Another VRChat reaction blog, but with my full opinions

Yes, I said the last one would be “the last”, but this time I mean it, as I have something to get off my chest. There are critics who say that the reason I got into VRChat, was because of someone having ‘dragon’ in their name. And I need to set the record straight, by giving the critics a single video response.
(Video response in link)
So hopefully that should clear things up. But if not, then the answer was NO. The person with the dragon name is not the reason I got into the game, it was their content. Granted, I probably wouldn’t had clicked on it if it wasn’t for the name, but sometimes there are people who have no videos at all… but I digress.

I did actually (though indirectly) meet Darian yesterday while hanging out in Best Boi lands for most of yesterday. And guess what? I never embarrassed myself by saying “OMG, DARIAN! I came to VRChat because of your videos!”.. and there was a damn good reason for that. I never expected them to A, have multiple My Little Pony models, and B, using a sound modifier to mask their real voice (to where it sounds like they are high on Helium).
The way Darian acted, and the way (who I assume are the regulars from the Discord server) were acting around it, staying quiet IMO was the best course of action.
Darian can be quite the party animal, though. Telling jokes (that most of them went over my head), or I laughed with them of not knowing what we were laughing about. It also has a pretty huge collection of songs (with some quite questionable(as in, ruining childhood levels of questionable)), to really good songs with an excellent beat to jam on.

Later that day, I also saw one of the cutest things when I was there, someone named ‘TriggerPull’ joining of who looks like a baby Best Boi(that I’ve seen in one of Darian’s videos). It’s sitting there hopping and reaching out to the other Best Boi’s, trying to get one of them to pick it up. It’s just so adorable. I wonder who the parents were. Maybe it’s a lost orphan, taken in by these guys.
I was also ‘babysitting’ it (with another Best Boi) while we were in another world, of a large Spanish-style ship. And Trigger loves to grab sharp things that could hurt him (yet doesn’t really care).
Its crawling animation is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.

.
But enough about them, I need to talk about what I think of VRChat as a whole (and also opinions on certain areas of the game).
And overall, I’m starting to get bored with it. Infact I wasn’t sure if I wanted to log in at all yesterday. The only thing that motivated me was to hopefully one day be in the same world to see the knuckles legend, ScrungusBungus and all of his hilarious models. Sadly I never did yesterday.
The next thing I wanna talk about, is something I’m getting a bit annoyed with (at the game, not the players that do it). When I see people able to switch models on the fly.
I’m just so, so curious where these people are being able to do this. I know that you can make your own model (by having Unity knowledge and stuff like that), yet I’ve seen this one Pokemon model get used quite a lot, and seeing the person being able to switch to another model (without leaving and getting that model from another world).
What is their secret(besides stealing other’s work)? I must know.
All I can hope for, is an option like this would be added sometime in the near future. After all, the game is in Early Access. Anything’s possible.

And the final reason I’m getting bored, is.. well, that feeling of jealousy of others having VR. Such as fellow Best Boi’s in Cowboi models, able to take off the hat and pull out the gun. These (and more(like being able to rotate an object)) are things I would love to do, but I can’t without VR. And it irks me so much. It almost makes me feel ‘left out’ at times.
I was in another world, where it’s dark and there’s lots of room (and mountains), and a campfire in the middle, and I was telling my fellow Best Boi’s (who were using VR in my face), that “I don’t feel spending $600 on something that you put on your head, is worth it”. One of them said “you can get an Occulus for $400, it’s worth the money.” While the other warned that in order to feel I got my money’s worth, to play other VR games (which makes perfect sense to me, and I said this to them).

Now, $400 is quite shocking of a price for a VR headset. But, I’ve read somewhere that you need a pretty good computer to handle 60FPS in VR(with games like Job Simulator). And with my current setup.. that’s not exactly possible. And I’m not even sure if this future Ryzen 5 2600 (coupled with my GTX 750 Ti), would have enough power for VR games.
And there’s a final stipulation… pretty sure my room isn’t VR ready. I would be able to move my chair out of the way, but that’s as much room as I can get. I feel I’ll end up smacking the side of my computer while attempting to dance to someone’s music.
“It would be funny, if it weren’t, so sad.”
But if I ever do get a VR headset, Elite: Dangerous in VR would be the next game I’d definitely play. To feel I could actually reach out and touch a planet, would be so wild. .. And yes, I would also play Subnautica in VR. HOLY FUCK when a Reaper Leviathan shows up and I’m in my little Seamoth!

