Duke Nukem Forever completed, my thoughts

Completed my first playthrough, yet I didn’t get the “Piece of Cake” achievement for completing the game in Easy Difficulty.

I played without cheats too. It was hard, having to find cover from enemy fire. But I had fun. And now I feel like playing again, just for an achievement run. This time I want to use a trainer since I played legit, so I’m worthy of one.
And thanks to cheathappens, I found one. I find my second playthough more fun the fact I have unlimited RPG rounds, and the RPG was one of my favorite weapons in Duke3D (especially during a bot Dukematch on one of my custom-made maps).

The game is based around being in and around Las Vegas. The year.. unknown. Maybe 2009 or something. It’s 12 years in the future after Duke3D. The aliens are back, but they aren’t here to kill everyone.. yet. Secretly, they’re trying to plot revenge against the one that kicked their asses. The President orders you not to attack so he can make peace with the aliens, but they do, unprovoked. And they drank your beer. It’s ass-kicking time.

So anyway, I mentioned in my previous post about the EGO bar. Turns out, you need to increase this bar by looking or doing things that Duke loves (himself, boobs, women, being awesome) to increase it. By increasing, you’ll survive better against tougher enemies. Plus you get an achievement for finding all hidden EGO increasers. Some of the ways to get EGO are nearly impossible. As in, you can get them but they take alot of time to get, such as the Pinball machine and the Air Hockey table.

Having no usable jetpack, was sort of a disappointment. But I assume they couldn’t get some levels to support this feature.. or something. Isn’t really a game-killer to me.

Some say the graphics are outdated and shit like that. I didn’t mind. My computer definitely doesn’t mind. I didn’t buy it for the graphics. I got it for the gameplay, which I do like. It’s fast-paced (alittle too fast-paced at times), and fun. Cover is critically needed to survive, and some cover can be destroyed (not talking just explosive barrels).

Some say the game is not “realistic”. Um.. it’s a game. It’s not supposed to be. Duke3D wasn’t realistic and I had fun, especially in the BUILD editor. However, this game did feel short to me. But I didn’t mind it.

Also, I finally got the “Piece of Cake” and “Gunslinger” achievements, on my second playthrough. Now I don’t have to carry around my pistol anymore. Speaking of weapons, I was half-wrong about you could only have a regular and a super weapon. You can only have two weapons at a time, but, you can replace your pistol with another super weapon (a “super weapon” consists of anything that doesn’t fire conventional bullets).

Duke is still as hilarious as he was with his one-liners. Such as “Step right up and GET SOME!”, and the new lines he says about the Octobrains, like telling them to go back to Japan.

There’s also quite alot of unadulterated things. Like when you’re in the hive, and some of the abducted women are.. the balls of a penis. Sick..

Duke Nukem Forever RELEASED, on Steam!

Folks, the 15 year wait has finally come to a close. The day we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. Duke Nukem Forever has BEEN RELEASED!! It’s a miracle! What’s better, it’s now available on Steam for $50. And there’s also a free demo so you know what you’re getting into before you pay for the full game. I’d never thought I would see the day, but there it is, black and white.

This was announced a half a week ago, about a DNF demo being available for download in my email. But I read nothing about it being on Steam, or even about it being released, until today. This is NOT a pre-order! It’s NOW! Already I’m downloading the demo to see how well it works on my computer.

.
And I just got done playing the Demo. And from what I’ve seen, it was worth the wait. There’s four parts to this demo. First part, is a video of Duke3D revisited. Showing what Duke did during it, including the Atomic edition version that included the two EPs. Also includes an ass-kicking music score. John St John never sounded so awesome.

Second part, you see a “Piss” option while facing a urinal, and you got to hold down the ‘Use’ key or Duke will raise a fit how he’s not getting his big thing in action. This is the part from E3 that they showed of Duke screwing up the chalkboard, and killing what was the final boss in Duke3D. The guy on E3 failed on his first try, but I got it. Was easy. At the end, it was irony with Duke playing as himself with an Xbox 360 controller.

I also learned about the new EGO bar. It’s Duke’s health bar, and it’s similar to Mass Effect, as in it regenerates when not in combat. Other words, I don’t think I’ll need a trainer for this thing.
Also learned about the new “Dukevision”, which is actually Nightvision.

