LEGO Worlds (Story Mode) ‘completed’, thoughts

Now I wouldn’t fully say “completed”, but I feel like I reached the stage that I’m now bored with it. I’ve gotten the 100 bricks and became a Master Builder. Decided to follow a walkthrough, and surprisingly I did better than the guy did– uncovering over seven towns (he’s only seen two). Though I have yet to see a Wild West town. He really lucked out there.
I’ve also done a few of the dungeons.. yet damn from certain angles the FPS drops to near 10(to where it was near unplayable). Better optimization is needed for the PS4 version.
But what really made me tear away from it, is him going from 40 gold bricks in the previous episode, to 69 gold bricks the next (with absolutely no explanation of how he got 29 bricks between episodes). Finally it hit me, that it really doesn’t matter what biome one gets, as long as gold bricks are collected. People in the comments section also helped me personally figure out what all the beam colors mean. When I finally figured out that green means a quest, I started racking up the Studs (and the bricks) until I had more than he did.
Finally got my 100th and became a Master Builder, with the ability to create my own worlds (using the biomes I found). I can also customize it further, only allowing certain NPCs, mobs, and vehicles to spawn (though this doesn’t affect quest givers..learned that the hard way).

I also went through the troublesome questline to finally start seeing dragons walking around on their hind legs and doing their dragon things (wrecking every mob and person they come across(including me)).
They’re also the only animal-based mob that uses ranged attacks as their primary means of attack (the Dragon Wizard(required to unlock the dragons) does as well), yet they’re not hesitant to tailwhip you if you get too close. And DAMN do they hit hard to the point it’s hilariously OP! They take away 5 hearts every attack, and can only be defeated with Crystal weapons (and can be befriended/purchased with either Steak or a Drumstick).
There are seven colored dragons (they’re all a recolor of the original) to unlock, two of them using the base materials of life (Fire(Red) and Water(Blue)) while the others (Snow(White(I assume is the original base color)), Night(Black & Red), Forest(Green), Candy(Purple), and Gold) are related to their respected biomes. The Golden Dragon (in the past) was able to be acquired without starting the questline(has been since patched). It’s also the most expensive thing that can be purchased (a million Studs), while the others cost half a million Studs to purchase.

Getting them unlocked as I mentioned, is a quite frustrating questline. The main frustration is right at the beginning, and this frustration is directed at old 4-5 month (some even a year old) guides. You must find the ‘Spooky Girl’ on a certain biome, using a specific coordinate (163-193-103 D). Make sure the ‘D’ is there.
After doing her quest of giving her some mushrooms and a pot to do her research in, she gives you a red crystal.
So surely you feel this is getting somewhere, right? Well it gets better. Then you need to go to another biome and find a Jewel Thief who’s carrying a Dino Bone and wants the red crystal for it. Holy fuck, a dino bone? How does this have to do with dragons? Well..
Then in another biome, is a dino researcher who will trade the bone…for a water pistol. Okay, then. Water Gun. Dino Bone. Red crystal. Don’t see how this has anything to do with dragons. Well this is when things get interesting.

Next, is a fisherman who has found, a fire dragon egg and wants the water pistol for it. OHH DUDE!!! HERE WE GO!! Give this to the Dragon Wizard and have it hatch!
And then finally, is the Dragon Wizard. He must be defeated for him to accept the egg, and then….it stops. WTF?! All of that, and no dragons?!
The surprise is coming, and it pays off. The player must make a Huge world of the same biome, and find the Dragon Wizard as a quest giver. This time he knows the player’s intentions and wants to help the player summon the dragons(starting with the Fire Dragon), but needs lots of help (and items) to do it. Some of these items will require to revisit other worlds (as the narrator has stated to the player) if they don’t have these items.
The final item was a real Pita for me. The wizard felt the dragon wanted a large cupcake for it to show up, which requires to look in treasure chests…and the RNG is hellish. 9 of the chests I got all gave me an Electric Torch, another two gave me Dynamite. Finally I had it and was able to place the cupcake down. Once completed, he gave me a Dark Dragon Egg and the quest was completed.

Part of this quest, had dance floors (where I started dancing). About a few minutes later, I saw it. The Fire Dragon showing up in the distance behind me! Immediately I ran over and hopped on for the ride of my life. It can lob fireballs, like a fire-based dragon should. Except when the fireball lands, it creates lava around the edges, dealing extra damage. If the blast doesn’t kill anyone within the radius, the lava will. So badass.
The dragons also have a really cute, adorable idle animation that they’ll flop on their ass and relax, see their tail and just like a dog, try to catch it. I couldn’t imagine the motion sickness of that in first person (even though the camera is locked and doesn’t follow the mount’s movement, probably to assist with just that(preventing motion sickness)).
While tamed, they’ll also curl up into a ball and sleep.

Though, there is one thing I don’t like about this, and I wish this would be fixed (and it really irks me seeing this done in video thumbnails), that when I spawn a dragon, it will immediately take off and leave me before I have a chance to react(just like the Eagle). The fact the same button to mount is bound to the ‘quick tool’ button (which also activates the tool wheel when held down), I have no chance to hop on before it’s gone.
Plus I discovered, they’re quite feral and really hate eachother (even the same color). Creating a world where only dragons roam around, and it’s all-out chaos! My controller is wildly vibrating of every fireball being lobbed, and watching like 5 dragons attempting to kill eachother. It’s crazy!
So how in the hell do I see tamed, calm dragons together in these thumbnails? I see no players mounting them.

.
So that’s all about dragons in this game. I personally wish they gave them scales, but since it’s LEGO, it’s to be expected.
Moving on, there’s an issue I’ve been running into with dungeons (to the point I downright just avoid them). It isn’t the heavy studdering, but having the only treasure chest that’s supposed to always be giving a Gold Key, is giving random items instead. I pray someone has already reported this issue to them and they’re working on a fix. But this pretty much breaks dungeons, preventing the final treasure chest that requires said Gold Key to unlock and open.
The night trader sells the gold keys thankfully, but like everything else she sells, it’s RNG-based.

And that’s about it with this post. I’m still trying to get the Reviews blog up and running (as I have two more reviews to do this month, one of them will be a mini-review). Hopefully before my birthday, will I have it. However, I doubt it. I feel these issues are more serious than I’m thinking (then again could be the result of WordPress’ latest update).
It’s not really the end of the world if I can’t fully customize the blog, though.