So, that’s about it. I dunno if I’m going to play this game as much as I have been. Sure, chatting with friendly strangers on the internet is fun. But when nothing is really happening, you start to wonder why you’re even playing.
I hope I’m not the only one that feels this. VRChat is great, but there’s not really much you can do right now (apart from making new friends, and patting people on the head).

But actually, there is one thing I’d like to do (if I had the knowledge to do everything in order to do it properly). I would like to make videos of my adventures and post them in with my unlisted videos (and then linking them in here).
The recording part should be easy enough, to just use something like Fraps (or OBS) and record at 30FPS.
The editing/rendering part…not so easy (especially not as anywhere as it was with Sharefactory for the PS4). This has been a problem with me, for a very.. very long time. And even more so, is my unwillingness to learn how to use something like Sony Vegas. I just don’t have the patience to know what all of those tiny knobs and other doohinkies do (let alone know how to render the damn thing).
Inb4 someone with years of experience responds with “oh it’s easy to learn!”

VRChat Shenanigans – My second day

This’ll probably be the last time I do these types of blog posts, but I have learned more about the game today.
1. You lose any custom avatars you’re wearing when logging out (unless you made them yourself, or got them through other means). The only way to get them back is to re-visit the world that had them.
2. After much trial and error, I finally figured out how to throw things while using a mouse. I was quite confused when it meant to hold your right mouse button and then release. I assumed it meant to release the left button. Instead you release the right button to throw the object(while keeping the left button held down). This has caused my hand to cramp up (especially when bowling).
3. Brings me to my 3rd thing I learned. There are actual games in this game, such as bowling. Except it’s kind of buggy at the moment (and doesn’t use RL physics that well). The pins themselves, the reset button gets buggy to where it’s no longer dropping all ten pins.
4. I cannot join a world that has more than 25+ people in it(depending on how popular said world is), as this eventually becomes hard on my CPU as more people join. Thankfully I can join a less populated version of the world to ease the stress, but eventually I have to quit and restart the game to clear the cache (much like what I had to do in Minecraft(when I had 8GB), when memory usage gets too high).

As for what I did today… actually not much. I’ve been staying away from the Best Boi world ever since I was invited to join their Discord. This is probably silly and not true at all, but something is telling me that if continue to enjoy this model, they’re going to implore that I join them (as the guide yesterday mentioned about a meeting, and asked if I heard it). And you know me, with my irrational fear of “being tied down”.
I get that they would want me to join, showing interest in their culture and stuff, but I just care to show interest in my own way. I’m not interested in joining a Guild, thanks very much. I’m hoping they’ll simply allow this.

I went to Uganda for the first time (as this strange goat-like humanoid creature that I got from another world). It was a bit sparse, with this Goku knuckles saying this other knuckles has “something wrong with him” and telling anyone to kill him. I also got questioned twice by the same guy, if I “need Ebola”. I said I was good, and thanks anyways. Glad it worked instead of him spitting on me.
This small blob person a bit later, is begging me to tell him where I found the skin I’m wearing. I said it’s in “a forbidden land” (that I couldn’t remember the name). And he’s all “please.. I’ll (RETRACTED) your (RETRACTED) if you tell me where you got it!” For one, you’re a guy. And you’re also a kid… uh, no thanks. Keep your NSFW to yourself.

I also played Deathrun, something I’ve only seen Vanoss and his friends do in Gmod. Now there’s a VRChat version, with lots of people playing death and lots of runners. Overall, I fully got to the ending three times, and managed to trap other players (when I was death) about six times. I also remember this one guy calling me “Mister Ben” for some odd reason. Though I don’t think it was completely directed at me, as I heard him using this phrase on someone else.
There’s another thing I was exposed to; the vote kick on several people that were either ‘hacking’ or being just plain annoying. A new ‘no’ symbol pops up next to your mic activity level, indicating there’s been a world vote on this one particular person if they should be kicked from the world or not. You can alternately just Block the person if they’re an annoyance to you (such as people who spam really loud music).
I find the Block option more useful than kicking, to be honest. There were a few bad eggs there.

