MRT February 7th GSM results (Edited)

This is the GSM I’ve been waiting for; to get back to road building. Even though I’ll be nothing but a road builder for hire, at least I would had done something road-related.
To be honest, I feel I’m really not interested anymore. Will explain this later.

But first, the other news of the GSM. Lots to discuss here, compared to last month. Even some news that I didn’t even know happened, as I’ve been off of the server. It seems Music3_0 hasn’t let go his grudge against Frumple with yeamanator’s banning in early January.
Seriously, when I saw Music on the Dynmap, I thought everything was cool with him. I never knew of him to hold a grudge. He seemed level-headed. And I thought for sure that they were going to give him another chance at being a Mod, even though Frumple himself was kind of against it.
I’ve questioned Music being a Mod for quite sometime, with his suggestive comments and stuff. Doesn’t really leave a good mark for the server.

Frumple wrote an email to Music, as clear as possible to tell him his reasoning for the banning, and also he would possibly ban him if he continued (especially with the suggestive comments).
Somehow, this email got into the hands of ‘someone’ (he’s believes it was cola) and it got edited to contain a lot of explicit stuff on it, including personal information of Frumple and Chief (real names, addresses, etc). How in the hell they got this info is beyond me. I have my theory, but I refuse to make assumptions. Anyway, so 0rocketscience0 shared said email on the MRT Skype Chat, and Skele posted it on his Twitter page. What the hell were they thinking?!
They (and Music) were all temp banned because of this. He also sternly warns everyone, that if he finds out that other people are doing this, he will involve Law Enforcement against them. That’s pretty serious. But only people that really, really hate the server to the point that they have nothing to lose, would do that. And of course I would never do that.

He also told us that he was pretty close to permabanning Music for it. However, he claimed that Music was pretty remorseful of his actions, which is why he let him off with a temp ban, yet warned him that this was his final chance, and hopes he learns from it.
Yet I have my doubts.

In other news, there was several people that got to the Senator rank. For Governor, only two people got it: Chief and lalaboy. And also, due to a request from littlegopher, kekko got an honorary Premier rank due to his old world town of Arisa. This is a major exemption, due to how well that he took care of the town. He also gave a speech that brought tears to several people. Me? Ehh. You know my attitude.

hnties, a guy who I don’t know all that well(even when I was somewhat active on the server last month), got promoted to Mod out of the blue. I was pretty sure it was going to be Cortesi.
Apparently the Admins and Mods see hnties being trustworthy enough to have the position. *shrug* Just hope he (or she) does good for the server.

Frumple also mentioned that Minecraft 1.8 is ‘coming soon’ to the MRT. They’re waiting for WorldGuard and MyWarp. He also mentioned that ‘EUID Support’ is important. I’ve never heard of this ‘EUID’ thing. Is it a new thing to Spigot? Do I need to worry about it? I should had asked, but I wasn’t really listening until now.

He talks about he may get the beta server up by next week, “but don’t hold me by that.” And they should “probably get to 1.8 either by this month or next month.”
I’m sure exactly when the move to 1.8 happens, it’ll be on the website.

.
And now, “I know Benie wants this, as it’s the ‘R’ word”.
He mentions of a “Guinea Pig Experimental Project”. Basically, to see how this new system will work and if it’ll be a success. Then mentions that _frozen wants someone to do an A Class Road (an InterMap) from the West side of Central City to the Whitechapel airport.
He’s offering $450 ingame money, as long as it’s done in a month. The road is to be owned by the server upon completion, and it must cross the Arctic line around A8. This means perms are to be given by the Mayor of this town to pass by (named Sonicbyte).

To offer to build, you got to send an email to staff+roads at minecartrapidtransit dot net. What they ask for in said email is a bit insane. They want screenshots, Dynmap pictures, and of course the usual stuff as who will build the road, when will you build, how much is your asking price, where will you build, and that’s pretty much it.
The usual stuff, I can handle… but wanting screenshots and Dynmap images? We’re not robbing a high security bank in GTA V here. There’s no need for Ariel Reconnaissance. This is too much. Too much red tape for a simple road project.

