One week of Guild Wars 2 / WoW subs expired

It’s officially been one week since I joined Guild Wars 2. From a complete and total n00b, struggling to level due to its system, I’m quite impressed I’ve reached Level 62 in just a week.
I’ve learned so much about this game, and I didn’t even join a Guild. I’m not that social guy who wants to be in a Guild as I was back in 2005 with WoW.
I feel confident now, that I’ll reach 80 without a Guild as well. And I won’t even need to bother with crafting.

Speaking of WoW, my accounts have now expired. I’m free from WoW, and it feels good. Good to get away from that time-traveling BS, stupid “selfie patches”, and lies from a game company that’s lost its ability to really listen to its community.
Yeah, no more of that. I don’t even miss the old times. Guild Wars 2 is my MMO now.

.
And that’s all there is to say.

GW2 update / Level 60, and one hell of a Story quest

Quite a few things happened today. Got the first update since I got the game. It gave me First Person, and being able to finally having an option to set the zoom speed.
Though it did some with bugs. Two famous ones, are claiming you’re not in a Guild when you are, and hearing “Help please!” “Turret deployed!”, and other random player character emotions (when there’s no one around me).
Both bugs haven’t been fixed, despite two “hotfixes” we got.

The other, I got to Level 60. From doing the shortest Story Quest @ 50, to doing the longest @ 60. This went above and beyond, getting me to 62 by the time it was done. I really, really liked it. It’s one of the best content-oriented things I’ve seen of this game. Several times, I thought for sure that I was going to have to wait ’till 70 to see the rest of this. But wow, was I wrong. So much content done into one story quest.
I even learned quite a few new things about the game. Such as why the game is called “Guild Wars”(due to the Charr and the Humans), and about the bad relationship of several people of a disbanded Guild, that was called “Destiny’s Edge”.

I got to fight off armies of undead, risen by two of the Elder Dragons. Even got to kill one of them (with the other to be killed (hopefully) upon reaching Level 70), after the sacrifice of a NPC friend who didn’t believe in himself until now.
He was a Charr, but he was pretty awesome. The voice acting. The model. I… I just really liked him, and he will be missed dearly. Thankfully, you can avenge him by taking back a base.

There’s another thing, in one of the southern zones. It’s a personal event, of where you meet the Risen Commander, the one who presumably killed your friend, and is willing to do the same thing to you. I’ll be looking forward to doing this tomorrow, to give myself (and the order I work with) closure. Plus, it’ll be one less threat to Tyria.
I’m still amazed, how all of this still lacks a subscription fee. It’s the best $15 I ever paid for (for the game alone).

My first GW2 dungeon / Halfway to 80 / Gear issues…?

A day ago, I was going to do a WoW VS Guild Wars 2 comparison, but either it would be too long, or too short. Either way, it didn’t work. I was also going to talk about how I needed better gear.

Anyway, going to the real point of this newest post. I did my first dungeon in Guild Wars 2. It’s called the Ascalonian Catacombs, and features a story about how the Humans and the Charr “met”.
The humans, I assume saw the Charr as a threat and attacked them. Then the Charr attacked back and took their lands back. But the king of this place didn’t want to admit defeat, and caused all the remaining humans to become Ghosts of their former selves. The way I see it, the king did a FUS RO DAH (oh wait, wrong game. Sorry).

So, setting up for a run was quite easy. It’s similar to the way the new content finder added in WoD, works (possibly another copy from Blizzard). You go to your Hero page, and select the LFG option. There you have a list of World PvP, dungeons, asking help with leveling, and asking help with doing your own Story quests.
There you say “Looking for group” and just wait ’till its filled up. Then you must go to the Charr starting area. You’re greeted by a screen that asks you if you need more people for the dungeon, or just go in.

Things I’ve noticed that are completely different from dungeons in WoW;
-No Tank/Healer/DPS class restrictions. Which means no “let me come back as my Mage”.
-Anyone can tank.
-Being able to heal yourself, you’re your own Healer. Though there is options to heal allies.
-Since there’s no true healers, if you see a downed player, it’s common courtesy to help the player up by filling up a bar to get them back on their feet. Warning, though, as this bar can take a bit. It’s not a good idea to resurrect during a large fight, as you too have a risk to be downed.
-Dungeons have waypoints. But so do some of the dungeons in WoW.