The third part, and this is new.. never seen in E3. It shows Duke in a Jeep. You can run over enemies or get out and shoot them, your choice. I like that. After you make this jump which kills this rocket-launching guy, the Jeep runs out of gas and you go on foot towards this abandoned mine.
This comes with its own boss, who nearly kicked my ass but I took cover and got my EGO back up. You gotta use an RPG on this thing and kill it. Then you go into the mine, learn how to use these minecarts, get a gas can, and get the hell out of there.

The forth and final part shows a movie of what happened after Duke disappeared once Duke3D was over. For 15 years (though it says 12 in the game), the aliens have returned and tore up Earth. But when they start to steal our women, especially the cute ones, Duke will have none of this.

.
Alright, now for what I don’t like. One being you can only have two weapons at a time. A regular weapon, and a super weapon. Plus you got to hold down your Use key so Duke can grab ahold of it. But these are just minor complaints. Nothing that would deter me from getting this.
My computer runs it beautifully. Not one hint of studdering. Shockingly, it still uses the BUILD engine, but heavily modified from its unstable sector-based, sprite design.

WoW: Patch 4.2 getting closer, Blizzard “explains” nerfs / Fail raid on SP

On the launcher today, there’s a new thing about watching a trailer of the Firelands, called the “Rage of the Firelands”. This will be the official name for the patch. I assume this is indicating said patch is just around the corner. And the trailer is awesome. It features Thrall, still trying to heal the Maelstrom. He says “This world is dying”, then gets a vision of Ragarnos, destroying everything (and screens of the Firelands raid and the Molten Front). Kinda makes me wonder what I’m doing in the PTR is worth it. I guess I’ll just die trying to stop Azeroth from going up in flames. The trailer could be the thing that the bronze dragon shows you of Azeroth burning to get the staff.

News update: Patch 4.2 coming June 28th

Also, Ghostcrawler, Lead Systems Designer for WoW, made a blog post about the player nerfs in the patch tonight, explaining the reason for them. Most I didn’t care about since they had to do with Arenas, PvPing, and Raiding (and Death Knights crying that they aren’t the OP class anymore). But when he mentions the reason for slightly nerfing Multi-Shot for Hunters… “Multi-Shot was doing too much damage in PvE given how simple it was to use.” The bastards took away Volley. For them to nerf Multi-Shot would lower my chance to solo dungeons (not by much, but…).

.
Back in the live servers, I was in GS with a friend of mine. Suddenly someone starts asking others if they wanna do Sunwell Plateau. Seeing how this could be the first time I could do a full run, I agreed but telling them I got crappy gear. But they invited me anyway. Already it felt disorganized, with people leaving. It took like ten minutes until we had a half of a raid going and finally went there. During this, Cooleow was harassing me to help him in Northrend.

So I’m halfway there on Drago’s back, then I get summoned there. I accept, we wait to make sure everyone else is there and run in. Once in, I run over to where I was able to get the Blue Dragonhawk pet. Someone accidentally aggros one of the two groups, and nearly everyone dies. I suggest we run and we do, and I’m laughing at the fail in this raid (also when I notice this is a 25-man raid dungeon, and we have only 1/4 the people to do it).
I run back, and we managed to kill them all. Seems OK there. We get setup to make an attack, then one guy suddenly pulls a Leeroy Jenkins on a pat and the group we were planning to start attacking. Another wipe (I never died once in this raid). I’m still laughing here.

So we all run out with the leader trying to get more to join us. I stay behind with another to summon everyone back. We get a few more. This time it looks a bit more promising. We still don’t have 25 people, though. Go back in. People start leaving as we’re killing.
Then this one scene happens. Leader tells all of us to watch out for the group on the right. We hop the fence and go left, but a mob sees them and attacks, and one accidentally runs over to the group we were supposed to avoid.. lol. I felt like I was saving their asses there with one mob range-attacking me while I’m attacking the mob that started this.

FINALLY, what seemed like a half an hour… we get to the first boss, who happens to be Kalecgos. Leader never tells us what were supposed to do here, but you’re supposed to be attacking the corrupter inside of him to free Kalecgos. To get there involves entering a portal and DPSing the corrupter to death before he takes over Kalecgos’ mind. But it seems like everytime I ported, me and another person were the only ones there. Frustrated and with their gear breaking, half the raid left or logged off. Was pretty much over there. My laughter stopped since then and turned to frustration.

I told Cooleow that the raid was a fail since the start (since it was a PuR (Pick-up-Raid), and what happened. Comparing this to what I saw when I tried to do Black Temple when I was a Level 80, I say the BT run was better. At least we got past the second boss, and we had a much stronger, more disciplined raid.

