WURM | Two neighbors for the price of one / Multi-legged baddies

So I finally met my new neighbor, Irondragon. The same guy I saw back at The Howl.
We talked, said he founded the place two weeks ago, which is probably somewhere in early December. Possibly near to the day Cataclysm in WoW got released. Due to me being in WoW he didn’t know I was still active.

He showed me where this Peat deposit is that I was told about. It is massive; 3X the size of the one at the Valley of the Gods. He’s also working on his own East/West road. On the west end it connects to another new neighbor, but this one is more familiar. Sneakypete. He’s the one setting up all the roads (the heavy digging parts), including one along the coast that looks like it will connect to the clay next to my pier. Or possibly the pier itself.

If he does, then maybe he knows how to lower clay tiles. And maybe even better, if I’m able to play my cards right, maybe he can help me with my road projects.

But due to having more people, I have to increase security of my resources. I have to make another mine door, and this time add a secondary line of defense against intruders by adding a locked gate.
I don’t know what happened to my last one. Either it decayed or broke but I’m leaning more on decay, because nothing in the mine is touched.

My ultimate goal, and I hope they hop aboard this, is to make a canal that connects the west coast to the sea east of it, to make it easier for myself to get to the Freedom Market without having to go around the coast.

.
The next day I ventured into my mine to see if any hostiles popped up. Didn’t see any, but did notice the section of cave my alt discovered is caved in.
Behind it I saw a large scorp. And that scorp is keeping me away from my Iron vein. So I went back to my house, dropped everything and grabbed my pickaxe, and started hacking at the wall.
As the rock shards piled up, the wall finally broke and I just ran. I wasn’t seeing the scorp following me but I was seeing something else; two pairs of eight legs happily chewing at my flesh, even after I got out. I watched the bar of death ever so closer move to the left of my stam bar.
Then I slammed the cruise control button and yelled “guards!” a few times to get the bastards off my tail. Made it through the gate to my settlement as the tower guards came running up the ramp to do battle with the spiders.
I checked my wounds and saw a med. Knew I was fucked. But I also knew I had rags around the house somewhere and found them.
After several failures I got the Medium down to a Light wound. Thankfully the med was only 17 damage, and not up above 25.
I saw both spiders were Mature. Had they been stronger I would not be alive right now.

I waited for what seemed like forever for all my wounds to heal. I can’t believe it takes ten RL minutes for one health click. But I should thank what I felt was a Christmas Miracle that I was able to heal that med without a Healing Cover.

With all of my wounds now healed, I went back into the mine and lured the now known Aged scorp outside to play with the guards. It did no damage to me since scorps are slow, and died.
I then did another check and was relieved those were the only hostiles in the mine.

I assume that hostiles, just like in Minecraft, can spawn in caves. But hostiles in Wurm that spawn in caves only do so if the mine hasn’t been used in a long time.
The spiders I found out later were a breeding pair. If I had not killed them it would be alot worse with a bunch of little spiders.

I’m lucky to be alive. That’s all I can say.
