WoW: Gear Pains / Time out with Heol

I’ve been wondering if I should just cancel my subscription ’till the next EP, since there’s nothing to do that I can do. So I thought, what if I continue mining, but just to get some better gear in the AH to be able to do more?

Well, that’s a good plan. But my motivation sucks like my gear does. Spent half the day in GS, in my dragon form. Decided to do the TBP dailies, except bringing my Rogue instead of my Druid. Been thinking of respecing my Druid to Resto so he can heal me during soloable raid dungeons like MC and Kara, or the tougher to solo (according to Heol and BoBo) dungeons in Dragonblight.

Anyway, when I got back from eating my dinner, Cooleow logs in almost the same time I get my Rogue back on, tries to group me but can’t due to being grouped with my Rogue, then tries to join me in SW when I get back (since I forgot my Druid’s the only alt that’s done the Hyjal dailies, the same pace I have). When I try to go drop off my Rogue in GS and pick up my Druid, Cooleow stops me and follows me back to GS, then hops on my back when my Rogue hops off.
We talk for awhile, and he starts telling me that we (as in me and him) should start doing randoms. I reluctantly agree in hopes of shutting him up about it. About ten minutes after he makes a group, we get queued into Grim Batol.

I immediately start to freak out, knowing this is where Deathwing is supposed to be after the battle between him and Alexstrasza. Yet I kept quiet through the entire run, hoping it wouldn’t be a repeat of my last random dungeon of being kicked for not hitting hard enough.
We wiped twice on two bosses, once per each boss. First time it was the tank’s fault. Second time.. I think it was mine. But I corrected myself on the second try.

But the reason for making this blog post.. there was two pieces of armor I needed. The first one, a ring, I won from doing a Greed roll. And the second one, a pair of pants, Cooleow won on a greed roll.
Why didn’t I Need on both? … I didn’t want to piss anyone off. I don’t want to compete for gear. Competing meaning taking gear the others want to sell. I just hate pissing people off. What’s worse, Cooleow didn’t help me out once in making a gear decision. There was no “dude, need that thing!” coming from him.

I never told him about how he didn’t help me after the run was over and we went back to GS. Only that it was “a waste of time”. Because I will never learn what stats I truly need. And even if you told me, they won’t sink in.

I decided to talk to Heol about what happened, since BoBo didn’t seem to care. He kept me from quitting, even when telling him I’ve been playing off and on for four years and I should had learned what stats are critical a long time ago. He told me when he gets his shit fixed, he’ll gear me up for heroics. So I’m looking forward to that.

Anyways, me and him did a few things to pass the time and avoid going back to GS and do nothing. We did some heroic runs in TBC, saw some stuff, talked. And that’s basically it. Thanks to him, I got something to do tomorrow.

WoW: Cata’s little secrets: The Whispering Forest and the Resort

Today I was trying to think of something to do that wasn’t something I’ve done before in WoW, that’s doable.
I encountered a blog post in Curse about someone discovering an area I’ve never heard of, called the Whispering Forest. It’s in Southwestern Tirisfal Glades, in the mountains far west of the Undead start area.
What caught my eye, well.. there’s these Faerie Dragons that fly around this strange ring of glowing mushrooms. And every six hours or so, they will all fly towards the ring, and begin to .. sing, while firing these beams toward the center of the ring. It’s said they open a portal to their world.
What’s strange is all the forest animals up there all gather around to watch them, for what seems like 1-2 minutes, then the dragons disappear.

Seeing how that gave me something to do, I flew over, using the marker on the map the person showed, and saw it for myself. The blog claims that seven Faerie Dragons spawn, but not all at once. When I arrived, I saw all seven.
About a half an hour after I arrived, I saw all seven of them come over to the portal and do their thing. They created a “Faerie Circle” where all the beams meet up, but it isn’t a portal. They did this for a half a minute, broke off, flew away and disappeared. What a strange place this is.

