Mass Effect: Andromeda (Gameplay video breakdown)

I just got done watching the latest video released from the official Mass Effect channel on Youtube. This one focused on combat (weapons/talent trees/abilities). And holy hell, did they look good.
You can watch the full gameplay video right here.

My favorite things (so far) are the Jumpjet (looks pretty solid for how fast-paced the combat is in the series, and a really fun toy to play with to my advantage) and the new Bionic ability to use an enemy as a human shield..or as a projectile. Fucking. gold.

However, there are a few things that I didn’t like about it. One is this ‘dynamic cover system’. With the guy explaining how the player can use “almost anything” as cover, of the way the tester was moving the player character, it looked like ‘press button, receive random hiding spot closest to the player character’. Then again, it’s still too early to tell if this got flushed out before release.
The second more pressing thing, is allowing all classes have all skills. As much as I want to say “OMG BEST GAME EVAR!!!”…it feels wrong. What’s the point of a class if there’s no restrictions to make each class feel unique? I hate to say this..and it’s even surprising me to say it, but at this time it feels it’s “tailored to casuals”. If I can’t even get over that feeling that this feels unbalanced, something is seriously wrong here with the design of this game mechanic.
“YOU get the same skills! And YOU get the same skills! EVERYBODY gets the same skills!! :D”

Last, the weapons don’t feel all that interesting. It feels copy-paste from the previous series. Sure, there are new experimental weapons made by humans in the Andromeda Galaxy’s ‘Helious Cluster’ (that are only available from the Tech skill tree), but they feel.. underpowered to me. Not to mention, enemy movement feels uninteresting. Running infront of the player isn’t the way to flank, the last time I looked. 🙂

Again.. well, I’m at least hoping all of this is still subject to change (at least balance the classes, please). There’s going to be a Part 2 of this gameplay series of videos (dunno when), getting more in-depth with the new squad system and other stuff.
Let me know what your comments are about this video, or about my words by shooting me some emails. 🙂

The Wurm Premium Problem (Feat. Paypal)

B2 actually helped me focus on this, telling me that everyone makes mistakes (even decapitated floating dragon heads). Time to put this thing in the past, and once again just not bother to even be nice anymore (as I can’t seem to control my temper of people who go AFK). Like all the times angry went AFK on me (even times deliberately.
This is where my impatience came from, guys. #BlameAngryForEverything
(Not really, though. You guys(and gals) that have been with me for years should know this)

So this whole prem time thing. Fucking hell was Wurm bugging me so much about renewing my prem time! Almost every hour with a flashing “Your premium time ends today” in my face when trying to get pictures.
Is there a way to turn this fucking thing OFF (to stop nagging me like it’s my girlfriend telling me to pay the power bill)?!
(Just FYI, I don’t actually have a girlfriend. It was an expression. No woman would ever want me anyway)#ForeverAlone

Moving on… prem time. As I mentioned at the start of Day 8, Paypal and Wurm aren’t playing nice for some reason. It’s still unknown when the issue will be fixed. Plus, they took down the options to use Paypal on the Wurm Shop.
I feel this is really bad news for me, as I’m so used to giving them the simple 1 month + 5s option. These new options, the minimum Prem time is two months for the same amount of cash as what I just said. That feels like highway robbery. I also feel like they’re deliberately doing this to annoy me. 😛
What good is Prem time without silver?! I NEED silver to be able to fund my deed!
B2 and I discussed over it, and about a guy named ‘Greyfox’ who told me (while I was still in Exo) it’s actually more cost-efficient in the long run by buying in bulk. Yet I just wasn’t seeing it.

As I was heading to Wolf Island, I tried to wrap my head around this as Greyfox told me it’s best to pay this $70 USD($68.97 USD right now) for 50s, as I would be able to get 5 months of Prem time(10s gives a month). That’s good and all, but how in the FUCK am I going to be able to afford my deed when I put all of it on the 5 months?!
Plus of how little I play, is this really worth the asking price? With 1s being 1 Euro, was it really worth it?
And the answer… is yes. B2 convinced me that a year of my current deed cost would only be 19s and 2c(that’s 20s, for a year of keeping the deed alive). That’s really not bad. But with the thought that I just might move one of these days to another server (still got three more to explore and evaluate), to only put in two months (which would cover all the way up to Wurm Spring of the next Wurm year(35 days from now, which is just over a month IRL). This is all based on Wurm Clock, by the way.

I was convinced, I would still have a TON of silver (even after I stop Wurm from nagging at me about getting my Prem renewed). Financially, I saw I could afford it no problem. This came at a pretty good time to do it.
Lastly, Grey was actually right. After calculating (and estimating) the price of what I typically get of the 1 month Prem and 5s for an entire year($17.50 USD a month)…I’ve been handing them $210.00 USD. WTF?!?! That’s an eye-opener if I’ve ever did see one! So if I went with this new plan, it would only cost $180 USD a year, $40 USD cheaper(per year) than what I’ve been doing! Now that, is a savings.
But the very thought of blindingly handing them $70 made me sick to my stomach, especially from all I went through. But..fuck it. Hit the Pay Now button.
Now in my bank is a whopping 51s. That is the most silver I’ve ever had in my life!

Found the section of the token to get Prem time, and submitted it.
[02:32:35] Your request for playing time is being processed. It may take up to half an hour until the system is fully updated.
[02:32:35] You now have premier playing time until 20 Mar 2017 07:54:28 GMT.
Now that’s what I call fast service! Not even a millisecond and I’ve renewed my Prem! But as you see, I got a month’s worth of Prem that’ll last all the way to near Wurm Spring (which I’ll renew again with another 10s) NO MORE NAGGING! 😀
40s left in the bank after throwing another 1s, 5c and 60i in, to keep Oceanside Retreat alive for the next two months.
I’m now currently waiting for someone named ‘Coldpain’ (referred to by ‘Pagrini’) to make an 80QL huge axe with all the bells and whistles(aka enchantments). I imagine it’s going to cost upwards of 5s+ (though this person offers cheap LT weapons). Though I also believe this person will only give me a huge axe with LT and nothing else, making me have to ask others for the remaining enchantments I want on it. But, we shall see.

Until this axe is made with everything I want on it, and a do a test drive outside of my deed (so my character will get used to not using a longsword/shield anymore), the exploration thing is on hold.
And speaking of things outside of my deed, were two hellhounds on the side ramp and a wolf on the grass wall on the East side of my deed. Back in my casual clothes, I got the guards to do their job.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus(FINAL) (Day 9)

Day 9, that once again I’m going to try to mark as my final day here. With only 19 days until Wurm Fall, it’s about time I get moving to the next server!
Started a bit later than usual (not to mention Solrise is now 32 minutes later than it was on Day 1). I wanted to take care of something in Minecraft first. Believe I got that thing going the way I like it, but I still need to play around with it to get a good balance between production and insertion.

So, back where I started. It seems my ‘roar’ I did last night actually did the reverse and attracted mobs instead making them shit themselves. 😛 Started with a bear that was kind of near to my campsite. Luckily it didn’t aggro when I logged in. Killed it, then started going back down the mountain. Was a bridge I saw off the side of the mountain I wanted to check out, so I went back up to it. Pretty long bridge. At the bottom, a troll shows up…followed by another. Ok, this is too much. Spun around and went back up the bridge, with the trolls starting to gain on me. They nearly got within range to get a whack on me, but I finally made it off the bridge and down the other side, losing them.
I needed to separate the two. It did work in my favor, but for some reason I couldn’t aim high. I kept hitting the 8 key on my numpad(which is the default keybinding), even hitting the button on the combat popup. Was forced to run away as my health started to go down. Got back to the bridge and ran down, losing them again. I could almost hear them laughing their heads off at me. Pride shattered. :/

Started heading the way to Wolf Island, all the way on the other side of the server. Got a bit lost, and a spider helped itself as I was checking the map. Forced to kill the interrupting asshole, and found my way again. This route took me back to Sandhill..but also -though- the deed. Followed it without question and took another road going North. This thing would take me to Esert, but I stopped by Thallspring again to get some more pictures. Deed’s a lot bigger than I thought it was.

Went around the north side of Esert. Had to cut through Standford and Son’s, and then I stopped and followed a sign leading to ‘Heros Of Leva’dara’. I remember seeing a guard tower named this deed’s name on a mountain I couldn’t get all the way to the top, and wanted to see if there was another way up. The roads were looking quite promising here as there might just be one, but there wasn’t.
Continued trying to find a way up, then I started to hear the sound of digging very close to me. Infact it was so close as it was right under me of a guy (named “Wendigo”) leveling down the roads here. Behind him was a supreme wagon (named “Shanenigans on Wheels”) being pulled by two bulls and two horses.
Asked if it’s possible to scale the mountain behind me. He told me he has a deed to the west, and a road that leads up near the peak (that I would need to climb in order to reach).
He showed me the road, and I thanked him. Didn’t encounter much resistance (except for a wolf, a few scorps, and a few rats).

Breathtaking view here. Though I had an issue on my hands with Prem. I’ll spare you that bag of drama for another blog post. Up here is a deed named “Drunken Monk”. It’s a pretty small deed. I also saw a really flat area (that I assume to be the actual deed that was here). This is the area I saw when I was down at a lower level (thinking this is the highest I’m going to go). There’s two guard towers that are named after the past-deed.
Sol starts to go down. I’m unsure if I should camp here or try to get closer to Wolf Island.
Did see the actual peak of the mountain. Was just within range, but I could see why the guy said I would need to climb. Decided against it, thinking there would be a troll or something as I’m trying to get there.
And yes I did setup camp. I found another flat area. But when I was getting ready to log off, a spider attacks. Luckily I was near a guard tower and they assisted in exterminating the big bug.

Sol’s taking a lot longer to rise than before. Walking around the campsite at night, rambling on about having no Paypal option. Had a wolf and a few rats trying to catch me off-guard, but they now have a 3rd (bloody) eye in their heads.
Sol eventually rose at 8:50pm EST. Somewhere (yet in my Local), a spirit guard was going after an old troll. That was my signal I needed to get off this mountain, feeling a mob wave was about to pounce on me.
Went back down the road and got back to ground level. The guy I spoke to was gone, but they left their wagon here. There was also an empty coffin. Another guy popped up in my local (named “Tranqilizer”). No response from a friendly hello.
Now back on the coastal road, going past The Red Dragon Inn, I started to hear the sound of hatchets going on trees. Three people in my Local. Saw a guy up on a hill with a horse, cutting down trees. Said hey and if they’re going to found a new deed. No response. Started to get annoyed with what I felt were people ignoring me. Saw this person stop working, and looking like they were looking at me, then leaves.
I said “Ok, don’t talk to me, then. Have a good day.” Was I rude for saying that? Personally, I don’t think so. But what I didn’t know is it would actually bite me in the tail later on….twice (with the second bite quite painful).

Finally I reached Wolf Island. More abandoned deeds here. Though there was actually one deed still alive (with two people in Local). Soon I reached a road on the map that showed it would go down close to Wolf Mountain. Decided to follow the northern road, but not without several trolls blocking the way. Managed to kill one of them, but wow did it give me such a thrashing.
This northern road ended with more abandoned deeds, and a horse pens (with one having a gravestone to a past horse). Was seeing more and more of this really nice deed. Suddenly I get a PM from one of the two people in my Local that were in the area of the deforesting. The person waved at me…then quoted the thing I said about “don’t talk to me” saying they were AFK. All I said was “Oh…erm.” “I’m sorry” never came to mind, for some odd reason. This was the first “bite”.

I’m now exploring the abandoned deed’s shipyard (and going through their stuff). They had some tables here that I could pickup, but with how heavy they were I dropped them and marked this other area on the world map. With that done, it was time to go south to Wolf Mountain. Yet the road didn’t exist…
And then the second, MUCH…much more painful bite came, in the form of Jakerivers, stating…to not be rude to people in local. The very guy who helped me on Day 3, now sees me as nothing more than a little kid. I did my best to defend myself, but all it did was get worse, and worse…and worse.
“Jakerivers cuts your pride deadly hard in the head and damage it.”
“Your pride is dead. R.I.P.”

…It was time to go home. Yes..home. Far, far away from this server that I’m obviously not wanted. Hell, will the other servers ‘kick me out’ JUST FOR TRYING TO HAVE A FRIENDLY CONVERSATION?!?! HUH?!?!?!
Hew plan. Say NOTHING to anyone that pops up in my Local. Don’t say hi, don’t say hello! NOTHING!! One thing I hate more than mobs, are people who deliberately ignore me. “Maybe they’re AFK” for some reason never comes up(most of the time), because maybe I feel everyone and everyTHING is against me in this fucking game (as I have since Day 1 of joining Wurm in 2008)!! Sometimes I feel they go AFK just because I’m not a local to the server (and this is the way they treat outsiders).
Yes, that’s childish thinking. But again, my brain is a 10 year old. Might as well use it as an excuse. :/

Eversince I got to this server, I’ve had a bad taste in my mouth of its community. No, I don’t mean to take it out on the locals. I’m not THAT immature. All I want is to be noticed. You all can’t spend even a second out of your grindy lives JUST TO SAY HI?!
I just…wanna go home, set up a target dummy, and watch the damn thing get 100 damage from all the frustration (and depression) inside of me.
Sure, some of them were shockingly nice (like the one that allowed me to get my horse back), and the one that tought me how to kill trolls.

So, I’m back home. Got my 2.5s of horseshoes off the old horse and waved it goodbye as I set sail back to Indy. I don’t know if I’m going to continue this. At least, I did say Day 9 it’s possible I would leave the server. And it looks like, I was right.
It just stings I got told off like that, but I guess I deserved it.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 8)

Day 8. Finally woke up at a decent time in order to be able to finally manage to get back home and refill my deed’s coffer. On top of that, Shydow has responded to my PM and is asking for B2 to give them their stuff back. Both have been done and I’m back in Exo. While I was home, I also took care of an issue with my farm as grass is starting to take over. Packed the dirt and the grass, and now it won’t be a problem. I also put the 20c I got from killing and butchering/burying mobs in my bank (and put the four recipes I got from trolls into the coffin). Then I replenished my cotton supply, just incase.
And a final thing. I won’t be able to get Prem through Paypal (for the time being) as they’re having issues with processing payments. They warn anyone who uses Paypal that their Prem time and/or silver won’t be able to reach them until they fix the issue… thing is, they don’t know when it’ll be fixed.
Hopefully it’ll be soon (as in before I run out of money to fund my deed’s upkeep). It’s the only way I can get the “1 month Premium time and 5 Silver coins (ingame)” option.

