Upcoming Steam sales (Un)officially announced via Twitter

Prepare your wallets, the BELLS have tolled! SHELTER your bank account, your eyes and your ‘poor’ status! EACH of you shall pay Gaben the final sum! CRY for mercy, the sales (will soon) …begun!!
BAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!

*clears throat* Right then. So there’s three upcoming Steam sales for the remainder of 2018, that have been unofficially announced via Twitter. Though I swear I haven’t seen this unofficial announcement, Pretty Good Gaming has with this article.
I hope this means some popular VR games will also be coming on sale, with the first
one (the Halloween sale) coming in just four days from now (on the 29th). This lasts ’till November 1st.
So get ready, kids. For this sale brings both Tricks and Treats. The ‘trick’ is to not empty your wallet.

To be clear, these are the three upcoming Steam sales for the remainder of this year;
Halloween Sale (EXPIRED)
October 29th – November 1st

Autumn Sale, covering Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday
November 21st – November 27th

Winter Sale, covering Christmas/Kwanzaa & Boxing Day/New Years
December 20th – January 3rd(2019)

Moving to Xan – should I actually do it this time?

So, the ‘something completely unrelated to this’ that I mentioned yesterday, is today’s topic of discussion. It seems many individuals aren’t bothered by the lag (which makes sense). But even people creating new deeds there, aren’t phased by it. Course, this could also be alts of mains.
This is the thread I made, about half an hour ago as I write this. I wanted it to sound professional, that I was serious about this.

Of course my mind is still on Tulsi, and angry’s boats that are in my deed. As for Tulsi, the best way to deal with him is wait ’till his non-prem account expires (then sell his rowboat).
…Angry’s boats on the other hand, are actually a bigger challenge. Once I disband DTH, his boats would start to decay. They need to be kept in a deed to prevent this (especially if he decides to come back in a few years from now).
I could get them out of there, and sail them to Tap Dance (with B2’s help). But, how in the fuck would he be able to get there? His horses are gone. His only option would be to die, and respawn in Tap Dance.
Another option is to contact Dark, and have him to take care of angry’s boats (and also brand Uma for me). Or maybe ask Wargasm to do it.

Anyway, this… isn’t going to happen ’till next year. It feels like a kick to my head as well, but I also have to balance this with VRChat. For some reason, I feel I have to owe friends a reason why I’m not in the game as much. My headset is actually physically painful to wear. It’s doing something to my forehead, which is either making it throb in pain or making it itch.
Plus, the game’s getting quite boring (even in VR). Yet I play it for these friends. You know how it goes.

Back to Wurm. I also said I wasn’t going to come back ’till the 7th. And I have to mean it. This is why I was weighing the thoughts of making that post. I just wanted to see if people would be nice enough to help me, and sure enough they are.
Why couldn’t I had just fucking stuck with the plan, instead of wanting to move? Just because the grass is clearly greener over there!? Or is it because I was bored?

*sigh*
Plus, finding a spot that matches all of my requirements, founding, thinking of a design for the deed, moving from DTH to the new spot, and building are going to take too much time and effort out of prepping for any future impalongs that happen (such as the Christmas impalong in Glasshollow that may or may not happen this year).
I’m just talking right now. I’m still unsure if moving to Xan is even a good idea. Given how it was in the past (as reported by certain people), but it does seem tamer than it was before.
Yet I also feel if I wait too long, the window of opportunity might close.

.
EDIT: Two people have given me clues of where to look, that closely match my requirements. Said to look in and around G-18 (which (I’m guesstimating) is about 1,200 or so clicks north of Dragonshearts’ Xan deed).
Half of me (the bored side) wants to go back to Xan and check this. The other half says “you should had waited and made that post next year”. Hell, I might check it out a few days after the LunaLong is over (once rested up from both impalongs).

