WURM | It all worked out at the end

My new pier is completed and better than I pictured it. I managed to get most of the critical walls down with my new large maul, that… sadly does as much damage as a regular-sized iron maul.
A large maul is used more for combat than a fence destroyer.

How it lead up to this.. well, I logged in yesterday after playing around with my RL gifts. I got one of those Fushigi balls you see on TV, and a World of Warcraft 2011 calendar. All I wanted.
After that I checked the forge that my maul is in and it’s missing. I provide as much proof as I remembered and am told that one of the impers must’ve taken it by mistake.
Zuperman, the same guy that helped start my Corbita’s construction, helps out yet again. He got my now imped to 70ql lanterns out and got to work imping the new butchering knife I bought.

I waited patiently as he slowly got the ql up on my knife, and wondered if I should remind him I’m still waiting for my god damn large maul. Finally he gets done with the knife, hands it to me, and then starts working on making me a brand new large maul.
Soon he gets that and leaves without me having a chance to thank him. Tried to grab it and it had the Steal option so I had to get one of the impers to give it to me and they did.

I finally then made my way back home, bidding adieu to Impalong and Wurm Christmas (and hopefully never have this craziness happen again).
Once I got home I immediately started bashing down those fences and as I said, noticed the damage.

.
Fast forwarding to the next day, angry went on a trip to see Erik the Red (the red dragon), using an alt and borrowing a guy’s rowboat to get there. He mentioned he had a gift for me, ingame, infront of his house. Since he was introuble with trolls bashing his brains out, I had to sail there to get it.
I decided to head to angry’s new boat dock, the ‘Shipyard of Flamgra’in’. Getting to the island was a bit of a pain due to the sudden gale shifting from the southeast to the south. I had to follow the coast south trying to find it.

When I finally found it, the place looked… unfinished, and similar to Elshar’s “pier”. My new pier looks better than this.
I disembarked and went over to the mailbox. Since I haven’t checked if angry actually mailed this gift to me, I checked and noticed another large maul inside of it. 70ql.
I got my hands on it and noticed it was made by Tunes, the guy who I first talked to that made me that first maul I lost. So now I have two large mauls.
Trying to find the right cave to get me to Catville, I made it and went through it with no problems.
First thing I noticed is the new road system leading away from Catville and it connects to Volcano Forest.

Made it to angry’s house and there was a small package at the front door named “From Misterangry… to Dragonhead” on it. Picked it up and took it home with me, telling angry I got the gift. I had a feeling it was going to be a substandard gift so that’s why I didn’t just open it.

When I got back to my boat and headed back to the north coast towards home, fog started to develop. It wasn’t that thick though and I managed to more or less follow what I could see of the terrain.

Made it back home with no problems and opened up the gift. And just as I expected, a “LOL I TROLL YOU!!” angry gift. A single piece of Charcoal. Did I bitch about it? Actually no. It took me alittle bit to think, but then I went outside and started making a snowman.
I guess as they say, big things come in small packages once the snowman popped up next to my house.

I thanked angry for it who was surprised and expected me to bitch about it. He didn’t expect me to wait ’till I got home to open it.
He claims he was really thinking of giving me dual longswords with WoA and CoC casted on them.
Two reasons why I wouldn’t care about it;
1. I don’t even fight with this two-handed sword he made for me. I’m too much of a coward.
2. WoA and CoC on a sword? It’s pointless to cast them! They have no benefits on swords.

WURM | “Fireworks? Is this a fucking JOKE?!” / Maul madness

Merry Wurmxmas!! (wait, I said that already)
Both logged in. First thing we did was run up to Santa and “You’ve been a good boy, here’s your gift!”
So we have our gifts. Why I wasn’t all “WOOT GIFTS MUST OPEN NOW!!” was angry spoiling it for me. He told me it’s Fireworks this year.
At first I thought “Pfft. This year’s gift isn’t fireworks!! …Is it?” but he went on and on about what you can do with them, and having to use the unstable client to see them.

After that, I saw that the guy delivered. I paid the 1s and 10c, but didn’t get it out of the mail. I half thought it’ll be there when we get home. So we run to the boat and I see Konlin leaving too. He follows us all the way back ’till I hit the Bay Hill Canal.
As we’re nearing the house, I see new development North of my settlement. A guy named “Blarghargh” is busy chopping down trees and digging. When I talked to him he said that they just saw the place and thought no one lived near here. Wasn’t he surprised when he found out I do.
In my house we open up our gifts, with my alt going first. And sure enough, the gift is “birchwood fireworks”.
Immediately I begin to cuss like a sailor knowing what angry said was true (in Village chat mind you).
My alt went to the pier to try them out, and notice they wouldn’t work without a flint and steel being equipped. My alt was right when he said “maybe they need some kind of spark”.

We’re still on the regular client here, and they do nothing. So we both get the unstable client, and OHH GOD the studdering! But my alt launched one and all I saw was a firework come out and explode into a circle. All it does. SOOO WORTH coming down there!!
Angry on the other hand acted like I don’t know what I was pissed about. He claims it’s awesome. I say he’s lying through his teeth and won’t admit I’m right that this “gift” is worthless!
For the people that say I’m spoiled, take a look at this list of gifts Santa gave since 2005 to now. The Fireworks are the only non-helpful gift in that time frame. All the others are helpful.