And that’s all that I’ve seen. The second thing, I’ve hit the halfway point. That’s pretty impressive for someone that’s only been playing for 5 days. Already of some zones, I’m noticing how they’re getting a bit more… how you say.. not n00b-friendly? Maybe that’s not what I’m going for. Oh yes! Intimidating! That’s the word!
For example, I go through one of those portals into a Level 40-50 area. I’m noticing on the World Map, I’m getting farther and farther South to where the Level 80 content is, and probably where the Elder Dragons are. I can barely see with so much snow in the air.
It’s like in Borderlands 2, of the area before dealing with Jack. The map is lava-filled, the sky is messed up, and the music is all weird-sounding. It’s very intimidating. It feels hostile, and unfriendly. Like looking at the gaping jaws of a massive beast. Makes me question if it’s… worth getting to 80. But, that’s why I’m doing this. To get to 80 without a Guild, and soloing all the way. And, as knowledge of what to do when I get there.

.
And now I get to my random discussion thing.
-Swords are hilariously fun to use, especially hearing a satisfying *CLAAAANG* sound of having a killing blow. The whacking animation when doing it, makes it even more hilarious. So is the screaming of the mob when it happens. Talk about “getting medieval on your asses”.
-I’ve made it my sworn duty to brutally slaughter any and all Raccoons in the game, all because they remind me of Cortesi on the MRT Server. I literally catch myself yelling “DIE CORTESI!!”, followed by a nice *CLAAAANG* with my Greatsword. 😛
-Icebrood Wolves are really sad to kill. Their whines when you whack them, coupled with their sad whine on death, just brings me to tears when it plays. It makes me think, they’re forced to try to kill me, even though they don’t want to. God damn my emotions. :/
-It seems I’m not fucking up with my stats afterall. I asked what stats are needed for survival, and was told Power, then Precision and/or Ferocity. I got a few that have Condition Damage, which extend the duration of debuffs to my target(and how damaging they are). But most have Power.

My beef with Guild Wars 2 (certain things I cannot just ignore)

I’ve been playing for about three days now, and I made it to Level 30. Still struggling to level. I mentioned in my last post, how this is no “WoW Killer”. It upsets me that it is.

Yet what upsets me more (and also makes me question), is how in the fuck can people stand this… minimal leveling experience? That’s my only real complaint with this game.
Again, mfish warned me about this. But I never knew it would be this bad. Yet no one seems phased by it. Maybe because they’ve been doing it for 2 & 1/2 years, and it’s just burned into your skull of what to do.

Why is it this ‘Heart’ quest system, the only true way to quest? Fish said not to expect ‘breadcrumb’ quests, yet said I have to look for them. I thought, that’s fine. Yet now I disagree with myself. Exploring only goes so far to the point it’s tedious.
He also warned, no mounts. I thought that meant “Ok, so the levels are going to be small”. No. They’re not. There are those waypoints, which are very helpful indeed. However I feel at times, they take full advantage of your misfortune (for not having mounts in this game).
I did get a Signet that gives me a 25% movement increase (“Signet of the Hunt”).

I do the ‘Heart’ quests, and… that’s it. My only other options are to risk my virtual life, trying to get 100% of the zone (Waypoints/Vistas/POIs/Skill Points).
I’ve looked for a Youtube video to help me get the Vistas(as most are fucking annoying to get to.. seriously, fuck Parkour-based puzzles). The issue is trying to find an up to date video. Anything 1-2 years old, the zone isn’t the same shape, or things aren’t there like they would currently. It makes that video worthless. For example, trying to find a video for the Vistas in Lion’s Arch. All but one, showed the portals to the other cities in a different area than currently (or things moved around). Very annoying.

Anyway, I did ask if it’s worth going to the other starting areas and work to my level, to help me level even further to 80. They say yes, and also add that finding all of that crap helps. Ugh. Why am I so against it?!
Because it’s not what I’m used to. In WoW, your primary form of leveling is questing. There’s TONS of quests to help you get from 1 to whatever the level cap is.
This game… there’s so VERY LITTLE. And when I do complete them and seek out a new Scout to get the next, they’re 2-3 levels above me! I’m literally screwed!
The fact I’ve been so used to WoW(playing off and on for over 8 years), I….I just don’t think I’ll ever get over this new system. It just doesn’t feel “natural” to me. It doesn’t feel normal. Yet no one else is having an issue.