During the Q&A session, I had Frumple remind me again of what they’re looking for. Keks decided to answer this question and then added on about “frozen has a graphic of where he wants the road.” And I’m all “I really want to see this image.” and was told it should be in with Chief’s post tomorrow about what was discussed during the GSM.

One last thing. Frumple has announced the next GSM to be on March 7th; exactly a month from now. I asked if it’ll be the same time (which is 4pm EST for me), he said that they might make it earlier for the European mods and admins. That’s good news for me.

.
EDIT: Chief was true to his word, posting early this morning of the results. He posted the picture that frozen took, showing two routes he wants the road to go. Chief also simplified what they’re looking for in their road proposal emails. And for some reason, ‘Ariel Reconnaissance'(aka taking pictures) isn’t one of the requirements. Thank goodness.

I’m actually considering doing this. Seems more reasonable than before. Less red tape. Infact I just submitted my request. I also asked several questions on how frozen wants the road done. Stuff that was never explained during the GSM. Though I have a feeling they’re going to come back and tell me “You’re going to have to tell us what you want to do, and we’ll decide if we like it or not.”

If they do, then… fuck ’em. I’m doing this for frozen, not the server. Because of what he’s done for me in the past — both with my roads and the W2TS. If they want me to go the extra mile, it’s just not worth the effort. Get someone else to do the work.

But if they answer my questions in the order I asked them, and will understand I don’t wish to be paid, then by all means, I will do it. Though I might need help from people who are free. Though one of the requirements is to have a list of people willing to help me, if I feel I can’t do this by myself. I hope they will make an exemption, for the work I’ve done in the old map.

To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the only one that offered to do this project. From what I heard of the GSM, not a lot of people are interested. Which of course, gives me a higher chance of getting the job.

.
EDIT#2: Frozen has responded to my email around 2:10am. He’s answered my questions.
To sum it up, he says that I can elevate and put it on the ground where it’s needed, but also specifically said to avoid tunnels on long stretches of the route.
He wants a standard Rual design (two lanes each, which means less work for me). And about if I can do my signage and if he wants it named or leave that up to the server, he says to “leave them blank” for now, and will go over that with the Admins.

He also adds that the inner (left) lanes to have a Diamond underbelly to mark them as fast lanes, and the right lanes to be normal. That would mean I’ll have to have a double thick underbelly to support it. I’m sure I can work with that.

Last thing he wanted to tell me, he mentioned that two areas(where the InterMap would connect from the existing areas) may be converted at a later time to have a T-intersection, and to plan accordingly because of it.

So… am I going to do this? I still got my replacement PS4 controller to come in the mail by the end of this week(as what Amazon is telling me). I will need to go over the details of where exactly he wants these T-intersections, and how much area I have to work with to support said changes. Will probably have to do these ingame to get a good look at what he wants done.
It has been a long while since I’ve been on the server.

Only thing I worry about, is them curves. And they’re pretty wide, going by his picture. They look even wider than what I had with I-201 on the old map. I had to get suppoe to help me fix it. I’ll probably have to again, if he’s not busy. He might even refuse to help me due to how insane frozen wants the curves.

And that’s what I said in my response(not about “how insane frozen wants the curves”, though). The next response from him will probably be in a new post, as this one is getting a bit redundant.

GTA V for PC pushed back yet again, new screenshots & system specs

This happened three days ago. It’s been announced by Rockstar that the PC version of GTA V has been pushed back to March 25th instead of the 17th. Their reasoning is they want to do polishing and “make it the best game for your buck”. Only wish Blizzard with WoD did…

Sorry. Anyway, they posted some beautiful screenshots to prove they’re still working on it, and how it will look better than any console version. They’ve also released the system specs.
It looks like I’ll be able to run it in mid to mid-highish spec. Find it a bit intimated the fact games now require Quad-Core CPUs, where 5.. 10 years ago, having a Quad-Core felt I was above everyone. It’s also 65GB. Wow.

And that’s all. I’m glad Rockstar is really taking their time with this. This will (hopefully) prove it’s not going to be a shit PC port, and worth the $60. Just hope when we do get this by the end of March, it doesn’t take 8+ hours to install itself ingame.