.
So, Day 8. Time to go..anywhere; go places I didn’t before it’s time to leave for good. Though IMO it feels this server is lacking in a lot of real land (and long straight routes).
Watched Sol (and Jackal 25% eclipsing Sol) rise in the NW. Started by sailing back to Serenity, parked and got on the horse. I wanted to check out a road I saw heading up to the mountain here (on the map). Yet there was no road, only mobs (such as a spider that I killed in four hits of aiming for the head).
Went back though ‘Studderville’ again, but this time..it wasn’t as studdering as before. And the reason, was because my Local was shockingly empty. Odd. Maybe everyone’s at school/work. Went through the desert, and went West to check out the coast there. Not much was here except for a few shacks, and a few deeds. There was also this marble multi-arch bridge going past a deed called ‘Desert Desires’.. oh my. 😉
This deed looks like it’s mainly to sell livestock (horses/bulls/cows/bison/etc..).
There were several banners telling guests where to park (I assume their large carts and boats).

At the end of this limited coastal road, where two roads with high walls between the two. Both of them lead back to the desert. I then headed a bit East, killing crocks on the way (go me!) and getting to a unique deed I saw on Day 2: ‘The Nomads’. What was cool was the Pyramid in the middle of a river. The deed is completely blocked off to visitors, sadly. But I was able to scale the Pyramid. Not a bad view from up here.
Then it was time to check out these ‘mini-islands’ to the West of it. While there, I tried to engage a ven anaconda. A spider and a crock wanted to join in, and did my best to lure the two away (greater awareness).
The fight took three minutes. 10 times I attempted to Focus past Level 3 of focusing, and 10 times “You fail to reach a higher degree of focus”. Damn annoying. On the 10th attempt, the snake was dead before I realized I finished it off. Ok, so anacondas are still a pain in the ass. But I’m sure when I get that huge axe(after probably spending a small fortune on it + enchantments), it won’t be as much of a problem.
Yet when I tried to kill a mature crocodile, I was able to get to Level 4 of Focus (enough to finish it off).
On one of these three mini islands, was a deedless area hidden in a small opening of the hill here. There was a spirit cottage named “I raided ur deed”. The containers had some stuff in them, but nothing really valuable. Was also a Aged crab just chilling here and taking a nap on one of the beds. Well, now it can go to sleep…permanently. 🙂
Kchat was getting a bit more active as I continued on, with someone announcing a slaying soon of a Green Dragon Hatchling. ‘Kawopij’, seemed to be like the Lorax. But instead of speaking for the trees…they were speaking for the dragons. Of course I had to chirp in about this, stating how I had a red hatchling near my deed and stuff. Yet the person seemed to refuse to understand the whole point of “mercy killing”; saying to let them “run free with its friends”, and to let them feast on newbies for it is “natural”. Continued discussing as I entered another deed (and as Sol is going down).
Yet there’s something I didn’t see before when I was going over the chat logs when typing all of this, of seeing “cept dragons dont give eggs anymore.”..Wait WHAT?! Since when!? If that’s the case, then…mmm, no. I’m not doing that again. Moved on. Over. Done with it. Left the deed and continued following the coast on the right. Terrain got a bit messy, but somehow I was able to work around.
Got back close to another spot I had setup camp before. An Aged troll showed itself. With no one else, I wanted to prove to myself that I can indeed kill trolls. The battle went on for nearly four minutes. Started to get messy until I got to Level 4 of Focus, then was getting the upper hand…and the troll dropped to the floor infront of me, dead.
I did it. Without anyone else..without even help from tower guards, I killed a troll, all by myself.
Guys. I…AM a Dragon Warrior!! 😀 I even hopped off my horse and tried to teabag the troll in its face. Eat my big dragon NUTS, troll!! You got DRAGOWNED! ..Ok, maybe that’s a bit too far. But finally doing the impossible, and this one being an Aged troll (like the same one that killed me twice after I had lost my horse), I deserve this victory. And I did it with very minimal damage to myself.
Set up camp near the tower, resting my legs on the troll’s face (and using its body like a bearskin rug).
Revenge, is sweet. 🙂

The rest of the day, after logging back in, it was quite uninteresting. But as I continued to follow the coast, I suddenly saw several “unfinished marble brazier pillar”s (all at 1QL) in a really small inlet. Tried to take them, not knowing that player weight affects horse speed(I thought it was horse weight). When I did, I dropped them off and put a note on the world map to go pick them up later when I was ready to go home in my boat. If they don’t want them, I’ll take them. Even though I have very little marble back home, I could always ask for someone to give me access to their marble mine (either as a fee or for free) and get all the marble I need to make these work.
Seeing how I really wasn’t finding all that real interesting on this server (except for a large deforesting project someone did, yet never founded a deed), I decided to turn on the main road/canal highlight of the community map. It showed me that I was close to a rather cool double-canal (two canals with a lake in the middle, similar to what I saw in Deli). Push button, receive interesting things to visit. 🙂

Yet I decided to go another route as I saw a big mountain (with a road that looked like it was going sideways up to the peak). Gotta get up there!
Went on this slab road, yet it went back down on the other side. Was a bit disappointed, but I followed it anyway to see if it would lead me to something cool. Off a side road when it went back down close to sea level, I saw a champ black bear. Seeing alive champ mobs (that aren’t penned) is kind of rare to me (compared to Gold 2, when I remembered a champ black bear invading one of my deeds when angry was AFK).
The road was heading to Sandhill; another high-studdering deed. But I went for it. It went at an angle. Really nice.
The trees parted on the right as the road went up again. Damn nice view! As I was coming down, I passed by a 1×1 stone house named “drinky drinky”. Assumed it was some safe house with a fountain inside, but the double door was locked. There was also a bit of a concern as the horse is only going 21-22km/h instead of 25km/h. Stopped at some grass tiles and tried to feed it. It ate the grass, and I assumed the problem would go away for a bit. Yet it came back. Tried again, except this time the horse wasn’t hungry..wtf? Guess this is something I’m going to have to deal with.
Questioned if the person that imped my horseshoes, didn’t get them to 70QL. Checked, and most of them were 80+. So that’s not the issue.
Did my best to ignore it and continued on. Reached the Sandhill canal and got lots of pictures. Now on horseback, I decided to get some closer pictures of Sandhill itself. Though I didn’t know ‘closer’ meant “come on in! :D” as their main gates were accessible to guests. Niiiice!
Was able to get a much closer view of the spire here. Four levels of towers. I really wish I could just drop my horse off and get up there. Yet being in ‘paranoid mode’ I fear leaving the horse on-deed (even when I’m logged in), I would lose the ability to Lead if I stay up there too long. I could had just setup camp outside of the deed, but with me being so slow, it wasn’t really worth it.
Overall, really like the castle theme of the deed. Yet surprisingly I didn’t see any dragon hota statues. There was however a gravestone of an aged green dragon. Another thing that caught my eye, was the really nice gravesite of a beloved horse to them. It had a bunch of flower planters, with a rare statue of horse named “Memory of Kadenhard”. Wow. That’s heavy. And such a young horse, too.

Moving on, were repeated named things of someone named “Ghostface”. I assume the person’s one of the villagers (or maybe even the mayor).
Left the area, and followed a South road that would’ve taken me all the way to Boppingtonville. Not going back to that confusing place again. Though I only used the road to see the interior of a Southeast-going canal, that connects to Sandhill (that I didn’t pass through in my boat). Turned left, going East. Along this road was a ven troll. FUN FUN!! Challenged it. Woo wee did that fight get pretty ugly at one time, but I survived with 70% health left. That’s a far..far cry from 38% left from an Adol troll. Plus, a VEN troll.. the things I’ve been avoiding like grinding Blacksmithing(and shield smithing, and weapon smithing…). Anyway, troll’s dead and I’m not, and that’s what matters here! Didn’t drop a recipe, sadly.
Got to see the canal from another angle. Different than how busy it looked on the community map, though. I knew I needed to go further South and East to see more of it, so I backtracked and took the required roads.
Getting closer to Boppingtonville (and Bouncy Castle), I turned left. Ended up in a pretty large tree-less area with a single 1×1 named “Fieldworker”. Without the trees, I could clearly see my route and made my way to the coast of the canal.
Sol is setting when I arrived, and it looked like there was some light mist in the air. I thought it was just my eyes, but there was actually light fog going on. But I felt this fog actually amplified the beauty of the area (along with a rainbow). That gradual mist-like fog to make everything just.. *pop*. Really beautiful.
As I went back up the coast (following the canal’s edge), the fog started to lift as Sol continued to set.
Reached a section of a sunken road allowing access to an island. Saw a crab that I wanted to fuck up their evening. Went over and started to engage. Ven crock shows up. Alright, pal. You wanna fight me? Let’s do it when I’m not being attacked by multiple attackers, alright? Lured it back to the other side, yet the crock suddenly lost interest in me and tried to swim away. Wow, what? Dude, FIGHT ME, FFS! Do what comes natural to your programming!
Crock died, and I’m at full health. DAYUM, son! 😀
Went back over to the crab and killed it. Saw another ven crock. I’m now starting to get cocky..not always a good idea. When I engaged, another ven crock showed up. Mmk..NOPE! Plus it’s getting dark and I need to setup camp.

With no guard towers anywhere, I decided to set up camp in such an ironic spot; a clay beach. Ahh clay, I wish I could defeat you like a troll. But I don’t have the small loan of a million silver to be able to afford the transmutation thingies I need to remove you!
Saw two crocks lurking on the clay beach. Went over and killed both of them to secure the area.

Next day, Sol’s rising yet Sandhill’s lamps are still lit. Since I’m in the area, I decided to check out the deed to the north of Sandhill; ‘Thallspring’. Crossed the double bridge here (with red-colored wooden fences). This one wasn’t that open to guests, but I got to explore what I could. First off was their ship builders area. All it was, was mainly like a harbor (but it didn’t have water). Basically it. That and there was a few BSBs here with ship-building things.
Then it went to exploring the deed. It’s pretty nice, and a modest size; interconnected with 2 and 3-tile wide roads. Most of the buildings were pretty small.
It even had something I haven’t seen before on other deeds; a cemetery. Lavender-lined roads with two gravestones in each of them. A few of these were actually named.

Was then to take my leave and go see the original POI I saw.. that double-canal. Crossed the bridge back to the road I went on to get here, and went back on it. But trying to get to that double-canal was almost not possible, as someone had put a surprise farm in the way of the road. It didn’t make sense to me. The highlighted road clearly said this road -should- be going through, and it just..stops without warning.
I turned off the option in the community map, and went back in order to make sure I was even seeing what was on the map.
Went all the way back past the deforesting area, and to the south side of the Great Northern Desert. Sure enough, the roads were definitely aligning to what I was seeing. So why in the FUCK is the road stopping short back there?!
Went back, closely following the map all the way to where the road suddenly stops. Then I thought of going around said farm and find the road is actually going around it (instead of through). Had to go through a few unlocked gates to get to it. Well, someone should definitely update this section of the map. Plus, the road on the map going parallel to the canal, was missing.
Yet there was another road on the other side of the canal, doing the other thing. Went with it instead. Saw a dog and tried to Groom it. An ‘Old lurking crocodile’ showed up and stopped me from grooming. Told it “I’ll be with you in a minute to kill you.” Yet the crock didn’t wanna wait and nearly took my hand off, stopping my grooming action. How rude of you, sir! You wanna be first? Fine, so be it! Eesh!
The interrupting (nearly albino-colored) scaly ass is now dead, and I groomed the dog no problem. Damn troll crocks! lol

Followed the canal. The road I mentioned before showed up on the other side of the canal. It was there, but some of it was missing due to misuse. Made it to the bottom of the road (and the end of the first canal. The lake here was interesting; sand on the left side, and forest on the right. Took the right way. Crossing the bridge here, a bearshark swimming near the bridge aggroed and followed me across. The bear now regrets doing so as I was watching the damage I was putting on the bear’s face. It died from a severe head wound. I even jabbed it in its right eye. Rekt.
Now going parallel of the other canal, approached a rope bridge crossing the canal, named “The Hangman’s Other Hobby”. Morbid and awesome at the same time! Went across this bridge as I saw a lone horse statue standing in the middle of nowhere. I examined the strangely-placed statue (never seen one of these (being used as decoration) with no deed anywhere nearby).

There was a 3rd (and the last for the night) POI to the far East of here. Had to go back up the canal to get to it. Killed a few wolves, with one having a wound so bad you can clearly see inside of it…ffffuck I hate to be that mob. I almost feel bad about this. Yet I got to remember all the times they harassed me to no end. Also, they’re just code and have no emotions (and don’t feel pain). But GOD. Ouch.
I may be pissed off at mobs, but there’s no need to jab my sword into their brain! They’re only there because they have no choice but to kill me.
Though, the huge spiders with their big legs and many eyes? They can die in hell. 😛
Due to all of that time I need to backtrack and make 100% sure I was going the RIGHT way before, Sol is now going down and I’m nowhere near my POI.
Now on the road to it, a Young troll flags me down with its club, wanting directions to beat my ass with said club. I told the troll (with my sword) to not speak with a decapitated floating dragon head!
I now have a new sound of Wurm I absolutely love…the sound of a troll dying to my blade. 😉

Ran for the POI in post-haste. The POI was ‘Bear Claw Mountain’. At first I thought I was going to get a pretty good view when I got there.. but I got so..so much more. Due to roads left over from the previous owners of the mountain, I scaled all the way to the peak. 360* view of the server.
Oh. my. god. If this doesn’t make up for not being able to go up Gryphon Peak, nothing will. Decided to temp claim this island, as my own. I wanted to call it “Dragon Paradise” (so original, huh?). I wanted to literally roar off the peak, to make all the mobs of the server shit themselves (in one way or another). No mobs up here, so I set up camp.
What a great way to finish off the day (and completely make up for Day 5). Killed three trolls to boot. 🙂

.
As a side-note to finish off this day, Tulsi came on earlier in the day (after I had asked him in Skype, of when he was going to come in order to keep his account active). Had to get B2 on in order for him to re-learn how to grind Carp. He still wants to try to build that house. Well, he’ll still have a chance..but maybe on another server.

