The Nomads, Day 2 / Guard Tower half completed

When I logged in yesterday, I noticed both the Ocean Warrior and the SilverWind were gone, and thought “Awesome! They found a place!” and got my alt on to continue doing Stew.
I also noticed some of the logs I cut for them have been moved over to where the two boats were, but thought it was probably them.
I hopped back into their Teamspeak channel so hopefully Starhero would see me and say that they’re coming back to get that cart full of their stuff.

After moving both piles of logs in my large cart to the BSB, I decided to head up the coast to Merchant Town to check it out while my alt fishes and cooks.

Making it to Samling, I went over to the left coast since I didn’t know the precise location of Merchant Town. Then saw the Xanadu Canal marker and decided to follow the canal. When I first saw it as my alt I wanted to see what it was like, since I liked how it was carved right out of the hill.
At the end of the canal is a path going up. I hopped out and followed it. And then it seems to stop. I look around and notice a few buildings to my left and head there, and enter Xanadu.

It looks like a merchant town. And on the far end is someone that sells ship supplies. And I mean everything you need to build the big boats. This is great! That means when I’m ready to build that Corbita, I can come here instead of pestering Anayy for what I need.

Someone logged in as I was checking out the other merchants, and I asked if he know where I could find some tar for ship building. He says he’s new to the town and couldn’t say. So I headed out since I didn’t have the money to buy what I need (nor do I need to ATM) and headed back to my boat.

I then set sail to Merchant Town. Finally reaching it, I noticed the only way in is blocked by wooden fences and gates, with a sign infront of it that says “Traffic Diversion Sorry”.
Saw two people in my local who I presume were local to the land and asked if they knew how to get there. One spoke up and said I had to follow the coast road to the right of me (he said South but I didn’t have my compass on me) and then ‘turn around’. So I followed the coast road the same way my alt did, approaching the same shipyard my alt dropped his rowboat off to be donated.

He told me to turn around at the unfinished big boat (the Corbita infront of me). Seeing I had a road to the left of me, I followed it, and followed another left road that was going through a valley of Maple trees.
As I approached, I noticed wooden fences beginning to line the sides, so I have to be going the right way. Also my FPS was crying for mercy due to something resource-hogging up ahead.

Finally I entered Merchant Town. Noticed how… pricey everything was. Including wanting 114g for a lantern.
Saw a Trader but he was behind a fenced-in area. Sucks. So I attempted to continue forward on the path hoping it’ll take me back to my boat.

As I walked I saw a sign pointing right saying “Tar Pit” on it. Jumped when I saw it and turned in the direction of the sign, knowing if I found a tar pit closer to me I won’t have to use angry’s.

Followed another sign, and another following this crossroad path, and there it was. Tar in a pen! Ran over to it and saw I could enter. And saw a ‘free’ tar sample and grabbed it. This is great! Now all I have to do for this tar is to ask someone in local when I’m ready to lend me a cart that I can cart it to my boat.

I also saw Xanadu again, and saw that if I just followed its path I would had ran right into Merchant Town. I got my bearings and headed toward the coast trying to find my boat. Halfway on the right, looks like some kind of Arena or a Race Track. It’s huge.

Finally got back to the coast and followed it south to my boat, and headed home.
When I finally got in my boat, a few people joined the Teamspeak channel. They started to say that those two boats were not supposed to be moved from my place. And I know I didn’t move them. As I was going by the north coast heading back home, I heard one of them say “Dragon is in my local”. Checked and saw one of them. Then saw the other. I asked if they needed picked up and taken back to my place and they agreed. This is just until Starhero gets back on.

So I turned around and went over to their location, picked up one of them while the other took the Ocean Warrior.
Getting back to my place, I wondered if I should put these nomads to work since they offered to help me. I got a few to help make bricks, and one to help dig for that secondary mine I’m aiming for. But they didn’t help long. They were too busy trying to get in contact with Starhero, and finally they did.
He told them to head back up the coast to his location to check out the other markers Koi placed on the map of where they could drop a settlement down, and so they left, with one going afk on my pier and being left (but being picked up later on).

