My thoughts of Tearaway Unfolded (the full version) so far

So I got the full game yesterday, and as I said I was going to play it to see if it was worth the $20. So far, it definitely would be IF I wasn’t playing this. In other words, if I had a friend who I was watching playing this game, I would say it would be worth $20.
The full game ‘upgraded’ my Demo version. So that’s a thing.

To not reveal any spoilers, the game is still really fun. And I find it funny how the game seems to treat the Dualshock 4 controller like an advanced device. Also, I absolutely freaking love how some puzzles require the player to tilt the controller, or push buttons in a certain way. Some puzzles even have the controller’s buttons as platforms. It’s a brilliant, original mechanic (and I’m not being sarcastic here)!

But there’s one thing that still bugs me. And it’s the drawing aspect. Draw a face. Draw a cloud. Draw a raindrop. Draw this, draw that… it feels so childish. What’s worse (yet is also good at the same time), the game will accept even a scribble and say “You are a GOD at drawing!!” It’s hilariously bad.
Also, I can barely move straight with a controller.. let alone draw by using the big button at the top of the controller (the one above the sticks). Plus, you have a certain amount of time to draw something before the game says “FUCK it! Just put whatever the hell this is in the envelope.”
Also, how it seems to keep pushing at the PS4 peripherals (the camera, the microphone.. etc) is not good. Thankfully it doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay.

And I’m not done with the game yet. This is a HUGE… huge game, folks. Two times, I felt it was going to end. This is so much similar to my playthough of Tomb Raider. How I felt several times, the game would end. Yet a curve ball gets thrown in, changing the plot. It’s rather nerve-wracking.

.
EDIT: I’ve completed the game. Or should I say… the game completed me. The ending, was a story all of itself (it also felt very childish).
Overall, fun game. Definitely worth the money. This game is a mind-blower of how far video games have gone. Since I already played it, I won’t be spending the $20. That decision is up to you all. This is a good kid’s game. No foul language. Some mild violence but nothing all that bad.

And before you ask, no. I’m not going to do a “Benie Fails At” of this. I would like to (just to show the awesome mechanics in the later game). But I need to send this game back to Gamefly quickly to get my next game. This one, I will likely be doing a mini-playthough (as I never did before).

Why I refuse to play Space Engineers until it leaves Early Access

I was bored today. I knew I wanted to do two things. Either go back to ESO:TU and see if the studdering is gone and I can actually kill things like I could before, or try to figure out the software needed to do PC videos.
But it all went to “I really want to make a rover in Space Engineers!”, now that it has planets.. it would be not pointless to do so. The trouble is, I haven’t played since December 2015. And also, I don’t know the health of the several mods I’m using.

But the game booted up normally (taking 5 minutes to load my save is “normally” in Space Engineers, one of the most unoptimized games I’ve ever played). But I got in no problem and found myself infront of the developer’s attempt of doing a Mars-like planet, exactly where I left off.
Decided to go to the alien planet and used the mod I had that changed the vanilla movement speed from 104m/s, to 200m/s of large ships and 500m/s for small ships (and the player when the jetpack is enabled).
I noticed after I got to 200m/s, my ship’s speed was slowly decreasing. I didn’t have the Inertial Dampeners on, so that wasn’t causing it. Went down to the ship’s shuttle bay, and somehow the power was on.. causing the slowness. Turned it off and that stopped the ship from slowing down.
But I ran into another issue. Even though I have a Gravity Generator on the ship to keep my feet on the steel floor, I go literally flying to the engine room if I go faster than the vanilla speed. I don’t know if this was a change the game did, a bug, or an issue with mods. Though I’ve labeled it a low priority annoyance.

