Game Engine: *Unknown*

Genre: 2D Side Scroller/Shooter
Youtube Game Review: https://youtu.be/brzo1Wri61E

As most of you know, Xeodrifter is one of the three games that appeared for Playstation Plus users for free, for the PS4. Yet for some reason, the main page of where I go to find out what these games are and to download them, never appeared. I had to look on my computer. Even at that, it seemed to refuse to add itself to my PS4.
That was until late last week, when I checked and tried again (after getting the demo version of another game that I will be reviewing soon), and this time it finally decided to work.

Well, this game is another 2D Side Scroller. Almost like this month is “Retro Month” for PS+. The plot is simple. You play as this little red guy who’s just cruising through the universe in your little pod-like ship. Suddenly, a strange asteroid comes out of nowhere and takes out your systems, flinging you into a system with four planets.
Though you and your ship survived, somehow it’s taken out your warp drive core and you need to get it replaced(as it’s the only way to escape the system). You scan these four alien worlds, and soon have impulse power. Here, you, the player, can steer the ship to any of these four planets. Then you dock (as in orbit) with the planet.

What’s cool about this game, is it doesn’t force you to make choices(nor force you to stay at a particular place). There is no tutorial. You can just say “you know what? I don’t want to go down to that planet!” You can do this. The game gives you that freedom of choice.
So here, you can save your game (the only way you can, besides boss checkpoints), and you can beam down to the planet.
Again, the game isn’t going to tell you “Hey, uh player? That planet there? I wouldn’t go there.” Again, it’s all your decision. Though I personally, if you get this game and reading this review, to go to the Green planet first (as it’s the least punishing).

Once on a planet surface, there are things you can kill. But it’s best if you avoid combat (unless you absolutely have to, to get a thing out of your way). The reason why I say this, is the only enemies I’ve seen are boss and mini-boss fights. There are no enemies that attempt to harm you(however, they can also impede your progress). This is why you can bypass instead of engage.

Now, this game has a life system (as most games do) as displayed at the top of the screen. You start with three lives (or chances). After the 3rd, you die. Though this game has infinite lives. That’s good. Yet what’s not, is the lack of adequate checkpoints(areas that save your progress for those not in the know). What I mean by “not adequate’, is it’s unlike other side scrollers that have invisible checkpoints at certain points. Those kind are very, very helpful.
To put it in perspective, it’s similar to Super Time Force Ultra. Yet minus the whole time traveling (and having to worry about time limits). Yeah, no time limits, so you can take your time.
That game has a lack of checkpoints, which is what I’m trying to say.

Moving on, I mentioned how there’s bosses and mini bosses. Mini bosses are actually more annoying than regular ones. They all attack quicker, and it makes them more deadly. There’s one planet (I believe the blue one), of this bat.. owl-like thing that makes slashing, almost unpredictable movement. It’s hard to land a shot on it (and not take several yourself).

The boss itself, I… personally, I wish they did more work on (as in, the variance of them). Every boss looks exactly the same from the last one, except they use a color which is the same color of the planet you’re currently on. My guess, these are planet guardians. This actually would make sense, as to why they all look alike.

For boss fights, it’s very…VERY important that you study the fight mechanics. If the boss looks like it’s kneeling down, it’s preparing to jump in the air. If the boss looks like it’s backing itself into a corner, it’s preparing to charge at you.
There are also these hidden moves, which involve the boss jumping off screen and phasing into the screen behind, to either heal itself or charge a powerful attack that you have to dodge.
The boss is pretty much a big jumping/dodging/shooting thing, that can last for awhile.

If you manage to kill the boss, you’re rewarded with an ability. There are four abilities in total, which each one bound to one of your X, Circle, Square, and Triangle buttons(four planets, four useful buttons on your PS4 controller). For example, you get the Submarine (which is bound to your Circle button).
Oh yeah. One last thing I forgot to mention before I wrap this up and go for my final review. Near a boss room, you’ll see these strange spike things that come out of the ground and go in one direction until they hit a wall. If you shoot them and collect the drop they leave behind, you can gain your lost chances back. It’s important you get to the boss with full health, and a steady controller.

