“We’re so SCREWED!!” -Me / “You never bought an avatar? What?!” / A world kills my sound / “Thank you, Benie.” -Novice

A day of more PTSD from Sea of Thieves, but not what you’d expect. And more antics in VRChat. Plus a world that somehow killed my sound.

“We’re so SCREWED!!” -Me
=============================================================
With what I told MIBIT what I wanted to say about how I “need more time” and how he needs to stop feeling so restricted with timetables, we didn’t play Sea of Thieves until 8pm. Mainly because;
1. I was having those conversations.
2. We couldn’t play anyway at the normal time as MIBIT suddenly had to eat at 5 instead of my time.
3. Doordash fucked up by not understanding I wanted an order done on Friday.. instead they’re doing it now. Plus they got my burger wrong and I had to wait for that shit.

So we finally played at 8. This time we gathered from barrels instead of buying the stuff from the alliance merchant. I was checking the map in our Sloop and..

Hello red flag!! Told MIBIT to wait, since this guy would be right here with us by going our standard path to the blue beam (far to the west). This took nearly an hour of continuing to load our ship while watching the position of this hostile ship. One time the ship seemed like it had run into a rock or something, sitting there but occasionally spinning itself around as if it was looking for something or being attacked by another ship.
Us looking both at the map, I said “if we go south, and then go around that island, and then turn SW to W, we should be far south enough to clear that asshole.” He liked the idea and we finally set sail.
Another time… it POOF’d. No more hostile ship. Either they sunk, the crew logged out, or they switched their flag to not draw attention to themselves anymore (possibly/or to trick people).

We reach the island and make our turn, continuing to go south. I see a storm near where the blue beam is. MIBIT thankfully understands about them and knows how to stay away from the core of them. Suddenly, battle music begins to play. A skeleton ship emerges on our starboard side. I’m all “What the HELL?! WHY!! Emergent skeleton ships only show up if you have a lot of treasure onboard!!” MIBIT tries to keep the ship steady while I ready the starboard cannon.
We manage to sink it without too much damage to our ship. Tell MIBIT to look for the debris, but not seeing it anywhere.
5 minutes later… more battle music. This time it’s a fucking GALLEON skeleton ship on our port side! Ohh fuck, we are so screwed!! It opens fire with a cannonball volley, turning our ship into swiss cheese. I quickly run below deck to repair the hull and bail out the water, my mouse hand shaking from the adrenaline rush. I go back up top.. and I’m seeing another Galleon skeleton ship on our starboard side. So we have TWO Galleon skeleton ships attacking us!!
I yell to MIBIT to man the cannons while I try to keep this poor boat from sinking, trying to keep myself focused on that task. We run into a rock, but I don’t care much. I’m only trying to keep us from sinking. ..Then somehow, the two Galleon skeleton ships suddenly change course and leave us. My nerves are still shot from the experience. I
ask MIBIT “what the hell happened?!” he says “we were being calm instead of freaking the fuck out”.. speak for yourself!! He chuckles.
More battle music plays. We’re not moving and I’m frantically looking all over the ship trying to figure out who wants to cause me to have a mini heart attack, but we see nothing coming our way. I try to collect my thoughts and say “let’s just get to that blue beam. I don’t want to be out here anymore”. He understands my fear of dying in a game.

As we’re heading towards the beam, I look behind me (was up at the crow’s nest at the time searching for any player ships on the horizon), I see that cloud ship in the sky.
…OHHHHH!!! So that’s what happened! We accidentally drifted into the battle area! I do remember something on the lines of ‘Battle for the Sea of Thieves!’ showing up on my screen before that first skeleton ship showed up, and noticing its sail was different than what I had encountered solo after doing Chapter 3. So that wasn’t a true emergent skeleton ship. Got it! Now it makes sense!

For the rest of the adventure (outside of seeing ghost ships happily swimming around to our South as we approach the blue beam).

We had no issues doing Chapter 2. No players this time, and were able to complete it. 🙂 Err I wouldn’t completely say “no issues”, as MIBIT had the key to access the Chest of Everlasting Sorrow. But he acts like a lemming and follows me as I get myself stuck and auto-teleported to unglitch myself, and loses the key.
Mmm. Honestly, good thing. He’ll likely be all “Ooh rare treasure! Let’s bring it onboard the ship!”.. like I was when I played the chapter with Wolfdog (not knowing it can sink ships by filling them up with water, and there’s no OFF button).
Made it back to an outpost safely. Despite that very scary encounter with the two Galleon skeleton ships, we somehow survived as MIBIT was being calm. Thankful, as I couldn’t.
Both of us were pretty much ready for VRChat at that time.

