Patch 6.2 datamined, Gul’dan’s major role in WoD

Bellular has announced that he found datamined stuff about Patch 6.2, that’s on Wowhead. Now before I continue, what I heard kind of shocked me, yet also shouldn’t really. Gul’dan plays a major roll in this, and it seems almost required to complete the legendary questline to learn what happens.

The below is spoilers from the datamined info. If you wish to learn this on your own, don’t freakin’ click the Spoiler tag. It’s that simple. Don’t flame me if you accidentally do click and are so spoiled, you need to be thrown into the trash can.

Spoiler

There was a climatic released today on Youtube, with Gul’dan trying to convince Grom that the Iron Horde is a joke, most of the Warchiefs are dead because of us(aka, the raiders), and that they didn’t ‘conquer’ anything, and died “for NOTHING”.
Grom retorts “No, fuck you, Gul’dan! They died WITH HONOR!!”, Gul’dan then throws him Gorehowl, proving that even his son, Garrosh, didn’t survive. It is there, when Grom realizes Garrosh, the one that warned him not to drink the demon blood and then go to war against Azeroth, and even saved his life when the Pit Lord died… was his son.
“You have lost everything”, Gul’dan says, then offers demon blood once again, as a way to prove he(Grom) can still be the conqueror he always wanted to be.
He again refuses and charges after Gul’dan in rage, and gets nailed to the wall.

Gul’dan at this point, is really enjoying himself at how pathetic the Iron Horde has turned out to be, and even mocks their “breaking you” words. He then offers the same drink to anyone else, and Killrog Deadeye steps up to the plate, and drinks it down right infront of Grom.
He goes through one hell of a transformation, getting spikes coming out of his skin, and turns black instead of green. This is when Gul’dan says he’s taking over to make a new Iron Horde, one that will control a legion and seriously pose a threat to us, our Garrison, and Azeroth.

This gives a lot of questions;
-Will we see fel orcs because of this?
-Will the Burning Legion return, and be even worse than in The Burning Crusade?
-Will the past repeat itself (Draenor turning into Outland)?
-How did Gul’dan get more demon blood when Mannorth is dead? Is there another Pit Lord?
-What’s going to happen to Grom Hellscream? Is he going to finally see that we aren’t the threat, and the Burning Legion is and join us to get revenge on Gul’dan? Or will he be all “I rather die with honor than to join you raiders!!”?
-Is Gul’dan going to attempt to re-open the Dark Portal, even though we destroyed it? Will he go to an Alternate Azeroth and wipe us out before we were ever ‘born’ as player characters? If so… he’s a greater threat than Deathwing.

Anything’s possible at this point. But I doubt silly things like “going back and time and making sure our characters were never created” (aka, we never played WoW), could happen. I mean, Deathwing alone threatened to destroy our planet. We stopped him. Gul’dan, he’s not being controlled by old gods. He’s pretty much his own orc, working for the Burning Legion (an old threat of ours). There’s no known lore dating back to where Gul’dan was born and why he’s like this.

[collapse]

Still reading? I hope so. So anyway, it’s just a shame that all the good stuff to move the story forward, seems to be gated behind the Legendary Questline (aka raiding). Though it’s still good that they are actually moving the story of WoD into something quite interesting.

How this plays out, I imagine we could see some more Burning Legion stuff in Patch 6.3. Yet the thing is, it’s also possibly bad news for raiders at this point. The ‘Iron Citadel’ in Tannan Jungle could be the final raid in WoD.

Minecraft coop with Angry, this time in FTB

I believe I’m done playing co-op with angry. It’s just never going to work out. Both of us have our own ways of playing, and getting in eachother’s ways.
This time, it was in Feed The Beast using the latest Direwolf20 pack.

He’s trying to show me all of these neat mods for Minecraft. While I just want to play legit the way I’ve learned to play. That’s all there is to say. Yet I’m too depressed to play legit on my own. I won’t give these new mods a chance.

