My final VRChat based blog post
==============================================================
Some of you have been messaging me, asking how I feel with the shutdown of
the VRChat mod community. Time and time again I have referenced the blog post where I talked about what happened, with my full opinion. So I want to make the record straight here. This will be, my final VRChat based blog post.
The crazy thing about this entire shitshow is you can come up with multiple theories and most of them might have the chance to be true, such as mine saying the VRChat team always had a vendetta against mod creators. However ThrillSeeker’s latest video, his own theory and opinions (not fact), do help to shine some light on this. He feels investors are to blame and not the VRChat team, while you could say “the VRChat team didn’t have the balls to go against their investors”.
However, the last time I looked I never got a degree in what it means to run a successful business model. So I don’t label myself as an ‘expert’ on this. But the ones that have, seem to back up one of my theories. If this is true or not, I do not know. But, I feel that these investors are now starting to crack down as they aren’t getting enough from
the VRC+ money. And the VRChat team knows this well. They are not idiots, and I was wrong for saying they’re incompetent. They’ve been monitoring the situation for a very long time.
What happened this year, may’ve been a thing called ‘Audit Finding’. The company (aka VRChat Inc.) got an audit report that likely made the company panic. If it’s because the investors aren’t getting enough money back on their investment, I don’t know (as I said I’m no expert). But after it, the company made their game ‘investor-friendly’. This was a gamble they knew it would pay off at the end. I mean, so what if it caused a mass exodus of players from their game? So what if it left a bad reputation on the current playerbase? They’re big enough to ‘take the hit’, knowing they’ll get Meta Quest users to join (which is where the real money is for them).
The VRChat team, are not idiots. They knew what they were doing. They knew the risks and knew players who never used mods will still play (like a handful of my friends who still do). They (the remaining players) probably see this mass exodus as “welp, have fun with your DEAD social VR games!”
–
And they’re probably laughing even more with the death of emmVRC’s attempt of doing a private VRChat server, which would had ran an earlier version of VRChat (before EAC was introduced).. getting slapped with a cease and desist letter (with a real threat of lawsuits against anyone in the US responsible with the project).
Also in that message, the VRChat team might be cracking down on avatars flagged
as NSFW content. All for the investors. ..Capitalism RULES, doesn’t it?!
And if you’re still harassing the VRChat team over this… stop. Stop the doxing and sending them death threats. I don’t like them either, but threatening their lives isn’t the way to go about doing this. By law, it’s illegal.
Best thing for you to do (as a VRChat user), is to try to convince your friends to leave the platform. And also if any one of your friends (and/or yourself) is paying
for VRChat+, cancel the subscription. The moreĀ VRC+ subscriptions canceled, the less money they’re going to get from players.
This will be the only way to make them pay for what they’ve done.
The VRChat team has made it very clear, they’re not going to undo EAC. They have said this multiple times. Infact it would be even worse on VRChat’s part if they did, as they might be seen as “going back on their word” by their investors.
The game itself doesn’t need to die. The dev team needs to be replaced by people that actually care about player feedback, and take it over investor money.
Which is why, I’m officially moving to ChilloutVR as my ‘go to’ for a Social VR game.

Moving to ChilloutVR
==============================================================
Right now, all we as players can do is wait for ChilloutVR to complete their infrastructure rebuilding (which could take weeks from now). Once this is done and they’re fully ready to welcome in all of these players, let’s make it where the game gets as big if not have it surpass VRChat’s concurrent playerbase.
Plus, they welcome mods (and NSFW content)! They actually care about their playerbase instead of their investors!
But we all could be speaking too soon. Will one day in the future, 5-10 years from now, the devs just suddenly stop listening and completely reverse their promises? That is possible. Yet let’s pray it never happens.
As for me though… I don’t feel motivated (at ALL) to move my stuff over to CVR. Basically I fucked up. Had Kovo’s world and BTD 3.5 ported over during the Closed Alpha era, but I deleted the old Unity project folder thinking I’ll ‘never need it’.. but I forgot the files of these two things are there, and BTD 3.5 alone is having issues ingame. Somehow it
got ‘auto flagged’ for NSFW content, yet there’s no NSFW content there. And it refuses to load even though I have all content set to show.
A simple reupload might fix it… but without the files I can’t, and I don’t feel like doing that all over again. Same for the world.
But, if bored enough I will. I just need to know if Av3 Emulator would one day be compatible with CVR. Kind of a necessity for JeroWorks, especially if I’m able to port it over.
Only one thing I.. kind of like yet also don’t at the same time (that is new to me). So when you want to publish your avatar, you can’t just do it like you usually do in VRChat. You have to log into your Community Hub, and then file out a ticket and wait for them to check your upload to see if it’s against their TOS, before you’re allowed to upload it.
The added security to prevent crashers is good, but for people like me.. this feels bad. They might not allow me to upload JeroWorks because of the file size.
…And how is that going to work if you need to do edits to it?
All I can hope for is there’s variables to this bullshit which will allow you to upload similar to the way you do in VRChat, such as how long you’ve had your account, how much content you’ve uploaded (to be ‘trusted’), and/or if it’s an unlocked account.
…Because if I have to do this every. fucking. time (wait for big brother to
say “approved”) when I need to make changes to an avatar, I’m going to want
my $7.99 back for the unlocked account (or tell them to shove it up their ass if they refuse to give me a refund).
Can you really blame me? I don’t think so. You’d get pissed too with this
constant hand-holding just to make changes to your avatar. Don’t lie to me.