GTA V completed, thoughts

This was one hell of a ride, but I pulled ‘The Big One’ and am a freakin’ billionaire. Robbing the biggest bank in Los Santos was fun. And what’s even more hilarious, they literally gave me what I wanted.

I still like the game for what it is, and I’m very thankful there’s an option to skip missions I either cannot do or don’t wish to(or both, depending on how pissed I am).

My flying skills are slowly improving; not as panicky as before with the controller. Learning how to bank and fly straight. Turbulence is still a nuisance(wish I could toggle it). Though my landings still need work. These are still those slow propeller type planes. It’ll be a long while until I ‘graduate’ to flying jets.
At least, with the money I got from that big heist, I got Micheal to buy a hanger at the Int’l Airport to give him clearance of flying in and out. And with my(well, his) purchased plane, I can practice without fucking time limits. Just nice, leisurely training exercises with no stress of beating clocks and having to be fast. I can handle that.

So, what’s there to do after the main missions are done? There’s side missions, and getting 100% completion. That’s pretty much it. There’s also GTA Online, but I’m unsure about that. Maybe I will with the PC version, but only if I can host my own server and keep it private (depending if Rockstar uses a server-based system to hold player data).

Still want the PC version, though. Just hope it comes with a custom music radio option, and that feature to skip a mission. And of course first person. If not, I don’t buy it. It’s that simple. Though I have high hopes they all will. Since they’re in the console version, they should be in the PC version for sure.

Why PS4 controllers are cheap made

Since this afternoon, my PS4 controller has been malfunctioning. Obviously it’s what I did yesterday. First started trying to load GTA V. It sat at ‘Loading Story Mode (90%)’ for a good 15 minutes for no reason. No error or anything letting me know it’s something I did.

My other games, Little Big Planet 3/The Swapper/InFAMOUS First Light, they too had issues.
Little Big Planet 3, the controls wouldn’t function.
InFAMOUS First Light, wouldn’t load fully.
The Swapper, the controls wouldn’t function.

After some time, I finally isolated it to my controller. Some of the games will refuse to work if the controller is malfunctioning(GTA V and InFAMOUS First Light). I have to put a bobby pin inside a hole on the back of my controller to reset it. After hitting the PS button, the controller functions correctly.
I have to do this every time I launch a game(twice for Little Big Planet 3). I don’t have the money for a replacement controller, so I have to hope this thing will continue to work until I do.

And when I do, I’ve learned not to take my anger out on it. As the controller is a cheap made (yet expensive) piece of crap.

EDIT: Discovered I cannot play Little Big Planet 3. Resetting it, my L and R buttons refuse to work. Reset it again, and the Triangle, Square, Circle, and X buttons refuse to work (but the L and R buttons work). Resetting it even more than that is pointless, as it just won’t work.
I can’t play it now, all because of my fucking anger over failing and time limits!

Little Big Planet 3 – Where the world is your imagination

Now this, is truly my first non-PC game review; the console-exclusive game series of ‘Little Big Planet’, where the world is comprised of everyone’s imagination. This third game, doesn’t seem to punish you for not playing the other two. I’m glad the devs see them as simply changes in game design instead of extending the plot of the first game.
Your blip of imagination, is what is known as a ‘Sackperson’. Going by my current imagination, it would be the size of a pea.

The game has a story, about these three entities called Titans(not the ones from WoW) that feed on imagination. They are basically your negative thoughts(and mine would be the size of planets). And now the Titans could re-emerge. It’s up to you and a helpful, talking lightbulb with clothes on to save the world.

The talking lightbulb (named ‘Newton’) teaches you the controls of the game as you play(and makes sure you’ve mastered them), instead of just throwing them all out like some games(even like GTA V).
So you can put clothes on your Sackboy. There’s several costumes you can buy for $2.99 each. I got on a Dragon Age Inquisition costume for free(really need to try out that game one of these days on my computer. Heard high praise).

