WAY, I’m thinking!! And when we got back and I Examined it, it was indeed made by him. I’m freaking out, saying that he’s famous for owning something that was made by the head GM.
He said it’s nothing, then goes AFK for 10 minutes. Next thing I know, him and his alt are now getting in the Caravel and Saint telling me to hop on. Another adventure? I’m up for it. This time I had a view of being at the front of the ship. The journey stopped with him going through several boats. He hopped out and so did I. Looking at the boats, they were his and his alt’s. He tells me this is where he’s moved to now, and I followed him up a few roads and to a spot out in the middle of nowhere. Sand for as far as the eye can see, and a beautiful 360* view in all directions. You can see Solrise AND Solset here!
He started making more food, reminding me of my “I call BS” statement I told you all yesterday. I asked him “if you claim you’re like me and try to get others to do the work for you, then why are you cooking?” He claims “yeah it’s a grind but it’s ‘not that bad'”.. Not that bad? If it was “not that bad” I would not be bitching about making a casserole when I was forced to cook (in the past)! I told him how I usually ask people for meals. He also says “it’s handy to have”.
I explain the reason why I’ve never bothered cooking, and that’s the decay of meals. He says I can put a Larder in my boat. Ehh, fine. But that’s not going to help me when I’m on a horse!
He says to use the picnic basket we got last year for Wurm Christmas to store one meal in (stating it works just like the Larder in keeping it from decaying). ONE MEAL?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That’s not going to hold me when I’m exploring for a week+!! “Ok, fine” I think, “but what if I bring both baskets(the one my alt got)? Would that weigh me down too much?” He acts like it shouldn’t, then gives me some food shaped like sausages. Whatever, as long as it gets my fat layers back.

I then ask him about him making “a ton of forges until getting one rare” (if he’s ‘like me’). He states he tried to make 100 forges and failed to get a rare one, also stating it’s the initial unfinished item of the forge that rolls the RNG dice. In order words, stating that I would never have to worry of completing the item if I try to get a rare object. Ask him “how in the hell did you store 100 forges!?” and he says “in the ocean”. Bravo, friend. *golfclap*
Sol rises again, and he’s building part of a structure. I ask him “would you know how long when you feel you’ve established your deed, that you’ll visit mine?” (saying “I’m not trying to rush you”). He says as soon as he gets done with this section, he’ll come with me. Thought that was great, and I waited patiently. I wanted to help him (the same way he would help me), but I had no trowel on me.

He suggests I go explore the server while he works, using his horse. Thought sure, and pull up the map..only to realize I had no idea where the hell I was. I tried tracing the map to what I was seeing, but nothing was matching it. Decided to follow the roads, getting more and more lost (and pissed off in the process). Ok. Pristine. Here I was pissed off you weren’t showing canals and roads? At least you had a map dump. This one? There is NO map dump! I found myself on the east coast, feeling completely lost. Thankfully I was able to backtrack my steps to Saint’s place again, and told him more drama of how I need to see (and know) where I’m going at all times.
Continued to wait for him, still annoyed the map isn’t updated enough to be reliable to me. Suddenly, he says “it’s late, I’m going to head to bed”…and drops out before I could say “WAIT.. I have no idea where I AM!!” I stand there, 100% pissed off, feeling like “well, now HE’S the ‘bad friend’ now!” STILL shocked he would just leave me alone with no idea how to get back to my boat and get home.
..B2 to the rescue!

Got him on and going, and then went on foot back to where I had gotten lost. He also got lost (and confused), appearing on the West side of Release (with me on the East side). Was able to fix it with a few server hops, he picked me up, got me to my boat, and we headed home. Unfortunately, the wind had shifted in a very unfavorable direction (due Southwest…right in the direction to get back home). Sol went down by the time I made it back to my boat, and we traveled in the darkness. Went up to Cele to use its coast to go due West (to get some speed and distance). B2 needed water badly, and we stopped at the shore. Someone spotted us and asked if we were new. I simply explained I was trying to get back home, but having to deal with the wind going in the wrong direction.
I absolutely HATE when the wind chooses a semi-cardinal direction (NE/NW/SE/SW), because it slows down both directions. However, we managed to circumvent the wind (by using Cele as a dimensional slingshot) and got home.
I’m going to assume Saint felt (after he logged off) “he’ll be fine there if he just logs off”. But when something like that happens, I panic like a scared animal. He’s going to be surprised to see me gone (and even more surprised how I was able to leave without using his horse).

Instead of writing this blog post, I decided to look like what I always do in Freedom chat (an idiot) after someone asked “what are you guys working on?” I then decided to try the whole forage/botanize thing for myself, in hopes I would get lucky. No such luck. And my luck got even worse when a troll appeared out of nowhere and prepared to slam its club into my unprotected skull (I was wearing my casual gear at the time).
The troll started killing my guards one by one. I got sick of its games and sunk my axe into its skull. STOP. killing. my. tower guards you FUCK!! That’s MY job (to try to un-follow Vynora)!
After that, I left to write this. Who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow. I hope he won’t be angered I left, but I don’t think he’ll mind too much. As for me trying to get him to visit my place, I decided to drop it (after what I did). I’ll let him do the talking. Hell, I might just go back to Cele and do the mapping project while he’s busy with his deed in Release. I’m also debating if it’s worth exploring that server now (with no updated road map). Though if I do, I would do it without his help.
I don’t want to bother him. Not anymore. Let him work, then maybe he’ll have more time for me. From what I saw at that place, he’s got a lot of work ahead of him (and I wish him good luck and fun).

Operation: Cele move – Day 2 [Finale…?]

Day 2 felt like the day where I would finally have the area mapped (with Saint’s help), but instead..I got major disappointment (mixed with anger directed at the Wurm devs). It also had a lot of delicious drama, about my Wurm life (and what happened last year with… the red scaly one that came and also left my life).

Logged in before I even started eating breakfast, and he was on and working. I managed to stop him. Nearly said “are you mapping the area” but stopped myself, asking what he was doing instead. He told me he was leveling some areas but said he didn’t know if I wanted to lower areas or not. Glad he did wait for me. I showed him what I did while he was gone last night (says he saw I filled up the hole). After that, he starts mapping the area for me. I gave him an idea of a deed I saw on Exo (the one with rivers going through it).
Soon he gave me a rough draft of the mapping (seen here (load the link in Deedplanner to see it)). Looked at it and I’m thinking “uhh..hmm. Ugh, I don’t think I can work with this.” Though it wasn’t him that bugged me about this, it was Deedplanner not having a way to rotate the entire map. Plus, he forgot the road that is going to wrap around the back of the area.
I thought “Mmmm…I wish he would get off, so then I could try to do this myself.” I really wanted the map to be rotated where the shoreline was facing down. I then simply had an idea and say I had to do something, logged off and launched a second instance of Deedplanner. Started having issues once again trying to lower the terrain down where I wanted it. Came back on, lying again and said “looks like I didn’t have to leave”.
I decided to ask him about his family as I’m attempting to map in the background (because he keeps talking about taking care of his kids, and I decided to be curious). He says he has four kids, ranging from 6 years old to 2. What a handful. Said “Being a family man has its perks. Though I personally wouldn’t want them.” Then joked with “So who wears the pants in the family?” He said his wife. And finally I asked him “How many dad jokes did you annoy everyone around you on Father’s Day?”, including giving my distaste on them (as they’re groan-inducing).
He says he doesn’t do those things. That’s good. Now we can be friends. 🙂