I then got back to work making bricks for the tower. When they got far south of me, one of them asked if I was still on. Another one said “He’s still here?!” The only reason I’m even a part of their teamspeak channel is they still got a cart full of stuff at my house, and waiting for them to tell me they’re coming to pick it up.
But I’m not a part of them or their past settlement. Starhero got his rowboat. That should be enough.

Time passed and I finally attached the last brick to the guard tower. 500 bricks completed! All I have to do now is attach 500 clay and 100 planks, but those are easier to make. They don’t require Stone Cutting skill.

But anyway, for now on I’m staying out of their Teamspeak channel unless they need me. Even so, I wish them the best of luck in finding a place.

Found one boat, and a previous owner found his / Pier completed! / The truth about this place

Awkward day today. The first thing I did (and it was night) was try to find that guy’s boat, by sailing south from my place and following the west coast.
No sooner than 5 minutes after I pulled away (and talking in kchat), I began to experience severe lag and getting D/C’d.. alot. So I decided to stop using kchat and that worked for awhile.

I got to the Southwest coast and decided to check the Vessel Lost and Found forum, and saw the guy’s thread and someone replied in it, stating that he saw it on the ‘ocean side’ of Solace.

Just then I started lagging and D/Cing yet again, and this time I wasn’t doing anything. Soon it got so bad I decided to fuck finding the guy’s boat.
Though finally the D/Cing started getting less severe, and tried again. Noticed a Cog and went over to it. And there it was. I quickly emailed the guy and told him I may’ve found his boat.

So I slowly made my way back home. Halfway I noticed a new person posting in kchat. When I saw the name I freaked. It’s Starhero! The owner of one of the rowboats next to my place! I quickly sent the guy a PM and told him that his boat, the SilverWind, is at my place. He jumped and yelled that the SilverWind lives. Yet however he wasn’t able to get it, saying he and his friend are stuck in a mine with a troll blocking the way.

So I continued north, slow due to no wind. When I tried to ask where they were, he asked if I had Teamspeak 3 and I said yes, and joined his channel. He told me that they’re stuck in a mine somewhere around Bay View. Yet they are resourceful, because they’re veterans. So as I was going around the server, they already made their way out and got to their sailboat, and before I could get to Samling, they were heading my way.

So I had to turn around and head back to my place, with them.. kinda following me. When I finally got home, I saw them passing me. So I had to tell them I’m over here.
Soon the guy saw his boat, but in disrepair. I lended him everything needed to imp and repair and he managed to get the boat seaworthy again.
Then after asking me if I had Lead, I showed him to the mine and gave him my spare pickaxe for him to have.

So to explain what’s been going on, Starhero and his friends are trying to find a place to settle down around here. So the SilverWind won’t be taken away until they can find said place. And right now it’s not in the way so I’ll let it go. They used to live in a place called ‘Atlantis’, a place on the NE side of the bottom Northwestern island, and near my place (explains why his rowboat was at my place). But it’s long gone. So they’re Nomads until they find a spot.

I also finally completed my pier! Now I can work on that Corbita I’m planning on. But right now I feel like I should wait until these guys get settled and get their lives going again.

I’ve also been helping them out by taking them wherever they go. I had to go over to where New BroVegas was to pick up one of them and take them back to my place.
As I approached, Local began to get busy with a guy asking who landlocked his boat with clay. I noticed the name; Konlin! Another owner of the boats!
I deeply apologized to him for what I did and told him I had permission from a CM to do it yesterday. He also apologized for not responding sooner.