“You never bought an avatar? What?!”
===========================================================
Was still in the call with MIBIT as I was strapping on my trackers. He said Sparky is trying to invite him to that 90’s bar, and knows it crashes me due to its post processing effects (or something, I still don’t fully know). So he tells Sparky and the two meet there.
I finally get everything on, including my new USB Type C charger cables for the
controllers (got today from Amazon). They work surprisingly well. Very happy. The longer distance allows me to calibrate while keeping them plugged in. Very awesome. Now I don’t have to worry about them not having enough charge to get me through the night.
Got in and did my initial calibration, then joined MIBIT. Sparky and EXGAMING were both here. MIBIT said EXGAMING bought a new avatar and is trying to upload it. But since this is the first time he’s ever used Unity.. hoo boy.
I would had named this section to something more relatable to that, but you’ll see why I chose this one (with time). Anyway, MIBIT and myself both tried to guide him. He didn’t know he had to get the SDK (or even the fact he needed to have it installed before the avatar).
Yet from everything we told him, he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. It had a bunch of missing scripts, so I suggested he’d do a clean install of the avatar, giving him a protip of how to find what files are what using the .unitypackage file.
Decided to ask him what avatar he bought. Forgot the name, but we started talking about avatar stuff. I said how “I never bought a single avatar”. EXGAMING looked at me in shock, asking “you never bought an avatar?” MIBIT said “nope, he made this” (pointing at mine). Uhh.. no? Explained where I got it and how I had help to customize it in Blender.

Finally, he found the issue– he was using Unity 2019 and the avatar was still using Unity 2018. Ohh dear lord. Talk about false advertisement. Not to mention, the avatar claimed it was “remade for SDK 3.0”.. yet it still uses 2.0.

He paid $40 for it. lol. Why pay when I’m happy with BTD 3.5?
Said he would fix it later, him starting to get really tired and went to bed, leaving us
alone.
Though I wasn’t really in the mood at the time (thinking someone else would want to see us) until a bit later.. and sure enough as we were doing it, RedJoker wanted to see me. But I ignored it until we were done. Tried to accept the invite but it’s like VRChat wasn’t allowing it to push through. Was weird. MIBIT said it’s because the instance is invite only. Riiight, that makes sense. Anyway, I was bored and wanted to go see some friends. Saw Inari was on and wanted to say hi.

Helping a streamer / A world kills my sound
=============================================================
We arrived in the world. Quite a lot of people here. Didn’t realize why until later. There are two people that were streaming.. thank fuck I didn’t have my *beep* out. One of them suddenly tells everyone they’re looking for two people that will follow them to beat their BF in a bet. Inari ran over to me and MIBIT asking us if we could follow the person.
I didn’t feel interested in helping at the time, as I don’t care for streamers (I only care for Youtube videos, as they aren’t 2-3 hours long and it just gets boring). But I felt “ugh.. fine fine, if it would only get you off my back! Geezus.”
So I tried to log into my highly inactive Twitch account to follow this person. And Twitch was being a pain in my ass.. didn’t want to remember my username and password, so I used the way I do it. And then it was all “ohh, you haven’t logged in for awhile! Please type in (number by number) the six digit security code sent to your email!”

COME ON, Twitch!! I’m just trying to help a streamer!! So I painstakingly copy and
paste every. single. god damn number in the boxes and FINALLY fucking log in!
MIBIT followed the person and the person’s all “one more, chat! Just one more!” And I’m frantically looking around for the damn Follow button on their Twitch page.
..And uhh. For some very odd reason, I’m already following them?? The hell? I’ve never even met this person, let alone ever remember following them! Thankfully for them someone else follows them and they win the bet. I’m happy. 🙂
They head off, leaving only one streamer left. I also remember Spitfire arriving in the world and nearly everyone there (except for myself and one other person) runs over to him and says “look at the cutie!!” lmao. That’s what he fucking gets for saying he’s not cute.