LunaLong road mapping attempt #2, and other fun things

I got prem last night, and should have it ’till this day next month. The reason being (as said before) to make sure all my assets in Xanadu are secured (aka the bison).
Since I was home at the time, I was getting ready to throw the 5s into the deed upkeep. See that it’ll be active for 58 days; which would actually be 28 days to avoid decay. Discovered the time to throw more money in the deed, will actually be November 19th (instead of the 5th). Which is a few days after the LunaLong ends. Awesome! I love how that works for me! Impalongs past, I feared if my upkeep was paid as I wasn’t home.
As for travel time, with a breeze (not ‘light’ or ‘strong’)…
– 11 minutes from the server border to reach the mainland.
– 31 minutes from this point, to reach the wagon (took off a minute from this(was 32) due to server lag).
For a total of 42 minutes.

Managed to care for the 4th bison.. odd, says I can’t care for any more. Looks like I was actually right the first time, and uncaring for Uma was actually needed. I also forgot about the rune that I could buy to lower her age. So when I’m ready to care for her in Xan, I can use it and not have to worry about her croaking when taking her out of the cage.
As I was inroute to Kappa, just south of Whitefay used to be a deed called ‘Kittenhold’. Last time I was here, the structures were still here. Now, they’re gone, and you can loot nearly everything. There’s several statues at one part of this once deed; horses, dogs, and girls for what I could see. Helped myself to two statues of horse, one statue of dog, and one statue of girl. The wagon was able to hold it all, and I continued on the trek to Kappa.

It took approximately three hours (even traveling at night) to reach Kappa. On the way there, there’s another Rift event going to the ESE of me. I also ran into a guy who had died and using a horse to get back, claiming they threw down their tent.. yet they weren’t getting an option to respawn there. Wow.
Oof… reminds me of when I was lost on the top of that mountain. I feel even more thankful that it gave me the option, with how stressed I was.

So anyway, Kappa. Nice place. It’s located South and Southwest of Surefall Lake. I can see faster routes (off the highway system) to get here, once I near Lormere. Most look like old deed roads, but they should still be intact.
The impalong site, it took me a bit to find. It’s quite compact compared to other impalong sites that I’ve been to. Has three floors. It’s also the first impalong that has underground boat parking (from what I saw of the pictures). But since I’ll be using the highway system instead, this won’t apply to me.
It has two inns in extremely close proximity to the site; perfect for (extremely
slowly) getting SB back up.

So I logged off in one of the beds here (as it was dinnertime). When I get back and Sol rises, I’m planning to now head to Esteron, to check out the new route.
Came back, and it seemed I had done so at the perfect time. Person in kchat, offering to make three free 50QL smelting pots and give them away to whoever PMs (people in Xan are quite nice). Jumped at this and got it at 55QL. Actually paid for shipping (1c and 1i), but sweet! No questions asked (such as “are you new?”), too. Just how I like it.

Tried the new route to Esteron. 855m less of a journey than between NEXA Market and Kappa. Eventually got there. The ‘bypass route’ I remember taking from Lormere to get me there (when I was on Uma) is now officially part of the Xanadu catseye highway system.
It connects off of the Rome/Lormere highway (closer to Rome though). To reach Esteron, The Three-Legged Troll is still the gateway to it (and the rest of SE Xan).
And instead of seeing a series of bridges, is one very long N/S tunnel that continues just before the old route to Esteron (involves dodging veins). Then going along a few coastlines before finally connecting itself to SE Xan’s current highway system.
And this route is changed as well. Instead of going through a tunnel and crossing two bridges, you now go along another coast, then up to connect to the main highway.

Now in Esteron (properly), I’m getting bored and want to go back home. Three things happened on the way there;
1. The bison were hungry again. Stopped on the side of the road to let them graze. Random wolf sneaks up behind me and tries to bite. It dies.. and I get a free 20c coin. Nice!! Easiest 20c I’ve ever gotten!
2. Halfway back (on the TTLT-Whitefay Highway, bear attacks me. It’s a champ. He pissed me off, so I challenged him. Trying hard to keep focusing so I can change my stance to the head, and he keeps knocking it away from me (same as fighting a troll). Finally kill him with 50% health left. Yep, I just solo’d my first champ mob!
3. Champ troll shortly after. See it running into the hills, and try to go for it.. fucker turns around and gives chase. Only hits me once, managed to outrun and live to fight another day.

