Trying to play LEGO Worlds on PC (properly) is a headache

Fantastic way to ‘celebrate’ the first few hours of my birthday, huh?
Why, oh why, did they go with a hardcoded keybind setup? Even in 2015, rebinding keys in a video game was a thing. What the hell were they smoking when they came up with this boneheaded move?
Now I wouldn’t really be complaining if I was part of the ‘WASD master race’. Yet, I’ve always found moving my character around with the arrow keys, much better on my hands. Though I wonder if it’s part of the curse of being a Leftie. Sadly, I am.
“Hello, my name is Benie. And I’m left-handed.”
Crowd: “Hi, Benie!”
So yeah, you folks heard it here. Not ashamed of it too.

Nearly all day yesterday, I’ve either been waiting for someone in the AutoHotkey forum to kindly give me a script to circumvent this bullshit, or try to figure out how to hook up my PS4 controller to my computer. Decided to go with the latter, and I’m kind of regretting it.

The program I used in the past (‘InputMapper'(or ‘IM’ for short)) is still available. Latest version is 1.6.10. Installed it and got prompted to install the files to enumerate my controller to be an XBox controller.

Hooked up the USB cable and connected my controller, and started having issues with read errors (and this strange error about being unable to go into Exclusive Mode due to ‘Win 10 AU’). Since I have Windows 7, I don’t see how that relates to me. Yet this was also disconnecting and reconnecting the controller, making it quite pointless to use.
Now what’s odd is some times I manage to get it working with no errors whatsoever, and manage to play the game with the controller. It’s quite awesome, and since I memorized the controls, I know how to use it. Yet this didn’t stop the issues from resurfacing.
It got to the point where I felt I must’ve downloaded a Windows 10 only version (even though it never showed what Windows versions are supportive).

Tried downgrading to an earlier version, and that seemed to have worked…only to have another issue pop up. This was in the game. Now any button I press, seems to activate co-op mode causing a clone of myself to popup in split-screen (claiming I have a second controller). This clone also mimics what I do. No matter what I try doing, the problem persists.
I was forced to create an account with the IM forum. After waiting several hours for a response, I get a quite fragmented one that clearly didn’t read the entire post. After having several back and forth conversations with this person, they now feel blaming the USB cable instead of IM is the answer.

Turns out all of that time, I accidentally confused the person with them thinking there was an issue on my end(with the USB cable). I responded with an apology, and how I should had been a lot clearer with my words. That’s what frustration does, though.
Hopefully this will be resolved soon. Personally I feel that if I keep trying the earlier versions, until I find one that doesn’t give the Windows 10 thing (and doesn’t create a clone ingame). The best of both problems fixed.

.
EDIT: Perfect timing. On my birthday of all days, and I have these issues. Even with the latest version, I’m still getting a clone of myself. And I believe I know why.
By having it in ‘Shared Mode’, the game sees the controller as ‘Player 2’ and creates the clone of me. It even states Exclusive Mode stops ‘double input’.
But since I’m unable to use Exclusive Mode… wow. I just can’t have nice things.

EDIT2: I think I got it!! The answer was right there infront of me, but I was too blind to see it! It clearly states Exclusive Mode cannot work while Steam is running. So I tried shutting Steam down, running IM, and then running Steam…and I got no errors!
Steam is trying to take control, and this is interfering with Exclusive Mode. Making IM ‘higher priority’ than Steam, seems (so far) to make the two work in harmony. I’ve been playing for at least an hour, and had NONE of the issues I had before! I’m continuing to test, and really liking the results.
Also to note.. so far, I haven’t had the lag issues I’ve seen on the PS4 version. Levels load a lot faster.. the only thing I don’t like is the horizontal black bars that pop up during loading screens (they block the loading percentage).