WoW: Firelands dailies, Day 2 / “Jenkins” title / Driving Ms Cooleow

Went back to the PTR today to do what I hoped new dailies in the Firelands. Turns out.. only one of them were different. I had to kill Druids of the Flame instead of the Molten Behemoths. I guess that’s better since I don’t have to watch out for their damn meteors.

But that didn’t stop me from exploring the Molten Front (the soloable half of the Firelands). There was this one achievement you can get without doing a daily, called “King of the Spider-Hill”. You go to Widow’s Clutch, shoot the spiders on a Q-Bert-like mountain who “help you up” by pulling you up to them so they can kill you. I had to ‘solo kill’ them, meaning my pet couldn’t assist due to how small the platforms are.
Once you get to the top, you get the achievement.

There’s also some new dailies in Mount Hyjal. One involves doing a past Hyjal quest of climbing trees and chucking stuck bears from them to the landing pad. Due to how new the quest is, almost all the trees were occupied by other players. But there’s a twist with this version of it. Instead of chucking a bear at the pad, you can chuck it at a sleeping Core Hound. This helps with the achievement “And the Meek Shall Inherit Kalimdor”.

Back on my live char, I decided to finally complete the “Trolls, Ogres, and Orcs, Oh My!” quest I had since I came back to WoW, which means soloing LBRS. Was a piece of cake. The quest giver, a red dragon in an Orc form, had two more quests that involved doing UBRS. I accepted them and did it too.

.
During my UBRS run, I tried again for the “Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy!” achievement, based on the hilarious, yet old Youtube WoW video of a guy wiping out his group by running into the Rookery in UBRS and getting killed by the whelps. I’ve never attempted it as an 85.
I tried an idea. Gather up the whelps and let them attack me, let my pet attack one, Feign Death to get them off me, tell pet to Stay and stop attacking causing the whelps to attack my pet while I run back, and Multi-Shot them over and over. The first try I had 48/50. Seeing that I KNEW I could get this thing if I keep trying. And on the forth try… “You have earned the title Jenkins.” You could not tell how fucking THRILLED I was. I told everyone on my friends list, including Cooleow, who wanted me to help him get it.

.
I tried to talk him out of it, while selling my shit in IF (originally after the run I was going to head to MT and try to get that Phoenix Hatchling from the final boss), telling him the whelps will be all over him like bees to honey. But he wanted to try, and I agreed. So I resetted the dungeon and we went in.

Again, it took four tries. He was getting impatient with me, but I told him to stay calm. And finally he too got it. But that didn’t end there. He wanted 280% speed training, and I agreed to pay for it as long as he pays me back. He agreed, but I didn’t know he would pay me back in small payments. Plus he wants me to remember how much he owes me. I could take advantage of this situation, making him think he owes me more than what he’s actually paying, but that would be wrong. I told him if he started questing in Northrend, he would get the money back. And of course it didn’t end there. He asked if I would help him. I agreed to that, and I shouldn’t of.

At first I thought he was just going to begin..questing, but it seemed he was just killing random hostiles for no reason, and wasting my time. He wasn’t even turning in any quests. Plus, how is he supposed to get to 80 with me helping him? I’m sucking his XP away. Finally though he had to go, and I was able to go back home.

I still need to do that MT run, but thanks to him.. I’m exhausted.

WoW: In the Firelands

From what I’ve gone through, it was worth being taken advantage of when it came to the badges in Mount Hyjal. The place is a deathtrap. Not only do you have to watch your back, you got to watch out for flying meteors being flung at you by killable 85 Elites, which can do a shitload of damage. It’s like soloing a Level 85 Dungeon. Still, it’s a good challenge. I really want this on the live servers.
You unfortunately can’t fly. Have to use ground mounts. I believe its due to how hot the air is. Plus, if you remember from the Firelands Hatchery, the NPC said the air is thin.

How I got there, as I predicted I got the 20th badge today. Hamuul, the Taruen you give the 20 badges to, nearly dies of a trap by what is known as a Druid of the Flame. His body is now badly burned, and it’s unknown if he’ll survive. But you got to ignore this since the portal to the Firelands is now active.

So you step through, and immediately you’re under attack by spikes underground that seem to follow you everywhere you go. You have to kill this high HP boss to gain a base of operations there. Once done, Malfurion activates a seed which will be used as a base. Once the tree is fully grown, .. well, I dunno what happens.

Now, not only do you still got to get more badges to call for help (which requires 300 badges), but you can turn them in to get some nice gear from the quartermaster there. Some of the gear requires you to complete specific dailies to unlock.

