Upgrade to Windows 7.. to do it or not

For as long as I can remember, XP has been my friend for years. It’s the best thing out there for gaming.

Now we got Vista, and 7. XP is now an outdated, ancient OS. Yet, I love XP for not being evil to me. However, there’s this one game.. this one rogue game that wants to be a little bitch and BSOD on me, for no reason why. It’s Fallout 3 — the very game thought that kick-started my lock up issue.

With my lock up finally beaten down like the bitch it is with new hardware, there’s still a problem with this damn game. After seeking several things to isolate and fix this issue, and several video driver updates, it’s still not fixed.

Talked with Fishy. He said I should upgrade to Windows 7, 64-bit. I’ve seen people having more issues on these newer OS’. Such as Fallout 3 BSODing, other people have reported it, but run Windows 7 or Vista.

I personally have no desire to want to upgrade, nor do I have the cash. I see it as XP has worked beautifully as my OS for years. So as they say, if it’s not broken don’t fix it.

However, if the response I get from the tech support people I got ahold of recommend I upgrade just to get this one game to work flawlessly, then … well I’ll still have to think about it. If there was a way to test drive Windows 7, I would. Something to show me the features, and how more superior they are compared to what I have now.

From what I’ve seen, Windows 7 isn’t really designed for standard home computing that XP has. More like for mobile use. It has more features for on-the-go people, and seems to have less for sit-on-their-asses-and-do-nothing-but-play-games-all-day people.. like myself. This is probably why Fishy likes it, because he’s always on the go.

Still, I need convincing to upgrade.
