Freedom Isle server mega-exploration trip – Celebration (Day 2)

It is said…well, I said, that every server has a theme. Deli has beauty(due to rich people living there), Exo has pillars, and Celi has..fog. Lots of fog. Infact, it seems every time I log in, it’s getting foggy to the point where it’s annoying.
Today was no exception, as it was getting foggy when I logged in. Though thankfully it didn’t last long.

I also finally made my way to ‘Tap Dance’. It’s a lot bigger (and nicer) than Esert, and even bigger than Green Dog. It even has a sizable market with several merchants. This is promising. The main spawning area is also pretty nice. It’s similar to Esert with its rolling hills, but it also has a hedge maze and a small park. And at the end of that maze, let’s say it’s not cheese– it’s an old champ spider….which was coming towards me. This is the second non-caged champ mob I’ve seen since the era of Gold 2(the first was an old champ troll near a guard tower).
I couldn’t fight it; everything was red in the manual combat area. Though thankfully someone had just entered my Local and was able to assist me (after leading the big thing to the token where five spirit guards did battle with it).
That was…fun. But technically I got to battle my first champ mob!

Didn’t have another fog issue until I passed the ‘Sio Canal’ on the way back to the ocean coast. Got bad to a point I was forced to moor and wait it out. Took awhile until it burned away somewhat. Finally made it out of the very large interior and back following the server.
Heading back to the boat bridge, and the fog starts up again..this time much thicker. On top of it, Sol’s going down. Had to moor again and try to wait it out, but with Sol getting lower and lower, I just went for it. Good thing I did, as somehow the fog quickly burned away.

Now back at the boat bridge. Had to kill some spiders and a few wolves to secure the area. The 1×1’s aren’t really going to work for me (as both ends have gates. One opens while the other closes). So this marks a record of getting around the entire server in 1 & 1/2 days! Though this is mainly due to a major lack of lakes compared to Exo.
The server feels very streamlined and welcoming. I like it. I’m also starting to get fond feelings for the community; they seem pretty cool, and more active than Exo.
Now in order to explore by horseback, I’ve saved the map to my computer and using it there (in order to be able to zoom in better).
As soon as Sol rises again, I shall start exploring the shoreline by horseback. And like all times, I’m going to be going counter-clockwise. I also wish I had a mod or something that I could equip and unequip my huge axe with a keybind (as it’s size is going to be a pain in the ass when trying to get good screenshots).

Now going on horseback, there came to a point where I said “instead of going around the coast, let’s just re-visit areas I found interesting as I was going around the server (and see what happens on the way there)?” As the old saying goes, the journey is where the most fun happens.
This mainly came from nearly dying to a troll (had 14% health left at one time). Heard it laughing at me as I was forced to run away. I made it regret that later on after chopping its head off execution-style. NO ONE…laughs at me and lives. 😛

By doing this alternate way of exploring the server by horseback, I saw some pretty cool things (including killing my first champ mob(venerable champion black wolf)!!). I also saw more roads not the way they are on the map (always annoying). I also went across the ‘Northmere Bridge’ (and an adol troll nearly killed me there as well). So yeah, me wearing Plate. Was told that it has high protection…clearly not against trolls. Wurm’s combat/defense system makes me cry inside(for not explaining itself better, and NOT having people tell me “PLATE is better than Chain!!!”).
Went around Northmere Lake, following the orange road on the map. One time there was this troll guarding a bunch of bulls. Looked like straight out of Skyrim (with the Troll being a Giant and the Bulls being Mammoths). But instead of killing the mammoths, I was grooming them.
Now camped infront of a tall pointy mountain (that I dub ‘Wolf Fang Peak’..thought I was going to use “dragon” again, huh?). Said mountain has a spread of mobs on it, including a couple of trolls. Now I feel like I’m going to be screwed as soon as I log in, as the guards and myself managed to kill one troll(with all the guards dead), but there is still one more on the mountain (and two more further South of me that could easily migrate up to me).
Not really a safe place to set up camp, but my choices were pretty limited at that time. Lastly, there is a deed I actually want to set fire to; named “Draenor”… it. MUST. BUUUURRRRRRNNNNN!!! D:( Probably created by Blizzard employees. All the more reason to set it ablaze!

