Stranded Deep – Developers who can’t stand criticism

Title: Stranded Deep
Developer: *Unknown*
Publisher: *Unknown*
Release Date(Early Access): January 23rd, 2015
Game Engine: *Unknown*
Number of Players: Single
Genre: 1st person Open World Survival

(Please note the content of this blog post will eventually be outdated, as this is an Early Access game)
Have you ever wished you could play a game that you can portray as a castaway, and had a Survival aspect to it? This game might be your answer. This is a Survival/Exploring game. Yet it isn’t without its “what the heck is this?” areas.

The biggest has to go to the map seed screen. As soon as the player hits the ‘MY GAME’ option(not sure why it was called this), they are prompted to enter a map seed. The player can pick the one the game has picked, or enter a row of numbers. The generation process can take around a minute and a half.
The player can then pick any tile they wish, yet that picked tile seems to not have a meaning to it. At first glance I assume that this is where the player starts. But once the world is loaded, the player finds themselves near an island while on a life raft. I assume this is currently an unimplemented feature, yet no note that it is.

Moving on after spawning in a small life raft, they can look down and see a paddle. Insistingly, the player would get the idea that the developers want the player to pick up the paddle and get to the island by using it. However, if the player was to look around, s/he could see there are other places to explore besides just the island infront of them. So the game gives the player a sense of choice of where to start.

So let’s assume the player decides to row to the island infront of them. Upon arriving, the player walks off the raft and onto the strange island. Here are several palm trees, indicating that the player could use these for his or her survival.
But how does the player survive, once they arrive? Currently, the developers provide no way of telling the player how and what they can craft. The player is forced to go online and use the wiki (link here).

Currently (as of the 0.07.H1 Hotfix update), the player can craft crude tools with poor durability. The Crude Spear is currently the player’s only tool for helping their Hunger level. Spear Fishing (the way it was done in our tribal past) is the player’s only option of keeping their hunger level in check.
To make the tools is somewhat straightforward. The player must find a stick or two(usually around the shoreline), some rocks(also around the shoreline), and some thatching. These can be collected by Yucca plants. The wiki provides a picture of what they look like. The thatching can be acquired by using the player’s pocket knife.

But before I get to that, there are also useful items that can be found. These can mainly be found in airtight chests inside shipwrecks, encouraging the player to explore away from the island they arrive on.

Here the player must access their inventory (Tab key by default) to acquire the knife. A few whacks of the tree and the thatching will fall to the ground. Then the player can hit C to open up their Crafting window, select the tool they wish to make, and if they have the required material, the ‘CRAFT’ button will not be grayed out.

Before I wrap this up and get to my main review, I want to explain Cooking. The only way to cook is a campfire. There are four versions, each more powerful than the last (but also costing more materials). A simple campfire requires one stick (and to find a Lighter, which is found from looking for those small chests I mentioned earlier).
Once a campfire has been created(right clicking), the player can then drop things like fish and crabs out of their inventory and drag them (right mouse) into the fire. A sizzling sound happens to let the player know the food is being cooked.
Once the food is cooked, a slight ‘ding’ sound will be heard (also the food will be renamed from ‘item to ‘cooked item’. There it is safe to eat.

And that’s about wraps it up. Now if you will excuse me, I’m going to hunt a shark with a spea– wait, what’s that? The crude axe is the only thing useful that can deal with a shark? .. The hell?!
Time for my review;

Good;
-It doesn’t crash.

Bad;
-The game forces new players to use the wiki. I understand there used to be an ‘intro tutorial’, but there’s not one now.
-Only developers(that respond) don’t fully answer my questions. They seem to not even care for new players.
-There’s no point (currently) to the world seed. The player spawns in the same area everytime.
-The moon is very, VERY bright. Unrealistically bright.

What I would like to see added;
-The crude spear be effective against sharks.
-The map seed window to have a purpose for its existence.
-An understanding from the developers that people want to try their game. $12 is a lot of money. Instead, they seem to only care for their existing playerbase.