EDIT: One year later as I look at this post, maybe I am spoiled. That I should appreciate even getting a gift. Even though it did nothing but shoot out one firework, it’s the thought that counts.
What I was pissed about is coming all the way down there, having to deal with those zombies, and this is what I get in return. Well, since I’m no longer in Wurm (not over this), it won’t be a problem this year.
.

So, I’m thinking the ‘present’ I bought from FM (the large maul) will replace the fireworks. Went to my mailbox, opened it up… nothing inside it.
Turns out you can only pick it up at the mailbox that you paid for the item. The GM’s are all “LOL I’m not doing it for you!”, forcing me to have to go BACK to FM.
But I also wondered if I could put this fail gift in my coffin. My alt proved that I could, so I tried unwrapping my gift. Suddenly music starts to play. I stand there shocked where this music is coming from, and… why the devs did this.
After the music stops I stare at my alt, still shocked. Then it hits me. THIS is why they wanted you to use the unstable client!

Getting that out of my system I put the gift in the coffin and we head back to FM, this time on my Corbita. I’m taking my alt again so we can snack on that buffet table again, to keep our Nutrition to 99%.
The trip is of course quicker, taking just an hour to get down there. I park my Corbita at the Avalon dock, knowing all I have to do is grab the maul and go home.

So we get up there, I check the mailbox… no maul. I ask the GM and they say, “Sorry. Someone stole it. There’s nothing we can do.”. I felt like yelling the loudest yell I’ve ever yelled in my life which would be felt and heard server-wide.
Anyone can take the item. Even as I type this I find it hard to believe how incompetent the devs are. You would think that the bank would work just like a container, and having a FUCKING STEAL-PROOF SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t know what to do after that, but I felt who has been slowing me down this week, has finally won. And now he can claim his fucking prize. Just before I brutally attack him so hard he’ll have to talk out of his ass…
I knew there was only four options. So I tried the first by asking again in Local. A person said to ask in Impalong. I thought for sure by doing that I’ll get a replacement maul for the one I lost.

So we sail to the Impalong, I ask nicely. At first it seemed like “Why would I make one for a newbie?”. Since I hate being called a noob in Wurm I told them I’ve been playing since 2008. Then it started to get ugly and I knew my chances of getting one made were falling.
And I was right. They pretty much put their foot down and told me to go make my own. That if I played that long I shouldn’t be a lazy ass.

So we go back to FM again. At this time I was about to say “fuck this game I quit”. It’s fucking CHRISTMAS, Impalong! Apparently they suddenly lost their spirit.
My alt tried to suggest we just go check every merchant on the server, but I knew I probably wouldn’t find one that does. So I went to kchat and asked them a simple question…
“Are large mauls that hard to make that no one on this server is selling them via their merchants”. One said that one was selling a large maul at FM about four days ago. Again I’m thinking “why me Why Me WHY ME?!?!?”, then I get a PM saying they can mail a maul to me. 30ql with some CoC cast on it.
Desperate enough for anything I take the offer.

So I head back to the Impalong and wait out the hour the person told me it would take. Finally it comes and this time I make sure I get my hands on it. With it in my possession I felt like holding it up above my head and having a beam of light come down over me, and screaming “VICTORY!!”.
The reason I came to Impalong is due to the low ql. The impers told me to make my own and they’ll imp it, so… I didn’t make my own, but I HAVE my own. And they’re now imping it as I speak. But with tomorrow being Christmas Day, the chances of them still working on it are minimal.
Spending time with their families is much more important than Impalong anyway (and yes I’m lying through my teeth… but that’s just me. When I want something, I want it NOW).

The moral of this story is to never.. NEVER pay for something that has been mailed to you in Freedom Market.

WURM | Christmas just keeps getting earlier every year / Zombie Panic

Wurmxmas IS HERE! 😀 So come on down to Freedom Market and receive a prem-only gift from the jolly one! A shock and behold when Christmas came earlier than expected.

Me and my alt are currently approaching the Southwest coast while heading over there as I speak, and can see Santa’s vertical smoke trail from here. Couldn’t see it from my settlement though.

Getting a gale, but it’s going southeast. Not good for my Corbita. A gale from the west however would help. So I took my sailboat instead.
As we’re going, Mrbloodworth is happily spawning dangerous hostiles at FM and talking about it in the Event tab, all having a Christmas theme to them.
As much as he finds these trololololoing antics funny, I’m quite concerned we’re going to get there, I’ll be at the market while my alt is with Santa, then a fucking bear pops up behind me, or him… or even both of us. That will put icing on the bad-tasting huge cake of pure anger I’ve been “cooking”.

This is why I’m taking my sword.. just incase. Surely he won’t leave us all for dead. But with Santa here now this is great for me. I’ll get my lanterns imped, hopefully get me a large maul, AND get my prem gift. Then we’ll go home earlier than expected.

.
Having fought the annoying southeast gale, I close in on the cave canal. Every now and then you see lightning strikes around the Santa smoke.
Going through the canal, I hit a huge load lag spike, almost like the client crashed. But I recovered and we got through the canal ok. Soon we got to the dock and left.