Sometime later on, he tries an idea I mention to him in Deedplanner, of maybe extending this “canal” thing over to the center of the deed, raise up the center, have the token there, and have two bridges connecting to it. After a few edits, he gets something like what I wanted. Looks pretty good, yet I told him how I have no ideas for buildings around this thing. But I felt after I got home and sat down with this map, I would think of something. He asks if I’m going to go for stone or planks for the buildings, and suggests planks (saying how there’s no mines). I told him how I would be importing supplies from my deed to take care of it.
A bit after that, a message in the Event tab comes up telling people to “please take time out of your day to check out this link”. All it was, is a statement that the Wurm Forum will be going down for a few days, and putting in new security measures (and also warning that forum passwords will be reset). People got confused thinking their main Wurm account passwords would also be reset, but again it’s just for the forum. Also, for some reason, I’m getting mentions everytime someone posts a response in the thread (and I never subscribed or even posted in it).

Back ingame, Saint is chopping the felled trees of yesterday into logs. I decide to help him (even though I was still trying to map the area). He gives me another mapping revision of the area (of the idea I have in my head), adding a 3rd bridge. Looked really nice. Seeing how he was still mapping, I decide to take advantage of this and ask him if he could show the back road. Yes, with the road planned out, maybe I could work with this map afterall. But as time went by, it’s like he was avoiding it. It started to get on my nerves (and I really wanted to say something…buuuuuut it’s rude), so I just focused on acquiring logs. Did get a few rare logs, though.
By now, he mentioned someone else was here while I was asleep, said the person brought him some cotton and rock shards (and square cotton) to make the mailbox for me.
I tried to pull up the private conversation I had with Pryath, when they mentioned several names of neighbors. Told him this list, and he mentions ‘Lathe’ was the person that showed up, and he said this person “seemed like a nice guy” (which is good).

I then shot him a name of this potential future deed (that I told B2 yesterday); “Shallow Lake Refuge”. He thought it was “very pleasant”. A bit later on after hearing combat of two creatures somewhere in the dense woods, I mentioned about needing to find a water source away from the lake. Thankfully he had a pendulum and was able to find the water source…on the back road. FUCK!! And I thought the one at OR was in a bad place. This is worse (as it would be outside the deed)! Still, I handed him the rock shards I brought over from my deed, and he quickly made a fountain with it. It was the horse one, but ehh. It works.
Back to log-creating, I was telling him that I chopped my second rare log (Birchwood, though..the shittiest of logs(as you can’t imp anything that’s made with it), nest to Olivewood). However, you can imp anything wooden-based by using Birchwood. Started measuring our skills, then I popped a “by the way, how’s the mapping coming along?” question (trying to not be a douche). He said he was almost done.
Sadly, things go wrong for him of Deedplanner freezing up as he finishes mapping. He says the map is so big, a Pastebin link can’t be created. Plus…it also corrupted his map. FUCK!! That means he came out here for nothing! “…Fine, then I guess I’ll have to do it myself” I thought. But in reality, that thought never came to mind and I had completely forgotten he told me this. I just love it when I say “this is what I should’ve thought (if I was smart)” -vs- “this is what actually happened..”.

He then asked me to see a bridge he planned at the mouth of the ‘canal’ thing. Was nice, and I could fit my Knarr under it. It was nice and all. Then he told me he would need lots of iron to build it. Uhhh.. isn’t this supposed to be temporary? I told him I wanted a gate infront of the mouth, and mentioned that I was told boats can pass through it.
Still, I decided to show him the iron vein that Pryath and I found yesterday. He said he was going to make a forge there. After he did, I told him how I never do this (and always just haul the ore back to my forge in my house). Though he convinced me that having a forge in a mine will allow him to make more lumps while mining (instead of waiting for them to smelt). That’s a good idea, IF you had a big order for nails or something. So he’s mining, and I feel “I should help him” and ask, then head back and grabbed my pick. Little did I know, I would regret this (and it would bring back memories of JK-H(of being part of a village)).
Started helping him, thinking “with two, we’ll get done with this project quickly and he’ll get back to mapping!”(again, I had forgotten he told me it failed). And then he walks away, saying “keep mining while I go find another entrance that isn’t blocked with a vein”…uhhhhhhh. WHAT?! Me, do work, and not know how much iron we need?! I’m thinking “Dude! I NEED this Iron to grind Blacksmithing, and he wants me to mine it out?!” I even said this to him earlier, and it’s like he forgot! But by this time, it was 5:30pm (half an hour before dinnertime…but I’ll make an exception), and I decided to say “hey, I need to go” and left. I don’t think I’ve ever said this as a gamer, but Thank GOD for being close enough to dinnertime! 😀

Coming back, I saw this ‘Lathe’ person near me, talking to Saint. He too had a wagon (but rare). I scrambled to introduce myself to a possible new neighbor, but it was like Saint was acting like an annoying ‘3rd wheel’ by talking to him about the planned bridge. The way this guy was acting (asking about the bridge and stuff), I felt “oh crap..is this guy friends with the people that used to live here? I have to find out!”
Finally I was able to speak to him directly, praying Saint didn’t tell him much about me or what we’re doing here…I want that to be my job, not his. While I was talking to him, Saint is PMing me stating about “someone’s snooping around the area” and to consider fencing the area in. He couldn’t be talking about Lathe here, who seems like a really nice person.
I asked him if he knew the owners, and he said “was always emty since Ive been on cele”. That’s the second person who has claimed this, which means it’s likely this place disbanded a year after I had re-founded Oceanside Retreat in 2015 (or maybe disbanded before or by the time I came back to Wurm).
He also said “mostly it’s dead here”. Heh, not as dead as the NW side of Indy.

Moving on, I came back to the mine area and noticed he managed to unearth a Zinc vein and a cave wall next to it (which means we’ll have access to a fully-fledged mine soon enough). After that, he told me his alt died to a wolf. I decided to go fetch him and did. While I was there, he told me he found four horses (which means I’ll have four horses for my wagon). Back home, he asked me where was this tar pit I found when I was exploring the area a few months ago. Used the wagon instead of a single horse (was a mistake).
Couldn’t find that tar pit anywhere. Very strange. Did run into several mobs..including trolls (with one who nearly killed me). His alt was able to heal my mediums, which is always good. This is something I may possibly think of ‘hiring’ B2 (or another created alt) to be a Priest alt. Again, ‘may’. Having to pray everyday, feels like a chore.
Also passed by a good-sized field of Lavender bushes. Half of them had a sprout, though. Then we went home. I told him there’s another tar pit near here, and went to go dig it myself. Soon I was out of earshot (out of his local), and just started cussing up a storm wishing I never asked him to come down here and stuff like that. Made it to the tar pit, and crashed into the shoreline. There’s a ven croc just staring at me, doing its idle animation. It’s like it wasn’t actually ‘seeing’ me, yet I knew as soon as I disembarked from my boat, it would engage. So I engaged it, just to make sure it wouldn’t be a problem. Killed the croc in four hits. He’s telling me (via PM) how it takes him from 2 to 20 hits to down one.
Hop out of my boat and ask him how much tar does he need, and get about 30 and head back, telling him where the pit is (again), if he needs more.
Came back and gave him a ‘present’ (the croc I just killed). He’s telling me that he hasn’t found a bladder in two days.
As I’m talking to him (via Team chat as he’s on the other side of the lake), Lathe comes back with an alt, telling me he’s going to use it to try to cast Courier on the mailbox for me, but fails to do so and heads off. Did tell him “thanks for trying” and all. Saint comes back after hearing the news, and I hand him the tar.