A more serious annoyance came after I over-jumped with my Creative Jumpdrive when doing a blind jump, trying to get to the planet faster. Tried to maneuver to get the ship over and down the other side of the planet to place a beacon… and then it happened. Suddenly my ship started spinning out of control (as if I was playing Gmod and hit the map skybox)…
After 30 seconds of spazzing out (if this was in Gmod, my ship would be composed of a floating, spazzing blob of metal, flailing everywhere), it stopped with the Inertial Dampeners trying to slow the ship down.. and then it starts happening again. And I’m sitting there screaming as loud as I could at the monitor (because, once again, I think video games have ears and they will stop pissing me off and let me do what the fuck I want, when I want, by screaming at them). And even when I tell myself it doesn’t help, I start it up again. :/

Finally the ship stopped spinning, and I tried to reposition it to go where I want. Then the game starts controlling my ship for me, without my permission, causing the thrusters to fire for no reason, and then the ship starts to go up and slowly pan down. And as much as I tried to take control, I had none.
I really wanted to bitch at Keen for this. Yet they’ll just say “it’s your mods! You’ll have to delete all of them and re-add every. single. fucking one of them and see which one is causing the issue!”
I went back down to the shuttle bay, being all “FUCK this.. I’m abandoning ship!” and attempted to board my shuttle. I got in and attempted to unlock the landing gears, yet all but one was working. I had one malfunctioning, still locked to the ship. I removed it…. and my ship stopped spamming and returned to normal.
I thought “oh wow… THAT was causing the issues?!” and placed a new landing gear. Sure enough, I didn’t have any issues (though the first issue of the Gravity Generator not handling non-vanilla speeds is still there) for awhile….

Once again, I tried to get close to the alien planet. I thought I saw the last of that bug with the malfunctioning landing gear (even tested to make sure it wouldn’t happen again). And then… it happened AGAIN! FFFFFUUUUUUUUU—!! NOW I had NO fucking idea what was causing it!
Again, I got to the shuttle, got in, and lifted off the floor of my spazzing ship, and again…. it stopped spazzing and returned to normal. Obviously it’s an issue with the shuttle. But .. FUCK IT!! I left the ship and raced to the alien planet, going 500m/s. When its antenna ran out of range, I knew I would probably never find it again. But I was just so.. so pissed at the game.

20 minutes later, I made it to the alien planet and attempted to land. My shuttle’s landing thrusters felt like they too were malfunctioning; not giving me the power I needed to do a smooth landing. And when trying again after landing (upside down…), it felt the thrusters were severely weakened from what I remembered. I think it might be because of the planet gravity, which is 110%.
And if that wasn’t bad, my forward thrusters were going… backwards, and the game was studdering to hell in a handbasket, which gave me very little reaction time.

.
So I ragequitted, and uninstalled the game… never to be reinstalled until Keen gets the game out of fucking Early Access! I’ve HAD it with the game shitting on every good idea I’ve had in it!! This is exactly why I stopped playing Gmod, because I was tired of watching 4+ hours of work turning into a spazzing ball of props. And though Space Engineers doesn’t do this… thank God, it still shits on my ideas.

This is why I don’t like building-based games anymore. They expect me to know how to react to unscripted bullshit that fucks up my work (just like Life, in ways).
Yet I also wish I could had built that rover. And I would had too, if it wasn’t for all the issues I was having.
And if they’re mod-related or not… I really don’t care anymore. Because I’m not going that far and watch my save possibly be corrupted because of “mod missing!”. I can’t just remove them, without removing every prop related to all of those mods first. And then having to go through the pain-staking process of seeing which one is pissing me off.
And if it is a mod, watch the mod author be all “I’m not seeing this issue, reinstall the game!”, or “Yeah, I know that issue.. but it’s going to take awhile for me to fix it”(even though it’s a high-priority mod for me having fun..).
And at a worst case scenario, having the author no longer developing and having to wait … who knows the fuck when (or if) the mod ever gets a new developer.

What’s upcoming: current queue on Gamefly

With my lovely discussions I had with both my ISP and Gamefly (if you haven’t read it, you can go here), the rep from Gamefly suggested I put more released games in my queue to help give myself something new to play with (while I forever wait to get my hands on Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3).
So I went over my list, and went over every game that Gamefly has for the PS4 and added several titles. And here’s the list of what games I might be reviewing in the future;

1. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (this is currently Medium Availability, don’t think I’ll be able to review this anytime soon)

2. Tearaway Unfolded: Crafted Edition(Won’t be doing a video or review of this, as I’ve already showed the Demo (doubt the full game would be any different). I’m getting it to see if the full game is worth the $18(not including tax) that Gamefly’s asking for).

