No more videos (for at least a week)

OK, guys. Some serious time. I will not be doing videos for a week. What’s “serious” about it… well, if you checked my latest General blog entry where I’m talking about issues with sleeping… that’s the problem.
See, I enjoy making videos. I really do. But it’s come to a point where it seems it’s screwing up my sleep patterns, keeping me awake all night. The issue isn’t the video itself (or having to upload and do all of that editing). The issue, is trying to make the mic volume at a certain level, where I can be heard just above the audio of the game.

The biggest stress-causer was doing that Jurassic World Demo video. 20+ times, JUST to get my voice loud enough. Yet either it’s too loud, or too quiet. I want to have the mic volume at a universal level (aka, works with all types of audio). But things like battles… my voice gets too quiet (even though it was perfect in the last several parts of the same thing).

So, as I said, I’m not going to be doing videos for a week. I pray, that this is the actual thing that’s keeping me awake. I feel it’s possible, even though I’ve been doing the video thing for a month now (though a week is when I started getting stressed over the mic volume).
So this means, there will be no ‘Benie Fails At’ videos this Saturday(which I feel is the main source of my stress). I’m sorry, but my health comes first. I hope you all understand.
If this doesn’t work… well…. let’s just say I’m going to be using my phone instead of my computer to do these blog posts. I can’t really say anymore about that.

This does NOT mean the end of reviews(and the purpose of this website)! It’s just a small hiatus with the video part, but I’ll still be using my fingers instead of my voice for these reviews.
If I manage to get my sleep back to the way I need it to be, I’m going to be doing a poll. It’s likely I’m not going to be doing any more video reviews with my voice (unless I figure something out by then). I’m too frustrated with that mic.

I do have an idea that I’ll use (if I get my sleep back), which is to record my voice using my computer instead of my PS4, then upload the sound clips to my PS4 and “pasting” them into the video. Basically, I’ll still be playing the game, but my voice won’t be a part of it ’till later on.
I’m hoping with this new option, that I can use Audicity to raise or lower the volume of my voice, based on what’s going on in the video. That way, there should be no more stress. I really want to try this idea out now, but… my sleep is more important.

There’s a chance the idea may not even work, as I don’t know if you can add something from your computer to your PS4. I’ll let you guys know.

Broken Age – The endless cycle (of abandoned games)

Title: Broken Age
Developer: Double Fine Productions
Publisher: Double Fine Productions
Release Date(PS4/Vita): April 28th, 2015
Game Engine: Moai
Number of Players: Single
Genre: Point-and-Click Adventure
Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kunGlT9Ah8c

A game both praised and criticized (like most games). But this one had more likes than dislikes, including my own. I remember someone playing this game for PC, back in 2014. And I really liked what I saw. It looked fun, and a work of art. It was highly praised for it.
Yet what kept me away, was continuously hearing how the game is now “dead”, “unfinished”, and “abandoned”. But now that it’s free on the PS4 for the month, I can finally check the game out.

So, this game is about two teenagers who lives are entwined, yet they don’t know it. Both of them want to escape the same thing over and over and actually live life by their rules (as they’re old enough to).
One is a girl by the name of ‘Vella’, who is to be sacrificed to a monster, in order to not have it destroy their village. She understands it must be done. Her grandfather still believes in the old days, where they battled monsters (and even wants everyone to go back to them). But her family feel that this is the only way to please the monster.

And the other one, is a guy by the name of ‘Shay’. He’s the only resident on board this ship out in space, along with his AI parents. The mother is overprotective and refuses to let him grow up and see the world outside of the ship, while the father understands that his ‘son’ wants to live an independent life (yet doesn’t have the time to be with him).

The game is a point-and-click adventure game, where you can select what you want the guy to say and do, and have an inventory. Think of games like ‘Sam and Max’ (or the Space Quest series) as a good example of what I mean.
And so, that’s all to say about it. If you’re like me who has been unsure of getting this game for quite some time, yet you have a PS4? Don’t hesitate to try it out for free to see if it’s worth the $15 on Steam (if you still want it for the PC).

Super Meat Boy – Let’s do the Time Warp (to 2011)!

