Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Day 4)

Well, despite the dangerous threat of severe weather later tonight into the morning hours, at least a bit of good news. If I survive to see Wednesday afternoon, I’m going to be reviewing Dishonored 2 soon!! 😀
So excited for that. Anyway, shall we begin with Day 4? I feel it’s going to be quite the busy day before hell comes crashing down. Though, I also feel I might leave the server (possibly either by Day 5 or Day 6) and head to Pristine; the next server on the list.
You may feel I’ll be leaving early, but do remember I was able to get on horseback by Day 2 (which would typically take until the half of Day 3). So this is actually normal.

So let’s get started. Today I’m going to be turning around and heading back to ‘Rolling Dream’ near the west coast, as according to the map there appears to be a possible way up the mountains here. If it still exists (or is blocked off), that’s what I’m going to find out.
And the answer is, yes it still exists! But the top is semi-blocked off by a fairly large castle-like structure. There are bridges going up to an accessible area of the mountain. Though, it seems there’s a bug with horses and the second floor of a structure. Not a surprise. This bug kicks me off the horse. I have to lead it off the floor in order for the horse to behave right.
Finally I was able to get on the mountain. Couldn’t get all the way up to the peak because of the uneven terrain. Pretty awesome view here, but it also felt quite limiting. Next up, I headed back North in order to access Siren’s Call. It took awhile, but I finally got there. However, this mountain range is literally taken over by mobs. I tried to clear them all out, only to be stopped by a troll. Was forced to flee with no guard towers here.

Before ending this part of the day(the next part will likely stop early), I went back to Tap Dance. But this time I went on its west road. And wow, did I see Deli-level beauty here with a three-wide checkerboard road (and trees in the middle)! This lead up to a deed named ‘Blacksmith’; very big deed (and also very laggy). Continued East, as I wanted to check out two tunnels(with one that looks like it might be leading up the mountain here).
Got to one of these tunnels. Really nice, peaceful landscape here. Guard tower nearby incase I need it. Entered the tunnel, seemed quiet, then when I get ready to get to the other side, some unknown jackass dug up the floor and made it now impossible to get to the other end!! On top of that, several mobs are now in my face.
Lured a few of them out, except for a troll who’s literally trolling me by refusing to come out of the mine. Asked how do I lure this asshole out in Global Kchat, thinking there was a guaranteed to always work method. There was not. Sol’s going down, so I tried to go for the other tunnel on its north side. Can’t seem to access it. There is a way to access it’s south side, but I have to take an alternate route around the first tunnel to get there.
Set up camp next to the guard tower that’s on the road. With the limited time I have before the weather starts to get extremely active here, I’ll try to get to the two tunnels and see where they take me.

While watching the radar (and also trying to focus on the task at hand), I made it to the south side of the two tunnels. The shorter tunnel, I don’t even see the other end. All I see is a deed here. Is this the asshole that ruined the tunnel?
Going through the longer tunnel, lots of mobs that I was able to run by. On the other end, not what I had hoped (it was on a hill). I could also see..well, not see why I didn’t find the road here (as grass claimed the road here).
Going North lead me to..how should I best explain this? “F— OFF!! Desert”(with the place dotted with mobs..and how could barely catch my breath before a spider or a hellhound showed up). I was going to head East to another area between mountains, but the weather threats were rapidly changing and I started to get more and more concerned.
Instead, I went up north some more to check out a rather interesting tunnel design on the north coast. Also passed by Draenor. I expected the token’s description to say something like “best expansion ever”, yet it said “Home of the Orcs”.
The way to access these tunnels, was to access a deed called ‘North Star’. Took a ways to reach it, but finding the road leading up to the tunnel system was easy. Inside, a fuckload of mobs! Also most of the tunnels have caved in, forcing me to run by two trolls to access.. a not really helpful place! I had to get off the horse and go down this hill. A bear shows up as I’m going down, yet somehow I was able to be just fast enough that I was able to re-mount when I got down the hill. Was forced to kill the bear as it didn’t leave me no choice (the terrain is very steep).
Fog starts to roll in, getting pretty thick as I found a road leading to what I thought would be an accessible bridge to get me around this terrain. Instead it leads me up to a small (but locked) deed.

Sol has set and it’s night. Fog’s too thick to seek out a better place to set up camp, as the weather is looking worse for me. I wait it out while watching the radar. Finally it fades but somewhat, allowing me to see enough of the shoreline. Quickly throw down camp and focus my attention IRL.
Since I’m still talking here, boy did I luck out. Kept my power, and only one tornado warning (but places north of me). The storms turned into a flash flooding event instead of a tornado threat. Still have the actual cold front to sweep through around 7-9am EST. But with all the rain we got, having this line going severe on me is less likely.
Due to getting so stressed out after all of this weather, I’m calling it a night for Day 4. Tomorrow(Day 5), MUCH much calmer (weather-wise). Also, I’m calling the finale of this server and moving to Pristine. I want to squeeze as much time as I can before Wurm Fall(to make up for that week due to waiting for that axe).

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Day 3)

Day 3 started off rather unusual, and ended up with the first part of..not really going as far as I’d hoped. There was someone in my Local when I logged in, named ‘Sharlee’. We talked a bit, and I asked if anyone was planning to found the area I was at. I also asked where I could find resources in the area. Was told about the Peat, yet the person also says “and tar somewhere but if you have peat no need for tar”.
Explained I needed tar for my lantern. Person said I could put cotton seeds in a Fruit Press and make oil as an alternative (and was told “it burns brighter”..but I bet it also burns quicker). So cotton can be used elsewhere besides healing wounds and making string and rope.
I found where the person was by following a south road towards the two peat areas. Person was duel-welding a wolf. Didn’t know people still duel weld(as I hear it’s quite crappy). She owns this small deed named ‘Peat’s Sake’. Anyway, that..was it for awhile (not really good with small talk). But as I was leaving, I mentioned about people leaving for WU (as a question of why). I said that how you can’t explore new worlds like you can in WO. She said she’s staying here and also likes exploring.