There’s also achievements, and I got one called “Flawless Victory”, which involves killing a Molten Behemoth (the 85 Elites) without taking any damage. This is easy for any ranged/caster class with a pet. But getting said achievement wasn’t something I was aiming for. Staying alive was! I accidentally went too far away from the quest area and got myself into a heap of trouble. Barely survived the encounter.

So, you start doing dailies to get “acquainted” with the hostiles there, such as the 85 Elites I just mentioned. You don’t have to go far, as due to the tree, they come right over to it. But you still have to run right into the fray to do other quests. The ones I had to do were basically to set up defenses to keep the baddies away from the Hyjal portal, and heal warriors that were badly injured. This reminds me of what I saw when I first entered Outland, many years ago. I was there when the Dark Portal opened.

Once you get all of those dailies done, you’re pretty much on your own ’till the next day. So I decided to go back to Hyjal and saw two new quests. One involved Hamuul, and the other involved Ragnargos’ minions in Sethria’s Roost. This one is to go there, and you become leader of a team to kill six of these 85 Elites.

Well, they aren’t that bad until they start summoning small non-elite Fire Elemental adds, and my pet can’t seem to pull aggro off of me with them. They can unfortunately hit me pretty hard. I don’t think I’m going to do that daily again. Especially due to the “come back tomorrow and we’ll do it again” part of completing the quest.
The elites also do this fire shield, making them immune to all attacks. But I guess the only good thing about this is the elites aren’t taggable. Other words, you can get help with one without being in a group.

So anyway, I got all of them done. But probably the best thing is I’m making a shitload of money here! Already I have over 6k. I will definitely come back to continue these dailies.

WoW: Now in the PTR, learning its secrets

I got into the PTR on Friday evening, to learn more about what to expect with the upcoming Patch 4.2 and how this would effect me.
I started with copying Benie to it, and naming him Benietest (since you can’t use the same name on different servers). I joined the server ‘Anasterian’, since I liked the name, and got in.
Immediately I noticed that my talents got reset. I’m hoping that’s just due to the PTR. If not, then it’s what I can expect when the patch goes Live, and I need to take some screenshots before it does. I also noticed the Visionary buff I get when I use Arcane Shot, was active. At first it didn’t bug me. I thought it was normal for the PTR. I also popped up at the exact same spot I logged off after being disgusted I couldn’t help my Druid due to phasing.

So I used my “second account” (actually it was my primary) to log on Benie there and use him to get my talent trees back to the way they were. Also, I had to use Benie to set my GUI back, due to some unknown reason, which was copy pasting my settings outside of the game, failed to work.
Once I got everything set up I checked everything else. Since I’m not using my addons since I don’t know how “well” they would work in the PTR, I had to do everything manually. Saw I still had everything I did before, and flew to SW. Having the bubble the Visionary buff does made it hard to see in first person view.

The reason to go to SW was to check up on this thing I thought was going to be soloable of helping the Blue Dragonflight crown Malygos’ successor, due to the PTR patch notes saying “a hero” is needed (which should mean a single person). Instead… it’s all focused on that stupid legendary [Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest] staff that only well-geared raiders and high-leveled guilds can get their hands on. Meh… I wanted to save Azeroth again, by myself.
But thanks to Wowhead I already know who is the successor. It’s Kalecgos (who’s currently the Ambassador for the blues at Wyrmrest), and I’m glad he was chosen. I like him. He will make a fine leader for the blues. But the thing is… why did the blues take so long to do this? Was it because Azeroth’s “two moons” weren’t in alignment back then? Must’ve been.
Another thing. Since Kalecgos is the new Blue Dragon aspect, then why is he still the Ambassador for them in the PTR? This makes no sense. But of course, explain Alexstrasza managing to have clones of herself in dragon form. The Wrathgate, and in Twilight Highlands. Yet she remains in her Draenei female form at Wyrmrest.

Anyway, I did this new quest chain of assisting Thrall and the Dragon Aspects (and other notable figures in Azeroth’s history) to heal the World Tree in Mount Hyjal. That to me was good enough, since I feel I deserve the honor of being there for repairing the World Pillar in Deepholm (yet Thrall never acknowledged this). Unfortunately it goes bad when the Twilight’s Hammer steps in and “kills” Thrall by splitting him up four ways and sending them to the four elemental planes.

