Redoing the Local Roads / The Tulsi meets The Angry

Most of yesterday, instead of re-preming DH, I’ve been going over my old blog posts of before I moved in. All I could feel was embarrassment for how I treated Saintdouglas. I tried my damnest to keep my opinions to myself this time, yet he defriended me. Though it was probably because, he felt I didn’t need him anymore. He’s done this before, so it’s probably what happened.
Got prem’d up after dinner. It’s good through the 10th of next year. I did what he asked, of removing the left most row of Cobble road all the way south until the road turned due east (also removing the path leading to (and around) the unfinished canal. Began to ponder why the previous owners of the place, left it at this state. And the first thing that popped into my head, is this was initially going to be where the canal would go (until either something went wrong or it got canceled), and was made a bit further east.
With that all done, I was staring at the road going East and seeing how it was done, and had the idea of extending that look down towards our deeds. I didn’t know if angry would want it like that, so I also was trying to find that command someone told me this year, that places lava under your feet (and goes away when you relog). After searching my logs turned up empty (I could had sworn I was told this command before the Exo Impalong), I was forced to ask Global Kchat (local Kchat has been pretty much dead as a doornail all day).

Got my answer, and to my future self that needs it, go into the console and type in ‘firepillar’. It still works, and it doesn’t matter how far away you are from it, as it’ll stay. Used it to mark where the road was going to go (and how it had to be kicked over twice because angry kind of screwed up in the placement of his deed). Waited for him in order to show the plan, and if it was OK with him.

.
He came on around 8’ish my time (forgot the exact time though). Tried to show him a picture I took of the plan. Since links don’t work in Wurm(thank you, Rolf’s coding), I had to visually show him the plan. And surprisingly, he had the same idea. So it was OK. And, he did most of the work (not my choice though, I wanted to help, but he decided to do it).
Had a troll encounter to the south. I tried to show him that I could even handle trolls (was waiting for him to give a snarky comment like “have fun dying” or something like that). Yet somehow I was able to defeat this ven troll without losing half of my health. WOW! And this is without being on horseback! That is damn impressive.. either that or the RNGods were rolling in my favor. Without a wolf (or any lesser mob), I chose to wait instead of bandaging myself up. And oh yeah..no Mediums. 🙂
To hell with the people who say Plate is better. HAH! That was living proof that Chain is superior!

We were almost done, when he said that we should also align this road with the road that goes east and south around the lake. I didn’t know how we were going to do that, yet he knew as he started chopping and digging away at the hill on the north end of the road. I just went with it, while just talking random conversations (and also supplying him with Brick and Rock Shards for the road).
One of those conversations was myself being inquisitive of angry dealing with PC (and server) tech support (and asking him of how many times has he told the person on the other end of the line to “turn it off and back on again”). He said it was “several times actually”. Asked him if he had any really good callers, and he gives me a few stories. One being yelled at by an 80 year old man claiming they gave him a warranty. He also tells me how another customer tried to remote workstation angry about 30 times. Said he was moving the windows around of his two screens, and they were all filled.
I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking when I wanted to say “were they filled with ‘Angry help me! Angry help me!’ messages”. Thankfully I didn’t, but it just almost something my uncaring side would do. I feel very ashamed for even thinking of that. What the fuck is wrong with me? …Meh, whatever. My response to him was simply “Damn.”
I also tried to make him proud of me, by telling him that I rebuilt my computer(by taking that accursed 9590 out). But he just seemed to not be amazed that I would actually have the balls to do it.
I also told him about the 9590, waiting for him to tell me something like “you dun goof’d”, but I didn’t get a single response out of him. Though I refuse to say that he just doesn’t care, but more like maybe he was just busy IRL, to notice.

A bit later, I decided to ask him that burning question: “What took you this long to find me?”(while also assuming that RL was the main thing). He said it was “school and work for the last two years”, and then he asked me of how long I’ve been in Cele. After going over my blog posts, I told him that we moved out of OR of July 17th of this year. Wow. That makes it nearly six months since I left my old deed. I told him that it “was quite a mess” of struggling to fund the deed. Did forget to tell him the ‘fun’ that Saint and I had of trying to manually map out the land without a deed(and myself losing patience in him(yet also forgetting he told me that he couldn’t do it over some limit with Deedplanner)).