It’s actually quite hard to give them a chance, when he’s showing me different mods at the same time. Such as this Botany mod of taking special flowers and throwing their pedals in a pot to make other special flowers, and generate Mana with them.
Yet instead of keeping up with this, he’s suddenly going to Blood Magic. All I see is more of a mess in our ‘front yard’. We’ve scarred the land so bad, that if this was the MRT, we’d both get temp banned for what we’ve done. I just don’t like it. At least, living in a cave, there’s no land scarring. It’s kept mostly natural.

There’s two things that made me just not want to play anymore. The first thing, is when he made a Turtle from Computercraft, that its only purpose was harvesting a single Rain Plant…something we could had easily done by ourselves, just running around the world and collecting them.
And the second, it was part of that Blood Magic mod. I had to stand there and give my blood to this altar constantly.
He had me make these things, and here I was getting annoyed this was taking so long. And the thing I feel I ‘worked my ass off’ was …. something that acted as Bonemeal. I spent 10 minutes, doing nothing but constantly having to have my life drained to fill up the altar (and occasionally having to eat)… for something we could had just killed several Skeletons and ground their bones up to make THE SAME FUCKING THING!! It wasn’t even automated! That… was it. That’s when I snapped. I just couldn’t take it anymore.
What I mean by “snapped”, was when I told him exactly how I felt. He hesitated to give me an answer at first, yet when he did, it was already something that I knew. All that was being done, was him trying to give me something to do, because I was bored. And yes, I was. It was mostly “Meh..” as my feelings to him telling me to make this and that.

And that was the end of it.

Twitter’s WoW-themed accounts (not talking selfies)

Instead of doing what I had planned to end my WoW subscriptions in a good way, I’ve been putting it off. I guess because “Ugh… I don’t wanna do Garrison shit again!”
Been watching gaming videos (like stuff from Guild Wars 2), and occasionally popping on the MRT’s Mumble channel for a quick chat.
I also discovered that I can get a downloadable copy of the game for $40 from Amazon. So, that’s good. Was kind of wondering if I should get it before the 17th, for it to arrive on that day in a retail box.

Anyway, back to the point of this post, I’ve been noticing more and more of these RP-like accounts of various WoW characters. Such as, being able to tweet to the king of the Alliance. What’s funny is the occasional tweet back and forth of other people pretending to be characters from WoW.
Such as the discussions between Gul’dan and the Shadow Council, or Kalac being shy and hiding in his dragon form around Jaina.

Though I would love to tweet to the king and say “Your highness, me and my followers grow bored in my Garrison. The Iron Horde doesn’t attack. Request to go back home?”
I checked if Deathwing had a Twitter account.., and apparently not. Because he’s dead. Good riddance.

2 & 1/2 weeks ’till my WoW subs expire, how I’m prepping for GW2

As I said before, I could buy Guild Wars 2 at anytime I wish. But I want to feel I’m transitioning from one MMO to another.
I’m trying to think of how I can prepare myself for my final playthrough of WoW (unless Patch 6.2 does actually bring more awesome and less bullshit). I really want it to feel momentous. Having to say goodbye to such great memories, while hopefully making some new ones in Guild Wars 2.
What I’ll probably do is to get my Warlock and Tauren Hunter to Level 100, and do most of the… tolerable 6.1 content that I can stand, with them and Benie as well. What I can see by ‘tolerable’ is the Garrison questline.

First off, I need to get that script I’m using to tell followers to STFU, updated for 6.1. For some reason it broke. But I think a simple edit of the version in the .toc should suffice to get it going again.
If not, I’ll have to bump the thread I made to get the script (or just make another one) to hopefully get someone to do necessary edits on it.

I also got The Darkmoon Faire to look forward to, as my possible final time at said zone.

Once this is all pretty much done, then… depending on the date (as it would take 2-3 days each to level a 90 to 100 legit), I might get Guild Wars 2 by then, or just wait ’till the 17th.

