The technology world has been buzzing about Windows 10, the latest OS for PCs. I personally don’t know much if anything about 10. All I’ve seen is “Will Program/Driver/Hardware X work with Windows 10?”
From what I’ve heard, most games are compatible. But nothing about hardware. Maybe I really need to dig into this. Especially if there’s a 64-bit version.
But the reason this post even exists, is this article I saw when I was getting the latest CCleaner update. The words “Windows 10 will be free” is what made me click on it.
It explains there was a Windows 10 event that explained what features will be coming with 10. Nothing about a release. Infact, the way people talk, it’s already been released.
What gets my interest is Pages 4 and 5. Page 4, I had assumed it meant you could play XBox games right on your computer (which would be fucking epic). But reading closer, it seems you still have to own an XBox One or something like that, to access. It will use your WiFi to do these things.
Hell no will it allow you to play XBox games on your computer without owning the console! This is Micro$oft we’re talking about!
And Page 5, the “HOLY FUCK where do I get this thing?!” page. It mentions Windows 10 will be free! But does that also mean free shipping if I was to get it through Newegg?
The catch is, it’s free for the first year of its release. Which also makes me wonder, will I be billed $100+ for the license once the year is over? Or is it completely, totally free?
Again, this is Micro$oft. They love money.
.
And my question, is it a worthy Windows 7 replacement? I’m not sure. They’re trying to win back Windows 8 haters (like me). Yet I’m happy with 7. It’s been more reliable than XP.
Unfortunately, I may have no choice one of these months and go on and upgrade (and hope for the best of my hardware and software that it’s compatible), as they stopped supporting 7 with updates. So if I get someone trying to hijack my computer with a trojan, Microsoft isn’t going to protect me. I’ll be fucked. :/
But at least, I don’t have to worry about Windows forcing me to restart my computer anymore. 🙂