As we went up, people in local are screaming “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!” I just ignored them until I saw a horde of zombies all named “Happy holidays Hug Zombie” slowly coming down the road. We both ran back to the boat (my reaction was alot more dramatic than “Ehh. Zombies. Back to the boat”. More like “OH FUCK!! RUN!!!”).
About a half an hour later all of the zombies were dead; dead enough both of us got back up the road to FM safely.
Once there I started checking the merchants for a large maul while my alt headed to Festival Cove with our lanterns to be imped. At FM, it’s true that Santa isn’t giving out gifts yet, but the buffet table is there. Eating from it causes all of your survival stats (Food/Water/Nutrition) to jump to 99%.
Very useful indeed. With Nutrition up to 99% and all of my fat layers back up, it’ll be a LONG while ’till my alt has to cook again. 🙂

As for the maul, I couldn’t find one. So I ask in Local and a guy named Tunes answers me, saying he’ll make one for me. A 70ql. I’m tickled pink and tell my alt to just grab the lanterns, nomatter what their ql is and meet me at FM so he can eat at the buffet table.
Back at the Impalong, they’ve been imped from 28ql to nearly 53ql, much higher than I could do.

I also gave my alt my sapphire, and told him “It’s Christmas. Just give it to them”, which I should had done before so I’m going to do it now. I can always find a higher ql gem by mining, and I was only going to get a measly 1s for selling it. These guys are doing a great service for all of us, so they deserve a thank you from Dragonhead.

After that, my alt ate at the table but we stayed on for awhile. I wanted to wait for the guy to make that maul and mail to me. But due to getting awfully tired suddenly, I went to bed.

WURM | What’s really going on here, and why I now dread going to FM / Wurmxmas tomorrow

I think it’s about time to explain why I’ve been quite agitated this week in Wurm, and wanting to blow up in people’s faces. In normal circumstances I wouldn’t be like this.
But I have to get everything done for two reasons;
1. I got new neighbors, which makes me having to be more active.
2. My health on the line on the 28th.

When I was heading to the Impalong on Monday, a friend of my new neighbors showed up and wanted to see my settlement. My alt showed him around. He said it’s pretty good but it’s in need of improvements, and I told him that I agree.
One was the old animal pen where my horses got stolen. I told him I was planning to just dig the whole thing down and expand my boat parking.

So this whole thing started at the Impalong. Since what the guy said to my alt I’ve been itching to do it when I get home. But I’m supposed to wait patiently.. all week if need be, to get my lamps imped. And I just want to get home. PM me or something when they’re ready (but I don’t feel like sailing all the way to FM again to pick up my lamps), yet I’m told “they’re doing a service for you, taking time out of their lives to helping everyone.” I can understand that, but… this is NOT a good time! If I knew it was going to take this long I would had just paid someone a long time ago to imp them.

Finally I get them imped and go home. The next day I get the simple stuff done then move on to the pen. All I need is horses to do this.
I got that “taken care of” by going to FM again to get those three horses, and I end up with three foals, but angry came to my rescue by trading the foals for horses.

All this week, the wind has been an issue with it being a gale one minute than suddenly going down to a light breeze, as well as the persistent, thick fog.
The fence bashing today went ok until I started getting low ql rock shards from my alt, which did minimal damage.

Again, more frustration. It’s like the game’s telling me to slow down or forcing me to slow down, but I keep saying “fuck you I gotta get this shit done” to it. As I said, under normal means I would not be like this.
But with new neighbors I need to be more active. Yet that isn’t the issue. I don’t mind being more active. What is… is the 28th.

To spare you what I’ve been going through in my head (literally) since November, I gotta go up to the hospital on that day and get an MRI. If they find anything serious, my life as I know it will be over.
This is why I’m rushing to get everything done all at once, and Wurm doesn’t understand why. It won’t give me a fucking break.
I’m the only one doing this. With my alt’s shitty Mining skill, I have to mine my own shards now (I can get 43ql where he can only get 12ql).

.
However, what will get me to slow down is Christmas. I’m taking my final trip up to FM this year tonight (not to say I won’t come back next year.. IF my head is ok), and I’m bringing my alt. If the wind is good I’ll take my Corbita. If not, my Sailboat. I’m also bringing angry if he wants to go.
We’ll sail to FM. Once there I’ll go see if they’re selling a large maul and then we log off and I’ll play WoW. Then tomorrow, Santa will be here, we go, grab our gifts, and go home. I’m hoping to make it back home before Christmas Day due to in WoW that’s where presents become clickable.
One good thing about this is I don’t really HAVE to make it back home by then.

If the wind suddenly gets crappy on Christmas Eve after we get our gifts and eat/drink at the free buffet table, which I heard rumors it gives either 50% or 100% Nutrition. This will be good for both of us, especially my alt who won’t have to cook for awhile…., and if we don’t make it back home before Christmas Day, I’ll just get in WoW and get present-getting done for both Horde and Alliance, then go back to Wurm and sail home. Drop off angry first if he’s going to come, but I feel he’ll probably go with Elshar.

Once Christmas is over though, I’m going to have to go back to how I am now, rushing to get everything done.

WoW | Sunken Temple dumbed down / WURM | New updates and work

In Wurm I’ve posted two threads in the forums. One was to get an enchanted sickle, and the other was to trade the three foals I got yesterday for three full-grown horses.
Hours passed and I tried playing WoW with Wurm in the other window and succeeded. Did a Stocks run to pass the time.