.
Anyway, I’ve said my peace. It’s time for my review(the word ‘lack’ is used a lot);

Good
-The game doesn’t ‘hold your hand’. You are in control.

Neutral (these aren’t “Omg, shit game!” complaints)
-Serious lack of control options (no way to turn down the music. I had to mute it in order to make the recording possible).
-Brutal lack of checkpoints. But as long as you’re careful and pay attention, you’ll survive.
-Wish there were different bosses, with their own unique abilities. However, I will accept the whole “planet guardian” theory.

.
Final Verdict: This is surprisingly a very fun (and equally challenging) game, mainly due to the game allowing you to go back to your ship at anytime (as long as you’re standing on the teleporter at the start of the level). I would definitely recommend others try this. It deserves a go. It really does.
This is one of those “last but not least” things. And I feel it’s going to have a spot on my “Benie’s top 10 favorite games of 2015” list, in December.

Surprise! Two new videos coming today!

So, late last week, I finally got the last game of this month’s free PS4 games from PS+ (Zeodrifter). I also got a demo of a game I saw Dan play. And I also remember seeing this game way before he did and thought “Wow, that is so cool”.

Both videos are actually going to be an experiment. Firstly, I got a brand new 32GB USB Flash Drive (a stick) from my local grocery store (it was the last one of that size that they had). And since the PSN is currently having connectivity issues as reported by Sony (through Twitter), I’m going to be uploading the videos from my computer instead of my PS4.
The actual experiment, is playing with Sharefactory to make my first 30 minute(or close to it) video. Thing with Youtube, as long as you’re partnered with them, there seems to be no limit to the length of a video that you can upload(even if it’s two hours). This could go for the future of my ‘Benie Fails At’ video series.

Anyway, I better get started with the recording. See you in several hours.

Benie Fails At: Killzone Shadow Fall (Chapter 4)

Another Saturday, another three videos. Wait.. did I say three instead of four? Turns out Chapter 4 isn’t as long as the last two. So I was able to copy/paste Part 4 into the very few seconds of Part 3 (which is the ‘player holding onto a rope while following a stolen Dropship’ scene). You will notice a slight frame change, but I tried to make the transition as seamless as possible. And personally, I feel I did a good job.

I had also thought that this was going to be five parts. I was wrong (again). Anyway, I’m rendering Part 3 now. Also I found out a way to not have to do all of that annoying deleting of PS4’s intro/outro things. I can de-select them and they won’t show up.
So it looks like I’m starting to get a little more familiar with using ShareFactory. This is good. I can use this to actually, instead of having four parts, to make them two instead. But I want to know what you guys think about this. If you’re OK with having more than two parts, then that’s less work I’ll need to do. But if you do want only two parts (two 30 minute videos), please let me know and I will do them.

Also, instead of posting the videos directly in here, I will be showing them on the website instead. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve updated it to include last Saturday’s videos. I will be giving the links to the videos on Youtube, here instead. This will cut down on post length.

Right. Sorry for the late upload. My PS4 was having issues uploading Part 3. Repeating issues with the Playstation Network (even though there was no reported issues with the network itself). All I needed to do was restart my PS4 and it worked.

Still doing post-editing(description/annotations/links), but I want to get these videos linked to here. I’ll be updating the website after completing post-editing.

Benie Fails At: Killzone Shadow Fall (Chapter 3), here we go again!

The long-awaited Chapter 3 has been recorded and uploaded! And once again, Part 2 gave me issues (and it wasn’t my sinus issues this time). This time it was me being a derp and forgetting where things are (since enclosed areas + forgetting where to go + recording = editing in Sharefactory). Also did some nice transitions, and remembered to cut out the intro and outro that Sharefactory does as its theme.
But this time I did the videos earlier to get them out for you guys at 4pm, instead of later in the day.