I did the quest last night, and I wasn’t too impressed by what I went through. It did get crazy at times, but the overall questing felt stale, repetitive, and rushed. It felt like a Mass Effect 2 DLC. It was that bad.
You get teleported by Aggra, Thrall’s secret girlfriend, to each one of the four elemental planes: Skywall, Vashj’ir, Deepholm, and of course the Firelands.
Your task is to kill enough neutral elementals, elite or non, to break Thrall free from each of these planes. You actually have to kill 20 each, for a total of 80.

As you’re killing, you hear Thrall talking (or having a vision) of his past and future. What really got me is the one in Vashj’ir, where he’s seen talking to the King of Stormwind in hopes to stop this senseless war of the Horde and Alliance. Now I know for sure that Thrall wasn’t a true Horde, and he wanted the same thing that I still do.. for this war to stop.

So anyway, back to the “wtf?!” parts. After saving Thrall’s rage side in the Firelands, I see Aggra crying for no reason, even as I see Thrall’s four sides coming back as one. He never thanks me for helping him until I step through this portal back to Hyjal.
Now we’re at.. a wedding, where Thrall and Aggra get married, and then he thanks me and gives me a reward, which is a replacement cape, and then…. that’s it. They seem to suddenly forget why they were even there in the first place. Um… hello? What about healing the World Tree?! They can’t be interacted with at this point.

Also, why were all the elementals (including the Elites) neutral to you, including the ones that Aggra claimed to be working for the Twilight’s Hammer in Deepholm?
Another thing, on the final one in the Firelands, it seemed it didn’t matter if another player stole your kill. All you had to do was tap the guy and you still got credit.
Someone please tell me this will NOT be the finished product…

And that’s just what I think about it. Blizzard could’ve done alot better than this. And I pray they will. I do not want to see this hitting the live servers. Not yet.

.
Also, about the buff I mentioned that was stuck, I finally found the source. It’s a trinket I had since after doing the “Put It On” quest in Vashj’ir. It’s called the [Severed Visionary Tentacle]. The buff boosts Spell Power. Now… I shouldn’t even be having this thing equipped in the first place. It’s made for Shamans… not Hunters. I guess I got it for the Hit Rating. But when I took it off, the buff went away and hasn’t come back since. And also, my gear score went up three points to 320, up from 317, just from removing that thing.

(I actually should have my gear score at 355, but…)

.
And yesterday (the 12th), I finally started doing the Mount Hyjal dailies, to get into the Firelands.. just to do more dailies. You get these badges. You get a total of 12 on the first day, 16 on the second day, and finally the 20 you need to call for reinforcements on the third day. You get four badges every day, by doing three dailies.
By doing these, will not only help Blizzard test these, but test my own char if he can handle them, since he’ll be going through the same thing once the patch goes live.

Something still makes me want to rage about this. After I did the first three, the NPC’s were all like “Please help us!”, and I’m “Of course I’ll help, just give me MORE FUCKING QUESTS!!”. And these.. badges. Why.. am I having to work for them that I will just hand them to another NPC, right next to the daily quest NPC?! Why doesn’t she just GIVE them to you?? Why am I doing THEIR work??

The bad thing about this, is you got to do most of the standard quests in Mount Hyjal leading up to healing the mountain. If I did these on live (which I would have to), I would not be able to help my future chars with these quests… even though my Druid didn’t really need help except for that one boss. He’s already done with Hyjal.

Still, phasing is keeping me from thinking of moving other chars from my primary to secondary account.

WoW: Duel-Clienting’s ups and downs, why I now hate phasing

My Druid was able to get up to 83, then he decided to go to Uldum instead of Deepholm. And that’s when it started. Suddenly it felt like he was a Level 80 again and just started Cata questing, just like my Rogue was.

I eventually volunteered to help him as Benie, and since then, we’ve did every quest together. As Benie, I did the quests I didn’t before. But now I feel I made a horrible mistake doing so. I will explain later.

This dual solo questing went all the way to getting that guy up the hill to secure it. My Druid had a plan and went Bear Form, and used it to get the enemies off the easy-killable allies and onto him. We made it all the way to the top and completed, with no ally force casualties! We also helped to take the city. Both on the first try. I was really feeling the bond I had with my Druid in the past.