Then the conversation went to Tulsi (with myself starting it, of telling Angry how I tried to be like him when he was teaching me the game). He basically told me after I said how he(Tulsi) doesn’t really listen to me, that to “let him just go out on his own and see what he builds”. Yet I also told him that when I was living in OR, how he kept pretending he was Superman and trying to fly off the edge of the deed (and also picking fights with my tower guards). And he said to just…allow him.
So, I thought fine, I guess I’ll try to talk Tulsi into re-joining after just over a month of being gone. And sure enough it worked. However, after he asked if it was angry, I said “I’m not telling you” to not spoil the surprise. Yet the first thing he calls me when he logs in, is “u stupid poopy” for ‘lying’ to him (with angry actually agreeing with him). It’s to be expected.
A ven bear decided to show up on the south road. I geared up and took it out, again trying to get angry to be proud of the effort I put in of being able to fight. Managed to kill it before the first guard came to assist me. Ooh yeah. But no reaction out of angry. Damnit. What do I got to do to get some respect out of him?
Anyway, Tulsi saw angry’s deed and wondered why he built it so close. Somehow this turned into a small ‘debate’ between Tulsi and Angry about how old I am (with angry saying he might have to sign me up to AARP.. har har har. 😛

Then Angry did a no-no in Tulsi’s eyes; taking a butchering a spider corpse that was on the road (before Tulsi could claim it). He wasn’t quite happy with him. And then he’s accusing myself of taking that champ lava spider corpse. Told him it decayed (which was the truth). Then he asked me what happened to his shack. Told him it decayed (which wasn’t the truth, but it’s the fact he was done and I got rid of it.. and never once did I feel sorry for him and help him rebuild it. After I get this done, I will. I owe it to him).
He had to leave to do homework, and said he would come back. I asked angry shortly after he left of what he thought of him, and I told him that “Typically he’s not this calm” (referencing the times he used all caps in public). Angry said it reminds him of his coworkers, thought not so much in calling their customers names(thank goodness for that), but going out of their way to embarrass themselves in public. Hmm.
A bit later, he’s on the south road and suddenly gets into combat and calls the guards. I question him, as I don’t see what he sees. Soon I saw the mob: a champ wild cat. Second one on this server I’ve seen. Again I’m trying to impress him by saying how I killed three champs on this server alone… and again, no reaction (even after I said how I killed it in two hits).
Whatever. I’m done trying, then. I’m just going to do my thing. I just wanted him to be proud of me (that I actually put effort into something in this game), that’s all.

Decided to turn the stalemate conversation into a burning question (to get it off my chest). “So, what are you going to do once you get this place fully built?” He says he’ll probably “sit on it a bit”(telling me that the upkeep is good for a few months(of course it would be, as that’s a requirement for founding a deed)). I also questioned if his true intention was to just mess with me with this deed, and then “disappear back into the shadows”. He said “probably” and “I’m on a Wurm jaunt, no clue how long it will last”. I suggested that he would just go back to Inde and try to “relive the glory days”(as I did). Said he’s tried, but he ran out of money.
And that’s when I decided to pop a question that I’ve been wondering if he wouldn’t mind doing (which is to enchant the grass of when I do the deed redesign). And he said sure. So that’s awesome.
By the way, I plan to start after I get back from the two Impalongs. Today, I’m going to tally up the totals for all the materials of the entire redesign, and then the next day to buy the mortar I’ll need (maybe stone/sandstone bricks too, depends on how I feel).

Caught him building a guard tower, and questioned the reason as to why. He claims that a guard tower is a necessity. Well, maybe in the past. But now when I can take on pretty much anything (that isn’t a Rift/Valrei mob, or even big ass champ mobs), I don’t really need a tower. But since he’s building one, that keeps me from doing the same (for Tulsi). But, no matter. The ‘guards!’ range should be within the South boundary of my deed.
Tulsi came back sometime after, asking if “are you and angry cool now”. I honestly didn’t really want to step on toes, but I said “For now, I assume so.” After Angry said “I don’t know if we’d go that far”, Tulsi PMs me and asks if Angry was being sarcastic. I said it “depends on his mood.”(referencing that one time in Gold 2 where he was pretty pissed off at me, and it was Summer).
He asked when did we meet, and Angry told him that we met in the Facepunch forum. But it wasn’t what he wanted (which was, how did he find me in Cele). I didn’t really know what to say after that.
I’m then telling Angry about how Tulsi can’t get Prem, over his parents being super strict. Suddenly he’s giving me a story that I swear he never told me (yet he claims he did) of his parents buying him a membership and the browser he was using saves the credit card info to make future purchases easier.. and he binge spent thinking it was free. When his parents saw the $200 bill on their statement, they banned him from having any money.

The angry strikes again, with ‘The Oddyssey’ near me

Spent all day waiting in hopes Warlander would see my problem and either ask me to send my map file to him, or tell me that this shouldn’t happen in the game. I’ve also been trying to get ahold of ‘Labersin'(the guy who I co-op’d with in AoE). Though I feel (and hope) if he still cares, he would DM me in Discord and we can talk about it.
But if not, then.. ehh. *shrug* No big deal, really. I’m used to losing friends with my childish attitude (of treating them like emotional punching bags). Yes I’m ashamed everytime it happens, but.. I can’t help it. This is why I live (and work) alone.
#ForeverAlone

Tried to come on Wurm, and I’m downloading a MASSIVE update that takes nearly five minutes to install. Damn! Was going over the changelog, and it claims the devs have attempted to fix studdering with large crowds (such as the Impalong). Looking forward to trying out these fixes. Finally the update got done and I logged in.
I was half-expecting to see my token gone when I logged in(knowing how long I’ve been gone). Everything loaded up, and I saw it. Let out a sigh of relief. And then.. I saw ‘Misterangry’ in my local (with the sound of hammering).
Decided to say “Well, well, well…” “He lives.” He quickly logged off without a word. All I could think of after seeing this confirmed encounter that Angry still plays Wurm, was “Time to figure out what he’s up to.” Such as, what he was working on. First off I needed to check my token. 33 days left. Nice time to log in. Threw in another month.