Here’s my likes and dislikes so far;

Likes:
-Happy, charming atmosphere that’s made for kids(and kids at heart).
-Controls are taught to you by NPCs. And they’re taught multiple times until you learn how to master them.
-Love the themes of some of the levels. Some are even 1950’s and 60’s references, including the music.

Dislikes:
-No indication on how many lives you have until you can’t respawn and have to do the level all over again. Your only warning is a siren sound and the respawn portal is red.
-Can’t pause during cutscenes or when an NPC speaks.
-You have to really master your controls once you get the Boost Boots. It isn’t like the others where you can hold down R1.

And that’s basically it. There’s a level I cannot pass, because of the “boost refresher” either is broken or doesn’t refresh the Boost Boots in time. It’s caused me to rage very much to the point I just ragequit. Not good for a game I wanted for a long time.

GTA V – Mission Failed… You suck, stop playing

(A needed rewrite from my original post. This is also the most edited post I’ve ever made)
I got GTA V today. Discovered some money I had stashed and used it. Downloading and installing took up to nine hours. That’s a lot.
Been playing for a few days now. Still getting used to the plethora of controls (such as steering and flying).

The game seems to be similar in ways than GTA IV, as in anything goes. The “safety features” that protect children and stuff, are removed. And this is the result. Such as Los Santos and China competing for “world’s most polluted city”. Just stuff to facepalm and laugh at, that would never be heard on actual TV or the radio.
And the stereotype stuff in this game, sometimes is just too much for me. I could give examples, but I would be offending people. It’s just how I feel.

Trying to understand the plot, it’s pretty much everywhere. Yet the three guys who are part of the game know this, especially Micheal, who all he wanted was to retire in a Mansion in Los Santos, with fast cars. Yet he’s also under the radar via the FIB (they faked his death and stuff). And now he’s getting mixed up in all of this. He’s lost his kids. He’s lost his wife who doesn’t love him. He’s also in therapy.

Franklin, he starts as a kid trying to make somewhat of a living reposing cars, to a sleazy boss who sells them back for double what they paid for. He’s also forced to sell dope and live on the streets, with an Aunt who doesn’t give a fuck about him. He’s getting mixed in this shit, but is willing to do whatever it takes to get paid.

And then there’s Trevor, the crazy, wild asshole. Who’s discovered Micheal isn’t dead anymore and is pissed off, because Micheal took his cut of the profits of a bank heist to pay for that really nice house, while he lives in a poor small town called Sandy Shores, far North of Los Santos.
He wants revenge, and revenge he will have.

Time to talk about the likes and dislikes;

Likes;
-Los Santos is beautiful, compared to the grainy, polluted graphics of GTA IV.
-A way to “cheat” myself out of having to complete an undesirable mission for failing three times, yet still completing. 🙂
-In most scenarios, I can drive safely. Those scenarios are going to a mission or just leisurely driving around.
-There’s still a Classic Rock station (Los Santos Rock Radio), straight from GTA IV. And it has a lot of good 70’s and 80’s music.
-Able to drive anywhere I wish without having to do the main questline to unlock sections of the game (unlike GTA IV).
-The game world is pretty huge.
-Of course, high praises for the First Person view. It’s my favorite.
-Random times where there’s a speeder with a cop car behind them.
-You can save anywhere you want, using your ingame smart phone.
-Realistic, believable physics that you can feel with the vibration of your controller.
-Get a wanted level, and the light on your controller flashes red and blue. With no wanted level, it’s based on who you’re playing (Franklin = Green, Micheal = Blue, Trevor = Orange).
-You don’t ruin the main storyline if you play as just one guy. Eventually, missions for that guy stop showing up, encouraging you to flip to the next guy and do his.
-You can go golfing, with its own GUI. Not something you could do in GTA IV.
No annoying cousin named Roman that bugs you every five minutes, asking to hang out to go bowling. (which of course THIS is the biggest praise)