.
This went good ’till he was doing the quests for Smotts. We were in the Cradle of The Ancients, and I wanted to help him kill those wolves for those pelts, faster. Then I noticed I could not see him, due to phasing. He was forced to have to kill the wolves on his own.
And that’s not the end of it. Almost the entire zone is phased in one way or another. But the fact I did those quests before, I can’t help my alt, or any future chars out.
What pisses me off is I didn’t know this would happen until it was too late. I did quests I had a very hard time on, on my Rogue, and now I can no longer help, thanks to Blizzard’s “beautiful” idea to do this. And there’s not a god damn thing I can do about it.

With some phased areas, it was simply “I did this before, so I can’t accompany my Druid to the next area, but I’ll meet him there by flying where the cutscene ends.”, but the ones with Smotts, and now at Nefferset City, are now all “This person did these quests before, so s/he cannot help anyone else with them, since the NPC’s have been changed.”.. see how fucking retarded that sounds? It’s Blizzard doing their asshole stunts and not caring about the consequences.

WoW: Dual-clienting again / Black Morrass got its ass kicked

This has been a rather interesting day for me. The reason I wanted to dual-client again was to help my Druid get to 85, that no one else seems to want to do.
But right now, it appears he didn’t even need me. He just needed training. But before it was ever done, I wanted to attempt something I never have done since I was a Level 70. To solo not only Old Hillsbard, but my arch nemesis.. Black Morrass.

I got both done, and I feel I finally redeemed myself. I still remember how hard I failed defending Medivh from the Infinite Dragonflight, while the other group members dealt with the elites.. at yet my determination was so strong to get attuned for Kara. I had to join Logain’s guild to finally get it done. All because I couldn’t DPS hard enough.
And now… not only did I defend the corrupt guy as he opened the Dark Portal, I kicked the asses of every elite I saw. Those painful memories can finally fade away.

When I got back to GS, .. ohh, I forgot to mention. Cooleow’s back! He knows nothing about me being hacked, and so I believe him. But now…., I think we’re nolonger in speaking terms. In a way I don’t care.
As I said, I got back. He immediately started harping on me about my gear, but I ignored him about that. He wanted me to “know” (which I already do) why people make fun of me in GS. This was due to the fact I told him a few days ago why I couldn’t ‘hang out’ with him in GS. He wanted to know why… like he forgot why I left back in December 2010. I tried to get him to change the conversation, but he wouldn’t stop. He wanted to ram his opinion down my throat and expect me to care. So then Malini comes on. I noticed she was in SH (Sethekk Halls), so I asked her how did the run go. Cooleow continued to hammer down the fact I need to get better gear, and again I ignored him.
Finally Malini spoke to me, and told me she did it in Heroic mode. This is something I’ve been thinking of doing myself, to maybe spice things up when it comes to soloing Outland dungeons. Doing SH in Heroic gives you a chance to get the flightless bird ground mount from the final boss, called the “Raven Lord”. Has the same animations as a raptor mount.
Asked her how she did it, and it’s just how I thought. You need the key to unlock Heroic mode. But with the removal of keys in the upcoming Patch 4.2, I’m not sure if it’s worth grinding up rep. But now I know it’s possible. I just need to find out about the heroic difficulty key.
Cooleow on the other hand, didn’t give a shit the fact I play for profit. And that’s the last time we spoke to eachother. IMO, I don’t care. He’s a spaz and a pain in the ass at times. Meaning sometimes it’s like he can’t live without ‘hanging’ with me in GS.
I never asked for his help, yet he claims I did. Only back in December I did, and I told him to forget it as it will never sink in. I’m too stubborn.

Anyways, seeing that his days of clinging to me are hopefully over, I began the task of dual-clienting. First I simply ran another instance of WoW for about an hour to see if my video card would allow it, and it actually ran perfectly. A far cry from what I saw back when I had WoTLK. By then I was convinced I could dual-client again. The only thing keeping me from doing that is the fact I forgot my password, and the email address it was placed on. So I tried to call Blizzard up, but it seemed they had gotten rid of their phone service and they’re now using support tickets instead of having you email them.

Instead, I thought of maybe creating a new account with WoW and just start over. That didn’t do so good, but gave me an option of merging an old account. Suddenly I remembered what I named the account and tried to put it in the form, and used the reset password option.
It seemed like my secondary account was tied to my primary email address (since it doesn’t recognize my secondary), yet I didn’t receive a thing. I then noticed on my second monitor an option to call Blizzard’s billing/account services, and went with it since this is what I wanted in the first place.