I am unofficially(until something else comes up) marking Day 9 to be my final day here in Exodus. And where I’m going, is Wolf Island (on the SW side of the server). It will finally end by visiting the fabled Wolf Mountain.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 7)

It’s been a week since I arrived in Exo. This is now the record for the longest time I’ve been on another server than Indy. Day 7 will happen much later in the evening today, as I greatly overslept (and needed to get done writing/publishing Day 6).
There is another concern. I need to get back home in five days or my deed will start to slowly receive decay as the 30 day warning is coming. I’m thinking when I get back to my boat, I’ll sail home, get the upkeep back up, and then sail back here. Then it won’t be a concern anymore. If B2 still had money, he could do it himself. Another fault of him not having money. But I will be renewing prem time for him and myself soon, and he’ll have some again (at least a few silver).

.
So Day 7 nearly didn’t start. Let me say this in a very brief way as to not make this post ridiculously long as the others (too late!);
Needed to go back home and fund my deed. Got back in my boat. Tried to get to the NW of Indy. Somehow got to the SE of Indy. Went back to Exo and followed the coast, trying to get to the NW. Then I would go over to Deli’s NE side and use it to get me home. Instead.. I show up on the South side of Indy.
With Sol rising, I went right back where I left off and pretended nothing had happened. Quite laughable if you think about it. See? I’m actually laughing of my stupidity!
(Fuck this game…)

.
So I now know where I am (of course I do from all of that running around I did). Time to officially get Day 7.. well, what’s left of it, going. Wurm Summer is also here, with 20 days remaining ’till Wurm Fall(that’s not a lot of time for the longest season in the game). Since I got to my boat within 5 minutes of travel, I feel this won’t take that long as other days.

Left my campsite (after picking it up of course). Went around the deed I was getting lost in. It was a small’ish deed (with a large farm). Two Knarrs parked in the dock. Had an area for merchants, but it’s only one. And what it has for sale is clearly PvP gear (swords with “Human’s Demise” on them). There was even someone’s tent being sold for 10s (named “Xcalibers Tent !”).
Got more pictures of that really cool long bridge as I continued to follow the coast. Really nice pictures (and more mob dodging).

On the Northeast coast now. Passed by another dead deed. Holy hell did they have a LOT of forges here (16 of them)! Eventually I re-reached the Exo/Xan Boat Bridge (and where I dropped the horse off on Day 1 to get what I needed in order to tame it). Was a troll here. Perfect for the guard tower that I remember setting up camp before.
Passed by the ‘Unfinished Canal’. It literally was just an unfinished canal. I hope they keep it like this. This could be a statement for the server (“12th wonder of the world, the unfinished canal!”).
On the other side of this canal, I ran into another dead deed. Though this one took time to get around it. All it was, was a 3×5 broken fenced area (which probably either was their farm and/or horse pen).
Next up was a bridge that lead me even further up the coast (towards the North side). On the other side of the bridge, was quite the WTF surprise as I saw several passive mobs gathered there (Cows/Bulls/Sheep/Rams). But like all passive mobs, most of them walked in the opposite direction when they saw me, like “You ain’t grooming US!”. Though I couldn’t Groom them anyway as this was part of a deed.
But wow. So many farm animals. I assume they were trying to escape the mayor who was probably a mad scientist or something. Also, the landscape of this deed was really amazing. Great placement with the trees, bushes and other stuff. This deed is also the home of the maintainer of the Exodus Community Map (“NESgamepro”). Very nice design.

Moving on, I was going by that castle I mentioned on Day 1. Getting a really good look at (and kind of inside) it, it’s hollow inside (and it’s also not deeded). Wow though. This castle is fitting for any dragon. Must’ve taken months if not years to build (because it was all made out of stone).
Somewhere in the Olive tree farm north of the area, was a bison named ‘aged fat Aquaphobic Swawns’. Hmmm.. did Enki spawn this? It wasn’t branded nor even cared for. Yet I have seen other strangely-named bison before. Wish I could take it cross-server back home with me.

Soon I reached the North coast. I could see the small mountain that Serenity was on the other side of it. Also, I saw a hilarious non-swimming mob (an Aged huge spider) walking under the water to try to get me. I congratulated its efforts by getting some guards to play with it. Well done, spider. NOW DIE! 🙂
Next up, I went on this one-tile wide bridge across the ‘Nest of Vipers’ deed. Interesting name.
Getting closer and closer to Serenity (through fields of grass and marsh with no mobs around), my FPS started to tank..telling me I was also getting close to the lag deed. It wasn’t that much of a concern at this time. Stopped by another deed called ‘Bloodmoon Cove’.
Then things got a bit annoying as there was another abandoned deed blocking the way. Followed the roads up and around it. Tried to go back for the coast, but there was a rather interesting thing below me; a sunken deed, completely abandoned. I’ve seen sunken farms, but this is ridiculous! Another thing became a problem.. I couldn’t explore the coast anymore, because I was close to Elysium. The number of people increased in my Local as my FPS decreased.
Found a three-tile wide road that lead me back to the North/South road that I first started off… and GOD DAMN the studdering kicked into overdrive as I got close!!
Despite the massive studdering, I tried to explore ‘Castle Elysium’. Most of it was blocked off, except for a flaw into their plans which lead me into the building’s Workshop and Storage rooms (all open for anyone to come in and look). I wonder if this was actually intended. I could had gotten deeper into the castle as a saw a spiral staircase leading down, but since I was on horseback.. yeah.

Got to access their large shipyard. Was pretty cool. There’s a marble bridge (I assume mainly for decoration purposes). The bridge had a troll standing on it(instead of under it). But since mobs don’t really know how bridges work, it wasn’t a problem for me. As I was going to the other side, I saw one of the locals placing a bunch of crops in this ridiculously-large area. Said hi and stuff.

And then, the exploring stopped (just for now). For Exo would give me the greatest gift..ever (even better than breathtaking vistas). It would give me, the knowledge to kill a troll (and learn greater awareness in combat).
Started with a person named ‘Aranarth’, asking me “you want lessons on how to kill a troll? armyskin will teach you”. Never once did I question who this ‘armyskin’ person was. I desperately wanted the knowledge on killing a troll (for it’s about time I do so without panicking)! I got three PMs, with one of them questioning if I was kidding of needing help killing trolls. I said “I wish I was. I wish I could take ’em on instead of run.”
The person I met in the farm, shows up infront of me as I’m so heavily studdering (several times my FPS dropped to 0) and can barely respond back. They get a good look at my gear and I’m told “your sword looks good”, then mentions I need something like a Huge axe as my longsword can’t kill trolls quickly (as the quicker the mob dies, the longer you stay alive).
Someone named ‘Jukimo’ offered to help me with the troll-killing lessons, by inviting me to my first ever group hunt party. ..WHA? Me, in a group hunt party?! EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!
I’m finally going places, guys! I’m being a somebody!! First, the trolls.. and THEN, the mercy killing of dragons!

After they sized me up, the person saw I needed a new helm. After saying repeated times I have a full plate set back home, I got a slightly used ‘glimmersteel basinet helm’! 83QL, and has a 77 cast of ‘Web armour’ (which has a chance of slowing down the attack speed of anyone attacking me). I’m being told what I got “a piece of history” in Local. This is a PvP helm, once worn by ‘Riddic’; “some jk scrub” after asking who they were. And then it was on to hunting via The Great Northern Desert(as Sol is setting)!
First lesson, I was told instead of fighting the center, always attack the uppercenter in PvE. I was told to go kill a scorp, and so I did. Hey, you got a bridge that needs to be jumped off as well? I’ll do it! 😛
Tried the new (to me) fight stance, and I #REKT it. It was then to take on bigger prey; a troll. There were no trolls in the desert. I also engaged a crock, and killed it nearly as fast as a Wolf! DUDE!!! That used to take me up to 5 MINUTES to do!
After following the speedy player (with a helmet acting as a beacon) riding on a hellhorse for a good half an hour, and in the middle of the night, the first troll was found… and it was a ven. FUUUUCK me. I engaged, scared as can be. I aimed high…and..IT DIED AND I DIDN’T!!! 😀 HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I DID IT!!! Yet…I didn’t actually feel I did as it never turned to face me. So the person eventually found another. This one did face me, and it too died. I stood there, stunned. Not only did I get my revenge from being killed by them in the past, but I..I killed it. And as a bonus, it dropped a rare recipe!

The person offered to re-imp my weapons and horseshoes for free. Can’t turn that down! Followed the person back. As we ran, the person’s asking what are my char’s stats. Told them, and they said to get to 31 body control and my taming up, and I would be able to ride hellhorses (for they’re twice as fast as regular horses, with the right traits).
Got back to the desert. Sol is starting to slowly rise at this time. Another troll and two crocks are here. One of the three of us gets the second crock off me while I tanked the first one. Then I try to take on the troll.. wow, GO ME for having the courage! It gave me quite a beating, but it died too. Got another rare recipe from it.
Saw a medium and tried to patch myself with one of the healing covers I bought over in Deli. The person repeatably tells me to stop, telling me to use cotton first. So I do. They see a spider that just showed up. Went over to kill it and my Medium disappeared.
Looks like it -is- okay to rely on Life Transfer to heal yourself. That’s great! So what I’ve been doing before was the right thing to do.

Went back to the lag area. I gave them my sword and shield, and they went to work imping them. Had to leave the area to tame the horse, and gave the horseshoes to them as well. It took a good hour until I got them back. We talked for a good bit about combat-oriented things. Said the only reason they were doing this was because I was willing to learn. Of course (as this isn’t WoW), and I learned a lot. I also asked the person about welding a huge axe, and what I would need to do in order to ‘git gud’ at using it. For one thing, I wouldn’t have a shield anymore (and I would need to start using my Plate set again). Plus, I would need to start fighting in the Aggressive mode.
I asked what enchants the axe would need for PvE. Pretty much the same as on my sword, but they recommended I get ‘Mind Steal’. It has a chance to give a gain in a random stat.

I then said how I would give my old chain set (and weapons) to B2(though I said ‘my alt’ in its place), so they can start practicing their FS. The person said that wouldn’t be a good idea as I should focus on this guy only; stating (in their opinion), to not use alts except for storage or as a Priest.
I wanted to give B2 the chance to not live in my shadow anymore. Yet the person didn’t know the questionable connection I had with my alt.
I told the person I also use my alt as a cook as I’m too lazy to do it myself. The person said that if I used my main, I would gain more benefits to my stats (such as more Mind Logic, body stats, and other stats. Mmmmm….. I’m going to have to have a serious talk with B2 about this, when I get home. The whole point I created him, was to be my cook. Losing that, then what’s the point of even keeping him around?

Moving on, I got my items back. The person then wanted to show me how archery works in this game (which I’ve never seen..ever in this game). First off, you have to go completely armorless(as you actually get debuffs for wearing armor). So if a wolf shows up and starts biting your ass while you’re trying to pick off a troll from a distance? You’re fucked! Plus, not all mobs can be killed with arrows; crocks and scorps can glance arrows off their armor.
Saw what happens when attacking a non-glancing mob; a bull, 40 tiles away. Died in four hits. Wow. Also, I love how the arrows whizzed by, going vertical towards the target. Silly Wurm graphics. Watching in the Combat log of a second bull dying due to a ‘deadly hard in the crotch’ was hilarious. You have been permanently castrated (and now dead)! Oh god, Wurm.. HAHAHAHA!!
Overall, I was told archery in PvE isn’t really a good idea; mainly for PvP. The exact opposite for many, many other games that have a ranged class.

Before the person departed, they offered to do a friendly duel with me. Dealing with my horse pretending it was on an ice rink (by sliding as it eventually stopped turning), I hopped off and did.
I may be getting good at PvE, but OUCHY BABA did I get red QUICKLY once we started! Not even a troll could make me red that quick! I don’t even know how many really bad wounds I had when the person started healing me. Said “u’ll live” to me. I could see why I went red so fast when they allowed me to look at their gear. True PvP gear. Not fair. 😛 But, from a seasoned fighter of the Chaos server, it’s to be expected.
I should’ve asked if they knew MD (though he’s probably in the Epic cluster, wrecking villagers and burning down deeds like a true dragon), but it never occurred of me to ask.

The person left. I went over and killed a crock with my newfound Dragon Warrior knowledge. They asked to PM if I needed anything else. Seeing I was out of meals (had eaten all I can from that one guy) I had to ask for more as my fat layers were the same as they were before. Relogged as the studdering was so bad that it was virtually unplayable. Much tolerable when I came back.
Got the meal; nearly 90 QL and a lot of meat on it. Lovely! Was told to take a container with me, except I have to place it down in order for food to not decay as much. That’s not going to work when I have no deed here. Really wish there was a way to make meals not decay as fast when on the go.
Made my way back to my boat, and tried to think of what I should do for the remainder of the day. Decided to go back to an abandoned deed about a few minutes East from Serenity that has a guard tower (it’s where I dropped off the horse and my tent before). This will be my new temp base for the time being, and just go back to Serenity when I wanna go back to horseback riding (as I don’t see a way to the main roads from my current position).

Since I’ve un-officially have completed going around the coast, I guess it’s time to check out the interior of the server. With the new fighting knowledge of stabbing mobs in the face and the neck (and the new helm), I’ll be able to fight mobs more efficiently (aka quicker). Who knew “aim for the head” also works in Wurm, huh?