Came back on at the next Solrise, expecting to immediately be attacked by trolls. Nothing happened. REALLY lucked out here! My destination is to head back to the “if I didn’t have other servers to explore, this will be my new server” area(for that will be where I end Day 2).
Stopped short of a canal that wasn’t on the map. Wow. First roads not being on the map…now canals? Map updater, update the map dump FFS!!
1/4 the way there, a random mine full of light next to the road, caught my eye. Like a moth to a flame, I went in to check it out. Three mobs ambushed me (Goblin, a Cave Bug, and an Anaconda), as part of their evil plan. Too bad their plan failed. Two more cave bugs in the mine (probably shocked their plan failed) also died.
Right after that fun time, I made it back to Tap Dance (wasn’t expecting to arrive so quickly). Rode over ‘The Jenn Kellen Bridge'(a beautiful long wooden bridge with a really high center to allow Caravels to pass through(view is spectacular)). On the other side was a large island, with a sign pointing to the other side of a potential new bridge (infact there was quite a few of these appendages sticking out, one even raised up as if it once had a bridge attached to it).
The island is pretty cool. Originally thought it was part of Tap Dance, but it seems like it’s own thing. Saw a sign here saying “Beware Jpeg”; more of this silly “Plingplong” stuff I saw at last year’s Impalong. I really wish I knew how this thing got started. Going to assume it’s an inside joke that happened in Global Kchat.

Made it to ‘The Great Plains’. It looks, and feels bigger than the Grand Steppe back in Indy. Pretty cool. Even more so, as I was kind of on the side of a mountain. To the left, pretty awesome view. Infront of me, open road for as far as the eye could see(at least the game’s maximum draw distance). Georgous. All I can say. Well done, Celi!
At the end of this desert road, Celi had even more to show me. And that was scaling up the side of a mountain in order to reach my destination. Though several mobs weren’t going to make my journey safe. Guard tower nearby helped to cull the population that was following me.
Looking over the side..breathtaking. Love these really high points. Got a bit lost up here(trying to follow the outdated map dump), but with the help of my compass I found my way back to the shoreline.
Soon I was on the ‘Stigg=Amish Highway’, closing in on my location. Did a few turns, and went through a pretty nice pine/maple forest. Nearly there, I saw a named horse in the woods on the left. No saddle or horseshoes, belongs to a deed named ‘Jubilee’ and being taken care of by someone named ‘Tayomi’. Since I was in such a secluded location, I wasn’t sure if I should report the horse being found by me (if someone’s looking for it). Plus, they can easily locate the animal if they’re looking for it.
Finally made it back to the area. Had to secure it before dropping down my tent. Also killed a cow(for failing three times to be groomed..obviously “bugged”).

And that wraps up Day 2! Tomorrow, I’m going to go resource-hunting (to see what resources are around this area, and if they’re easily accessible). I know for a fact there’s a typical 2×3 area of Tar to the NW as I was approaching. A large cart with two 5-speeds (or even when I’m good enough..two hell horses), and that won’t be a problem. There’s also two large patches of Peat to the South.
The two canals just to the NW, and the East leading out to the East coast of the server, will serve perfect (if I actually choose to start moving my belongings over). Though one other question remains…what would I name the new area if I was going to found it? I like the name “Oceanside Retreat” as it didn’t have ‘dragon'(or anything else silly) in it. It would need a proper name.
I also think I’m going to try to scale one of these mountains. Looking closely at the map dump, only a few of the many mountains on this server, look like they have a road leading up to them. Maybe I could ask the locals first if they know of any scaleable mountains.