Then he asks me “so are you going to deed here or not?” I kindly remind him of the mapping job I STILL..need done, and he claims he already gave it to me. He reminds me what he said earlier of the map corrupting on him, and I’m shocked..again, completely forgot what he said. I don’t even think I was paying attention fully.
I’m feeling “..Okay, fine. I’ll just plan it out myself” and he says “if you had a deed here, it would be done easily”. I remind him how I don’t have 5s to found one. He tells me “its more than 5s”. Sudden depression starts to fill my head and start asking him “6.5s?” “….10s?” And he says “i think it was 7 or 8”
I’m thinking FUUUUUUCK!! This is going to take EVERYTHING I have on this (including what’s left in my token back home)!! I tried explaining the exact reason why I came here, and what his role was in all of this. But, I thanked him for trying to give me a proper mapping. He asks me how much silver I have, as if he’s going to help fund some of the cost. I told him that I think it’s about 2.something silver. And he actually says he’ll give me 5.6s if I give him like 2700 bricks. I told him “fine, but after I establish the deed” and he said he would help me with it. So that’s good.

He makes a deed stake, and I decide to head to the middle. I was curious of how much I would actually need to found this place (which…I should had done in the FIRST place, the more I think about it). I manage to get a size of 29×29, which covers the entire area I want to deed. I have Saint help calculate everything up for me of the final step, and he tells me the grand total: 13.5s. Oh. my. god. I closed it out, without a word, and tell him to keep his money. I just can’t take that measly amount (no offense). I understand that’s all he could spare at the time, but… ugh. And then it went from bad to worst, of him suggesting I could make it smaller and still get it. I didn’t WANT it if I can’t have it that big! Go big, or go home. And… I was about to, and do my “not log in except to pay the upkeep” thing again.
He tried to convince me not to give up on this place, but it just went in one ear and out the other. He tells me to just not include the canal thing, and I tell him the thing is the reason I wanted this place.

He said to just repair my boats occasionally…
Then it’s like I went over to the drama barrels, picked them up, walked them over to him, dropped them down, opened them up, and covered him in drama…telling him “I don’t even know why I play this game. I hate working. I hate repetitive tasks.” etc etc. Yet instead of feeling greatly annoyed for having two full barrels of drama dumped on him, he seemed …compassionate, claiming he too hates the same thing I do, and tries to get his allies to be his slaves or whatever. Yet, I call BS (the more I think about it). If he’s anything like me, then why did he say “I’m going to make tons of forges and see if I get a rare one”..or even cook meals? Both of these, I would NEVER do (unless I feel I needed to)! He’s NOTHING..like me. I would never even THINK of making mass amounts of items unless I needed to (such as over 1k planks for my house).
Anyway, that was it. I told him I was going to go home and think about this, and then come back tomorrow. He said he would stay here and make forges. Good for you, because I would rather get a tooth extracted than make an unknown number of items in hopes I get lucky with RNG. He then suggested that I go explore Release, that maybe I might find a place even better than this. Then he left, and I went home.

Back home, I thought about it. I claimed I would possibly be more proactive with this new place…haha, right. it would probably be no different than what I’m living in now. So, this is possibly the end of this thing. Does it mean that I’ve decided not to move there? I dunno. I will check out Release, though…but, I decided I was going to come back and convince him to come to my deed, and show him what hell I’ve been going through since I came back to Wurm. I thought “maybe he might have ideas on how to make this place better..even for the docks”. It felt like a really good idea at the time.

Operation: Cele move – Day 1

The day has come for Saintdouglas to start mapping out the area for me! …Unfortunately, that never happened. Why? I actually wish I had an answer, though I believe it was many things.
First off, before I got on and was in bed, I had an idea of getting my alt over to the area and using him as a ‘range marker’, where him and I would walk one tile while getting closer together, and when we’re facing the same tile, that’s the midpoint.
After breakfast, I put the idea into action. Got to the south canal and went through, docked, and started planning. Soon we had found the exact point of where the token would be!
He sailed home, and I asked Saintdouglas if he was ready to come and was. He soon found the area. Showed him the midpoint, and he told me that I was off. So my plan has failed. Then he told me a normal deed is actually 11×11, instead of 10×10…which has been the reason why I’ve gotten thrown off so much yesterday. Then he tells me how the token could go anywhere. After then, he acts like he’s planning; walking back and forth and stopping. I’m trying to protect him, since he’s wearing cloth gear. So at this time, I thought it was just going to be a matter of hours until he was done. Then he suddenly yells out “WHY DID THEY DO THIS”, pointing to how one area is lower then the rest.
And then he changes from ‘just work with it’ to “I can lower this whole thing if I had a wagon and some crates”. Look.. dude. Let’s worry about that AFTER I come up with an idea for this place..alright? I asked you to please map it out, not to flatten the area. He’s acting like I’m ready to move right now.
However, for some reason……the above statement I said, NEVER came to mind! I said how I have a wagon, and crates, and went to go get them. However, I thought it was just to fill this little area up. When I finally got home and asked how many crates we would need for this, he said only bring empty crates. Again, was NOT thinking of the reason he’s there (and what he’s doing for me). He also said to bring iron for nails to make more crates.
Had to utilize B2 again for this (of him taking my horses back afterwards). Went to the abandoned deed north of me and grabbed the iron ore out of the BSB there, and with B2 doing his task of getting the horses back home, I went back to the area.

Arriving, I noticed a lot of felled trees (though I had given him permission before). I assumed this is all part of leveling the place, and just went with it. He also forgot the fact I only found one horse (and the wagon needs two), he started making a large cart. It took a lot longer than his “real quick” claim, but he got it done. Gave him the horse I found so he can move around in it faster.
I’m still wondering why he only needed empty crates (except as I’m typing this is why I wondered..instead of then). Is he..thinking of tearing down the hills to get the dirt? This isn’t what I wanted. Again, let’s wait until after I figure out what goes where before we do this.