Back in Wurm, I finally came up with the decision to just do my work anyway, fuck the feeling I wasted my time getting work horses, when the sun rises. Nearly 10 minutes later “Server maintenance” shows up in my Event tab. “Worst. Week. EVER!!” I think to myself.

Back to WoW to wait out the half an hour downtime, I fly to do ST to hopefully get Exalted with Gnomer to get a Mechanostrider mount, knowing it’ll take an hour to complete. Upon landing I find a new NPC saying he’s an ambassador from the Green Dragonflight who wants my help. The greens don’t like mortals, nor do they help them (which actually is the way a dragonflight should be).

So I do his quests which start with finding six artifacts scattered around the temple underwater, to killing two key mini-bosses.
I notice one fatal thing; they moved the instance portal to the room you go after you go down the stairs and through the water.
Going through it is the same NPC I met at the entrance. Ahead of me is what I called the dragon wing. Checking the map I notice it’s the only area. They removed the upper and lower areas.. pretty much removing what made ST fun for me. No more will I ever see “The shield be down!!”. I guess Blizzard wants you to think Deathwing did this.

I was actually able to do that summoning thing of trying to bring that skeleton to life.
You get this egg that you use. When you use it, the mob is all “I LIVE! NOW YOU DIE!” without having to kill all of those green dragon attackers like before. Pissed me off.
The rest of the run behaved like it should. Without the shield I was able to kill all of those trolls, which triggered the two dragons in the main room to show up and fly around. Killed them, then killed the two with the main dragon boss. Killed him, then headed out.

Didn’t get exalted with Gnomer as I hoped, because they fucked the dungeon up so I didn’t get as much rep as I wanted.
Headed back to GS and tried to get back in Wurm.

On the login page, there’s a ‘new patch‘ now, telling you to get the unstable client to “fully enjoy this years christmas gift”. In the notes shows that you can now re-lead animals you last lead on deeds.
So I tried downloading this unstable client, while fearing I’m now going to have issues.

So I attempt to login and see this new popup saying “Um.. hey, we’re going to be using LWJGL now”. FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU–! Talk about adding insult to injury! Now I’m going to get randomly D/C’d for a “christmas gift”.

On top of it, Taming and Grooming are broken.

WURM | New horses lead to Bad Karma

Been a slightly busy today. I installed a new mine door on the entrance and imped it as high as I can get it. I also successfully made a security fence to guarantee to myself no one is bashing the mine door (even though it’s on-deed).

With those high priority jobs completed, I moved down to the low priority ones; getting new horses to replace the five I lost. I first asked in kchat, no response, so I posted what I wanted in the forums.
Ten minutes later I tried again asking kchat. Ten seconds later I get a PM from a “Calebbelac” asking what I want and I explained everything. Said that where the horses are all the way down near Freedom Market. He’ll charge 90c for all three.
A second guy asks me who seems more professional, tells me the horses are at Silverwing Retreat which isn’t too far away from me, but he’s at the Impalong. I ask him when he’s coming back and says maybe around 8pm. Unknown how much he would charge.

I looked at the clock and thought “Ehh.. fuck it. I’ll go to Freedom Market”. I was hoping I could find an enchanted Sickle to make pruning faster. So I set sail, and had my alt start prepping the spot I’ll be leaving them by planting crops.
I’m talking to my contact that I’ll be there in… 3+ hours due to the dying wind. The time seems to go on forever but I finally get there.

When I finally got to the pier the guy wasn’t there to greet me, so I went on with my shopping. 1/4 up the road he finally PMs me saying he went to his horse ranch to grab them for me, and for me to wait at Freedom Market.
Searching around I notice there’s more merchants now, but not one of them is selling an enchanted sickle. I do find a very high WoA/CoC rake, which I quickly pay for. Costed 3s but it’s well worth it.

As I continued searching, the guy PMs me and tells me there’s a problem, and I’m thinking “You mean I traveled all the way over here and he won’t deliver?” and ask. He says all of the adult horses he had are gone, except for four foals and a venerable horse. He offers the venerable and two cows as an alternate deal, but I thinking “The foals are going to grow up anyway”, and said I’ll take the foals. I then ask if I could come see him. And as I reread this, I found this was a bad mistake.

He tries to tell me where to go and I end up going on the still unfinished road that connects to Halcyon, then head back when he says he’s at FM, then takes me along the Northwest road going alongside Dragonfang Peak, then turns north and stops at this small ranch with five white horses lined up for me to view.
I ask him which one is the fastest, then suddenly he’s like “What?! You never asked for that! Dude, I don’t know! Sorry!” which I did specifically ask for. Soon I pick three of the four foals, and we head back to FM where I pay him the 90c, plus 10c from me for waiting for me patiently.

About three minutes later he PMs me again asking if I will take him and his friend to The Valley. I’m thinking “Huh? Oh sure, whatever. Just get done so I can get home.” So I head down to the docks and prepare to depart. The guy and his friend are there waiting for me.