Finally back at my boat, safe and sound. Successfully transferred all the looted statue goods from the wagon to the boat (via unloading and loading), and sailed home (with a light breeze in my face).
A few feet from the private boat parking gate of DTH, I noticed a pretty large problem on the road between angry’s old place and my deed. Champ spider, with several regular ones. Where in the fuck did they come from?! Was this Enki’s doing? No matter. Time to pull out the industrial sized can of Raid and squish these bugs.
Hopped on Uma and got the momma champ spider over to the guard tower. She’s now dead, and so are her five ‘children’. No more mobs around me. Logged out to continue working on this, and publish it.
I’ll be back in Wurm (and Xanadu) on November 7th, for the NEXALong. By then, Wurm Winter will pass. Though, I’m contemplating of making a post in the Xanadu forum
about… something completely unrelated to this (but it’s nothing bad, just an inquiry).

NEXALong-LunaLong Road Mapping Blog

Loaded the bison/wagon up, thankfully remembering how to bypass the volume limit of the Knarr. NW strong wind to take me to Xanadu’s NE coast. As I’m slowly approaching Xan, I checked my animal list and see I had Uma cared for. Let her go, and noticed this;
‘You let aged fat Umawarrior go in order to care for other creatures. You may care for -2 more creatures.’
‘-2 more creatures’.. the heck? After asking if it’s a bug. It’s not. It’s actually something I forgot about… but, I don’t think it’ll be important at the moment. Basically, I forgot you have to have prem. AH is capped at 20 otherwise. Luckily, the game is forgiving to allow me to still care for what I was caring for (when I still had prem in August)… which, just reminded me that I can actually care for five animals, instead of four. And I just un-cared for Uma, who’s ven now… fuck.
Oh well. It’s only 40c more for a new 5 speed horse, right.. right?! Even after going through all of that awesome hell getting her branded on every PvE server in Wurm!!
FML.

Made it to Amish Groves in a half an hour since crossing the server. Unfortunately this place doesn’t have perms for guests to unload, so I found a spot just east of it (on a landbridge).
Unloaded my ven bison first, praying she wouldn’t die.. and she didn’t! WOOT! Caring For WORKS! Unloaded the others as dinnertime loomed, got them all hitched, loaded up the cages, and logged off for dinner in my boat.
Finished off dinner an hour later, watching The Nightmare Before Christmas (while waiting for Sol to rise). This took about nearly an hour as well. Soon Sol rose and I got back in the game. No mobs around when I went over to the wagon. It feels so weird, controlling this again, getting used to not even using a keyboard/mouse for a month (aka VR). But I made my way to the NEXA Mart, using the Xan community map.
Checking at the highway token here, this ‘Kappa’ deed is indeed linked to the network, and shows it was 8,456 meters away from this point. Moved away from it, going full
speed (while still watching the movie).
The movie ended as I was 1/4 the way into the Summerholt tunnel. Emerged, and started to have feelings of “this is stupid, why am I risking my life for this?”. Continuing to go down the road, infront of me are two greenish spiders. No guard towers, so I do my best to outrun them.

These feelings fill my head more and more, and then I stop. With no mobs around me, I look at what I wrote down. ‘8456m’ to Kappa. I seriously doubt I’m going to be any more “efficient” than letting Xanadu’s road network do it for me.. especially with how (still) outdated the community map is.
Also pondering if I should A: Get prem to care for all of these bison, just incase one of them decides to go ven when I’m away (and die on me before the 7th). And B: Risk bringing Uma here and re-care her.
Decided to go a bit further.. see a troll, turn back around and head to the boat. 😛 Not worth it! I need RL MONEY for PREM, damnit!!
As I’m heading back to the deed close of where my boat was, wondered if I should just ditch the wagon idea and go with a large cart instead, if it would be similar of its speed, and only requiring two animals (instead of four). But I reminded myself that bison have a bonus to wagons (possibly of maintaining their top speed a lot longer than a horse).

Almost back to my boat. Decided to check, if just incase.. that Esteron is finally connected to the highway system. And IT IS!!! WOOT! Didn’t check how far it would be (as I wanted to get home because Sol is setting).
Finally at my boat, time to head home. Think I might get prem tomorrow and come back in order to care for all the bison, just to make sure my plan won’t fail hard on me. Because the date of the other bison going ven, isn’t a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when’. And I just can’t take that risk.