I then turned around towards the South, and saw what looks like a deed within a stone’s throw from mine (just up the hill). Walked over to it, and entered ‘The Oddyssey'(which explains how he was able to log out quickly). I saw its token. He owns it. Looking at it more closely, it showed he was in an Alliance named ‘Isle of Ithaca’, with a deed called ‘Port Scherie’ and mentions that the HQ is this deed.
I need to go to this ‘Port Scherie’ and try to piece together the reason Angry is here, and why he’s ‘spying on me’ by using this deed (and also learn more about this Alliance he’s a part of).
But before that, I needed to check the outskirts of my deed for clues (such as maybe another boat). The only thing I found was a cotton tent placed on the North side of the deed, owned by ‘Redminer’. This person could be anything; a local who’s just out hunting in these parts, a tourist out exploring (and/or hunting), one of angry’s friends, or even one of his alts. I need to also know who this person is, and why their tent is here.
The fact it’s on the North side, I don’t think he knows who Angry is.

It seems I have to screw redesigning the base(for now), since my privacy has been violated by Angry. Yet…who knows? Maybe he just wants to build near me, just for the hell of it (and means no harm)? He’s clearly doing his head games on me, and I’m going to try to get to the bottom of this (hopefully before B2 and I head for the two Impalongs on the 20th(chosen day to do it)).

.
UPDATE: Well, not actually an update but a ‘surprise’. It seems Saintdouglas has unfriended me. Fine with me. Probably because of how inactive I’ve been from Wurm (and of course my bitching to him didn’t help any). Also Garit has unfriended me. I didn’t say anything to him that would had annoyed him, so it’s possible it was due to (yet again), being as inactive as I was. Ivan’s still there, though.

UPDATE2: After cross-referencing deed Area History with the Cele Twitter feed, angry founded the deed just under a week ago (on December 3rd). Interesting. I’ll need to know more, though.

UPDATE3: I have spoken to Angry, and got most of my questions answered. My suspicions were true, that he’s just been messing with me (doing his angry head games). Said he wanted more time to build the deed, and then freak me out when it’s fully built. Guess I spoiled his fun.
Says he tracked me down using the blogs of this website (which was highly expected). I also learned who this ‘Redminer’ is (will be explained in a moment).
As for himself, he’s got a job as a PC repair guy and working for a website development company in his town(I’m not going to ask him where he moved, as that’s not my business to know). Said he also went to collage, but didn’t stay there long. He also has been ‘dipping his toes’ in enterprise networking.
Give this man some shades, as his future is so bright.

As for ‘Redminer’, he is one of angry’s two.. well, his “boyfriend and girlfriend respectively” as he puts them as. Okay, I shall not judge. Whatever makes you happy. Anyway, I also discovered that this ‘Port Scherie’ is owned by Red, the token is next to the South side of the lake, and it was purposely there to spy on me (yet also a place to store their boats..including that rowboat which was sitting infront of the North gate.
I don’t have a reason as to why it took him this long to find me, but I assume it was because he was so busy with his job, that he didn’t have time. He also said that rowboat came from the Wild server, which could’ve been another reason.

Angry was just quite easy to talk to (even though there were still a few sharp-edged moments, such as myself talking about why I quit AoE). I even allowed him to barrow my wagon (as I don’t really need it right now). Learned that Xandice (that guy who scared me thinking I was going to get a forced neighbor)..his house is falling apart. Angry ‘gently’ raided everything that wasn’t locked/nailed down.
And..that is about it. Am I annoyed I got an active neighbor? Of course. However, I rather have an active neighbor that I know from my past, than having a complete stranger. Though I hope he doesn’t ‘grill me’ on wanting to buy bricks and mortar for redesigning the deed.
And before I forget, I need to get prem again (will probably get the near $20 one this time) and help by removing tiles. Though it’s actually helping myself, as he’s trying to think of ways to help get me unfriended by Vynrona (such as suggesting to kill 100 guards and butcher them, anything to lower the Alignment). Yet he warns not to go too far, or I will be automatically teleported to the Epic server. Wow. Wasn’t told this.

Suffering from ‘AoE Withdraw’ / WOO! DP got an update!