Ad Blockers and the future of YouTube

I’ve watched Nerd3 for quite some time, but Dan is giving a somewhat of a warning for people in his latest “Soup with Nerd3” video, that things which block ads from appearing are bad.
He claims he’s losing money, because more people are using ad blockers. How? He claims that when an ad displays, he gets double the revenue, which means more videos for us. He also says that if everyone does use ad blockers, Google will stop getting money from YouTube (and possibly shut it down because there’s no point).

I’m guilty as charged for using Ad Blockers. And… I dunno. I feel I should feel bad for Dan and allow ads. But when I watch Youtube, I expect to watch the video only and not ads. It’s a double edged sword. On one side, I watch Youtube the way I want, yet I doom people who are trying to make a living off of making videos (like Dan).
Yet if I get rid of the ad blockers, I’ll risk getting adware in my computer (if some video exploits the ad system and puts a virus in), yet people making a living will be happy as they’ll get more money.

I’m sorry, Dan. But I’m going to continue to use my ad blocker. I watch Youtube for videos, not ads. If this means I’m “contributing” to Dan shutting down his channels as he’s not making money anymore, then…….. so be it.
But that’s not to say I won’t feel bad if this actually happens. I will. Plus, even if I did remove my ad blocker, yet everyone else didn’t, the same scenario could still happen.
But that’s why you tell your non-existent(in my case) friends. Spread the word, before it actually does happen.

Honestly, if I started making videos, I wouldn’t be using Youtube as a source of income.

Maybe I was wrong about Far Cry 4…

I’ve been watching a walkthrough series from the legendary gamer and YouTuber; theRadBrad. He got me into wanting Bioshock Infinite. He got me into wanting Dead Space 3. He even got me into Skyrim.

And he may get me into wanting Far Cry 4. He feels the game is like “a remastered (polished) version of Far Cry 3”. Yet even though, he praises 3 (so far) over 4. Mainly because the main antagonist is in your face a lot more, while this Pegan guy just lets you kill his men and doesn’t give a care (and occasionally randomly talks to you). I actually agree with this. Vass was a fucking badass. This guy feels he’s gay (no offense to any gay people reading this, at all).

So, why does this feel somewhat different to me, that might change my mind? First off, the main protagonist, his only mission is to spread his mother’s ashes in a place far north in Karat. That’s pretty noble of him. He’s no warrior, and also there’s no stupid ‘tatau’ he wears.
All he’s known is the son of someone famous that helped what is known as ‘The Golden Path’.
The other thing, there’s several parts in the story that you have to choose between two people and their different beliefs of a same specific area. For example: Do you rescue these people and this place, or do you destroy it to protect the land? How you choose them, affects certain aspects of the game (how people see you and stuff).
Only one dislike about this, the game only has one save. So you can’t be all “I’ll do two saves, one per each person. Then I’ll know which one was the better choice.”

EDIT: After watching more of theRadBrad’s series, I literally stopped the video and said “Alright, Ubisoft. You sold me. *opens up wallet and pulls out credit card* Shut up and take my money!” That game.. wow. There’s a LOT more to it than I thought!
Occasionally you get this mission, where you’re in the shoes of this Chinese guy in Shanghai China. Any second, I was hoping to see a dragon in it.
The world seems to hold a lot of secrets, even more than I’ve seen of Far Cry 3. It’s probably the reason why Pegan doesn’t really do as much as Vass did(in the badass meter).

EDIT2: Watching theRadBrad’s playthrough of Far Cry 3 and comparing it with 4. I’ve noticed quite a lot of changes.
-The UI looks more clean.
-No bothersome tutorials. The controls are displayed before you do the action instead of requiring you to press a key.
-The crafting UI is more user friendly. Infact, made easier (the game auto-crafts a syringe for you when you get two Green Leafs).
-The minimap and the ingame map look nicer and more 3D.
-Sleeping has been re-added from Far Cry 2. Yay for this. Though it’s not as cool as it was back then. Still, you can save your game here.
-Comparing the two main protagonists, Jason and Ajay.. well. I want to say that Ajay isn’t “a wimpy teenager”, yet not everyone has a strong courage when faced with death and forced to kill things for survival. Jason does feel more developed than Ajay.