.
Final Verdict: I have just asked for a refund from Steam for the first time since they implemented their refund policy. Don’t get this game if you expect a gameplay aspect. It’s just not there… yet. I will still be watching this game, as there is room for improvement. But I refuse to fund their development as of this moment.
As of now, just walk away from this game. What really tore it for me was the devs not wanting to answer all of my questions. Plus the way they interacted with other posts. They seem to dislike people who complain, when they have explained the reason for doing so.

If the developers continue to work on the game and release it with everything that is promised, I might come back to it and write a brand new (hopefully more positive) review.

LEGOยฎ Worlds – Like Minecraft, but with LEGO bricks

Title: LEGOยฎ Worlds
Developer: TT Games
Publisher: Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment
Release Date(Beta): June 1st, 2015 / Release: Q1 2016
Game Engine: *Unknown*
Number of Players: Single/(Multiplayer support in the future)
Genre: Open World Sandbox

Happy New Year! First blog post (in the Games blog) of 2016 (and first review of 2016)! WOOT! ๐Ÿ˜€
And what better way to celebrate 2016 with a game that was released last year. And that game is LEGOยฎ Worlds. If you remember last year, I saw this game and thought “wow, this has potential to be a legit Minecraft clone”.

For those just learning about the game’s existence, let me fill you in. So, in Minecraft, you get dropped in this strange, blocky world. Trees, rivers, and oceans for as far as your eyes can see. Except, screw having to make tools and get resources! So yeah, it would be comparable to the Creative side of Minecraft.

As soon as the game boots up, the player is greeted to a world that they can join if they wish. Or they can randomly generate it(either by its RNG, or by their own). Once they pick their level (it can be named if they wish. Completely optional), the player is seen skydiving towards the world they picked.

Soon as they land, the fun starts. The player can then go anywhere they wish. Also, if the player thinks that they’re only constricted to this one area? Nope. They can go anywhere. This game is all about exploration (which is why the player plays as a nameless explorer).

For the rest of this review(and the complexity of what the player can do in this game), I’ll give a list here;
-They can interact with other humans, but they don’t really do much. Some might run away from the player, or even attempt to fight them if they get too close.
-Animals can be ridden on. Some require the player to find something they like before they’ll allow the player to ride on them. Some people also have this same mechanic, but it’s mainly to add them to the player model collection.
-Some animals, and people, require the player to ‘beat them into submission’ before they reveal what they need. At this point, the creature cannot be killed (unless placed into lava).
-The game has a day/night cycle. It’s basically 5 minutes of day and 5 minutes of night. Yeah, the days go by pretty quick.
-There are ‘hostile’ enemies such as Skeletons, but they only attack the player if they attack them. Be wary of attacking one near a group, or the player might get ganked.
-Combat is pretty straightforward. Attack with the left mouse. The player can also collect weapons. There’s three types of weapons; throwable, melee, and ranged. Ridden animals can also attack when commanded.
-Scattered around the map are treasure chests. Collect the small ones for coins, and the big ones for useful things (even items that creatures and people need).
-Bored of exploring? The player can also craft the world and literally change it based on their choices. The people, animals, and plants the player discovers can be placed in the world.

I hope this was good enough. Seriously, there is a LOT to do in this game! The building mode alone, as I stated, can permanently change the landscape based on the player’s choices. They can remove lava, or dig their own cave with this mode.
Oh! Yes. I’m not sure if this is a limited thing or not.. might be (and it would make sense). But under the Sets option for block building, is a “LEGO Creator: Changing Seasons” set that has a ton of stuff, and can be placed anyehree.

It’s time for my final review. I had to wrestle a bear to the ground and feed it a fish to acquire it;

Good;
-Procedurally generated worlds with their own biomes, similar to Minecraft. Pick a spawn area and literally dive into the fun.
-Fell into lava and keep on spawning in it? The player can skydive out of there and free themself. A perfect failsafe!
-The player can ride a shark in… and even out of water. Hilarious watching it flap around. Even more hilarious of getting off and watching it flap away, heading back to the ocean.
-The player can use the stuff they have discovered by unlocking them with the standard LEGO money.
-The player can find treasure, and other equipment to both arm their explorer, and give to specific creatures to win their trust.
-The game looks really pretty when the settings are all the way up.
-The LEGO-designed moon looks awesome.
-No QuickTime events (that I’ve seen so far), unlike a typical LEGO-based game.

