Minecraft PS4 Edition (demo) – Talkin’ ’bout console’d Minecraft!

Minecraft, the best indie game ever, for consoles? Yes. Apparently not everyone in the world owns a PC that can play Minecraft even at crap settings, yet can afford $400 for a PS4, plus $20 to pay for the game.

So the PS4 edition, or the demo of it, it’s got similar music of the PC version. The demo seems to be this tutorial to Minecraft. Though it is a bit annoying at times, when I’m saying “I already know how to play Minecraft!”
Yet it’s not telling me “dude, you need to mine to get coal for the furnace!” There’s no mineshafts available in this area, or even exposed coal ore. How in the fuck am I going to have fuel for the furnace, with no coal ore?! It acts like I can use wood, as fuel. AHAHAHA.. wood only burns if it’s lit, dumbass!
Whoever wrote that part of the tutorial needs to be slapped silly.

Well, so much for that. The trial is only 10 minutes. I really dislike timed trials. But I love how it says “to have more fun, would you like to buy the full game?” And I would add to that “buy the full PS4 version of a game you already own on PC and is so much better because mods?”
However, you can play the demo again and then skip all of that tutorial BS and actually play the fucking game! There’s a small town it includes as your ‘reward’ for completing the tutorial. It shows all the items in this version, including animals.

Going by the cow mooing(how it’s using the old mooing sounds), and the ugly texture change of Gravel blocks, I’m guessing this would be the infamous Redstone update; version 1.3. The version that turned Single Player into a LAN server. However, it has carpets as well. So possibly 1.5 ish?
I really doubted it would had been updated to at least version 1.7.2.

Still, pretty cool demo. But as always, PC is better. 🙂

Warframe – A ‘Single Player’ game with a chatroom… ugh

Warframe. Having played it for a good two hours, I don’t like it. Yes, it’s free. And it’s good that it’s free. Except I want something that can never be refunded; my time playing it.
The plot, is confusing. The upgrades are both confusing and make me facepalm. The only thing that could be good is the combat. Because chopping up someone in a game is fun (having played hack and slash games like Deadpool).

This game feels like a sequel of a game I’ve never heard of. Who the hell are these ‘Grieer’, and why are they so evil (and have taken over Earth)? Why do they want you dead, and why does everyone keep calling you ‘Tenno’ (when I picked Excalibur as the one of the three options)? You seem to be an android of somesort.

I gave this game a chance. I really did. So here’s what I liked;
– Classic slashing someone with a sword in a game action. It felt wild hitting my R2 buttom and feeling my controller jolt. I was going “DIE DIE DIE!!” everytime I swung it.
– The view from space between missions, and occasionally seeing a large ship flying by.
– The ship has an interior, which of course is bigger than the outside.
– The fact you can somewhat fly your ship during loading screens.

So yeah. But those are just light thoughts. The heavy ones are the hates. Infact there was so much, I uninstalled without even thinking about it;
– Some of the upgrades are quite questionable. One especially, involves going to their online store where you can pay to win all you want.
– The game has a chat room in the game between missions, with real people. Hello! I thought this was a Single Player game! Do I have to put this in neon for the devs to see?
– The ‘life’ system. You start with 20. Everytime you die, you can respawn. You lose this ability on the 21st death and go back to before you started the mission. I know of no way to get more. Maybe with a bit of real money…
– This is the first time I’ve ever complained of a game not using checkpoints. They would had been damn useful.
-I had to wait two hours just to play the game. The first hour went to downloading. Another hour went to updating. Though this is just a minor thing as it only happened once.
-At times the framerate gets bad during big battles, or even not battling at all.

This is a bad game. A bad P2W game, like most games with microtransactions. The devs should feel ashamed, but they’re not.

Far Cry 4 “demo” .. more like more typical Ubisoft

I got the demo, that took the longest time to download. I wanted to play a Single Player preview to see if it’s worth one day to get it on PC(as I got the rest of the Far Cry series from, and it looks better on PC). Yet I don’t get why, that the only feature in the demo is Co-Op.

When setting it up, Uplay comes up asking if I want to link my existing account to access co-op. And if I pay for the full game, I can access multiplayer and stuff.
Ok, so. I say no, and pick the SKIP option and press the X button, and then it gives me this crap about how there’s two hours left in the demo.

And also, my only option is “JOIN CO-OP”. This is bullshit! Yet this isn’t anything new. The demo to Crysis 2, was multiplayer only.
So, I can’t play the demo, as I have no friend in my room to do it with me. This is just more Ubisoft corporate greed where they just fucking don’t give a shit about their customers.