The next major thing that happened, as I was felling trees, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t able to fell a lone pine tree until I noticed the Poison damage being done to me; I was trying to knock down the tree that has a bee hive. “Ehh, whatever.” I thought, as I remember being told before that if this happens, to not worry and it’ll pass. He said he was going to make a bee smoker to take care of the hive.
The poison went away a half an hour later. Told him about it, and then he scares the crap out of me by stating “you know that can insta kill you if you arent lucky right?” …Insta-KILL?! WHAT?! I stood there, shocked (yet trying to keep my composure), and then asked him “Even a light wound?” And he says “every healing tick it rolls a die, and if you get unlucky you die”
That’s a fantastic rhyme and all, but WHAT THE FLIPPING FUCK?! This is NOT what CA HELP told me when I had that bee hive in my deed (and tried to Open it)! I explained to him exactly what they told me, thinking “OK, this has to be BS.” Yet he claims this comes from the Wurmpedia. I…OY. Never thought of asking that chat channel about this at the time (or even looking it up). All I could think of was “hoooooooly fuuuuuuckkk” (feeling like I’m ‘the luckiest man in the world’ for not insta-dying).
He then left to go hunting for a hide while I continued felling trees. Should’ve helped him (because he’s a clothie)…but I never thought about that. Plus he never said “you wanna come with?” or “I’ll need your help”. Though as I write this, I assume he thought I was too busy to help him out.
10 minutes later, I get a PM from him..asking me to pick him up at Tap Dance(the starter deed for Cele). *facepalm* Says a hell hound got him, so I immediately stopped what I’m doing and set sail (actually thinking SMART for once). Enroute there, I see another horse (this one’s swimming). Quickly maneuver over to lasso it with the only piece of rope I had (B2 has the rest) and continued sailing to Tap Dance. Picked him up and sailed back to the area. But yay, now I have two horses, so I can finally utilize my wagon!
Getting back and parking, I offered to help him (so he can get his stuff back). Met the hell hound, and dropped it in two hits. He recovered his belongings and thanked me, and I protected him as we headed back. He wasn’t able to get the hide he requires, and mentions his alt will be coming here with a bee smoker and everything he needs (plus a mailbox for me). That’s very nice of him, I thought.
Continued with the tree-felling, and he’s trying to manually level down a small 2×2 clay mound. Ahh, clay. You just don’t FUCKING know when to FUCK OFF, do you? You’ve been a bane ever since I moved to Oceanside Retreat, and its grayness is now here at this potential new deed. It’s like a festering rash that you can’t get rid of.

His alt came and gave him the bee smoker, and now this pesky bee hive is gone! Yay. Glad Tulsi wasn’t there. Knowing him, he’ll be trying to “prod the bear” by poisoning himself to death. 😛 I did tell him in Skype, that dying has consequences (aka skill loss). I can only pray this stops him from pretending he’s Superman by trying to ‘jump’ off of one of the ramps (and failing horribly). But I doubt he’ll learn from what I said. I pray he will learn, though.
Back to the area, Saint’s alt also casted some strange spell on me(Priest alt), claiming that’ll make me move faster. I…wasn’t really seeing it. Later on, he asks me “where is that rock tile” (referencing to the only rock tile I saw of a potential mine). When I showed him, he said it wouldn’t work because it’ll be underwater (and of the angle, a cart won’t be able to enter). Hmmm. Taking the good with the bad, but that’s the point of starting a new chapter in my Wurm life, right?

The hunt for a mine was on, with me checking by land (via horseback) and him checking by sea (via his alt’s sailboat). Saw Pryath again in local, and tried to get them to disclose the location of mines they mentioned yesterday. The directions were..quite confusing and vague. The person’s telling me “there’s a mine e and s that I hit thats near a tower”..WHA–?! I get ‘e’ is ‘East’ and ‘s’ is ‘South’ but the rest is unclear. I don’t know the layout of the land that well (but with time, I will) and asked if they could possibly show me where these mines are. And thankfully, the person was willing to show me.
I followed them around, but the person was also confused of where the mines are (on this side of the lake). We met at the canal ‘turn around’ thing, and the person told me there’s mines on the other side of the lake. …Ugh. But, if that’s what I’m going to have to go through, so be it. I’ll make it work.
Managed to find two mines around the abandoned deed on the South side of the lake (one was sealed up while the other was opened (yet there was a rock wall in the way of the entrance)). The person then escorted me to the East side of the lake, and found a mine with really good quality Iron ore (nearly 80QL, which is PERFECT for getting my Blacksmithing up). The only problem…is the vein is blocking the entrance.
Still, this isn’t bad. I mentioned to the person that I could plan out a road to wrap around the lake, and the person said that I should also add a small bridge over the canal entrance. Never messed with bridges before..but HEY! New start. New chapter. Let’s TRY something NEW for a change!
At this time, Saintdouglas is PMing me stating a suggestion to put ‘your main building’ on the hill (and ‘leave the raised part there’). I kindly reminded him “that’s what the planning phase will be about”, and “All I need is to map the area.” What a really nice, polite way to say “do your damn job”, huh?! :\ I tried my best to keep my words from sounding at all like that, then he said he would call it a night and “ill be here tomorrow tho”.

And here we are. As soon as I get done publishing this post, I need to get home, load up on crates, and fill up the lower bits of the area myself. It’ll be less for him to do, and it’ll get him done faster. It’s a win-win!
I feel like we wasted a lot of time clearing the area trees (which to me felt unnecessary for just dropping dirt in places). Again, I don’t know if I really WANT this area. I have absolutely no idea how I’m going to plan, or what buildings should be built. And that thought is starting to scare me. Ok, I lied, I have a ‘few’ ideas..but nothing that would tell me “yes. Definitely move.”

.
A ‘small’ update. Got 3k of Dirt going to the area (which should be more than enough). I also grabbed the remaining rock shards I had (he mentioned he needed shards, which started the whole mine locating fiasco..well now he’ll be getting some).
Back at the area, I fixed the uneven parts. I also flatraised the spot with the single rock tile (since it’ll be part of the road). Lastly, I leveled down a section of the higher part of the area (to make it the same height as the rest of the high parts).
I can clearly see how I’m going to have the road wrapping around the future deed. I’ll also -try- to have an extender that’ll connect to the main highway (that links to the South coast) and points West). How well that extender will be placed, remains to be seen.

Pretty much, I’m ready for him to do ‘his job’ of mapping out the area for me in Deedplanner. If he needs more terraforming to be done to get a more accurate mapping, I will definitely assist with that. But really, I want him to understand, that “your job is mapping the area… mine is everything else” (without being rude and disrespectful). I actually feel I need to come on rather quickly, before he ‘helps’ me again. “Leave the planning to me, OK? I know you want to help, and I definitely respect and appreciate it, but..this is my project. The only reason why I asked you to come all the way down here is to please help me with mapping out the area in Deedplanner.”…again, without being rude/disrespectful.

Operation: Cele move – Pre-planning starts now

Brilliant title, no? But I’ve reached the point where no deed redesign is going to satisfy me..I have to move. Since coming home, this is the only thing I can think of that’s keeping me from leaving the game altogether (or giving people on the Wurm forum some tasty tears to drink (and the popcorn they’ll have of me asking “why am I still playing”)).
The song “I Bet My Life” from Imagine Dragons works perfect with this, except for a ‘few’ edits to the lyrics.
“I remember when I told you that I would never play again. Remember that you broke me down to tears (with your ‘wogic’)? I know I’d played solo which is clearly wrong for me, and you gave me hell throughout the years…..”
“So WHYYYYYYYY, DO I PUT UUUPPPPP…DO I PUT UUUPPPPP…DO I PUT UP WITH YOUUUU-UUUUU..UuuuUuuu?! WHYYYYYYYY, DO I PUT UUUPPPPP…DO I PUT UUUPPPPP…DO I PUT UP WITH YOUUUU-UUUUU..UuuuUuuu?!”