Left again, getting ready to go do my own thing. Suddenly she calls for help of tower guards. I race back to assist with the troll and do so. After it’s dead, she gives me the corpse as a surprise. I take the corpse of the troll out of the deed and drop it. No recipe on this one. She starts asking if I want a rare recipe. I’m thinking “what’s the catch?” and ask how much does she want for it, and says it’s free. That’s cool!
And then, I have to wait for her main (“Sharney”) to get here, and she logs out.
So, I wait, and wait, and wait…and wait some more. While I’m waiting, I take the time to survey the area. There’s a named guard tower (called ‘The Dark Brotherhood G” of the abandoned deed off to the right of the area I wanted to found. This isn’t good, as it means I won’t be able to slap my own guard tower down where it will be useful.
I also found what I think could be a cave canal leading to the south coast. Without my boat, I can’t fully check.
Sol is now starting to go down and I haven’t gone anywhere, and I’m losing my patience. I PM’d her and asked if she’s still coming. She said she is, but that was the only response. No “I’m sorry this is taking so long” or anything else.
Eventually got fed up and left. No amount of recipe is worth this silent treatment! Now heading NE towards the potential hunting area. Going through it, I found a bridge leading to an island on the SE coast of the server. It looked like a bridge in GTA V. It took a bit of effort getting down this hill in order to get on the bridge. On the other side, I entered a deed named “New Port Benden”. And I believe this was Celi’s Impalong site back in 2015 (with a lot of items named “PB Impalong 2015”).
Went north to its docks. Undeeded, so I was able to set up camp here. I feel burned having to wait so long and she never showed up. She could had at least mailed the recipes to me.

Well, no matter. Surely I can make up for the lost time. Unfortunately…it seems I’m starting to lose interest in this server as there’s not enough “WOW” (in my opinion). I guess I got spoiled by Deli, that I expect all other servers to follow the same pattern of pure beauty. And when they don’t, it feels disappointing (and boring).
Maybe it’s just the South coast that’s boring.
There’s also another frustrating thing, and that’s how the map dump’s mountains are hiding the roads infront of them (due to the way Rolf took the dumps). Indy was the same way in 2010, and in 2015 before the new map format came out.
But my luck is going to have to change eventually. At least, I hope it does.

Well, there was definitely a change in the number of people in my Local when I logged in. Took me by complete surprise. Yet most of these people were alts, or alts of friends for one of those priest sconces. Talked to the main guy here, who’s also from Indy. Anyway, from my position was a road leading into a valley of mountains (west of the lake at The Great Plains). Found the road easily. Thankfully there was a guard tower up here as I definitely have been over-using it. I’ve also been repairing my gear as soon as I get done with combat. It’s something I was recommended to do, in order to keep damage up (yet not take too much QL away). Keep forgetting to do it at times, but I’m trying to teach myself not to.
Anyway, there were three lakes here I wanted to check out. The first one, not bad. The second..my jaw dropped to the floor of how small, and traquil it was. It also looks like it has a cave canal, but I can’t really find out without a boat. If it does..holy fuck, this is good. Like my own personal lake. Though I didn’t mark it as a potential, as again I need to know if what I saw is actually a cave canal.
Third lake, it felt too open and too..crowded to even be considered.

I was heading for two more lakes; ones that were sitting on the SW coast yet I didn’t know how to access them by boat. After navigating many roads in deep forests, I got close to the main crater lake. Entered an area that was infested with cave bugs..including their big mamma; Aged champion cave bug. And I kicked her creepy face. That makes two champ mobs I’ve killed so far(just on this server). Wow, the hunting is fantastic on this server (that is if I wasn’t so “F— OFF!!!” to mobs).
Anyway I made it to the crater lake. Was nice, but all around the side of the lake was too steep to be considered a potential. Was another lake behind this, but I had to play with a few trolls to get by it. One ven troll as I was trying to lead it to a guard tower around the cave bugs, was just taking its sweet time casually walking over to me. Typical troll, trolling me. 😛
Holy fuck, so many spiders trying to get to the second lake!! The sides of the lake -looked- flat enough to be considered, but when I got there, it was the same as the crater lake. On top of that, Solset happens. I’m forced to dig a 2×1 section and flatten it out just to allow the tent to be placed…only for the BS to happen again.
SERIOUSLY…FIX this vague “you are not allowed to put your tent here” crap! Explain it better!
I bitched about it to Global Kchat, and CA HELP. Though I never checked the second as I assumed the answer would be “you’ll have to talk to the devs about that”. Global Kchat was shockingly helpful, but sadly they couldn’t help me as the bullshit persisted no matter all the suggestions I tried. I was forced to stay the night. On top of that, I was having bio issues IRL.
To log off and deal with it, I would run the risk of having my horse stolen (again). To stay on and deal with it, I would run the risk of coming under attack and not being able to help my player character. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. Thankfully the feeling went away for the time, just intime as Solrise happened.

Next, I wanted to check out more of those strange islands just off the coast (that I was stuck in a fog bank while in my boat). Had to navigate around the coast to get there. On the way, was an ‘Aged champion wild chat’. DUDE.. seeing this many un-penned champ mobs is unnerving, but seeing that the wild cat (that nearly looks like a typical housecat) have their own champ version?? Wow. So that makes it 3 champ mobs I’ve killed!
Finally made it to the islands. First island, I’ve dubbed “Bearshark Island” (due to all the bearsharks patrolling the island). This island is also close to this strange structure with four pillars(several 1×1’s stacked up), and a very tall central pillar.
The second pillar, this is where things got a bit funny (and also extremely annoying). The mobs here, where playing King of The Hill with me (of this small flatraised 1×1), and they were winning..especially when a troll spawned behind me and nearly made me shit my pants. Guard tower here, yet I failed in trying to direct the guards to pick specific targets (telling them to kill a spider that wasn’t even after me, when a hell hound was).
After all of that chaos, it ended by killing my first hell scorp. I wanted to kiss my new toy after that, as that wasn’t possible before. So after that, there was this interesting tunnel I wanted to check out to the North. See, I AM finding cool stuff to explore! That, and to get my mind off of a potentially bad thing IRL (that will mess with exploration) I’ll explain at the closing of Day 3.
There was a deed in the way of reaching a bridge. I was forced to swim around it. The irony of this place is the arch bridge is named “The Most Useless Bridge Ever Built”.
Useless bridge? Nah. How about useless deed?!
I finally got to the bridge. Turned around and….my rented horse wasn’t behind me. Annoyed, I was forced to swim back and found the stupid thing trying to get around one of the walls..DUURRR I’m a HORSE!! I can’t get around walls! DURRR!!
With the horse in tow, I got back to the bridge and continued north. Infront of me where a bunch of farm animals all ready to be groomed, with a troll next to an incline ahead of me. Of COURSE there would be a troll there. Kicked on it and outran the troll. Guard tower near me. Was getting ready to head back, and another troll comes out of nowhere. When you think it’s safe, a troll’s club is about to mash your face in!
Both trolls now dead. One of them dropped a supreme recipe!! NICE! 😀