He said that he’s been on, and lives north of El Rancho Lago. Seeing he’s been around, I decided to ask him who lived where I’m living now, and what was the name of it. He said it’s Fort Willow! 😮 .. How in the fuck? All of this time I thought it was Stillwater Bay! This changes everything!!
He also said the former villagers of Fort Willow disbanded three months ago, and the token finally went away 5 months ago (which is how old the server was). So they’ve been here since the creation of the server. Very interesting. Konlin is also a friend of Starhero. And his son is Doubleteam; the owner of the second rowboat.

So now I know the history of this place, and know it’s marked on the map as Fort Willow. I have to tell the leader of the Community Map Project this, to rename Fort Willow to Oceanside Retreat.

The rest of the night, I found out Starhero was the former mayor of Atlantis (due to him giving orders. Was quite obvious). He also was giving orders to Koi (one of his friends I met) to mark on the map where they should check out.
I offered to hold a cart filled with their stuff at my place for them to come back and get it when ready, and did. Soon Koi had the locations marked, and they headed out by walking up the road south of my place. Finally leaving my local and kinda got my quiet life back to normal, yet remaining on TS3. I took this time to get my alt to make some more Stew.

Bugs and boats / ‘Epic’ server mentioned again

After the login server finally went back up about 20 minutes after stating it will, I’ve been busy making bricks for the guard tower. Ugh. I’m wondering why I’m even doing this.
I mean, there’s no hostiles anywhere around here! It just feels like a waste of time to do it.

Anyway, with the new horses and the cart I’ve been using it to gather more rock shards to make my life alittle easier on myself. Due to the water at the entrance to my mine, I have to do several things to get the horses (and the cart) inside the mine.
Immediately I started getting bugs. The first one was disappearing horses when looking away from the mine. And the more serious one was the fact I couldn’t unhitch the horses and get them and the cart out. Kept on getting “You are too far away from the Mature fat horse.”

Posted it on the forums. A GM named ‘Wollschaf’ (seen him before as a regular person. He also codes parts of the game) helped me out, telling me that the first issue is likely a client issue.
Before I knew, the GM was standing right next to me as I was submitting the pictures to his PM.
I did my best to explain what I did and how I could possibly reproduce the issue. And it all let up to me fucking up (which worked before the update). Hitching horses at the entrance of the cave causes the server to think the horses are still outside, which lead to both of my issues.
I suggested to him that he could teleport the cart and the horses back outside, and managed to. Freeing the horses from being stuck in the mine forever.

I then unloaded the 100 rock shards I mined. He helped (which would be a mistake after) and then had me reproduce the problem I was having with the horses unable to unhitch in the mine, stating if I’m able to he’ll be able to tell Rolf about it.
So I tried what I did and surprisingly enough, I couldn’t redo it. Like all it needed was a good old fashioned kick in the ass by a GM.

He also told me I could possibly fix the water at the entrance to the cave if I had two shaker orbs, and used them while inside the cave. Then mined a new entrance. But he also says he’s not 100% sure it will work.

After that, he left. I tried to pick up the rock shards, and 2/3rd of them had the Steal option.. on my property. So I had to call the GM back here to get the shards converted to neutral so anyone can pick them up.
While he was around, I lead him down to those three boats and ask him if he could remove them for me so I can build my pier. He says that I need to post a thread in the Vessel Lost and Found section of the forums before the GMs will take the necessary measures if the boats are truly abandoned. So I do.
Ten minutes later after I do, the same guy that helped angry with that sailboat said the one that owns the rowboat next to my settlement has left a ‘long time ago’, but won’t tell me how long it’s been. As for the two other boats, they are still unclaimed.

Also, as I was talking to the GM, another person was in my local, overhearing our conversation. When the GM left again, I decided to talk to the person.
Says s/he lives in Fairwind, which is just north of me. I wondered if he knew about what happened months before I saw this place and asked the person. S/he said that they ‘founded their settlement a long time ago’, and said s/he saw them two times, and then never again.