And the dislikes;
-AI traffic ‘intelligence’. Going on a Red light, passing you while you wait at a red light, sitting on a green light, going really slow for no reason, crashing into other cars, swerving into you for no reason…..just like real life it seems.
-Super sensitive steering controls, with no real options of setting them to be easier.
-Forced street racing mission I couldn’t skip. Thankfully I fucked up so much that the game allowed me to skip and still got paid. All it did was unlock optional street racing missions, which I won’t be doing.
-No way to set your ingame smart phone to use non-military time.
-No way to turn off challenges for most modes (like the shooting range and flight school) to do these at your own pace (and not make me nearly break my controller in two…)

Finally, the neutral stuff:
-I find it somewhat funny of when you have a passenger in your vehicle and if you hit something(and this passenger is saying something to you), the dialog of the NPC stops for two seconds then continues where it left off.
-Proof there’s no “ZoooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMmmmm-bah” button that Dad3 has been famous for, that he can use as an auto-drive. It’s all him with editing the video to go super fast and adding his voice after it.

And so there you have it. I still like it. Not as much as I did with the forced challenges of practicing. “Well, you landed! That’s good.. but it wasn’t fast enough!” *MISSION FAILED*
Wouldn’t that want to make you want to throw your controller down?

InFAMOUS First Light – And I shoot neon out of my fucking hands!

I’m unsure if this is a prequel, a sequel, or just its own game. I’m going to guess the 3rd thing.
So… inFAMOUS First Light. What is it? The plot is simple to understand. There is a group of people who are called ‘Conduits’. They can adsorb liquids, gasses, and neon. They can use this to bend time to their will and move super fast, go up walls, and stuff like that. So, they have superhuman abilities.
The public fears them, so the government locks them up in special containment units, scattered around the four corners of the globe, to begin the long process of learning to cope with this new power, and how to control it.

You play as ‘Thach’, who, several years ago, discovered she too has these powers (she can use neon). Her parents attempt to inform the authorities to control her new power. But your brother is the only one you can trust.
In the initial playthough, you discover heartbreak of losing your brother to violence, and then use your neon powers to tear the city up. Of course, you still do get captured and thrown in one of those containment units. Here you’re forced to relive those painful years of your life.

So here’s what I liked and didn’t;
Like…
-Shooting bad guys with the power of neon.
-Able to run right up buildings.
-The plot is easy to understand.

Dislike…
-Too many buttons to remember at a split second.
-The game world is rather tiny.
-During the initial part of the game, there’s a race you must do to continue with the questline.

Neutral;
-The proving grounds are punishing for beginners. I didn’t even pass the first rescue one in the easiest difficulty.

Overall, it’s a game worth playing, and it’s free for PS+ users.

The Swapper – Now you’re thinking with clones

So, this game. It was featured on Dad3’s channel. He had fun with it. Myself… well, I’m a lot more picky than he is when how a game grows on me. And all I see is a rash on my arm.
And like this rash, the plot of the game… I don’t get its existence.

So you’re this guy who escaped… something, and went to a ship. Why are you on the ship? Why? Maybe your player character is as clueless as you are.
You explore this large dead ship. There’s no enemies. No killing. There is however a device called the “swapper”, that can make four clones of yourself.

In this side-scrolling puzzle game, you use these clones to solve quite difficult puzzles. There are lots of obstacles, such as evil blue and red lights. Yes, lights are your enemy. Curse you, lights! So you do have “enemies”.
Blue lights keep you from placing a clone there. Red lights keep you from swapping with that clone.
There is also these strange messages as you pass through the many loading-free levels of this game, such as “HELLO?” and “WHY MUST BRAINS BLEACH?” .. just a lot of weird shit. Or is it alien language trying to communicate?

So it seems the game does indeed have a story. And that’s all I can say that hasn’t been said. Overall, not really my kind of game. It feels too much like Portal, as in the level of difficulty trying to solve puzzles. Though I will say, it doesn’t suck and definitely worth a try.
Plus, it’s Single Player.

Playing PS4 on monitor?! AWESOME!! .. no sound :/ / The fun of PS+

I’ve been getting bored with my PS4 since my last game review. Maybe I’m just tired of waiting for next month to come. But to be honest, playing on the PS4 is a bit of an issue for me.
I am very lucky to have a 27″ HD HDMI-compatible TV. But with my poor vision (and the fact I refuse to go and get my eyes dilated by an eye specialist to wear glasses), I have to move my chair over just to see the screen.