And as I said, I was all “Let’s go bowling!” like that annoying guy in GTA4. My main gripe with this, is there aren’t enough lanes for everyone to play. Often I had my lane stolen by someone else. If they made the place close to real life (where there’s about 30-40 lanes), then we’re talking!
Bowling works the same way as it does in real life.. well, at least the way I was playing it (before I self-taught myself how to throw using a mouse). It was quite embarrassing, watching the ball inch its way towards the pins. I’m go glad I learned how to bowl correctly. Brings back memories of going to the bowling alley just up the street from my school, and never being able to roll the ball like the pros do it.
Reminded me of that episode of The Angry Beavers, of Dag teaching Norb how to bowl. That’s me in a nutshell.
Others however, weren’t exactly bowling correctly. Some where going past the line, while this one guy in VR is pretending that this is ‘golf’ (by smacking one bowling ball into another). Was funny.
I do like when someone gets a strike, their bowling ball turns into a fireball. That’s pretty badass.
One random thing I do want to comment. As I was bowling, I’m hearing someone in the background playing the “How ba-a-a-ad can I be?” song(from The Lorax). I tried to contain myself from adding on by singing “You’re just ruining Net Neutrality!” It’s a reference to the video that has Ajit Pai’s face as The Wonceler.

But possibly the best thing of the day, was joining this one world of a suburban house. I’m outside in an orange-furred ‘Cowboi’ model (finally manned up and went back, hoping I could convince anyone who asks if I joined their Discord server yet), hearing people chatting up a storm upstairs. I didn’t really want to disturb their conversation, so I walked around and even went in the house a few times. Some of them ran down, doing their own things.
This lasts for about ten minutes, until I hear someone abruptly say “Wait, I see a wild furry!” Originally I thought they were talking about someone else, until I see everyone running out of the house and stopping infront of me, with a single person holding a camera in my face…it was like that scene in Lucas the Spider of the human staring at him while the poor huge-eyed spider is trapped in a wine glass.
“They’re looking at me.” *looks around for a way out*.. “Hiii!”
Abit embarrassing (while also funny) when I look back at it. The camera person also bent down and patted my head. That was… nice, and I commented about it. Decided to hang out with this group of misfits ’till it was time to go to bed.
I do remember seeing that camera before. That’s a live streaming camera I’ve saw other Youtubers use, which means your boi might be on someone’s Youtube channel. 🙂
(I do apologize for all the adults out there I may have facepalmed for using the word ‘boi’ like that. I will no longer use it)
What the hell is happening to me, people? Ever since I got into VRChat, I feel like a kid again. I mean it’s good to feel young when you’re old, but I don’t know if I of all people should be seeing this with my virgin eyes.

.
I also have an update about the issue I reported of the videos in the Help Videos world not working. I got a pretty fast response from VRChat Support, in just under an hour after reporting it (but I never checked my emails ’till later in the day), stating it’s a known issue and it’ll be fixed in the next update. Yet if it’s so known, how come I didn’t see more related responses when I was checking Google? Just how well known is this bug?
“Questions science still cannot answer” right here, folks.

On top of it, the person also gave me the same workaround that I showed them from a link I found of my initial Google search, that gave no results to fix the problem. Even went as far as taking a pic and sending it to them.
I await their next response, with great anticipation.

VRChat Shenanigans – My first day

You guys asked for it (for some strange reason), and I shall deliver of what happened last night in VRChat.
It started when I came back on after spending an hour on the MRT Server (for a few games). I was in The Hub, and a guy approached me saying “Bernie, I voted for you” or something like that. Maybe he thought I was Bernie Sanders? Or maybe it could had been someone from the MRT Server (who recognized my name). Who knows.

Checking out the worlds, and found the world of the Best Boi. I’m kind of confused wondering if this is the official world (about them in cowboy outfits), but I go in anyway.
Soon as I pop in, I feel like a kid again freaking out that I remember this place from DarianTheDragon’s videos and stuff. My brain feels like “OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!! I’M ACTUALLY IN THEIR WORLD!! EEEEEE!! :D”, seeing a few of those Best Boi creatures walking around and stuff. Am I weird for showing my ‘inner furry’? I hope not.
I listened into this one conversation where this guy is asking several of them of what they are. One of them says they’re like a mix of a human and a fox. Interesting. I also saw where you can become one of them, and quickly picked one of the models. Again my brain is going ballistic. The kid in me finally has a place to call home.