Finally reached the tunnel, yet it seems most of the routes were blocked off by cave-ins except one, which lead me out to a confusing place. Did find my way back to the coast. I’m now heading to an oddly-placed large island on the West coast. Well, I will once Sol rises again.
Reached the island. There are three deeds named from towns in Skyrim here (Yorikstead, Kynesgrove, and Dawnstar), but two of them are disbanded (with one completely gone except for one last structure). Tried to also access the island’s core and see the lava, but it’s not there anymore.
Yorikstead is the most interesting. It’s disbanded and falling apart, but it seems they didn’t really care what happened to their belongings. Clearly, looters got to the area way before I showed up. But there were still a few things I could grab, such as signs. And if I had my large cart with me, I could grab their spinning wheel.
Left the island and headed East toward a deed named Serenity Harbor. Killed several alert lava spiders when I neared the place. Here, they have nearly every door open to the public; it’s like a museum (“look but don’t touch our stuff”). Was pretty cool.
Continued heading East. Started to hear thunder IRL. Entered a completely decayed deed (that was once named “Felucca”). This, with another abandoned deed next to it, used to be a ‘mega-deed’. Place still has a guard tower, and I’m using it to sign out of Day 3.

So that ends Day 3! Started off boring, and got more interesting. Tomorrow… tomorrow, well, it’s something I need to discuss with you guys. At once it was making me sick to my stomach. Tomorrow afternoon, will be fine. Tomorrow evening..not so much.
See, an even more powerful cold front is supposed to generate not one, but two rounds of severe weather for us. What’s scary about it, is it’ll happen during the overnight and morning hours of Wednesday (tomorrow) morning. This means I’ll be ending Day 4 earlier than normal.
But this is still 24 hours out and could change(but I doubt by much at this point), so the weathermen still need time to be able to finally dial in exactly when the storms move in. One model shows it’ll start in the night around 10pm EST(while another shows it starting at 3am EST Wednesday morning), but still shows a second powerful line pushing in by 8 in the morning.
Again, it could change. But if it continues to show these powerful lines pushing through the morning hours, I’ve already vowed to stay up all night and morning to stay weather-aware (and ready to take the proper precautions if the worst happens). Yes, it’ll ruin my health, but a tornado killing me in my sleep would be a lot worse. I don’t have a weather radio (for good reason, as I will have a mini-heart attack everytime I hear the alert go off…much like the tornado sirens going off).
Tornado risk will be higher than last Friday, due to more favorable conditions. Though a ‘March 2nd 2012 scenario’ seems very unlikely (thank God!), multiple warnings (some tornadic) cannot be ruled out. Main threat is large hail and damaging straight-line winds. Even if we don’t see a tornado, power outages could be possible.
Personally, I ‘think’ I’ll be OK through this(at least it’s not a Moderate risk), but a threat of tornadoes always makes me uneasy and unable to think straight.

So I just wanted to let you guys know that Day 4 will likely end early. There’s a chance I might restart later on, but it depends if I still have power (or even a house). There won’t be a “Part X” or so of this.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Day 2)

It is said…well, I said, that every server has a theme. Deli has beauty(due to rich people living there), Exo has pillars, and Celi has..fog. Lots of fog. Infact, it seems every time I log in, it’s getting foggy to the point where it’s annoying.
Today was no exception, as it was getting foggy when I logged in. Though thankfully it didn’t last long.

I also finally made my way to ‘Tap Dance’. It’s a lot bigger (and nicer) than Esert, and even bigger than Green Dog. It even has a sizable market with several merchants. This is promising. The main spawning area is also pretty nice. It’s similar to Esert with its rolling hills, but it also has a hedge maze and a small park. And at the end of that maze, let’s say it’s not cheese– it’s an old champ spider….which was coming towards me. This is the second non-caged champ mob I’ve seen since the era of Gold 2(the first was an old champ troll near a guard tower).
I couldn’t fight it; everything was red in the manual combat area. Though thankfully someone had just entered my Local and was able to assist me (after leading the big thing to the token where five spirit guards did battle with it).
That was…fun. But technically I got to battle my first champ mob!

Didn’t have another fog issue until I passed the ‘Sio Canal’ on the way back to the ocean coast. Got bad to a point I was forced to moor and wait it out. Took awhile until it burned away somewhat. Finally made it out of the very large interior and back following the server.
Heading back to the boat bridge, and the fog starts up again..this time much thicker. On top of it, Sol’s going down. Had to moor again and try to wait it out, but with Sol getting lower and lower, I just went for it. Good thing I did, as somehow the fog quickly burned away.

Now back at the boat bridge. Had to kill some spiders and a few wolves to secure the area. The 1×1’s aren’t really going to work for me (as both ends have gates. One opens while the other closes). So this marks a record of getting around the entire server in 1 & 1/2 days! Though this is mainly due to a major lack of lakes compared to Exo.
The server feels very streamlined and welcoming. I like it. I’m also starting to get fond feelings for the community; they seem pretty cool, and more active than Exo.
Now in order to explore by horseback, I’ve saved the map to my computer and using it there (in order to be able to zoom in better).
As soon as Sol rises again, I shall start exploring the shoreline by horseback. And like all times, I’m going to be going counter-clockwise. I also wish I had a mod or something that I could equip and unequip my huge axe with a keybind (as it’s size is going to be a pain in the ass when trying to get good screenshots).