Made it back home in the still of darkness. How still? A light breeze, in my fucking
face… all the way while trying to get out of Xan. It took, 45 minutes of sailing to leave Xan. Oof.

Two Impalongs back to back next month, and I’m prepping

Some Wurm news, a third Impalong has popped into existence (a week ago), called the ‘LunaLong’, in a deed called ‘Kappa’. This will be the first time the host has done an impalong, but has prepared for it a year in advance.
And this one is… interesting, for three reasons.
1. The NEXALong and this, are being held on the same server (Xanadu). Where the NEXALong is in NE Xan, this one is in SSW Xan.
2. One of the mats the impalong still needs, I could possibly fulfill (with some effort).
3. The LunaLong begins on the same day the NEXALong ends (the 11th), though as the NEXALong lasts for four days, this one lasts until the 17th (which is nearly a week).

The first and third ones are the most interesting, and gives me a feeling of “I need to deal with this now”; especially the first one. The fact that both impalongs are going to be held on the same server (and have highway system access linking the two), I want the wagon to be involved in this.
Here’s what I’m planning to do (for both). Steps 1 to 4 have to be done now, with Steps 5 to 9 to be done in November;
1. Tell friends in VRChat I won’t be active ingame between November 8th to the 17th, due to a “community event in another game” (as they wouldn’t understand what Wurm is). I doubt they’ll care, but I just want them to know before they start asking “where’s Benie?”, you know.
2. Immediately load up the bison/wagon and ship them over to Xan (where all four are cared for under me), and hitch them up close to a spot I’m planning to park my
boat (which would be very close to the NEXALong site).
3. Map out an efficient road route between the NEXALong and the LunaLong (via wagon). I’ll probably be verifying this (and other routes) several times. I could also use Uma for this step… but, the fact I can only care for up to four animals (right now) with my current AH level, this is my only option.
3a... The fact I won’t have prem, I’ll need to watch my ass and use every guard tower I see, to keep the mobs off me.
4. Once I feel I have a fast route mapped out, I’ll leave the bison/wagon at Xan (reason above), and then go back to my deed in Cele, log out and wait ’till November 4th.
5. I’ll need to get prem going before November 5th, as I’ll need to throw more silver into deed upkeep. Once that’s done, I’ll log off and wait ’till the night of the 7th.
6. Once that night comes, B2 and I will leave the deed with imping tools heading towards the NEXALong. No lamps this time, as I can imp them myself.
7. We’ll park near where I put the wagon, and use it wherever I need to (to get me around, such as when the staff show up to “Enki it up”).
8. On the 11th (the day the NEXALong ends), I’ll finish what I’m doing, then B2 and I will leave the boat there and use the efficient route I’ve mapped out to get to the LunaLong.
9. Once it’s over, we’ll head back to the boat, and head home (leaving the wagon again).

I love simple plans, for my simple brain. They are the simplest of plans. Look at how simple they are. Honest. #MSPGA(Make Simple Plans Great Again)

Now the second thing, that I could possibly fulfill one of the mats still needed for the impalong. The host needs 3k Peat, which is the exact equivalent of 10 full large crates.
I’ve thought about it for awhile. It’s definitely doable, but honestly I wouldn’t have the patience to do it, and I would assume someone (or a group) is already fulfilling that request.
I would have to make ten brand new large crates (because of decay and how this is a donation), then shovel (with B2), a fuckton of peat from the two deposits to the south of me, get them all in the crates, and ship them (with the bison/wagon) to the host.
That is going to be a lot more effort than I feel like doing. I want to help, but I also want it to feel like it’s worth it. Plus, I’ll need prem time (and I don’t know if I can afford it this month).
There are others out there, who are better equipped (mentally/have an efficient deed) at handling a job like this, than I am.

When having VR, goes too far (and people start blocking you)

Disclaimer: This post contains a lot of childish whining (and trying to deal with it). If you don’t wish to see it, don’t click on the spoiler.

Spoiler

First case of drama with VR. It was bound to happen eventually. And it’s also expected to have some form of drama happening in this month (usually IRL).