Did calm down a bit, enjoying myself and speaking to anyone who spoke to me. This is the best god damn avatar in the game, IMO. I also got a grand tour of Best Boi culture by one of the staff (‘Creepery201’). He’s quite friendly. He showed me pictures he (and others) drew on DevantArt and they’re ingame. Thankfully NSFW isn’t allowed here.
He showed me these two new areas I never saw. One of a wild west theme (with a debate of if it was a desert or a valley), and the other of green mountains that you can run around freely.
He tried to get me to join their Best Boi Discord, which I might do (but kind of unsure at this moment). And finally he showed me that hilarious flopping around model in the video I posted. Its location is secret, but since he liked me, I was allowed access. But honestly, I don’t see how they managed to keep it a secret for this long. It’s almost obvious.

Spent more time in their world. A 1950’s Goofy model appeared, dabbing infront of me(was cool of seeing someone with a VR Headset). This is the future of video games, guys. Embrace it.
We also had a huge Knuckles show up– my ‘first test’ to show them that I too wish to join the war against Ugandan Knuckles(my brain laughing like a 10 year old). The large red Knuckles was trying to tell us (though at times the voice they used was illegible) that they didn’t want a war and wanted to live in peace, but the Best Boi’s will have none of that.
We chased him through the areas, and I used the Knuckles kick emote on him. Was quite hilarious seeing everyone running after this guy.

With that done, a few of the Best Boi’s headed to the open mic night world (with one of them planning to dance around with that buggy model). Never saw the dance, but I did see a few Ugandan Knuckles walking around, trying to “show teh wae”. I mentioned what happened with this in the previous blog post (but not fully). One time a woman shows up and the kid says “My queen! Help me my queen!”… again I’m laughing like a 10 year old. Ugh. 😛
Is this embarrassing to act like this, when I’m supposed to be a 41-year-old? I dunno. I really hope not. But we managed to make this kid ragequit. Heh, what you get for supporting a dead meme.

Eventually got bored here (no one was singing or telling jokes on stage) and went my own route. Checked out this New York Times Square one. About 8 people were here, three of them were speaking in a foreign language.
This small girl approached me, saying “Benie..?” I’m all “Hey there” (being my asocial self of talking to strangers). I can’t remember the full conversation, but it was something about myself not knowing what a certain word meant in Swedish. There was also this small dinosaur-like creature hanging out with her. I believe this represents one of the Digimon (a show that aired in the early 2000’s). Basically a Pokemon wannabe.

The Digimon character suddenly wanted us to follow them into another world. Stepped through the portal, and I can feel my CPU screaming at me. It was the bar/pub world that I’ve seen videos of. The number of people here was quite taxing on my CPU. I could barely move with 10FPS. Someone was also trying to talk to me, but it was so garbled that I couldn’t understand it.
I had to get out of there before my game crashed. Went back to the Help Videos world, which is where I started posting my “Wow.. this game is something” response.

The Dragon’s Misadventures – Diving into VRChat

I finally took the plunge and installed VRChat. Why? It wasn’t because of the dying Ugandan Knuckles meme, but from a series of videos made by ‘DarienTheDragon'(who has a My Little Pony avatar). This person featured these videos exploring the lives and culture of these strange animal-like creatures (basically another form of a furry) that are half the height of a normal human being.
Their big white eyes and the way they walk, for some reason it just strikes a cord of ‘cute’. It just feels like this could be an actual race of these people, somewhere in the universe. I’ve been curious on this strange suit some of them wear. At first I assumed it was a germ-proof suit to protect them when they’re outside of their world, instead I discover it’s a form of armor for their endless war against the Ugandan Knuckles.
But the reason what really made me push to get into this game, is this video of showing some strange courting dance (or maybe a dance of celebration).
And yes, I saw the random dragon hovering in the distance, but I wasn’t focused on it.

So now I’m ingame. It detected I use Steam (and it’ll actually use ‘Benie’ as my ingame name. Awesome). During the calibration/movement stage, I did start to feel a slight motion sickness due to the ridiculously high mouse sensitivity. I also cannot have custom keybinds (have to use WASD instead of my arrow keys). Might try to circumvent this with AutoHotkey if it becomes a problem for me. Right now I’m OK with it.
Got out of the tutorial area and to the ‘Help Videos’ world. It has several doors here, linking to individual platforms suspended high in the air. I went for the one to teach me the user settings (in hopes to tweak the god awful mouse sensitivity).
A display popped up infront of me saying it was loading a video… waited and waited on this ‘Media Loading…’ screen and nothing was happening. I see the same thing happening to the other videos.
Checked Google and all I’m seeing are videos not playing “in worlds”, instead of the Help Videos world that I’m having an issue with. There is a claimed workaround, but when I tried it, I didn’t see the things I needed to delete.