Bad;
-Game tends to start micro-freezing after a few hours of play. It even crashed on me once. Not saying the same thing will happen to you, but it did to me.
-Controls cannot be configured. There’s just no option.
-Some mobs (especially Skeletons) tend to get themselves stuck when spawning in, and constantly play their pain sounds… never dying from suffocation and the like.
-In some areas, I was able to see small cracks in the game world that can show down to the bottom of the map.

Neutral;
-Like all the LEGO-themed games I’ve played(since the LEGO Movie Videogame), the LEGO money only has one purpose; to unlock stuff that the player has explored and be able to use it whenever they wish.
-Hostiles will chase NPC humans… yet never the player unless they smack them.
-Some animals (like the crocodile) do go after the player, but never attack them. These are the ‘beat into submission’ animals.
-Biomes can be.. weird at times. Having a Swamp biome next to a Winter-themed biome. But Minecraft was the same way for MANY years.

(new section for 2016)
What I would like to see in the future;
-A Survival aspect. Make exploring be a challenge with enemies that actually hunt the player down and attack them. Have a crafting system. Things like this.
-Tools for the explorer. A pickaxe and a shovel would be nice (instead of having to rely on the building menu).
-Other humans to actually do things with the player, like being able to trade with their fellow explorers.
-A Sprint button would be nice.
-Control customization.

.
Final Verdict: If you’re looking for something much, much cheaper than LEGOยฎ Dimensions, this game will give you your virtual LEGO fix.
And if you love single player exploration/building games that have no real challenge(except dealing with the camera controls), this game is for you.

But if you’re looking for the feeling of being challenged (as it gives you a purpose)? Then this game isn’t for you. Sorry. At least not now. Do understand that this is an Early Access (beta) game, and more development is likely. Hopefully the Survival aspect can be added. I don’t really see why it wouldn’t.

Dragon: The Game – Like any whelp, it needs time to develop

Title: Dragon: The Game
Developer: Red Level Games Inc.
Publisher: Red Level Games Inc.
Release Date: November 7th, 2014
Game Engine: Unity
Number of Players: Single/Co-op
Genre: Action RPG

Ohhh for fuck sakes. I so wish I could do a video on this game (with a facecam). Because the look on my face is similar to a kid in a candy store.

Anyway. *claps his wings together* time to dig into this game and give the scoop.
So, in this game. The player can be.. a dragon. They can fly around. They can terrorize villages. They can sit on a pile of gold. And they can even breath fire. Pretty much all of your childhood(in my case.. adult) fantasies of wanting to be a dragon.
When launching the game, is a blurred screen and then the main menu. Don’t get the blurred screen.

On the Dragon button, the player can customize the colors of their dragon on the right. The player can also “create” their own dragon. Each ‘custom’-built dragon is based on their color. The current colors are Green, Red, Black, Blue, and White. There are also undiscovered dragons.
And me liking the color red so much, being a Red dragon means I am are the king of all the other dragons. Fucking hell, this game knows me so well.
The player can also name their dragon. I decided to name mine of the old nickname that was given to me on the MRT server: “Beenigh”. Which is ‘Benie’ in Draconic.

And so with Beenigh, I figured out the controls. Spacebar is for flapping the dragon’s wings (and staying in the air, I got to tap it twice). The player can divebomb by pointing your mouse cursor down. If they’re lucky, the player can pick up a helpless villager and take him with them, where the player can eat him if they wish.
After some time, I finally managed to get the mouse controls to behave correctly (horizontal controls, anyway). There are no mouse movement bars to fine tune the pitch and turn speed of my dragon.
One more thing about the controls, turning with my mouse was like.. well… a mount in an MMO game. It turned on a dime. And I’m pretty sure something that large, doesn’t have a 0 turning radius.

I think I’m ready to give my roaring review. And as much as I love dragons… this game, I do not like. However, it has great potential to be as epic as a dragon should be;

Good;
-Mmmmm…. “the player gets to fly as a dragon”.