Unfortunately I had issues trying to upload the videos, due to errors with the PS Network being supposedly overloaded today. Of all days, why when I got videos to upload?? Ugh. Can never depend on them 24/7. But, things break all the time.
Though this was never something I factored in when choosing to do this. Guess I have to now. Just another hurdle to jump over. Eventually I can jump over it, only for several more to show up in the distance (hence the delays).

Right. The videos are currently processing. I’ll post them here as soon as they’re done and edited to include descriptions and annotations.
EDIT: All done. Had some fun with the annotations of Chapter 4. There’s a few more things I need to do with the videos, but they’re low priority. Getting these videos out is higher. Enjoy!

Animal Crossing: City Folk, what I’ve been doing so far

I believe this is Day 4 of my save. I want to do a 365 day playthough (which means an entire RL year of playing it). I’ve learned a lot, given for the time I’ve played.
There’s even one animal I really…..really like. Yet she doesn’t seem to, well.. notice it. Her name is Victoria. She’s a… horse. A race horse. And no, this doesn’t mean I’m a furry! 😛
I just like her peppy attitude. She doesn’t let anyone stand in her way. And she calls me ‘sugar cube’. That’s pretty cute. Though other animals are also starting to call me this. Now it’s starting to get disturbing. Almost like they’re making fun of a human child liking a horse-like person.

Oh yeah. On Day 2, I paid off my 19k mortgage! Compared to other Youtube videos (which were done back in 2012), I did it a lot faster than they did. Of course, I probably also had more free time on my hands.
How I got the money was simple; I sold fish to Tom Nook which went for a pretty penny. I even donated some pretty rare fish (even a Hammerhead Shark) to the museum. I heard fishing is the more profitable thing to use, and they were so very right.

I’ve also been to the city a few times. Quite small compared to the town, but it has a fair things to do. You can get your shoes shined by a skunk, your hair done by a poodle, your fortune read by a cat.. and there’s also things you can buy, such as really…REALLY expensive clothes and furniture (with no guarantee they’re high in quality). You can also watch stand-up comedy (and get special emotions).
And last, but not least, there’s the Auction House. As far as I know, no one seems to use it. You can put things on sale, yet I don’t see others things there.

And lastly…I also now have a pure hate for Tom Nook.
He tricked me into allowing him to upgrade my house (after I paid my 19k mortgage). He made it sound all so sweet, and I was all “Ahh, awesome! This is what I wanted! More space!”
And then, next day, I talk to him as a way to thank him for the upgrade… the bastard turns around and says “by the way, that work I did… it costed you 120,000 Bells!” …REALLY?! He tried to calm me down by saying “like before, you can pay it off at anytime. No rush and no interest.”

I had JUST got done paying off that crap house, only to get into MORE debt?! Why didn’t he tell me the pricetag for this work?! He made it sound like he was willing to do it for free! I just… UGH! I felt like not playing after that. Also, I’m being serious here. I was pretty pissed at him.
Wish I could throw this lying asshole in jail. But unfortunately, a jail doesn’t exist in this game.
Though I should also be pissed off at myself. It was like that fine print that no one ever reads when signing a contract. Because his was “Homeowner cannot sue me, Tom Nook, for not telling them about upgrade price. I am not liable for how gullible the player is.”
I guess I should at least be grateful that he doesn’t charge interest, and demand the payment is made on a certain date (like in real life). He was nice enough for giving me a temp job.

Other than that, I’m getting bored with this game. Though I’ve heard it’s not really a game that one needs to play for hours on end. It’s pretty much a game where you log in, check on your neighbors and make sure the town you live in is still OK. Stay gone too long, and the town goes to shit with weeds everywhere. But again, once you do, you’re free to log off and resume your RL activities.
Yet you also have a mortgage to pay off (again). God damn Tom Nook!