3. Terraria(the PS4 edition) (Yes, I’ve reviewed it for the PC, but never for the PS4. If you haven’t bought Terraria yet, the review will question “why didn’t you?!”)

4. Thief(I’ve only heard tiny bits and pieces of this game, never played it or seen a video. Will be interesting)

5. Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show(Yay.. a kids game. If I had subscribers, I’ll be losing some of them for questioning their intelligence. 😛 )

6. Destiny (yes.. I went there 😛 I want to see why the game is so “bad”)

7. Metro Redux (Yes, I’ve reviewed Metro 2033 for the PC, but never for the PS4)

8. Shovel Knight (Highly recommended game by many… but will it be recommended by me?)

9. Minecraft: Playstation 4 Edition (I reviewed the Demo, not the full game. I’m curious to see if it’s been updated or not)

10. The Order 1886 (yes.. I went there 😛 I want to see why the game is so “bad”)

11. Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare

12. Game of Thrones(the Telltale game) (Because dragons. 😛 )

13. Rayman Legends (a game released about 2-3 years ago, yet I’m also surprised how many people have it out currently)

14. inFamous: Second Son (You’ve seen me review First Light, now watch me review the second game of the short series)

.
The rest of the games are Coming Soon games. One that has my interest is bringing DOOM to the PS4 (possibly releasing on May 13th). Going by the E3 2015 teaser, this could be DOOM 4 (with DOOM 3 graphics). Though I find bashing enemies in the face with the guy’s boot pretty badass. These could be gated behind Quicktime events, pray they aren’t.

If you know of a game for the PS4 that you would like to see me play and review (that’s not on this list), please shoot me an email. Though do understand, there are a lot of games of series that I’ve never gotten into (see my God of War III Remastered review). So please be cautious of offering the second or third game of the series (unless it explains the plot of the previous games in the intro…. instead of the the wiki).

Farcry Primal just around the corner, is it worth it?

I’ve had this game in my Gamefly queue list since December of last year. Going by the box, it looked interesting. A new take of the FarCry series, except this one will go way.. WAY back to the year 10,000BC, the dawn of mankind; our ancient ancestors. When we discovered fire, and managed to rise to the top in the food chain with our skill in using tools.

But the events of this game aren’t about that recorded history, nor does it focus on a single person who happened to be in the wrong place at the right time (such as in the middle of a civil war), but about a guy and his dying tribe called the ‘Wenja’.
His name is ‘Takkar’, a seasoned hunter of the Wenja. After a successful Mammoth kill, his tribesmen are attacked and killed by a single Sabertooth Tiger.
He is the only survivor, and he must use his survival skills to kill the weak and fend off predators, for he is nothing but pray to them. But he can rise up to the top of the food chain by crafting weapons like bows, spears, and hammers(that can also be used as a torch).
The survival of his dying tribe (and possibly the future of the human race that we know today in 2016) is on his shoulders, and he can help them against the Udam, a strange human tribe of questionable ethics, by completing ‘Wenja Events'(similar to Karma Events in Farcry 4).
Takkar later finds out (after drinking spiked blood) he’s a Beastmaster; the power to tame all sorts of animals and have them attack his targets, which is a first for the FarCry series. This also seems to remind me of the annoying Hunters from FarCry 4 for some strange reason. Could they possibly be descendants of Takkar?
And that’s as far as I can say without spoilers.

Now I’ve been a fan of the Farcry series since the first game (and I’ve said this countless times). And this game, from what I’ve seen of the ‘lucky’ ones that Ubisoft paid(I’m sorry.. “sponsored” is the term I should use) to show the first two hours into the game, it looks.. and feels different. But there’s just something bugging me, and it’s something that all Triple A devs do when it comes to a successful series; copy the same features over and change them up a little, to put less work on their part instead of build it from the ground up.
Though to say this is a case of pure laziness of the devs, or a case of how expensive it is to make a video game nowadays.. I don’t know the answer to this as I’m not a developer.