Another thing that really pisses me off, especially how they (the developers) said in one of their promotion videos about how they hate it when you have to grind, and how something you kill stays dead… then why is it I keep getting repeat random events?
For example, the Centaur are mortal enemies of the Humans. A random event comes up to defend a town I just helped out with a heart quest. I do so. 20 minutes later.. the same town goes under attack with the SAME issue as before!
This isn’t grinding? Really?! Killing the same mobs. Doing the same things, over and over (all to level up), IS GRINDING!!! D:<
And what I get told, it "helps with leveling". It's still grinding! It's the developers lying to me. And I've had enough with devs lying to me (aka Blizzard).

And, oh yeah. This Level 25-35 area? Constantly I see "Boss X up". Now I see where Blizzard got their idea for the world bosses. I thought the devs in GW2 said "something you kill stays dead". Not here. More lies.

.
EDIT: So, I made a thread in the GW2 forum, going over the fact the devs lied. I thought for sure that the thread would either go ignored, or would get bad replies. Actually… no. I even got a link to a discussion about grinding in MMOs (and gaming in general).
Other people are actually tired of this, yet I've never met any of them online (which is quite obvious, as they're too busy having fun with their friends to give a fuck).
Anyway, was also obviously told that I don't HAVE to do these random events. But, that's also interesting. Since I heard that your actions as a player, can either doom or save something. Hmm. Now, it doesn't seem to matter. That's actually good. This means I can play my way, and not suffer consequences for not saving a town.
Maybe, this is something else I'm thinking of (like Level 80 content).

But a problem is, how I'm struggling to level up. I'm forced, to do these repeat random events, JUST to level! That’s what sucks about this game!
All I can say is…. I’m glad this is a F2P game. Because, if I had to pay a monthly fee for grinding (and a sub-standard way of leveling), I’d be pissed.

One thing that worries me. That I do all of these starter areas, and the areas beyond that, that I’ll eventually run out of options to get XP. Because I would had filled every heart, I’ll have every Vista viewed, every POI reached, and I’ll have every Skill Point earned. That’s all. That’s all my options, outside of dungeons, PvP, and crafting.
I’d be screwed. But hopefully it’ll be enough to get me to 80. If not… I dunno what I’m going to do.

Blizzard wants MY feedback?

The irony is rich. A day after I leave WoW, it’s like Blizzard knew and sent me an email, asking for my opinion on their products.
Asking for my feedback… this is just too good. It’s like them kissing my feet and begging me not to leave WoW.

So I did their silly survey. They asked what games I played, did I attend BlizzCon using the Virtual Ticket, if I would attend BlizzCon 2015 (um, no), and the more I did it, it wasn’t to kiss my ass, but to promote a BlizzCon Pre-party thingy they’re doing at Disneyland in California.
……Why would I fucking care about California? Are they going to pay for the tickets(plane + Disneyland admission)? The hotel? The transportation? No to all three. Yet they keep asking “what would make you want to go?” and offering no “Fucking pay my way there!” option. Seriously. Fuck off, Blizzard. Go suck some more from your ‘troll community’ bottle.

Then it finally goes to “What if we allow you to purchase a goodie bag if you get the Virtual Ticket”, and I’m all “Hmmm…”. Next one.. “Would you pay $35 + shipping for it?” And I’m all “WHAT?! NO!!” They already ripped me off by buying the expansion!

And that, is it. Survey done. That was a waste of my time. It was clearly a promotion gimmick, cleverly inserted into a bullshit “We CARE for our community!! Please tell us what you think about us!” survey.

What did I expect this survey to be? “We noticed you left the game. We’re sorry you did(even though we really don’t mean it, you’re easily replaced). What can we do to get you to come back and make us even more rich?”
My answer? If you didn’t know, you haven’t been reading all of my WoW blog posts. If you have, then you already know.

Guild Wars 2 – Q&A’s for me (and opinions)

Instead of waiting ’till mfish got on the MRT, and then go harra– I mean, ask him for his name on the server and hopefully he could help me, the game does have a forum, with a helpful section for new players.