Now going on horseback, there came to a point where I said “instead of going around the coast, let’s just re-visit areas I found interesting as I was going around the server (and see what happens on the way there)?” As the old saying goes, the journey is where the most fun happens.
This mainly came from nearly dying to a troll (had 14% health left at one time). Heard it laughing at me as I was forced to run away. I made it regret that later on after chopping its head off execution-style. NO ONE…laughs at me and lives. 😛

By doing this alternate way of exploring the server by horseback, I saw some pretty cool things (including killing my first champ mob(venerable champion black wolf)!!). I also saw more roads not the way they are on the map (always annoying). I also went across the ‘Northmere Bridge’ (and an adol troll nearly killed me there as well). So yeah, me wearing Plate. Was told that it has high protection…clearly not against trolls. Wurm’s combat/defense system makes me cry inside(for not explaining itself better, and NOT having people tell me “PLATE is better than Chain!!!”).
Went around Northmere Lake, following the orange road on the map. One time there was this troll guarding a bunch of bulls. Looked like straight out of Skyrim (with the Troll being a Giant and the Bulls being Mammoths). But instead of killing the mammoths, I was grooming them.
Now camped infront of a tall pointy mountain (that I dub ‘Wolf Fang Peak’..thought I was going to use “dragon” again, huh?). Said mountain has a spread of mobs on it, including a couple of trolls. Now I feel like I’m going to be screwed as soon as I log in, as the guards and myself managed to kill one troll(with all the guards dead), but there is still one more on the mountain (and two more further South of me that could easily migrate up to me).
Not really a safe place to set up camp, but my choices were pretty limited at that time. Lastly, there is a deed I actually want to set fire to; named “Draenor”… it. MUST. BUUUURRRRRRNNNNN!!! D:( Probably created by Blizzard employees. All the more reason to set it ablaze!

Came back on at the next Solrise, expecting to immediately be attacked by trolls. Nothing happened. REALLY lucked out here! My destination is to head back to the “if I didn’t have other servers to explore, this will be my new server” area(for that will be where I end Day 2).
Stopped short of a canal that wasn’t on the map. Wow. First roads not being on the map…now canals? Map updater, update the map dump FFS!!
1/4 the way there, a random mine full of light next to the road, caught my eye. Like a moth to a flame, I went in to check it out. Three mobs ambushed me (Goblin, a Cave Bug, and an Anaconda), as part of their evil plan. Too bad their plan failed. Two more cave bugs in the mine (probably shocked their plan failed) also died.
Right after that fun time, I made it back to Tap Dance (wasn’t expecting to arrive so quickly). Rode over ‘The Jenn Kellen Bridge'(a beautiful long wooden bridge with a really high center to allow Caravels to pass through(view is spectacular)). On the other side was a large island, with a sign pointing to the other side of a potential new bridge (infact there was quite a few of these appendages sticking out, one even raised up as if it once had a bridge attached to it).
The island is pretty cool. Originally thought it was part of Tap Dance, but it seems like it’s own thing. Saw a sign here saying “Beware Jpeg”; more of this silly “Plingplong” stuff I saw at last year’s Impalong. I really wish I knew how this thing got started. Going to assume it’s an inside joke that happened in Global Kchat.

Made it to ‘The Great Plains’. It looks, and feels bigger than the Grand Steppe back in Indy. Pretty cool. Even more so, as I was kind of on the side of a mountain. To the left, pretty awesome view. Infront of me, open road for as far as the eye could see(at least the game’s maximum draw distance). Georgous. All I can say. Well done, Celi!
At the end of this desert road, Celi had even more to show me. And that was scaling up the side of a mountain in order to reach my destination. Though several mobs weren’t going to make my journey safe. Guard tower nearby helped to cull the population that was following me.
Looking over the side..breathtaking. Love these really high points. Got a bit lost up here(trying to follow the outdated map dump), but with the help of my compass I found my way back to the shoreline.
Soon I was on the ‘Stigg=Amish Highway’, closing in on my location. Did a few turns, and went through a pretty nice pine/maple forest. Nearly there, I saw a named horse in the woods on the left. No saddle or horseshoes, belongs to a deed named ‘Jubilee’ and being taken care of by someone named ‘Tayomi’. Since I was in such a secluded location, I wasn’t sure if I should report the horse being found by me (if someone’s looking for it). Plus, they can easily locate the animal if they’re looking for it.
Finally made it back to the area. Had to secure it before dropping down my tent. Also killed a cow(for failing three times to be groomed..obviously “bugged”).

And that wraps up Day 2! Tomorrow, I’m going to go resource-hunting (to see what resources are around this area, and if they’re easily accessible). I know for a fact there’s a typical 2×3 area of Tar to the NW as I was approaching. A large cart with two 5-speeds (or even when I’m good enough..two hell horses), and that won’t be a problem. There’s also two large patches of Peat to the South.
The two canals just to the NW, and the East leading out to the East coast of the server, will serve perfect (if I actually choose to start moving my belongings over). Though one other question remains…what would I name the new area if I was going to found it? I like the name “Oceanside Retreat” as it didn’t have ‘dragon'(or anything else silly) in it. It would need a proper name.
I also think I’m going to try to scale one of these mountains. Looking closely at the map dump, only a few of the many mountains on this server, look like they have a road leading up to them. Maybe I could ask the locals first if they know of any scaleable mountains.

Thoughts before Day 2 of Celi(Wurm/Minecraft/PAX East)

So I thought I do something different new while waiting for the ‘official’ start of Day 2 to begin. I feel, as of now, neutral to the server community. It’s hard to tell if they seem nice or are a bunch of elitist jerks. I do know that they actually enjoy the quiet, being a low-population server. To me, low-population server = dying server. That doesn’t seem to be the case, and that’s comforting.