The Lego Movie (the game) – Everything is awesome!

Just got done playing the demo. It was a bit complicated. I never played a turn-based strategy game in my life. Not to mention, I’ve only played 1 (one) game based off of a movie. And that was many years ago; Monsters Inc, on the PSOne. It was a demo too.

As any demo, it features a small part of the entire game to entice you to buy it. And from what I’ve seen, I think it’s worth it.

In this demo, you play the Wild West part of the movie. But this game, you can do more than you’ve ever seen in the movie. Think of it as “behind the scenes”. You got your master builders, Wildstar and that other guy that I forgot his name. And of course you got Emmet. Certain things require certain characters.
For example, only Master Builders can access this thing, and Emmet can only access something that requires an instruction book. It’s pretty true to the movie, from what I’ve seen.

It also took advantage of the rumble feature that I missed so greatly from a console, that you just can’t get from a PC (unless they invent mice that have rumble features to make them even harder to control).
The game as it stands is $30 on the Playstation Network. Think I might get it.

More things I can do on a PS4 / Two demos for the price of free

More things I can do on a PS4
Really enjoying my new PS4 so far. It was worth the purchase. Plus I found out that once I get my money next month and able to buy games like GTA V or Little Big Planet 3, I won’t have to pay a tax (as there’s no tax for using a debit card in my state. Though this may change in the future).
The thing is, you have to add funds digitally to your system to pay for the item, be it a game or a movie. These funds can be paid through a Credit or Debit Card, or even through PayPal. There’s also a “Playstation Network card” you can possibly buy. Not sure where I could find them. Wonder if they sell them at Kroger.

I also found out, I can use this thing as a DVD player. The fact it can play Blu-ray disks, I thought for sure it wouldn’t play DVDs. But throwing in a regular video proved it can support DVDs no problem. This is awesome.

.
Two demos for the price of free
Currently downloading the demos to Far Cry 4, and The Lego Movie videogame(which I hope “EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!”). Also been playing the hell out of Loadout. Such a fun game.. it’s just a bitch to master with a controller. Several times have I had an AI enemy just stand there killing me and I’m flailing around with my controls, trying to position myself to face him. And then he has the fucking nerve to taunt me, while standing on my corpse. 😛
And I’m all “You bastard!!”

So, this is just a breather post (to let my hands heal from gripping on the controller too hard) of the two to come, for the two demos. Though I was hoping there would be a demo for Little Big Planet 3 and GTA V.

Benie’s PS4 unboxing vide– blog post

I actually wish I could do a video, and people would like how messy my room is. But I got my shiny new PS4 today. Yay.
Setting it up was fairly simple. Everything was in the box. No issues. I just had to remove my old Nintendo Gamecube for it. This damn thing’s pretty big! I wonder why it has no side support for it to stand upright.
And internet access, it’s true. It’s using the WiFi of my Cable Modem. All I had to do was type in the password and it’s locked in. Yay for that. A free connection! 🙂

I’m quite amazed, of holding the first ever (in my life) wireless controller. It feels pretty good in my hands. Believe I can work with it. Even got to use its motion controls, which is pretty cool.

It sure has a ton of privacy options, that I said “No one but me needs to know what I’m doing!” It’s just a safety feature. Nothing more.

Anyway, I also got to use the ‘headset’… which is a single earbud with a built in mic. Not exactly how I pictured what a headset would look like. It looks cheap made.
When I thought they meant ‘headset’, it’s something I’ll actually wear on my head. Aka headphones. At least, that’s how headsets worked in the past.
Though you only really need the earbud part, if you were talking to friends.

And now I’m downloading my first free game; Loadout. I’ll be doing my first ever non-PC game review (even though this game is also on Steam) once it gets done downloading… which will be in about a half an hour. Remember, consoles aren’t as fast as PCs. It’s like a 56k versus fiber optic.
Speaking of these free games.. hah. There’s not that many of them for the PS4.

One last thing. I’m shocked there’s no app for Pandora on the PS4. Maybe they couldn’t strike a deal with them or something, or Pandora wanted a shit-ton of money to have their app on it.

Starbound on sale, and I don’t got the money… but maybe that’s a good thing

With my PS4 coming sometime today via UPS (I can’t wait), I have little to no money. And wouldn’t fate just throw a curve ball right in my face, then to have Steam put Starbound on sale?!
A game I’ve been waiting patiently for two years to do so, and wondered if it will ever go on sale. It finally has.. and I can’t afford it!! D:<

But, reading the comments…. maybe this isn't so bad that I lack the required funds to get it. I'm reading how the main CEO of the company has left and did another successful game. Also, the game hasn't been updated for years. That's bad. That's really bad.