And this is where the “fun” began. I bring the horses to my boat, get them close enough and hop on, then try to lead them again. And I get that annoying “Bad for your karma” shit. I toggle Lawful off, and I’m still getting it! Of COURSE I’m fucking pissed.
Before I arrived at the dock, I saw someone in kchat mentioning something about toggling Lawful off doesn’t work anymore. Something about a sneaky update, but didn’t know what it was about. Now… unfortunately I do.
I told the guy (calling him “Cale”) about it, he tried to lead the foals and they wouldn’t follow him either. So we both had to contact a GM to deal with this shit.

Five minutes later a GM named Lakota pops up, yet… he doesn’t seem interested in helping us out and starts walking around the pier. Cale asked me what’s the guy doing. And all I could see was him deliberately pissing me off and Cale agrees.
Then the GM stops and says in Local, “big place”, and I’m about ready to say “WTF?! CAN YOU NOT FUCKING SEE WE NEED HELP?!” but do my best to control my anger by telling him we asked for help to make my new horses leadable again.

Lakota finally manages to lead the foals and tells me to sail my boat out of the deed, so I do with Cele showing me where to go. I turn around and park my boat, then we thank the unfocused GM.
Cele tells me we need to head out, but I wait for the GM to leave. Just then I get another PM from what I assume was another GM, Dskaggsgv. Later on he shows up then suddenly sends an ally request from a settlement named Mount Samling, which I hesitantly agree to (I never met this guy before, but I think I saw him at the Impalong yesterday).

He asks how I’m doing and stuff and then the next thing I know, he AND Cele start treating me like a noob telling me how to lead the foals. I do my best to ignore their complaining as I do what I know. With the foals being small they’re hard to click on and pick the Lead option for all three.
The complaining keeps going with Dskaggsgv saying “do what i said =P”. I felt like saying “Mister. Shut up. I got this!”
Finally, I pull away from the area I parked with all three foals in tow, still pissed for being treated like an idiot. I also notice something. The wind is now non-existent and I’m going 7.61km/h.

Finally we get to one of the Steppe tiles, which is east of New Galway. It doesn’t seem to be good enough so he tells me to go to the one around the Crystal Canal.
I begin to think this guy has drafted me to assist him in getting more horses (and I was right. Because I nearly bought all of his), when I should not have thought of that and let him have it by accident.
He apologizes for not informing me sooner, said he assumed the horses would be there. Still, the speed and everything else is getting to me.

So I get near the canal and drop him off as he wanted me to, and head through it. Soon I leave his local and breath a sigh of relief, knowing all I have to do now is just get home and I’m done with that guy, but he’s not done with me.
About three minutes after leaving the canal he PMs me again saying “this was a bad idea”. Praying he doesn’t ask me to come back and save his ass, I ask him if he’s in trouble.
He sarcastically says no, that there’s three trolls on the path and nothing to get around them. And this is the last thing he said.

Was it wrong to leave him for dead? Mixed opinions.
1. I got my hands full here with these three foals, and the wind isn’t in my favor.
2. He treated me like an idiot. I had the situation under control.

I then removed him and especially Dskaggsgv off my friends list. Still going 7.61km/h I slowly made my way around the coast. As I approached Bro Bay, fog began rolling in. I felt like I was being punished for being away from Wurm, for not keeping my five horses in the secured pen.
As I waited, one of the GMs thought it would be funny by popping “Old angry troll hits you deadly hard on the head RIP” in the Event tab, “scaring” nearly everyone in kchat, except me that is. Their kind of lame comedy doesn’t go with me, especially with the situation I’m in.

But soon from what seemed like five hours of sailing, I made it home and welcomed the foals to their new home, by locking them in the secured pier.
I then went to my token and broke the sudden alliance with Mount Samling. Felt smart when the event showed “The wise Dragonhead has broken the alliance with Mount Samling.”
I did feel wise. I don’t know this guy enough to form an alliance with him, and I felt if I didn’t break it soon the guy or one of his villagers would take this as a way to steal from my settlement.

Who knows. Maybe it was him that took my horses. But what does it matter now? I got three new horses to replace my loss. They… just need to grow up, and quickly, so I can continue my plans.

And I am having second thoughts about them. I have no idea when they’ll grow up to be usable. I feel like asking if I could trade for horses of the same nature, but full-sized. But I don’t know any of their traits as my AH (Animal Husbandry) skill is shitty right now.
Should had said “Ehh.. thanks but no thanks.” to that guy, but I didn’t want to go home empty-handed after going all of that way to get them. Now I’m regretting that decision.
Maybe I could ask Elshar when he gets on, since that’s where I got my horses from. He might feel pitty on me for what happened to my five and be willing to trade, and all I have to do is head to his island which is just a 1&1/2 hour boat ride.

WURM | Two neighbors for the price of one / Multi-legged baddies

So I finally met my new neighbor, Irondragon. The same guy I saw back at The Howl.
We talked, said he founded the place two weeks ago, which is probably somewhere in early December. Possibly near to the day Cataclysm in WoW got released. Due to me being in WoW he didn’t know I was still active.

He showed me where this Peat deposit is that I was told about. It is massive; 3X the size of the one at the Valley of the Gods. He’s also working on his own East/West road. On the west end it connects to another new neighbor, but this one is more familiar. Sneakypete. He’s the one setting up all the roads (the heavy digging parts), including one along the coast that looks like it will connect to the clay next to my pier. Or possibly the pier itself.

If he does, then maybe he knows how to lower clay tiles. And maybe even better, if I’m able to play my cards right, maybe he can help me with my road projects.