.
.

Also, something not quite as new, but also pretty cool, my Druid one day discovered this strange Resort, in southern Feralas. It’s a part of “The Steam Pools”. NPC’s from every known player race (except Worgen) are there, enjoying themselves. You can talk with them, but that’s basically it.
The resort consists of a beach. Hot springs, and the “resort” itself. The resort looks nothing like a hotel. Just a bunch of goblins that you can only talk to.

Both areas have Level 85 creatures, but the Whispering Forest has 80-85.

MC solo’d, and Rag is a pathetic boss

I came back to WoW yesterday after a nearly two week “hiatus”. Actually, I was playing Google Earth, “driving” to California, to say hi to angry. But since the trip has taken over a week, when in real life the trip would’ve been done a long time ago.. I just “went back home”.

Coming back, I found myself in the middle of a battle between Terlarer and Moonlight. They are both saying eachother is lying. I ended up saying I didn’t want to be a part of it.

Today, after asking BoBo how he got into MC (Molten Core), I went in with my Druid. The thing about you can only do this in Heroic mode was another way of saying you have to be in a raid group.
Immediately I noticed how long it took to bring down some mobs. And in this one hallway that leads to the Core Hound boss, there’s these Core Hounds, grouped together. Killing one, and it’ll come back to life with full health within ten seconds, due to the others still being alive. You have to weaken them all to something like 30% health to kill them all, to not risk one coming back.

The bosses were the most challenging, which is obvious. But I say Majordomo is the hardest, due to having seven adds assisting him. You can’t focus your attacks on just him; gotta kill his assisters before he submits, then he summons Rag.

And for Rag.. wow. Compared to what I’ve went through, he’s pathetic as a final boss. All I did was just stand there firing away, with my pet sometimes getting knocked back. Sometimes he uses fire attacks on me, but they don’t hurt.
Only other attack he uses is when he’s at 15% health, goes down and adds appear. But still, that was pathetic. He didn’t even use his famous “BY FIRE BE PURGED!” line.
I mean, the battle in Hyjal was better than that. He did alot more than what he did in MC.

But at least, I can say I finally did MC after all of these years. And what’s better, I solo’d it.

“[Benie] has earned the achievement [Vial of the Sands]!”

Another “I thought this day would never come” post. Well, really I did think this day wouldn’t come. I just didn’t feel like I would ever get it.. I almost nearly didn’t get it.

BUT I DID!!! 😀 And I’m really enjoying my new Dragon Form. Now, it wasn’t worth the time I put into it, and the grief I had to endure. But I’m glad it’s finally over. And what’s even better? I got the vial, legit. I had almost given up trying, or thought of… buying the gold to get the 40k to get it. But I’m glad I didn’t. It was my Druid who convinced me to not go down that dark road again.

I had a whopping 31k in one time of my WoW life. BoBo used his guild’s Bartering buff to lower the price on two of the most pricy mats of making the vial, and said all I would need is 6k more and it’s mine. Well, for some time, I thought all I needed was just 6k. But I kept forgetting I need 6k + the 5k left over from the 31k, to give me 11k.
Yesterday, I was a bit leary if I should mine at all, hearing what Heol said that Uldum mining is pretty bad due to competition on the weekend. But BoBo suggested I just go on and try. Since I was bored as hell, I did, and from what I saw, the only real competition was the bots. So I continued my mining, getting an idea in my head to reduce the “UGH! This is TAKING FOREVER!!” feeling, by getting my small 20 slot mining bag all filled up with Elementium, get to the AH, sell, repeat.

By the third sell, I had my 11k. So I hurried to the AH and looked at the Truegold. And my anger level shot up along with the price. It went up 60s overnight! According to Trade chat, this is due to Blacksmiths having more things to make. That damn Supply and Demand shit. But… I closed my eyes and started to hit the Buyout button 12 times, got the bars, and bought the 8 flasks I needed. Noticed I still had money left over, freaked out and told BoBo. I now have all the mats to make the vial!

