I had a restless sleep, waking up thinking about all the things I could’ve done in AoE (and then realizing I got rid of it). Perhaps this is the five stages of grief I’m going through.
But can you blame me? I have been playing that thing for over a month, non-stop. And now it feels like literal drugs (and not the good kind). All I can do is just keep telling myself that I did the right thing. Maybe by Christmas, I would be at Stage 5: Acceptance.
It just feels like, even despite the depression and frustration, that I just need to keep going. But the problem is, I just can’t. I can’t without bitching to the AoE Discord about how this or that doesn’t work as I want it (that and watching others pull far ahead of me, wishing I was them, and then seeing how ‘ugly’ their base is for being above ground).
Some people have compared AoE to Factorio. And in ways, I could agree. Both are very complicated. Yet the only thing that got me into that game, is the automated train systems you can set up. That pack doesn’t have them (as it doesn’t have Railcraft). Which really confuses me, since wasn’t the ‘Railroad age’ part of the actual Engineering ages?
If it actually had Railcraft, then I would likely come back to it. Because I could actually spread my base out (and make it feel more modular). Having a rail system deliver not just myself, but things like Iron Plates to another part of the base to be processed. Now THAT would be worth coming back to!

In other news, Deedplanner got updated a week ago to 2.8.10 (finally). And it contains the much-wanted changes to bridges I’ve been waiting for a good long time.
Though, as with any update, it’s not without bugs. One is seeing this on the two bridges connected to the central raised pillar the token’s on. I’m worried this thing is going to be the same ingame. Seems to only happen when the bridge is four tiles long. Plus I’m getting an error relating to having ‘access denied’ to Objects(doesn’t seem to affect the app though).
I don’t know how to go about testing if this thing happens in the game, without tearing down one of the bridges. Only thing I can think of, is to just try the entire redesign project. I mean, surely I wouldn’t actually have this problem in the game.. I hope. Only way to know is to try.
