Today’s VRChat ‘Open Beta’ confusion (and resolution)

What a crazy (yet also embarrassing) day. What I assumed today’s VRChat release was an open beta (due to this), there was a lot of miscommunication. But it just so happened I was looking in the wrong spot (instead of the ‘Open Beta’, the date being the 12th… instead of today (the 16th)).
Started out like this;
*sees the VRChat Discord showing activity*
“Hmm, new update?” *checks* “Awesome! Time to tell ever– wait, why does it say ‘Open Beta’? Ok, I guess it’s a beta. Alright.”
*some time later, sees a few people in a world talking to eachother*
“So you guys opted into the beta too?”
*they look at me strangely”
“What beta?” / “There was a beta…?”
“Yeah! It was released today. Did you guys sign up for it?”
“Uhh.. no? I saw a release on Steam, that’s it.”
“…What?”
–Ended, like this (with an argument in the VRChat Discord’s ‘#vrchat-general’ channel)
*after finally discovering the date being four days earlier than today*
“Why wasn’t this changed…? Why does it show the 12th?”
“This is when the beta was out. There were no changes to it since then, so it got released. And with that, the devs felt rewriting the post would be a waste of time, so they kept it at that.”
“…Fine, fine. But I still don’t see anything about a beta in the announcements. Explain that!”
“Because it doesn’t get posted in the announcements… check the VRChat Beta section”
“………… I feel like a dumbass now.”

So, to clarify.. there is no current beta. What’s now released, was the beta at a time. And
honestly (from what I saw), there was no real need for a beta– apart from the changes to uploading worlds, but that’s all I can think of for needing a reason of it.