Moving on, I’ve weighed the options several times of either moving to Cele or staying in Indy. The main reasons why I haven’t gone gung-ho (after I first saw that really awesome, secluded spot), is simply…I don’t know if it’s worth throwing away 5s to found a deed. The mounting “what if”‘s are also another reason (with the main one being “What if I don’t like it after I plan it out?”)
I’m taking a gamble, and I just don’t like the odds (especially with my reputation of never being happy with what I have built). If I could get my money back (after disbanding the deed if it doesn’t work out for me), then I would had went for this a long time ago. 5s is a lot to just throw away on a 50/50 chance that what I try to plan, would (or won’t) interest me.

However, I feel (well felt at the time.. not anymore(not without serious help)) that I have a chance by using Deedplanner and map out the area, then from my current deed, I would plan out what the place would look like. With this, I would finally know if this move is a good idea. The only bad part with the program, is there’s no Day/Night option (to simulate where best to put lamps, and how many). It also won’t simulate shadowing of trees and buildings (which to me also factor in to the overall ‘coolness’ to a deed(such as what trees to be planted where)).
Though I had forgotten one flaw, and that’s to make sure the area is still available!! I haven’t seen that side of Cele in over two months, and anything could’ve changed by then. So I set sail. Tried to find the east canal to get me into the bay. The first order of business was to find a horse. Wasn’t until sometime after passing through the east canal, that I found one near-ish the shore. It took 9 grass until it went submissive; must’ve had ‘strong-willed’ as a trait (or the RNG wasn’t in my favor).
Anyway, with the horse I made it to the other canal, and it was a quick sail down where I saw the area…is still available! Yay. Pulled into the ‘turn around’ canal-like docks. Right ahead in the distance, I saw a troll. This is exactly why I needed a horse.
Got out and attempted to lead to the guard tower that I remember (which was still standing). I also saw a champ goblin. Tried to get guards on the troll, then engaged (and killed) the Goblin. Got some damage (but nothing major), and LT against a nearby spider helped heal it all. Noticed none of the guards were actually on the troll (no matter how many times I called for help). Managed to get a single guard.
Had to assist in the slaying. Guard dies, then the troll dies to my axe sometime later. Did a sweep and made sure all hostile creatures in the immediate area were dead. Time to start planning!
Though while I was sweeping, I saw a single person in Local named ‘Pryath’. Saw this was my chance to ask if they know anything of the area (that could help me with planning). Asked asked if they lived around here, and if the lake once had an official name (aka, part of thinking of the name for the future deed). They told me no(of the name), yet mentions a South canal. A south canal, huh? This proves what I was thinking when I first saw something that looked like one (yet the top was too low for it to be considered one).

I spent all of that day, attempting to map out the terrain in Deedplanner. However…let’s say I knew I was going to have difficulty, but not THIS much. There’s no way to have a custom-sized new map; it always defaults 50×50, and any attempts to shrink it are pointless. So I tried to work with what I had, trying to match the changes in height. Yet everytime I tried lowering the slope of a tile, it was greatly overdoing it. Was feeling the program was laughing at me (and very not happy with it).
Asked in GL-Freedom, praying someone could come over and assist. I then noticed Saintdouglas, the one that gave me several ideas of my deed. I remembered him showing me a plan he was working on for one of his future deeds (which sparked the idea to come here and try myself). I asked him if he could possibly come down to where I am and to please help to map out the area for me, and telling him I’m having a ton of difficulty.
He said sure, but he would do it tomorrow afternoon. That’s great, though I did decided to go back and try to do the work myself. All I could think of was “how am I going to pay, so he’ll feel it’s worth coming here, when I have only enough silver for my deed?” I will talk to him tomorrow about this.. maybe even pay in bricks (or planks). He’ll need to be paid somehow for this work he’s going to do.

Overall, I got fed up. Did figure out (with his help for telling me the correct option to use) how to lower the slopes to a specific point, but I just got…mmm. I can see this taking hours, by hand, having to hand-recreate the area (and it probably won’t be fun for him either). Tried to think of other options, such as attempting to find the midpoint in both directions (of where the token would go) and then go from there. But even that was hard, because I got to count X amount of tiles in all four cardinal directions and make sure they’re even numbers (at least a 10×10, which is the default size given when initially planning). Having to remember ‘the power of 2’ is important when it comes to keeping things symmetrical. At least, that was the days when deeds (that were called ‘villages’ and ‘homesteads’ back then) had to be perfectly squared (I’ve just been sticking to this ‘rule’).
I counted, re-counted, and re-re-counted tiles over and over, and then divide them by 2(to attempt to find the center of the two numbers), yet it was either “a tile isn’t the center point(it’s the border)” or “haha, you can’t divide by .5 without getting .75!!”

Going by the tile counting, the overall size of the land (including roads), is 31×39 (except this doesn’t factor in the power of 2, which is why both are .5 when divided). In order to fix, the two would have to be 30×38. Tried to go smaller (using where the shoreline is one tile in the lake as a reference point), and got a size of 26×28(which does use the power of 2). Now we’re getting somewhere!..or so I thought.
Somehow I was getting thrown off in my calculations, because I kept having a tile border be the center point.
Was at this for a good half an hour, wracking my brain over this BS (while also having a hellhound and a black bear try to kill me for getting into their aggro radius). Decide to just say “fuck this”, slapped down my tent, tamed the horse, got the gear back (incase of a server hiccup while I’m gone..I don’t want anyone passing by assuming they can get lucky by taking the horse and its pricey gear). I know lockpicking isn’t allowed on the Freedom Isles(minus Chaos), but I don’t want a “WARNING..BUG WITH LOCKS!!” server-wide thing coming up(like what happened with locks on cave dwellings). Just..making sure.

I’ll try to tackle this again tomorrow. All I need to do is fell a few trees and use the logs as markers. Then and only then will I be able to have an accurate measurement of the mid point (and then start planning around it). If I get done before the guy shows up (and I pray he can give me an exact copy of the land), I’ll move the edits I made to his version.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Pristine (Day ..(No))

Honestly, I feel this is the worst server yet (and it hasn’t even been the full day). Here I thought Exodus was bad…at least it had a map of the roads/bridges/canals! It may’ve not been a good one, but it was still a map. This is one of the reasons why I haven’t tried to get a better deal on re-imping my gear months ago.
The map maintainer doesn’t play Wurm that often, plus he’s going on a forced vacation away from the game ’till September (he says he has no AC..yet it says he lives in New York City), leaving no one to take over for updating the map.
I asked him, if he would consider adding the things I feel are required for a helpful map for explorers (the things I mentioned earlier). He claims “I do this on my own time and I don’t get paid for this blah blah blah”…when did I ever discuss payment? My response wasn’t rude at all, plus someone defends him, telling me “there aren’t that many canals in Pristine” and “the map dump does a pretty good job showing the roads”, which is what I went through with Exo.
I’m stuck with this damn thing, though. And don’t you fucking say “true explorers don’t need a map!”. I don’t want to hear it. I explore MY way, by knowing where I’m going at ALL times. If only Wurm had an optional SPS(Server Positioning System) that I could use.

