Ok. This is late. By two months. But god damn I thought it would never come, and this game would follow the same fate as DNF.
How did I find out? An unlikely source. Facepunch! It was from a famous news bot called RockPaperShotgun. I’ve heard of them years ago, but didn’t know anything about them.
They mentioned something about “Optimus Primed: Rig’n’Roll”. Curious, I clicked on it. As I was reading I suddenly stopped breathing when I saw that magical word.. released.
My reply was “Oh fuck OH FUCK OH FUCK!!!”, yet I wasn’t convinced it was released, so I didn’t buy/download it. I found it extremely hard to believe.
A game, that had little to no updates for a few months, and something I’ve been waiting since .. 2005? Was finally released?
Seriously. I thought I would never see the game’s release, in my lifetime. I remembered back then I had such a shitty computer. Worrying about those system requirements.
It wasn’t ’till now when I decided to check again, and found out it wasn’t a dream. IT WAS ACTUALLY RELEASED!! 😀 Yet.. I thought, “Bah. It looks like it’s for Europe only!”
So I decided to ask around in the 1C forums. Sure enough, it was also released in the US! You just have to buy it through their official site.
It costs around $36 in today’s Euro>USD conversion. That’s surprisingly cheap for a game that’s been released just one month ago. I thought it was going to be around $50.
Downloading turned out to be a pain. I had to use this recommended Free Download Manager they provided me with. Thought the issue wasn’t with that, but the download speeds itself. Sometimes it just stayed at a crawling 250 KB/s.
And two times it was at a mind-numming 56K speed.
But I got them, and I just installed it. Staring at the new RigNRoll shortcut on my desktop, I still cannot believe it has finally been released.
Well. I can now do what I’ve been wanting to do since I saw the map.. start in Reno and go all the way down I-80! WOOT!!! 😀
A pitty I can’t find any good emoticon that would really show how happy I am.