I’ll probably wait until it goes on sale again. It went on sale last weekend. $60 feels a bit too much for what you get. $40 would be more reasonable. Especially if the Gold edition goes on sale.

Minecraft Survival “co-op” with Angry… wish I could do more

Since watching Al’s videos of him and a friend of his playing Far Cry 4, I really wish I had a friend that would do the same. How much fun those two had, and Al seemed to know more than his friend.
Because, playing a game with friends is fun and builds a team-based relationship.
Though I only have angry, who doesn’t play that many games, or even games I would play. But, I did survival co-op in Minecraft with him. There was no ‘building of team-based friendship’…
Most of the time, he was doing all the work while I was just walking around trying to find something to do, while also staying alive. I was waiting for him to tell me “come help me mine” or something like that. But no, he’s making the tools. He’s building the houses. He’s mining the ore. What am I doing? Waiting for him to say something.

And even when I was able to help him, it just went back to him doing all the work, and hardly any communication between us. Just recently, he’s gathering obsidian to go the Nether. He never once said “We should make armor”. In a co-op, you work together on the same project. Chopping wood. Killing enemies. Exploring. You do it together as a team. There… there was no team thing. It was us doing our own thing.
Like when he said “we need sugar cane”. Guess what happened? I went out and looked for it. Not both of us, just me… while he went exploring for things I had no idea what for.

I don’t want our friendship to be based on just him co-hosting this website and doing all the coding work, while I’m typing in a blog post that hardly anyone reads except myself.
I want to be able to do more with him(aka, playing good games with him). I also want to be able to know more about a game than him(like Al), yet also not to a point I have to teach him every little thing about the game (like when it came to him playing WoW).

But, ehh… maybe it’s just not meant to be. Or, I just need to talk to him about how I really feel.

Why I feel Far Cry 4 isn’t worth the money

I’ve been asked quite a few times, of if I’m going to play Far Cry 4 and do a review on it. Well… I don’t have to, and I can still give one. And it’s not the fact it still uses uNoUseSteamForThis.
Far Cry 4 is pretty much, Far Cry 3 with added bells and whistles. Sure, it’s not on an island complex and it’s in a temperate to cold place.

See.. all you do to play Far Cry 4, is liberate every base to get rid of all of the question marks in the map. That and occasionally take out convoys, defend bases, rescue hostages, do Karma Events (save people from enemies), get two packages as quick as you can to a specific area, and defend a moving truck. You also have a wingsuit which allows you to approach areas a different way, and also the personal mini three-seated helicopter.
The game also has Single Player deathmatch, pitting you against NPCs of increasing difficulty (and based on killing with a specific weapon).

But really, you still got ‘kill thing with ONLY this weapon’ missions. Enemies also stop spawning when you liberate all the bases. Combat is the same. You still got takedowns, and knife throw ones. Though the crafting system has been a bit changed, as that if you collect two green leafs, the game auto-crafts a syringe for you.
How is this worth $60? Ohh yes. You can ride a freakin’ elephant into battle. And the game can also go Co-Op to invite your friends into your game. You couldn’t do these things in Far Cry 3.

Still doesn’t feel it’s worth $60. Or even $40 for that matter. The difference between Far Cry 1 and 2 were huge. And the difference between Far Cry 2 and 3 were pretty big too. Why does Far Cry 4 feel so…. copied? It feels like what should had been made an expansion for Far Cry 3, instead its own game.

But we all know how much Ubisoft loves money instead of their customers.

Red Faction: Guerrilla – Stop, hammertime to your face!