I now know the following, from the questions I posted in last night’s post (plus some new ones I thought of);
-Pets can be renamed, they don’t grow old (don’t get why they’ve got the ‘Juvenile’ tag, then. Maybe for RP purposes), and you can tame a pet just by walking up to one and hitting the F key. Though I’m sure you can’t do that to any mob, as they will beat your brain out when they aggro.
-There is a death punishment, and it’s slightly similar to WoW. Your gear gets damaged. Yet, repairs are free. So that’s really nice.
-There are profession trainers, in major cities and outside, though it’s recommended to go to a major city, as they have crafting stations.
-Addons aren’t allowed. Period. That’s understandable. No problem here.

Here’s the things I’m still confused on (just trying to understand their wording, and ignoring the anger coming from my mind of some of them);
-Still don’t get why the server doesn’t set the game time. I keep being told different reasons, but nothing really clear. Whatever, I actually like it like this. Though I wish there was an ingame time option, instead of local/server time.
-There’s “no” AFK system (what I’ve been told), yet another guy says “if you AFK too long, you’ll go to the character select screen”. Um… what?! Is there, or isn’t there?
-The two parter question that made me question the questing system. I’m getting a whole bunch of words. Most of these feel like they’re saying “we’re OK with filling up a bar to complete a quest, as we’ve been doing it for 2 and 1/2 years. I don’t see why you’re complaining”.
It makes me wonder, who borrowed ideas from whom? Because questing is, like I said last night, like those Bonus Objectives from WoD. And the bar, similar to doing an Apexis daily(except there’s more than just mindlessly grinding). Did WoW take ideas from Guild Wars 2, when they made WoD? If so, that worries me. Because, those are ‘ideas’ I hate… and one of the reasons I left WoW.

And the second part, boils my blood. From what I’m reading, this is nearly as bad(if not as bad) as EverQuest. I’m being told “there’s tons of XP”, yet the sources just make it worse. There’s exploring(that’s fine), crafting(meh), farming(are we talking grinding, or actual farm farming?), and doing the random events(at least that’s something)… that’s IT! No questing! How…I thought they said, they don’t like the fact you have to grind. Then why in the fuck am I having to grind to level?! Do they not know what the term “grind” means, when it comes to MMOs? This..these can’t be my only options! There has to be some form of questing!

This is not good. I need to talk to mfish. … I think I wasted $15 on something that lied to me.

EDIT: … It’s not really that bad. Hell, I just got to Level 10, and I hardly grinded. Though, I just did an escort mission twice. It was the same escort mission I did last night, except with slightly higher-leveled enemies, to match my level.

Exploring is the key, it seems. I explored up to 87% of the human capital city. And holy fuck, this thing is 3x bigger than Stormwind! After that, I got a calling to head back to the leveling area via a very large portal. That’s when I got informed of an event right infront of me, to protect that thing again.
Now I’ve hit Level 10, and I got something that Blizzard took away from Hunters: Barrage. Ohh how I missed it! And it’s pretty cool. Good for dealing with multiple enemies.
I also was able to do my second Personal Story mission (which I’m still doing). I had to defend my foster family from a bully and his friends, and almost got arrested in the process. But due to my heroism, I was saved from going to prison (I think, anyway). Now I got to go find medicine for a friend.

I also got my first profession, which is called the ‘Huntsman’. Speaking of that, I did find where the profession trainers are in the human city. The interface, makes no sense at all.

EDIT2: I was briefly with mfish in the game. I had to run into Mumble and talk to him. He says he got burned out by a massive World PvP event. He showed me his shiny white Charr.
He mentions how “endgame content is coming”. I assume he was talking about the expansion (titled ‘Heart of Thorns’, or HoT) that just entered closed beta, during PAX East.
He then showed me the Charr dance animation, which looked really weird. Then again, the Draenei clapping dance in WoW would want a word with me. After that, he showed me where the World PvP portals are, and mentioned if I wanted to powerlevel to 80, to go to one of these. I think I’ll pass.

I didn’t really learn much from him. Only things I know, is you can have two crafting professions, including a 3rd (if you use Gems). I never asked him where you find Gems. But he said to not be afraid of using the Wiki.
But even doing that, I hardly know what I’m reading. I need to be visually shown what the hell to do. Such as these Skill Points. I guess I’m just struggling to figure out, simply, what the hell I need as a Ranger.
At least gearing up is a lot simpler, than WoW.

EDIT3: After playing for some time, even defeating a fucking World Boss that popped out of nowhere (with the help of 25+ other players, of course), I just don’t feel this is the “WoW killer” that I hoped for.