Another thing to note, is direwolf20 has convinced me (in his own way) that getting into Blood Magic is worth it. Here I was focusing on armor, yet I wasn’t seeing the whole picture. Eventually getting to the tier where I will eventually be able to do rituals, will actually do a lot more than giving me infinite LP. It will also give me virtually-infinite mob drops (bones/gunpowder… things like this). And these mob drops can be used for other things (like the TNT Generator that can produce more power than a single generator from Draconic Evolution).
However, the TNT Generator is very loud(as you know..explosions). So if I was to go that route, I would need to have it pretty deep below ground (mainly where I won’t hear it..even with a Sound Muffler, it’s loud).

In the following weeks, I assume dire (while he’s also at PAX East) will soon get into that huge energy storage device from Draconic Evolution(similar to the energy sphere, but doesn’t cause a large nuclear explosion if the player fails to keep it stabilized). I believe he’s also, finally.. getting into Extreme Reactors (as he mentioned he’s going to “need a lot of power”(since he’s also getting into RFTools Dimensions)). I hope he also has a turbine, and uses ComputerCraft to automate both.

So, yeah. Last, I actually wish I could go to PAX East and say hey to dire (not to mention speak to devs of future games). Would be awesome. 🙂
And that’s it. Currently waiting for Sol to rise.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Day 1)

Day 1 should be the impresser of all the days when it comes to initially exploring a new server, and wow did I get one! Right ahead of me as I followed the boat bridge, was a guard tower. Next to it was a 1×1 unlocked building, which will serve as a temp base of operations.
Two hellhounds where near this building. Got close in my boat, hopped out and then quickly hopped back in to lure them over to me. Except they wanted to fight me where they will win and I can’t hit them. Got the guards on them, and a few spiders I saw on a hill infront of me. Yet the mobs weren’t done, sending in a mountain lion and an anaconda after me. Lopped off both of their heads with my new toy.
So that’s 5 mobs total. Nice welcome! Passing that, the only non-mob related thing that I’ve seen so far is a large Yin-Yang symbol under the water at the end of a bay.
I’ve also learned what’s been going on with people abandoning their deeds, and it’s plainfully obvious; they’re leaving for Wurm Unlimited (or their friends are, which makes them go).
And wow, I can see the difference. There’s another map for Celebration, but its last update was last year. Flipping between the current map, and the past..half of the deeds that were on the server, are gone. That’s insane.
What’s so special about WU anyway? You can’t explore other servers(unless the server owner allows it). You’re still doing the same thing you did in Wurm Online. However, you can bend the rules in WU by removing upkeep of deeds. Mmmmm… once I (eventually) get to and explore all of Xanadu (which will likely take up to a month due to it being twice as big as Indy) and go over my options, I’ll go over if WU if going be the ultimate decider.

One thing to note, is I managed to find an Old horse near’ish to the ocean in a desert on the East coast. Two scorps were around it; assumed both of them were wondering who eats the horse when it eventually dies. Tried to go as fast as I can to lead the horse and get away from the hungry man-eating scorps. Finally was able to outrun them, and got the horse to my boat and away from the area. A bit later I found a place to tame the horse. Two tries and I had it, then equipped my WoA gear and tried it out. Same results back home! 😀
Though, I actually can’t wait ’till I can tame (and ride) hell horses. Not only do they look pretty badass, they’re faster than a standard horse. I’ve also heard that Unicorns can now be ridden.
Oh yes.. another thing of mention. I’m actually well, well ahead in going around the server by boat. I’m now on the SW coast, and it’s still Day 1. Nice. Because I got 11 days until Wurm Fall happens.

So right now I’m up on a hill, chilling out next to a guard tower (with camp setup). My huge axe is still thirsty after burying its blade in the head of a cave bug, that tried to ambush me. Two hits, and it’s dead. Dude.. those little fuckers used to be such a pain in the ass back in 2010 (and beyond). And now, it’s like..they’re nothing. And that’s because they were nerfed for being so hard to kill due to their size.
I love being a Dragon Warrior. I feel, stronger with this axe. 🙂

Next morning, fog is rolling in. It’s such a stubborn fog; thickening up, then thinning out..then thickening up again. At one time it was so thick that I was forced to moor with limited visibility. Suddenly it starts to storm, and this burns away the fog. Thank you, rain!! 😀
There was one other thing that was not boring, and that’s after picking up my tent a second time after finding another place to rest. I’m seeing a new message, about the lock “about to rust away” and “it should be replaced”. My rage against Wurm goes through the roof, swearing they’re doing this to delay me. What made me even more furious is that I was lied to. The tent itself is supposed to be taking damage when the horse is hitched to it. Instead, the lock that was originally attached is doing the damage!
I begged in Global Kchat for someone to please make me a lock, so I wouldn’t be forced to go back home just to make a stupid lock. With no response, I took my attention to CA HELP and asking them if this is just a bug..or ‘working as intended’. And, it’s a bug; a very much known bug. But really, it doesn’t matter with it being a bug or not..the FUCKING THING IS PISSING ME OFF AND I WANT IT FIXED NOW!! *rageface*
I never said the latter of that. Someone did come to my rescue, giving me a 95QL lock and its key (after I eventually found a mailbox). The person also claims this bug only affects the lock that is automatically created when the tent is made; telling me the bug shouldn’t affect me anymore. THAT…that’s great. Glad to hear that.

The rest of the journey wasn’t that interesting. Hell, I nearly fell asleep a few times due to how bored I was. That was..until I found possibly -the- best spot I’ve ever seen since I started exploring other servers. It’s on the Southwest side of a lake, that’s South of ‘Deadnoob Sea'(interesting title for a body of water).
It was in a quiet nook of the lake, flat as a pancake. And it even had a mini-canal going into the area (with a circular section at the end to turn your boat around). DUDE…so cool.
I just..had to mark it as a potential. This area is going on the top of the list, once it’s time to pick a place to move. It’s going to be hard to see anywhere else able to trump this gem. Also, I’ve scratched Xanadu off the list (due to its massive size and issues caused by it). Will still explore it, though.