It reminds me of a really old PC game I used to have back in the 90’s (when CD’s were all the rage). It was an aquarium simulator, and it was pretty realistic… almost too realistic. You had to worry about PH balance and all of that stuff (just like a real aquarium). I should know, I’ve owned quite a few 10 gallon aquariums. And changing the water was a bitch.

But yeah, that game is similar to the Animal Crossing series; log in, check on your neighbors and make sure the town you live in is still OK. Stay gone too long, and the town goes to shit with weeds everywhere. But again, once you do, you’re free to log off and resume your RL activities. But still, remember that mortgage. And also the occasional events, like today’s “Bug Off”.

Space Engineers releases their 100th update since launch

Just a little something I wanted to post about. Keen Software House has released their 100th update since the release of Space Engineers. Since I used to cover each and every update before they started shifting to Multiplayer and Survival, I just got tired of doing so.

This update is no exception. It’s focused on the Survival aspect; giving pirate bases and AI drones (made automatically) that can attack you. Also there were changes to the Autopilot system. I didn’t even KNOW there was an autopilot feature! But anyway, this update detects and avoids asteroids and other ships, yet still going back to the specific target.

And lastly, jaw-dropping images of the planet feature that’s coming soon (people want this so very badly). I personally feel it’s going to be a laggy, unoptimized mess. Though I trust their dev team to have it set that anyone can see the planets in HD quality. They’re certainly taking their time with this, which is always good.

And… that’s about it. The autopilot feature really interests me. Wish I was paying attention to the news of when it was announced as a feature.

Animal Crossing: Town Folk – “Welcome to Failvile!”

Welcome to the game of the most awkward control scheme(for a PS4 Controller)! And also real time! Yes, the game uses your computer’s own time and date for the game’s time, basing even holidays.. and your own birthday in the game.
This is a unique game. It simulates community life. You know.. actually helping others (except in a game)? That’s pretty much what it is. However, it’s more of the dark side of life. As in, mortgage that a certain Raccoon (named ‘Tom Nook’) gives you for wanting to own a house.
What, you really thought you were going to be able to own a house for free? This isn’t Minecraft (and there’s also no Creepers). I’ll get more on this cute, but also annoying rodent later.

The game first starts of the player being introduced by Rover, a talking cat. He wants to help you get you on your way to a bus. If you have a saved game, you can use this to load your game.
For people with the previous game “Wild World” from the Nintendo DS, you can move your save over. For people like me, you can start fresh.
Once on the bus, you can set your name, pick your gender by picking the “I’m not a boy!” option(if you’re a girl). After that, you can pick the town name that you’ll be staying in for the rest of your virtual life. I named mine… “Failvile” (wanted to call it “Failville”, but I had to use one less ‘l’ due to a character limit).

After the bus ride, it’s time to discover the very.. very bad way of moving your flailing-armed character around. This is a point-and-click movement game, instead of the standard “left for Left, right for Right” setup. Why in the hell did they make it like this!?
Bah. Obviously, this isn’t that bad using a Wiimote and the Nunckuk attachment (what this game was designed for). I should think about actually buying one of these on eBay. Be able to play these games on an actual Wiimote instead of a controller. Of course, I’ll also have to buy a Bluetooth device and a Balance Board for it to detect the VR signals… wow, that’s a lot of money and hardware, and I don’t got the room. I don’t even have a port on the back of my computer for this Bluetooth device, let alone the space for a balance board.
Maybe a PS4 Controller isn’t that bad. 😛 I did manage to … somehow get the cursor to work. It just spins around like it’s high, and it’s kind of a bitch to control.

Back to explaining the game, you head to the Town Hall to begin the preparations of purchasing your first house. You can pick one of the 4 available houses. I picked one near a river. After checking out the closet-sized house and leaving, this is when you’re finally approached by the Raccoon, Tom Nook. He’s the former owner of these houses, and the owner of a 24 hour store. He wants to give it to you, but then slams you with red tape.. saying it will cost you 19,800 Bells (‘Bells’ are the currency in the Animal Crossing games). Since you’re flat broke, he tries to think of how you can pay off your steep loan… then gets an idea by you working for him part-time at his shop.

