Quite the busy day yesterday was (in Wurm), from the anniversary update, to publicly humiliating myself in Global Kchat assuming the new creature cage had a major game-breaking bug (when the answer just needed to be led to me). But in my defense, I had no one telling me the solution.
On top of it, there’s a new addition to the deed (that I felt didn’t need its own blog post); seems I ‘found’ angry.. more like his boats, parked near where Tulsi’s shack was. It’s pretty obvious that he used Redminer’s account to do this (as his own account hasn’t been on in 10 days).
Ok, moving on. I made six support beams, and got the wooden mine door to as high as my woodcutting skill can currently go (44’ish), which gives a strength value of 4600 when I placed it over the mine entrance. This was all while I had Luckydog in local, who was working hard on War’s highway. He was telling me a few things about the area.. even about a pretty ‘comforting’ thing to know (with my current age and health), of how he had a heart attack three years ago. He’s also in his late 60’s, which means he’s as old as my parents.
Anyway, I reinforced what walls I feel someone could possibly tunnel through. And so, the mine is secured! I’ll have to monitor the door monthly (pretty much the same time of getting on to throw another month into upkeep).
Then it was time to build the creature cage. Even though it was doable, a 41% creation chance with 71 Carp (yet I pulled it off the first time), and last second fails, plagued the continuing process. Eventually got it completed, though! When telling local, both War and Lucky wanted to see the cage. So I loaded it up in my wagon and dropped it near the southern canal (on the road) for them to see. I really like the model, though I don’t understand why it doesn’t have a bottom. But ehh, as this is the thing that I’ve wanted since I started exploring on horseback (to enable taking my horse cross-server), then who the hell CARES?! 😀
It’s testing time. Yes I promised I was going to get into the test server (to properly test the creature crate), but the Best Boi model being released was a hell of a lot more important to me (at the time). But now I can test on my own horses (in realtime).
I learned that the crate has to be unloaded before allowing an animal (which made me learn that unloading in the middle of the ocean (after crossing servers) wouldn’t work).
Loaded my best horse in, and saw a quite disturbing message pop up in my face;
‘The venerable fat Briskabbas is venerable, and may die if it crosses to another server.”
Wait.. MAY DIE if it crosses?! WHAAAT?! This wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes!!
Asked what the hell this meant, and it seemed like no one knew. I asked War, and he says that it’s a warning about the animal being ven, and it has a 50/50 chance of surviving the trip cross-server.
I went around the deed, looking for a younger horse that I could test this with. But the youngest I had was an old diseased (attached to my wagon). The majority of them are venerable. So I got Briskabbas out and gave him a hug– there’s no way I’m going to sacrifice my best horse! He also wasn’t happy about it, and kicked the cage in anger.
Instead I did the test on my other 5-speed, Emilkiss (who’s also a ven). Was able to load him and the cage into my Knarr with no issue, and set sail for Deli. I was hoping I could stay there for a few days (to give the cage a proper test run).
Crossed over to Deli, and checked the cage.. praying it wasn’t going to be empty. And Emilkiss was still there! SUCCESS!! A horse I owned from my deed.. on another server!!
Turned East and sailed down the coast towards the point that I originally started exploring this server. Found a redesigned Insane Dragon Inn (with a brand new lighthouse on the other side of the canal entrance). Seems Deli has been quite busy.
Parked and moored, and attempted to unload the creature cage, opened it up and right clicked on Emilkiss … and saw no ‘Unload Creature’ option. FUCK!! ALL OF THAT HYPE.. gone!
Thought “maybe it’s just a permission thing” and checked the ground. Sure enough I was in the perimeter of a deed named “Ago’s Legacy”. So I loaded the crate back and continued following the coast, until I reached a place I was confident enough it was out of range of any deeds. I also was getting the boat stuck, and took awhile until I had it close enough to the shore to disembark.
I really do like how the cage pops up where you’re standing (unlike unloading a cart/wagon, where I have to drag the thing out of the ocean). Very awesome. Unfortunately… I still wasn’t getting the option. Damnit! Wow, all of that testing, and it’s still buggy. In addition (noticed this back at my deed), when the horse goes into the cage, the color changes to brown instead of gray. Back before I did this (and had the option to unload the horse), it changed back to its gray color. So that’s another bug.
Re-loaded the crate and sailed back home, feeling very annoyed over this ‘troll bug’. While I went home, I also wrote a bug report on the forum explaining what I did in detail.

Made it back home, unloaded the cart. I thought for sure (if it really was a permission bug), it should work fine here… still no option. Ok, this is getting quite serious. My 5-speed is in there, and I can’t get him out (on my own deed).
Told War about what happened, and he said to unload the horse in a structure. All I could think about was how utterly inconvenient that would feel on another server (as in.. this is the catch to enforce working with others). I felt burned all over, but since this was my best (and only) option, I did what he said and unloaded the crate in my house. No option.
Relogged, no option. OKAY.. GM summoning time! They must ANSWER to this bullshit!!
Didn’t even hesitate, just started writing the ticket and submitted. Then made an announcement on Global Kchat to NOT take your animals cross-server at this time (because of this major game-breaking bug I found).
After saying that, I realized I posted the forum bug report in the WU section (instead of WO), and quickly corrected the problem (additionally writing down what I’m currently experiencing).

An hour passed, and one of the forum mods responded to my bug report. They asked “did you use rope?”… rope. Why.. how in the fuck would that– activated one of my ropes….. the option popped up. Are you.. FUCKING KIDDING ME!? *hands in face* Oh my GOD!! NO ONE TOLD ME to use fucking ROPE to get the option!! …WOW. So it’s no different than leading an animal. That would had been GREAT TO KNOW BEFORE SAYING IT WAS A FUCKING BUG!!!
Look, at the time, there was no wiki article about the thing. And even when there is now, there’s ZERO mention about “you must have a rope to be able to unload the creature”! The only thing close, says “Only animals that are leadable can be stored in the cage.”
I guess I wasn’t using my common sense, huh? That tends to happen a lot to me.
While I was still going “OMG.. a ROPE was needed?!”, one of the GMs responded to my ticket. Managed to get Emilkiss out of his prison, who was understandably pissed off about being caged for so long (and took it out on the cage).
The GM also told me the ‘visual bug’ I reported, wasn’t a bug at all. They explained it uses “a generic model” (which is the brown horse) for horses. Though I noticed the person also said ‘currently’, so that means it’s a template (and it might be changed in the future).
They add on saying that if the animal doesn’t have a generic model for it, a curtain is put over the cage.
Ok, so this is good to know. I just wish it didn’t come with the embarrassment of saying this is a bug (when it really wasn’t). So tomorrow, I’m going to try this again (with this new knowledge). But there’s one thing that does (somewhat) concern me (that I’ll also be testing).. when looking at the permissions (when I was in Deli), it didn’t show I owned the cage. Now I don’t know if this is perfectly normal behavior (that can also be seen with a cart). If it is, then I have absolutely nothing to worry about. But if it isn’t, then I fear when it’s time to load the horse back in, it’ll act like I don’t have permission to do anything.
I want to say that I shouldn’t need to worry about this (as the permissions actually showed correctly when back on my deed), but it’s something that will probably be eating at me (while trying to enjoy myself).
But if my fears are true, I can simply make another ticket and get a GM to take care of the problem.