Bad;
(due to the fact the devs clearly state that this game is an early Alpha(in my opinion.. not even that), I won’t go over the “wow, does this need work” bugs I found)

.
Final Verdict: I’ll be 100% honest with you. If you love dragons as much as I do, and you pray this small development company can deliver, then invest and enjoy the game as-is. But realize, it’s barely a game at the moment. Think of it as a hatched dragon whelp. Barely able to fly. It has to grow up first to be the fearsome beast it was born to be. Similar to the development of this game.

I give great praise to the devs for stating (in several places) that the game is nowhere near finished. Even more for still working on it instead of abandoning the project.
Also, the game sounds really promising (going by their ‘About This Game’ section on their store page. The way they talk, you’ll start off as a whelp and eventually grow up. The way you do, will affect the way you see the world. Will you be a kind, peacekeeping dragon (that’s hunted for having a bad rep)…, or will you be the one that caused the bad rep by murdering everyone you meet in cold blood (just because “FUCK you, I’m a DRAGON! :D”)?

Yet, I’m reminded that this has been an Alpha game since.. September 15th, 2014. It’s been over a year, and it still looks like this. Yet, this is where you really got to calm down and learn that game development can take a REALLY long time.

I’m hoping my $15 investment that I paid for this (instead of the $18 they normally ask for) helps to fund their development. I would like to know how big their development/art team is. Going by the fact it’s taken this long, I’d guess about… 5 developers and 2 artists?

Changes to the way I do videos next year

As they say, a new year means new things (or to improve from the last year). And next year will bring a few changes and additions to the way I do videos.
First off, my intro and outro will remain the same into next year. I like my “Welcome to another Benies-Blogs.com PS4 Game Review!”, as it feels it’s ‘branding’ the video with my website (which was one of the reasons of starting the entire video thing in the first place). It also (I feel) separates my videos from standard video reviews.

The second change
So I’ve been thinking… the ‘Benie Fails At’ series is good, but I really wish there was a way to just do a playthrough of a random game. It would be similar to a Review video (less than 30 minutes), yet just pick a random date instead of “New videos every X day!”.
The thing about it, say that I got several review videos to do(if for some reason, Playstation Plus had a shitload of free games to download for the PS4). I do them, and maybe a week later… I restart the series when I have time.

I’ve decided on a new series, starting sometime in January (and it won’t bother my review videos, or the next ‘Benie Fails At’ game). By the way, the

(which will be announced on January 1st and Series 2 will start on the 9th of that month. I promise).
It will be called “Benies-Blogs.com PS4 Game Playthrough”. It will be one 30 minute episode, instead of ‘Part#’. It’ll simply feature me playing the game, either to completion, or just fucking around and playing side quests. It will not be chapter-based, so it could take as many as 20 or so episodes of me just messing around and enjoying the game.

And I think the perfect game to start this series off, is ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’.

Steam’s full report to the “hacking” on Christmas Day

So I was going to do my list of the worst games I played in 2015. But overall, this year wasn’t that bad. Some say it was one of the best years for gaming. The only exceptions were Dragon Fin Soup(bad port) and Ether One(wasn’t properly playtested).

Anyway, this news from Steam is much more important as it will affect my future trust with Steam; a detailed report of what happened to them on Christmas Day. You can read it in full report here, and then see my reactions below.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Read it yet? Hopefully you have, and every word, too.
So my reaction. I’m glad to hear that it was never a hack. Yet the whole “users could see eachother’s account page” thing, really didn’t feel like ‘hacking’ to me. A hacker would steal that info and sell it to the black market… not allow other users to see eachother’s Steam accounts.
What use would a hacker have for this, hmm? It doesn’t make much sense, does it? Exactly! That’s why it wasn’t a hacking attempt.
So no, Steam isn’t lying to cover the hacker’s trail.

Hopefully this issue will never happen again. Steam wants you to believe in them again. Having my account page and the community page now working… I’m just relieved that none of this crap happened to me.
Steam even states that if you didn’t visit any sites during that timefrane, your info would be safe.

And so, we can all just close the book about this whole “hacking” thing. It never happened(well, the DDoS still happened, but the hacking never did), and Steam is back to normal. So, get your games before 2016.

The Top 10 Games (that I played) of 2015!