First you must meet the locals of the town you named (before you can get to work). For this, you really need to master the map. This is another job for the awkward controls! I have to get my spinning cursor over to the buttons to access the map. The map alone is the bare bones of the entire navigational system. There’s no waypoint system, or a minimap. It’s just you checking the map every so often to make sure you’re still going in the right direction.

So you meet your fellow townfolk who are so happy to meet an actual human in an animal-based town, and hope to be friends. Once you find everyone and head back to Tom Nook, he expects you to wear a part-time uniform. Then you do odd jobs (emphasis on “odd”) for him, such as delivering something and sending a letter to specific animals. Thankfully what makes this easy for me (that the same couldn’t be said if I was using an actual Wii console), I can use my computer’s keyboard to type in the letters instead of flail around with the right stick of my PS4 Controller. There’s a config option of Dolphin (in the Wii tab) to ‘Connect USB Keyboard’.

Anyway, you get these odd jobs done, and then you’re finally on your own. However, you still need to pay back that 19k. Thankfully he’s a nice rodent, and allows you to take your time to pay it off (even not charging interest).
This means you got to get a job to pay off that loan. I expected to actually work longer for him (or working for someone else). But actually, you must literally grind that money by doing things like fishing, and digging for fossils. Both the fishing pole and the shovel are sold by Tom Nook.
And even after you do that (from what I’ve been told), he can give you upgrades for your house to further put you in debt… ouch.

And that’s pretty much what the game is; to simulate what debt is at a young age (and why it sucks). Plus, you can actually go to this unnamed City of where you can buy expensive stuff… for your house. But you can also buy clothes.
And I also heard rumors that you can even help to make the town you live in, look better. And you also have to pull weeds in the town. I guess the turtle Mayor was too tired to hire a landscaper? Why are you suddenly doing it?

It also raises other questions of the ‘Villager’ (the player character’s actual name);
1. Why is a 12 year old (going by his height ingame) living on his own, instead of with his parents?
2. Why did this kid move to a town of animal-like people (each with their own personalities)?
3. Where in the hell are this kid’s parents, and why did they allow this?
4. Why is Tom Nook good at playing Monopoly with the player (throwing you into debt and stuff that a typical 12 year old shouldn’t need to concern themselves about)?

If you want my opinion, this kid is pretending. Probably has a shitty life. No friends. And this is his way of coping with life’s hardships. Notice how these animals are usually so happy to see the player character? He’s designed them to. Yet he’s also gave them free will, able to walk around and even move out of the town if they feel they don’t like it here anymore.
Yet the kid is also mentally disturbed of actually wanting to pay a debt to a rodent who owns four houses that are the same size and shape, and price tag. Or maybe this kid is smart and wants to train his brain to prepare for his real life of when he grows up (which he still doesn’t really need to worry about for quite some time, and just focus on being a kid).
This is all I can think of. Then again, maybe I’m once again thinking way too hard on this and fail to realize “it’s just a game”.

.
It’s now time for my review of this game. I’ll be leaving the issues with my controller out, as they aren’t related to the game itself (nor is it the correct way to play the game);

Good:
-Game time is based on your computer’s clock(or on the Wii, its clock). It even sets the day and month, and even the moon phase.
-Holiday dates are also based off your computer’s clock(same goes to the Wii).
-Plants and trees grow in realtime. Just note you don’t have to wait 10 or so RL years for a sapling to grow into a tree.
-If you have a USB Keyboard hooked up to your Wii, you can use it to write letters and stuff like that. In my case, my computer’s keyboard (being USB), works perfectly.
-(Unknown if you can do this on the Wii), you can cheat the game’s time by adjusting your computer clock. Make the store open again instead of waiting ’till the next RL day.
-If you log into the game on your birthday, you’ll be given a cake.