I’m watching a video from Dad3, of him playing Little Big Planet 3 for the first time. And I pick up my controller, acting like I’m playing the guy while he is, and wondering “Wow, this is fun!! I wish I could actually do this! Play PS4 games on my monitor” But alas, my monitors are ancient. I got them back in 2000, to replace my old CRT monitors. And back then, HDMI (or High Definition for that matter) didn’t even exist.

Yet thankfully, I have a cable I got after I had bought my GPU to get my second monitor working again. It’s a DVI to HDMI converter cable. All I did was remove the one from the back of my PS4 and plug this one in from my computer, and I got the thing working! Was very happy, until I started moving around the menus…. no sound! D:<

I remember my monitor having a port named 'AUDIO' on the back of it, and thought "Ahh, I'll just plug in my speakers!" So I did that… still no sound. Damnit.
I looked around. I posted on the PS forum. Waited a good four hours, only to see "You have to buy an HDMI-compatible monitor", and about how they don't support what I've done.

So that sucks… but anyway, I did the second cheapest thing I could do. Which was to simply move my TV closer to my computer to where I could see it better. Yet when watching regular TV, I get headaches from it being too close. So I had to play with the distance for awhile until I got a right ratio of viewing and less headaches.

To be honest, maybe it's best. By doing this setup, I have no second monitor for my computer, which would had sucked even more.

.
I also got the 14-day free trial of Playstation Plus now. What enticed me is 'free games', including one that I've seen on Dad3's channel.
Getting it was a pain. I had to put in my debit card. Everytime I tried, it kept saying to "enter a valid credit card number”, and I’m all “What the hell?! This IS valid!”
I called PS’s support line. The guy who sort of sounded American, told me that I had to check with my bank, that the card must have a “Address Verification System” for it to work.
Called the bank(had to go through their main system as my local branch was closed at the time). They didn’t know what the hell was going on; why was it saying my card’s number isn’t working and put me on hold.

I looked at what I put on.. quadruple checking everything, then noticed I had the expiration date wrong by one month. I corrected the problem, then put the card number in one giant number and tried again…….. and it worked.
Two minutes later, the person comes back on the phone. I … that was embarrassing, and I could even hear it in her tone as we were about to hang up the call. *facepalm* AGAIN… again human error caused it! Oy…

Anyway, after wasting everyone’s time, I got the free trial started on my console (as I have tried to get a game on the PC version of the system, and it didn’t show up on the console until I did it through that), and was able to download the free games.
There’s only two games. Not really winning me over here. The first one is ‘InFamous First Light'(which I assume is a prequel to InFamous Second Son(played by Dan and his father)), and I got ‘The Swapper’ (which is a game Dad3 played).

Why only two games? Are these the only games available for the PS4? The free trial did mention it’s also for the PS3 and the PS Vita.
Though, I shouldn’t complain. I’m getting $30 worth in free games!

Trine 2: Complete Story (demo) – I really want to shut that bird up with an arrow

This is a series I never gotten into. I was never into side-scrollers (even though I’ve played my share, like Donkey Kong Country on the PSOne). But seeing how I’ve grown desperate to do nearly anything with this PS4 until I actually give it the purpose that I bought it, by buying GTA V, I’ll try anything once (as long as it’s free).

So this demo puts you in the shoes of three adventures; Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the rogue/hunter. They see this strange floating, glowing crystal called the Trine that is bringing them again on another glorious adventure.

Controls are pretty straight forward. Your X is jumping, L3 is moving around, and R2 with R3 is that class’ special ability. And when you get all three, L1 and R1 can cycle through the classes. It seems similar to The Lego Movie game’s style, that each class can only do their abilities. Except, the game believes you’ve learned the controls of all three classes by now. It doesn’t really “hold your hand” per se.

So overall, the game is fun. But I just don’t see myself buying it. Too much in the form of remembering what I’ve learned, and the strengths/weaknesses of the classes. Nice demo, though. Was worth the download.
