It’s been two weeks from this day when I got a new motherboard and video card in a final, desperate attempt to fix my lock up issue. So I should report if it’s locked up or not. Usually, two weeks is the critical point.
Well, since the freeze in Mirror’s Edge, there’s been one other time it has done it, like a lock up. Playing Synergy with angry last week. The HL2 campaign. We played all the way from the train station.
We got to the part where Alyx tells you to defend her to bring the generator down and open this big door, when she gets captured by the Combine and taken to the citadel.
As she’s explaining, angry’s talking about how she has to enter 9,000 lines of code to bring it down as a joke.
Suddenly my screen freezes and I hear looping sound, then it stops. Screen still frozen. Again, keyboard/mouse not responding. Have to turn off manually. Now before you “Oh god no! It’s back!!”, I believe it was just a fluke caused by angry’s server.
You see, his computer isn’t too good, but it gets the job done. I believe something must’ve crashed Synergy, but in a way froze my system like a lock up. It seemed more like a crash than a lock up.
We managed to get done with that part, and do Episode One and Two with no problems. Well, except the fact I was having a few minor graphic glitches, and drawing distance issues.
What I mean by the distance issue, is when it finishes loading, I see what looks like a wall of fog infront of me that quickly dissipates, showing the level.
So anyway, that’s all I have to say. I typed this out on the 22nd. Hopefully by the 26th when this gets published, I will continue to have no major issues like my lock up.