So, what’s going on? This has to do with the Trust and Safety system in VRChat. People everywhere are using it.. against me. All because I just wanted to have a little fun jumpscaring them– with these new Halloween themed hyena avatars of this world I found. Now that you can favorite up to three public avatars, I’ve been taking advantage of it.
One of my (now past) favorites, is Ethereal Yeen. All you see is its eyes. What’s cool… (but I also get why it gets annoying.. still, lighten up and stop being a pussy. It is Spooktober for a reason) is it’ll scream at you, play an obnoxious sound, and cause the world around it to change. But that’s the whole point in Spooktober.. right!? To stand next to your friend, casually look at them and then pop the scare! This is supposed to be funny!!
Apparently….. not to them. Because they block it, and it takes the fucking point out of having the avatar. That’s what it was designed to do!
Look, when I first used it, I thought “wow.. ok. This is going to be extremely annoying. I better not use this.” Then I see others doing it, and I’m thinking “OK, well.. I guess it’s not that annoying if others don’t mind it.”.. which is literally the same as the whole ‘jump off a bridge’ thing.
Hell, jumping off a bridge and hoping to break my neck has to be more worth it than what I’m feeling right now (like absolute shit). When your friends are blocking the avatar, and all you wanted to do was have a little fun!!

Is this not October? The month of being spooked? So why can’t people tolerate it?! I get certain friends blocking it (not everyone enjoys having their view suddenly being changed, and getting ear-raped).. but close friends!? That’s what stings the worst.
I could call them ‘fun haters’ all I want, but this isn’t solving the problem. And to say
to ‘put myself in their shoes’, it shouldn’t be fucking rocket science to know that they don’t want to see that when they’re trying to have a normal conversation.

My 12 year old brain doesn’t fucking understand what the words ‘stop’ or ‘enough’
mean (as they’re rarely said). It doesn’t even know when it’s about to cross a line until it’s too fucking late!! Again, I do NOT intend to annoy people!! But I guess I am..
That’s why I’ve gotten rid of those avatars, and gone back to my…bleh! Boring no fun allowed ones.
But at least.. hopefully, I’m no longer an ass (even though it’s fucking Spooktober).

[collapse]

Since then, a few other friends actually helped me to feel better, with the friend that blocked the avatar saying it was a mistake.

Today’s VRChat ‘Open Beta’ confusion (and resolution)

What a crazy (yet also embarrassing) day. What I assumed today’s VRChat release was an open beta (due to this), there was a lot of miscommunication. But it just so happened I was looking in the wrong spot (instead of the ‘Open Beta’, the date being the 12th… instead of today (the 16th)).
Started out like this;
*sees the VRChat Discord showing activity*
“Hmm, new update?” *checks* “Awesome! Time to tell ever– wait, why does it say ‘Open Beta’? Ok, I guess it’s a beta. Alright.”
*some time later, sees a few people in a world talking to eachother*
“So you guys opted into the beta too?”
*they look at me strangely”
“What beta?” / “There was a beta…?”
“Yeah! It was released today. Did you guys sign up for it?”
“Uhh.. no? I saw a release on Steam, that’s it.”
“…What?”
–Ended, like this (with an argument in the VRChat Discord’s ‘#vrchat-general’ channel)
*after finally discovering the date being four days earlier than today*
“Why wasn’t this changed…? Why does it show the 12th?”
“This is when the beta was out. There were no changes to it since then, so it got released. And with that, the devs felt rewriting the post would be a waste of time, so they kept it at that.”
“…Fine, fine. But I still don’t see anything about a beta in the announcements. Explain that!”
“Because it doesn’t get posted in the announcements… check the VRChat Beta section”
“………… I feel like a dumbass now.”

So, to clarify.. there is no current beta. What’s now released, was the beta at a time. And
honestly (from what I saw), there was no real need for a beta– apart from the changes to uploading worlds, but that’s all I can think of for needing a reason of it.

HDS 1 & 2 done with friends (in VR) — “I’m never doing the Teddy Challenge ever again!!”

A few days ago, I did Part 1 of the HDS with friends. Had a few issues (but none of them were related to my controllers);
1. In the Coffin Room, I got stuck on the side of the coffin (twice). 3rd time I finally got it.
2. After completing The Halls and the big door is available, I couldn’t click on it. You have to climb up the door and click on the frame. Never had that happen when I solo’d the dungeon.