Getting to Pristine, took two attempts. First time I felt I was ready and had everything, got there, saw a Ven horse…then realize I forgot horse gear back home and had to go back and get it. As for that horse, I decided to try to find a younger one (that won’t die on me). Yet so far (and even while on the inner southern shore), I have yet to see a horse. Did see a hell horse, and a named horse with no saddle(yet assuming someone owned it, I didn’t bother to go over and examine).
I tried to ask for a better map, asking in the most nicest and formal of ways I could think of…only for me to be called a “needy ass” by ‘Beastwolf’. Great way to welcome explorers, pal. I’m glad I wasn’t a new person asking that, else I’d feel like quitting and never coming back. The resemblance to what happened in Exo is..uncanny. Both this guy and the last one were rude to me, and had a ‘rude against explorers’ community.

I also been having an ‘issue’ saying things that were meant to go to me..in the public channels. The most infamous one was “…HOW IN THE FUCK did I get turned around?!” in GL-Freedom (instead of Local). I’ve taken the steps and pray this finally fixes this issue (by disabling all of my Tab key’s options). Did greatly apologize for my actions in that channel.
Just another day of shaming my favorite mythological creature with this nonsense, and yet wondering why no one respects me. I’m always the one who gets shitted on by the people who play it cool (and get all the respect).
I guess I just ‘haven’t found my calling’ in my Wurm life yet (other than being something that is shamed by the community as it doesn’t pay the bills(as there’s no real skills in exploration… other than “hit stuff with huge axe and don’t die”)).

.
So the rest of Day 1 was delayed because I wanted to watch Dire’s latest Let’s Play video. Surprised he hasn’t gotten into a void world yet. Just waiting for Sol to rise. Hopefully things will get better (and I’ll find a horse).

And…screw this. I went back home. I am so pissed off. The reason why I haven’t found another wild horse, is that they’re rare. I asked a group of people in Local, and they told me the server has no Steppe, and it has some sort of bug affecting wild horse spawns. So that is what made me say FUCK YOU to Pristine.
A shame. I wanted to make it work, but clearly this server doesn’t want me. Sorry to let this die so quickly, but I need a horse to be able to eventually explore inside the server. And I refuse to pay 40c for something I cannot use outside of this server.

“IT’S OVER!!! :D” / The re-imping offers

HIP HORRAY!! The LST is OVER! NO MORE being forced to play ED on a Wednesday! NO MORE boring meetups!! NO MORE expedition leader that I can barely understand(yet everyone else has no issue)!! NO MORE having to attend the Euro meetup because no one comes to the US one(because it’s late in the afternoon)!! 😀 This is the best day ever.

.
Back to the harsh reality of Wurm life, where two people have responded to the thread I made. One says it would be cheaper to get the chest and pants re-imped, as most damage goes to them (in PvE). However, Jaz gives me a better offer, saying he’ll re-imp my entire set to 80QL for 50c (reason being as most pieces are 70QL). That is fantastic, though I wish I could had gotten this deal a LONG time ago!
Still, I accepted his offer and asked when he’ll be on next to mail him my set. I could sail to Xanadu (where he does business) and personally hand the set over to him (in order to save on mail shipping costs), but I assume he’ll be busy with other requests. Plus the shipping cost is only 1i per item. That’s not that bad, and I won’t have to deal with getting lost (or the wind being a troll and changing on me).
It would be easier on my part to just mail them from the safety of my deed.

And that’s what I did, and got them back after dinner. So it’s off to Pristine now; the island of many islands (another reason why I haven’t been exploring).
He also told me that it’s actually untrue of Copper being more pricey than Iron (as it’s just as easy to work with). Perhaps a recent update changed this, or I was lied to (and the person was going to rip me off). But it doesn’t matter, because all pieces are 80QL. Now I don’t have to feel like mobs are trying to deliberately get themselves killed to lower the QL enough (through frequent repairing) to be too weak to defend myself.

A new expedition? / Switching gears in Wurm

Alright, so I got a lot to talk about in this blog post (and a mean a LOT), so let’s get down to it.
First off, the LST (Local Sightseeing Tour) ends in 12 hours from the time of this post, and I’m super-physicked…to finally be DONE with this stupid thing. However, I feel the final meetup is going to be quite interesting. And that’s mainly for the fact I’m now on the moon with the fastest orbiting period in the game. Even going here, is nuts! This thing is faster than my ship in supercruise!
I had to let it catch up to me. I also saw there’s a Crab Nebula Expedition tourist beacon. Damn, do I feel bad for not participating in this. To have a tourist beacon in the honor of the EDEX, is pretty awesome. But what is really wild about this moon, is it’s parent planet eclipsing the system’s star every 45 seconds; how it goes from daylight to “HOLY SHIT I CAN’T SEE!!” in an instant. Finding the LZ with that happening, was quite the challenge.
To say “the best was saved for last” is very true with this mini-expedition.

While on this subject, I did say how I was never going to be a part of another one until FDev fixed their shit. That was until I saw a link to the ‘Land of Giants Expedition’. From what I read, it’s to explore the giant stars in the galaxy. This definitely has my interest, as I feel “you’ve seen one star you’ve seen them all”. To see these super and hypergiants (some that I’ve yet to see in this game), this would be a good time to warm up my Conda and get it ready.
This expedition is being hosted by the CCN, which means I have to head up to “the second bubble” which is Colonia. I am trying to figure what this “hold-up time” means on the official page on the Frontier forum by asking on the expedition’s Discord server, but so far I haven’t received a response.
The expedition launches on July 9th, which would give me plenty of time to get back to our solar system and fire up the Conda.