So, maybe I should just take it off my wishlist and forget about it. I had no idea it was so outdated. Plus the other things I've heard, how it's "boring" and stuff are real turn-offs.

Windows 10… FREE?! And is it a worthy Windows 7 replacement?

The technology world has been buzzing about Windows 10, the latest OS for PCs. I personally don’t know much if anything about 10. All I’ve seen is “Will Program/Driver/Hardware X work with Windows 10?”

From what I’ve heard, most games are compatible. But nothing about hardware. Maybe I really need to dig into this. Especially if there’s a 64-bit version.
But the reason this post even exists, is this article I saw when I was getting the latest CCleaner update. The words “Windows 10 will be free” is what made me click on it.

It explains there was a Windows 10 event that explained what features will be coming with 10. Nothing about a release. Infact, the way people talk, it’s already been released.
What gets my interest is Pages 4 and 5. Page 4, I had assumed it meant you could play XBox games right on your computer (which would be fucking epic). But reading closer, it seems you still have to own an XBox One or something like that, to access. It will use your WiFi to do these things.
Hell no will it allow you to play XBox games on your computer without owning the console! This is Micro$oft we’re talking about!

And Page 5, the “HOLY FUCK where do I get this thing?!” page. It mentions Windows 10 will be free! But does that also mean free shipping if I was to get it through Newegg?
The catch is, it’s free for the first year of its release. Which also makes me wonder, will I be billed $100+ for the license once the year is over? Or is it completely, totally free?
Again, this is Micro$oft. They love money.

.
And my question, is it a worthy Windows 7 replacement? I’m not sure. They’re trying to win back Windows 8 haters (like me). Yet I’m happy with 7. It’s been more reliable than XP.

Unfortunately, I may have no choice one of these months and go on and upgrade (and hope for the best of my hardware and software that it’s compatible), as they stopped supporting 7 with updates. So if I get someone trying to hijack my computer with a trojan, Microsoft isn’t going to protect me. I’ll be fucked. :/
But at least, I don’t have to worry about Windows forcing me to restart my computer anymore. 🙂

The result of doing Dragon Soul on Normal

All of my raid instances have unlocked and ready to go, including my failed 2nd half of Dragon Soul.
Before I flew to get to the Caverns of Time, I added some new music to Soundtrack. Had some issue with a few that were ogg instead of mp3. Used iTunes to attempt to convert them, who didn’t like this and repeatably crashed on me.
Though I did manage to get the ones I wanted converted, done. Got them into Soundtrack like the others, and set them to their specified music queues.

Getting to the portal, I had no issue. My original plan was to fly to SW and use the portal to Uldum, and then fly East. Then as I was flying over Menethil Harbor, I saw the boat to Theramore and thought “Change of plans, I’m going there” and made a hard right toward the boat.

So I’m at the portal. Just flew in and that started the instance. It shows 10 man. Started shooting at things, and noticing how quickly their health was dropping! Looks like they were right that doing this on Normal is easier.
The first boss, dropped within 20 seconds. This is awesome. Did the other two bosses. 38 seconds. 20 seconds! HOLY FUCK YEAH!! 😀 The second boss died before he could start Phase 2! This is amazing. I’m killing them faster than on the WoD Beta! There’s hardly any challenge!
The last boss, downed her way before she could pop that damn bubble on me.

Then I did the second half (but in this case, there is no first or second half in Normal). Downed the drakes, kept them from covering the platform. Then it was time for the bastard that I couldn’t solo; Ultraxion.
I got him down.. before .. wow…. before Thrall could finish casting his ‘Last Defender of Azeroth’ buff!!! 😀 Now I was convinced they were right. That was.. amazing. I killed him 3x faster than on the WoD Beta.

Doing the spine, I did fuck up once. But only because I wasn’t paying attention to the rolls (didn’t know what side I was on). Second time I got it. Felt my right hand index finger twitching because of the constant movement of my mouse. But thankfully I didn’t get the adrenaline rush I had the first time I solo’d it.
The fight is pretty easy. Just need to know boss mechanics. Staying calm and focusing helps.

I even saw the Lesser Cache of Aspects, proving they only show up once in LFR. Downing Deathwing was a breeze.

Though I didn’t get the Alexstrasza-like mount, I did get the ‘Destroyer’s End’ title. Which I’m proudly using at the moment. I’ve redeemed my pride, and it feels really good after what happened last night.