He started searching around for someone to make it for me, and found one, but was getting ready to do a ZA run. Told me to PM the guy, so I did. He said he should be done in an hour and he will make the vial no problem. But there was another problem. One directly heading for Goldshire. So I went back, told my Druid, and we waited.
A half an hour later, I decided to run out and saw BoBo talking to a few people. Chatted with them. And then they came. About 15-20 flagged Horde enter Heol’s Inn and start to grief up the place. Me and my Druid quickly evacuated to my safe area incase of an emergency like this. And while people and General chat nearly begging for people to help kill the Horde, I continued to wait for the guy to PM me, but I knew it would take a bit longer, since my Pyrite sales haven’t shown up.
When I was still in SW, my Pyrite sold about three minutes before I sent the guy a PM. Soon the hour passes, Pyrite sales show up, but not a PM from the guy. So I try to PM him, and he says he just got done with the run, and to meet in SW with the mats.

So I do, give him the mats, he makes the vial, and gives it to me. Before I have time to grab it and put it over my head and scream “VICTORY!!!”, the guy wants me to give him a ride around SW. So I drink the sweet taste of the vial and get the achievement. So I fly him around SW for my first flight in my new Dragon Form, land him, go to my Druid, fly him around Elwynn with some appropriate, epic music playing.

And so… I’m happy. 🙂 I finally got what I wanted. And getting it legit feels even better. But what am I going to do now, you ask? Well today I got a Nexus run to do, going to max out Arch, and may go back to mining..but this time, not as needy of my ores to sell. I may still get my Worgen Rogue’s new Tailoring/Enchanting skills up, to help my Goblin Warlock on the Horde side who has the same thing.

Will I get the vial, for Beefhunter? As of right now, I’m not sure. I might. Then again I might not. If I do, it will help Darkcash out. Now that I see how easy it is to get up 37k, I might.

Mining for the Vial / Deathwing torches Uldum / Kara solo run

Been a crazy week. So much to talk about. First off, I got 26k in the bank. Yes, you heard me right! And I got it LEGIT! 😀
I’m now mining in Uldum. I got Mining up to 525, and selling Elementium and Pyrite ores in the AH. How I got to this point? Well..

There’s a guy, who plays mainly girl chars. His name is BoBo. One day, I was in the GS Inn (aka Heol’s Inn), talking about how awesome the vial is. BoBo, who trolls GS, told me it’s a waste of money. But one day, challenged me and Heol to get the vial before he did. I knew he would get it first, because he knows alot of legit secrets to get lots of money.
I kept trying my plans. One is to continue where Troy left off on my Druid. He got my Druid’s Alch to TBC maxed. I got it up to Cata maxed, with Herbalism and tried to sell his goods. He sometimes gets pretty good tips, but mostly crappy ones.

BoBo and even Heol suggested I get my Mining up. My Tauren Hunter was the only one at the time that had mining, but now I do. At first, I panicked when the ores didn’t sell. But now I’ve developed a nearly surefire way that they sell everytime. Keep the price in and around 70g per stack. But even without mining, my guild bank’s money began to fill up. I had 12k before. Then 14k. Then 17k. … Now I got up to 26k, and I’m not done yet.
BoBo did get the vial before I did, which was obvious. But he proved to me that you can get it without buying gold. He said that I could save up to 10k if I bought the mats for the vial, and knows a friend of his that can make it. But I need 37k for everything.

.
Anyways, moving the blog post along. I was mining last night with my Druid in GS. The sky suddenly changed to a red color and I heard this unique sound. I knew what was about to happen, so I posted “Ohh fuck. Deathwing incoming!!” in General chat, mounted up and tried to find him for the achievement.
Around the Obelisk of The Sun, I saw him burning the area, and flew right over to him. Second I touched him, boom, got the achievement.
After then, General chat started to become active with people asking “where?!”. When I got to my corpse, the entire area was ablaze. Respawned, flew up and followed the trail of fiery destruction left over by Deathwing. The capital city of Uldum, Ramkahen, was on fire. It was so wild. About three minutes later, the fire disappeared as the sky went back to normal. When I landed, I saw bodies everywhere. Alot of people got the achievement.