Yet I do feel this is quite a somber victory, as I feel my pride was somewhat tarnished for needing to be taught this. Plus the way I acted and all when I feel I needed to heal a Medium? Meh. Guess I forget I’m still (unfortunately) human(and we make mistakes). 😛
I just wish I was taught all of this a LOT sooner when I was initially leveling up my FS back home (way before I did all of this).
Think I could’ve saved myself some silver by not buying the chain set (and having it imped). Though I can always sell it. But I’ll keep it for now and switch to my Plate set (once I switch from a longsword/large iron shield to a Huge axe and start attacking in Aggressive).
I probably won’t be getting that axe anytime soon. I dunno. It really depends on what happens after I get home (and how much silver I get back once I renew Prem for myself and B2). *sigh*..I dunno. I really..REALLY don’t know what I’m going to do with him. But that’s for another time. Let’s NOT worry about it right now.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 6)

Wow… Day 6 and I’m not even halfway done exploring the coastline on horseback. Back in Deli, this was when I had to go home as Wurm Fall was going to happen. Here, Wurm Summer is going to happen tomorrow (of the Wurm year 1064)
This day was a day of huge deeds locked up tighter than Fort Knox, plopped right on the shoreline, and sometimes having no possible way of going around it. But it also had some unbelievably amazing views (even a few cool deeds).

Continuing where I left off, looking West, I saw the Rift is now active. But it shouldn’t be a concern for me as it’s on the West coast somewhere. Continued along the road following the coast I was at, was a deed that opened it’s doors to me (literally). Stopped next to two merchants with signs next to them. They weren’t the signs that I would see around FM stating the merchant has been restocked, but trying to get me to buy their wares. Really didn’t have anything I want, though one of them had one of those somewhat rare Valrei items (named ‘Silvery Spirit’). I’ve found three of these identically-named items when going around in my boat, and sold them for 60c(20c each).
As as I was heading out of the deed, I happen to pass through a gate called “Thereddragon’s Gate”. Ohh, so there’s someone with ‘dragon’ in their name here. They even went as far as to have a house called “The Red Lair”,
Outside the deed, was a small hill of Clay. If only I could have only this much of Clay.

Exo continued to wow me as I went along the coast, namely with lots of Grape bushes. Seeing tree-free patches of grass, I like seeing. More pictures (and more photobombing mobs) later, I made it to the other side of the canal (next to Boppingtonville). Lavender-lined roads, another thing I like seeing. I also ‘had’ to kill an Aged hen for being uncooperative (of constantly shying away and interrupting my Grooming actions). Probably defective and had to be put down. 😛
Eventually (after having to run while taking pictures), I made it to ‘Skeleton Desert’ (the thing I said that should’ve been named ‘Scorpion Desert’ with so many scorps I saw before). I also stopped by a merchant selling cotton, healing covers, and Farmers Salves. No token to go by some, so I left it alone. But since leaving, I saw something in orange letters show up in my Event tab..
“You scratch yourself. What did you catch now?”
I’m now ‘Diseased’. Ohhh fuck. HOW the hell did I get this?! Didn’t seem to affect my char’s vision or anything, but I was still a bit concerned about it. Further down the road I entered a pretty nice deed named ‘Stonewall’. Heh. Named after a Priest ability. Nice. There were two people in my Local (but it turned into one named ‘Ruiner’). I was able to enter their deed.
Decided to ask for some meals (as my fat layers are low). Yep. Just barge in to a stranger’s deed and expect them to give me meals! But this person was nice, and gave me 11. I also asked them about this disease. He said you have to be in a crowded area(like 4-5 horses), or be around a mob or something that’s Diseased. Said it’ll wear off and to not worry about it.
So I thanked them for the meals and continued on. Found a bridge/landbridge combo (one of the many obstacles I had to navigate around when I was in my boat). Got some good pictures of the shoreline. Crossed both the bridge and the landbridge. As I was nearing the end, a heavy lag spike happened and I was forced to stop to allow the server to once again track my location. People in kchat started commenting shortly after, also having it happen to them. One said it’s been bad since yesterday.
With that out of the way, I turned back around and went through the person’s deed again to get back on the shoreline.
Much more beauty awaited me along the coast. Not as beautiful as Deli, but still nice.

Made it to a canal called the ‘Giants Causeway’. Had to cross an available bridge as the canal was too deep to pass by.
About 20 or so minutes after following the coast, I got a new message in my Event tab;
“You feel a lot better now as your disease is gone.”
Phew! That’s a relief. I feared it would’ve done adverse affects to my character. Glad nothing happened. Now I can go back to having ‘The mature raging angry dragonhead’ again. I reached another canal. It was shallow enough, but with a bear next to me, I had to get moving again.
Soon I stopped at a pretty area. Except further travel along the coast would be hampered by not only steep terrain, but by lots of mobs. Guard tower in the area, and I decided to tell the guards to kill lesser mobs as well as trolls. Seeing how my longsword is at 20 damage, I knew the mobs’ plan was to cause my sword to break and I would be defenseless. Those brainless AI are actually pretty smart, as they fight cheaty by “mob dies, 20 more take its place”. And that’s why I’m tired of fighting mobs. Why fight when you got a guard tower with lifeless guards ready to fight for you? It kills the mob, and protects my sword from excess damage.
This also came true when I finally was able to get back on the coast (after cutting through forests). Another guard tower here, and used it to secure the area (as Sol was going down).

Next day, it started off slow; more attempts to take pictures while dodging mobs. Half an hour later, I encountered three of those large deeds placed on the shoreline (all within about 30 tiles of eachother). One of these deeds was disbanded and slowly decaying away (yet the majority of its walls were intact).
‘Segeruby’ was in my Local, and I asked them if they know the previous owner of the first deed (as I wanted to file a complaint of blocking the shoreline). They knew the mayor; said they had RL issues and would “might be back soon”. And I told myself that bitching about this won’t work as they have every right (just like someone claiming a mountain), and I let it go.
The person then asked me if I was looking for a recent abandoned deed named ‘Banya’. Said I’m just exploring the shoreline, and asked what makes the area so special. He thought I was one of these low-life looters who steal from recent abandoned deeds. Of course I’m not. Morals, remember?
Final deed in my way, forcing me to hop off the horse and lead it past an area I had no trouble with. #Wurmfirstproblems
This also had the first wild goblin that I’ve seen since 2010. I remember having goblins invading my deed in the past. Now it’s like they’re so rare nowadays..if only trolls were. Killed this ven goblin as easy as a wolf. If only trolls were this easy to kill… :/

As Sol is slowly starting to go on its downward arc, I finally made it to the South coast! Finally.. no more inland coastlines! About 10 minutes ahead of me would be extremely annoying. Mountainside in the way. Was OK for a bit, then the horse once again refused to go any further. Saw three passive mobs, but several mobs. Tried to quickly lasso the three and run to a safer location. But as I was running away, the three animals stopped following (as they can’t swim). Back and forth I went; spiders, wolves and bears on my tail. When I was finally able to lure them away, I was only able to Groom a few of them. But due to my frustration with it all, I killed the bull that refused to be groomed. Next time, do NOT shy away and interrupt me!
The rest of the passive animals went up the hill, never to be seen again. I did eventually get by the obstacle, by having to get off the horse, lead, swim over the gap, and ride. I really needed to lure the mobs away, so I can do it safely.

Ahead of me would be.. ugh. Another very large (but empty) deed. Three people in Local this time. Tried to go up this really, really messed up road to the left of the deed. Had to lead the horse up some of it. Once up, I looked at the map. And for the first time I saw no way around this one. I had to ask if anyone would allow me to pass through the deed in order to continue following the coast. With no response, I was forced to look at it closer. Swimming along the wall was out of the question, as I would likely drown before I make it.

Got a response from ‘Jibberish’. Person said their “deed manager” is off-server, but can give me a lift to the other side of the deed. Told them that it’s not possible to lead a horse as a passenger. After being told by the person “I’ll lead the horse then”.. all I could think of is ‘Yeah, so you can steal it’ and said “I’ll just look for another way around”.

I was willing to risk drowning, than having someone else leading the horse with 2.5s attached to it. Went back down the crooked road and saw the person standing there waiting for me. Was getting ready to swim, when they showed me a rowboat. Was told to command it. So I did and we got to the other side of the deed. Thanked them for the service and moved on. The person said that other deed mayors aren’t as nice.
I said “Yeah, I know of of how ‘nice’ some people treat explorers to this server.” The person said “there’s a lot of bad groups on this server”. I asked are there any of these ‘groups’ I should watch out for. All I got was a “just deed/lock your stuff and you should be okay” answer. Well duh. I’ve known that for years.
Just when the person mentions ‘groups’, I’m thinking..what, like the mafia?

Couldn’t continue on past this point, as more horse shenanigans were going on (aka “Noooo I can’t do down that slope(even though you could as a player)!”. This had a strange mountain in the middle of being able to get there normally. It took time, but I finally was able (after much “WTF WHY AM I GOING NORTH, I NEED TO GO EAST!!!”) to navigate this mess. It took me to the other side of the ‘Giant’s Causeway’ canal. The bridge I went across before was in the distance of the canal.
Sol’s going down again, and Exo tries to make up for the horse shenanigans in the very best way possible (with more beauty). The evening glow made it even more beautiful.
Though I wasn’t done with large deeds in the way of the shoreline. The area behind it did, provide some breathtaking views of the area (including what I believe to be an overlook point of the deed). The deed wasn’t necessarily sitting on the shore perse, but the anti-visitor gates were blocking access to it.
Found a guard tower nestled in a dip behind the hill, that I used to setup camp.

The next day came. Time to figure out how to get past this deed and continue following the shoreline! When I was trying to scope out any weakness in the fences, I saw a distant phasing Colossus of Magranon having trouble trying to load itself(kept rapidly appearing and disappearing). “An illusion!? What are you hiding!?”
Soon, luck was in my favor as I somehow was able to pass by two of the high fences(with one of them completely decayed), granting me access to the coast! Crossed the one tile wide bridge here. I also saw the Exo/Cel Boat Bridge.

Past the bridge, so. much. HURTYNESS with multiple mobs here! Plus, there was a similar issue was I had before. Except someone thought it was a really good idea by completely digging up one side of this coastal road (making it impassable without swimming). Every mob in the area knew this, and boy did they not disappoint in pissing me the fuck off. Running around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to outrun these mobs..only for more to show up from the mountain here.
Though I did get a really good laugh of telling the guards to attack a ven troll (and getting another ‘Epic helper’ achievement when I didn’t assist). Hahaha!
Unfortunately the side of this mountain was laughing at me, having a huge section of it going really steep. Was a way around it (by going around the North of the mountain, and then working back down the other side).

This lead me to..quite the delightful big deed called ‘Black Pearl’. There was this section that looked like a neighborhood of player housing. Absolutely loved this RL building design. Someone named ‘Rgr’ in my Local asked “whats up?”. I said “Trying to explore the coast, with mobs at my heels. You?” Said they’re just making planks.
We talked for a bit (mainly combat-related things like trolls).
The person said they wouldn’t take on a troll unless in Plate. Told them that someone told me to get Chain. Then I mentioned I’m getting tired of combat as my gear will be needing repairing soon (and how it’ll cost a LOT of silver to do so).
The person misunderstood me, saying they’ll repair a studded set for free. I had to re-mention I’m wearing Chain; how it works as good as studded (IMO).
Eventually I waved goodbye and continued on this gorgeous alternate route around the mountain. Also, the way up to the mountain is blocked off. But that’s not where I’m going.
Reached the South road. But at the end I got stopped again of an asshole blocking access to the coast(using a deed)! Managed to work around this.

I made it to ‘The Badlands’ (and the Southeast side of the server) by crossing a bridge. I’m no longer going to go on these interior shorelines. I should’ve been done with this server by now (as I was done with Deli at this time). But, at least I’m glad I didn’t give up, I didn’t give in. I’m going to reach the end, and start again (on Celebration)! *Yes, I totally didn’t steal that from ‘Try Everything’ of Zootopia*
“Explore Everything!”

Erm. Where was I? Yes. More beauty from The Badlands. Completely tree-less. Total beauty (and great hunting potential). The freedom of being able to go anywhere. So awesome.
Passing that, I’m now passing by ‘Hell Horse Harbor’. Nice deed name. There was a guard tower kindly placed here, and I used it to keep any mob off me. Again I got the ‘Epic helper’ achievement from a troll dying to the guards. Discovered this mini-achievement is only if you’re killing mobs that a specific God wants you to(even if you don’t lay a claw on the mob).
Next up was this quite interesting deed design of ‘Babylon’. Mainly of a wooden bridge connecting to two distant buildings (and wooden bridges all over the place of this deed).

I’m now on the East coast, approaching another asshole deed in the way (and even more assaholic mobs keeping me from thinking of my options). Small arch bridge here. Access blocked to the deed. Rare guard tower on one side offered a safe haven as Sol’s setting (had to swim to it while leading the horse).

Next day, the only way past this dick move is going back to the SE side of the server, and going around the mountain here. I was almost forced to go with this, until I saw how little my Stamina was being used when swimming (and climbing). I decided to risk it, and the gamble paid off. I also saw a venerability in the security of the deed (missing wall, and squeezed through it). After being chased by a surprise wolf, this place has disbanded and is slowly decaying away. Quite the questionable names of this place; a building called ‘Crack Mansion’, and the four cardinal towers were named questionably. Nothing really Rated X, thankfully (just PG-13 stuff).

I found another hole in the walls and was able to leave the abandoned deed. Victory! Went over to these two islands accessible by bridge, and saw the army of Knarrs I mentioned on Day 1. Geeze, the person that built all of these..it must’ve taken them YEARS. Mind-blowing. Almost like these things were once used to assault a place over at the Chaos server (and its sub-servers).
Left these islands and went back to the mainland, following a road going inland (as it was going around a mountain edge). This…this lead me to..best way to explain it? Jaw-dropping beauty of a deed. THIS was the “HOLY FUCK I can’t wait to go here on horseback” deed! So stunning. Everything was falling into place.
Possibly the so fucking COOL aspect, was this 1×2 fishing shack (yet they call it their ‘Boathouse’) sitting on the river. Oh my gosh. I’m in heaven. The bridges. The bushes. The trees. So perfect. The only thing missing are waterfalls (which sadly will never be a thing in Wurm, as water will always be at sea level).

As I’m leaving the delightful area, the mayor of the place logged on. The person was quite modest after I said “I absolutely, positively… LOVE your deed!” by saying “oh thanks”. Awkward!
From here, the number of deeds I’m encountering is slowly increasing as I’m slowly approaching the Northeast coast. Passed through ‘Fort Froyan’, another deed sitting on the coast. Except this one was a nice deed and allowed me to pass through. I also got to see the inside of the ‘White Dragon Church’. The exterior was just a placeholder, as the interior is heavily under construction.
Heading for the exit, the mayor (or one of their villagers) has been collecting Valrei items (and putting two of them on display). One was called ‘Ornamented Token’. And the other was called ‘Shiny Crystal’. Through the gate was a crock and a spider that I got a nearby guard tower to keep them distracted to allow me to pass by.