.
Back to Wurm, as I said I’ve switched gears. I lost the desire to give a fuck about the boat docks (they do their job, and no one’s really going to give a fuck what they look like), and care more about getting my gear reimped at a price I could agree with. I’m having those “why am I paying for something I don’t enjoy” feelings again, and I GOT to get back out there and explore! But I can’t, when my gear needs to be re-imped.
There’s the two options, of either paying for it (which I believe is 10+s), or…going through the LONG and agonizing process of grinding the skill up.
Doing the second time, requires discipline to have the insane urge to stand infront of a forge for hours a day.
In a forum post, I tried doing the “I will pay by making bricks” thing again (in order to offset the cost). Yet I bet I’ll either get “bricks aren’t going to pay for my deed” -or- “thanks but I can make my own(with much higher quality)”.
The fact this game refuses to have the phrase “easy and quick” in how to start going about getting the skills I’m requiring to imp to 80QL, I’ve considered..maybe possibly temporarily giving B2 control of my deed and joining another deed (in order to help hone in on the skills).
I feel I would be better prepared, if I had help (because everything would be available to me). Maybe even to the point I wouldn’t need the Impalong anymore. Yet I just don’t feel that anyone would take me in…just to do this. They’ll tell me how to get started on my own.
The fact my mine has no Copper (or at least I haven’t found any yet), I can’t even re-imp my gear. Plus the Iron I have, sucks (it’s only ‘Normal’ quality). Yet what sucks more, isn’t the fact I need high weapon and weapon smithing, but a high mining skill in order to get high quality lumps. The last one alone, is deterring me from even starting. It’s bad enough standing infront of a forge…but standing infront of a cave wall and constantly select the Mine option. I HATE repetitive tasks (especially clicking the same action, or hitting the same macro key)!!
This whole thing is simply because of the way I was raised up as a child. When everything has been given to me over the years (and I feel I never had to work for anything)…. then suddenly it stops and “you must do the work yourself” confronts me…, FUCK that noise! And this feeling is why people ask “are you new?”. And as much as I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from ever being talked into Wurm by Angry, it’s not going to undo it. Believe me…I tried, SEVERAL times. It’s impossible to erase the memories (good and bad)!
However, unlike real life, I don’t mind working with other people (yet only for one time). As long as they only ask once, sure I’ll be glad to help. But if they make it a habit…go ask someone else to do your ‘slave work'(which is why I’m no longer a Mod on the MRT Server). Single tasks, to me, feel much more enjoyable than repetitive tasks (which is why I enjoy questing in an MMO more than doing Dailies). As long as it doesn’t feel repetitive, I don’t mind doing it. Sadly, Wurm is full of repetitive (especially ones that take days of non-stop effort) tasks.

So as for this whole gear re-imping thing, I got my options. There is another one…but it’s the lazy (and shameful) way, of waiting ’till the Impalong and let them do it for free. But maybe I can go in there and say “for 6 months I’ve been too poor to pay for all of this to be re-imped” (while lying by saying “I’ve been too busy to get my own skills up”..which is the ‘shameful’ part).

“Job’s done!” – One busy week in Wurm

I lost count of the activities on and off the deed for the past week (not to mention what day I did them and when I did them). Completed the in-deed work (including widening the main ramp to three lanes, and having trees in the middle), had to buy 5k dirt for 4.5s. I also bought a wagon (something I’ve debated of needing for years), including getting a ‘rune’ for it so I could load a BSB (I also got one for my Knarr that makes it 7.5% faster in wind and 5% faster overall). Also, Tulsi’s now active in Wurm again. He’s gotten a new graphics card, and claims the reason why he’s not been interested in Wurm was because of the lag. He claims he’ll be active more often, and that’s fantastic.
For the first time, I actually made something for someone (however in exchange for two meditation rugs instead of paying 4s for them). Plus, we had a pretty nice (nearly ‘life-changing’) discussion about Chaos (of what they could do for me, if I wish to “throw away” my old Wurm life).
And finally, I found a named horse that I’m currently trying to find it’s owner. So…yeah. Wow. Busy busy!

The main thing of all of this, was to (hopefully) have my deed in a way I wouldn’t want to consider moving to another server (at least not anytime soon). Finally got done with the main deed part yesterday. The only thing I haven’t done yet is the docks, which I’m still debating over several ideas on how to improve it. These ideas also affect possibly widening the side ramp to two lanes.
So anyway, I explained the semi-boring parts at the top of this post, so let’s get to the ‘life-changing’ part of this, first I joined the (IMO) un-official Wurm Discord server. I still wonder why I joined it, when 90% of what’s going on is related to the Chaos server. I expected a better Discord, one for PvE and PvP discussions. Instead of being in a room with PvPers, talking about who killed who, kingdoms, and stuff like that.
Now there’s this guy, named ‘Angelklaine’ who I promised to make 100 bricks for, in exchange for two 90CoC mats to start grinding Meditation on (and eventually be able to turn Grass into Enchanted Grass(so my horses won’t turn it into dirt)). He feels this is a better route to paying for something than using silver, and I have to agree. It feels much more rewarding than “paying your way out of problems” with this game. Infact I feel more people should do this. Not only does it have more of a community bond(something that’s been lacking in Wurm), it helps raise my skills. That’s a win-win.

Moving on, I decided to pop in the Independence voice channel, as someone was in the Deliverance channel (thought I’d play along), and this person joins the channel about five minutes later. I have Elpis playing in the background to not bore myself to death of doing everything on my own, and I suddenly hear a “hey” coming through my earbuds(it was pretty late). Close it out and quickly respond as to not show I’m AFK or ignoring him.
So this conversation goes from what he’s doing, to a discussion about the Chaos server. I decide to tell him what people have told me, that as soon as you cross, there will be an awaiting group of assholes to jack you of your stuff. He says that’s not exactly true and it’s just false rumors. He then asks me “are you new to the game?”
… I think I would be rich if I had a dollar everytime someone said that to me. What the FUCK is it that makes people assume I’m new?! The fact I bitch about the tiniest of things in this game that somehow get on my nerves? The fact I refuse to put in the hours (even weeks/months/years) of effort that the majority of Wurmians know they have to in order to get stuff done (even CD knows this and still goes with it)?
WHAT?! … Oh, I already answered my question? Ok.
In a way, I’m glad this isn’t The Sims Online..because I still remember Skill Decay being a thing(when it existed).
He also adds in a near-convincing way, about if a new player was to join the Chaos server and a good Kingdom, they would more than welcome them (by giving the person everything they need to survive). The group this guy is with is extremely friendly, and the guy said they would do the same for me. However, I would have to literally throw my old Wurm life away and start a new one, putting B2 in charge of my deed. I… UGH! That’s NOT ME! SURE they could actually help me unlock my true power as a Dragon Warrior (by helping to kill other players), but is it worth these drastic changes of throwing away all the memories I’ve accumulated over the years?!
I…like being a dragon nomad. I enjoy the quiet, and I get ‘my Social need’ from talking to Freedom and GL-Freedom. Yet….. this STILL raises those old drama questions, such as “why am I paying for something I’m obviously not enjoying?”
Plus he tells me, dying in PvP isn’t as harsh as PvE. As in, you don’t lose nearly the skills, plus the fact your kingdom would supply you with the gear you need in order to fight (and then do it again after you die), there’s none of that “I’ve lost everything. FUCK this game!!” feeling. He also adds I would never have to make my own stuff as the kingdom will supply for me.

I…I dunno, guys. Life is changing infront of me (both ingame and even in real life), yet I don’t want it to. Yet if I don’t change, I will continue to be asked “are you new?” The way I act, and the way I bitch about everything that gets in my way.. why wouldn’t they wonder? And how long will it be until someone tells me that hated statement: “maybe this game isn’t for you”?
He also states “we want new players to join Chaos”. Then how about telling the devs to change the server name to ‘Sunshine Land’? Who in their right mine is going to want to join a server named “Chaos” (unless either they’re curious, suggested by friends, or sick in the head)?