I had a restless sleep, waking up thinking about all the things I could’ve done in AoE (and then realizing I got rid of it). Perhaps this is the five stages of grief I’m going through.
But can you blame me? I have been playing that thing for over a month, non-stop. And now it feels like literal drugs (and not the good kind). All I can do is just keep telling myself that I did the right thing. Maybe by Christmas, I would be at Stage 5: Acceptance.
It just feels like, even despite the depression and frustration, that I just need to keep going. But the problem is, I just can’t. I can’t without bitching to the AoE Discord about how this or that doesn’t work as I want it (that and watching others pull far ahead of me, wishing I was them, and then seeing how ‘ugly’ their base is for being above ground).
Some people have compared AoE to Factorio. And in ways, I could agree. Both are very complicated. Yet the only thing that got me into that game, is the automated train systems you can set up. That pack doesn’t have them (as it doesn’t have Railcraft). Which really confuses me, since wasn’t the ‘Railroad age’ part of the actual Engineering ages?
If it actually had Railcraft, then I would likely come back to it. Because I could actually spread my base out (and make it feel more modular). Having a rail system deliver not just myself, but things like Iron Plates to another part of the base to be processed. Now THAT would be worth coming back to!

.
In other news, Deedplanner got updated a week ago to 2.8.10 (finally). And it contains the much-wanted changes to bridges I’ve been waiting for a good long time.
Though, as with any update, it’s not without bugs. One is seeing this on the two bridges connected to the central raised pillar the token’s on. I’m worried this thing is going to be the same ingame. Seems to only happen when the bridge is four tiles long. Plus I’m getting an error relating to having ‘access denied’ to Objects(doesn’t seem to affect the app though).
I don’t know how to go about testing if this thing happens in the game, without tearing down one of the bridges. Only thing I can think of, is to just try the entire redesign project. I mean, surely I wouldn’t actually have this problem in the game.. I hope. Only way to know is to try.

Prematurely done with Age of Engineering

Oh, woe is Benie. For he cannot handle an expert pack. Just grab your popcorn, as I’ll be throwing salt everywhere.
I have quit the pack, in Age 7. Though I just want to make one thing clear; I don’t hate the pack. Age of Engineering is great, and I encourage anyone to try it out. However, since it’s an expert pack, mods that you might be familiar with (and be able to access quite quickly) are gated behind a progression system (of 14 Ages).

What caused me to finally say “I had enough” (after several times of coming very close), was spending three days wanting to literally pound my head with a brick. I wanted to automate getting rubber, something so ‘really easy’ according to the AoE Discord (which I showed them just how difficult I could make it on myself).
Because it wasn’t just that simple, because I also wanted to get wood and planks back to the base (as well as Resin from the rubber tree farm).
I finally got it, thanks to them. It was as simple as just making another RFTools Crafter to turn planks from the Oak tree farm (where I get the wood from) into planks, and then the second crafter turns planks into treetaps (to extract the resin).

I also managed to automate a cobble generator (of turning Cobble into Gravel/Sand/Glass, to give myself an infinite amount).
So, what seems to be the problem here, you are probably asking. As with since getting this pack, the issue…is myself. I didn’t like how these machines that I got to auto-process, kept running even when I didn’t need them to. This was getting a few people in the Discord server, greatly annoyed with me (after just helping me with this issue).
What sent me into ‘insurmountable depression’, was when I saw if I also needed to store “the stupid saplings and apples”. To me, this made it feel that what I’ve been trying to do in order to get EU power, is ‘stupid’.

Now I’m also co-oping with someone. Being that depressed, I didn’t really feel like doing anything (even though there were things to do). I tried to talk it over with my co-op partner. As much as he tried to make me feel better (by telling me to binge watch Dire’s episodes and write down what he does), it just kept my depression from going away.

I feel Dire “owes it to me” to get me through this pack (since Youtube’s recommended decided to show me of Dire in the Space Age, which got me hooked). But the fact he isn’t doing what I would see are ‘high priority Ease of Use’ fixes, left me with no way of knowing how to do what I needed to do. I wanted to follow him exactly (of the same level I was) step by step, instead of just binge watch all of his episodes, and then write down what to do. I don’t want to feel overwhelmed.
Plus, I knew that with my current base design, that I would eventually reach a point where I would get myself stuck in a corner (and not know how to get out of it). I literally was begging for anyone (that is good with base building in this pack) to come on a private local server (that I would host), and to please help me with this base. Yet all I got was pointless advice that didn’t help one bit.

If only, Modded Minecraft had a ‘Base Planner’ (similar to Deed Planner in Wurm) that I could download. It would help me greatly determine how to set up the base, where to hook up power in the most efficient way, where to place machines for automation purposes, etc.
I actually had another idea for the base, but I just don’t know if I would even like it. It would have very long hallways for the machines (and would even be used for futureproofing). But having to run back and forth, just.. dunno.