‘Deathclaw Harbor’ was the next deed. Wolf near one of the gates of this deed. Decided to call for guards, and one came out of the gate and got it off me. 🙂
Passed by a large, flat area with three visible guard towers. Lots of dead mobs indicate the guards have been working overtime. And here, is when I was ONE GROOM AWAY from getting 20 in Animal Husbandry!
About 10 minutes later as I’m getting ready to pass by an abandoned coastal deed, I got it from a Sheep! WOO!! 😀 Yet when I tried to view my first trait of the horse I’m riding, I didn’t see anything new. Maybe you have to be 20.10 or 20.50 in AH to see it? *shrug*

Continued to follow the coast as normal. On one side I saw the corpses of four brown bears, a crock, and a troll. I soon entered one of the two ‘POTENTIAL deed moving spot’ areas I marked on the map. There was a new sailboat here (named ‘New Hope’) that I didn’t see before. No damage on this one. Possible this could either be the former mayor or someone else thinking of claiming the area. Well, they can have it.
Entered another area close by, with a guard tower and lots of dead mobs. Lots of passive mobs too that I helped myself with Grooming them all. They didn’t cause me too many issues with shying away and interrupting me. There was a lone wolf stalking in the forest. I gave it something else to fight instead of myself via a few tower guards. 🙂

And here’s where things went from calm, to freakin’ awesome. Well, except another mountain in the way. But the mountain was able to allow me to access a pretty awesome bridge. And with Skyrim’s theme song playing in Pandora (as I often listen to the service while doing this)… it felt like Exo’s last attempt to make me reconsider moving here. And holy fuck did it not disappoint. Watching an island in this bay go past me as I’m riding on this very long two-tile wide bridge.
Well done, Exo. You earned my respect back. If only your community cared as much for explorers visiting you as they do of making you beautiful.
This bridge could had taken me closer to the Northeast coast (and to my boat), but I decided to leave it and follow the coast (plus I wanted to get some breathtaking views of said bridge). Though, taking the bridge would’ve been the better idea (as getting around two large deeds on the coast, proved to be challenging). More doors and walls in the way. One time I had to swim around one of the walls. Nearly lost my horse as the wall was in the way (and there’s no way to tell the horse to stay close to me when I lead it).
There was also a lot of people in my Local. But when I tried to say hey to them all, I got no response. See what I mean? I get a few people might’ve been AFK, but there were at least 10 people here. Surely someone wasn’t busy enough to say hi. But no one did. Got the cold shoulder.

I got past ‘Shagsville’ (via the ‘Shagsville Bypass’ bridge here. Then I started to get lost as Sol’s going down for the final time this day. I knew I needed to find a guard tower, but never saw one. I did get some pictures of that long bridge, though.
Lamps were turning on and I still didn’t find a tower. Started to get worried. I can’t just drop down a tent with all of these deeds around.
Found a guard tower in the distance of the desert. Didn’t know this was the southern half of ‘The Great Northern Desert’. Set up camp kind of near this tower (as it was sitting on a deed). No mobs on this side of the desert except for a lone rat. Told the guards to deal with it, incase it decided to come over here and cause an issue.

And that’s Day 6. A lot to say, yet again a lot to not say as the majority of it was just running around on the coast.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 5(Part 2))

My hopes that NESgamepro are being shattered by an unlikely person (Jakerivers), who’s playing the “if they wanna claim a mountain, that’s their business” card.
Well buster, explorers should be allowed to go anywhere, and explore everything (that isn’t a private deed). And having an asshole claim two mountains and disallow anyone else from going up there is WRONG!
*sigh* But I’ve already been through this. I just wonder what else that is cool on the map, would be blocked off.
The whole reason why I’m even making a big deal, is the peak was techinically going around the coast. And there was a road to get back down the other side. Instead I was forced to go the long way around. But, by doing so did reveal some pretty cool stuff… so it wasn’t that all bad.

At 9:15pm or so, I’m going to log in for “Part 2” of Day 5. There will be no more rambling…as long as I don’t have this happen again. Though I am thankful that the person didn’t completely block off access from going around the island. He could had and been even more of a dick, but he didn’t.
There’s still a rule, that if there’s no other way around, you’ll be answering to the GMs.

.
And “Part 2” of Day 5 has begun. I had logged out near the deed that had fucked me over. Expected to see a spider or something coming from the mountain (that I cannot access). The game wanted me to make sure my Prem time was going to expire soon by putting in my face “Your premium time expires this week.”
Geezus, Wurm. It’s almost like you’re hurting for money.
During my.. emotional breakdown yesterday, I did check the map and there is a way around that deed I encountered. It goes inland, but I do see small branching roads leading back to the shoreline. Also, I forgot to mention. I mailed Shydow’s horse gear to B2. He’ll be able to store them safely in my deed until I get a response from them.
Took this three-tiled road. Didn’t realize I would be in for a treat with a beautiful road ahead (especially when it went diagonally Southeast). After crossing a bridge, it looked like a one-tile road with trees of all kinds on both sides of the road (with Walnut being the dominant).
It was so scenic. So beautiful. It’s almost like Exo was trying to ‘apologize’ to me. I really loved it. Plus, there was no mobs… that was until I tried to go over to a sheep to Groom it when a spider popped out of the forest, and now it’s dead for being a douche. 😛
There was a lake to the NE of me, but I didn’t know how to get down to it (nor did I see any roads showing how on the map). Infact, a lot of the branching roads off of this main road, the entrances were missing from months (or possibly years) of misuse.

Saw a mountain lion on the side of the road and killed it, and I got a message that “Magranon is pleased.” Okay, so where’s my big fat reward for killing 80 or so mountain lions? Didn’t get any money for doing it. Wurm’s Mission mechanic is still unknown to me.

Continuing on, I went past several tree farms. This eventually lead to a road that would lead me back to sea level. Passed by an un-deeded structure on the left of the road, called “Freedom and Cheese Church”. Curious, I went in this arched roofed structure. Looked like a typical Wurmian church…except it had a dark secret along the arches; the gravestones(with some nearly decaying away) of many, many dead Champion and Unique mobs (including green and black dragon hatchlings, and a red dragon).
This is..freaky, and highly disturbing. What..are they doing with these gravestones? Why are they aligned like this? Is this some kind of satanic ritual that they’re…wow, this is messed up. I left the disturbing “church”. Was checking the map again and I’m now being attacked by a wolf (who’s hiding from my view). Found the sneaky ass hiding behind a tree.
Sneaky wolf is sneaky.

Now on the coast, I followed it North. Stopped at a very small lake infront of me with a wooden bridge connecting the other side to a slightly higher point on the hill next to me. Saw a wolf keeping me from getting a good picture. Started to engage..
“A venerable troll moves in to attack you” shows up in my Event log. NOPE!! Ran around the small lake, trying from another position to get a picture..when a bear tries to photobomb me. So I run back across, to the troll. Stuck between a club and a brown furry ball with a powerful jaw and claws.
Remembering of a guard tower nearby, I attempt to lead the troll away using one of the connecting roads (hoping it’ll take me to the main road I was on before). Getting lost, with one (now two) wolves following me, somehow magically biting my ankles when I’m nowhere near them.
I managed to outrun all three mobs. Well, still works! When I went back to get the pictures of the small lake, it was mob-free. I also went on this strange wooden bridge. The other end, never really lead anywhere. Of all the times a bridge is needed, IMO it wasn’t here. Maybe it was just someone that really wanted to build a bridge.
Ehh. Whatever. Moved on, for the 3rd time since arriving on this side of Green Bay, I passed by this small settlement. The name (Koifish), I remember seeing this person logging in yesterday. All it was, was a 3×1 house (and a medium-sized farm of Cotton). There were no named horses (just a single wild ven horse that wasn’t branded), which leads me to believe this person is temp living here. Going by the damage on the walls, I would guess it’s been a few weeks since they moved in.
Having no deed, and that small of a house, the person is a non-prem. But they sure have a lot of animals. I doubt it’s anything like something I might do of setting up a temp base.

Also, it was near a pretty large deed. This leads me to believe this person is friends with the mayor here, allowing them to live this close to their deed. This lead to an even bigger deed as I continued to follow the coast.
Part of this large deed, had a unique cave canal. What was unique is the bottom was shallow enough to allow the horse to traverse through the tunnel. The other end wasn’t though, but there was foot access. A troll saw me and gave chase, but didn’t get far as they don’t know how cave entrances work. 🙂
So this detour I did? Let’s say it made me very, very happy after what I’ve been through. A shallow river, with bridges that you can go over and under. Willow, Cherry and Walnut trees on the sides. Whoever made this, well done. This is, BEAUTIFUL!! This…THIS is what I’ve been looking for, Exo!! A reason to explore! 😀
This is why POIs don’t work for me in this game. I didn’t even know this gem existed.
And it didn’t stop there. Was trying to get back the way I came, went the wrong way, but saw this arch bridge going over the river and a road next to it. I was able to go across this bridge (not fully, as the other end was blocked by a gatehouse).
Went back down the bridge, and went under it and followed the river. FUCK ME, I’m crying. So awesome!!
Made it back to the coast, and it was like Exo was saying “hope you enjoyed that”. I did.. I definitely did. It refilled my exploration urge! So glad I didn’t give up!

Continued to go through this pretty large deed until I’m suddenly in a desert (with forest to the right of me). Go home, Wurm biome system. You’re drunk. Stopped at a road going East/West (with another larger road infront of me). Checked the map and saw I was near Esert. I’m still following the coast, and..I’m near Exert. This wasn’t the way back in Deli with Green Dog.
I also saw a mountain right infront of me, named ‘The Oalhadras’. Is that a reference to something? Dunno. Lastly, I was near a deed called ‘Stanford and Son’. Went there first. The place, reminded me back in 2010 of the deed to the SE of me in Indy (of the first few months since I had moved in); lots of missing high walls. In the distance were lots of merchant stalls. Went over to them, and they were all empty (and heavily decayed). This place is going to disband soon.
What’s strange, is I think this might of been at one time, a very rare “mega-deed” (as there’s also an abandoned deed in the same area (once called ‘Vicus Arboria’). Very fascinating.

Another interesting thing is the way the directional signs were named around here. I was seeing “‘Deed Name’ (Deed)”, and “Tar (Resource)”. Am I to believe, Exo is younger than Deli (as I never saw this around Green Dog)? Obviously these signs were once for complete newbies not knowing what a ‘deed’ is.
Followed the ‘Esert (Starter Town)’ signs (one on each end, so you won’t get lost). Yet the hilarious irony in this is there was no sign pointing to Esert once I got there. I also got to play with a ven lava spider.

Esert still has its rolling hills and a whole lot of..nothing else. This place possibly was a bustling deed back in the day (like Newtown was in Gold 2). Also, I didn’t even realize the Epic portal had two toy-sized horse statues on the ends.
Got bored with the place quite quickly (guess that’s the point). Tried to go up the mountain I saw infront of me before. That bigger road I said, went straight up. Followed it, only for it to stop short. Looked closely, and saw an alternate route on the West side of the mountain. It wouldn’t lead to the peak, but it would be close. With how outdated the mapdump is, I assumed the road has been finished now.
Continued along the coast as Sol’s setting. Got to the large flatraised island (there’s just so many references to my past Wurm life of this server on this (‘Part 2’) day. This one was the time where I started having the urge to wanting to live the ocean, but it would be flat. Tried to make that island.. and the pain I went through trying to get people to help me.
Back to the present, I sweeped for hostiles and killed two bears, securing the island. There’s two guard towers on the mainland incase I need them. Set up camp and logged out.

Next day, I went on the ‘Royal Flush’ bridge and got some pictures, then went back across the landbridge and continued along the coast. Saw ‘The Red Dragon Hotel’ again. A bit past that hotel (and the Gold Pearl “Market”), was the alternate route that nearly lead to the peak. I expected heavy resistance getting up there, and the game didn’t let me down. Started with one troll. Lead it down to an awaiting guard tower. Went back up..another troll showed up in the EXACT same spot as before. Ok, what the hell? Lead it down to the awaiting guard tower. This second one dropped an ‘unfermented rum’ recipe. Woo! Then I get ambushed by an ‘aged hardened black wolf’. Looks like the wolves are pissed off of me slaughtering their entire family, that they created a ‘monster’ in order to finish me off. It was a bit tougher than even a ven wolf, I’ll admit. But I took it down.
Your plan is foiled, wolves! Yet the other mobs had another plan up their…whatevers, and it nearly worked in their favor. Sent a hellhound in to keep me busy, while three spiders start Focusing up, making them too strong for me to handle. I was down to 36% health of mobs that should be no problem for me. But hellhounds have that ability to turn the fight into their favor (somehow).

Ran back, and then..I groomed a Rooster (and then made it give its life essence to me by killing it). That and I had to use cotton on three close to 15 damage wounds. The mobs apparently didn’t think I would have the smarts to do that. They were fatally wrong, as they paid the price. The sounds of spiders dying in horrible (yet delightful) ways could possibly be heard for a good distance.
Ohh poor spider. Don’t like me ripping off one of your legs and SHOVING IT UP YOUR ASS, DO YOU?! 😀
(And you thought that ‘church’ I passed by was scary)
Even after having their extremities rammed up their assholes, the mobs weren’t done with me. Not by a long shot. Halfway up this secondary alternate route, I needed to catch my breath incase a mob shows up. Two did; two black bears. Then I was being attacked by a brown bear behind me, and then a wolf joins in the fight..followed by another brown bear. This was IT for them! If they couldn’t piss me off here, they would give up!
They never got me past 70% health when the last bear died. Though I had to ‘turn into my dragon form’ (aka reach the max level of Focus) to #REKT their faces. 🙂
They left me alone to continue to go up the mountain side. Reaching the end of the road, I could see the entire North and Southeast coasts from here. This made up for not being able to head up to Gryphon Peak. Heck, this thing was higher than that crap mountain (not by much, but it was still nice)!

