Ever had an itch that you just can’t seem to scratch, no matter what way you try to reach it? My itch is wanting to explore Xanadu (since we have creature cages). But as I said before, Wurm Summer (of 1075) is almost over (and I do NOT enjoy Wurm Winter, when I can’t fucking see the god damn road from the ‘grass’). And as much as I try to tell myself that, a part of me is acting like an immature little brat saying “I want to explore NOW!!!”
—
So I decided to explore my home server instead (to (hopefully) see areas I didn’t see, when I first explored the server). I also coupled this with grinding AH (grooming every non-hostile animal I see). And with the completion of the ‘Cele Romp’ (going around the server’s coast in a mostly clockwise pattern), I went from 25 to 28. I realize I still got a long-ass road ahead of me (to get to 41, which will unlock “It has a certain spark in its eyes” (living 50% longer than normal)). Working up to that point, will unlock being able to see all the neutral/negative traits of a creature.
Wurm isn’t going to make it easy, as this is sadly one of those “grind it when you can, but don’t make it your main focus” skills (just like taming(to make it easier to tame my ‘owned’ horse cross-server), and woodcutting(higher QL logs). Two other skills I need to work on).

Before the Cele Romp started, I did a mini-romp while waiting for anyone to answer my request on the forum to buy a 5-speed female. Found someone who lives in Cele, and isn’t too far away from me! How fortuitous for me! Instead of loading up the creature cage in my Knarr, I rode all the way up to K22 (where the guy said he lives).
Passing over the Kami Canal bridge (and according to the map), I had reached the spot (he claimed he had boat access south of it), yet what I saw was quite disbanded (apart from two named Knarrs). My contact said he was going to try to find me, but decided on directing me North to ‘Blacksmith’ (the large deed that is somewhat taxing on my computer).
Rode up there, and met the guy and the horse (black, and named ‘Umawarrior’ (never heard of that horse name in my Wurm life)). Paid 50c for it (a lot more fair of a price compared to 1s 50c in Indy, during Day 2 of my romp on that server).
Getting back was ‘quite fun’. Getting lost, it’s becoming night, mobs on my ass, while making sure she was behind me. Eventually made it back home the same way I went there.
Now she’s pregnant (with Emilkiss being the suitor), and I await a (hopeful) 5-speed. But with my luck, I’ll likely end up with a 4-speed. But she’s scheduled to give birth the first day of Wurm Fall.
And now I’m like H2O Delirious at times (in this video), yelling “GIVE BIRTH!!” at her.

So the Cele Romp started by going south and taking the Southern Cele Highway (War’s highway) all the way until I reached a point I went along the coast, passing Port Alora and places like that. Nearing the area with the crater lakes, there’s a new catseye highway that connects them to the SW coast. What I didn’t know, is this is the same highway that goes all the way to near my deed.
Going up the West coast, the only thing that really changed was the islands with the interesting man-made structures, and a second bridge connecting to the large island with all the Skyrim-themed deed names (which are mainly gone (‘Kynesgrove’ shockingly still exists), and replaced with some new ones).
While on the West coast, is the first time I logged (to wait for Sol to rise) on a deed. I was worried (just like I was on Deli) that someone would take him. Then I remembered what happened on Pristine, having that horse that I was able to lead while on a deed. Chanced it on that thought, and it worked again. And THIS is why permissions are awesome, people.
Speaking of permissions, someone gave me an alternative thought that just might work (when taking my horse cross-server). More on this, after explaining the romp.