.
Later in the day I decided to check how damaged the dirt and sand piles I dug up were, and I saw I needed to get that pier done NOW before this loose dirt/sand decays.
So I did. Meanwhile, someone in kchat was looking for a sailboat. When he mentioned the name, I remembered seeing it when I was going up the east coast with my alt while moving away from Vorgon and told him. Unfortunately, he has now given me the job of finding it again, and will pay me for the trouble if I do find it.
He also mentions about a new server being released soon (why he’s trying to find his boat). I asked if it was the Golden Valley being converted to a tutorial-only server. He said no and told me he got an email yesterday about it.

I decided to check mine and found another mention of this unknown ‘Epic’ server. Stating a possible ‘mass return of old players’, yet not really giving any details about it. Like if it’s going to have PvP or not. Or even how to access it. If it’s anything like the Wild server, then as I said before it could possibly be a replacement to it.
Your guess is as good as mine, folks. But anyway, I have to find this guy’s boat tomorrow.

Maintenance taking longer than stated

Since I’m getting a “Network error: ‘ message when I try connecting, and the only reason I’m getting being “It’ll be up when it’s up”, I might as well state what’s been going on at my village.

Actually, nothing much has been going on. I’m trying to work on that guard tower. I got 100 of the 500 bricks made for it.
I got a large cart made, and got two of Volcano Forest’s horses. And I got almost what I need from Anayy for my future Corbita.

I want to state angry isn’t liking the fact I’m asking for these things, and starts talking like “If you want it, you make it”. If I had more wemp (which I have yet to setup the farm for), I would attempt to make my own ropes.
I also need a lantern. I somehow either lost it, or it decayed.

The top tier where my house is, is almost fenced in. I just need 186 rock shards to complete it. And with the new Stone gate (not yet listed in the Wurmpedia), I can knock down my wooden fences and build them.

.
Yesterday, I went down to the Freedom Market yet again, this time to get an enchanted chisel (I’m not about to wait 20 seconds to have a chance to make a brick, 500+ times). Since the wind was in my favor (North gale), I took my alt and the Cog down there. Beautiful speed zooming down the bays.

I got to the Freedom Market in record time too. 10 minutes from my house to it.
But as I was trying to maneuver the big boat over to the pier, a freak gust of wind propelled the Cog full speed, INTO the pier! With a force so hard it knocked me off. All I could do is sit there, laughing my fucking head off and ‘surveying the damage’ to my boat and the pier. I laughed even harder when it said it was stuck in the ground when I tried to drag it off.
So me and my alt had to push it off ’till I could drag it over to the Cave Canal (I wasn’t about to go back up the bays in a north gale).

So I got my chisel, made it back to the Cog. I had to log off a few times because the damn thing was facing the wrong way, and then headed for the canal.. at a blistering 0.88 km/h! So fast!
Got out and dragged it towards the entrance, and told my alt to duck (due to how low the entrance is).

As the Cog went through the canal, my alt was stuck in the air above the cave entrance. Was too funny.
When I hopped back on and got the Cog out the other side, he was STILL in the air. Had him try to disembark, and got a “That is too high.” message. So he tried to log out, and that worked.

The rest of the trip was me zig-zagging against the north gale up the west coast while Sol setted, and the planet-sized moon Valrei was high in the horizon.

So that’s basically what’s been going on. And now the server is back up.

Update ‘100914’ released, which leads to a 30 minute restart

An update has been released for Wurm today. And it’s huge. To save you the trouble of reading what’s been changed or added in here, you can click here to read the full list.

From what I can make out, the majority of the changes are model reskins and changes. Even some that will help dual-clienting.
There’s also changes for ships and large carts, making the turning smoother and more realistic. Also that annoying thing I had with my Cog about Embarking as a Passenger and the boat is facing the other way, has been fixed!

And also, optimizations to reduce stress on your CPU.

Of course, no update is complete without a few bugs. Though I’ve seen none, someone in kchat claims that if you kill a hostile, you get the same things a trader can sell.