All of these thoughts about Chaos stuck to me like glue, even while I was trying to focus on building the deed. And….I can’t. I’m not a team player, and I like the challenge of living on my own. Sure, it’s had its moments were I just leave Wurm for several months (even five years), but I can’t just throw away this life. Of course, by doing so, I’m an ‘outcast’ from Wurm society. No one gives me respect (yet I don’t really do anything to earn it either). I keep hoping respect is earned from the way I act(even though I ruin it quite frequently), instead of contributing to the community (aka joining the bulk selling market).
I don’t mind helping out the occasional new person (as long as they don’t make a habit of doing so).

So… moving on, as I said I got the main deed done yesterday, and did the brick request by throwing in 100 bricks in a large crate (one of the crates I was given of the 5k dirt I purchased). However, he wasn’t ready to accept the trade just yet, so I tried to get ideas for the docks in the meantime (using DeedPlanner). Wasn’t really satisfied with the look of the docks as I had planned. Though, I also had someone come to my deed and poured transmutation liquid on three Clay tiles in order to ‘kick’ it up to the north (in order to do that mentioned widening of the side rap).
I tried to make a canal-like thing and wrap it around the guard tower. That worked, but again I just didn’t really like it. I’m going to be forced to ask for help yet again on the forum (but just for the docks).

While that was going on, someone started asking in Freedom that they needed help getting to a specific point in the Northwest. Asked what they needed to go there for, and there was mention of a lost horse this person trying to find.
Since no one wanted to volunteer to go all the way up to Colossus Lake and pick up this person, I thought ‘what the hell’ and decided to assist. I heard all day, that CD was contributing to the construction of a highway. Guess this truly proves that if I want respect from her, I got to earn it (which was the main point of doing this). What, you really thought I was doing this because it’s a nice thing to do? I’m a dragon! And there’s a female dragon that needs to be impressed with my kindness. 😛
(Really, though… I just want her to respect me)

So I set sail to Colossus Lake, passing by the coast. Then I noticed something..different. The coastal deed that I always pass by, is GONE! Like..completely gone! There’s still the archery tower, but no structures. Holy..hell. Guys, I think I just found “Oceanside Retreat 2.0”!! 😀
Continued following the coast. Soon I reached the canal connecting to the lake. Got a bit lost trying to find this person, but with a bit of help on their part, I found them and picked them up.
The person asked me “do you always save damsels in distress?” I…greatly kept myself from RPing there (as a dragon usually is the one holding the damsel in a castle). Now if I can only find a castle and claim her as a hostage! Let’s see if any knights in shining armor want to slay me. lol.. but anyway, I said how “it’s just the right thing to do”. And really, I was being sincere. Yet, I had no idea this same person was related to the guy I’m paying with bricks instead of silver (until much later).

Delivered her to where she told me (which had a few other people). She tried to reward me, but I declined it. What I just found was payment enough. Sailed back, but instead of heading home to show B2 my findings, I decided to check them out myself (just to see if this place was even worth slapping a deed down). And honestly…no. At least, not without heavy modifications. Still, the place is a looter’s buffet. Surprised this area wasn’t picked clean earlier, as it looks like it’s been abandoned for a month or two. Got a 72QL small anvil (this will replace my old one nicely), a meditation rug, and they also had 92 iron ore in a BSB (at a pretty good quality)! I had to leave it there, though, as I had no cart to load up the goodies. They also have silver and bronze lumps.
There was also this mine, with a gate infront of it. One of the walls blocking the gate had decayed away. Told myself that if I went in there, there would be a high chance I’m not getting back out without asking for GM support. But I took the risk, climbing into the mine. I also tried to go back out to see if it’ll work, and it looked good. So I went on in. A fuckton of BSBs in this VERY large mine. There were a few mobs in here, but nothing I couldn’t handle (I was geared up for a reason).
I didn’t really explore the mine that much, fearing I would run into a troll and not be able to escape. Checked out some of the BSB’s, and there wasn’t really anything of value. Did find a lamp in a forge, though.
Was time to get out of there. I was ready to head home and show B2 what I found. Prepare to climb out the same way I got in….and my fears were realized. I was stuck! It was like there was an invisible wall blocking my attempts of escaping. Faced the gate blocking my way and examined it; it’s 62QL with very limited damage. GREAT! JUST..great! My maul’s back home, so I attempted to bash the fence down with my 2H Axe…and it barely made a dent (while putting a good-sized one in the axe).

Tried to think of how in the hell I’m going to get myself out of here, reminding myself of back in Gold 2 of when angry got stuck in this same mess, that he had to call for support to get him out of there. So I tried myself, and the minutes turned to hours. Sol is going down, and I’m losing faith I’m going to be rescued by a GM anytime soon. Got B2 on to go get one of my horses, and sail over here. Yet it was so dark by the time he set sail and made his way up to me.
By this time, I was actually teleporting between the fence and the mine…..and a troll shows up. I’m thinking “ohh, this is just perfect. Being humiliated by a troll as he bashes me into a fine paste.” However, since I was literally stuck, the troll somehow didn’t ‘see’ me. However, a wolf showed up and started biting my ankles, and I couldn’t defend myself. I logged off, hoping my character would log out and save myself from dying to it. B2 showed up, who had no idea there’s a troll lurking around.
Logged back in, and found myself in the mine again. Wolf’s gone, and I was no longer teleporting. Saw B2 appear, and he called for guards to deal with the troll (as I couldn’t). He got my horse over. The idea was hoping I could at least lead then ride in order to ‘glitch’ out to freedom….sadly it never worked, and I was forced to wait longer for assistance. By now it’s pitch black.
Finally someone responded, but wasn’t a GM (but a CA). Suggested I try the ‘Town Portal’ option of using my stored Karma. Had 1907 (with 1000 required to teleport), and was able to get myself out of the mine and back to my deed. The CA warned me that what I did, a GM isn’t allowed to assist (I went around a locked gate into a mine). Told them that this wouldn’t happen again. Thankfully I was able to keep my looted items.
That was really, really embarrassing. Decided to keep this a secret from the community (because it’s that bad). B2 went back home with my horse, I hitched a ride back to go get my boat and we went back home.

.
After that unpleasant predicament, I had to get over to Cele’s south side to complete the delivery of bricks to Angelklaine. He was shocked that it was delivered in a large crate, but told me that this is ok. I told him that I had plenty of crates back home (so this isn’t a major loss). Got the rugs, and then simply went back to Indy. Crossed over and was heading back to the NW side, and saw a horse swimming near a shark..yet this horse was named. Did the best thing I could do and lead it back home, then made a forum post after I assigned it a pen in order to hopefully contact the owner.
Though, I feel I’m overreacting (as usual) to this, as the horse has no armor (or is even branded). If this horse was owned, it would had at least been branded. Whoever owned it, didn’t care for it anymore.
The fact it was near the northern server crossing, I assume someone thought they could take their horse cross-server (and ultimately failed). Or, like my previous “didn’t care for it anymore” theory, left it there for dead deliberately.
Whatever’s the case, they have two weeks to contact me (or I claim it as my own).

And…that’s it. Been a crazy week for me (as I stated before). Who knows what else could happen?