Welcome to my list of The Top 10 Games (that I played) of 2015! The games have been simply sorted of how I felt about them, based on design, controls, my review of them.. everything.
This is the first time ever that PS4 games are also part of this list. And also note, this list isn’t of games released this year. It’s what games I’ve reviewed this year; both PC and PS4.

The rules, are as stated;
Must be a game I have played and reviewed in 2015.
Must have a blog post of my review, stating the date I originally played it.
No old games that were updated(unless the update was substantial).

And now, without further ado.. *drumroll* *drumroll* *drumroll* *drumroll*
The 10 Top Games (that I played) OF 2015!!!

NUMBER 10

Little Big Planet 3
System: PS4
Date of Review: February 2nd, 2015
A shock to see this so low on the list, I bet. But the fact I never completed the game due to how frustrating it is, I think it’s perfect right here. However, this game is still good, giving you the option to customize your chars, your room thing, and even create your own levels(or play ones made by other players).

[collapse]
NUMBER 9

SpaceEngine
Platform: PC
Date of Review: January 13th, 2015
The question of “is there life on other planets” has always wondered scientists. Here, you can visit possible Earth-like planets(even land on them). And if you’re bored of the Milky Way, you can explore other galaxies.
Think of this being a free (yet stripped down) version of Elite: Dangerous.

[collapse]
NUMBER 8

Never Alone(“Kisima Ingitchuna”)
System: PS4
Date of Review: April 14th, 2015
A beautiful story of a young woman who goes out to find food, but is saved by a fox spirit who helps her out. It had some fun puzzles too.

[collapse]
NUMBER 7

Assassinโ€™s Creed IV: Black Flag
System: PC
Date of Review: January 10th, 2015
Never got into the Assassin’s Creed series before, but this one promised to be fun. And it was fun to sail around the Caribbean on your own boat.

[collapse]
NUMBER 6

Valiant Hearts: The Great War
System: PS4
Date of Review: April 8th, 2015
“War… war never changes.” But this isn’t related to the Fallout series. This explains the hardships of war, and what it was like to get drafted into the army against your own will. But it also shows that friendship can still be a thing, even during war times.

[collapse]
NUMBER 5

Killzone: Shadow Fall
System: PS4
Date of Review: July 20th, 2015
Ahh… Killzone Shadow Fall. The kickstarter of the ‘Benie Fails At’ series, and all around a pretty good game. Will never forget you, Kellen.

[collapse]
NUMBER 4

Broken Age
System: PS4
Date of Review: October 7th, 2015
This was destined to be on this list, due to its well-told story and beautiful backdrops. That’s all I can say. Congrats on 4th place!

[collapse]
NUMBER 3

Tearaway Unfolded(Demo)
System: PS4
Date of Review: September 28th, 2015
Tearaway Unfolded is a really fun family game that teaches you about how squirrels can be guides by having a D-Pad over their head. Also, this was the first game that uses motion control and the light of the DUALSHOCK 4 Controller; a huge step forward for game technology that trumps the Wiimote.

[collapse]
NUMBER 2

Rocket League
System: PS4
Date of Review: July 18th, 2015
Come now… don’t tell me you didn’t expect this game to be high on the list!
When you have a bunch of souped up cars, and a huge soccer ball.. what better way to use it by inventing a game where the cars are soccer players?! If you haven’t played this game yet… add it to your list of the things you should definitely do before you die. This game is also available on PC!

[collapse]

!!!NUMBER 1!!!

MAGICKA 2
System: PS4
Date of Review: November 5th, 2015
Holy hell, this was a really, really fun game. It deserves this spot for so many reasons. This changed my opinion of RPG games on a console. It’s a hilarious fuck with game, and the death beam was.. “SO MUCH BLOOD!!!”

[collapse]

Congratulations to the developers of these games that made my list! And to the ones that didn’t make the cut… well… please remember this is my opinion.

On the 30th, I will be doing something different; a ‘Top 10 Games I dislike of 2015’ list. It will feature games I really didn’t like this year, from bad console ports to broken games.
Again, they will be based from my opinion.

Thanks for viewing, and I can’t wait to see what I review in 2016!