Because of this (possibly), the server’s going down for a half an hour due to a ‘Maintenance restart’, aka a Rollback (meaning you’ll lose everything you’ve done since the update). Fortunately, I got everything I needed to do yesterday (before the update) that can wait ’till after the restart is completed (hopefully there won’t be another or I’m fucked).

Cogs: Awesome but slow / Other plans / The mysterious settlement of Kinsaitos

Ok. How do I put this? I can’t think of a decent title and so many things have happened since my last entry.
One being that I was taking the Cog for a spin with my alt up at the Crow’s Nest.

Probably the best part of that adventure was approaching the Darkenstone Canal, and a Corbita starts moving from my left heading for the canal. Alt spots it and warns me.
I tell the driver of the Corbita to go ahead through the canal first, and does. Then I slowly maneuver my huge boat into the canal, and my alt says the Corbita is stopped in the canal. Sees the driver is talking to the driver of a sailboat, ALSO going through the canal.
Finally the Corbita clears the canal and follows the coast to the left, and the sailboat clears me.

The rest of the trip… not so much fun. The only thing rising wasn’t the wind speed, but my temper level. Going 1.43 km/h in the middle of the largest lake of the server. Miles from any land mass, and looking like I’m not even moving… all the way to the Freedom Market and back home.

Finally getting home, I vowed to never do that again. Angry said he’ll take it off my hands (again), but this time I’m going to keep it, as decoration. And once my pier is ready, I’m going to do something really foolish. I’m going to build (not buy) a Corbita. So wish me luck with that. I can deal with everything that has to do with wood. Everything that consists of Cloth or Rope could be done by Anayy, or be bought somewhere.

Before I do that, I need to get an animal farm started next to my house (where I’ve chosen to put it) and grab two horses from Volcano Forest. Then build a large cart. With the cart, I can build the Corbita in it.

But before I can even do that, I need to work on that guard tower that angry set one up for me. I got a good place for it. All I need to do is just put the work into it.

.
Another thing I wanna go after, after completing my Storage Shed, is the strange deserted settlement that was Kinsaitos, just Southeast from me.
What caused everyone to just.. leave, with hardly any damage on anything? The BSB’s still have stuff in them, but not anything really valuable except higher QL than I have logs.
Their backyard is even more creepy. Fountains, casted with Courier for some reason. Kchat tells me that it was possibly to turn them into wishing wells. Beds, all completed but unusable. And roads that go nowhere.

There is something, though. A lone, frozen lamp stuck in the ground near a archery target. The owner has the initials of ‘Ca.d.m..nta…’. After asking kchat, they said it was someone named ‘Candymounti’. I remember this person from JK-H, but that’s pretty much it.
Was this person a former villager of Kinsaitos? Or was the person the mayor. I will never know. No one’s even heard of Kinsaitos. Yet it was on the map before.

I did finally find a mine linking to them. And what a big mine it is. No hostiles, and it has iron! A single vein, but hey, iron! I won’t have to go to that other mine anymore!

My new toy / Donated rowboat

What’s big, very fast (when it hits a gale), and has a breathtaking view from the Crow’s Nest?
If you say a Cog, you are not incorrect. And now I own one. And I’m probably the only one on the server to use it as a travel boat.

I got it late last night, around 4:20am. Been busy building the last of of the security walls, and fixing the secondary path. While all along talking to my contact; Wulffgrymm.
Once he had 50 pegs to attach, I bought the 10s needed for the Cog and got my alt on, telling him to meet me at his rowboat.

I went as fast as the rowboat could go to Bay View, as time ticked on. As I approached Samling, fog started to develop and increase. Soon I could barely see. But did that stop me? HA! Not when there’s a Cog at stake. I used my explorer instincts (aka landmarks) to drive into Samling and follow the channel down.