All I can say, is this game (to me.. dunno about you guys) is a “need to watch” instead of a “need to buy”. It looks really cool, and I do like the fact it’s based more on the crafting aspect instead of buying weapons from dealers (and/or getting them free from unlocking radio towers). See, there was no such thing as ‘trading’ back then, or even a need for currency. It’s all about survival against hostile creatures.
But…, the fact it also feels like Farcry 3 and 4 (recycling the Eagle mob and Karma Events)… I dunno. Also, it needs more of a true Survival aspect instead of just hunting (the need to eat/drink, and stay warm(like The Long Dark, but less harsh)). This would really make Farcry Primal completely separate from the previous four games (Farcry: Blood Dragon included).
As for the asking price, it’s going to be $59.99 in the US (which is the normal retail price for most if not all Triple A games).

What I’ve decided about Fallout 4 (and other stuff)

Alright, guys. I’ve gotten your emails of what I should do about Fallout 4. And most of you are repeating eachother, which has convinced me….
to not do a video of Fallout 4 for the PS4. Hearing how the PS4 and Xbox One versions both run with a 30FPS cap(which I’m sure in graphics-intensive areas, it’ll be even slower).
The PC has a cap of 60FPS, which I don’t really get as PC’s can easily go over 60FPS. And also, I played Fallout 3 (and New Vegas) on the PC. I think it’s only right to play Fallout 4 on the PC as well. That’s especially true as (hopefully) soon, I’ll be upgrading my RAM to 16GB, and get a new SSD C drive. The second thing will obviously take some time to get everything back to the way I had it, but it’ll be a much, much larger drive (current one is only 160GB). And the fact it’ll be an SSD, my computer will boot and load up so.. SO much faster. I’ve had this drive since 2005(making the drive 16 years old.. pretty impressive for a hard drive), and it’s pretty much the only thing I haven’t replaced since I had this tower. I pray (and also knock on wood) that it continues to work OK long enough for me to get a replacement.
It probably won’t be until April or May of this year, because I’m really short on cash and I need time for it to grow into something that I feel more comfortable to use.
But I feel that replacing the hard drive alone, is why my computer has been screaming at me everytime I play Modded Minecraft for an extended period of time. Also, adding more RAM isn’t a bad thing to have.

So yeah. No video of Fallout 4. I will still do a written review of the game.
And honestly, if I didn’t have this job of doing mini-playthrough videos (and had the money), I would had bought the game on sale when it was on Steam for $40. I feel like kicking myself in the head everytime for not doing it. Now I don’t know when, or if the game will ever go on sale again. And that was a rare sale for a game that was released late last year.
Bethesda is not EA, or Blizzard. They are a good development team. They do their homework. They do their hardest to develop. And it’s going to have bugs. Even Skyrim has bugs.
But I’m not blaming this job for “cheating me” out of getting Fallout 4 for PC, $20 cheaper. My real blame is on Gamefly. I could had been playing it if it wasn’t for the fact other people also wanted to play it.

But I can also put the blame on myself, for not wanting to learn how to do videos for my PC. I don’t want to have to deal with all of that shit with encoding, and making sure after editing, that the render processes at 1080p. I like the PS4 doing all of that work for me.

My reaction to Heelz’ latest WoW video

“Oh boy… a delicious drama filled blog post by Benie! Where have we seen this before?” you might be saying, just from seeing the title. And you, sir, would be right. This WILL be a “delicious drama-filled blog post”. Except, this is more of a concern than an all-out bash on Blizzard. By the way, here’s his video.