The only thing I had left is to ask in Steam’s VRChat Discussion Board, which I’m still waiting for a response. I also joined the VRChat Discord, but they seem to have quite the security, requiring a staff member to approve myself to post (and saying it could take up to a day, due to if they’re busy).
The only thing I can do is to just ignore this problem and play the game, using the knowledge I got from all of those VRChat Youtube videos I watched. And that’s basically what I did.

Wow.. this game is something. It’s like watching (in realtime)… every VRChat-related Youtube video in order. I’ve been playing for nearly two hours, and I could explain word for word of what happened during those two hours. But since this blog post is long enough, I might save it for another.
All I can say is, I felt welcomed into the community. I’m a Best Boi, and really enjoy being one. Though I’ll probably switch my avatar to a dragon (if I could find the world that has them).
I have two favorite parts. The first one is following some fellow Best Bois into the open mic night world. One of them was going to dance around with that hilarious model I saw of the video I posted in here. Before I knew it, we were all chasing after one Knuckles telling him how the meme is dead and we would blow up Uganda. Remember it’s just for laughs, guys.
The second part is teleporting to the New York Times Square. A blue Knuckles approached me and was all (in the Ugandan accent) “do you no teh wae Best Boi?”, and I said “of course I know the way”. And he responds with “Good.” Again, it felt this was coming straight out of those Youtube videos (but happening to me).

I.. LOVE this. Yet I don’t know why. I guess it feels like(if I haven’t said it enough already), I’m in someone’s Youtube video (or doing my own Youtube video). I can see why content creators who put this game in their channels, get lots and lots of views.
This game gives me the feeling of “being young again”. It feels great, and I think that I found one of my favorite games. Though, this game isn’t without its flaws;
1. No option to join only English-speaking worlds. Often I’ve been placed in a world where they’re speaking in a foreign language (and expecting me to understand it).
2. Worlds with lots of people(no matter the size of the world), shows just how crappy my CPU is. Not only is my framerate nearly unplayable at times, but hearing robotic-like sounds of people talking(and/or gets cut off).
3. As mentioned, a lack of mouse sensitivity. Though I no longer feel motion sickness, thankfully. Guess my body decided it’s OK.

Yet these three complaints aren’t game-breaking to me. I’m having a lot of fun actually socializing with strangers (and feeling like I have a purpose). It’s so wild seeing people’s names I remember seeing on some videos. And I would probably flip if I saw my name in someone’s video.

.
.

EDIT: I now have full access to the VRChat Discord, only to be told that I would need to send a support ticket to support@vrchat.com. I also still haven’t gotten a single response of the thread I made about the issue. I have linked the thread to my support ticket, including a detailed as I can make it response about what I was seeing (including giving them my computer specs).
It isn’t that big of a deal, but having an issue that it seems very few others are having.. is kind of disturbing. Not knowing what is causing said issue, almost feels like an obsession to try to do so.

Trophy hunting in Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition

When the PoNR looms over your head (or at least you assume it is), going trophy hunting by attempting to complete all side quests might be a must for you.
Except these side quests can be quite frustrating. Half of them are kill quests, and half are collection. And I’ll be talking about the collection side quests.
‘Book of the Dead’ and ‘Sticks and Stones’. Both require you to find nodes scattered in the entire game. Some are easy to find (seen in plain sight), or hiding behind something. There’s even some that require you to work for it, or are inaccessible to reach ’till you get later in the game’s campaign.
But what makes these quite annoying, is how they were structured. Instead of showing you got this and that one, you have to look online and find videos showing the locations of these nodes.. and painstakingly backtrack to verify you got these.

Even with these super helpful videos, a lot of folks are missing those last two nodes to complete the quest (and get the trophy). This is the super annoying part, especially when you’re absolutely positive you got this or that node. Unfortunately, you cannot confirm until you check yourself (and then realize it’s one of the two you needed).
I’m not sure why they chose this style when it came to collection quests. It’s garbage. And the percentage of others that went through the same hell you did to complete the damn thing, speaks volumes. An example is the 1.2% ‘Ultra Rare’ trophy of gathering all 40 pages of the Book of the Dead. Thankfully collecting the pages rewards more than two trophies. Finding 10 in each level and turning them in to the quest giver, gives you a special key that you can unlock a ‘Death Tomb’, filled with goodies (weapons, armor, and coins). Managed to get a few Possessed weapons from the 3rd one.
Sticks and Stones is a bit worse, requiring you to find 69 small stones of three types: In total, there’s 34 ‘Stone of Mystics’, 25 ‘Stone of Power’ and 10 ‘Stone of Resistance’. These stones have a distinct sound when you’re close, but to find the small pieces of shit is another thing. I’m 67/69 currently. I know where one is, but I cannot get to it at this moment (as it’s in a multi-leveled maze.. and you know how much I love mazes). The other one is highly eluding me. It’s quite frustrating, after I had just done a thorough sweep a few days ago.
Managed to find several I didn’t get, but not enough to get the one that’s eluding me. Now I’m forced to do another thorough sweep. This is ridiculous!