Bad:
-Save ‘and quit’ feature. How about a Save ‘and keep playing’ one? Are all Wii games like this?
-In the first house size you own, you can’t put furniture down in the attic (where your bed and phone are). I’m unsure if you can in future upgrades.
-(Unsure if this is the same as all Animal Crossing games) Horrible navigational options. All you got is your map. Not even a waypoint system.
-The game’s thing of using your time and date, doesn’t factor in your current time zone (similar to the way a server in WoW does it). It shows at 7pm, it’s dark (when in RL, it’s early sunset currently).
-0/10.. no dragon-like people walking around. -IGN 😛

.
Final Verdict: “This is a game for furries” keeps going through my head. Yet for some reason, I really like this game.
Though I wish there was just a bit more to do, and more animals who have odd jobs for me. Feels like the only way I’m making money is by… well, grinding it. Collecting things and selling them to Tom Nook, or shaking trees in hopes to get a 100 Bell drop from them.

New Super Mario Bros Wii “completed” (somewhat), thoughts

I knew when I was able to cheat, I would be able to complete it. Yet the last two worlds.. let alone the final boss, was made to make you cuss.
Most of the time, it involved using my right stick in ways that Dolphin wouldn’t register (the whole tilt thing with the Wiimote). And also when using the Super Guide, Dolphin would start to studder.

The final boss (aka Bowser), was of course as tough as the level designers could make it without going insane. It’s in two parts. The first is pretty much a throwback of the original Super Mario Bros of dropping Bowser in the pit he’s over. But the second… the second involved a really large Bowser using his firebreath to destroy the level infront of you.
And then there’s the moving platforms… the bane of my platforming existence. I got fed up with dying and allowed Luigi-bot to show me off. And of course, he pulled it off flawlessly.
But just before he was about to rescue the princess, I stepped in and took care of Bowser for good. Then the credits rolled, and the credit section was actually pretty cool. You can run around and destroy the credits. And I of course took my anger out on them. I do feel better.

And then Peach tells Mario about a secret Level 9. Fuck that. I’m so DONE with this.

Benie Fails At: Killzone Shadow Fall – Parts 1 to 4

Hey all. While recording the first part (and you’ll hear me), I came to realize that there’s no way in hell I’ll be able to get this done in 15 minutes.
So I “decided” to do this in four parts instead of one. So nevermind Part 2 when I say “it’ll be uploaded on Monday”. As Monday is now today.
For future games, this is what I’m going to do for now on. I’m still going to keep the level-based limit (as I can use this as my breaking point for next Saturday’s video(s)).

Speaking of Part 2, I’m trying to get it edited in Sharefactory(need to download it) as there’s an area where I start to have sinus issues. Never fun when recording. Trying to get that part edited out for you guys.
Also, I had an issue with Part 4. I had relatives coming over while recording(always fun). Had to re-record it later on (minus a few fights). But overall, it worked.
Once done, I’ll get all four parts uploaded soon. Watch this blog post!

Part 1…

Part 2…

https://youtu.be/IqHhwFCqp7E

Part 3…

https://youtu.be/HF0_Ll9R5ew

Part 4…

https://youtu.be/xNU1kEuXHyQ

Enjoy the videos, and see you next Saturday for Chapter 3.

.
EDIT: Thanks so much for the feedback. This is what I’ve heard;
1. Getting echo when people talk.
2. Bad quality with 720p.
3. Couldn’t hear me after picking up audio log (while playing it).

For the first thing (after replaying the videos), yes I noticed it too. I guess I’m going to have to play with no audio(let the capture pick up the audio instead of my computer’s speakers).
For the 3rd thing.. I just won’t speak. I didn’t know if the PS4’s mic would actually pick it up. Now that I know, it’s not a problem.
And the 2nd thing, I’m sorry but that’s the best the PS4 can do. All I can suggest is just try to… well… ignore it? Or go watch someone else’s let’s play who has taken the time to put it at 1080p.
I don’t have a USB stick to yank the videos off of my PS4 and onto my computer, or even the intelligence to find a good (free) video editing program (let alone know how to use it), to redo the video format to be 1080p.