And that’s basically the end of Day 1. Currently next to a guard tower, that’s next to a deed called ‘Whitewolf Watch'(directly Southeast from ‘Top Dance’, the spawn deed). I could have two more hours, but I just feel tired, and not really in the mood. I’ll restart as soon as I can tomorrow.
Do let me know what you think of this new format of cutting out the boring crap. Is it still too long to read, or is it better?

Going over my old Wurm posts before setting sail

Can you believe June of next year, will be 10 years since I started this blog (hell..when I started blogging)? That is amazing, and what is even more amazing is how my writing (and attitude) has changed from then; from using “alot” instead of “a lot”, and “probely” instead of “probably”.
And how I can’t forget the way I did sentences..what a mess that was.

It’s good to look at your past deeds (such as one’s past videos) and see how you’ve improved over the years. One thing has been reading all of my old Wurm entries, being frustrated no one would help me with what I needed to do(and constantly needing angry to help). Mainly because back then, ‘Dragonhead’ didn’t have the skills he does now.
Though I am thankful I do have access to more human resources (such as Global Kchat) than I did back then. I’m also thankful Ivan took myself in (and lives near where my old deed was). Without him, I would’ve had to pay someone to fix the main ramp of my deed. Though with enough time, I would had probably fixed it myself.

Angry had also changed..but (I assume) for much, much better than my current sad life is right now. I bet he has a girlfriend(or wife) now, probably has moved out of his mother’s house, and has a good job. So if he’s reading this, I wish him the best of luck. Though, I do know one thing about angry; that he’s been playing Wurm Unlimited.
I also wonder what happened to Beel, Yeosh, and others that have been friends with me and then left over the years. Maybe they too have been playing Wurm Unlimited.

Honestly, I don’t know what keeps me playing this game, except for exploring new places. I keep talking about quitting everytime things don’t go the way I plan them to be, blaming the game instead of myself. Yet there’s also something else about Wurm that keeps me coming back. Is it the community? I wish I knew.
Anyway, just something I wanted to share with you guys before I prepare to leave for the next server.

Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Pre-plan)

What is considered “halfway”? A glass of OJ half full? A day half-done? Well I know of two other things that have reached halfway, and they both have to do with this.
Mid-Summer in Wurm, and half of all the servers have been explored.
Due to wasting a week because of waiting for the axe to be made, there’s no time to lose. Next server on the list to explore, is Celebration.

This time, however.. I came prepared. I looked up the latest map on the Wurm forum, so now I don’t have to look like a nOOb for asking. And going by the map, it feels like if Indy and Deli had a baby, this would be it.
It also looks like, navigating by boat should take about three days as before. Hopefully I don’t take an additional 6 days to explore by horseback(as I did with Exo).
Sadly it’s not interactive as Exo’s map was, but on the plus side it’s regularly updated (though that’s the deeds and the main roads. The map dump could be from last year).

Before I begin(in the afternoon), some of you have suggested to create a new blog post for this as these things are getting too spammy, or even instead of typing my adventures in a blog post..to do them in a video. Said video would also need to be edited, and do you guys really wanna hear my cursed childish voice…? I personally wouldn’t.

Got the axe…but is there a flaw in my plan?

Been in talks with my new contact. Last night he asked me if I really wanted Animal’s Demise or Human’s Demise. He said HD is actually better to deal with trolls, even though I told him that HD is mainly for PvP.
Went with AD anyway, and got the 15s bad boy in the mail today. It was slightly damaged (the guy said he’d been using the axe and forgot to repair it before sending it to me). But it’s no problem.

However, there’s another. And that’s weight. It’s something I should had noticed weeks ago when adding more weight to my inventory, makes the horse slower. This new huge axe, and my plate set..weigh a lot. My 5-speed that I got for free, normal 70QL horse shoes? Not going to work. I had to use the WoA horse gear. Even with this, sometimes he slows down to 20-22km/h.
This, is NOT…GOOD. Why is it not good? Wild horses don’t have the ‘strong back’ trait, which will make them ridiculously slow even with WoA horse gear.

I can feel the game laughing at me, and nagging me every time I see the horse slow down. I try to ignore it, but it just keeps up. I hear “HA-HA!! Now you’re going to have to join a deed to get a 5-speed with good traits!! :D”
On top of that, I have to get up to at least 20-30 in Huge axe skill in order to be able to attack the face. So no troll-killing until then. I am able to kill mobs in three hits, though.

…Dunno what I’m going to do about the future of my exploration thing. The whole point, was to NOT HAVE TO FUCKING RELY on people!! I want to go alone, hence “solo exploration’. But Wurm is an ‘MMO’ (even though it’s Survival Multiplayer).
Guess I should re-add Wurm to be another “X is not for you” game. I refuse to depend on others. I don’t CARE if they might be willing to help me. It feels wrong! Go solo or go home!! And it looks like I’m “going home”… 😛
Love the axe. It’s great. I can kill mobs in three hits (even though I got to get my huge axe skill between 20-30 to be able to attack the uppercenter). But the weight, is just too much.
I could try wearing Chain to try to lessen the weight, but I won’t be as protected. I could try to get higher casts of my WoA gear, but that would also feel like a waste of silver (since my own horse drops down to 20km/s at times).

So, say I just..simply asked in that server’s kchat “Hey, does anyone got a good 5-speed I could barrow? I’ll bring it back.” Here’s the risks, that are involved in that;
A) “There are wild horses around.”
B) No one to be online at the time that will give me one/refuse to give me one without payment because they’re fucking greedy.
C) “Sure, I have one”, I go to their deed and get told “I lied, that’ll be 5s.”

Face it, readers. There are no guarantees the community will be nice on every server I visit. There was Deli, and Exo was nice (after I had my horse taken from me).
THIS is why I hate depending on others! I hate this forced “you must be engaging with the community to get what you want” shit. It’s not a thing I can pay once and the problem is taken care of (when you can’t take a horse cross-server).

At this point, I want to blame everyone and everything else instead of myself for refusing to be a ‘team player’.