Subnautica OST available FREE on YouTube!

Subnautica, such a beautiful game. And if you’ve been following it’s Early Access shenanigans since the very beginning, the devs have a special treat for all of their supporters and fans of the game.
To celebrate the first two weeks after the successful launch, the devs have released the OST(Official SoundTrack) on their YouTube channel, for free!
However… there is a bit of controversy surrounding the release of the OST. The lead sound designer (who did the OST), ‘Simon Chylinsky’, was fired for multiple inappropriate words from his personal Twitter page, that are against the company’s policy. Most people are finding this firing being wrong, which is quite reminiscent of what happened last year, with JohnTron having an opinion that differed with Yuka-Laylee‘s devs. Except that guy is a YouTuber, this guy worked for the company (and as so, their words are to be kept at a higher standard).
Simon will not sue the company, according to sources for releasing the OST (and his firing).

For easy access, I’ve posted the links to the first ten songs in here. More of the OST is promised to be released “throughout the week”, so watch this post for more links;
Subnautica Soundtrack – 1: Salutations
Subnautica Soundtrack – 2: Into The Unknown
Subnautica Soundtrack – 3: Tropical Eden
Subnautica Soundtrack – 4: God Rays
Subnautica Soundtrack – 5: In Bloom
Subnautica Soundtrack – 6: Precipice
Subnautica Soundtrack – 7: Sun & Moon
Subnautica Soundtrack – 8: Finding Life
Subnautica Soundtrack – 9: Crush Depth
Subnautica Soundtrack – 10: What Are You
(Watch this space for more links in the coming week)

If you haven’t already and would want to purchase the game, you may do so through Steam. Though I am curious how this firing would affect future sales (if any).

Always fear The Reaper, Darksiders II: Deathinfinite Edition

This is a followup (and it’s own post) of what I said in one of my recent blog posts about this game. It’s actually a great game, and the boss fights feel really rewarding once you defeat them (at least some of them do). There are some bosses that are quite easy to dodge their attacks, and go down quickly. In the later states of the game, you got raid-style bosses that keep throwing adds at you while also attacking. And these fights have several stages.
Dying, which is pretty ironic as you’re playing as the Grim Reaper, the only time it’s punishing is during these boss fights (and special encounters), as you have to do them again. But I’m not saying “this is like Dark Souls”.
Even these mini-arena encounters (when doors and passageways get blocked off suddenly) can be quite … insane with the number of mobs on the battlefield. It’s amazing how well this game is optimized for the PS4, but I’m not a fan of losing my sense of orientation when in fierce combat. I can be there slashing in the air infront of me, while most of the mobs are behind me. It can be crazy sometimes.

I do have one major complaint though, and that are these very, highly random game-breaking freezing/crashes I get while playing. I’m wondering if these are heat-related crashes, as for several hours I could have no crashes (or I can have three of them 10-30 minutes apart). I keep reporting the crash in hopes of a fix, but I don’t see that likely anytime soon.
But I’m sure the devs appreciate the crash reports and are (hopefully) trying to work on a fix, but it’ll probably take a long time.

But anyway, like most games I get stuck on my first level, there’s the awesomeness of video walkthroughs (such as this one, from ‘Jerzku’sGames’). I’ve mainly been looking for one that tries to open all the chests (and how to get over to them).
His walkthroughs are unique. Instead of level by level, he records 1-2 hours of footage. I’m currently on Part 6 of 13, a long way to go ’till I complete it.