Next Gamefly game could be freakin’ awesome! :D

So guys… FINALLY finished with that last video! That thing was a pain in the ass to record! So many unskippable/unpausable cutscenes! I nearly gave up doing videos because of it.

Got the game in its return sleeve for shipment back to Gamefly. It’ll be picked up by my mailman.
I thought of buying it, but there was just too much unlike for me to keep it. I might get it for PC, in hopes it’s all just from a bad console port.

But the reason I created this thread, the next three games on my Gamefly queue list… woo boy;
Just Cause 3 (queue 1)
Fallout 4 (queue 2)
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (queue 3)

One of these three will be welcomed in my house, quite soon. I REALLY… really hope it’s either Just Cause 3 or Fallout 4. One of these, I can’t wait to do a review on.
Anyway, enjoy the Top 10 Games of 2015 which will be coming soon sometime today!
Still compiling the list and hope to have it ready. First, dreamland calls. Goodnight.

Dragon Age: Inquisition – Let’s do the Dragon Age time warp again!

Title: Dragon Age: Inquisition
Developer: BioWare
Publisher: EA
Release Date: November 18th, 2014
Game Engine: Frostbite 3
Number of Players: AI team-based Single Player
Genre: 3rd Person Action RPG
Youtube Game Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcav76ab_tw

This is a game I saw on Walmart, and heard lots and lots of good reviews from. Yet as I said for all RPGs, I don’t like them on console (as I can’t use a trainer. :P). So that’s why I never bought it for the PS4.
There’s also another reason why I never even bought it for the PC. If you read my ‘ancient’ Dragon Age PC playthrough reviews(January 2011..reason for the title), I felt no matter what I did, I was doing the wrong thing. My party members always questioned my skills… it’s like they knew I was using a trainer.

But now I get to play it for the first time.. on a console. Well, let’s get to it. My initial reaction when I put the CD in, was “I hope this is playable”. It was, but I had a few updates from previous reviewed games (plus a 4GB one for this game). I was actually able to say “fuck that!” (seriously.. why force a patch when I can’t keep the game?!)
Anyway, the reason they force the patch is it would not allow me to ‘use network features’. I’m not here to test the network features.. I’m here to review your game.

I proceeded to set everything up with a new game. You’re greeted by the four races in the game: Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Quanari. All four, if I remember, were also available in Origins and Awakening.
Then you’re greeted by the classes. I found the ‘Rogue: Archer’ class a bit odd as I never seen that type of class in my life. The other options are a dual-weld Rogue, a dual-weld Warrior, a sword/shield Warrior, and a Mage.
The 3rd screen, you can pick your difficulty. Self-explanatory here.

Then after this, it sets your char’s lore based on what you picked in the three screens. I’ll admit, this is pretty cool. One thing I liked about Dragon Age, was it really could tell a story. The bad part, and which I feared.. it’s going to be more story than action. Thankfully they really fixed this since the original game.

When you actually load the game up, you see yourself standing up. Here is where you can customize your character. Yet… there’s no customization! It’s all fake! I tried every key on my controller to move the settings around, yet they just wouldn’t do anything This is why there’s no Randomize button either. Just.. wow. I feel like I’m playing a demo.
At least I was able to customize my character’s name, and then play the prologue. There is no “origin story”, nor should there be.

The story basically goes (after the opening sequence), you’re being accused of killing a bunch of people and causing ‘The Breach’, a huge power source that has opened up a tear and is sending demons in. The “proof”, is the mark on your left hand that glows occasionally. You’re the only survivor in this explosion that happened, so the blame instantly falls to you.

This same mark is also what is slowly killing you, as you soon learn. You have little choice(help or die), so you decide to help. You eventually acquire a weapon (based on the class you picked..only difference is a dual-weld Warrior gets a 2H Sword).
You meet another group of people, with one showing you that you can use your glowing hand to close the green rifts that are spawning the monsters. You use this new power to close rifts left and right, including the big one (after dealing with a boss).

Now your new friends have decided to start under a new name. With you as the commander, they form the “Inquisition” *cue game title here*; a group of people known to get answers out of other people by any means necessary (includes torture).