See, I’ve beaten that dead horse so much, that it’s turned into nothing but bone dust. And as I said, this is a concern for World of Warcraft as a whole.
To start, I’m sure you heard the news that Blizzard is no longer going to show the quarter numbers of their current subscriber numbers. Yesterday marked Q4 of 2015(yes I know it’s 2016, but still), and Blizzard was true to their word. So, Az decided to give his own prediction to the numbers.
And at 5:40 of the video, he gave his prediction. And it surprised me. “I Really Don’t Give A SHIT !!” was his ‘prediction’. It felt as if a nerve in my head broke or busted, causing me to “… *cough* HOW do you not give a shit?!” And he explained his reason quite well… because it’s the same reason Blizzard would give us for wanting to know the numbers.

For the first time in my life since I started playing WoW, do I actually feel concerned at this point. And the reason, isn’t because they’re going to be releasing Legion after the Warcraft movie (rumored to be in theaters in June of this year). No. This doesn’t worry me.
What worries me… they’re going to be handing out free copies of WoW to ticket holders. This is telling me, they’re trying to get new blood into the game that have no. fucking. idea.. what hell we went through with WoD and attempt to brainwash them and use them as nothing but cash cows. The fact Blizzard doesn’t want us to see their sub numbers, kind of proves my theory.
I can only hope that people have been well-informed of Blizzard’s practices, and refuse.

But if the ones that don’t know, actually decide to join… this makes me so sick. Sick to the point I could possibly throw up IRL, of how low Blizzard has gone from what they were in the past. And I look at WoW, hiding in a corner. I want to pull out a gun and give the game a mercy kill. It deserves a clean death, than the torture Blizzard is putting on it.

.
Sooooo… getting past that. Let’s talk release dates. Or, should I say, the day WoW dies? Yeah, let’s say that. From what is being said, a July-August release is possible, with some saying it could release late August.. which would be on my 40th birthday. Being on the WoD Beta on my 38th birthday, and watching WoW die a painful, slow death on my 40th birthday. Damn… that’s harsh.
“You don’t think Legion will save WoW?” you can ask. No. It will involve more than a single expansion. It would involve involve Blizzard doing a formal apology to its playerbase for the way they treated us.
And nothing says “We’re sorry” than keeping people from viewing the sub numbers, right?! ..Yeah. Now you see why I have no hope. My hope is as empty as their compassion for their playerbase. It doesn’t FUCKING EXIST!! :/

.
…But, …. OK, I’m going to go on a limb and refuse to credit this, but someone in the comments section actually gave a somewhat promising theory. What if all of this shit that Blizzard is pulling off, is actually scripted to make us feel there is no hope? And when Legion hits, we’ll be all “…. :O Oh… my… BEST EXPANSION EVER!!!”
But what slightly debunks this is what I said during the WoD Beta, how I felt “Blizzard has to have something up their sleeve and will make this expansion awesome!”… and I was so wrong.
This is why I can’t hold any credit on this theory. It could be true. But it’s more likely to be false. As they say… “Fool me once, shame on you.”, yet “Fool me twice, shame on me”. And I refuse to be fooled twice.

American Truck Simulator, and why I can’t bitch about it…

Right. This is going to be an interesting, drama-filled, interstate nerd talk post. If you’re not into making sure game developers who do driving games to get U.S. Interstates exactly like they are in real life(or at least try to), this post isn’t for you.
Before I start, let’s see some emails. How many of you knew from the announcement of this game, knew this would come up after all of my SCS ranting about how they don’t do interstates right? How many? Because I’m sure a lot of you knew, this would happen. And… BOY did SCS fuck up with this one.

But I must also confess… I have no right to bitch about it. *GASP!!*, yes? Well, remember this blog post I made back in August 2014, how I felt “maybe I was wrong about SCS Software all of this time”? And how I said “they don’t live in the US”? … Yes. That’s why I can’t bitch.
When you don’t live in the US, you have very little resources to work with. You can only work with maps, or visual images of the US. This is why Euro Truck Simulator 2 was so popular, because they got the roads done right (because they live over there).