Here’s some reasons why;
-The leveling, mfish claims it’s the best part of the game. I…disagree. It feels repetitive (eg: Defend this place from Centaurs.. again), and having to search for hearts and places to explore, is starting to get on my nerves. I think the fact I have to run everywhere. I’m used to being on a mount in WoW.
-Unnecessary 3rd person dialog (Story quests only) that breaks immersion (NPCs talking and looking like they’re barely staring at eachother). I think this might be able to be switched off in the settings.
-Not knowing what crafting mats I absolutely need for professions.
-No new Ranger abilities after Level 10. I’m Level 16 now.
-What items from professions are most useful for a Ranger. Obviously it’s a bow. Yet I keep getting offhand items.
-Leather armor is too damn bland and boring. But I think that’s why dye is in the game.

I’m debating if I should join a guild that helps newbies. Though I keep hoping I can learn this crap on my own. Before in WoW, I really wanted to learn everything. Now, I… I just don’t know. Right now, I just don’t see a need for professions. I can kill pretty much anything (as long as it’s not a really high level).

I’m still giving this game a chance. It’s no “WoW killer”, but it still has its place.

Guild Wars 2 – The sensible, anti-BS MMO. What I’ve learned

It feels great to finally leave WoW after so many years of screaming at it.
*rubs hands together* Right! Time to get started with Guild Wars 2!

Launching is simple. Just asked for my email and password, and if I agreed to the EULA. Also had a thing showing the current news of the game.
When I got in, I was immediately greeted by the server list. Found the server mfish plays. It gives a warning about selecting this as “your personal home”, and that if I wish to change, I would have to pay.
Interesting. So, you can’t have chars on multiple servers. I never did when I played WoW, so it’s no biggy.

Selecting that, goes to the character select screen. Hmm. This is nothing like what I’ve been used to. I wanted to be able to set my graphics first. Notice that it’s set to full screen, but at least it matches my resolution.
Anyway, I thought of playing as a Human Ranger. As, well… you know, Benie is? So why not? Hopefully the name is available.

Oh wow. These options. It’s definitely like what I saw; The Sims 3’s CAS system in this game. Did my best to make a me… and.. well, I did my best. I’ll take a screenshot of him later.
I’m now able to choose one of three pets; a bear, a cat, and a.. what the fuck is that thing? A slug?! It’s called a “Drake”, so I think “A dragon? That looks nothing like a dragon”. Still went with it.

Now I’m having to personalize my char’s story. I can first choose that I’m Charming, that I have dignity, or that I’m ferocious…. NONE of these are me! Where’s “coward”? Where’s “lazy”? Mmmm… I think I’m going to go with Ferocious, as it might help my slug-dragon..thing.
Now, I need to pick where I was born. I can pick that I was born… on the Streets, by common folk(my parents?), or among the nobility(my non-existent rich parents).
Obviously, ‘by common folk’ would be me…. except it says “I work”, which.. ahaha.. no. .. Ehh. I’ll go with it. It says I have a sister and a brother too, which clearly I do not.

… Ohh boy. The next one is just too good. Now it asks what my greatest regret was. None of these are me. I don’t see “I joined WoW”, “I dropped out of school”, or “I didn’t move out of my parents house”…which would be all three for me. :/
My choices are, that I never met my real parents, I never recovered my sister’s body, or… oh wow. I turned down joining the circus?! What?! Is this game humoring me? I would… I would NEVER even consider joining, the circus! Let alone “turned down the opportunity of joining the circus”!
I… oh wow. I think I’m going to go with “Never met my real parents”.

And the last one before I wrap this up and name my char, what God I was blessed with at a young age. In Guild Wars 2, there used to be five gods for the Humans, but they abandoned them for some reason.
Looking over them, I’m going to pick ‘Dwayna’, as she reminds me somewhat of Alexstrasza in WoW. God of healing, air, and life. And Alexstrasza is the Aspect of Life (the one that oversees your birth).

And this is what I picked for my first char in Guild Wars 2. Just need to sign my name, and… “Benie is in use” DAMNIT!! D:< And I can't use numbers for some reason. I guess I'll have to do what I did for my alts, years ago in WoW.
And so, I named myself 'Beniee', and got to see a short video of 'my' life, and how I went to a town called 'Shaemoor' to defend it from Centaurs.