With the prologue done, you’re on your own. You can explore the game world(which I may add has very little borders compared to Origins), talk to people, do side quests, buy and sell stuff, craft stuff. Whatever you wish to do.
To do a quest, you can go as yourself or bring your party members. Yes, you’re allowed to “solo” quests if you wish. You don’t have to be stuck with your party members, though the extra DPS always helps.

But there is one ‘little’ thing I don’t like, and that’s the War Table. After some dialog of meeting new people(your War Council), you’re shown a Command Table. It looks sort of similar… to WoD’s Garrison Command Table. There’s quests that can only be done by party members, and have a time until the mission is completed… JUST like the Garrison Command Table.
I’m not 100% sure if this is JUST like what Blizzard did, but if it is, I think the game just died to me. ๐Ÿ˜›

And I think it’s time for my review;

Good;
-Combat has a new twist from previous Dragon Age games. By pressing the big button on the top of your controller, you can select party members to attack specific targets.
-Very few level loading screens. The levels are huge; much bigger than Origins.
-The prologue wasn’t mainly boring “twin sister of her step brother” forced ingame lore, compared to the original game.
-No more facepalm “Quickly, we must fight!!” human male combat voiceover.

Bad;
-Cutscenes are capped at 30FPS, leading to noticeable studdering. Don’t get this.
-The backstory of your character doesn’t matter. It’s the same story.
-Unpausable/Unskippable cutscenes(made recording the video very difficult).
-Combat tends to feel boring and repetitive. Plus upgrading your abilities isn’t really explained clearly (to me, anyway).
-There is hardly any customization options when creating your character. You can’t even move the customize bars. The hell is this shit?
-Long loading times (heard it’s bad even on the PC).
-A Garrison Command Table-like interface (War Table) after completing the prologue… UGH!! D:

Neutral;
-Has a find loot option that’s similar to The Witcher’s “Witcher Senses”. But you don’t have to hold the button down. Yet.. where did you get such power to find loot?
-Similar to Dragon Age Origins and Awakening, you’re forced to upgrade your party members’ gear as well as your own (this is why I used a trainer back then…).

.
Final Verdict: As much dislike as I have for the WoD Garrison-like Command Table after completing the Prologue, it isn’t that bad. Unlike WoD’s, you actually have areas that the player can join their party members. The War Table even feels.. optional.
But a lot of dislike goes to the severe lack/trickery of player customization. When I cannot move the bars around, there is a serious problem.
Overall, the game isn’t bad. But I really don’t give it the high praise that some would. 7/10.

.
PS.. just a bit of “this is weird, I need to explain it” here.
So, the plot. You’re the lone survivor of this explosion. The blame instantly goes to you. I get this. Yet… this woman seems to also know a lot about your mark. Where did she learn this? She never tells you.
She seems quick to forget when the lives of others are on the line, yet she orders me to put my weapon down when I attempted to defend myself against enemies.
And then she turns from “take off his fucking head!” to “we need to help him!” in the blink of an eye, during the boss fight. Maybe she has trust issues, or something.

Impalong 2015 Post-Party / Damn.. a Knarr can hold a LOT!

The final day of the Impalong. Overall, my final lamp never got imped to 70. 59QL was the highest it got. But I’m OK with it.
We also had a few games. The first was a “find the five clues” game. There was five papers or something, that had info written on it. It was your job to understand the clue written on it and find the next one.
It was the second one that I got stumped on; to “find where Fo’s light is the brightest”.
After the winner was declared… Enki showed up again. ๐Ÿ˜› This time, it was the final finale. This battle lasted over an hour! There were hell scorps, and a new type of mob I’ve never seen in my Wurm life. There was even a whale, near the token to the place. It was just sitting there chilling out, occasionally doing his “jumping out of the ocean” animation.

And there was also one time that I thought I was royally fucked. Sitting there dancing around this lava scorp on my horse, badly micro-freezing… suddenly my client freezes. It just couldn’t take it anymore.
Thankfully when I returned, the chaos was mainly over (and the mob I was attacking was dead). Again, no deaths. Came close, but no deaths. A lot of others weren’t so lucky; even not being able to get to their corpse. Enki (and other GM named “Idunn (GOD)”(last time I saw a GM with that ‘GOD’ tag was Oracle), teleported the unfortunate ones to retrieve their corpses.