Anyway, before I had quit for good, I backed up my worlds to a zip file to keep myself from losing any progress (incase I ever wanted to try it again).
I’ve left the AoE Discord server without saying a word. Honestly, that’s possibly the best idea I’ve had since getting the pack. And as for my co-op partner(that unfortunately didn’t get the message), is I wanted to tell him that I was done, and to please find a more willing person to help him complete the pack. I was even going to wish him (and whoever his picks), well. But I made the mistake of not knowing that this person had their DM settings on ‘friends only’. And since I unfriended him, I couldn’t send the message.
Hopefully I can still tell him, somehow.

.
As for what happens now, I need to go back to Wurm. At least there, I can progress however I want(even though the only ‘progression’ is lots and lots (did I mention lots?) of skill grinding).
I still need to get started with that very overdo project of redesigning the deed, which will start with buying the mortar and bricks I require (I’ll make the rest, mind you). So look for a post about that, possibly as early as tomorrow.

“Are you alive? What’s going on?”

…are a few of the questions I’ve been getting. Yes, I’m still very much alive. Though at times I still question why God is ‘punishing’ me (instead of giving me the sweet ending of death). Though I feel it won’t be long ’till I’m going to be wearing dentures at 40 years old (but that’s for something else).

And no, I haven’t gone emo, but I have gotten quite depressed. It’s that “game depression” I get from time to time. But this time, it’s been especially strong. Coupled with two stealth-oriented games that I played and stopped for a good month(and the reason I decided to stop doing reviews), and Modded Minecraft.

Discussing the first thing; HITMAN(which I just wrapped up to be sent back to Gamefly), and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The first one, the only reason I got it was because of H2O Delirious and Dan(mainly Delirious, though). It looked really fun, how you have multiple ways of approaching (and assassinating) a target. But what I wasn’t told (with this and the other game), is time has weight. The game’s time actually ticks on while you’re trying to stealth through a level (and can fuck you up if you aren’t quick).
HITMAN alone, opportunities will literally pass you by if you don’t focus on them. Though I understand that you don’t -have- to focus on every single one of them (as they’re made for multiple playthroughs). This game is designed to be played over and over, trying out new things you’ve never done.
Yet this is also a problem, when you’re like me and you get stuck at a certain part and don’t know how to get around it. But instead of eventually finding a way, I try to look for a walkthrough. Yet it also feels wrong, of a game with multiple ways to play it (and I just happen to suck at them all).
It’s also hard to find a “this is what you need to do” walkthough. And it’s not due to the age of the game (came out last year), but as I said once again, it’s due to the multiple ways of doing a mission. It’s really mindboggling frustrating for me (and what made me send it back to Gamefly).

The second game is kind of similar. It gives you three ingame days to complete the first mission. I struggled at the first camp, trying so hard to find a way in. An entire day passes by when I finally learn where in the fuck I’m supposed to go, and then I yet yelled at by Big Boss for not being quick.
It reminds me of how horribly I failed at Simcity 3000, getting fired by failing at the god damn TUTORIAL level! It’s like that ‘game journalist’ failing at the Cuphead tutorial all over again.

.
There’s also a 3rd game. Never played. My father’s been trying to get me into it. I would’ve played it, if it wasn’t for Modded Minecraft taking most of my time (more on it later). It’s Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus that came out this month.
The main reason why I don’t want to play it, is.. well, my father enjoys seeing “the pro gamer at work”. After the two games I mentioned above, hell no I’m no ‘pro gamer’. I never was. I even told him that if I was, I would’ve gotten a team and made a lot of money from these gaming tournaments(aka E-Sports).
And he thinks I’m making excuses, not wanting to compete with him. I do NOT compete! I try to take my time.

And now to move to the other issue, Modded Minecraft (which I said, took a lot of my time). I’m now getting fed up with it, playing Age of Engineering (where several times I was at the verge of quitting). And it isn’t the steep resource costs, but trying to build a base that looks good for them.
Typically when I build a base, I’m OK with it and I feel it suits my needs. However, all of those times was when I was using ‘kitchen sink’ modpacks (aka the Direwolf20 pack). These modpacks allow you to choose your progression, from bashing trees with your fist, to automating tree farms (and having more than enough power to do so).
Another beauty about these types of modpacks, is you can choose which mods you want to get into (and which you don’t).
Age of Engineering however, is the opposite of all that (and more). Your progression is chosen through 14 Ages(no, not Myst ages), each unlocked by working up to make the block (or item) to make it. It also substantially increases the costs of most recipes, and makes it where you have to use mods from past unlocked ages (in order to progress).
This alone, makes it near impossible to make a proper base in order to house them all. And this, infuriates me. If I had known this, I would’ve never got into it. Because FUCK it’s giving me a headache just thinking about it.
This pack also seems to have a huge emphasis on using IC2 a lot(to get into making UU-Matter and Plutonium). There’s also a lot of use with Forestry.