Oh, and there was also another time when someone was at my crotch height and MIBIT was there with me, and he was all “hey back off he’s mine. He’s my boyfriend” (referring to me). *clears throat* Ohh MIBIT, we need to talk. And I reminded him of what I said earlier today. He was sorry for saying it and “I will not do that again”. I sighed and
said “you’re fine hun, but I did tell you I’m not ready yet”. He said he forgot, and I told him I understood and gave him a big kiss. He was happy after that.
And finally.. Novice showed up! “Perfect!! Now I can explain what I meant better!” I thought. Eventually found him and tried to motion for him to meet me upstairs so we can talk privately. It took him awhile but he did. And as I was heading up.. *BRRT
BRRT!!* went VRChat, D/Cing on me. It did this twice. Fucking desync issues.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The second time when I came back, I noticed I wasn’t hearing anyone speaking after Kovo ran in and started patting our heads and ran back out. Noticed I couldn’t hear him. I asked Novice if he was speaking. He nodded yes.
I could hear their avatars, but not anything else.
So I closed out VRChat, thinking that’s all I needed to do… and I noticed I couldn’t even hear the sound SteamVR makes when switching monitors. So somehow either the world or VRChat itself, broke SteamVR’s sounds. HOW?! Plus, VRChat was taking forever to shut down.
I was forced to get up and restart SteamVR, and that fixed it. Got back ingame. Novice was gone and MIBIT ran up to me, asking what happened. Explained the situation and he assumed I had to do a restart of my computer. No, but thankfully that wasn’t needed.
I focused my attention to Novice, explaining the situation to him as well. I half expected him to explain why he arrived in the world, but said he too crashed and was coming back on.
MIBIT wanted to cuddle me. I had to say “I need to speak to Novice in private, alright?” He understood. I was hoping to just go on and speak to Novice in here but… mmm. There was a good reason, as how loud he was when he spoke. Plus he was in full body, and lagging. So I said “we can go to your homeworld and talk about this, since you’re
lagging” and I didn’t want anyone to hear him talk about something so.. personal to him.
=============================================================
“Thank you, Benie.” -Novice
=============================================================
Told MIBIT that I was going to leave and talk to Novice in private, that “it won’t be long”. It uh.. it was longer than expected. *cough cough that’s what she said* Let’s just say I didn’t fully expect it.
I more expected him to be a bit harsh on me, feeling I was “being untrue” to MIBIT by even thinking about what he said to me. But thankfully that didn’t happen.
Before I explained myself, I wanted Novice to have time to fix his defiant full body tracking that was giving him hell suddenly. And then I explained the situation of what is the definition of an ‘unofficial’ relationship, and why he misunderstood it. He was definitely confused, but more of how I tried to explain it in the DM I sent him in discord. So I did my best to clarify what I meant, and he thanked me for doing so.
He said the reason why he showed up was mainly to see a few people and then hop off as it was pretty late for him.
Now I didn’t think about this at first, but now I am. If that was his only reason, why was he in full body?

Hmmm. Usually he only gets in full body when he feels.. frisky. So uh, don’t lie to me Novice.
I know why you showed up.

…don’t you Novice? And he’s like “well, I have time for a quickie.”

Knew it! I know you too well for you to come on in full body just to visit people. Unless he actually was doing that. I dunno. Who knows.
All I’m going to say is he said he “needed that”. And he said “Thank you, Benie.” *smiles* I told him “whenever you’re in the mood, let me know. I love doing it with you.” He said his classic “Yyyeeee..” in a happy, relaxed tone before hopping off.

.–.–.
Footnote time! While we were doing our quickie, Garath took this time to mass invite me again to Mystery Skulls, even going as far as calling me in discord. I ignored every single attempt he made at pulling me away. When Novice logged off for the night, I then switched to the SFW version of my avatar and went into the world. The horrible lag I got the day before was gone, but the mirrors are still broken.
Well fuck. Then pulled up what Garath was trying to tell me and he was begging me to fix it. Still feeling a bit worn out from the quickie I did my best to type in: “I did upload it, but yeah the mirrors are still broken. I’ll look into it tomorrow. Hopefully I can fix it.”

Back in the previous world (which had less people in it), I went over to Kovo and explained the issue with the world. He suggested to delete the mirrors and replace them. Good idea.
I’ll place a mirror in the world and see if the bug happens. If it doesn’t then clearly the mirrors are broken. But if it still does… ohh dear.