After everyone was able to get their stuff back and heal up, William decided to get a group photo of everyone that helped with the chaos. We were to get behind the whale and then wave at him at just the right moment. He got a screenshot(I’m the one higher than the others, on my horse).
After that and I went back up to the imping area, William wanted to play another game. I’m thinking “I really hope it’s not ‘see how long you can survive'”. Instead it was a drinking contest. But due to the ‘reliable’ permission system, that idea was flawed.
Instead, we played Musical Chairs. The music was a bell. There were 13 of us who wanted to play (including myself). I tried to get an advantage by binding ‘Sit’ and ‘Stand up’ to two keys on my keyboard.
William rang the bell once, and everyone was to get up from these chairs and move in a circle. He rings the bell again, and that’s when you got to sit down quickly.
I managed to get 6th place. Not too bad. Didn’t win, but I had fun. The winner was Finn, who won a rare loom. Lol. Good for him. I didn’t care for it. Don’t even use the one I have.

With that, it was pretty much time to go. I got a participation prize (for playing the two games).. an 80QL lamp. At first I thought he said “lantern”. Took my brain to think, and when it finally clicked.. “HOLY HELL YES, gimmie!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ” This I can definitely use! This makes up for the one that didn’t get imped.
So I got my cart hauled back in my Knarr, grabbed my remaining lamp in their forge and threw it in my Knarr.
And with that, there was no real reason to stay (as people started to slowly go back home). I left the Impalong and went to FM.

Yes, I said “screw the shards”.. but I forgot they have Marble. I WANT.. some of that Marble! Also, Santa is still there. Which means the buffet is still there. Might as well take advantage while I can, for this one last time.
With only one horse pulling my cart (as I stupidly gave B2 the other), it was a slow ride up to the top of FM. But I made it up and got my large cart into FM’s public mine… only to forget I left my pickaxe back in my boat. Ugh.

Now equipped with my pickaxe, I made it back to FM. Going to mine 50 units of marble, as I don’t know how much my Knarr can carry (didn’t bring the large crates I had made. Not smart).
Thankfully, I didn’t even need the crates! Unthankfully.. I didn’t get that many ‘good’ shards. I got more ‘bad'(1-10QL) ones than good. ๐Ÿ˜› I’m just thankful I got it all in my cart.
Back in FM, I chowed down on the buffet a few more times, and also bought 10s. Bought 3s and 80c worth of stuff. The most went to buying a Santa hat(the Christmas 2012 Santa gift). The rest went to getting a bear helm(the one Finn was wearing), and three skin rugs (a bear, a wolf, and a lion).

With that, I was ready to head home. But not without getting some free stuff. See, Telurius(a Community Assistant), started saying they were offering “a bunch of low QL tools” and other stuff. How can I not turn down free stuff? ๐Ÿ™‚
He was situated at the guard tower on the main road between FM and The Howl.. exactly where I was approaching.
When I got there and asked him, he said they were in these four piles behind me; and to “help yourself” to what I would want. So I started picking around at what was offered. There was 50 cotton (grabbed), sickles, mallets.. all sorts of things.
I helped myself to five long bows, 25 bow strings, 25 war arrows, and a large shield. The rest I had no need for.
There was lanterns with lots of tar, but we already got two awesome lanterns. And if we need more tar, I know where I can dig some up.

Back at my Knarr, everything fitted inside with no problem. I was shocked of how much crap a Knarr can hold (without any crates too). I then set sail back to home. With a gale from the south, I FLEW up the inner sea and went through the northern passage in about 20 minutes! Good thing, too.. as it’s nearly 1am IRL. This day has really flown by.

But a lot of good (to me) has come this day. Tomorrow I won’t have time for Wurm, as it will be “back to normal” for me. A video review to do, and that top 10 games of 2015 list to compile. Busy busy busy.

Got home, loaded up the horse statue (I CAN rename it. Was worried) and got my horses and my cart all back where they were before I left. It’s good to be back home, in my own house. Sure, it gets boring. But at least my computer can tolerate it.
Go to sleep in my own bed. Get my sleep bonus back up to 5 hours.