Again, building a base to support all of this (and future mods), is impossible for me, yet doable for the majority of players. Their secret? “Just throw everything on the grass! Who gives a fuck if it looks ugly!! No one’s going to see it except you!” That is the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard. A base is supposed to look nice and be functional. Plus I’m just not a fan of ‘open air’ bases. The fact I have to have walls (and be forced to think of how to decorate them).
On top of that, I feel I need to ‘futureproof’ the base, by knowing where future machines would go and to make them look good (which I know is impossible, and that just wants to make me want to scream “Just get it over already! I don’t want to deal with this!”).
So hopefully by now you folks are seeing that I’m getting myself super stressed out over something so trivial (as usual). And I’ll be damned if I make 9×9’s. I want a base that doesn’t feel like a lazy copy of another. This is the one and only time, I don’t want to be forced to copy someone else’s build.
But I feel it wouldn’t be as trivial if I had someone like angry (who had a server that we played Modded Minecraft together), and could just visually show me these mods and how they work (and the most efficient way to progress).

Plus I’m also getting fed up with manual crafting (and inventory management). But that’s not really a surprise. Once you get a taste of what autocrafting is like…you never want to go back. I feel like I’ll never be able to get into AE2 (which is Age 9, and I’m at the tail end of Age 6 right now).
Maybe I’m just getting fed up with the same ole shit with Modded Minecraft. I’m almost desperate enough to join someone’s server and see how they handle the modpack (and build their base around it). Maybe then I’ll get an idea of just how to do everything. Yet, I think it would be no better than it was when angry was showing me how mods work in the DW20 1.7.10 pack.
It’s wanting help, yet also wanting to control the help from saying “you should do X, and I’m not going to visually show you how”. I know I’m ‘doing it wrong’ with this pack. I could be making it easier on myself(such as automating certain things). But having little knowledge of mods like Calculator doesn’t help me. Yet again, I don’t want to be told “do X”, I want to be visually shown X (and how I could do it).
I have special needs, I guess. 😛

.
And that is what’s been going on. Pretty much the same old thing with me. Though, I would love to get Tulsi involved in these activities. If only he had money.

TL;DR: I’m depressed and whiny again. Nothing’s changed. Move along.

Cuphead might be more than ‘just a game’

Cuphead, a friendly game of playing as a person with the head as a cup, featuring 1930’s movie-like graphics and music? …or “the cartoon version of Dark Souls” with its 2D bullet hell-style boss fights?
This game has been the forefront of what “challenge VS reward” means in video gaming, referring anything with a challenge to Dark Souls. And even I don’t do that.
—-
But what I have to say, isn’t about the Spawn of Satan level of challenging (yet fun) game. For what I have to say is a theory. And this theory isn’t from playing it (I never have), it’s from what I’ve seen of several people playing (and raging at) the game.
And that is the soul contracts the player is tasked to collect (in order to keep himself and his cup brother from giving their souls to the Devil). One thing has caught my eye, and that is the names matching every boss defeated.
It made me start to ponder the origin of these contracts, and I have the quite obvious answer (but it’s a spoiler). This spoiler also has further proof of the theory (of the endgame).

If you’re immune to spoilers, then by all means feel free to read the below spoiler section below this small disclaimer. And if you have already beaten the game (and if on Regular with ‘S’ ranking for all levels/bosses, you are a God) and are curious to my theory, please read it.
Without further delays, here’s my theory;

My Theory

As I said about the origins of the soul contracts, it’s quite obvious. The bosses… have sold their own souls to the devil, and possibly the same way of using King Dice and his not so fair ways of betting (and the same way Cuphead lost). Why they even did in the first place though, eludes me. Though it could be anything; Money? Fame? Power? Yet I think they wanted the ability to transform (and affect the world around them). The way the boss stages behave, this seems to be the thing. With the two toads turning into a slot machine, the blimp lady turning into different creatures, and the green dragon able to transform into a three-headed fire-breathing hydra.
And the reason why the Devil decides to let the cup brothers live, is because he told the bosses that if they want their souls back, to kill Cuphead.
The bosses are slaves to the Devil, forced to work for him.

This theory is further proven at the very end of the game (after defeating the Devil). You see Cuphead and Mugman celebrating their victory on a stage, surrounded by the smiling faces of all the bosses.
Their souls are clearly freed by the grasp of the Devil, and this is the best way to thank the cup brothers.

[collapse]
If this theory is true or not, it’s something I wanted to get off my chest for sometime. Please let me know what you folks think of my theory. And if you have your own, feel free to post it.

ESO: Clockwork City available now (and free on ESO+)

This is quite the surprise. Though I thought Clockwork City came with the Morrowind DLC. And now it’s a whole DLC of itself.
For those who don’t know, Clockwork City is the supposed subterranean capital of the dwarves (the extinct race of Tamriel). It’s also Sotha Sil’s creation.

Now from what I’m hearing (and seeing from this announcement video), it’ll be a brand new zone, it’ll have a soloable storyline, a challenging Trial, new dailies(hopefully they don’t involve relying on strangers to help you take down a mini-boss), and more.
And best of all, as long as you have a recurring ESO+ subscription(which frankly most people already have in order to get these DLCs), it’s free! Though it can also be paid for with Crowns in the ESO Store.