And now I'm ingame! Already, I notice I can't zoom in and out like I could WoW, and it's giving me a movement tutorial. Thankfully I can set my settings.
Ok, I can zoom in and out, but it's not through the mouse. It's my Page Up/Down buttons.
Got to play around with the combat system, and also notice that killed mobs don't drop loot. Odd. Might want to talk to mfish about this.
Just completed the tutorial missions and saved the place. Now I can free roam. There's one interesting quest that also kind of makes me facepalm. Getting XP for… entertaining cows. I did this, and I'm still going "wtf.."

.
Right, so this is what I've learned so far;
-There is no server time day/night cycle. However, it does use realtime shadows.
-At Level 5 and beyond, enemies get aggro. Actually like this, as it helps players new to MMOs get a handle on things.
-You can have a first and a last name.
-The NPC talk system is sort of like Skyrim. You can be given several conversation options.
-Special events happen out of the blue, and can affect how things work depending on your actions.
-Questing isn't like WoW at all. There's no "kill x mobs". Infact… it's like doing an Apexis daily. There's a bar you fill up to complete the quest. Not sure how this isn't grindy?
-Questing is also sort of like the bonus objectives in WoD, where you just go there and you're given a list of things to do. Also, a "quest" is a heart. After completing all of them, you got to seek out a scout to reveal more. Are you sure this isn't grindy?
-Level 5, is when you have control of your pet. Similar to WoW (back with the changes in Cata).
-The teleporting system is very simple, and I like it. You can click on any diamond icon, and accept the copper payment. You don't even have to be near a teleport area.
-Class trainers are in the game, but claim I "need a little more experience" before they can help me.
-There's a type of Auction House, called the 'Black Lion Trading Post'. It seems to just link up to an online store, where you can purchase stuff for real money. Go figure.
-You seem to be able to dye your weapons and gear. Interesting.
-In capital cities (like the Human city of Divinity's Reach that I'm in), there's some areas of the city that are known as instances. These are player instances (basically what mfish told me).
-When shutting the game off or logging, the game immediately quits without question. Love that.

Here's what I don't know (yet);
-How to craft, and where you go to craft.
-If you can name your pet.
-If your pet actually grows up and gets larger.
-How to tame new pets.
-Death punishment (losing your stuff/XP loss/corpse walk)?
-AFK system? I'm not exactly seeing one yet.
-Trying to figure out the chat system. Why am I locked to PMing a person, and why NPC chat isn't showing up anymore.
-Where mfish is on the server. He can teach me these things.

Alt leveling complete, final WoW thoughts before the transition

I just got Beefhunter to 100 about 15 minutes ago (the time that I typed this). I got my Warlock to 100 a few days before that.
For my final thoughts, it seems Blizzard has changed some things behind the scenes to both make my leveling, easier.. and also more annoying. And it also seems, having an ilvl 600/166k health isn’t “my set values” anymore when hitting 100.

First, what made leveling a bit easier. It seems they’ve increased the drop rate of those fucking annoying oily oozes in southern Spires of Arak. Before, they would drop after 3rd of 4th kill. Now, they drop on every kill. It makes doing that area.. less hated (in my opinion). I thank Blizzard for doing that.

And what makes it annoying, I choose the Siege Engine for my Warlock in Nagrand. I was able to do the same things I did back in the WoD Beta, and then some (which is go in interiors).
On the Horde side… either they did a ‘sudden fix’, or this doesn’t work on the Horde side. Chose the War Machine(when before during the WoD Beta, I chose the Riding Wolf for Beefhunter). I was doing the series of quests in Sabron crag area. I went in an area using the War Machine, and then suddenly I get thrown out of it for no reason, yet I get the 10 minute cooldown as if the machine was destroyed.
What the fuck…

And it happened again and again. Again, forced to wait 10 minutes due to entering an interior. All it did was just make me not want to play WoW even more.
It’s like the dismount thing of when you enter an interior, except with at least dismounting, you don’t have to wait 10 minutes to remount.

.
Now to the thing about health values and gear at Level 100, My Warlock hit over 200k health at 100, yet has a 512 ilvl. My Tauren Hunter, has hit 185k health, yet has a 563 ilvl.
This is “bad”(that is if I actually cared), as you need a high ilvl to do dungeons and raids. Why did they make these changes? To extend the grinding even further? I think this proves either our requests are getting ignored, or overdone.