.
For the third blog post topic, about 4-5 days ago, Terlarer wanted to do Kara, and wanted me to come. He told me that he could solo the entire raid, so I was curious.
And solo’d he did. Had some trouble with Netherspite, but got it done. On the 26th, I planned to do my own run with my Druid. I needed my Druid to make it a raid group, and to help me do the Chess Event. Had alot of fun. I soloed every boss… except for Netherspite. Tried everything I could think of. You’re supposed to keep the healing beam off of him during the nether portal phase. But the thing is, it puts a cooldown on you for three minutes, that you can’t adsorb the beam.
In other words.. the fight was pointless, and next to impossible. My Druid tried to make me remember that this boss is optional; not needed to be killed to continue further through. So we continued ’till we hit the Chess Event. Another failure. :-/
You got to keep the king healed, yet you can’t heal yourself. And everytime that bastard cheated, he won.
It reminds me of playing TSO, of trying to do the Diner job on my own. Another having to think quickly minigame, that I fail so hard at.
The reason I did the run was to prove two things to me; 1. To do it. And 2. For the high sell BoP drops.

Still, I loved the Opera area. This time, I did the Wizard of Oz event. Was hilarious, and I killed all of them with no problems. And then having to dodge the tornado during the witch battle. I wanted to do the Big Bad Wolf one. THAT was hilarious. “All the better to own you with!”

WoW: Normal maintenance schedule again. :P / Swifty, the god of all Warriors

I knew it was too good to be true. It was obvious they were testing if they could annoy anyone with the earlier maintenance last week. Seeing how they could not, they went back to their regular maintenance schedule. Typical Blizzard idiocy right there.

Another thing could be because of them being angered of what happened yesterday on another server; Darkspear. One of my friends from a very long time ago was “born” on that server, as I was “born” on Alexstrasza (the server, not the dragon). He mentioned in his Real ID about unbanning this “Swifty” person. And apparently he wasn’t the only one.
In GS, people start mentioning how the Darkspear server is down, and they start chanting to free Swifty. I asked my friend, who is this guy. He describes the guy being “the god of all warriors”, and how this guy has made Warrior videos on Youtube since WoW began, and is an all-around good guy on his server.
However, this other guy starts telling everyone to join the Darkspear server all at once, for some unknown reason. This causes the server to crash, and Blizzard bans Swifty instead of the guy that caused the crashed server.

Now I’ve never seen this guys videos, or actually seen him, but I couldn’t stand seeing an innocent person being banned for a crime he did not commit. My friend told me that everyone is starting to join the server to make Blizzard think twice about banning the guy. He wanted me to help, but I told him that I could not. For two reasons;
1. I’m not a regular of Darkspear.
2. If their plan fails, everyone has a risk of being banned.

Yet, their plan did not fail. Blizzard unbanned Swifty, but no word they banned the real reason for Darkspear’s crashing. But with this maintenance, I feel they’re doing it as a feeling of rage.

There wasn’t anything wrong with my server, despite the lag. But that’s normal.

WoW: And you thought Molten Behemoths were a challenge…

I’ve unlocked the next phase in the Firelands invasion, on Benie. Instead of waiting ’till I got 300 marks, I decided to just get 150 marks to start off with one, then with that combined with the current dailies, will increase the speed to get the second one. Got 155 marks tonight, so I did the “Druids of the Talon” one.
The quests leading up to it give you access to a new, previously inaccessible section in the Molten Front; The Furnace. The area is impossible to access due to all the fire leading up the path.