There is also this unlimited money/items cheat that I noticed. The original video (seen here if you’re curious) was made two years ago. Of course one’s initial thought would be “it’s probably patched by now”. Yet comments made months (if not weeks) ago are hinting otherwise. Even the guy who discovered this glitch, responded to me saying it still works.
The reason I’m even bringing this up, is I’ve been going by this ‘age old rule’ people have told me when playing RPG’s; “don’t worry about your gear until you’re a certain level.” Also to “not buy ‘vendor gear'”. And I’ve been trying to stick to this rule during my playthrough of this game, but it’s been quite hard. And unfortunately I have to go against it, only to be bit in the ass a level later by an Uncommon(Green) being better than the purchased Epic(Purple) item. Though I have managed to get my hands on a few Legendary(Yellow) weapons.
Finally there’s the Possessed(Orange) weapons, which grow in power from sacrificing other weapons and gear pieces. To balance, they can only be upgraded to a certain point and then reach their max potential.
Now as for the mentioned glitch (sorry that I got carried away like that), I won’t tell you how it works (for the video shows how to do it), but I’m tempted to do it (just to get my hands on some Possessed weapons). Yet it runs the risk of bricking my save. Though I can back it up thankfully.

Overall, good game that does recommend to take a few breaks every now and then (to make the pain in your hands go away). Not much else to say about it.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, my thoughts

Just completed the game, with a huge thank you to YouTuber ‘TheSeraphim17’ and his very helpful (no kills/no spots) walkthrough series. He’s also the same one that helped me through Dishonored 2.
This game causes the console fan to run quite hard, so making my room’s temp a balance of keeping the fan noise at a tolerable level while also making sure the room doesn’t get too cold, has been quite the challenge.

So where to start about my thoughts with this ‘DLC’. Hmm.. I guess with Pros and Cons?
Pros..
-Billy Lurk feels alive (and quite likable) with her dialog, and even starts to feel remorseful for the Outsider (non-lethal path only).
-This is a pro-ish thing, but like Dishonored 2(which doesn’t factor in what the player did in the last game), this game’s dialog with Billie and Daud, never mentions Emily or Corvo. The only mention is in Billie’s notes of being surprised Emily didn’t kill her for the death of her mother (and dropping her off), but no mention of Corvo anywhere. Perhaps, they assumed most people were playing as Emily instead of Corvo.
-Some of the levels are pretty cool. Good level design.
-Even with the walkthrough, there are parts in the game where you might have to come up with your own strategy to get around an area (if the AI refuse to do what was in his recording, and he even warns when these points happen).

Cons..
-“I’m just going to sit here for a good infinity and not bother moving.” -Some of the AI in the game
-The first mission could had been done in a better way. That’s all I can say without spoilers.
-The ‘Rat Whisperer’ ability of Billie, doesn’t seem all that helpful as the game claims. There was never a time in the walkthrough where the guy said “talk to these rats to unlock an easier way to get here”. It’s all optional.
(there’s a few more I want to add on this list, but it’s too spoiler’riffic to say. Nothing that gets on my nerves, though)

At the end, I feel cheated for not getting that typical ‘Clean Hands’ achievement/trophy(for not killing anyone in your entire playthrough). Yet going over the trophy list(WARNING: Main Mission Spoilers), the closest thing is ‘Agent of Mercy’, to complete a single mission without killing anyone.
Wow.. a whole mission. Probably not the first to say WTF, Bethesda?! I want my Clean Hands, FFS! I fucking EARNED it!! D:{

Because of the AI issues, and also how it was only five missions long, I feel the $30 pricetag isn’t worth it. Though if it was $20-25, I might consider. The game just felt rushed, yet I also feel this game pretty much (what I feel) closes the Dishonored series as a whole (as the Outsider is eventually dealt with at the end by the player).
However, you might feel the $30 is justified. But before you do, consider renting like I did. That way you won’t feel you’re stuck.

So many games, dunno which to buy/play

I’m sure most of you gamers have gone through this scenario, with so many good games out there yet not knowing what to buy (let alone play). I’m kind of bored with Wurm (and exploration in it) right now. Plus as I said I need the to recover and prepare for the final server (Xanadu). It won’t be as quick that the other servers have been.
I’m also waiting for the next (hopefully) major Astroneer update this month.

I’ve been pretty much playing anything that suits my fancy. A few days ago (after finally getting into my PS4 and discovering that dust isn’t the issue with it sounding like a 747 taking off when on load), I was playing Darksiders II: Deathinfinite Edition (which was free last month on PS+). Its RPG elements(including stats on armor), I’m not really a fan of. Though it’s still a great game, with.. holy hell, Dark Souls-like boss battles (with the thing constantly in your face). They are quite challenging (and fun.., yes I said ‘fun’).