Part 2, was quite frustrating. I dedicated myself to doing the Teddy Challenge (mainly because A: I wanted to be the hero. And B: I didn’t trust them to understand how important this is). Found out it’s even harder to do it. Not only can you not drop it, but you can’t hand it to another player.
A few other things I learned;
-Dropping the teddy, the next puzzle gets bugged (forcing a new instance to be made).
-The teddy occasionally jumpscares everyone.
-Trusting others with the teddy, can break friendships (when I’m all “I don’t see teddy in your hands! Don’t tell me you dropped it!”.. I wouldn’t be so on edge if the rules were a bit more lenient).
——
So there’s a part where you can finally let teddy go (safely). I won’t say where, but I was able to do the fear rooms. And this, is when things began to get extremely frustrating for me.
The first fear room, took 10+ minutes to get through… a feat that would had been done in less than a minute with Desktop (as all you had to do is keep your hand off your mouse).

With the way the WMR controllers are, if your left thumb isn’t -exactly- centered when wanting to go forward, you’ll veer to the left or right (depending on the way your thumb moves). Fell off the platform, several times.
Get to the point where you jump across.. veer to the left, veer to the right.. ARGH!! I FUCKING HATE CONTROLLERS!! Not just motion controllers, but controllers in general! I’ve been used to a keyboard/mouse WAY too long.
FINALLY fucking made it (learned how to keep my thumb from moving), and all I wanted to do was throw the controllers down in rage.

The rest of the fear rooms were actually pretty good in VR. The only thing I didn’t like is how dark my headset made things (to where I couldn’t even see what was attacking me, such as the ‘Fear of Snakes’ one).
Got to The Vats; here you can pick up teddy again and carry it through the boss battles. They wanted me to carry it, but I wanted someone else to do it (as I knew the boss battles would be impossible for me). We had another guy with VR that eventually grabbed it.
And sure enough, they were quite impossible for me. Soon as the parkour stage happened, I couldn’t get past the second jump.. veered left, veered right.
Finally we got to the final boss, and I noticed a major bug as soon as we started it. The message about teamwork.. didn’t go away. I could only assume the other VR guy who was in charge of teddy, dropped it by accident.
Couldn’t even get out to the long platform to continue the encounter, because of the message acting like an invisible wall.

I tried to warn the others that this is bugged, but they were too pissed to hear me.
Soon I had enough of this bullshit (after the others did as well, when it reached to a point we instantly died as soon as we spawned back). FUCK the teddy challenge!! Buggy piece of SHIT!
.

Went to another world, still a bit ticked at the controllers. The friends showed up and actually tried to help me feel better (and it helped). One suggested with the issues I’m getting with delayed/unwanted inputs, to get a WiFi antenna (that would boost the Bluetooth signal, for my controllers to respond more favorably.
As for the touch pads, I was suggested of looking up some kind of driver that I can configure the controllers to do what I want. If I can get them to not input forward-left and forward-right, I’ll be SO fucking happy.

Also, one of them that was helping me out, said they used to have WMR, but it crashed a lot on their laptop. Said the only way to reinstall the MR Portal.. is reinstalling
Windows. OOF!! THAT I didn’t know! He had to do this six times, before it finally started working fine. …Wow. Reminds me of all the times I reinstalled Windows in hopes to fix that issue I had with modded Skyrim.
I feel… extremely lucky to not have that happen to me. He also knows of the issue I have with the whole “Check your display cable” crap. Glad I’m not alone in that.

Beat Saber – Through the OMG and AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!

…I am still fucking sweating (and my arms (and wrists) are sore) as I type this! Beat Saber is possibly the best $20 I’ve used in a long time. And screw those minimum system requirements! The game runs beautifully on my computer!
So what is Beat Saber? Let me explain this in a better way. Remember when I wanted to buy a PS4, just for GTA5? Beat Saber is similar to that.
Beat Saber is a game where the player slices boxes coming towards them with two lightsabers. The box color shows the required saber color to slice it, and the directional arrow shows the required angle it can be sliced. Some boxes have a circle on them, which means they can be sliced in any direction.
And bombs are to be avoided with the sabers.