.
Well… whatever. I’m done with that mess. Because in Guild Wars 2, they DO care about their community, and they DO care about making their game fun! This is the beauty of F2P games that actually do it right, by not throwing micro-transations or annoying ads in your face.
I don’t want to grind. They don’t want you to grind. They listen. They want to be separate from other MMOs.

So yeah. This is my “Goodbye WoW” post. I’m not even going to bother with Patch 6.1. Screw it. Just the thought of having a Selfie Camera system in an MMORPG, sends me into a rage.
Next post will be what I’ve learned from Guild Wars 2, the sensible, grind-free MMO. With no time-traveling BS, and no useless Garrison/followers. Stay tuned.

March 7th MRT GSM results (the bad parts)

I knew today’s GSM was going to be boring, and currently I was right. I’m sitting in probably the most annoying GSM ever, that is still going on as I type this. We’ve been spending a half an hour talking about the new size changes for airports, of them have to be 50% of their respected city (no more big ass airports). I don’t fucking care about this! Get to the Q&A!
Several times where it seems they’re about to go there, someone else has the nerve to ask another boring airport question!

*sigh* Finally it’s over, and went to the Q&A. So, the road proposal thing has been pretty much thrown out the door. Instead of bidding on a road, you can propose a road you wish to build. So… no more road building for me.
I really don’t know why I’m so fucking ironic in my words. Before, how I wished I could just plan and build instead of feeling like a “road builder for hire”. Now, I’m against this.
I guess because, I got used to the old proposal. Frumple claimed that it was confusing, and how there were things left out (like when Frozen wanted me to have one side have diamond under it). However, Mods can still propose roads for us to build. But the fact it possibly won’t be a monthly thing anymore (may happen on certain months), it–……*sighs* roads are the only reason I come to these GSMs anymore. Nothing more. I don’t care about anything else. And I definitely don’t care about airport changes (because I can’t build one).

It saddens me, that I’m the only fucking one on that server that cares so much about roads. Yeah. I’m the only one. Everyone else, is either into airports, transit, towns, or all three at the same time. Never roads. They don’t see them as a big deal. Maybe because of how easy they are to build, compared to an airport.
Roads also aren’t community builds. Airports are. Towns are.
That’s why I’m the only one that cares.

Other road news, the Admins have decided a system for road naming. And apparently US’ Interstate System is too complicated, and they’re going to go with Europe’s. *double facepalm, and if I could use my feet I’ll feetpalm with them as well*
Why Europe’s? WHY?! You talk complicated, there you go! But noooo… when it seems 3/4 of the server population is on the other side of the planet.
He did draw this, which goes over the various quadrants of the map. My island is in Region 2.

My island alone, I haven’t worked on it since I got that tag. I don’t know what else to do with it, that would also be an easy build and fit with the theme.

Guild Wars 2 75% off. I now have it (I think)

Due to PAX East now in full swing this weekend up in snow-buried Boston, they’ve announced the game is 75% off (for only 48 hours)! But only through their online store. Aka, don’t expect to get it through Amazon. Freaked out when I saw the news and instantly went to go buy it. I mean, fuck waiting ’till the 17th, when it’s on sale RIGHT NOW! 😀
So, I got the Digital Deluxe edition for $15, which would normally go for $60. That’s not bad at all. It comes with a plethora of free stuff.
It was a really good thing when the Twitter account for Guild Wars 2, popped up in my list of people to follow. I would had never known of this sale.

Getting it got a bit hairy. The purchase page was a bit confusing. It wanted you to enter your Credit Card info, yet also had a section for PayPal. Anyway, I accidentally entered the wrong email. I made it as b.dobson1@twc.com, when there is no actual ‘1’ in the email. Yet I still paid for it.
I panicked when I didn’t receive an email from them giving me a link to begin downloading. Yes, it’s a digital download.

To make a long story short, I found out all I needed to do was register an account with them, and then saw a download link to their installer. Currently downloading it. So, all is good. I think anyway. And it also proved, there’s no subscription fees. Very happy with that.
Now when it gets done downloading, I am still not going to play it until… for some time. I only bought it now because of the sale, but I still want a worthy transition.

Basically, in WoW, I just got my Worgen Warlock to 100 last night. I need to do the same for my Tauren Hunter. Then I’ll do what I can tolerate in 6.1. After that, I will transition to Guild Wars 2.