I’ve had this game for quite awhile, but never bothered to play it. Since I got the road done on the MRT, I’ve been in a ‘bleh’ mood. Wanted something to do, yet didn’t know what to do.
I saw Dan was doing a ‘Nerd 3 Completes’ series of this game, and thought of giving it a go. Having played it for the first five minutes, I can see why he likes this game. I personally didn’t in the past, as the game looked… grainy and old. I just found it a bit boring running around destroying random things. Plus, I didn’t get why this ‘EDF’, who are the good guys, are after you. It seems like you’re a bad guy.
It still does, but I’m trying to get over it. “Because if Dan likes it, I should!” He’s the one who can’t recommend it enough.

It’s sometime in the future, and Mars has been terraformed and made breathable to humans. You play as Alec Mason, a Class C demolitions expert who’s sent to Mars to look for honest work, by destroying abandoned structures. The EDF(Earth Defense Force) is in control of the planet. Something’s happened to them over the years, and they’ve turned from helping the human race, to threatening and murder.
The ‘Red Faction’, who still fight for freedom, are the only ones standing in their way. But with their numbers dwindling, they need help.

Your bother is here, and he tells you how to destroy stuff with your sledgehammer and explosive charges. Destroying a structure is as realistic as possible in a game. By destroying the supports, the building whines and creaks under stress until eventually it falls down. How it falls, depends on where you hit the critical weak points.
You can get Scrap from this (the currency of the game), which can be turned into useful stuff (like being able to throw more explosive charges, or stronger charges) by turning it in.

You lose your brother to the EDF. And so, like it or not (since the EDF is going to kill you anyway), you’re drafted into the Red Faction to liberate Mars from the EDF. You become a bad guy, which.. I don’t particularly like. But neither did your brother, who tried to convince you that what they have to do is to help people, and the EDF are ‘the real bad guys’.

And that’s pretty much the theme of the game. You destroy things owned by the EDF, and run away from the bullets heading towards you afterwards. You also have the option of liberating colonists from the EDF.

Patch 6.1 tomorrow, and a possible reason why core content was cut

I said that March 17th would be “my final WoW post”. Well… that’s changed a small bit. As pissed off as I still am of Blizzard, was two videos that might make me reconsider. One from Nobbel, and the the other from Bellular. I’m also all caught up on Youtube videos. I haven’t watched any videos of my subscriptions since Valentine’s Day.

The first one was from Bellular, who announced the release date of the patch. It’ll be February 24th, which happens to be tomorrow(and on a Tuesday). In his video, were dev interviews and also a kind of maybe (or not) discussion of flying in Patch 6.2.
They announced they’ll be working on that whole Iron Docks hub that was ‘unveiled’ as datamined info. That’s all that’s known.

But Nobbel, was the one that made me rethink my course of action. Though, I’ll still be going for Guild Wars 2, this might encourage me to pay attention to what 6.2 may have to offer, and it even might be worth re-subscribing to.
His thing was about all of the Garrison Campaigns that are available once you reach Level 100. There’s some I’ve never done, which includes your Garrison Architect (on the Alliance) giving his life to protect the one he loves, and you getting revenge with the full force of your Garrison against Grom Hellscream.
Then he dares you to go to Tannan Jungle. Interesting. Very interesting. This proves that Tannan is going to be a thing in a future update.

And the final thing, he mentioned it’s possible that Blizzard needs more time to work on making Tannan Jungle a place for us to go. He said YES, that it should had been with the release, that YES it should had been in 6.1. But he believes they just weren’t ready in that section of the game.
How can they not be? THEY HAD SEVERAL FUCKING MONTHS!!! Were most of those put on the Garrison?! If so.. then… *lowers finger and walks away*
It does explain why 6.1 is a joke, if this is the truth. And also why the whole Iron Docks hub thing not done in 6.1. Apparently it was a part of the Garrison Campaign, yet ‘scrapped’.

Since Patch 6.1 releases tomorrow, it will give me a purpose to check out the new Garrison Campaign quests, and the ones from Harrison Jones. I never did these on the PTR, as to not spoil myself. I’m not making the same mistake I did on the WoD Beta.
For Patch 6.2… as always, I will be cautiously optimistic.