Title: Super Meat Boy
Developer: Team Meat
Publisher: Team Meat
Release Date(PS4/Vita): October 6th, 2015
Game Engine: *Unknown*
Number of Players: Single
Genre: Side Scroller Puzzle Platformer
Youtube Game Review: https://youtu.be/nwZpMrlwbAE

SUUUUPPPPPEEERRRRRRRRR MEAT BOY!!! The PS4/Vita edition!
I bought this game on Steam, back in 2011 (during their new year sale). The year before the year that most felt that the world was going to end… ahh. Good times. Yet apparently I never did a review back then. So… I guess I should. Even though I’ve never completed this game. I can feel a really fun video review coming. 🙂

So what is ‘Super Meat Boy’? If you haven’t played it by now.. wtf, dude?! But anyway, sorry for the insult. So you play as a small slab of meat who has a girlfriend.. a wad of bandages(called ‘Bandage Girl’). She gets continuously kidnapped by the evil… Dr.. Fetus. Seriously, who the fuck made this game?!
*clears throat* Right. So in this game, you try to save your girlfriend on each of these levels. Each level gets progressively harder.

Now, this game has a sort of a time limit. But if you complete the level in that timeframe(which is usually in seconds and/or milliseconds), you’ll get a ‘Grade A’ rating. You can choose if you wish to get it, or you can take all the time you need. But the object of the game is to complete each level in the shortest time as possible.
Once you complete the level, given how many times you have tried, you’ll see all of your failed attempts to complete the level. And also, grab bandages while you can, as that helps with 100% completion. The bandages can even be used to purchase other characters that you can play as.

And that’s all there is to it. Expect my video review sometime this evening.

Possible next Far Cry game being announced

Here I’m already bored with Far Cry 4, and Ubisoft’s working on the next game in the series. But what’s interesting, it doesn’t have a “5” next to “Far Cry”.
Their newest game, coming next year, is called “Far Cry Primal”. The trailer looks interesting. Instead of high powered rifles, the game takes us back to the dawn of mankind (where we learned how to use weapons and be the dominant species). Think of bows, and spears. It also has headhunters, and torches.

Also, the game has Mammoths. And they look surprisingly better than the ones in Skyrim (though that shouldn’t be a surprise, as CGI graphics evolve overtime).
And already, there’s a preorder bonus. That if you order now, you can get “3 unexpected missions”… yeah, I’ll pass.
Rule of thumb: Never get suckered by preorder bonuses.

That’s all there is to say.

October’s PS+ free games coming tomorrow

What’s that phrase… oh yeah. “You learn something new every day”. And I’ve learned the reason why I haven’t seen the newest PS+ games yet.
They don’t come out until the first Tuesday of every month. I need to remember that. Since October 1st was on a Friday and not a Tuesday (unlike September 1st), that’s what confused my brain. I expected the games to come out on the first day of the month.
Now that I know, all is well. I also know the games that will be downloadable for the PS4;

Super Meat Boy (the classic rage-inducing game I never completed on the PC. Will not be doing a ‘Benie Fails At’ as the levels are too quick)
Broken Age (More like “Unfinished Expensive Game on Steam” am I right?!)
Unmechanical Extended (claims it’s also for the PS3)

So yeah, they’ll be ready for download by tomorrow.

Lego Jurassic World – LAH La LAH Lah-lah…

Title: LEGO Jurassic World
Developer(s): Tt Fusion/Tt Games
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Release Date: June 12th, 2015
Game Engine: The engine they make all of their LEGO games in…
Number of Players: Single/Co-Op
Genre: 3rd person Action Adventure
Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBsLJU7e-uM

Long ago, before the dawn of the human race, dinosaurs roamed the Earth. There were small dinosaurs, and there were really large ones. Some ate plants and stuff. While the others… they ate other dinosaurs– and people. Wait, what?!
Welcome to Jurassic Park (again)! Approaching the turn of the 21st century, scientists have discovered unhatched fossilized eggs. They managed to extract their genes, to create new dinosaurs(so yeah, they played God). But put them safely on a private island and turn it into a park (dubbed ‘Jurassic Park’), far… FAR away from human civilization. They have also managed to make sure these dinosaurs never reproduced on their own(which would had caused over-population if left unchecked), by making them all females.

It’s been many years, but now they feel they can safely allow specific people to venture into Jurassic Park (if they pay well that is) and even take a tour around it. Now, Jurassic Park(renamed “Jurassic World”) has turned into a popular tourist destination. And also, Lego has gotten ahold of the successful prehistoric movie franchise and created a game based on all four movies; from the original, to the one released this year.
You get to re-enact your favorite scenes from each movie, all in humorous Lego fashion. You also get to play as your favorite Lego-recreated actors from the movie. And lastly, you also get to play (in certain parts) the true actors of the movies; the dinosaurs! Yes, you can stomp around as a Stegosaurus while singing the Jurassic Park theme to yourself.