Maybe sometime this week, I’ll play it and give my opinions on what I thought about it, and if you should even bother with it. Yes I’m no longer doing reviews, but I can still criticize.

One of Wurm’s biggest updates brings in excess downtime

Wurm has been updated to version 6.0. First thing they warn, is the legacy launcher is no longer supported. Personally, I’m fine with this. I still like the new launcher.

Now, let’s go over the features. And the first is the ‘Wagoner’, an NPC that uses the highway system (if it uses the new catseye highway protection system) to deliver goods inter-server(the same server). A player can either hire a public wagoner(would assume the price is set by the seller), or purchase a wagoner contract for 15s from a trader.
To learn more, you can click this link to go to the Wurmpedia article.

Another feature, though this one seems to be trying to get players away from their forges and go exploring, is ‘Archeology and Restoration’. Basically, you can now go around on tiles with a trowel and dig for items. Going to an old disbanded deed (no idea what they classify as ‘old’) has a chance to yield a unique item. Items need to be identified with either using a chisel or a metal brush. Each time the item is identified, it loses some weight. Yet the trick is, the correct tool must be used in order to increase how much weight is lost. After that, the item becomes a ‘fragment’ and can be combined with others like it to complete the item.
This entire thing feels like if the Archeology skill from WoW, and the archeological minigame of Starbound, had a baby (as this would be it).

There’s been a few changes to paying for Prem, but it mainly affects first time players. Not only will they get 3s (down from 5s), but they’ll no longer get the referral. I assume this is to cut down on people who make lots of alts (and use their referrals to give to the main). Yet if it’s making the company money, why are they bitching? Something else is going on with this (or I’m reading it wrong).
Also, there’s a second option to purchase prem through the token; a half a month of prem(15 days) for only 5s. This feels quite reasonable.

A useful feature is the ability to move bulk goods from one container to the other (such as moving Dirt from a large crate to a BSB, and vice versa). You’ll still see the “how many do you want to grab” popup. But this is the only time you’ll see it, as the items are automatically moved to the other container every second.
How many are moved per second is based on your Body Strength, and the weight of the items (IE, if you can carry 7 Dirt in your inventory, it will move 7 Dirt every second). You can also queue other items to be moved (instead of having to wait for that one item).
Finally, some semi-automation in Wurm! 😀

And the final feature, they made Meditation a little bit less of a grind. The cooldown has been lowered(no info as to what), and the cap has been reduced by 6 days (18 days instead of nearly a month(24 days) when reaching Level 7 and up).
This is some great news, but I don’t think it’s going to entice me to level up in order to be able to enchant the grass of the horse pens. Although… I can just hear the sound of angered purists over the hill, shouting “You made it TOO EASY! This game is FOR CASUALS NOW!! *insert war stories of surviving trolls and working their ass off, and more bitching that casuals have it easy*”
All I can say is, Code Club AB, well done on growing a pair. 🙂

.
But as with most big updates, this one never got tested and went through several hotfixes, eventually getting another pointless (to myself) 10 hours Sleep Bonus.
This is getting quite ridiculous for it happening twice in one year. Why even have test servers (for people to beta test) when the update falls apart upon going live? And personally, I feel 5 additional hours of Sleep Bonus is a slap in the face.
Sure, having additional sleep bonus does help to get faster skills, but getting a month of prem for everyone would attract new people to the game (just saying). Not having to pay for prem after an incident like this, IMO, is worth more than 5 more hours of sleep bonus.
There’s also a possible reason why they don’t give free prem to all. From ‘it’s impossible to do it as their current systems wouldn’t be able to support it’ to ‘everyone would get prem, even people that never did.’
Trying not to be Negative Nancy here, I’m guessing the former (as the latter feels like “we can’t give people prem that never had it before, because giving free sleep bonus is a lot cheaper. If we would to give free prem, it would be a waste of money”).
To add onto that, giving prem to people that never had it before, might be confusing (not to mention, new people aren’t affected by the downtime).

“Be happy you’re getting something” you might say. Honestly I don’t care for SB as much as I did before (as I have no point in grinding). And stuff it with the “don’t use it if you don’t like it” saying. That solves nothing.

So much for trying not to be Negative Nancy. 😛

November’s PS+ lineup (for the PS4)… not that good

Sony has released the free games this month (activating on the 7th). One title is known, and the other is unknown.

Worms: Battlegrounds
Bound

Since I have no friends (except maybe I could get my father to play, though he’s into more gory games than silly ones), I probably won’t even touch the first game (as it’s multiplayer-based).
The second one sounds interesting. It’s preview looks similar to these open world adventure/puzzle-based games I’ve been playing (and enjoying).

From what I saw of the official announcement video from Sony, a majority of people feel “PS+ is back to being shit” after showcasing several AAA titles this year. I personally don’t think so. Sure it was good to see (and play) familiar titles and IPs, but doing reviews for them was a trainwreck waiting to happen. And I don’t have to tell you guys what that’s like.
Instead, these titles that I never heard of, I actually enjoy seeing. They were easier to review (less of a fanbase to criticize it).