The game starts off with about 10 songs (each varying in intensity), and can be increased as big as the player’s hard drive (or SSD) can handle (all for free) by getting the latest version of the Beat Saber Mod Manager (here).
With this, you’ll be able to tap into ‘Beat Saver’; an ingame website that the player can download actual songs (converted to Beat Saber) by the community, such as the Skyrim theme song, or even.. the song in the title.
These have a set difficulty, and if you (as the player) are just starting out, look to the left and there’s settings, such as No Fail (the song won’t end if the player doesn’t keep their energy level high enough), No Obstacles (not having to dodge walls of energy coming at the player, and a few others.
Note that the player’s final score will not be posted online, if they use either (or both) of the two aid options. It’s entirely up to the player if they don’t mind this.

And holy fuck can some of those songs give me a workout!! I swear I was going to break my controllers in half a few times, for how frequent the boxes were coming at me!
So if you have a Vive, Oculus, or even Windows Mixed Reality (even with a bare bones
VR-ready PC), you owe it to yourself to buy this game. It can get quite addicting.

One thing I would like to see, is an easy implementation of MP3s into a Beat Saber format. There’s probably a way to do it, but for ‘easy’.. I doubt it. I believe that you have to script where the blocks show up, how frequent they are, and any obstacles. Maybe in the future, the devs might come up with an easier solution.

This thing also has (beta) multiplayer support (playing against your friends on Steam), but it’s a bit tedious to get set up. It’s also quite buggy. You’ll still be able to beat your saber(s) by yourself, and at the end (where it shows your score and your ranking), it shows nothing but a blank screen.
So here’s to hoping this is fixed in the future. It’s pretty wild seeing one of my friends in my boundary.

Benie’s VR Adventures – Day 6

Other than a few days ago managing to find a flamethrower that won’t lag people out (and making it work with BenieTheDragon Boi) for VRChat, these are the games I played yesterday.

Robo Boop
VR Orientation Type: Standing(Room-Scale)
(Reference to booping people on the nose in VRChat here)
This game made me hate how tall I am IRL– constantly smacking the cords for my ceiling fan (and/or hearing them hit the headset). That’s the bad thing about VR.. you can’t see obstacles (and why I want the next-gen VR headset to have a button to activate
‘RL mode’ (to see furniture and stuff).
Moving on, this overly casual (but can be downright frustrating at times) game is about booping boxes with these marshmallow stick-like things. What’s cool about this, is the player can set how easy or difficult they want it to be, via several fully customizable gamemodes. In addition, the player can set how many boxes they want spawned at the first round, how many rounds there are, if they want a time limit, and more. I absolutely love that the player can control how simple or difficult the game can be for them.
The object of the game is also simple; change the color of each box to the color of the stick. And that’s all there is to it.
Only one thing I don’t like, is that there’s no restart option if things get too chaotic for the player. I have to hit the top of either the left or right stick on my controllers, close the game, and restart it.
Other than that, the game is actually quite relaxing (and can turn into a real puzzle if you make it).

VR Flush
VR Orientation Type: Sitting
A very short (a bit too short IMO), but humorous game that almost reminds me of
Portal 2, and originally made for the Oculus Rift (but ported for WMR).
The point of the game is to take a shit in peace, but you keep getting interrupted, even beamed aboard an AI-controlled alien ship above Earth. Here you’re representing all of humanity, while still on the toilet.
And that’s about it. It seems this review is as short as this game. I would had liked to see more (such as different levels). Overall, I did like it; especially the Wheatly like robot that talks to you. He’s hilarious.. calling your toilet a ‘recharging station’.
I’d call it ‘waste management’. lol

SightLine VR
VR Orientation Type: Sitting(180* View)
This is less of a game, and more of the glorious mind fuckery that is VR. This is a great step in getting anyone into VR for the first time in their life. So take a seat, and strap in to the amazing world of Virtual Reality.
In this thing, things infront and beside the player aren’t always what they seem. Staring at a plant, then looking the other way, then back at the… fuck?! It changed! That’s the mind fuckery (and more).
And at the end, it says (proudly): “Welcome to VR”. WOW. This is amazing, and I highly recommend this to any first time VR user. Plus, it’s free! You can’t go wrong with that!