Three days of soloing, with a bit of rage in-between

From ZG to ICC, I did them all. Why, when I said there’s no point as I don’t need the money? Stepping away from the Garrison was the breather I needed. However, soloing sometimes comes with anger, especially when there’s a fight that I can’t seem to do.

And that boss fight, was Blackwing Depths. For many months it’s been my bane. Soloable, definitely. Ridiculous boss mechanics? .. Yep.
Razergore, the first boss. They gave him a buff to help soloers complete the encounter. Yet it just didn’t seem enough for me. Either I accidentally target and kill him, or the adds do. I’ve watched so many Hunter solo videos, not one of them helped me. It was a rage fest, literally screaming at my monitor.

Then I watched another, who claimed has a guaranteed way to do the fight. He explained how most of Razergore’s abilities when controlling him, don’t work. Except for one, which sleeps dragons. He says to use this, as the dragons that spawn are the ones that keep killing Razergore.

So I did, trying to remain as calm as possible. The forth go, I was all “Ugh… this fight punishes mouse ability users” Did it again, and realized I had only a few eggs left to kill. Fucking FINALLY MANAGED TO COMPLETE THE ENCOUNTER!!! WOOT!! 😀
Got to see the rest. The rooms with the whelps and the slow speed chambers, are quite annoying. Also, this is a pretty big place.

The final boss confused me. You have to speak to the guy in this to start the encounter. Then he disappears, saying “Let the games begin!” Suddenly I’m being swarmed by endless waves of drakkin. I’m over-abusing Barrage to hold them back, constantly running out of Focus.
Finally the main boss shows up, and I kick his scaly ass. But as he’s monologging his death, suddenly a group of undead spawn infront of me and attack. Barrage finishes them off. That was a “WTF?!” moment there. But I lopped off his head and threw it into my bag.
I am not, repeat, not doing this raid EVER again… at least that’s a promise I can keep.

.
Onyxia, was a lot easier than I thought the encounter would be. Yet, it was very… odd. Something was wrong with her speech. It wasn’t following her creature yells. I heard things like “Now kill it very fast!” and stuff. Just weird sayings.
My guess, it’s from the echos of failed raiders that she ate. But I got her head at the end. Woot for that! Was going to turn it in.. “But first, I gotta take a selfie!”
So I ran over to her face, and tried to take a picture with me and my spirit beast, with her cold dead eyes staring at us. But before I could take the shot, her corpse disappeared. 😛

.
Tried to do the Heart of Fear for the first time. 10 man. Normal. Was curious no one did a solo run video of this place. But I thought for sure it should be doable. I read about the first boss; how you have to use a melee weapon to stop an ability. Thought about to ‘just bitch-slap him with my fishing pole’ could stop it.
Doing the initial trash, it was pretty rough. The adds, they can gank you. I had to run while attacking to kill them. Even had to use Freezing Trap as CC. Been many years since I had to do that for my soloing runs.
The first boss, I knew was trouble for me as I saw my pet’s health dropping (and mine as well). He killed us shortly after.

Asked on the forums about this place and if it’s even soloable. Was told doing MoP raids is near impossible right now, even when well-geared. So that answers my question. At least I tried, yes?

.
Now we move on to the Bastion of Twilight. I tried to do it in Heroic to give myself a challenge. It’s also the first time I attempted to solo a raid in Heroic(or even did any raid in Heroic). There’s a creepy, metallic skull over the instance portal when you activate.
Yet it said I couldn’t. Checking, it said I got to do it in Normal first. Ehh. Oh well!
Did the dungeon as in the beta, until I got to Cho’gall.. who’s boss mechanics were nothing like. He kept using an invisible casting bar of this ability that can cause me to bow to him, which takes me out of combat and resets the encounter.
This happened everytime I attempted. Furious and demanding answers, I checked YouTube for any videos explaining this “new” ability I didn’t have to deal with in the beta.
Nothing. Not even mentioned in Heroic, as something a soloer needs to watch out for. All I read from the Dungeon Journal, is this encounter can be interrupted. Yet I can’t interrupt something I can’t catch; DBM sure wasn’t doing it.

I asked in the WoW forums, yet also still trying to kill this bastard. Finally somehow, I was able to pop Counter Shot at JUST the right moment (he didn’t auto-cast his ability) and I fucking downed him!
Checking back in my thread, someone replied about five minutes after I left the raid instance. They said to try to get rid of my pet and do it that way, as Cho’gall might see my pet as being another player.
That’s something to consider doing if I do decide to do the raid again. As for doing it in Heroic, I actually doubt I’ll survive. Probably need 640+ gear.