But due to having more people, I have to increase security of my resources. I have to make another mine door, and this time add a secondary line of defense against intruders by adding a locked gate.
I don’t know what happened to my last one. Either it decayed or broke but I’m leaning more on decay, because nothing in the mine is touched.

My ultimate goal, and I hope they hop aboard this, is to make a canal that connects the west coast to the sea east of it, to make it easier for myself to get to the Freedom Market without having to go around the coast.

.
The next day I ventured into my mine to see if any hostiles popped up. Didn’t see any, but did notice the section of cave my alt discovered is caved in.
Behind it I saw a large scorp. And that scorp is keeping me away from my Iron vein. So I went back to my house, dropped everything and grabbed my pickaxe, and started hacking at the wall.
As the rock shards piled up, the wall finally broke and I just ran. I wasn’t seeing the scorp following me but I was seeing something else; two pairs of eight legs happily chewing at my flesh, even after I got out. I watched the bar of death ever so closer move to the left of my stam bar.
Then I slammed the cruise control button and yelled “guards!” a few times to get the bastards off my tail. Made it through the gate to my settlement as the tower guards came running up the ramp to do battle with the spiders.
I checked my wounds and saw a med. Knew I was fucked. But I also knew I had rags around the house somewhere and found them.
After several failures I got the Medium down to a Light wound. Thankfully the med was only 17 damage, and not up above 25.
I saw both spiders were Mature. Had they been stronger I would not be alive right now.

I waited for what seemed like forever for all my wounds to heal. I can’t believe it takes ten RL minutes for one health click. But I should thank what I felt was a Christmas Miracle that I was able to heal that med without a Healing Cover.

With all of my wounds now healed, I went back into the mine and lured the now known Aged scorp outside to play with the guards. It did no damage to me since scorps are slow, and died.
I then did another check and was relieved those were the only hostiles in the mine.

I assume that hostiles, just like in Minecraft, can spawn in caves. But hostiles in Wurm that spawn in caves only do so if the mine hasn’t been used in a long time.
The spiders I found out later were a breeding pair. If I had not killed them it would be alot worse with a bunch of little spiders.

I’m lucky to be alive. That’s all I can say.

WURM | Impalong has arrived! / Unwelcome neighbors

Logged in today, currently night. Snow is covering the ground. All trees now have a snow covering. Sadly, pines no longer are converted to huge Christmas Trees like they were back on JK-H. Then again, Christmas isn’t exactly here yet. Didn’t see the puffs of smoke like I did before.
House walls (both wood and stone) have holly, bells, and wreathes on them. Similar to last year’s Wurm Christmas.

I put another month into my settlement’s upkeep. Unfortunately I didn’t know my prem ran out and all of my high skills are down to 20. However, they still act like their high skills (still able to captain my big boats).

Also, it seems that decay has been increased on Stew. It’s all gone again. Talk about pointless to even cook it… I’ve been gone for about three weeks and I spent half of that day getting my alt to fill up that barrel, and it’s ALL GONE!! D:<
Apparently, they’re forcing you to cook more often. And be more active to keep Stew from decaying. Tell me that doesn’t fucking suck…
I knew there was a catch of having quick cooking times.

To help my alt with the drudgery of fishing, we both fished. Filled up one of the small barrels with Stew enough that I was able to gather up all of the lamps and set sail for the Impalong.
I had to deal with a strong headwind (gale from the NE, which has been persistent all day today) as I made my way to what was Samling. The rest of the trip was problem-free. As I approached what I thought was the site of Impalong (Festival Cove), I began to get concerned because I wasn’t seeing an increase of boat traffic.

I finally got to the docks leading up to Freedom Market. Several people are in the water (night again at this time), acting like they were playing Marco Polo by using the “Hey! Over here!” emotion alot.
I docked and there was this guy telling me to get him out of the water. I didn’t know how I could (wasn’t thinking of using my boat). Another guy tries to assist him but the guy in trouble couldn’t see the other guy’s boat. I tell him to relog and he logs out and doesn’t come back. But I didn’t stick around to see, as I was focused on getting to the Impalong.

I grabbed my lamps and followed the road an arrow to Impalong is telling me to go. which leads all the way around the bay. It also leads to a long tunnel that goes through a mountain. Seeing how fucking heavy my 11 lamps are I turned around and headed for my boat, then went over to the tunnel entrance.

On the other side of the tunnel is more ocean. An “URGH!! I COULD HAD JUST SAILED HERE?!?!” feeling goes through me, but I continue following the road. Ahead of me is a shitload of parked boats, and so is Impalong.
I find the area where you go to get all iron-made items imped, walked in and see a bunch of people happily working, and ohh the noise of hammering, tempering, and other sounds of imping acting like an orchestra.
I then asked if I could get my lamps imped to 50. Someone told me to just throw them in one of the forges and someone will get to it.. eventually, so I do.

I then head back through the tunnel, get to my boat, and go over to the Impalong site and park. Knowing it’s going to be a long time until someone finally imps my lamps to 50, I get my alt back on and get him to mail me my compass.

As I wait, Local begins to get more active about a game where you can win coin. The Wurm version of Deal or No Deal. I go to where they’re telling people to go if they want to be a part of it.
I wait in line, and then look in this large barrel with a bunch of numbered keys, and told to say out loud what number I want. I pick “1” and get the key named 1 on it.