Trying to access the NW coast, there’s a bridge that goes over the mouth of ‘The Salsa Straits’. There was this large flat area (smack on the NW side of the server), full of mobs (but has a guard tower). Had to lead several crocks away from some bulls in need of grooming.
While on the NW side, I saw a 3-speed named horse. No one taking care of it. Not branded. Decided against taking it (as I rather have a 4, or even a 5-speed).
–
Now on the NE side of the server, with the Northmere Desert to the South. Pretty nice area, as always. But nothing I haven’t seen until I got to the East coast, with a pretty interesting looking disbanded deed (with two sets of bridges). This actually looks somewhat similar to the spot where I found a wild horse in Exo. Was a bit confusing on figuring out how to get down and continue following the coast (I was on this top bit, and I wasn’t seeing the ramps leading down to the coast). Plus there were a few trolls in the area that I had to outsmart.
Mountains now becoming a problem as I continue down the East coast, and deeds blocking the way of a road that’s supposed to be accessible (according to the map). The fun of an explorer.
On the other side of this mountain, was a 2×2 shack with another 3-speed right outside of it. This one was cared for, and had a saddle on it. I could had easily taken it, but unlike some people, I decided not to. If it was a 4-speed however, I wouldn’t care if a GM cared for it; it would’ve been mine.
–
I’m now entering more familiar areas as I start to approach the south side of the server. I try to hug the East coast as far as I could, but the mountains eventually won out, and I had to go around a few of them.
Soon I start to close in on Kami Canal. I guess, it’s time to go home. But instead of taking the familiar routes to get back, I take ‘the scenic route’ that’s just outside of White Wolf Watch. But before I could make the first turn, I had two trolls suddenly popping up (with a wolf and a bear). There was also a guard tower for them to play with. Anything to keep them busy long enough for me to get away, I’m fine with. I’m not here to kill, I’m here to get my AH up.
This ‘shortcut’, had me follow a series of single tile roads (that I would had said absolutely no to, if angry was still around (and we didn’t have horses)). Found a nice spot next to a guard tower to rest for the night, which would be the final time I set the campsite up.
The rest of the trip, was just oodles of fun. The mobs in this forest of death (and decaying roads), are breeding like rabbits. Several times, I couldn’t stop for anything (as I had a parade of mobs chasing me). See this guard tower in the middle of this death forest, and I’m thinking “I should be safe here”. LOLOL was I so WRONG, and the trolls here really made me realize this. I was forced to run past this fake point of rest.
Thankfully I see another one in a small’ish square area, that I was able to catch my breath. Can you imagine a newbie thinking it would be a good idea to go through this? It would be the last thought they would have, before death by several trolls (some stronger than others). So why did I go through this death trap, you ask? Lol.. I thought it would be a short cut to the other side of Shallow Lake. Let’s just say, I won’t be attempting that again.
–
So I’m on the NE side of Shallow Lake. Went around the edge, my deed slowly starting to appear on the other side. I’ve been here before, but there’s this picture that someone shared that shocked me. I don’t know what year this map was created (but I’m guesstimating within the first month since the PvE servers outside of Indy opened), and the area looks a hell of a lot different than it does now. Even this lake, it showed there was once an island (and the area that I saw, that eventually became where I would move to, didn’t exist yet).
And also, this lake had an official name. I can barely read the lettering (with how bold the text is), but if I was to make a guess, it was named ‘Sunrise Lake’.
–
The desert to the East of me, has now become where I got my AH to 28. Not much else to say, except going around the southern half right to my deed.
.
And that completes the romp. It was a lot of fun, but it still didn’t get that itch. But again, there’s nothing that I can fucking DO about it until Wurm Spring of 1076.
With that said, I will now go over what I said about permissions. This basically started from a debate in GL-Freedom over forced group content in Wurm (such as sermons for priests). One of them attempted to jump my ass over something I said, but saw I was actually agreeing with them. I then told them about how much money I would have to spend to get a deed on every server.
The person then gave an alternate suggestion, of picking trusted people that would be willing of branding my horse (and turning over perms to me), for a nominal fee. However, the person never explained how such a system would be sustainable. So I made a thread (here), asking that question. I expected more responses (than just one), and I’m not getting them. The one that did, suggested it should be based similar to how some people sell horses (buying a key to unlock the horse). But instead of keeping the key, you can return it to get your renter’s fee back.
I like the idea of going to a server with my horse, and asking “could I get someone to brand my horse and turn perms to me? I’ll pay a reasonable offer”. It would cost a lot less in the long term, than wasting 25s (and 44c) for a deed on every server. Not to mention, less of a headache on my part.
I know a few that might be willing to do this service– Muse (Deli), and Serraphine (Pri). As for Exodus, Release and Xanadu, I have no idea who might be willing to do this.
I’m also aware that I won’t be able to use the same horse forever (because aging and the random chance of a ven dying as soon as I take it out of the creature cage), and I’ll have to pay that nominal fee again for a new 4 or 5-speed.