Anyway, you have until the 7th to still download last month’s titles (if you haven’t yet). And though I’m no longer reviewing games, I highly recommend you to do so.

‘More Wurm drama with Tulsi here’

Whenever I think of Wurm drama, it was either with angry and I (or something that happened to me that I need to let off steam). But as you know, this ‘modern’ drama has been about Tulsi and I.
I know I’m not a good friend to him. And honestly (and I have said this multiple times), I wish I never met him in the first place (and wouldn’t even mind if he defriended me). We can’t really play the same games, because most of them require him to have something his parents won’t allow him to use for games (money).
Just to set the record straight, I do not hate Tulsi (‘hate’ is such a strong word). I have never hated him.

So what’s the problem this time? For one thing, look at the date: it’s November 1st, the day I start to redesign the deed. And it’s also when I assumed (based on him being active) that he would be done with his shed (before this date).
He’s still only done 2/4 walls of that shack. How can something so simple take so long, you ask? Real life issues (that might be happening to him) for one thing. Yet I also expected him to say “hey, sorry I can’t play, I got X to do” or whatever. Though I guess it’s wrong to think how others would react around me. Simply forgetting to tell me, is also a possibility. Anything’s possible.

This eventually went back to the age old “Wurm isn’t for you” discussion. But this time (going by the way I saw Wargasm taking care of that newbie(the way I should be taking care of Tulsi)), I tried a different approach. This time I tried “do you need help to build it?” Yet the way I say it, I’m trying to rush him to get done (which is kind of true in this regard). But I’m also trying to get him to a state where he’s enjoying the game.
He isn’t. He finds it being a grind (and frustration of failing to make planks). I tried to talk this over with him (saying that I know how it’s like and I’ve been there).. in other words, I’m trying to show him that it’s ‘OK’ to just talk to me(that I won’t yell at him), and work out this frustration. But my attempts seem to have no affect of his attitude towards the game. I expected him to at least ask something like “how in the hell did you deal with the grind?”.. yet I got nothing out of him. Just silence, and the feeling of ‘talking to a wall’.
Tried another approach: setting goals (which is the only reason I still play). Just something to get his mind off the grinding (by working towards it), and tried to give him some time to think about it. Again, more silence. Waited a few hours, and he answered “no” to if he had any goals(and I asked in a calm manner). I then told him that I have some sample goals he could follow (none of them were him getting prem… again, I want him to feel he’s enjoying the game, just like Xandice). Again with the “no” answer.

So now he seems to be refusing my help. Okay, fine. He doesn’t want help, he just wants to not enjoy the game. So why play it? Tried to hammer that into his head, and getting the silent treatment. And since he doesn’t enjoy it, to please give me my tools back and put them in his coffin. And he hasn’t yet.
What am I doing wrong, guys? I’ve tried everything. And of course I blame myself for dragging him in Wurm and expecting him to enjoy something I do. As I’ve said countless times (and this might not be the last), he’s much too young to grasp that enjoyment. Yet he refuses to just leave Wurm and go back to a game he would enjoy (like Minecraft), replying with “idk”.
I still need my saw and hammer, though. I cannot do this project without them, and I’m trying my best to not think he’s going to be a problem by refusing to give them back.
Luckily for both of us, there was no problem at all. He gave me back my tools, yet he seems to not want to talk to me about why he refused my help.

In any case, I hope this finally ends the drama with me and him, and he has finally seen that Wurm just isn’t for him (and should just go to something less grindy, like vanilla Minecraft).
I do hope that when I get this new hardware and have Modded Minecraft working good, that maybe I could host a local server just for us (of playing the Direwolf20 pack, or something like it). I want to play something other than Wurm with him– something he would enjoy.

I also don’t want to think that I might have to get a GM involved. Especially when I feel they’re going to tell me: “talk to your friend about this, because we aren’t going to do anything about it.” I’m reminded of what happened to Garit, of having most of his stuff stolen from his deed (and the GMs did nothing, only telling him to make sure it doesn’t happen again). Again, I pray this doesn’t lead up to that (and I can just talk him into dropping the tools with no fuss).

The silence, I have no idea what’s going on over there. He could be simply AFK or eating dinner (or playing another game) He needs to tell me these things. And not, is making it uneasy of trusting him with my good tools.
Again, all of this talk about “I’ll git GM on u if u dont gimmie mah toolz!!” is quite silly (and stupid). I’ve been with Tulsi long enough to know that I can trust him. The only reason he hasn’t given them back is probably because he’s upset at himself (or at me). I just need to talk him into giving them back to me without incident.

I’m probably just going to have to be patient. He’ll give them back with no issues, surely (as long as I give him the space he needs). Making him mad by trying to get him to give back the tools, would only make things worse.