I don’t win, but I get to be part of the audience. How this Wurm version of DoND is like this;
There is 20 large chests, each with a small chest and each have a different sum of coin. The object is to NOT find the one that has 20s in it, as that’s the highest you can win.
The gameplay is just like Deal or No Deal. One of the game hosts is in this fenced-in area with the 20 chests, and the guy who got the winning key tells the host which five chests to open, trying to get low numbers. For example, trying to get like 1i or 20c. Anything lower than 1s.
After five are opened, the “Banker” is called and the guy has to decide to take the banker’s deal, or pick more chests, trying to isolate the one with 20s. We the audience encourage the guy to make the right decision.

Meanwhile, back at Oceanside Retreat, my alt is still on, watching the place for me. He decides to head up the road to where the ruins are and notices alot of construction is taking place, and informs me. In the backyard of the area is a new settlement, called “Iron Hold”.
He goes over to the token and finds out the guy I saw about three weeks ago at The Howl is the owner of the settlement. The one named Irondragon.
He and his villagers have blocked off access to the mine, and the road that goes further east, which connected Oceanside Retreat to points east.
That’s not even his road. The guys from New BroVegas built it.

Due to him placing that deed there, I cannot expand my deed.

There’s only two things I can do about this..
1. Talk to this Irondragon and ask him to be allies with Oceanside Retreat.
2. Work on my own eastern road connects to the settlement’s secondary access path, and connect it to the road that New BroVegas made.

Fast forward several hours in the future (to keep myself from adding another blog post about this) I PMed one of the guys supervising Impalong. Was shocked when I heard MD was one of them, but I got one of them. I explained to him that I traveled halfway around the server, and have waited for four months for this day of days to come, that I appreciate that everyone took the time to help us but told him that I had things to do back home, I don’t feel like waiting this whole week, and to PM me when they’re done, and he said he would and understood. Little did I know he would be the one that would imp my lamps.

So I FINALLY left that place of madness (even before I left, one of the supervisors said that “you’re all crazy”. I wanted to say “Yeah.. ‘crazy’ to think this was a good idea to come down here”). When I got to the Cave Canal, the guy PMs me to verify which forge I left my lamps in. I tell him and he asked if I was sure I wanted them imped to 50, and since I didn’t want to be greedy (and 50ql is all I really need), I said yes.

Thinking that they may be imping them right now, I headed to New Galway which hasn’t changed the last time I saw it, infact it looks dead. And went to Vorgon.
At Vorgon, I got a PM from him saying “8 done so far”. I thanked him and quickly ran down the path to my boat, to head back to Festival Cove.
Due to the delightful Northeast gale in my face (and my current position on the server), I got there an hour after they were all imped.

I wanted to hug the one that imped them, and should had also said “Thank you all for doing this” in Local (and also giving them the sapphire I’ve been trying to sell for awhile) but all that was on my mind was getting back home and rest. And I did. I planted my lamps and.. here I am, typing this thing.

Two super epic dragon-related Cataclysm moments

They’re much more epic than what I’ve seen in WoTLK.

Epic moment #1 occurred when I was in Twilight Highlands. My pet wolf finally dinged to 85. I went to The Maul which has a bunch of Level 85 Elite tentacles.
This “maul” is actually a living being, called Isorath. The mission is to defeat its defensive .. things.
I started to get outnumbered. Shitload of red blobs closing in on me and I “died”.
Suddenly I get teleported back to The Maelstrom, with Thrall who says he saved me. I’m seeing Deathwing in the sky over the maelstrom.
He tells me I have to stop Deathwing, right here and right now, yet I can’t do shit. My mouse cursor doesn’t turn into a sword when hovering over him.
Plus, low on health too. There’s no way I can kill a boss.

Then Thrall tells me I failed, Deathwing has won, and the world is doomed. Then Deathwing flies over to me and Thrall, then suddenly he tells me to “Wake up!” and I find myself back inside Isorath in a protective bubble, and I’m told I have to kill the tentacles and the brain of the freak in here to escape.
I think what I just experienced was a bad dream, that I can relate to. The fact I don’t give a shit about gear, I doomed all of Azeroth. This might make me think twice about that, if the world depends on how good my gear is that is.
What I actually saw was a nightmare caused by Isorath from being devoured by it. A pretty scary one..

.
The second, more Epic moment #2 is also in Twilight Highlands. An Ambassador from the Alliance wants me to help the red dragonflight (the not-so friendly brood) with the Twilight Hammer. The flight has a hard time trying to erase the past of what us mortals did. Though I was never a part of this. So I head there and when I enter the area where they are, a red drake takes me off my mount and grabs me with his claws, which is where I’m told when the dragon lands that “my allies” caused so much death trying to protect Grim Batol with their lives.
To make this cluster of dragons an ally with me and the Alliance, I have to help them. The only reason they didn’t bite my head off is because I helped at Wrymrest Temple.
Soon the reds see I’m an ally and help out by stopping the Twilight Hammer inside of Grim Batol, which is said where Deathwing currently is. However, I’m tasked of killing all the outside forces.

Soon I’m part of an ass-kicking Alliance team clearing the way to Grim Batol on foot while the reds take to the air. At the end, Alexstrasza in her true form awaits me. She makes a decree that Deathwing will die for what he did to our world, and wants me to assist her in doing so.