Because of this, I’m literally forced to forgive them for their “fuck ups”. Even though there’s one that is still making me go “WHAT. THE. FUCK?! I’m not playing this until it’s fixed! FFS!!!”
And that is seeing I-80 literally fragmented in two, having a north and south section between San Francisco and Sacramento, connected via I-5. Seeing two I-80’s on the game world, in two different sections. I…. I….
There is.. just so.. much.. I want to say to SCS right now. And all of them has NOTHING to do with offering them a pat on the back and saying “You did your best!”

I’ve been OK with I-80 being turned into a two-lane highway in the 18WoS series. I’ve been OK with I-75 in Atlanta stopping in the city instead of continuing. I’ve been OK with SCS having I-75 going through Louisville(because all of those times, I was able to fix these mistakes). ….BUT SEEING I-80 CHOPPED IN HALF between San Francisco and Sacramento, FOR NO FUCKING REASON?!?!?!?! I think I’m going to be sick.
This is purely lazy, shitty map building skills! COME..ON, SCS!! At least in the 18WoS series, you didn’t do this shit! They backpedaled.. AGAIN!!

What’s worse, I don’t know how to fix their fuckup! In the 18WoS series, I was able to learn and use their map builder/editor(as mentioned above). Assuming they have a similar editor (as modders can create their own maps in Euro Truck Simulator 2), yes, I can fix it. But as I just said, I don’t know how. Looking at it, I-80 would have to literally go parallel to I-5 to reach Sacramento.
WHY IN THE HOLY HELL DID THEY PUT SACRAMENTO SO FAR UP NORTH?!?!? … Why? And I can’t fix this fuckup. This is the first time that I can’t do anything. It’s too fucked up to fix on my own. It’s not like an interstate that I can redesign to make it more true to real life.

*I had to rewrite everything below this line after I pretty much lost it and went in a blinding rage… I needed some time to calm down*

There’s also other issues I noticed. I-80 doesn’t connect to I-5 until it reaches Sacramento. And this has it connecting after it turns into I-580 (after passing the Bay Bridge toll booths).
I can understand the I-80/I-580 change. And I… I feel it’s the same reason for this. Both issues were possibly related to how little space they had to work with of the game world. It’s… that simple.
Yes, it’s immersion-killing. It’s very immersion-killing. But this would require a team to fix. A team that has been there, and knows the correct placement of Sacramento (and can fix I-5 to move it away from I-80).

And also… I can’t help but give SCS some credit for at least trying once again. And comparing the area of California and Nevada from the 18WoS series versions? I say they did a pretty good job. They could had half-assed everything, but it looks like they really did try their best. They.. just didn’t get it right with the interstates.
And even though they messed up big, I only pray my “they just didn’t have enough space” theory is the reason, instead of “Meh… we don’t care”.

Why there’s been a lack of reviews

Hey, guys. I do apologize for the sudden lack of game reviews. It’s been pretty chaotic for the last 72 hours. See, IRL, we switched from DirecTV to DISH, and I’ve been trying to get around the newness of the Hopper 3. So new, the installer said I was the first one in my city (and all surrounding cities) to get this thing. I’ll explain more about this in my General blog, as you guys aren’t here to hear my many issues with the Hopper 3.
No, you’re here for video game reviews. Rest assured, I will get back to them. The switch did not affect my PS4 in any way, so I don’t have to make any changes to the way I do my recordings. Though I am planning one day to get a headset.

Also, this month is a weird one for PS+’s February 2016 lineup for the PS4. A co-op only game, and a game that looks like a strange 2D building game that’s similar to Terraria. And lastly, I’ll be doing the first game that Gamefly sent me of February 2016. ‘God of War 3 Remastered‘. The game that was exclusively for the PS3, has better graphics for the PS4. Or so it says.
So if you’ve seen Dadcubed’s video of the original PS3 version, you’ll know what you’re in for.

Now I don’t know exactly when I’ll start doing my reviews. It could be tomorrow. It could start next week. Right now I’m really into Modded Minecraft(trying to make a reactor from Big Reactors), using the latest Direwolf20 pack. The design of the reactor will be based from his Let’s Play Series 7 (even the code he used).
I’ll tell you this. It’s like my base has been falling apart without angry being able to help me. I’ve been having a lot of issues with chunk loaders not working.