Halfway from Bay View, the fog finally lifted enough for me to see where I’m going, and I got to Bay View. Just in-time too. He finished the boat off.
I got off while telling my alt to take control of the rowboat, and followed Wulff around the dock. And then I saw it. It was named the Ocean Raider. So I paid him the 10s for it, broke a bottle on it to cistern it, and got in.

And that’s when I remembered why I hated Cogs. They are notoriously bad at dealing with winds not in their favor, and it proved it by going a mind-numming 0.55 km/h when I ‘put my foot on the gas’. Hell. If Wurm had snails, it would probably move faster than me.
I eventually got out and dragged it away from its birthing pier and pointing it towards Samling. Finally getting back on, it went 8 km/h. Much better.

I then instructed my alt to take the rowboat to the Academy to have it donated. But he couldn’t find it. He then docked it at ‘Hilfe Shipworks’. Though he forgot to grab the key to the boat lock, and to put the mooring anchor in the boat (or at least moor it first) before turning control over to Elwood (the contact for donating Small rowing boats). Due to this, he dropped the anchor under the boat, hoping someone doesn’t see it.

Then he hopped in my Cog and got the best view of his controlled life, and with me controlling we headed home. But it wasn’t done yet. I got a new toy. So why not take her out for a spin?
Due to angry giving me a Guard Tower I can plant and build by myself, and needing to give back a carving knife I borrowed from him, I told my alt to grab the knife when we made it home (and the key for the rowboat), and then I turned around and hit a 22 km/h gust of wind. Yeee haaa.

As we were going along the north coast, I got a PM from Tokeiito (a regular in kchat), telling to tune into kchat, that Elwood is on. So I did and saw him. Told him that I donated a rowboat, and then told my alt that I was going to make a pitstop at Samling, then he would follow the coast ’till he gets to where he dropped off the rowboat, and stay there until Elwood deals with it.
Waited five minutes and Elwood finally showed up. He gave him the key and the mooring anchor for it, and then left without getting a thank you.

Well. Screw it. Getting rid of that thing was the priority. They can do whatever they want with it now. But I have to admit, it was .. kinda hard leaving it. That rowboat has alot of sentiment value. If rowboats were a bit faster, I would had kept it. But I bought this Cog mainly for my alt, so he would have an awesome view, and come with me on my trips instead of being cooped up back at home making Stew.
That rowboat is what brought that guy to the Freedom server. And who is now helping me with food issues.

I can always build another rowboat if my alt misses it. They aren’t that hard to build.

Spiders dead, mine reclaimed / Construction restarts / Buying a Cog

As stated, I finally reclaimed my mine from those eight-legged bastards. How it started was recruiting Sharpnel to help me kill them.
I thought with me tanking them, him and my alt could kill them all. Since Sharp has a rowboat, I thought of just sailing over there and picking him up. So I did.

When I got him back, I briefly showed him how my village is looking so far before getting my alt on, everyone fed on Stew, and headed for the only mine I had.
I went in and took on one of the spiders. A half a minute later, it had me with 25% health left and I backed out. I checked my wounds and only had light, and healed them all with rags.

Sharp then tried to tank. As he was, I noticed another spider right next to it, and told him to back off, and that they’re working together. He said he was fine but I wanted to wait until my wounds went away. He tried again and sure enough, both were attacking him and he backed out.
He got a med. Fortunately I gave him the healing covers I bought from the Freedom Market.

After all of mine healed up completely, I tried to fight them again, and I got a med. At this time I finally gave up. Sharp had another med. A pretty nasty one that was going to turn into a Bad wound without a healing cover.
I then told him I would take him back home, and did. My alt stayed back home. When I finally got Sharp back, I decided to check out the village (and hopefully recruit angry to kill those bastards). He said he might ask Anayy and Elshar to help, but never responded after.