This month’s PS+ games are two games I’ve recently rented (and completed) from Gamefly: Knack and RiME. In addition, I’ll be getting Dishonored: Death of The Outsider soon’ish.

Dan showed off three amazing games;
Freeways | This is right up my alley when it comes to Interstates and shit like that. It’s a 2D game, where you make roads connecting to several areas. These lines can be highways and interstates, and you have to make it as efficient as humanly possible.
Think of it like a 8-bit, 2D Bridge Simulator.
Megaton Rainfall | A game I won’t be buying anytime soon (with my current hardware), but holy fuck this game. You can pretty much be Superman (in 1st person), and save humanity from invaders of a lifesize ratio of Earth). The trick is to use your God-like superpowers responsibly(which Dan clearly does not). Complete missions and unlock new superpowers, including one that allows you to leave the Milky Way (and visit systems in other galaxies). All planets are landable as well.
That is SO BADASS!! 😀 Eat your heart out, One Man’s Lie.
Tracks – The Train Set Game (Vid 1 / 2) | Dan first talked about this in May of 2017(see Vid 1), when it was in Alpha. It’s now in Beta, and looks a lot better. Start with a straight piece and build a simple loop, or a sprawling network out of simple wood, then enter 1st person and drive on it. Build towns, bridges, tunnels and stations, and actually have passengers board and exit your wooden train.

That final game is something I can’t get my mind off of. It’s simple, yet feels so chill and relaxing (especially when your life is stressful). It’s very easy to get started, and even build your first town. The only real limits are your imagination (and of course how big you can make your rail network).
Plus the $10 pricetag is very tempting. However, from what feels dirt cheap compared to the high quality and fun this game would give me, I also feel the $10 can go on far more important things (such as saving up for that new hardware).

.
There’s also another game I’ve been thinking of, yet at the same time also wondering if it’s ‘a good idea’ to even play it again. It’s not an EA game or anything like that, but a game I stopped playing a few months ago.
If you guessed Minecraft (namely Age of Engineering), you would not be incorrect. Like, OK. So I’ll just watch the rest of Dire’s videos and make notes of what to do. Easy-peasy. Yet I keep being reminded on just how ‘awesome’ my base looks, and how I said that eventually I would put myself into a corner and not know how to get out.
I wish I could look into the future, and see if I’m able to complete this pack.

…And finally, there’s the cancerous VR CHAT, home of Ugandan Knuckles, trying to “know da wae”. Even if you don’t have an expensive piece of hardware strapped to your head (that also recommends lots of space to move around), you can still play (for free).
Yes, it’s a F2P game. Though from what I’ve seen, it’s primarily a way for content creators to get views on YouTube.

And that’s about it for me. Quite curious to see what games this year gives us.

Inside – A game about worse things than spiders

What to say about this PS4 game, except it’s possibly the most stunning 3D-like 2D platformer I’ve ever seen that keeps wanting to be played.
Its plot is unknown, except you’re a boy trapped in the woods, miles from home. Unfortunately, you’re in the wrong place at the right time and start to uncover some sort of diabolical plot being done by other humans. And since they don’t know you, they assume you’re a spy and try everything they can to stop you (including sicking their dogs on you).

Farther and farther down the rabbit hole you go, you start to see their unethical experiments on fellow humans in the name of science. And there’s one point that I just said “o_O .. NOPE! This shit is going to give me nightmares, I just know it. Not playing this anymore!” And of course I was playing this game an hour before I went to to bed.
Zombies that can be mind-controlled by the player? I’m OK with it.
Some strange sea witch(that you can’t kill)? Annoying, but I’m OK with it.
A living blob of human flesh, with arms and legs coming out of it(that kind of looks like ‘The Crawling Spleen’ from The Angry Beavers? … NOPE!! Fucking nightmare fuel!

Even as I write this, I see that thing wiggling around, moaning and groaning, being able to grab stuff with its arms and legs (and being able to walk).. WTF HAVE WE CREATED?!?! Oh my god, and I thought that huge spider in the beginning of Limbo was scary.
I think I’m gonna be sick. …But anyway, this? This is a great game. There is only a single time it ever loads (minus waiting for the game to reload after a death). And the only gripe I have of it, as I was sitting on the title screen, waiting for a ‘press any key’ thing to popup (for a good 5 minutes). Tapped the X key thinking the game froze, and the game started. Wow.

Highly recommend this game to others (if you haven’t played it yet). The puzzles are great (some are easy, while others can take upwards of 10 minutes to figure out).