But anyway, rest assured the reviews will happen sometime this month, and soon.

“Warning: Scans show 50 Early Access bugs perished…”

New Subnautica update! This is mainly a bug fixer, fixing a few lighting bugs with the Seamoth and Seabases in certain areas of the game world.
One new addition to the update is the Floodlight; four lights sitting on a pole. It can be used for pretty much anywhere you need light at night. As you can imagine, the crafting recipe is unknown at this time. Though I would assume it would use Titanium, Batteries, and possibly Glass in some sort, and requiring a battery once its power hits 0.

The entire list of bug fixes (50+) can be found here on their Subnautica Playtesting Trello board. They’re under the ‘Fixed and Tested Jan Patches’ area(scroll to the right and you’ll see it).

I even saw something that looks like removing the ability of building Solar Panels from the Cyclops was a bug of itself. Either that, or the devs realized that without an alternative… why bother messing with something that works well?
Though this is the Experimental mode ONLY. If you’re still on Stable, this doesn’t apply to you.

Benie’s Indy Horseback adventure, or how I learned to just use a boat

I’m back home after a hellish adventure. The main challenge of the adventure was getting to the Northern Passage, which I found out from multiple attempts of going there, it’s impossible on horseback (literally had to get my alt to take me there on his boat).
Not to mention the plethora of mobs I encountered of my attempts… so. many. bears!

But when I finally got to the Northern Passage (thanks to my alt), waited ’till the morning next to a Guard Tower and then crossed the passage (had to swim). Discovered Samling’s original spawn point(you even get a popup indicating that you entered/left the area). The GMs placed a ‘statue of nymph’ exactly where we used to spawn in after buying Prem, several years ago. The place around it has drastically changed, yet the guy that offered to feed new players, was still in the same spot.

I also discovered that Xanadu still stands (though not as it did several years ago). After finding this, I set my target to Colossus Lake to see the place of Ewwya’s friend. Getting to the lake was probably a bigger challenge than getting to the Northern Passage. Mainly because, all roads that went south that would take me around the lake, have been changed from what they show on the Map Dump. That’s not good at all.
The first instance of this came from following this curvy one tile road to a small area. According to the map, there is supposed to be a road going south (right behind a guard tower). Yet there was no road, only what looked like there was a road but covered with grass and trees. Decided to go down it, but that’s as far as I got before I was forced to go back.
While I’m trying to find an alternative route, a person named ‘Draiodoir’ popped into my Local and waved at me. I thought “Hmm, maybe he can help me.” and tried to tell him I was stuck. He says “ah cool!”…. I’m stuck and you say “ah cool!”? Seriously?
Anyway, I found an alternative route that somehow lead me right to the guy… who’s playing as a girl character (or maybe is a girl IRL).
She thought I was ‘riding a unicorn’ then saw my sword. Yeah, sure. Me, riding a Unicorn. I wouldn’t be caught dead doing something so sissy. I stood there, hoping she would give me directions to get where I need to go. Instead she’s asking me if I’m part of their Alliance, I said I was in another.
At this time I thought she’s useless to me, and said I had to go and attempted to follow the coast. The end result got me seriously lost. NONE of the roads, or even the landscape, was showing up on the Map Dump. I was forced to backtrack to roads that where on the map and attempt to find another alternative.

After a half an hour (getting lost even more), I finally made it to roads that did show up on the map.. well, sort of. It wasn’t showing the bridges or the super large town I was in, not to mention there was supposed to be another road going South… instead there was a building in the way! FFS!!! D:
My rambling got the attention of ‘Netto’, one of the locals of the area. He actually showed me how to get South, saying how they changed most of the roads. I wanted to tell him “well how in the fuck am I supposed to know where to go by you guys doing this?!”, though his answer would had been “not our fault the map is outdated”…. and it really wouldn’t be.
So, remember when I said how going on a boat is fine, but the interesting areas are inland? Well… fuck that. If I can’t have an updated road map, it’s not worth the stress of getting lost. At least with a boat, I don’t have to worry about mobs while thinking of where to go.
Anyway, as I said, Netto showed me the actual south road. Past this, all the roads on the map were matching. He ran by me, using two hell horses pulled with a large cart.. and he was outrunning my 5 speed horse. Wow. Quite impressive.