.
And now, for some good news. Yes, GOOD news! This, is NOT the end of the world! Infact, the “flaw” was forgetting something else.
But before that, I needed to get my huge axe skill up to a level where I can attack the head, and it came as soon as I hit around 8-9 in the skill. Tried to challenge my first troll with the axe, and almost died. Even almost died to a hellhound. So I grinded on wolves/bears, and spiders. When I had it up to 14’ish, a Adol troll engaged me..and died at my feet. First troll’s life taken by the mob decapitator. 🙂
In total I killed four trolls. Would had been five, but I’ll get to that a bit later.

So I wanted to do a few weight tests. I felt, there has to be another way around having to ask. Though I still had to ask, but to know the whereabouts of some wild horses. Someone said they found some to the NE in the ‘North East Praires’. I’ve never actually been there, so it would be a bit of an adventure. Had to wait for Sol rise, then grabbed my 5-speed and my boat and sailed as close as I could there, following the northern coast.
Parked infront of a series of switchbacks going up to what I assumed to be the way up to the main East/West road going to the Tundra biome. Instead I got lost. Mobs knew this and attempted to get me. Their blood is now coating my axe (including a crock).
Managed to get my bearings of returning back to my boat, and was able to get to the main road.
Started following it Eastbound. Another troll shows up. Seeing how I was on a hill, I decide to engage. Yet the troll wasn’t dropping like others. Thankfully I was near a tower. Unthankfully, server lag happens…NOT GOOD!!
Forced to run away, while lagging in hopes I won’t show up dead. I’m also near a pretty sizable deed. A few minutes later after the server finally catches up to me, I race back to finish off what I started. Yet when I tried to attack, I’m being told “that would be illegal here”… wat. H— HOW and WHY would you prohibit the killing of hostile animals?! The irony is there’s a sign on the road that claims the area is protected. Yeah, protected from anyone wanting to do anything!
Managed to kill a few lesser mobs to get my health back up. Eventually made it to the Tundra biome.

Started searching for a horse, and I’m only seeing hell horses. Perhaps the guy mistook what I said about looking for a wild horse (and not a hell horse). Continued to search, seeing Sol making its downward arc. During Solset, I finally found an Old horse after nearly a half an hour of searching. Lead the horse and made my way back to my boat with absolutely no issues.
On the way back home, in the dark, I decided to engage my first shark swimming just off the coast. Like bearsharks, it’s quite tricky with my boat moving. But I can’t anchor it incase I’m forced to run away. The thing actually attempted to ram my boat before dying. Boat suffered no real damage.

Made it back home safely, and quickly began the tests by branding the horse (in order to be able to access its equipment). Got the WoA horse gear off and on the new horse.
First test, is my Chain set with the axe. After doing everything I could think of (inclines and sustaining speed), I’m pleased to report the test PASSED! 😀
Test 2: Plate armor and the axe. This was the decider for me. Did the tests. Slightly slower speed (1km/s slower), yet..it too PASSED!!
As I was heading back from my sustaining speed tests (yet getting lost a bit), someone named ‘Aramisii’ entered my Local. I asked them if they were exploring the area, and was told “Did some imping over at Death bay”. I welcomed them to my “neck of the server”.
Then the person asks if I want any imping done on my forge and my guard tower. I pause for a bit, curious where this person came from and..why stop by my deed?
Finally back near my deed, I decide to ask how much they want for their services (and how high of a QL they can do). Was told they can get my forge and guard tower both at 80QL for 1s, and then gives me a link to their thread on the Wurm forum.
I got down to my docks, and see the person swimming. I’m starting to wonder if this person is trying to trick me to take all of my stuff in my deed.. or if this person is a lost newbie that got dropped off.
Decided to accept their offer, and gave them the necessary perms. Not one problem from imping what I asked for, and I paid them. Then the person asks if I need anything else to let them know, and heads back down to the docks…and swims away. The person has a boat, but is invisible to me. Before they left, I asked the person where they lived. Said the Release server.

I’m still scratching my head. Who…WHAT?! What..just happened?! Person I’ve never seen before, enters my Local and offers to imp my forge and guard tower. W..why here? I never even ASKED to have my stuff imped! I mean, I definitely appreciate the help, but…at the same time, why here? Is this person visiting random deeds like a typical salesman and offering their services?
And their “boat”. Again, completely ..not there from my POV. That…, this whole thing was a “WTF” and a half!
Anyway, this is..cool! My forge is now 80QL, and I now have more guards! Unfortunately they weren’t able to get either to Rare status. And also, it seems my 5-speed’s barding(it’s quite obvious with the thing weighing 15.00) caused me to assume the Plate + huge axe was too much for the horse (even with WoA horse armor).

This means, tomorrow I’m restarting my exploration thing. Next server, is Celebration!

Mass Effect: Andromeda (Gameplay video breakdown #2)

Gameplay video #2 has just been released of Mass Effect: Andromeda. This one covers Profiles, and Squad abilities. More videos are coming, which will cover one of my favorite topics in a video game; exploration.
Click here to watch the second video.

I’ll be honest with you, though. The more I watch these videos of combat, the more I feel.. this game is going to get mixed reviews once it’s released on March 21st. It feels like “there’s no limits– do what the fuck you want.” That’s awesome, but it also gives a “fuck you” to veteran players of the series. Of course, this is to be expected….because EA is publishing it. :/
The ONLY thing that seems to have any sort of limit, well.. I’ll explain a bit later in this post.

First off, the guy recaps of what video 1 explained and shown. Now to go over the video;
Players will have access to “hundreds of skills”, and “over 300 skill upgrades”. Players are free to pick any skill without being limited to a class..hence what I said in the beginning of this post. Why even have classes if you’re going to be able to have any ability available to you? That will ruin replayability.

Next, Profiles are mentioned. Players will gain ‘profiles’ as they level up their Pathfinder. There are seven types of profiles.
To me, you should see these being similar to the way Mass Effect 2 did it. Each one of them can empower the three skill trees differently (which does give feeling of trying different things). The more the player becomes proficient in their skills, the higher tier upgrades they’ll unlock of that specific profile. Yet the player is allowed to switch profiles on the fly.