After a nine minute wait, the person asked me for my security answer. Didn’t know it. Had to go through hell to prove I was me but I got it done, and got the second account re-activated. They told me my second account wasn’t attached to any email address. I found this strange. So she tells me she will add it to my primary. I don’t have to put the account on my secondary email as I thought I did. On top of it, I can switch between accounts on the login screen, and my keychain authenticator works on both. So I got Cata on it, and got my secret answer written down. Now all that needs to be done is to move my Druid over. I wasn’t able to, so I had to call again. They told me about this wait period keeping me from doing it ’till Thursday She had to bypass that wait time on her side and managed. So now it’s done.

I did the training with him, and I believe I figured out where he’s screwing up. He’s not using Mangle. So now I feel I wasted my money as he seems to be able to handle things on his own, but I’m trying to see good in this. Guess I could say, it’s there if I need it.

WoW: What’s been going on

Guess I should explain what’s going on since it’s been awhile from my last blog entry.

First off, Darkcash is in his 50’s. He’s a 51, currently in Winterspring. Beefhunter, is doing something I swore I would never do again. Working on Netherwing rep. He’s currently… revered with them! Almost halfway.
Benie, is now revered with The Oracles, and able to get the [Mysterious Egg], which has a chance of hatching into a Green Proto-Drake, a pet, or.. a failure.

After being delayed yesterday due to a.. well.. “life-threatening” risk of severe weather, I’m re-questing on Darkcash. Ever since leaving Ashenvale, the “KILL ALLIANCE” quests have stopped, then restarted in Stonetalon. At there, I got jipped of where I could go, so I went to Desolace for three reasons.
1. Memories. Desolace will always be my favorite classic zone (the majority of players would disagree with me on that).
2. My first Warlock (and was my highest-leveled char at the time) was last seen there, when his last level was a 45.
3. To do the new quests. And there were lots. Even some classic ones. Goblin still needing bones at the Kodo Graveyard, except the dead kodos there are no longer elite, thank Blizzard for that.

I got all of that done, got to Felwood later on, and now in Winterspring. I also have the Mechanical Chicken pet for doing all three quests to get it.
Also, playing as a Warlock is much easier than it was three years ago on “Bennie”, my first Warlock (and the char I learned all about WoW). They got rid of quite a few things. For example;
Drain Mana is gone for some strange reason.
Soul Shards are no longer required to summon your minions.
You get three soul shards total, which can be used to give some spells a boost. Don’t need a soul bag.
You don’t need food or drink with the new Soul Harvest spell that heals you (can also be used to gain soul shards).
You get a Felguard at Level 10, instead of Level 50. This is the best minion for soloing.
No more class quests make me happy. 🙂
Similar to my Hunter, there’s a ‘choose pet’ spell instead of having to add each minion to my spellbar.

.
.
Onto Beefhunter. Since Benie’s the first char I have to be a dragon rider (a Nether Drake and a Red Drake), I’ve decided I wanted one on the Horde side. I remember the hell I went through, but I felt ready, since I was going in as a higher level. Before, Benie was 80 (since 80 was the level cap back then). I can take on the patrolling elites in Netherwing Fields, and win.

And my obsession for the elusive Netherwing Egg, has reached a new level… delusional. One time I swore I saw the purple puffs of smoke of an egg on a hill, but there was no egg. My eyes are playing tricks on me or something. I’m guessing the reason is because, for two times, I found NO eggs in the mine. Making me a bit depressed.
You see, when I first started I had a whopping eight.. EIGHT eggs on me! I feel that’s higher than Benie got in one go. As I went on, I got 5-6 eggs pretty much every single go. I thought to myself that if I keep this up, I would be Exalted by this coming weekend. Then it slowed down to 4. And now… 0. No eggs in the mine. No eggs in Dragonmaw Fortress. No nothing!! This is really starting to concern me.

.
.
Moving on to Benie, to get away from the duel-happy town of Goldshire, I flew to Scolazar Basin and to Rainspeaker Canopy, the Oracles’ base, and continued to do the three dailies there. I was already half through Honored when I started it. After a half a week (and forced to wait another day since I had 19 rep left to Revered and they wouldn’t give me another quest ’till the next day) I got there and got the egg.
I waited the three days, and it was a failure. Got another one and I won’t know its fate ’till this Sunday. You used to have to wait a week until you could try again, but it got nerfed to three days. Glad for that.

So that’s what’s going on. Pretty much it.

WoW: Enter the Goblin Warlock, Darkcash

So I finally did it. I made a Goblin Warlock, and named him Darkcash. Funny that Darkprofit was taken.
I’ve ran through the Goblin side, and I really liked what I saw. First, it was night so I couldn’t see much.