One thing I will promise, no more “Hey all, welcome to Part blah blah” at the beginning of every part. As you know, the capture cuts itself off at 14:59. I’ll just continue the recording without saying anything.
This is the first time I did this, so please just bare with me. Chapter 3 should be better. I’ll try my best.

The fun of getting my PS4 controller connected to my PC…

Stand by for a long rant post. But saying how I’m using it, shows it had a happy ending. But I did promise I would discuss this.
So, getting Dolphin setup to simulate using a Wiimote is quite tricky. Mainly because, I never used a Wiimote in my life. I had to go through several websites to try to find the actual button layout for the Wiimote. Finally found something sort of helpful.

But when setting my keybinds, it seemed that my WASD keys (the standard movement keys) weren’t exactly bound to my arrow keys. Yet trying to get my Arrow keys to move (with the up arrow for jumping), it just didn’t seem to work.
And then there was the simulated shaking of the Wiimote. My mouse is the only thing that has an Axis. And going by the IR readout, the red dot was going all over the place. It definitely showed when I thought I had a comfortable layout. And then the game says in level 1-2.. “Tilt your Wiimote sideways!”, and I’m all “Ohh hell..”
See, it worked fine when moving the mouse up (to simulate shaking the Wiimote up), but when tilting and how the cursor was just going everywhere… ugh.

Looked around online for some sort of fix. Saw people prefer to use a controller. So I thought “I wonder if I can get my PS4’s controller to work?” I keep hearing on Youtube how people manage to do it to play GTAV on the PC, using a PS4 controller. So surely it would be as easy as just unplugging the USB from my PS4 and plugging it into the back of my PC, right? .. Right??
Wrong… (well, sort of)

There’s two ways to do it. One requires money, and the other requires you to lower your guard and allow adware to infect your system(to make your controller work). Well, thankfully (though I can’t really say that for sure), I did find what is claimed to be an Adware-free program called ‘InputMapper’.
Using it, you’re also required to install some drivers, called ‘Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories”. This tricks your computer to think you’re using an Xbox 360 controller. The reason I have to go through this hell, is because Sony never considered it to be a good idea to release drivers to make the PS4 controller work with a PC. This is really the only way.
The other way is to use a Bluetooth device (the ‘requires money’ option).

First time I used the program (the ‘InputMapper’ thing), it failed to find my device (even though it was plugged in). It was here where I knew I had been tricked into a false sense of security, and quickly removed the files. What’s bad about them, is the fact one requires to be installed directly into core Windows (can’t use Sandboxie to give me protection).

Tried to look up another reason. It seemed no matter where I looked, I got told to go to the same thing. One even said how the ‘Xbox 360 Accessories’ thing was directly from Microsoft themselves. Yet the second program, I had my doubts (still do at times).
So I tried it again, grabbing the drivers directly from Microsoft and reinstalled InputMapper. Again, it failed to find my controller.
It took a good 10 minutes until I tried something. I’m sitting there staring at my controller. Then I noticed the battery pack and wondered “could this be why it can’t find it?” So I popped it off, having really no hope it would work. Plugged in the Mini-USB adapter… and it worked!! :O
All of this time, it was the battery pack that was throwing everything off. It has to be connected directly to the PS4 controller for it to recognize it.

And sure enough, Dolphin works great with my controller. Got most of the buttons mapped out. Left stick is movement. Right stick is the ‘shaking’ part of the Wiimote(a proper axis). X is the ‘A’ button, Circle is the ‘B’ button. Triangle is the ‘1’ button, and Square is the ‘2’ button.
Lastly, L1 is the ‘-‘ button, R1 is the ‘+’ button, and the OPTIONS button is the ‘Start’ button(which brings up the Wiimote pause screen).

.
So there you go. Will I do a video review of the game? I dunno. Maybe in the future, when I get a more beefy computer. Emulators (these modern ones anyway) are kind of hard on the CPU (yes, I said CPU, not GPU).