And here’s the only ‘good’ part I’ve heard. ‘Favorites’. Players can map three specific sets of skills to one favorite. There are four, which gives players access to 12 skills in a single fight. When a player switches to another favorite, they cannot switch to another as there’s a cooldown (thank goodness). Though not mentioned, it’s to be assumed this cooldown’s time can be reduced with upgrades (as he says “by default”).

Last, is squad abilities. The player can have a maximum of six squadmates (but like the previous games, only two can assist you). Each squadmate has three ‘active’ and two ‘passive’ skills.
Squadmates do what you expect them to do; defend a position, attack a target, or follow the player, but they have a new ability called a ‘Power Combo’. Either one of the player’s squadmates (or the player itself) can ‘prime’ an enemy and set them up for this devastating ability (by one of the player’s squadmates jumps in to finish the job). I’m really a fan of this.
However, the sudden warp to kill, I’m not really a fan.

.
And so, there you go. Video 2 of 2. What were you favorite things? Do you feel like this game is going to be awesome? Has this convinced you to want to buy the game, or say no? Let me know!

…Finally getting the Axe / Getting burned out of modded Minecraft

…Finally getting the Axe
Holy hell. It’s been 5 days and I still haven’t gotten the huge axe (or even had it made). And my contact…still blown away by the level of wtf.
So since Saturday of the day I made a PM to ‘coldpain’, my contact, I waited 48 hours for a response. Finally he did, but instead of a “sure, I’ll do it” response, it was “come check out my shop” response, linking me to the old thread.
Though instead of checking to see if it was the same thread, I told him how that thread hasn’t been updated since 2015 and posting would be consider a necro and stuff….yet it wasn’t the same thread; it was brand new and just recently got posted.
Tried to respond before the guy did..and failed. Explained what I looked for and that was the only thread I found.

I’m a bit annoyed that searching didn’t give me THIS thread instead of the dead one (could’ve avoided having to PM him altogether). After some time, I went on and posted my request. I did see a huge axe I wanted, but also asked for Mind Steal.
Going by the number of responses, I was pretty sure I would have it made sometime tomorrow morning, and it would be waiting in my mailbox. At least, that would’ve happen if the guy actually responded in this thread of his stating it’s done!

Waited three more days after posting my request, and no response. Sent another PM asking what’s with the delay, and he said he’s too busy. Then says…he doesn’t do custom orders (and because he’s too busy), saying to ask someone else.
So…I LOST FIVE DAYS that could had gone to exploration to delays!!
Made another thread. Waited another 48 hours. Got a response from a ‘yetian’ who’s willing to sell their huge axe..for 15s. The reason why for the price jump is because it’s rare. Typically I wouldn’t be doing this, but I’m growing desperate. Though this could be delayed even more after I asked if this has Animal’s Demise on it.
The person claims they can’t do that as Mind Steal counts as a cast, yet I was told by several people in kchat, that it’s possible. They responded a bit later of asking a friend of theirs to try.
Haven’t gotten a response back.

Getting burned out of modded Minecraft
With the time away from Wurm, I’ve been getting more productive in modded Minecraft. But by doing so, I’m running out of ‘fun'(to me) things to do. I got (technically) ‘Tier 2’ power flowing through my base (courtesy of the Generator from Draconic Evolution). Though, I feel I got lied to (or at the very least, mis-told) by To Asgaard.
He said in Episode 9 of his Direwolf20 Let’s Play, that these generators can produce 160RF/T… yet in reality, they only produce 90RF/T. I was confused after finally getting a quarry going via the RFTools Builder Block (dire showed me how to set it up in Episode 29 of his Season 8 of the pack). Also, I managed to make the quarry void items I want via EnderIO and a Trash Can, before it went into an Ender Chest. I also managed to regulate power to keep the quarry going 24/7.

Anyway, I didn’t understand why I was only producing 1,200RF/T, when I have 20 generators going with Red Coal (which would mean I should be getting 3,200RF/T..IF the generators were producing 160RF/T). And that’s even a surprise, as 20 generators at 90RF/T would produce 1,800RF/T.
My guess is 600RF/T is being used by all of my farmers, my quarry, and the RS System. Still, I feel this isn’t really enough power for my needs. It’s definitely not enough when I eventually start getting into automatic mob farming (such as Wither Skeletons and Endermen Heads), and eventually Wither farming to start getting into Draconic Evolution.

Moving on, I killed the Ender Dragon and now am swimming in Ender Pearls(was pretty low to even make a tree farm), thanks to the Empowerer from Actually Additions (and it’s Greenhouse Glass).
I also gotten into Botanica, and made all the cool gadgets I wanted. One being a replacement ring of the Actually Additions ring..that actually fits in a Bauble slot and can be disabled by taking it out. Another being the Pyroclast Pendant that makes me immune to taking damage from burning (but not immune to fire/lava).

I’m also very highly debating if it’s even worth getting into Blood Magic. Sure, it takes it’s own power system (so it won’t be a drain on my base)…but is it really worth the effort of pricking myself to gain LP and killing mobs with the Sentient Sword to gain Demonic Will (until I get a Tier 3 Altar)?
Sure, the Living Armor is cool (as it also increases your hearts). But if I get into Draconic Evolution first (and dire has even proven this), I would eventually phase out of the Living Armor. So…why even bother in the first place?

However, after watching some late episodes of Smashkeys and Porphyro’s Direwolf20 videos (and actually hearing Smashkeys say “BenieTheDragon… jerk” in Episode 44 of their series(but it’s all good and I do appreciate the shoutout)), I’ve decided to go with “let’s just do Blood Magic for the sake of saying I did Blood Magic!”
Now that I can make Dimensional Transceivers, I’m thinking of moving all 6 of my farming areas and my tree farm to another location of my world(without destroying the natural beauty(aka deforesting a large area)). I’ve thought of making an RFTools dimension and putting them there, but I need ‘Tier 4’ power before I even consider doing that.
By moving them somewhere else, I can claim where the farmers were as my new Blood Magic room. And on top of it, I won’t have jerky FPS in my base anymore! It’s a win-win!