I did really enjoy the Goblin side. But I noticed two things that first bugged me;
1. No other players. I was pretty much the only one there.
2. Freezing Lag when in a vehicle. It was similar to what I went through with the Fusion Core on Beefhunter in Uldum, but it was happening very frequently. No NPC’s were showing up. Most times, it froze my zoom controls up. Thought of making a GM ticket, but I’m sure they’ll tell me it’s my addons. Tried disabling some but it was still happening.

So, it starts off as you, being the boss of a drink popular in Kezan, the town you’re in, called “Kaja’Cola”. The secret for your success is a rare mineral called “kaja’mite”. You’re working up the corporate ladder to become the new Trade Prince. You got executive assistants, a sweet ride, a girlfriend, and three friends to hang around with. You’re also a champion at some sort of football-like sport, called “Footbomb”, where the ball is a bomb, that involves those shredders the goblins are known to always have around.

Deathwing decides to make an unscheduled appearance after you make a winning field goal, saying that darkness has fallen and make peace with your end. No one but you knows who the dragon is or what he’s capable of doing, except your executive assistant who freaks out of the news (“You’re kidding, right?! DEATHWING?!!!”). Yet life manages to go on. She still wants you to do the party in your honor.. praying that we’re not all doomed. Said party goes good.. until Mount Kajaro, the volcano that Kezan is behind, starts to erupt and attacks the town. Now you got to get off the island. And everyone’s panicking.
Gallywix offers you a ticket off, but it costs a fortune. A bazillion macaroons. You have to do alot of shit to get up the money, then you, your friends, and your executives are on the boat, and it’s a trap. Gallywix decides to turn all of you into slaves and go to Azshara.

During a truly amazing cutscene that looks like it came out of a movie (the facial expressions were awesome. So awesome I couldn’t get a screenshot of any of it..), the boat you’re on gets in the middle of a fierce naval battle between the Alliance and Horde. One of the Alliance ships sinks your ship, due to wanting no survivors. Kind of a heartless thing to do of the Alliance.

Now you’re stranded near a desert island, near death, but not alone. You’re resurrected by a fellow goblin. Now you must survive on this uncharted island. This leads up to defeating Naga, and meeting the Horde and helping them out.

You also see Thrall, imprisoned by the Alliance. He’s the “precious cargo” you keep getting told about. This leads me to believe that this is the event just after the Cataclysm, Thrall made Garrosh the new Warchief of the Horde (even though Thrall is still listed as the Warchief in this. He’s also wearing the same outfit seen when you hit Level 80), and they’re heading to the Maelstrom to keep Deepholm from collapsing into Azeroth. But the Alliance somehow thought that this is a chance to capture him and take him to Stormwind. The fools. Thrall’s the only one trying to save Azeroth! He helps you out later on by dealing with the Trade Prince.

Later on, you accidentally cause the dormant volcano on the island to erupt by killing this flaming turtle with a multi rocket launcher. Now this island too will blow. You find out Gallywix has kidnapped your friends to get revenge on you. Finally, Thrall helps you defeat Gallywix, who Thrall shockingly allows Gallywix to remain as the trade prince and establish a base of operations in Azshara, and for the goblins to join the Horde.

Thrall tells you alittle later that he will see you again in the future (when you’re Level 80) and wishes you luck. Then you board this boat and get the fuck off of the island before it blows.

Now you’re with the Horde, and you start questing in Azshara… and the rest is unimportant.
If I was to vote which has the best start area and story of the two new races of Cata… I would have to say.. the Worgen. Don’t get me wrong; the Goblin side is amazing, but it isn’t really as .. immerse in the lore of Warcraft as the Worgen side.
The Goblin side… has alot of plot holes. It doesn’t explain why is Thrall doing there, or why he’s still the Warchief when Garrosh is, or why he made Garrosh the Warchief. The player has to assume.
Another thing.. what were the Alliance even doing there? Did they get intel that Thrall left Org and went to capture him? He said that the Alliance found him unconscious on the shore and put him in a magical cage to keep him from connecting to the elements. Again, the player has to assume.

Another reason why the Worgen side is better, is the Cataclysm was more… realistic. I mean, Deathwing shows up and there was no sudden major earthquake. There was a major earthquake on the Worgen side.
Look at how close the town is to the Maelstrom. Deathwing came out of it. According to the climatic video of Cataclysm, there was a major earthquake due to Deathwing breaking free.
Also, the seas weren’t rising, and they were on the Worgen side.