Looking to the Southeast, I could see the fabled ‘Wolf Mountain’ (from all the stories I heard of dragons and other uniques up there). Day 1 of exploring on horseback (when I was waiting in my tent of the rented horse), someone in kchat was mentioning that in two weeks or so, the peak would be opened to the public (as the person is working on an elevator of sorts to get up there of their deed). Personally, a tunnel going up like other passages (or a switchback road) would work (as it works for horses).
Horses don’t use openings or staircases.
Went back down the way I came, and continued on. A few more mobs decided to lie to me and tried to attack, but I just ran right past them on the horse. Not really anything to note, except that I had finally left Green Bay. Still not on the main ocean coasts. There’s just so many inland coastal areas on this server.
There was also this one section of this coast road, of this blinded one tile road going into a deep forest. It looked so inviting (and deadly). And I was right as there were two cave bugs lurking in it.

I started heading in the direction of ‘Sandhill Market'(yet not going to stop there as I have already) as Sol is setting, and made my camp on another flatraised island in the mouth of this large lake. It was a fairly large farm, going by the large square box of walls.
Came back and continued onward. Saw a flooded road on one side of this lake, and passing by a pretty cool canal. Approaching this one deed, I froze in fear as I feel I just saw a ghost, of a person with…such a familiar name, appearing and then disappearing from Local; “Mistvengery”.
No…NO. It CAN’T BE!! Not…Angry!! I tried to calm myself, still feeling scared to death of what I saw. Angry’s main in Wurm, was ‘Misterangry’. This person’s name..it’s such an eerie resemblance. Yet, yet I swear I’ve seen that name before. Maybe in Global Kchat? It couldn’t be angry. Why would he even care about what I’m doing? And HOW, would he even know where I was at that moment (when I’m just now writing about this)?!

Getting over that shock to the system, I continued getting pretty pictures (never seeing that name again). More trolls, and more towers to deal with them later on (and pure beauty that I feel Exo is trying to win my respect..and it’s working), I found myself at the canal to Esert. Damnit! I went too far North! Tried to turn around and get back to where I needed to go. Finally did, and decided to check out the island here. The mobs wanted me to check out their painful ways of dealing with players.
Oh yeah… I REACHED 70FS HERE (from killing a Wolf)!! WOO HOO!! 😀
“You have just received the title ‘Dragon Warrior’!” (actually it was named ‘Mercenary’, but one can dream)

Visited ‘Bouncy Castle’ which had a place belonging to “Ipeeinpools”(how in the heck did the GMs allow them to keep that name?) and ‘Boppingtonville'(very large deed, confusing layout).
The 3rd deed was also an issue, as it was blocking access further. Trying to get around every gate locked (except one that put me in the main area of the deed by accident). I felt like a mouse unable to get the cheese as I was caught in a labyrinth, with all ways locked out (except the gate I came through).
Sol’s setting for the final time this ‘Part 2’ night when I finally escaped the deed. Mobs engaging, trying to get some evening pics (and groom animals). Nope and nope!
Guard tower presents itself with a troll behind me. It’s dead. Tried my best to secure the area, leading another troll to the guards.
Two mountain lions fell to my blade of my sweep for mobs, and a wolf hiding in the forest. Set up camp near an old boat dock (close enough to the guard tower).

.
‘Part 2’, huge comeback from what nearly completely killed off my urge to explore (all over not being able to go up a stupid mountain). Exo awarded me for staying with its beauty, and I thank it. So glad I did.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 5(Part 1))

Since arriving on this server, I felt unwelcomed by it and its community. Today, has been no exception to this. With having a section of public highway leading to two beautiful vistas, blocked by some asshole who all they say is “sorry about that”.
Also, Shydow hasn’t responded to me yet about getting back their lended horse gear. Not sure what to think about that. I’m still holding onto them and only using what I legit got.

Logged back in, horse (and tent) still with me. Another reason why I picked this spot was due to the lack of mobs around the area. For some reason, they’re avoiding it. That’s OK with me! Also, the ‘Aged horse’ is now an “Old horse’. That answered the question I had about mob difficulty (if they’re stronger Old or Aged).
Actually, there was only one mob here (that was there when I logged out; a vern crab. No problem for me. I then checked my map and saw I was close to Green Bay. Saw another road going South and around to enter the bay, and went for it. This lead down to sea level and routes leading to the East and North. Saw a hellhound and just ran past it.
Entered a deed called ‘Port Royal’. Quite nice and only one mob around. That’s great, as I had bio issues IRL I needed to tend to at the time. After killing the mob, I parked next to a guard tower in the deed and did my business. This took longer due to other RL things happening.
Came back and me and my horse are still OK. Checked the map again and saw where I really wanted to go next; Gryphon Peak. On the map, it shows a 1 tile road going up with open air on both sides. HOLY. FUCK did I want to go up there!! THIS is the kind of challenge I accept! 😀
But before I went there, I continued around the coast of Green Bay. Heard combat of a crock in the distance with a player fighting it, and used my speakers to pinpoint its location and ran over to assist. By the time I got there, I heard the crock dying. Saw a guy just chilling in his smeltry, in a full plate set. He responded to me, saying he appreciated me coming to help but he had it taken care of. Then he asked me where I lived, and I told him that I was visiting from Indy. He assumed I was out hunting, but I said exploring. Then he assumed I’m looking for a place to live. And I said “to move, actually”.
He tells how “there are tons of abonded places accross the bay”. I said I’ve seen them when I was going around the coast in my boat and now I’m going on horseback. He didn’t say anything since then, so I bidded him goodbye and tried to follow the roads to Gryphon Peak. Though a lot of the roads here weren’t on the map, but my persistence paid off as I found the highway leading up to the south mountain (which goes to the peak).
Yet a quarter of the ways up, I see a gate named “Gate to OG”. I approached, and it wouldn’t open. Are. you. SERIOUS?! You’re blocking a PUBLIC HIGHWAY?! Isn’t that against the rules? I asked kchat if anyone knew of this gate, and they had no idea. Then I got a PM by someone I mentioned yesterday (Day 4.. how I said would be my ‘polite enemy’?) asking what do I need. I asked them if they know of this gate, and he says “thats my deed”.
I’m shocked, asking him why block a public highway. And he says he built the roads, which means he’s..exempt from the rules in that case. Asked him if there’s any alternate routes up there, he says “no”.
What. the. FUCK?! How DARE you block me from exploring beautiful vistas, sir!! I would understand, if there was a dragon up there (probably is). But to block the entire fucking mountain?! And then he insults me by telling me to “start climbing”. Wow.
So, I was forced to continue exploring the coast. The road up at Gryphon Peak looked like it would had taken me where I needed to go, but I had to (ironically) head back to the guy’s other deed on the coast in order to continue exploring.

This took me to Union Lake. Sol’s starting to go down as I’m trying to find a way past the other side of the canal that goes to Crescent Bay(and that mess of bridges). A troll caught my antics and gave chase. A guard tower (that was rare) nearby, stopped it from putting the severe hurtyess on me.
Set up camp at this pretty nice abandoned deed. If I wasn’t so annoyed of everything that has happened to me since I arrived(and recent), this would’ve been a prime candidate to move in. It was this really nice inlet area next to a river (that’s part of Union Lake), that felt so snug and perfect. It even would’ve made me try to build my first bridge over the canal.. plus, it has Tar!

Next day, I was still trying to figure out how to get past the canal. Looking at the map revealed routes to the other side. Tried the closest which was just a road going into the canal. Didn’t get far as a troll saw me on the other side. Had to go back across the canal to get to the tower. Then a bear also shows up. Fed up of this shit with lesser mobs are keeping me from assisting the guards with a troll, I told them to engage the bear. Now with the lesser fucker being tanked, I could focus on the vern troll pumbling my lifeless NPC buddies.
No one died by doing this (except the bear and the troll). Serves them right. Went across the canal for a 3rd time and no mobs engaged me. I soon emerged close to the deed where I had fucked up by logging off with a horse on-deed. I also went to a small lake that I didn’t explore in my boat (due to the bridge here being too low for a Knarr to get through).
A few mobs were around the lake, but I just ran past them. Somehow I actually made it back to the deed I fucked up at. Checking the map again, I was close to the other road I saw I was going to head down to get here. And I thought to myself, I should prove to this guy that there IS another way up there! Going up this 20 slope all the way road, I had several mobs (and a vern troll) in the way. As much as I wanted to get these mindless player-killing assholes to listen to my “Will you all JUST FUCK OFF?!” screaming, I had to kill them. Well, except the troll of course. Tower on the way up. Thank goodness for that.

The cobblestone road turned to grass, with trees blocking my visibility. I thought “is this part of the challenge?” Then when I turned West to follow the grass road, it ends at a high grass wall with iron fencing. He was right…there is no other way up. It’s like, there used to be, then… this guy showed up and ruined it.
I had to go back down, and stopped while looking over the landscape down below. And I turned into…I turned into…I just stopped being myself. I…I stopped caring about exploration. Felt my will was broken by this. I stood there, rambling on for the longest time to myself while Sol was still high in the sky but starting to make it’s downward arc.
I asked kchat, “what’s up with Gryphon Peak? Why is it blocked off to the public? Is there a dragon up there or something?” A rather annoyed ‘Sugarfoxx’ responded to me with lots of “:P” emotes (due to my constant questioning), stating “they just want their privacy.” Another one says “if you can deed it, you own it”.
Guess my mind is wrapped around the MRT Server, where it would be SOOOOO against the rules if you pulled that off. How…HOW can you be a dick and claim an ENTIRE FUCKING MOUNTAIN for yourself (and not give public access)?!?!
*sigh*

Was on the verge of leaving this server, yet I said “You better fucking WOW me, Exo…” and continued going along this inner coast of the server (trying to get back to the actual coast). Was a deed up on a large, high flatraised area, with a bridge leading to the entrance. But to get to it required me to get through several mobs with a troll. I attempted, but when I got up.. the gate was locked. And when I tried to go further along the coast, was a canal-like thing but the entrance was sealed with a mine door. Had to go up and around as three spiders attempted to corner me. The horse couldn’t get to the other side, and the three spiders took turns hitting me.
Nope. Done. I’m done. Fuck you, Exo. You had your chance. I can’t take it anymore. Continued to ramble as Sol slowly set behind the mountain I couldn’t access.

.
I honestly don’t know what to think now. Sick of combat. Sick of having to work around obstacles. Sick SICK SICK!!! I feel like just canceling this whole expedition thing, going home and only logging in when I have to make the upkeep not disband my deed. I just…I just don’t have the patience anymore.

Maybe I’m just going to.. pause it for a bit, until I calm down. I’m just too agitated right now to continue doing this.
And that’s what I’m going to do. Consider this “Part 1” of Day 5. Alright? Tomorrow (at 10:17pm EST, the time this started), I’ll go back for “Part 2” of Day 5. Right now, I just need to relax and take a break from this. I made a post in the Wurm forum to the owner of the map (NESGamepro), in hopes they would do a permanent marker of where that gate is, that says there’s no way to Gryphon Peak (or even Sigil Summit). That way, any future explorers who see it, won’t be fooled by this. I also asked that all other mountain access roads would be checked if they’re also public or not (which would help me greatly).
You wanna claim two mountains and make them private property? Fine. But at least the guy could had put signs along the road to the gate, stating “Access to Gryphon Peak BLOCKED, private property.” Then maybe I wouldn’t be so angered. Actually, I would still be, trying to figure out why anyone would need that much space.
He’s probably loaded in cash for one thing; able to afford two deeds on one server. When I can barely afford Oceanside Retreat back home. I’ve not once ever reached 15s in my account (because I keep blowing it on armor and enchantments as if every day was Saturday).

Looking at the road closer, I can see the gate. I didn’t before. Taking this knowledge, I looked at the other accessible mountains that looked cool. The one called ‘Mount Eriador’ to the Southeast, I don’t see anything that looks like a gate. And it looks even higher than Gryphon Peak. So that’s where I might go next.
Anyway, see you on.. “Part 2” of this. At least I can get back to modded Minecraft for a bit.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 4)

Color me surprised, people! The person I assume stole my horse and then kept my 2.5s worth of horse gear for herself, responded. And their response was…shocking.
Said the reason my horse was taken, she saw me log out and assumed I had crashed.
I actually never thought of this being the reason.
In the middle of the night, I set sail back to the deed. I felt a huge sigh of relief, that she didn’t leave me for dead.
But I think I can safely say, this 24 spam has been nothing but assumptions. From thinking my horse was stolen, thinking she made off with 2.5s worth of horse gear, and now her assuming that I had suddenly crashed. She actually did care about the horse, thinking someone would take it.
Yet…why not find a way to contact me? Was it just late for them and all she could do was tell Hoppy? Well, that and she didn’t know my Wurm forum name (as it’s not Dragonhead.. it’s the original name I used when I first played Wurm in 2008(Benie)).

Arrived back, I also had to ask for another piece of rope to lead the original horse. She eventually arrived with the horse, saying she put it in in an ally’s deed. We talked for a bit, and she told me that she too had learned their lesson “before you”, that someone broke into her deed once and killed 40 of her animals… wow. I didn’t know Lockpicking was even allowed on the Freedom Isles!

I got three pieces of rope from her. Tried to lead the horse and I couldn’t, but it’s because it was still in the deed. She had to lead the horse into the water to get it out of the deed, and I finally got the Lead option. Bidded her adieu and went back to Serenity. She warned me to be careful, and I said I learned my lesson to always hitch the horse to my tent everytime I need to log out.
Last night I asked if it was possible someone could come along and bash the tent to get the horse. I’m now in ‘paranoid mode’ for a good reason. Was told no, as long as the tent is locked (which it is). Thank goodness there’s something that’ll keep the horse safe and close to me.

So, yay! My 2.5s is mine again! What a RELIEF after that fated evening yesterday. My luck has returned. All there’s left to do is un-equip Shydow’s horse gear, give the second borrowed (but named) horse back to the owners, and then mail Shydow back their horse gear.
I went back to the lag town, and asked them to please take the horse as I got mine back. Told them the name after they asked, and Hoppy came out to get it. I thanked them for letting me borrow it for a bit, and they thanked me for returning it.
See, I have morals. I could had left that horse for dead and left without even telling them where it was. But I’m not a monster. I’m an honest floating dragon head.. thing.
And I’m glad the person that had my 2.5s, was also honest with me.