Next thing I know, the ultimate fight is about to commence. A cutscene starts with Alexstrasza and one of her sons named Calen fly in and they shift to human form right infront of me (so fucking epic..).

(During almost the entire length of this cutscene, my pet wolf keeps getting in the way of my view so I couldn’t get awesome screenshots.)

Then the queen of dragons summons the corrupted aspect Deathwing to her.
Alexstrasza says she will have to end him, … “as I have ended Malygos”. I’m thinking “OHHH FUCK!!! It’s OVER?! SHIT I wish I was there to see it!!”
After some speeches of Deathwing acting like Darth Vader “death is permanent. death is inevitable”, he tries to burn her alive but fails, then the two fly off to do battle.
You’re told to go there ASAP and take out the Twilight Hammer’s elite dragon guards. At this time I cannot find a proper battle music in Winamp that would match the sheer epicness going through my body.

So I take flight on a red dragon, and it’s similar to that of Wrymrest Temple. I kill these easy to kill twilight drakes. In the sky over Grim Batol you see the two powerful aspects battling it out. After killing 8 of the drakes, the two will tumble down the side of the mountain.

Alexstasza is badly injured and back in her human form, then you see Deathwing fall through the sky, then she says “it is done”, but it’s not. Deathwing somehow comes back up and tries a final blow with more Darth Vader talk. The scripted you is told to get you and the queen out of there while Calen shifts back into dragon form and tries to hold the dark aspect back.

After the black out, you see Calen survived the ordeal and hear the queen has been taken back to Wrymrest Temple to recover, and Deathwing, now badly injured, is back inside of Grim Batol. This may give us mortals an advantage of destroying him for good.
Because of your heroic deeds, you are to assist the reds in defeating Deathwing’s brood for good, all the way to killing the remaining broodmother to wipe the Black Dragonflight off the map.
So you take flight again. What makes this epic is you see a bunch of red dragons flying in sync with you, like a dragon squadron.

All of this is 50% more epic than rescuing that Mage in Borean Tundra. It even took me awhile to go to sleep with the epicness still going through my body.
Maybe the word “epic” is overused. I think I prefer to say something like “FUCKING AMAZING!!!” to explain everything I saw.
I still can’t get it out of my head. That’s why I wrote this blog entry.
But you know what would be even more awesome? Becoming a dragon to defeat Deathwing, and having a new Dragon Form spell that can be used anywhere.
That to me will be the best thing Blizzard has ever done.

LEVEL 85 ACQUIRED!! o/

With maintenance looming tomorrow, I kicked my leveling speed into overdrive.
I finally repaired the World Pillar, and the tear between the world of rock and our world is slowly being repaired by Thrall and The Earthen Ring. I was surprised I only had to complete just a few quests for the Stonemother before she said “Ok, I believe you. Take your shard and gfto!”
After grouping up with another person to kill an elite, all three shards were finally locked in place and the pillar is repaired. The Stonemother herself helped weaken the elite enough for me to land the final blow before the elite could be Deathwing’s second in command.

After that I went to Twilight Highlands, but I had to complete a quest for the king of SW before then; escort the Prince of Stormwind. Years ago he was the acting King of Stormwind. I still remember looking at him as my Human Warlock and saying “That’s the king?”
It turned out the Twilight Hammer is secretly active in SW, which I stopped before they could blow up the cathedral and cause mass chaos.
They kept telling me that nomatter what I do, I cannot escape what will happen in the future. That “future” was actually seen in the Twilight Highlands. I saw what looked like the forces of the Blue Flight joining Deathwing. With Malygos on Deathwing’s side… Azeroth is fucked. NO ONE will be able to stop two powerful dragon aspects.

I eventually snapped out of the thought of the future and continued focusing on leveling to 85. Several times I panicked thinking I’m going to run out of quests, but it seemed like they knew what I was trying to do and wasn’t going to force me to grind.
And after turning in one final quest of rescuing someone, the moment finally came.
“You’ve reached
Level 85!”
showed up on my screen.

Did a little dance and then flew back home on my dragon, playing some proper victory music on the way back. On the way back I saw the Red Dragonflight as I flew by, like they were congratulating me. There’s also a place where you see the reds train for battle against Deathwing’s forces.

Back in Goldshire, it was raining and unusually quiet. Bigboss logged in and did his standard “i am the boss” speech. I asked him about seeing “him” in Uldum as an 83 Gnome Mage named Joeciver. He said it was one of his.. followers.
Later these two Level 30+ gnomes come in and act like they now own GS.
Then this other Level 85 and a Worgen Hunter telling me that those two are popular, and can “beat” a Level 80. The Worgen’s all “im serious lol”. It didn’t take much to know this one 85 standing before me is one of the little nimrods.

The rest of the night was boring so I went to bed, knowing it’ll be awhile for the servers to come back up. But I didn’t care. I got my 85.
All I’m going to do now is;
1. Get my Wolf up to 85 by heading back to the Twilight Highlands and complete all the remaining quests.
2. Work on my new Archaeology profession.
3. Continue working on Wrymrest Temple rep to get a Red Drake to call my own.
4. Maybe roll as a Worgen… something. Not sure yet.