I’ll be blunt. I got this $60 game from Walmart, because of Steve’s “Dad3 and Co-Completes” series. It looked really fun, yet I wasn’t really sure it was worth the money.
It even had this thing on the front of the box, to have free admission to see Jurassic World in theaters. However, it shows it expired back in August 31st. Kind of useless now.

However, this is a good game to (maybe) start the next series of ‘Benie Fails At’. Again, that is a maybe. We’ll have to see what happens after Season 1 is complete.

What is NOT a maybe (but almost wasn’t even a thing), is I have finally..and I do mean finally have a completed video with my voice volume at an OK level. In parts, you can barely hear it. But it took 20+ playthoughs of this demo to get it right, so please be kind. I almost gave up on it, getting as furious as a T-Rex.

Time for the review;

Good
-You get to play as two Velociraptors.

Bad
-Scene where the pig is running for the doggy door, the door opens by itself, then the pig runs in. I hope that’s not in the full version.

Final Thoughts: For a Demo, it was pretty good. All I can say.

Benie Fails At: Killzone Shadow Fall (Chapter 5) Finally!!

Oy. Yesterday has not been a fun day. But if you just want why in the fuck did it take several hours just to record, you can blame myself for that.
See, I originally had a recording ready to go. The issue was, my mic volume was up so high that I could barely hear what other people were saying. The second time (when I discovered the earbud-like thing of the cheap mic thing I got when I bought my PS4, was the actual mic), my voice sounded really… blurr’ish. It wasn’t that crisp, clear voice I remember hearing.

And the 3rd time, as it usually makes the charm, I got it. My voice is loud, but at least you can finally hear what others are saying. I guess I still need to work on getting that perfect mic volume. Though I had considered to just fuck the commentary and play the game, that would take the point out of hearing my reaction to my fails.

There’s also another reason why it took until the next day (today) to post the videos. I didn’t get any sleep the night before, and I really wanted to. So there was no time to do my post-editing. Thankfully I got about 5-6 hours of sleep (which is better than 0). I feel a lot better today.
Now unfortunately, due to wanting to sleep, I forgot I needed to edit off the last bits of Part 2. See, I did these parts a bit differently. I used Google’s in-browser timer to see how long until the video ends (as my PS4 has no visual timer). With this, I saw when I needed to stop to get to key points in the chapter. So I got to get that done too… sorry. 🙁
For now on (which I should had done before), I’m going to be doing things differently. Wednesday, I’m going to do the recording. Here I can take ALL the time I need to get the recording part done right. Then by Saturday, the videos will be ready to upload. Which means, less time you guys have to wait for my videos!

When done, you’ll see links here. The homepage will also be edited and there will also be a new entry in my Video blog.
EDIT: Finally finished the editing (Parts 1, 2, and 4 all needed it). Uploading the videos now.
EDIT2: All done! Post-editing complete. Here you go! Sorry for the wait, by the way! (Pretend today is Saturday and all will go good)

Part 1: https://youtu.be/D3MU75oPlNI
Part 2: https://youtu.be/ZYzdkAgth-I
Part 3: https://youtu.be/7qOXn7gw1V4
Part 4: https://youtu.be/ehe6xBkO9tU

(Do have some good news. I bought a new game from Walmart that I’ll be doing a review on, after I get this mess sorted out)

Blizzard puts services on the Ingame Store, blocks comments

This is a very interesting debate here. So on WoW’s website(for the US), they have listed that they have put things like Race and Faction changes (things you would only find on their website) are now on the Blizzard Store. Well, they also blocked the comments.
The reason for them blocking the comments, could be pretty much any reason;
1. They’re tired of the moaning and groaning of their community, and are all “either buy it or don’t”.
2. They don’t give a fuck anymore about your opinion, because they feel they’re doing the right thing (but “give us your monies!!”).
3. They’re doing this to make themselves look like they’re actually doing something to appease their stockholders for the Q3 report(instead of doing something for the community).

Now, I’m currently pretending that Blizzard is a horse that’s starting to stink with lots of flies buzzing around it, yet is still very much alive. It also pretends it’s a lama, spitting on the face of its community.
The horse has been beaten so… so many times by its community (with me contributing). But now it seems (to me), that the horse has finally realized to just allow the beating to continue, and not give two fucks anymore.
In other words, Blizzard seems to not give a fuck anymore that they’re killing their own successful franchise (WoW). Yet they sure do love to care about your money.

Meh. That’s just my opinion. To be honest, I don’t really care about this. What I DO care is to see their Q3 report, that hopefully should be coming sometime this evening.
I want to see them suffer. This here? What they’re doing?… This is not suffering. It’s possibly more on the lines of ‘desperation’, because they know they’re hurting.