I sent Shydow a PM on the Wurm forum last night, asking if I’m able to keep their horse gear (assuming the person wouldn’t give it back to me). Now that she did, I told Shy that as soon as they log in and respond, I’ll find a mailbox and mail back the items. I also took a picture of the gear, for future reference (incase I wanna try to pay for this once I get more silver).
Yes, what I have is not as fast as going 30km/h down a flat patch of road, but at least it’s legit.

I had to put the tent up and hitch the horse next to a guard tower, and log out just to post the good news to you guys.
Came back later on as I had more things to do in RL (and dinner to eat). My horse, is still with me (hitched to “DH’s Mobile Deed” as I named it). Unhitched and went on.
It was a cloudy say, which kept Sol from really shining down (making it look like it was evening all day).

Today, I wanted to check out the tip-top of ‘Mount Tundra’ (which is stone’s throw away from Dragon Point.. that is if you were the Hulk and had super strength).
Getting to the ‘mountain’ (which IMO is just one big hill) was pretty easy.
As I continued along the route, I found a magenta-colored sign pointing to the East, saying “- Highroad Market -“. I thought, ehh.. Sol’s up so I might as well. I’m always curious to see what the locals of the server have to sell.
Went to this new area, and these two gates. Started looking around for this ‘market’ the sign claimed. But what I found, I’m glad I took this little detour.
There was this 5x4x4 building called ‘Dead Horse Inn”. Loved the entrance. Then I noticed, this place almost looks like my house back home. Infact, I actually wish it was.
The inside looks realistic, and I really like the wrap around second floor connecting to the balcony. I could see my staircase replacing the opening. Thing is, there’s no forge or oven here. However, this is starting to get the ole creative juices flowing again (and a point of having a Workshop and a Kitchen).
Like, having a forge for myself and a forge for B2 to cook with. Huh? That would be cool.

Nice little detour. Definitely worth visiting. I also checked out their merchant(s).. well, there would had been two except one of them left due to the lack of business. Gee, I wonder why as this seems to be a trend on this server.
Anyway, needed to get back. Was getting ready to head back through the same gate I arrived, when I saw a troll. I did see a guard tower nearby, so I tried to get the troll to open the gate. Instead, it stops at the gate. Stood there puzzled, then thought “hmm… let’s troll the troll! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! :D”
Ran out of the gate, trying to get the troll to follow me. A wolf and a bear also engaged. Ran back in, laughed my head off at the troll couldn’t get in. I teased the thing. Yes, this is my way of getting revenge from being killed by one (twice) while I was here.
Yet I also wondered what was going on. Did they suddenly patch it that trolls can’t open unlocked gates anymore? Checked the gates, and they were both locked (yet allowed the public to enter). Ohh this is precious. What’s the matter, troll? Can’t beat me to death with your club?! You POOR THING!! Though I didn’t dare to come out, try to swing my sword at it and then sneak back into the gate. I tried that once and the troll managed to hit me a lot more.

Decided to just run out the gate and leave the troll in a cloud of dust. Isn’t that the real point of having a horse with fast WoA anyway? To be able to outrun any mob (instead of engage every mob)? Well, I would if I didn’t also want to stop to take lots of pictures. But mobs, they enjoy photobombing me.
It’s like what IGP said in his latest Subnautica video: “One of the things I wish didn’t happen, is when I’m trying to be sentimental, and talk about how much I love this, someone’s gotta interrupt and be a dick!!”
Took the first road going up to the peak. Yet I noticed something off and checked the map, and I was right. This wasn’t the main road leading up. Infact it stops short halfway up while going at a diagonal.

Though I had misjudged the main road up to the peak. Had trolls, wolves, spiders, and bears all around (and the occasional hellhound).
I’ve also been Grooming any passive mob I see, though I feel I’m wasting my time on this as it’s taking FOREVER just to get up to 20 AH.

There’s another thing about this road, and that’s the severe lack of guard towers. I guess, living on Exo, n00b fighters aren’t allowed(or it’s required to have a really fast horse). Now I’m not that level, but I can’t even kill a troll. That burns my ass so much.
On the way to the main road, I found an abandoned named (but saddled) horse on the side of the highway. A troll kept me from being able to fully find out who owned it; had to lure the asshole away. And that thing I said about “required to have a fast horse”? Wow, the equipment on this horse. 100 WoA just on the saddle! Mind blowing.
The troll, being a troll got closer to me and re-gained aggro. I was forced to run away before I could get info on the horseshoes.

Sol was going down at this time and I needed to find a safe place. But with no guard towers (and with no water in my water skin), I decided to take the main road. I had to fight my way up with a hellhound following me as I went up the road. The fucker wouldn’t go away, so I faced it and now it’s dead. But with no Stamina, I was open to even more pain.
Nearly reaching the top, an Adol troll started following me. With some Stam left, I decided to engage it. Even with my footing having me at an advantage, the troll kept interrupting my repeated attempts to focus (and my Stam bar was turning red quickly).
At 38% health left, I was forced to continue to run up. And I was greeted by a guard tower. Got the guards on the troll, but a hellhound wanted a piece of me (and so did other mobs). My screen is getting more and more red. Finally the troll died and I got the guards on the hellhound (after I managed to kill the weaker mobs to regain some of my health).
With them all dead, I had to deal with another issue; getting my water bar back up. Usually this is no problem, even for a n00b…but there’s no wells either out here. Why is Exo proving to be so inhospitable?
Looking at the map, there was a way down to sea level. Used it. Three trolls awaited me, because why not? Everything else has gone to shit since I came here!
Got a much needed drink of water and filled up my skin, then went back up and set up camp. Great view from my campsite.

Next Solrise, I went around the edge of the hill. Got a bit lost, but thanks to my compass I made it back to roads I remembered. Never leave home without your handy dandy compass, kids! Survival 101.
Went down an angled road into a large valley. Looking at the map, I realized I had to go back the way I came to start going around the edges of the server. Made it there with little trouble. Finally the REAL exploration can begin!
This lead me to the Vyrona statue inside a mountain that I mentioned before. Also saw a completely flooded farm. Apparently the crops were fine with it.
Moving along the coast, I crossed over the “Mt. Tundra Express” bridge. It’s a North/South shot to ‘Union Lake’. Never went down this cave canal, but I did explore its other end by boat (following other canals).

Not really much else as of note, except the mobs were starting to annoy me with the frequency of them. Also, two cave bugs out in the open (both killed by me).
I reached the crazy bridge work I saw. But the way the entrance was set up, it felt like I wasn’t supposed to go up them (as they were just decoration).
Got to the main pier with several passive mobs (chicken/cows/sheep) that I was able to Groom.
Made it on the bridge work. Was pretty cool. Felt like I was riding on the tail of a very long Chinese-type dragon. The other end of the bridges lead to an abandoned horse pen area.
Went across this two tile tile wide landbridge (quite rare to see these days). Then it went to an abandoned multi-tiered deed, and a area of marshland with a named guard tower (where I would make camp). But first I had to clear out several..waves of mobs. I also met my first turtle of the server…., who nearly kicked my ass. Fuck man, never underestimate turtles. They are empowered by the creepy “I like turtles!” kid. However the turtle met its demise when I called the guards. Though I do feel like an ass, as the turtle never engaged first. It was leaving me alone for the most part.
Also had rats, wolves, bears, spiders, anacondas, and several trolls that nearly wiped out all of the guards of the tower. It was the same QL as my tower back home, so the same number of guards.
And when I thought it was all over and I threw down my tent and hitched the horse, I heard rustling in the marsh and my Combat log started flashing again with a vern anaconda attacking. FUUUUUUUUUU!!!
After it’s dead with the help of what was left of the guards, I’m yelling “ENOUGH WITH THE MOBS, GAME!!!” And it was like the game actually heard me and I didn’t have any issues when Sol rose again. Thankful for that.

I also was in a bit of a pickle, as I didn’t know how to get back down (I was on the southern ‘nose’ of the NW side of the server, between two deeds called ‘Udderly Delight’ and ‘Black Keep’ respectively). There was this tree farm, and I needed to go in reverse to get back down. But there was this carved out large area of rock(possibly a canal in construction) keeping me from continuing forward. I also had two trolls (but a nearby guard tower to help out with them), and hellhounds to deal with. It felt like one of those deja vu things.
Finally found a public road leading back down to sea level, around Udderly Delight. Passed by another house that looked nearly like mine back home(a 3×3, while mine’s a 4×3). I noticed it too, didn’t have a forge or an oven.
Perhaps I’ve been thinking this whole redesigning thing wrong. Twice have I been ‘reminded’ that there’s a reason to have another building (for smelting and cooking). Unfortunately I couldn’t get a really good look inside as the deed is well-secured with gates and fences. Still, it really makes me think. On top of it, the second floor balcony, the person has it wrapping around 1/4 of the area.
Also, I didn’t know you could have the ‘wooden canopy’ door on the second floor. That is pretty awesome.

Continuing on, I’m now on the West coast. Had to pass through a medium-sized bay with a shallow enough bottom to allow traversal. Of course the horse didn’t enjoy this and kept getting stuck, but with a little wiggle of the controls, got it moving again. As I went on, I heard the sound of a sheep and a wolf fighting. Decided to run over and assist. But by the time I got there, the sheep was dead. So I got revenge on the wolf. It was only trying to eat dinner, though. But it’s a hostile mob and they all must die painfully in dragon flame.
Anytime I can piss off the mobs that piss me off, I’m going for it.
So I came back, and found myself in a pretty large farm of corn. Nothing but corn.

Soon I had another issue, as I had to go a bit inland to continue along the coast. Saw a troll standing next to a tower guard. Yay! Time to piss off another mob! Called the guards and attempted to assist. Another troll came out of nowhere and smacked me with its club.. and then another. So now there’s three trolls. Maybe pissing them off wasn’t such a good idea.
At the end, the last tower guard fell. The troll turned around and looked like it was saying “run” to me. And so I did…
Fuuuuuck. Been told that people with 70FS even lead trolls to guard towers. But when you got three trolls, the tower guards got overwhelmed as I was too busy dealing with lesser mobs to assist. Swear they’re all working against me. That’s not fun.
Sick and tired of mobs at this point, I continued on hoping I wasn’t going to see another encounter, and I saw a vern spider in the way that I was forced to deal with. SERIOUSLY?!

Since then, it was like the game was giving me a break. I got to take lots of pictures in peace and quiet; finally enjoying myself for the first time since I got here. I say it was a good 15 or so minutes. And then…, I had to jinx myself and think “Haven’t seen a mob in awhile.” And suddenly, they were in my way again. ARGH!!

But before I thought of that, there was another area I had to go a bit inland. Went across a little wooden bridge(was even named “wood bridge”) going over what I assume to be a cave canal. This one quickly lead to an abandoned deed. Going over where all of these slab tiles are, the deed possibly looked pretty good. There was an area with 5 forges. Why you would need that many is beyond me.
There was one structure here, called a “worker shed’. All it was, was a 1×1 of ‘Stone portcullis’ gates. Still, it was a structure that would’ve kept anyone (except the original mayor or a villager) from being able to slap a deed down.
Looking through the post-deed’s belongings (they still had some as if the deed disbanded only a few days ago), I could see they were just starting out. Like three iron pickaxes at 34QL or less. Now I could had taken them due to the whole “deed it or lose it” thing, but I’m not heartless. Plus, why bother when I have a CoC enchanted 70QL pick back home?
They also have horses here, fully pinned. Didn’t bother to see who owns it. I’ve already made up my mind about moving here a long time ago (I’m not).

Continued south, but I would get no further with a deed in my way. Was forced to go further inland. Found an alternate route to get me around the obstacle. Yet to get to it, lead me to another obstacle in the way (in the form of ‘Ancient Gate of Libila’. Passed through it with no issue. On the other side of the gate, I actually saw some hope that Exo was trying to present itself to me with a beautiful road of Linden trees(and Fir behind them), bushes, and hedges on the sides. Really nice. If only all of Exo could be like this, I would reconsider moving here.
Arrived at the deed blocking my further southward travel. The mayor looks like a full-fledged fan of PvP and PvE with all the flags of different kingdoms. The mayor’s name is ‘Wolfikita’. This name will be known as a ‘polite enemy’ to me on Day 5.
Tried to get back to the shoreline. Found a fountain. Even though I was good on water at the time, it felt like hope that Exo isn’t so unfriendly.

I had to go on this flatraised grass wall thing (almost like a floodwall) in order to use a bridge, which lead down to the shore.
Back at sea level once again, I continued along the shore. More mobs showed up, but I just ran by them on the horse. Fuck combat. I’m sick of the interruptions!
Stopped again with a mountain in the way. Guess what I had to do? Yep, had to go back inland to get around it. Nealy to the top, I see a guard tower (and more mobs). *sigh*
Sol is going down for the final time ’till I typically go to bed, so I try to hurry up and look for a good spot to camp. Sure I could had camped infront of the guard tower, but I still had plenty of light for more exploration.
Saw what looked like a deed to the South of me and went for it, and it was another abandoned deed.
Accidentally went back down the mountain, but on a new road. This lead to an area where boats would usually be parked. It was pretty small, and had a nice view of Solset. Thought of just using this as a campsite. Tried to throw my tent down, yet kept getting a “You’re not allowed to put your tent there” message. Usually I only see that if I try to put my tent down on the perimeter of a deed, so it wasn’t making any sense as there were no deeds close enough to cause this issue.. but the message persisted, angering me.
I tried in another place, and it went down. Seems the game assumed I was trying to drop my tent in the ocean (somehow), but whatever. Great view of the coast from the entrance of the tent.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Exodus (Day 3)

As I was saying at the end of Day 2, of ranting about having to get my gear re-imped. Thankfully my armor and weapons aren’t anywhere as damaged as I thought they were. I also met Whiterose, the mayor of Serenity. It’s a good thing too, because I didn’t realize I had logged off in their deed on the horse…
Fortunately, the mayor had the option to lead animals on a deed, enabled, and I’m very thankful for that. I also asked them why was the Del/Exo Boat Bridge landing so…empty. The person had no idea (or even the fact their deed was close to the boat bridge). And I can see why, with how there’s a whole bunch of stuff out in the open.