Passing that, I got to the East side of the lake. Then I stopped short. I was pissed off that the map dump wasn’t updated and decided to head south and check out this ‘Hunter Lodge’ in the Grand Steppe. Again, I ran into more roads that weren’t going the direction indicated on the map (road was going Southeast instead of South), yet it still did take me in the right direction.
I entered The Grand Steppe, and was blown away by the sure vastness of the place. Nothing but Steppe tiles for miles. No wonder it was called ‘The Grand Steppe’. This is prime hunting grounds, folks.
So I was having some trouble trying to find the lodge. I had thought I found it, but it was blocked by a gate. I had to go back to the forum post and see what it looked like. It was at a place called ‘Haven’. I had to run through the huge Steppe lands, looking for these ‘two mounds’. He said on the post, that they’re there to find the place.

After 15 or so minutes of searching (and dealing with a few mobs I could finish off easily), I finally found the two mounds. Had to lure a bear away who was near it. The place is as big as my house, and.. to be honest, it makes my house look cooler. There wasn’t that much. I expected to see deer antlers on the wall. Bear skin rugs everywhere. But nothing of the sort. It just didn’t feel like a true Hunter Cabin. Though there’s only so much you can do in Wurm when it comes to decor.

With this, I didn’t know where to go next. Of my adventure, I wanted to pretty much see everything that Indy has. But I was too bummed out over the road changes in the Northeast and worried I would run into more. I decided to just go home, but first I wanted to see something that had eluded me for 5 years; the White Dragon.. or rather, where it used to be. I spotted an oh so obvious tunnel access on the mountain’s south side, and went there.
Finally getting there, it was getting dark (and late IRL). The way I assumed to get up there was blocked by two gatehouses, both locked. I went into an abandoned town that I hoped would be the actual route, and there was a unblocked tunnel. Went in, and it was a fairly large mine. Saw a sign in it (while being chased by a black bear) saying ‘NL South Tunnel’. But the way had collapsed. I had to get out of there and got back on the main road.
I then asked Kchat if there was a way get up and see where the White Dragon was. A well-known person named ‘Gumbo'(who helped me so many times before), told me how the owners of the place didn’t want anyone to see the dragon. They had blocked all tunnels leading up to it. Wow. So, even if I had found the entrance 5 years ago, the White Dragon would still had eluded me.
Also, Reaping adds in saying the White Dragon was last seen in Southwest Indy just a day ago (but was slain).

So it’s true that the dragons (like all unique creatures) do respawn, except I’ve learned that they cannot spawn in deeds or anywhere near it’s perimeter. That means, my thought several years ago of seeing a dragon near my deed.. was not too far-fetched. It seems, there’s still a chance that one of these days, I might still see one in the hills East of my deed(before it rips my face off). But it would be so worth it! 😀

With this, I went back on the long diagonal road back to Xanadu, and back to where my alt dropped me off. Had my alt pick me up and take me back home.
I don’t know what I’m going to do now. There’s really no point to explore the rest of Indy; not without a destination. Even though the journey is the real fun. I might do my second idea, which was to explore all of the islands by boat. My Knarr wonders when I’m ever going to use it again.
One server I should avoid at all costs, is Xanadu. Today’s update caused major dsync issues across the entire server.

After that.. *shrug*. I guess then I’ll start practicing on getting my fighting up.

.
Oh yeah, before I forget, I wanted to say that getting my gear imped in last year’s Impalong, was a really smart move. I’m being damaged a lot less now, and I can hit harder with my sword. Only a few times did I need to bandage.
I can take out a mountain lion and a wild cat without them even scratching me, and I will also go after any wolf that attempts to kill me(and come out with only Very Light wounds). This is awesome. I’m feeling like a Dragon Warrior now. 🙂