So I left, and decided to ask in kchat one last time. Before I did, my alt checked the mine and saw the one spider we where attacking, died. Anyway, this time I got one of the populars in kchat; Farmerbob. Talked of the situation, and he asked if it was possible to walk there from the Valley of The Gods.
I did my best to guide him using the old and the latest map, but kept getting lost.

Meanwhile, my alt acted like he had a mind of his own. Dropped everything he had and went up the road to the abandoned village SE of us, and then followed a single-lane road heading east through the forest.
The path ended at a small area with fencing and other shit, with two lakes. In the distance to the SE was a house.
And that’s when he checked his local and saw Farmerbob. I ordered my alt to just return home, but he belayed my order, saying he could guide the guy to the village if he stayed put, but he headed towards the house and wound up at El Rancho Lago.

He stayed there as Farmerbob was dealing with a crock elsewhere, and killed it. Then my alt finally made visual contact with him and showed him to the mine.
I finally pulled up to the village as Farmer entered the mine and started hunting the spiders.

Moored the boat and ran for the mine, watching him kill the spiders. All I could do was laugh in village chat and yell “DIE YOU FUCKERS!!!” I ran in and helped him as long as my alt. After the 3rd spider died and I saw my shards infront of the mine wall I knocked down that released the spiders, I quickly ordered my alt to get the cart and get those shards out of the mine ASAP. He did as the guy was dealing with the lava spider that started all of this.

Finally, Farmerbob killed them all, and acted like he didn’t even break a sweat. I repeatably thanked him (and wanted to bow down to him) for helping to reclaim my mine from the spiders, and asked him how I could repay him. He said the fight skill was all the payment he wanted and butchered all the spiders.
On top of it, he gave me a ultra-high QL (99.86) bear hide, telling me it would make a great bed.

The total body count was; four Mature huge spiders, and one Old lava spider.

Soon he left, suggesting too that I build a tower, once I hit 30 Masonry (hah. Like that’s ever going to happen. I’m no mason). I may need to hire Anayy to do that since he’s more capable of doing it, but it’s not required right now.

I then looked at my alt and told him what he did was foolish and wrong, and didn’t like him belaying my order. But he helped guide Farmerbob to the village. For that, he’s more than qualified for the Cog I ordered from Bay View yesterday, for 10s. It should be ready by Saturday.

Ok. You must be saying to yourself “.. what the fuck? He’s treating his alt like it has a mind of its own! That’s not right!” and you’re right. But, it’s what I do. I like pretending my alt can think for himself like a real person, but be my personal slave. 🙂

But now with the mine back under my control, construction can resume. I’m still thinking though of turning the secondary ‘path’ into a secondary mine path.

I’m still kinda leary walking around the mine, though. Seeing the corpses of the spiders and thinking another one is going to show up. I’m now leary of breaking a wall, thinking a spider (or something else) is going to show up behind it. So yeah.

“You’ve stirred up hell!!”

I unleashed hell in the only mine I have. Remember mentioning in an earlier blog post about discovering a secret mine path with a lava spider in it? I thought it was just one spider. That one lava spider. So I thought of just knocking down that wall blocking him, and then getting my alt to call a guard. I lure it out and have the guard kill it.

Soon, the wall breaked and I moused into the mine, and saw the spider. But suddenly, several Adolescent huge spiders I didn’t see started crawling over to me.
I panicked and ran out of there, telling my alt to get a guard hired ASAP.

Five minutes and two wasted silver (to hire the guard) later, the guard arrived. But since the mine has just a little water at the entrance, the spiders refuse to crawl out and follow me.

I wondered what the fuck I was going to do. I left my cart and the shards in there (didn’t think of putting the shards in the cart before breaking the wall). I knew I had to at LEAST get the cart out, then wait for Anayy or someone near my location that can fight, to kill the spiders for me.
So I dropped everything I had into the coffin, went down to the entrance of the mine, took a big breath, and ran in. Grabbed the cart and got out. A lone spider there only took three bites out of me. All light, so I survived the ordeal. Really lucked out too. It stunned me once.
Got the cart back up to the village and healed up. Thank god I didn’t get any mediums. But even if I did, I could heal myself with healing covers.
I’m not about to go back in there and load the cart up with the shards I mined, while the spiders kill me.