Anyway, today is Day 1 of going on horseback in Exodus. Had a bit of an issue trying to find the main road. I knew one area I really wanted to check out; ‘The Old Dragon’s Homeland’ which wasn’t too far from here.
Made it to a very CPU-intensive deed called ‘Elysium’. There were more boats than there were people on Local (almost felt like an Impalong). I asked why was there a lot of boats, and I was introduced to ‘Hoppy'(who introduced themself) who told me “if you dont got boats, you aint got hoes”. The person continues saying how “we also dont have hoes”, then says “joe did bitch at me”.
Since I wasn’t going to get a non-moronic answer, I said “I see. Well thanks for your time”. Hoppy then tells me how “ill sell you a brick for 1s”.
One of the other people in Local says “you do realise I can read this, hoppy?” (I assume this is “joe”). Another one says “ooooo”. Hoppy says “im gonna contact a GM to mute me perminialy”.

Then I said “Are all Exo people like this?” Hoppy jumps back at me saying “hey, fuck you” and telling me to leave. Was told by another to “ignore hoppy :p”. And another said “Welcome to exo”.
I continued on my way, trying to not escalate this thing anymore. Made it to ‘The Great Northern Desert’ which looked about the same size as The Grand Steppe back in Indy. Quite cool.
Went westward to a deed called ‘Shiny’. It’s the deed next to one of the -many- open air canals of this server. I would say more than Deli and Indy combined. Trying to follow the roads was a bit of a challenge here, with one saying “I’m going North and East” when it’s not.
Even when I reached Shiny, the roads still weren’t really matching up to the map. But with time, they did. As I went deeper inland, I had to deal with..I would say about 6 wolves (4 of them vern). Unlike last time when I went exploring on horseback on another server, this time I came prepared.
Was this one section of road with this strange fence blocking further access, that went on for awhile. Thankfully it was a low fence, that I simply walked right over it.

After many heading changes, I made it to the dragon’s place. I was actually hoping to see a penned Wurmian dragon here(and then try to break it out). Instead, I see a double fenced-in house with a quite large area for horses to roam around. I would say around 20×20. All the gates were locked. So instead of fencing in a dragon, it’s fencing in a ..house.
My mind started thinking that this may be a Wurmian dragon ‘retirement home’. There were also lots of felled trees on the exterior North side.
I expected this to be on the top of ‘Dragon Point’.. not somewhere that I would personally live. Speaking of the nearby mountain, I saw a quick way up to the peak. Went for it, having to deal with even more wolves biting my heels. As I continued on, I noticed the road wasn’t going straight up (or zig-zagging) like I would typically see. Infact all of this time, I’ve been scaling the mountain and not even realizing it.
The road eventually went up to the summit, and from there it seems there was no way up to the peak. No road or a tunnel, anyway. No ‘hand-holding’ allowed here.
Went around the summit trying to find a way up to the top. It didn’t seem that high up, to be honest. Found a little area where the horse was able to climb up the side and got to the peak! It’s pretty nice and mostly flat. I could see myself slapping down a deed up here. And the view was pretty amazing. No guard tower, so I had to defend myself from a few bears and a few hellhounds.
If there was tar up here, I would had definitely considered moving. Though I believe tar only forms at sea level, sadly.

Knew I couldn’t stay up here forever, as more mobs would eventually spawn in(like trolls). Got off the peak and went down the side of the mountain, heading for a road that looked like it was going through the mountain. Though I didn’t get far when RL butted in the way. I just now got back to type all of this. Waiting for Sol to rise at 8:15pm (around that time).
And it’s also because I had to go eat dinner (and I usually go out to eat on Friday).

…And then the BIGGEST fuck up I’ve ever made in Wurm, happens right after I logged back in. Everything was just too perfect, so someone while I was offline, TOOK THE HORSE FROM ME!!
It was gone when I logged in. I’m freaking out as mobs are starting to close in on my position (with no guard tower in sight), with a wolf attacking first. Then a troll charges after me. I’m forced to run away from the scene of the crime all the way until reaching an unlocked building called “Priesteri”. Forgot once again that trolls can open unlocked doors. They can also go up Openings. Great.
I stood my ground, as the brave Dragon Warrior I was. But at the end…it was like those cartoon-like scenes of the background turning to glass and shattering, and everything was black (like what was left of myself caring for this game).
Respawned in Exert (as that was really my only option), temper as hot as Sol’s surface. Felt like I had lost everything. Couldn’t get back to my boat. Couldn’t get to my corpse. But what infuriated me the most was “2.5s IS GONE!!!” I’ll fucking KILL whoever took it(if I could get my gear)!!

One person was in Local, who asked what was going on. I did my best to explain, holding back my frustration. Someone named ‘Jakerivers’ also entered Local. It came down to both of them competing who would take me back (via large cart) to get my gear and get revenge on the troll that killed me.
Jake got to me first, so I rode with him. He was more interested in learning where the horse was than getting my gear back. I did my best to explain as we rode. After some time, we finally reached where I had died (and the troll that killed me). Though the game assumed I wanted to get revenge without gear, and the troll killed me again….
ERGH!!!
The person was laughing after I told them I died to the same troll. Shocked, I said “I’m sorry, but I don’t see how this is so funny.”, and they’re all “Stuff like this happens to everyone. If you don’t laugh about it, you’ll drive yourself crazy over this game.”
Ok, sure. You’re right. Like that time where I saw Elvenwing in trouble. But when the bottom falls from below my feet, it’s not cool. I like the feeling I’ve just been lucking out all of this time…but my luck has finally ended (and nearly this exploration thing).
Infact this thing I’m told, feels like an insult for saying to laugh over LOSING 2.5s WORTH OF HORSE GEAR!! You have NO. FUCKING. IDEA what I’ve been through with this game! I had a friend, 6 years, leave me because he couldn’t stand my shit anymore, and you tell me TO LAUGH?! D:(
(To say I’ll ‘drive myself crazy’.. it happened years ago)
I was ..this.. close to saying “fuck it”. Just a head’s up, I didn’t say any of this to the person. I just stayed quiet (because I was in PMs to Jakerivers, telling him the troll killed me again).

Jake eventually came back to get me, and went with him once again. Continued to talk in PMs over the situation. We went back up to Dragon Point, looking for the horse. He was sure it was still there and I just… assumed it disappeared(to be honest, I wish it was that easy). But when he saw the proof, he lead me back to where I died (again). This time, there was no troll (as I assume he killed it). I managed to get my gear back and re-equip. At least now I’m not as pissed.
Though that changed as I went out while pulling on my chain gauntlets to make them fit with my fingers, and he dropped off a horse of his infront of me. I stood there, feeling like I’m being insulted with this. You think a replacement horse is going to get me back my 2.5s?! Decided to hop on it, thinking maybe it had enchanted horseshoes on it. And it was only going 17km/h.

That’s when I snapped. After he came back from being AFK for 10 or so minutes (and I had a few more wolves to kill that showed up), I told him to please… just take me back to my boat. I’ve HAD IT!! I’M DONE! FUCK THIS GAME! I’m TIRED of using so much of my real life cash on silver, only to be wasted by greedy assholes charging 50c per 70 WoA item! NO MORE!!!
As he took me back. I remained quiet in Local, then I began to think again and asked Global Kchat of what I felt like would be my last question. And that was, if people actually explore other servers on horseback, even though we can’t bring horses we own cross-server. I just wanted to..know. Am I the only one, in this game, who refuses to follow the masses and grind infront of a forge, to go full-on exploration?

I was told, people do still explore. But it’s pretty much what I already knew; that either you brand them, or tame them. One suggested I take some nails and a hatchet with me and make a 1×1 house. I refuse to stoop that low to the days of being a n00b again.
Another one suggested to use a tent. Told them I have one, but I felt I would be back quickly (and was gone a lot longer than I thought..mainly because dinnertime and Sol rising don’t mix for me).
But one of them (‘Shydow’) asks me if I was near a mailbox. Told them I would be soon(seeing as we’re heading to Serenity). Started to think of the reason, yet I thought “there’s no way. No one would be that kind”.

Meanwhile, we passed through the lag-filled town again. I was too focused on Global Kchat to look at Local. When Jake stopped, I decided to switch over and saw Hoppy saying “are you missing a horse?”. I stayed quiet, just wanting to go back to my boat and fuck everything.
Jake asked “did you find it hoppy?”. I decided to say a depressing “Hey”. The person then said “the ladie next to scorpio found it”. I suddenly perk up saying “Wait, what? Someone found it??” But we moved out of their Local before they got my messages.
We got closer and closer to Serenity, and my mind was now focused on seeing what Skydow mailed me (as I saw the message of “Imps are whispering your name saying you got X items available!”)

Jake took me to my boat, but I hopped out saying I need to go find a mailbox. He found it first and showed me. Checked it, and gasped when I saw brand new horseshoes and a saddle..even BETTER than what I had! 😀 Holy fuck. I was on the verge of giving up, going home and never logging in again. This..this changes that.
I accepted the equipment, saying thanks. Jack asked who sent me them and I told him. Then he tells Global Kchat about possibly having the horse found. I noticed all the sudden, Shydow wasn’t responding. So I said that if I find the horse, I’ll send the items back. I kind of prayed that I would get to keep them for free(and just screw what happened).
But when Shydow said “that sounds great” I felt “mmm…this feels wrong.”

Still, I sent a PM to the person. Jake told me where they live (Elandra, which is North of Dragon Point), and it’s best to go there by boat. And with that, he left me alone with the borrowed (but cared for and branded) horse to do whatever.
I thought for a bit, then thought of just going there and see if the horse is even there. Decided to go there by horseback, and equipped the borrowed horse with Skydow’s lended enchanted equipment. I was even told “don’t lose it” by them.
Hopped on and started making my way there… and I’m not going to lie, but I absolutely L.O.V.E this speed! It’s even fast of going up a 20 slope! HOLY HELL, this is nice! It almost makes me hope I don’t see the horse there and get to keep this sweet equipment! Yet I also know if I don’t ‘come clean’ (as in pretend the horse is gone even though it might still be there in order to keep this stuff) with this, it’s going to bite me in the ass.
Besides, with time (and more money), I’ll be able to legit have this sweet gear.

Eventually I got lost and found myself at a deed to the East of the place. Tried again and found myself at a deed to the West of the place. So I was in the ballpark. Unfortunately that park is completely blocked off by fencing and gates (and hedges).
I tried to get around them (the NW side) and managed to go all the way to the coast, and tried to take a peek. From my limited view, I didn’t see anything that looked like the horse I had. Trying to access the NE side proved impossible with how steep the terrain was. I felt “oh noes! The horse is gone! Well, looks like I get to KEEP this! :D”

I was forced to go alllll the way back and get my boat, in the middle of the night on top of it. I wasted all of that time, over this lost 2.5s. Yes, this new gear is nice.. but it’s also wrong. I didn’t pay for it. I got to be legit here. Because of all what I went though, with so much money being wasted on gear for myself, enchantments for them, clothes for B2 and myself, and now enchanted horse gear… well now you know why I got so peed off of the very thought that I need to re-imp everything. Fuck these microtransations of Wurm, when it’s based off of the unstable Euro that goes up and down like a freakin’ yo-yo(in super slow motion).
Being barely able to see(why I rarely take night pictures), I had to stay close to the shore for guidance.
Took awhile with the lack of wind, but I made it once again to the deed. From here, I was able to get a much better view. And I saw no horse. I can only assume it’s been tamed and logged out with the person. Which means, they now have access to my stuff. That just makes things even more sour.

I pondered for the longest time of what I should do, trying to piece together exactly what happened in my head. But like any jigsaw puzzle, there’s always that one piece that won’t fit no matter how you turn it. And that’s trying to figure out…WHY the person took the horse. There was NOTHING wrong with just leaving it be!
The fact it’s possibly now tamed, I think it’s quite obvious the person saw the horse as ‘first come first serve’ (as Jake told me). In other words, there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll keep the new gear or give it back to Shydow.
With Sol starting to rise, I’ve ultimately decided to use this horse as my new borrowed horse to explore the rest of the server, feeling that once this person responds and is willing to at least give the horse gear back to me, I’ll come and grab it.
As for this rental, unfortunately I do have to give it back once I’m done. Though thankfully the dropoff point is near where my boat is (instead of the other side of the server).

Started sailing back to Serenity, and starting to feel again that this is wrong of using Shydow’s stuff. I should had been charged for it. I should had just left the game and never come back (as this is clearly a game where grinding is the core gameplay). I tried to fight it off as I docked, hopped out of my boat and mounted the horse, knowing how FAST this thing is. This thing is faster than my Knarr with a gale tailwind.
But again, it’s wrong. And I just couldn’t do it anymore. Unlike this asshole that screwed me over, I have morals. And I feel like I absolutely -have- to get my answers of why the horse was taken from me in a mob-infested forest. That was NOT smart, and it’s just going to drive me crazy if I don’t.
I know how to prevent this from happening again (aka use my tent everytime it’s time to log out (even next to a tower), but it won’t erase the feeling that 2.5s was taken from me, due to someone’s greed and my assumption that people aren’t assholes in this game.
I’ve done this dozens of times. WHY NOW it gets stolen?? They could had easily stolen it from me when I was still using my boat to explore (and only used the horse to get me to a guard tower)!

So until I get a response from this immoral person, the exploration thing is on hold. Though I have a feeling the response, won’t be pretty. Plus, it’s obvious I won’t be able to keep Shydow’s horse gear (for being told to not lose it). This is rental gear, which..I should just give back to them (or try somehow to come up with the cost to be able to keep it).
Also, the more I think of the “why”, it’s just so fucking obvious this person left me for dead. It can’t roam with a saddle, so it was clearly stolen. Who the FUCK would just suddenly ‘care’ for the horse to take it from me? Really, brain? They wanted to steal from me, and did it. And apparently it’s perfectly OK on the Freedom Isles!
Can’t butcher a mob when on a deed due to permissions, yet you can steal someone’s horse when they aren’t tamed/branded. ALL ABOARD THE BULLSHIT TRAIN!! TOOT-TOOT!

(I have to confess, I actually laughed at my “bullshit train’ words)