I tried to dual client it. It’s impossible due to hostiles attacking the guy trying to get you through, yet he won’t help you out as the hostiles mercilessly bitch slap you to death. Once you finally get to the top, you got to kill another 85 Elite to gain access to this underground area, which is half the size of the Molten Front.

Once there, you have to go on foot up to a quest giver who gives you two dailies. Both relating to this new underground area. Now, the new area is quite profitable. Yes, they actually drop coin when they die instead of trash! I’m actually going to like questing down here.

Except for three things…
1. High respawning, high HP, high hitting enemies.
2. Hunter enemies use Disengage, Kill Command, and ignore Feign Death. Thankfully that’s all they use.
3. Sometimes they can grab your pet and make him eat lava for awhile, leaving you defenseless against additional attackers.

Now, this would still be OK for dual clienting since my Druid gets credit for my kills, like what I normally do in the Molten Front. The idea is to get double the cash for dailies. But there’s a quest requesting you get these hard to see and exceptionally hard to get fire flowers. I get one, and my Druid doesn’t get credit. This will not do! I can’t protect him AND myself at the same time. It’s not like soloing a low level dungeon.

These enemies are insane enough. Introducing my Druid into it would make it next to impossible. These guys make fighting Molten Behemoths, child’s play. I’m not saying I can’t take them, but not with my Druid there. Only way this will work is if he does his own killing so I won’t have to worry about him. But he died trying to do the quest of getting up the fiery path.

And if that’s not bad enough.. get ready for this. It’s a DAILY! Yes… I will be forced to have to do that quest, EVERY FUCKING NIGHT, just to do the dailies! I may just ban myself from it! It makes me sick just thinking about it.

WoW: Maintenance tomorrow, but not normal / The Nexus solo’d, by Beef

First off, Terlarer seems to have.. disappeared from my friends list. I got him on Real ID. Real ID lets you talk to your friends on either faction. But today his name disappeared from it.

So I got on Benie and waited. A half an hour later he showed up. Asked him what happened. He said his parents made him remove the Real ID, due to security reasons. This is bad, for him. He won’t be able to contact me and ask for help when I’m on the Horde side. And I’m not about to move Darkcash over. Getting tired “generously” giving Blizzard $25.00 everytime I need something done.

.
Heol is back. Been back for at least two weeks, still taking care of Heol’s Inn in GS. He told me today that the servers will be down for maintenance tomorrow, but earlier than normal. Asked him how early. He said 4am to 10am my time. This is great! I won’t have to wait for the servers to come back up since they’ll be back up by the time I wake up.
To say this is going to be the norm for all future scheduled maintenance, I don’t know. I hope it is. Don’t mind the servers going down that early in the morning. No one needs to be playing WoW that late anyway. Usually the servers go down at 7am to 2pm my time.

.
One last thing. Beefhunter solo’d The Nexus yesterday! I thought it couldn’t be done, but he did it. The final boss was a challenge. Not the fact you got to constantly jump to keep the Frost damage debuff off you (have to use Aspect of the Fox to use Cobra/Steady shot to gain Focus), but she has a shitload of health, and it took a minute to bring her down. I did it for Darkcash who needed the run. It was still alot of fun. My alt only got one thing from it; a pair of boots from the final boss.
This makes my second solo’d Wrath dungeon. Amazing what you can do at 85. And here I was worried about if I could do Botanica. lol

So far running my alt through dungeons is going good. It’s just what he needs. It’s like having another 85 running you through, but I charge nothing. And my alt is actually getting some decent dungeon gear on him. Now if only Blizzard would improve the new Dungeon Journal to include all EP’s, including Classic dungeons and raids. Then I could see, for future alts, what runs would benefit them the most, gear-wise.