I feel like kicking myself in the ass for taking down that wall. But I thought it would be ONLY ONE spider! Instead, there was a shitload of little spiders! But even if it was just that one lava spider, it would not be able to come out of the mine because of that water.

Since I still have those enchanted tools still sitting in my mailbox, I paid for another 10s and got them out. Noticed they casted 80 WoA on the pickaxe, and knew I could ‘get my shards back’ from the mine north of here in half the time it took me. So I did that.
The shards are going to be used for walls lining the main road to the village, and around the main top tier of the village. This will keep people from falling off the very steep cliffs.

I’m also going to put walls along the secondary path, but seeing how it’s so unsmoothed, I may turn it into another mine access point instead.

Building issues / Allied with Volcano Forest / A past friend visits Freedom

Construction of the new place has been quite slow. So much to do and no time to do them all at once. I haven’t even started putting planks on my house yet! I’m going to be so fucking busy.

Everything has been delayed over one, little thing. A persistent gate blocking construction of my porch. I tried using the catapult I built, and the rock shards being launched as ammo keep not hitting a fucking thing. Even when the rock shard lands right infront of the gate.
I had to repeatably ask kchat today for alot of things, including about hitting said gate. I was eventually told that the deed owner has to use it to knock the gate down, and since my alt is the deed owner and I’m still a part of Volcano Forest, this is a big.. big problem.
I knew I would need to leave the other village, forever. And then become a resident of my village and transfer ownership to me, JUST to knock down that gate.

My alt gave me an idea to use a maul instead (yes, I talk to my alt like he’s a real person). But since I had no skill in ‘weapon heads smithing’, I knew I would have to buy one.
Ask kchat again. One said he would make one and send it in the mail. I never got it.

After coming back from dinner, I noticed Angry and Anayy were both in VF’s Village chat, and told them my issue. Angry suggested that I ally with them, which will still give me access to all of Volcano Forest like I’m still a citizen. I agreed, got my alt on, had him hop in my sailboat and slowly sailed over to the island (wind wasn’t in my favor).

When I got there, angry was growing impatient, so I dropped my alt off at Elshar’s pier and rushed him over to the village, and the allying was done. And then he logged out saying he was going to bed (early for him). With that I ordered my alt to come back to the pier, and kicked myself out of Volcano Forest.
Then my alt invited me to join mine, and tried to turn deed control over to me but was unable to. It says he has to wait 24 hours until he can simply give me the deed writ. So the destruction of that gate will have to wait.

So we got back, and my alt got right to work making Stews. I made two barrels with one to store his Stew. Since he’s getting good making it (and it fills up our Hunger bars), it’s a good idea to store it so he can make more quicker, and more efficiently.

I’ve been laying down stone wall foundations and talking in kchat, when a past friend from JK-H logs in. A past friend who knows me and angry all too well, and who I lived near of the days of Dragon Forest… Mouchard! He’s now a PA, and lives on the Wild server. He has come to Freedom for two months to see how it has progressed, and was shocked to see me on after a year of hiatus.
I told him that he should go and visit angry, and he said he might on his trip around the server. If he does, I’m going there too. We can talk about the past.

As for the rest of the day, I finally got the enchanted tools I asked for, half a week ago from Whitewidow, in the mailbox that’s now next to my unfinished house. Since I gave my alt all of my money, it acted like “Uh, buddy.. this shit isn’t free, and I don’t give a shit if you have the money in your inventory. Put it in your fucking bank!!” And since it hasn’t been moved since I left Volcano Forest, now I have to wait 24 hours to access it.
I may go up to VF tomorrow, and put the money in to save time. Though I still have 13 RL days to get the items out.
