So I did my own suggestion and backed up my saves. Looks like the DLC was installed correctly afterall! I’m surprised, yet very happy.
The DLC doesn’t affect the Cerberus Headquarters mission at all. You however learn a lot, even about EDI. I had no idea she was the Rogue VI on the moon in ME1.
Also, doing the Earth missions was pretty cool. You really felt like you were a part of the action to get to the beam that’s fired by the Citadel. Also, being able to say “goodbye” to your teammates really meant something to me.
In my closure, I have a “few” things to say about the ending and the “Indoctrination Theory”. We’ve all seen the video of this theory, yes? Everything up to where Shepard meets the Starchild is proof this theory is possible. But the new endings throw a curve ball at it, in the form of all but the Refusal ending, Anderson’s plaque is seen on Normandy’s memorial wall. Which proves that was him on the Citadel.
But how did he get there before Shepard, when Hackett says “someone managed to get inside the Citadel” when you do? And the endings still don’t fucking show how in the hell Shepard got back to Earth after doing the Destroy ending. My guess is he somehow got magic powers, or the blast blew him back over to the beam and placed him back on Earth before the Citadel got badly destroyed.
Still, the endings don’t answer why the Normandy crash landed on the jungle planet. My guess is they had to stop there for repairs. Even the Normandy was damaged, but not as bad as the Citadel and the Relays. Still, the Normandy was just as damaged after leaving the Galactic Core, and they never showed the ship on a jungle island to be repaired.
Also, the guy was right that Shepard is back at the Galaxy Map after you hit the button of the popup. But what he never said, is it loads the save before you did the Cerberus Headquarters mission. So the Reapers are still in the galaxy. It’s better off if they just brought you back to the main menu.
I still can’t believe the Mass Effect series is… done. Just like that. But in a way, I also can. With the Reapers gone (or controlled/joined in the other two endings), there’s really no need to continue the series. It’s just like Cataclysm’s ending of the fall of Deathwing, yet Blizzard found a way to continue using a common enemy to Azeroth; ourselves. With ME3, the galactic community has learned that the conflicts between eachother need to stop. For they have banded together to stop an enemy that threatened to wipe them all out.
Possibly the only other DLC’s that may be released will be more stupid Multiplayer packs. I personally would like to see a Free Play DLC that extends on the Destroy ending. To prove Shepard is indeed alive. That the Normandy finds him, patches him up, and everything’s good. And on the Galaxy Map, the Reapers are gone. And there’s new dialog with your crew.
They sorta did this at the end of ME2. But the reason, there was still a lot of story that needed to be told via DLC’s, and then finally ME3.
But now, there is no more story. Other than these “true Reapers” the Starchild mentioned. But the real threat is over. The cycle is no more.
I can’t help but feel the Starchild must have a screw loose when he says that Synthetics and Organics “must become one” .