But if they are sooo… “hurting”, then why can’t they just fucking do something about it and actually make content that their existing subscriber base would love, instead of putting all of their time and effort into Legion?!
Ugh. THIS is why I’m done yelling at them. It’s doing no good anymore! They aren’t learning from their mistakes! They’re just creating NEW ones!!

Q3 numbers coming in today, what I think of Blizzard’s chances

The 3rd fiscal quarter ends today (which covers July to September). Soon we’ll see what big businesses have fared… such as Activision-Blizzard. As always, HeelvsBabyface was right on top of it to let us know. He also wanted to let us know that he’s hit 70,000 subscribers. Go him! 🙂

So anyway, the entire point of the video was to say, that he feels that WoW’s subscriber numbers are actually going to go up, due to the announcement of Legion (which was announced during Gamescon in August). His forecast is around 6.5 million. While others in the comments section, feel nothing is going to save WoW.
Though there’s also the beta, which he believes would be released in possibly a week or two after BlizzCon 2015. Also, just as you know, I’m not wasting $40 on a virtual ticket. And if I had a car, I wouldn’t even drive there to watch it live. I wouldn’t even do it for free. Not to watch political-style bullshit. I see that enough from my TV right here.

*sigh* I’m sorry, I ranted again about WoD, didn’t I? Right… where was I? .. Oh yeah! He believes if the Legion beta is good, it will definitely help. Here I actually agree and it even has me interested enough (that is, if I get a beta invite) to check it out.
As for my thought on their chances. I don’t see their numbers going up. They’ll go down. Though I see them not going down… quickly. What are they now.. 5.6 million or so? I’d say… maybe 5.1–ish? And that’s being generous.
I would also say that some may’ve actually hopped aboard the hype train for Legion, and resubbed (though in a week, screaming “NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! FUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!“). But, that’s just my prediction. I’ll see if I’m wrong, or close to that number.

Tearaway Unfolded (Demo) – “Hi, you! I’m breaking the 4th wall!”

Title: Tearaway Unfolded
Developer(s): Tarsier Studios, Media Molecule
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: September 8th, 2015
Game Engine: *Unknown*
Number of Players: Single
Genre: Adventure platformer
Youtube Game Review: https://youtu.be/M2tp6_0UUN0 (sorry about the late link)

I’ve seen this game before, but I forgot what it was called. It looked so fucking cool, because it uses your PS4 Controller the same way the Nintendo Wii uses its Wiimote; in a unique way. The game seems to have motion control(similar to a Wiimote), and it uses your controller as it. It also uses the light of your controller, as its “guiding light”.
What is so cool, is where you point your controller, the light will be. So I can be shaking my controller, and you would actually see it on the screen. I just… WOW. That is mind-blowing of how technology has moved, from its primitive times.

So the plot.. actually, there is no plot. It’s more of a story. YOUR story. Did I blow your mind yet? Well, do put your brain back in your head, because this is what I really don’t understand about it. See, there’s this courier (that you create), and you’re being told that he (or her) has a message for… you. Yet since this being was just born, its a bit naive. It doesn’t know how to get to the “youverse” (which is your real life). You must guide it, with your guiding light (the light on your PS4 Controller). You are “The You”. This entity needs ‘The You’ to guide it to this portal.

That’s what I get as the story. However, it’s not a proper story without a touch of chaos (who are called “scraps”). Because without baddies to fight, there’s no purpose of playing a game. Except you’re not pla— OK, I’ll stop with that. 🙂

Anyway, that’s what this game is mainly about, and what I feel. It’s time for the review;

Good
-This has a very unique way of using your PS4 Controller to play the game.
-It has a Little Big Planet theme to it (in ways). And how you can share stickers and stuff, that’s very Little Big Planet.

Bad
-The game feels too… childish at times. The whole “guiding light” thing feels a bit too… yeah. Like it was designed for young kids who don’t really need to see lots of violence.
-In ways, it feels like a sequel of a previous game that I should had known before playing this.
-Why when you meet the Gophers, they are giving you… presents?
-No way to restart the game from the very beginning (not even reinstalling fixes it).

.
Final Verdict: This game is actually hard to give a decent final opinion. I’m not saying it’s a bad game. I mean, listen to how happy I am in my video. Of course, that’s my childish side talking.
I am saying that it deserves a go. But if it’s worth the $40? …Mmmm…. I dunno. If the plot made more sense (and it didn’t feel so…. childish), then yes, it would be worth it.