WoW: The week ends with a bang

Haven’t posted lately. Alot of things have happened, but aren’t really needed of separate blog posts. So this is what’s been going on;

1. Got my Druid to 85. I finally decided to put phasing behind me and help when I can. And it finally paid off.
2. Me and my Druid are doing the Firelands Dailies.
3. Benie got a new pet. One of the Lava Spiders from the Molten Front. Named it HotLegs.
4. Beefhunter helping Darkcash. Lots of firsts with this. First time soloing a dungeon as a Horde char. First time helping an alt on the Horde side. First time helping an alt through a dungeon. Due to this, Darkcash is 68 now. Closing in on Northrend soloing.

The final one that needs a bit more attention is Midsummer Fire Festival’s closing festivities – the fireworks that happen on the hour every hour. Me and my Druid flew to Booty Bay around 7:40pm server time (8:40pm my time). We saw the show, but it just wasn’t the same. There was hardly anyone there. I expected the same crowd I saw when I saw the show as a Level 60, in that guild. But it was a ghost town.
I tried to get my friends down here and join me. Some were too busy, and others don’t give a shit about virtual fireworks.

But overall, I had fun. I felt like I had to come back down since it’s been a long time. But to be honest, there’s a better show in SW, and a better finale. Just years ago we were restricted to ground mounts. The show looks alot better in the air, and I saw it when we came back from doing another round of dailies in the Firelands. Was pretty awesome, and reminded me of ToL.

So that’s what has been going on. Going to try to get Darkcash to 70 soon.

WoW: Patch 4.2 now live, and it went smoothly

Instead of waking up and playing Amnesia all day thinking it would take all day before the servers would be back on in WoW, I was asleep. Told myself that I have to at least get the patch installed, and got it done.

Around 2:37pm I decided to check the Realm Status page, and got a thing that battle.net is down for maintenance. The patch is probably the culprit.
Then I saw this link that you can follow them on Twitter. Clicked on it, and I read a tweet from them showing at 2pm, all servers were back up.

So I attempted to login, and went right in. When I saw Benie, I braced for the “LOL I IZ BROK!!” message to come up about my addons. But nothing popped up. Amazing. A patch that didn’t take all fucking day to get the servers back up. Blizzard actually did something right for a change.

Some people were reporting broken addons, D/Cing, and lagging. I’m having none of this. All of my addons work, I haven’t been disconnected yet, and I’m not lagging at all. I must’ve really lucked out.

But the second thing that concerned me the most (first thing was the nerf of MultiShot but that’s worked out) about the patch, I had to accept. It’s the thing about the keyring is now gone. I was a bit worried that trying to get rep up for some faction just for the Heroic dungeon key was a waste of time.
And the answer … it is a waste. But it’s actually a good waste, and I’m glad I didn’t do it. Anyone, even if they never got a Heroic mode key, can access Heroic mode from any dungeon they want. All you do is right click on your avatar, go to Dungeon Difficulty, and select “5 Player (Heroic)”, and all dungeon portals with Heroic mode show a skull face. Just enter it and you can do the dungeon in Heroic. No more need to get rep to get the Heroic mode key.
This is great. Now I can try to do SH Heroic to have a chance to get the Raven Lord mount from the final boss.

I found out about the Heroic thing on my Druid, when I checked if he still had the keys he got, when Troy had control of him. He got several things in the mail from a “Keymaster”, that gave him 2g 50c for each, saying that he had keys that are no longer needed. Turned out those keys were all the Heroic keys.

I even did Heroic Ramps today. It was somewhat challenging, but the loot was worth it. Lots of near or at Level 70 drops. Feels good soloing my first heroic dungeon.

And as for Mount Hyjal’s new dailies… well, when I went back to SW to sell what I got from the run in the AH, I asked Trade chat if Hyjal is laggy due to all the people doing the dailies. Most had a “not at all” response. I’ll probably go there tomorrow and start doing all the quests to unlock them. Then do them with my Druid so he too can have access to the Molten Front.
He still needs to hit 85 before he can enter. But the dailies will help him level as well. And with me assisting him, he can’t fail. Only thing that’s going to suck is the fact those badges are soulbound.