.
Going to the last two highlights, Icecrown and Dragon Soul, let’s talk about Icecrown first. Did it on 10 man, normal. Just like before.
When I got to the Gunship encounter, and heard how the Horde were “coming in fast” yet didn’t see them, I started thinking the encounter’s bugged again. Then I saw them at the last few seconds of the fight starting.
Attacked the ship with cannons, then noticed I couldn’t attack. Already I reached the stage the cannons freeze and I got to take out the adds on our ship, then go to theirs?
So I did, then hopped over. Suddenly, the Horde Gunship begins to depart as if I completed the fight, yet the same dialog about manning the guns is happening.
I jump back over, and the Alliance Gunship is heading up to the next encounter. I’m sitting there in shock. I mean… WOW. That was the fastest I took down that ship!
Somehow I may had did somekind of accidental exploit that the Horde Gunship suddenly hits 1% health and gets out of there.

The next boss fight went just as scripted. Yet the rest was a bit buggy. It still went on, but when we pulled in, the Horde Gunship was already at the dock. And when the guy died, the Horde Gunship bails off and flies away. I definitely glitched something.
Then the Horde commander suddenly appears and does his scripting, yet there’s no gunship. He takes the corpse of his son and disappears near where the gunship would be. Weird…
The rest of the raid went as planned, all the way to downing the Lich King.

Read later that there is a slight exploit, that if you attack within the first second of the fight with a charged shot, you’ll one-hit complete it.

.
And finally, Dragon Soul. I thought the fights would be just like in the WoD Beta, and the only real issue I’ll have is the Spine of Deathwing. ….. I was wrong. Horribly. Wrong.
Basically, I had forgotten that in LFR, there is no 10/25 man option. It’s 25 man only.

The first part of the raid, went just like the beta. Except for the final boss. She suddenly encases herself in a bubble that makes her Immune, and I’m being randomly attacked by lightning. There’s also these four small pillars attached to the bubble.
An elemental shows up. I kill it near one of the pillars. It takes it out. I’m all “Yes! Take down the pillars and the shield will drop!”
I wait for several minutes. No more elementals spawn. And on top of that, her Enrage timer is ticking down. That timer, if you don’t kill the boss by then, wipes the raid.

I’m facepalming, not knowing what the fuck to do. I get ready to go read up on this encounter and how to beat it. A minute later, suddenly her bubble breaks and she’s attackable again. So I pop every cooldown I got and kill her.

The second part of the raid, which involves dealing with the problem aka Deathwing, the first fight, I don’t get why the drakes are doing so much. They’re literally covering the floor in goop that slowly drains my health. I barely have anywhere to go when I take the final one down.
Then it’s time for the first boss, Ultraxion. One of the most pride-filled dragons I ever did hear. Again, I had barely any room to move around because of the AoE left over. During the fight, I noticed how pathetic my attacks were on him. When he was at 65%, he’s casting Hour of Twilight.
I’m like “WTF?! This isn’t right! I should be fucking downing him by now!”, and he kills me. First time I’ve ever wiped in that raid on a solo (that wasn’t the Spine of Deathwing).
I try it again, knowing I don’t have the AoE to worry about and the fight should be normal. He’s gleefully taking my health down with his beam attack. Something is NOT right here! And he kills me again with him being 13% health left…

I’m freaking out with my own pride on the line (my soloing pride that I can do ANYTHING) and make a post, wondering if Beast Mastery really is shitty in raids. At this time, I had forgotten LFR only has 25 man.
They do tell me something about the fight got buffed because players were saying it was too easy, or something like that. Not the answer I want to hear, but the only answer I’m going to get.

So… Dragon Soul’s unsoloable to me now. I’m hearing so many doing it in Heroic and stuff, except they have far better gear than me. This, is very upsetting. I expected to do the same things I did, with the same level of difficulty as on the WoD Beta.
This does prove that getting gear has a purpose. But to me, it’s just not worth mindlessly grinding mobs for months on end, just to do a raid I could do on the beta.

EDIT: I made a thread Tuesday morning, asking Blizzard why did you all make LFR unsoloable now, yet also did it in a calm way (asking them to reconsider). Someone posted saying “Dude, do it on Normal. It’s piss-easy!”, followed by others saying the same thing.
So… that is definitely something to do. I will try this. Do Dragon Soul 10 man normal for the first time in my WoW life, and see how ‘piss-easy’ it really is. Plus if I beat Deathwing, I’ll have a whopping 1% chance to get a new flying mount that looks like Alexstrasza.

One even said that 25 man Heroic is easier to solo than LFR. This I very much doubt. There’s no possible way LFR is harder than Heroic.
